Breaking: Trump to Address Nation on Iran

We'll ask her about that. maybe some other topics as well. Jimmy Phala, often hilarious. We never know what he's going to say. He will be here in our next hour, so already anticipating that. And then Bethany Mandel, mother of six, I believe. She'll be on the show responding to the ladies of the view, who apparently think it's very terrible and very reckless to have children in today's America or whatever.

We'll talk to Bethany about that and some other subjects as well as today's program. unfolds. I want to begin by making you aware that tonight in prime time at 9 p.m. Eastern, there will be a presidential address from President Trump with what the White House is calling an important update on the conflict with the regime in Iran. And I'm eager to see exactly what the president is going to say, because he didn't really give an address. of this variety, of this heft at the beginning of the conflict, which is often what you see from commanders-in-chief. Instead, we've seen an incredible amount of achievement from the U.S., from the Israelis as well, and now other allies helping in a number of ways. In fact, there's a

story I'll get to here in just a moment that perhaps President Trump will talk about tonight. I wonder if this will be a progress update on the war or the operations inside Iran, a clarification or a restating of the actual goals, maybe a timetable on what we're looking at, what is left to do there, what does this mean in terms of oil shocks, straight of Hormuz-related issues, we'll see. But I think it's good that he's doing this.

There's an argument that he should have done it sooner, but tonight 9 p.m. We'll be watching closely. We will have reaction on the show tomorrow. Now, the story that I referenced is a Wall Street Journal article that came out early this morning. Headline, UAE, so United Arab Emirates, wants to force Hormuz open, so the Strait of Hormuz, and is willing to join the fight. The Gulf State begins an effort to persuade the U.S. and others to open the waterway by any means necessary. And the beginning of the story says this.

The United Arab Emirates is preparing to help the U.S. and other allies open the Strait of Hormuz by force, Arab officials said, a move that would make it the first Persian Gulf country to become a combatant after being hit by Iranian attacks. The U.A.E. is lobbying for a U.N. Security Council resolution that would authorize such action, the officials said. Amiradi diplomats have urged the U.S. and military powers in Europe and Asia to form a coalition to open the strait by force, UAE official said the Iranian regime thinks it is fighting for its existence and is willing to bring the global economy down with a chokehold on the strait. The UAE official said the country had reviewed rather its capabilities to assist in securing the strait, including efforts to help clear it of minds and other support services. So we have seen various Arab Muslim

countries shooting down Iranian missiles and repelling various Iranian attacks. We have not seen them go back on a counteroffensive, even as they've cheered on and supported the United States and Israel, but that might be changing soon with the UAE, apparently signaling a very significant willingness and openness to get involved in the fight back against Iran, specifically when it to opening the Strait of Hormuz. And there have been rumblings about this with the Saudis as well. So that would be a growing coalition if that comes to fruition. That's a Wall Street Journal exclusive today.

A few other points that I want to make here. And I'm going to let some other smart people illustrate and articulate some of these points, but they need to be heard and underscored one of the criticisms that we've heard, and there's a whole flurry of criticisms. It seems like the international Western press is on a full court press to try to wish failure upon the United States and Israel. Right. Like the Financial Times had another propaganda piece saying Iran could emerge from this war even stronger and more dangerous. Really? Their nuclear program is destroyed. Their missile program and their ability to make new missiles is being almost completely destroyed already. their top leadership all dead.

Their Navy sunk. But the Financial Times looks at that and says, well, maybe they're getting even stronger. The Economist, which had a big, you know, Advantage Iran headline and front page cover story recently. They've got a new one. The Economist, they went and they asked a bunch of Chinese Communist Party officials if the United States is making a mistake in Iran. and they all said yes. And apparently that was news to the economist. We asked America's enemy,

is it bad that America is fighting and defeating a different enemy? And shockingly, the enemy said yes. Big news, thanks to the economist. That's the drumbeat that we are up against. And unfortunately, a lot of the coverage not terribly dissimilar here in the United States as well, I think doing a grave disservice to the men and women of the military who have been brilliant.

in what they've done in less than a month. But one of the complaints that comes up a lot is, oh, there's all these shifting explanations and moving of goalposts of what the objectives are here. And I think some of that has definitely been strategically ambiguous by Trump. This is how he operates. He throws a lot of chum in the water and kind of keeps everyone guessing. There are positives to that approach and negatives.

but the fundamental purposes that undergird this military operation against this regime, the death to America regime that's been killing Americans for decades, we have to bring that up, by the way, every single day, because often you would never know it from the coverage. The major objectives have to do with degrading and destroying Iran's nuclear capabilities, their nuclear ambitions, and then their traditional military apparatus to defend or shield a nuclear program, a rogue nuclear program that they want badly, that they've been developing,

that they've lied about for many, many years, including lies about their more conventional weapons like missiles. They were caught red-handed in yet another lie just recently as they fired missiles off at the Diego Garcia naval base in the Indian Ocean well beyond the range that they said they had missiles that could hit. The foreign minister just weeks ago, we played the clip. He went on NBC News. He said, oh, no, we don't have the capability to shoot missiles over 2,000 kilometers,

nor do we want that capability because we have no beef with Europe, and we have no problem with anyone. We don't want to fight. It's just absolute liars. And then they proved that that was a lie in very short order. that the missile was taken out on its way to Diego Garcia. And as I pointed out, if you fired the missile in the opposite direction instead of south, north, you could hit most of Europe. You think that might be alarming to the Europeans, but the Europeans have not, for the most part, been terribly helpful in this, I think, really important, totally righteous military campaign.

And I think President Trump is very frustrated with them. Understandably, we might hear some of that tonight when the president speaks. But is it really ambiguous? Is it unclear what we're trying to do? I think some of the people who keep saying that just don't want to listen to what the administration has been crystal clear about and very consistent about. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, I think one of the most consistent and effective communicators on this front. He put out a video, courtesy of the administration, that I think distills things down very digestibly, very powerfully. So in case people haven't heard it enough times, or if the media has filtered this out as if this rationale doesn't exist, it does.

And here is our Secretary of State explaining it, quite simply, cut 27. Many Americans are asking, why did the United States have to attack Iran now? Well, let me explain. Iran wants to have nuclear weapons. Of that, there is zero doubt. If what they truly wanted, which is what they claim, is nuclear energy, well, they could have nuclear energy, like all the other countries in the world have it. And that is, you import the fuel and you build reactors above ground.

That's not what Iran has done. They build their reactors and their facilities deep in mountains away from the public glare. And they want to enrich that material. The same equipment that they could use to enrich material for energy, they could use to quickly enrich it to weather. grade. So it is clear that they've been offered every opportunity to have a nuclear program that allows them to have energy, not weapons, and every single time they have turned it down. Because they don't want nuclear energy, they want nuclear weapons. He goes on, cut 28, Secretary

Marco Rubio. But why the attack now? Well, what was Iran trying to do? Iran was trying to build a conventional shield, in essence, have so many missiles, have so many drones that no one could attack them. And they were well on their way. We were on the verge of an Iran that had so many missiles and so many drones that no one could do anything about their nuclear weapons program in the future. That was an intolerable risk. Under no circumstances can a country run by radical Shia clerics with an apocalyptic vision of the future ever-possessed nuclear weapons? And under no circumstances can they be allowed to hide and protect that program and their ambitions behind a shield of missiles and drones that no one can do anything about. This was our

last best chance to eliminate that conventional threat, that conventional shield that they were trying to build. And the president made the right decision to wipe it out now. That is the goal of this operation, to destroy their conventional missiles and their drone program so they can't hide behind it and finally have to deal with the world seriously about never, ever having nuclear weapons. Which is the stated position of the United States of America and has been for many years under administrations from both parties. All the presidents have said it. In recent memory, all of them. Trump is realizing, all right, that window might be closing in a very dangerous way.

I'm going to actually enforce America's red line because if we don't do it now, we might not be able to do it. That's why. It's an excellent explanation. This is a very richly justified attack against this regime. Now, what about some of the disruptions? to international oil flow and prices and the economy and the markets gyrating all over the place. These are fair concerns. Jamie Dimon, who's CEO of J.P. Morgan Chase, smart guy not always on the right by any stretch,

but he appeared on Fox and Friends, interview with Brian Kilmeade. He was asked about this. I think he was calm and wise and circumspect in his take on this. Cut 10. You know, like the markets are unpredictable, and it's hard for me to tell you exactly, But I think they're just looking at, is there a chance of something can go wrong? Now, we should all hope nothing goes wrong. We should all hope that these bad people are, you know, that we win this thing and clean up the straits and that Iran is no longer a threat to everybody.

But the markets will be concerned until it's over. But I think it's very important. It's much more important that this be successfully completed than what the market does. Right. The near-term questions about what the market's up to and oil prices, that is real impact on people. I'm not saying it's a non-issue by any stretch. But in the larger picture, zooming out, having perspective, having this campaign against the regime be successfully completed

is much more important, he says, than what the market's up to right now. I think that's exactly right. He finished that point here and cut 11. I hear some people say, you know, they weren't an imminent threat. You know, a threat means I'm threatening you. I might do something bad. These people have been doing something bad for 47 years.

They've been killing people. They've been killing America. They funded that terrible Hamas thing. Several Americans were killed on October 7th. And so they've had proxy wars. They've been threatening people. I think people are surprised to find out that had a ballistic missile and go 3,000 miles. These are bad people, and they needed to be stopped.

And just who decide what? Now, I don't know what the military knows. I don't know what President Trump knows. I just think now we've got to finish this thing and finish it right. I think that is precisely correct. And I'm glad that he said it. I wish more Americans would hear perspectives like that. I think Marco Rubio made a very strong case in the clip that we played,

and we'll hear tonight how President Trump lends his voice to this wider debate. And really my guess is we're going to get an explanation of what and why. Some of the details will probably remain scant because he does not like to telegraph to the enemy what we will or will not do. But I think he also wants to reassure people here at home. this is worth it. It's not going to go on forever. This is not going to be some nation-building invasion. So it's, I think, fascinating. I'm eager to hear from the president this evening. Now, despite all of that negativity from the news media and from the opposition party from moment one, not per se rooting for the Iranian regime, but effectively in some cases doing that,

nitpicking and rooting for failure because they hate Donald Trump and they hate Israel so much. In spite of all of that negativity, there's a new poll out that's, I think, pretty heartening. I'm Guy Benson. We're back. I know that a lot of people in the so-called news media like to highlight the worst possible polling data about the operation against Iran because it's just, all bad all the time if it's Trump. I think it really is that simple. That broken brain. When there are better data points on public opinion, those largely get ignored because it doesn't make the journalists feel happy.

They want to feel like they're in the majority and everyone agrees with them. So when that's complicated, it just gets ignored, but not here. I've mentioned other polling that shows very mixed views. some negative public opinion on this conflict, which we support. Right, I'm not bearing my head in the sand, but I also want to bring to your attention this Harvard Harris poll, not some right-wing poll commissioned by Harvard. I believe the Democrats have a four-point lead on the generic congressional ballot in this poll, but they also asked about this conflict, this operation. 76 percent say the United States is currently winning the war against Iran. Obviously, we're dominating. We asked General Keene about this.

He just left. Like, oh, my God, yes, we're winning, but you really wouldn't know it from a lot of the coverage. Nevertheless, a lot of people seeing through that, 76% say we're winning. Large majorities, supermajorities say Iran violated the nuclear deal and view Iran as a direct threat to the United States and our national security. 67% say Iran a leading source of instability and terrorism around the world. All of those views are vast majority views and true. 68% of Americans correctly believe the Iranian people don't support the regime.

73% of Americans support Israel over Hamas. I wish that number were higher. A majority say the campaign is justified, 54%. I think that would be higher if they heard Marco Rubio, for example. But a lot of the support for the war is split politically between Republicans and Democrats along party lines, which I think is sad.

We're to get to our guests in just a moment, but first a Fox News alert this just coming across, a joint statement from the Senate Majority Leader John Thune and the Speaker of the House, Mike Johnson. and apparently they've spoken with President Trump as well, and it sounds like there might be a resolution in store on this DHS shutdown that the Democrats have inflicted. I've been critical of Republicans on Capitol Hill, or as it were, not on Capitol Hill, the last couple of days,

while the issue is unresolved, but maybe that is changing. Here is what they write in this statement together. I'm going to quote, We appreciate and share the President's determination to once and for all bring an end to the Democrat DHS shutdown. In the coming days, Republicans in the Senate and House will be following through on the President's directive by fully funding the entire Department of Homeland Security on two parallel tracks through the appropriations process and through the reconciliation process. We appreciate that Senator Graham and the Senate Budget Committee have already initiated. the process of developing a budget resolution that will ensure border security and immigration enforcement will be funded for the balance of the Trump administration and insulated from future attempts by the Democrats to defund those agencies. We operated under a belief that while our country is in the midst of an international armed conflict, Democrats might finally come to their senses and understand that defunding our homeland security agencies is beyond reckless and very dangerous.

While we hope they would accept the 60-day CR to fund the department entirely so that bipartisan negotiations would continue, it is now abundantly clear that Democrats place allegiance to their radical left-wing base above all else, including their own power of the purse, which means open borders and protecting criminal illegal aliens. That is not acceptable to Republicans in Congress, nor is it to the American people. We cannot allow Democrats to any longer put the safety of the American public at risk through their open border policies, so we are taking that off the table. In following this two-track approach, the Republican Congress will fully reopen the department, make sure all federal workers are paid, and specifically fund immigration enforcement and border security for the next three years so that those law enforcement activities can continue uninhibited. In return, Democrats will once again demonstrate. straight to the American people, their support for open borders and keeping criminal illegal immigrants in America. Okay, that is the statement that just minutes ago came out from the two

Republican leaders of each House of Congress, apparently having spoken with the president as well. With that, let's bring in Congresswoman Beth Van Dine of Texas. It's great to have you back on the show. Welcome. Thank you so much. I appreciate you having me back on. You bet. So I have been very baffled by the decision of congressional Republicans to pass two different bills out of each house that are not compatible with each other and then going on recess while all of this is still going on. I have blamed the Democrats up and down for this shutdown. It is theirs. They own it. They wanted it. They celebrated it. They voted to continue it over and over again. But with Republicans in charge of Congress, I felt like not resolving it and then leaving town, was letting Democrats off the hook and not a responsible play. I know you agree with that. Now we have this breaking news.

I just read the letter from Johnson and John Thune. What's your reaction to what you just heard? Well, look, I'm hopeful. I'm optimistic, but I'm also a realist. And I've been to this game before where we're going to come together. We're going to be able to pass these things that are going to be able to support immigration and customs enforcement only to be let down. So while I'm optimistic, while I am curious, wanting to see.

what that's going to be. I also am pretty much at the bottom of a row. And I know you have gone through this evolution on illegal immigration, you know, especially during Biden's years of open borders. And you've seen that escalation as a violent crime that, you know, that people like of Riley and Sharon and Gorman, I know that that really hit home for you. Yes. And I have been in this fight, though, since I was on city council here in Irving, Texas. I have seen the victims. the devastated neighborhoods, the rape houses, the illegal alien gangs that are running wild, and I fought them with everything I could. This is personal to me.

I forced my city council to start a relationship with ICE so that we could hand over criminal aliens. And we helped save our city. And man, I was slandered as everything, racist, bigot, xenophob. And in my family paid a price. and my kids, my kids paid a price. And it was brutal. But this fight saved American lives. It saved our community.

So, you know, just forgive me that if I'm not, I'm going to accept the cooked-up garbage that the Senate just blew up in the middle of the night, that none of them, by the way, even voted on, but none of them objected to. But that defunded ICE and CBP, and it drag us back to the open borders in the illegal immigrants, and criminal rampaging, the killing, the destroying of our fabric of our country that we saw so often during the Biden administration. And I'm not, I'm not going to do it. I'm not going to do it

now. I'm not going to do it ever. And I'm not going to stop fighting because, as you know, Guy, the price is too high. I mean, how many more of our daughters, our sisters, our mothers have to be slaughtered just because they're out for a jog or they're kayaking on a lake or they're walking in the park. I mean, how many more deaths does it take for the Senate to care about the lives that are at stake? I know the Senate, like, talks about how it's genteel rules and the world's most deliberative body. But if John Thune was serious, he would bring them back. He would not ever have let them leave. He has got to have the spine to call them back from recess and to win this fight for those families of those dead Americans. otherwise is he really even leading the Senate.

And you can't negotiate with apathical liar like Chuck Schumer. I mean, Chuck Schumer cares about two things, right? First, saving his own skin from basically the psychotic American, you know, hating Marxist base that he's terrified of. And second, keeping as many of these tens of millions of illegal immigrants in the country as he can because they want to hold on the population failing sanctuary cities, like states like California and Illinois and New York, just for census purposes.

because they get to keep their congressional districts and they're concerned about the electoral votes. Because God forbid, if those criminals are deported, Democrats will lose their seats, they will lose elections, and they will never sniff the White House again. So this is for the Democrats an existential fight. They will never be honest negotiators. And they will endlessly move the goalposts as we have seen time and time again. So why are we playing their games? they need to use the power that the American people gave us when they put us in the majority. Okay, so there's a lot to unpack there, and you're right that I definitely got more radicalized on the immigration issue after what we saw in four years of Biden, Harris, Majorcas, and I've talked about that here on the show a lot. I know that you know that.

And in fact, some of the examples of horrible, heinous crimes being committed by people who have no right to be here in the first place, sadly, there are a few more examples that we've just learned. about today in the last 24 hours, I'll be talking about that in the next hour on this show, some of those details out of Northern Virginia. I want to come back to the politics and the voting on Capitol Hill in just a moment. But before we move on from the human cost of this and the importance of securing the border and internal enforcement, I know you were talking about what you did in Irving, Texas, I know this also came home to you just last year, right? You had a nominee for one of our service academies that was attacked. Tell us about that. She was a beautiful 18-year-old, Eva Moore from Grapevine, Texas. And she was out with her family

swimming on Grapevine Lake, and she got mowed down by an illegal criminal who had never should have been in our country, who then, after striking her, didn't even try to help, but took off in a car and left the scene. They later arrested, but found a bit. be here illegally and never should have happened. This was a beautiful woman who was on her way to the Air Force Academy. I went to her school. They recently had an event for her and was with her family, with her friends. And I will tell you, you really never know the depth of this pain until you have looked into the eyes of a mother and a father who have needlessly lost a child. see their soul, you see their hearts broken. And I'm tired. I'm so tired of seeing Americans

cut down every week. I'm tired of politicians acting like this is normal or as the Democrats do, they just ignore it all together. And it's time for John Thornton to wake up to understand that the Senate Democrats only want to cause chaos. They stop trying to work with us for forever ago. And they do not care about anything other than keeping power. But we need to continue delivering. on the America First agenda. And whether that's through reconciliation or never allowing the Senate out of recess for anything for the rest of the year

and making people drop like flies from a talking filibuster, I don't care. And I don't think the American people do either. They just want to see justice. They want to see security. They want their families protected. And it's time for the Senate to work as hard for the Americans as Americans work

to hold this beautiful country together. And I just don't see them taking this. seriously. They are still using this as a political pawn, but they have not faced the reality of talking to these families, because if they did, they would see what is at stake. Okay, so the Senate passed by voice vote, as you mentioned, this bill that funds most of DHS, but does not give additional money for both ICE and Border Patrol, and the Border Patrol piece, I think, is pretty revealing as well. That is what the Senate passed. And the House said, no dice, we don't like that for various reasons, and I'm very sympathetic to those arguments.

You guys passed the two-months CR saying we're funding all of it for a fall of it for two months, and you guys can keep negotiating in the meantime. Plus, these people have to get paid. This is nuts. And the Democrats have made very clear, dead on arrival. They had Chris Coons waiting to object if the Republicans brought it up. Chuck Schumer says it's going absolutely nowhere because they've been filibustering that kind of spending bill now for a month and a half. So, you know, you're kind of stuck here with what the Democrats are willing to do and not willing to do.

It sounds like President Trump got on the phone with Speaker Johnson and John Thune said, you know, we cannot keep doing this. We can't. We're in charge. We have to do something. So my interpretation of the letter that I just read before you joined us, Congresswoman, is that the House is going to take up the Senate bill and pass it. And then also, both houses are going to go through reconciliation to fund on a party line basis with not needing any Democrats to go along and reconciliation since you guys have civil majorities. Three years worth of funding for CBP and for ICE so the Democrats can't do this again for a period of years. Is that combination of actions something you're willing to support? again the devil's always in the details that while that sounds good so many things have to happen for example you have to be able to get the house majority all in the same page in a reconciliation package and for

somebody on ways and means like i was who worked on this bill the first reconciliation on bill for two and a half years i know how hard that was um everybody's going to have something they're going to try to get out of it everybody's going to have a a fight on their hands. So just to assume that we're going to pass a reconciliation package, which the White House and my own chairman, Jason Smith, was saying just a month ago that that was going to be impossible to do, I think will be a very, very hard race. That being said, I'm willing to look at it, but I know in a reconciliation package we're talking about having a tax component, we're talking about having a health care component. We're looking at having now a component for a DHS funding. I think

it's ridiculous that the Democrats have been holding up for every single time they absolutely can on the security of our country. And so I am all in agreement that for the next three years, fund it so that we don't find ourselves time and time again in this place. The House has done wonders. We have passed 12 appropriation bills. We have proven over and over again that even the bears of a majority that we can pass the America First reforms. By the way, to the great disappointment, as you know, of these chattering heads in D.C., but, but, but Mike Johnson, he's actually been an incredible leader, and against all odds, he has delivered on the priorities. But I think to assume that we're going to be able to get a reconciliation package signed by June 1st, I think is what the president had posted out.

I think that will be a lift. I am all for it. I will stay in D.C. for as long as it possibly takes to get that done. I just don't know how realistic is. Maybe it's not June 1st, but maybe by the end of the year, you guys have this opportunity, another bite. at the Apple on reconciliation. And I mean, the Democrats have made clear they will not give one dollar. Keep in mind, by the way.

But keep in mind when you say by the end of the year, there's something between now and the end of the year. It's called the midterms. Yeah. So we don't have between now and the end of the year. And in August, it's typically August recess. And in years where we actually have elections, they want us home in our districts campaigning.

So we are not there in August. We're also not there in October. So this needs to get done sooner than later. so that June 1st deadline is a pretty strong deadline. And a lot has to happen between now and then. Now, these bills have already written themselves. We have already been talking and fighting for these for a number of years. We have bills on all of those topics that I mentioned that Republicans have put forward.

But it's getting the agreement from everybody on the House, you know, the GOP conference side of the House, and then making sure that they've got their 50-plus votes in the Senate, I think will be a heavy lift. I'm willing to, I'm on the whip team, I'm willing to whip that. But I also want to make sure that we are not sitting here playing games with TSA, with FEMA, with Coast Guard, with ICE, with CBP, like they have been. Very quickly, before I let you go, last year's reconciliation bill was the working families tax cut, the big beautiful bill. Just a quick headline here from Yahoo! This is a couple weeks ago. Tax refunds jump 14% over last year.

The lead of the story, early tax filers are enjoying a windfall with refunds up double digits over last year. According to the latest IRS tax filing data, the average refund totals $2,476, a 14.2% boost over the same week last year. That's more take-home pay for Americans, which is what you guys promised and delivered. I know it's not like sexy to talk about, but that was one of the driving factors behind last year's achievement. I just wanted to get that in there and give you 30 seconds to respond. I appreciate that. That was our focus, is to make sure that people got to keep more of what they made and less in inflation, less in energy costs.

And that's exactly what has happened. If we look at the regulatory fight that we took on, to make sure that Americans are paying less for gas, paying less for electricity, and making sure that they're taking home more, whether or not that was no tax on kids, no tax on overtime, increased tax deduction for kids, We're setting up these savings accounts for children for the future.

All of this was so that we could have working families we're getting to take home more, spending more secure, as well as working on the fight of regulatory to bring down prices. This is what has been a focus, working, making sure that we're bringing businesses back from overseas to have more jobs, higher wages. Wages are now outpacing inflation. Those were all part of bills.

Policies matter. This was a massive bill that we have not gotten able to talk about enough because it seems like we're always fighting some kind of fire. Yeah, there's no, there's some new battle every three seconds, but I want to just pause and highlight that success. Congresswoman Beth Van Dyne of Texas on Guy Benson, Congressman, thank you so much. And the thing is, and we won't get bogged down to baseball too much. To me, the fact that this pitching staff over five games has given up a total of three runs is wild.

Yes, they are unstoppable. Well, I mean, we'll see how long it lasts. But right now, so good. Very pleased with the pitching. And I'll leave it at that. I'm trying to be more optimistic about the Yankees this year than I was last year for various reasons. And let's just check back in in July and then again in September. Fair.

All I would add is, you know, the only reason I brought it up is you're watching this as a fan. I'm watching this as a guy who might be turning tricks behind the stadium if they don't cover the spread or win the bet. Well, that's a choice, Jimmy. Yeah, because to be honest, guy, even when they do win, sometimes I'm just out there for the love of the game. Thanks for calling me on that. That's the kind of friend I need more of. I do see that you're at a lot of the games in the Bronx, so at some point you're going to have to, like, invite me to come with you.

But, yes, let's get to a game at the stadium sometime this year. Believe it. A couple things I want to talk about here and just get your reaction to. It is April Fool's Day. We're not doing a bunch of that nonsense on the show. Are you a fan of the April Fool's Day prank? Does it annoy you? Have you ever been victimized or victimized others in a memorable way?

Any thoughts there? Yes. So I love pranks to be clear. But the only one I ever pulled was not April Fool's. It's a pretty viral. I don't know if you know this. When I was a cab driver, we filmed a video, a prank called Snakes and a cab that got 50 million likes before YouTube took it down. And the New York City Taxi and Limousine Commission hold me in for a hearing that was featured.

on TMZ Live. I'm not even making this up. You probably don't know this, G.B. No. Oh, wow, you're going to love this. So it is on YouTube right now, but it's like the fifth version of the video that's been posted. So it does not have 50 million views. It might have a few hundred thousand. But I once did a prank where I was interviewing people in my taxi with a 14-foot Burmese albino python riding shotgun. And the minute they got in and said they were going to like 86th and fifth, I'd hit the meter and let the snake go. And we just had a series of reactions to people noticing the snake and screaming all kinds of wild profanity. Now, to be clear, I don't like snakes. I'm not comfortable in their presence, so I was just as

scared as they were. But if you haven't seen this prank, it will change your entire outlook on humanity. We had to go through the underworld layer of animal handlers. And we had to find a woman who showed up in a belly dancer costume. And it wasn't until we were a day into shooting that I saw all the bite marks on her hand. And it dawned on me that this prank could, in fact, go wrong. But so. So it did not occur to you that there might be a liability problem. Subjecting your passengers to snake. Guy, the reason you wind up driving a taxi on your 40th birthday is not because you've given a lot of

valedictorian speeches over the years. I wasn't exactly a proactive figure. I owed a bookie 40. The snake will be fun. I owed a bookie $43,000 that I didn't have and I had a five-month-old at home. I was like, you know, this prank could go viral. It did. It did.

Did it get you paid at least? You want to know what it did do? I'm not making this up. I once got a pilot that paid not much money for taxi pranks. So I was heavily invested in the prank world early on. It didn't go anywhere. And I continued to drive my cab and do stand-up. And then, of course, Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s Cory Booker is the reason I'm on Fox.

They saw me and put me on our Fox business show. Is your presence on Fox News an elaborate prank? On society. Yes. People came here with some expectation. It's basically like a dating app. You've been told you've got this great, profound thing showing up, and then, you know, I walk in. I'm the intellectual equivalent of a dating app lying to you.

Yes. You got me there. Good for you. I have not covered this next story at all. You can explain it as you wish to my audience. I'm just going to say three words and you can respond however you see fit. Kristi Noem's husband. Well, it's funny because if you really wanted to reduce this to the most communic-

You know, the easiest to communicate take on the situation. He was obviously into, I guess they'd call cross-dressing is what he was into and had these. We've just learned this. Large breasts and everything. Many of us learn this against our will, by the way. Yeah, thank you. But, you know, long story short, she's just the latest in a long line of politicians to be hurt by inflation. good night everybody got to go

but yeah it was cross-dressing but isn't it funny guy and I tweeted this so forgive me so I won't say it in a joky way but it is funny that obviously in the Republican Party our reaction is like well this is a little out there but the God's honest truth is that makes him a viable congressional candidate if he were a Democrat 100% like he'd be fundraising off this

instead of meming off this the way we are on the right there's always been some weird stuff around her and her relationships and who she's close to and this is like one more piece of information about it i have not wanted any of this information and yet has been thrust at me repeatedly by other people and now here's some more information i'm like oh okay um then and someone actually sent me because remember the uh the guy who did the big fake breasts as yes the professor yeah the professor the teacher to make a point i think it was up in Canada, whereas, like, I'm going to be this cartoon character, and you can't fire me because of these civil rights laws that you've enacted. And he, like, really committed to the bit to make the point. Someone who sent me a note being like, you've got to send this story to Gutfeld because Greg covered it all the time.

And I know you commented on as well. Like, was this Kristi Noem's husband, moonlighting as a teacher? This seems like a role he was born to play. Well, she certainly wasn't moonlighting as a faithfully married woman. Not even trying. Yeah, it wasn't even attempting it. And in a weird way, I think he wanted to get caught as a means of heaping an additional pile of unfavorable media coverage on the woman he clearly wasn't a big fan of. On her.

Okay. Finally, Tiger Woods, a dangerous situation, yet another rollover crash. Now he's stepping away from the game to get help. I've seen all sorts of reaction rolling in. What's yours? It is shocking to live in a world where Tiger Woods has been arrested more than Tiger King. You know, as a man who was around during the pandemic, they only got Tiger King once, and you could argue Carol Baskin deserved it. But one way or the other, you fully concede that if you were hiring an Uber driver tonight, you'd want it to be Tiger King a lot more than you wanted to be Tiger Woods.

Could you possibly do some sort of Jimmy Phala, Tiger King crossover, taxi prank involving a large, deadly cat of some sort. I mean, I should because I'm clearly doing a Tiger King crossover with my wardrobe half the time. You got me there. You know, we actually should do, Guy, and you're the brain

child of this? We should put together some type of a ride share offer for Tiger Woods as people who genuinely care about him, and I do still have a taxi license because the way my TV show and radio show go, you got to hold on to the backup plan just in case. See, a lot of callbacks here. We've

I'm Guy Benson. We are back. I want to talk about a Supreme Court ruling that came down yesterday. Not to be confused with the oral arguments today, highly anticipated, closely watched on birthright citizenship in that case. And the consensus from Legal Eagles seems to be that the justices were quite skeptical of the Trump administration's arguments in the that case, and we'll talk about that with guests in the days to come. This is a different decision, different case involving a Colorado law banning for minors, so-called conversion therapy for sexual orientation or gender identity. Colorado law banning it was ruled unconstitutional by the U.S. Supreme Court yesterday, and there's been a lot of reaction to it. Some people have asked me what I think about it. And so I often.

a fairly lengthy explanation of that on my Twitter feed yesterday, Guy Benson, you can go look at it if you want. Let me just give you my thoughts because they are nuanced and were not actually very conducive to a snappy tweet. I had multiple bullet points that I wanted to address. Now, the first one is because a lot of people were out there saying, oh, look, this right-wing Supreme Court has attacked gay rights again. and they're endangering the lives of LGBT youth. That's what some people instantly said about the case. And on that point, I had to note it was an eight to one decision by the high court. All the justices except for Jackson, who is so often out on an island by herself,

in fact, she got smacked down very hard in a concurrence by her fellow liberal justice, Elena Kagan, who seems to be a little miffed and exasperated with Ketanji Brown Jackson from time to time. Even Sotomayor will stiff arm Ketanji Brown Jackson in a number of these cases where she goes off the rails. This being one of them, this was an eight to one case. Elena Kagan and Sotomayor joined all six of the right-leaning justices to invalidate Colorado's ban on so-called conversion. therapy. So I wrote, if your hysteria or your agenda requires you to pretend or claim that Sonia Sotomayor for crying out loud is part of some extremist dangerous crusade to hurt LGBT youth or whatever, no one should take you seriously. I also urge people to read a passage from Justice

Elena Kagan in her concurrence in the case. This is from the AP coverage of the ruling. A state could similarly not ban talk therapy designed to affirm a minor's sexual orientation or gender identity, Elena Kagan wrote. Once again, because the state, in this case Colorado, has suppressed one side of a debate while aiding the other, the constitutional issue is straightforward. She wrote, that's Elena Kagan. The leftists who now run Colorado decided that even talk therapy on these issues must be banned, but only on one side of the question. Clear-cut constitutional violation. First Amendment issues on speech, on free exercise, parental rights questions caught up in this, of course, as well. When you have even Sonia Sotomayor, Elena Kagan is, I think, the smartest and most common sense justice on the left on the court.

but Sotomayor joined in on this as well. It was that obvious. And Jackson just had her whack-a-doodle loan descent in this eight-to-one case. You just have to, I think, willfully mislead your audience if you want to tell a story through a headline or a quick social media post that it's a right-wing court doing violence or harm to LGBT Americans or kids. you have to glide past or completely ignore the fact that it was 8 to 1 with even Sonia Sotomayor on board on the constitutional question. And there's also this one that the outrage fomenting victimhood merchants won't tell their audiences. The majority opinion in the case was written by Neil Gorsuch, conservative justice. He's the one who expanded LGBT rights in a case called.

called Bostock in 2020. He authored that decision, which was six to three. A point that I've raised before against the fearmongerers out there. And they all celebrated that decision at the time, and then they immediately put it kind of down the memory hole when there's a story to tell about the evil right wing court. Right? Even the next day, it's like, okay, we got that one victory notch. Let's pretend like it didn't exist because we have this other political. partisan ideological story to tell and an agenda to push.

And just recently, as we covered on this show, this exact Supreme Court declined to take up a challenge to the same-sex marriage case from 2015. As I predicted they would, by the way, and all the fearmongers were saying, they're going to overturn Obergefell like they did with Roe. I said, nope, for all these reasons, that's not true. Take a breath. Stop hyperventilating. Don't listen to these people.

They're lying to you. I was right. They were wrong, and they also don't want to acknowledge that with their headlines and their selective backlash. On the underlying question, by the way, I wrote that I generally believe sexual orientation, quote, conversion therapy to be quackery that can be harmful to those upon whom it is imposed. I also pointed out that if you're an adult and you want to live your life apart from innate same-sex attractions, you can pursue whatever avenues you see fit, although I have profound doubts about the efficacy of that. Have at it, you're an adult making choices for yourself. I also personally find so-called conversion efforts on sexual orientation

to land somewhere on the futile, inadvisable, damaging spectrum. But also many ideas and practices with which I personally disagree do not merit government bans, especially in areas that intersect with the First Amendment, religious practice, parental rights, etc. I wrote, I'm very uncomfortable with the state swooping in and engaging in what the Supreme Court has now struck down as speech suppression and the enforcement of viewpoint orthodoxy. Last two stray points, there is an important distinction between religious and values-based talk therapy versus some of the horrors and abuses, in some cases, including physical harm, that have been employed in this realm in the past. right there have been stories about conversion camps and other shock therapies and stuff that is just absolutely heinous and abusive that's not what i'm talking about here i'm talking about talk therapy

which is why to such a large extent this was a first amendment issue in the eyes of the court and then finally because they've lumped together in my mind sexual orientation and gender identity i just wrote given the surge in detransitioners blowing the whistle on gender identity experimentation on minors and the social contagion effect on some of the trans stuff, and they're increasingly winning lawsuits related to that, by the way. I think that grouping in sexual orientation conversion with trans-related therapy is a category error altogether. I don't think that they are actually the same thing. So that was just sort of like some scattershot thoughts on what was treated in some quarters of a lightning rod controversial decision, but actually it really isn't that

controversial, as evidenced by the coalition of eight justices who landed on the, I think, correct constitutional conclusion that what Colorado did violates the Constitution, which is separate from saying all conversion therapy is absolutely great and I endorse it. Nope. Sometimes you have to hold competing thoughts in your head and work through them, which is what I've tried to do here. And because some of you asked, I answered, and there you have it. But there are updates. One of which is brought to us by the man that I call the only journalist in Virginia. Courtesy of Fairfax County, Virginia, there they go again. Cut 26. Listen here. Hey, it's Nick Monaco with 7 News. another illegal immigrant was arrested for murder in Fairfax County, Virginia. Law enforcement sources tell me that this man is in the country illegally. He's from Guatemala. He's 38 years old.

Fairfax County police say they arrested this man on Sunday after they went into a home at Bailey's crossroads in Fairfax County, where they found a man suffering from stab wounds to the upper body. That man was pronounced dead at the hospital. Now, this is one of two recent fatal stabbing in Fairfax County. You might recall last month that Stephanie Mentor was murdered at a bus stop. And police say an illegal immigrant murdered her, stabbed her. And of course, we've spoken with Stephanie's mother who wants to see Virginia Governor Abigail Spanberger and Fairfax County officials like Jeff McKay, Stacey Kincaid, and Steve Descano to do more to protect the public.

They're not going to do it. They're going the other direction. as we've mentioned multiple times, the fake moderate Abigail Spanberger on day one of her governorship came in and took the sanctuary policies that are causing so much bloodshed in northern Virginia and applied them to the entire state. That was a day one, literally day one priority for Abigail Spanberger. After the Stephanie Minter murder stabbed to death at a bus stop by a man who'd been charged 40 previous times with crimes, in the country illegally, warned about by police in written emails, like documented, to Steve Descano's office, the pro-crime, pro-criminal prosecutor, begging them not to let him go, warning he would kill eventually than he did after he took Stephanie Minter's life, allegedly,

right? They still need to prove it in court, but the evidence is overwhelming. After he did that, there was an effort by the one Republican on, I believe it was the county board in Fairfield, facts to say, can we please revisit these sanctuary policies? And the rest of the board said, no, we're going to keep them right in place just as they are. And now here we go, the example that we just heard there from Nick Minnock, yet another murder in Fairfax County by an illegal immigrant. There were some follow-up details on that grizzly murder from Minnock. Not sure who else locally is covering these stories at all. The perpetrator allegedly used a machete to hack his victim to death. And that's not all. Here's a tweet from Minok following up on this.

Let me quote, two years ago, the murder suspect was charged in Arlington, Virginia for assault and battery. A female victim accused him of punching her and attempting to strangle her. That case was dismissed. You can read the Arlington County Commonwealth's attorney's explanation on why the case was dismissed and then he has a link. So this was someone known to authorities in Northern Virginia. And you can just swap out the names of these counties. Arlington, Alexandria, Fairfax, Loudon, these are the deep blue places where these types of people get elected. prosecutors against prosecution. And they all, of course, very compassionately have their sanctuary policies in place as the guiding light for the whole state now under Democrat control and Governor Abigail Spanberger.

This guy didn't immediately graduate to murdering someone, having entered the country illegally previously. He was known to authorities in another deep blue. neighboring county, Arlington, where he was charged and arrested after a female victim came forward saying that he attacked her and attempted to strangle her and beat her. But they decided to cut him loose. That was two years ago. He's been walking free for years. Of course, he was not reported to the feds by Arlington County after this arrest because of sanctuary policies. He with the feds to get someone like this deported. That is how enlightened they are in Northern Virginia.

So he just remained in the community, as they like to say, and went next door to Fairfax County, and now apparently, according to authorities, has murdered a man with a machete. So congratulations, ladies and gentlemen, on the progress that is being achieved in places like this. and I'm not finished yet. Bill Malugian, our colleague here at Fox, with another development.

This was earlier this afternoon. He sent it over to me with a few details. He's looking into whether this guy has previous arrests or charges. But here is Malugin's tweet. Breaking news. I'm told by two ICE sources that a, quote, Virginia father is charged with murdering his three-month-old infant daughter in Fairfax County, Virginia. He is a Guatemalan illegal alien who entered the United States as a gotaway. He's now charged with murder, and ICE has filed a detainer. Now, of course,

it is the policy in Fairfax County and now in Virginia not to honor such detainers. Even after Stephanie Minter was stabbed to death at a bus stop in Fairfax County, Governor Abigail Spanberger still was not on board for honoring an ICE detainer against that guy. Her standard instead is some sort of judicial warrant that requires a federal crime to have been committed. This is the Democrats spin that they put on this. When the easiest thing in the world done in non-insane places run by non-insane people who prioritize public safety over literal criminal illegal immigrants, they phone up ICE, the sane of.

authorities in places with sensible policies. They phone up ICE and they say, hey guys, hey gals, we've got this illegal immigrant in custody because he's done allegedly X, Y, or Z. Do you want to come pick him up? Or if ICE says, excuse me, local or state authorities, we're putting a detainer on this person, they say, okay, we'll hold him, come get him. The opposite is the case in these sanctuary jurisdictions and the death toll continues to mount. We talked about it yesterday, and here we are again talking about it today. Not because I'm flogging the same stories from yesterday. These are two different murders.

And now, if you can keep track of this, I know it's hard. There's so many of them. Just three in the last few weeks in Fairfax County, Virginia alone. Home of sanctuary policies, home of a Soros DA, Steve Descano, who doesn't like to prosecute criminals. and I feel like it's almost a special protected class. If you're an illegal immigrant and a criminal, they're really looking out for you.

If you are in this country illegally and you want to murder someone, it's a very good idea to commit the murder in a place like Fairfax County, Virginia. Because the prosecutor doesn't like to prosecute and the politicians love illegal immigrants and don't care if they're criminals. They are more interested in posturing about Donald Trump and playing their own weird ideological games, then even enforcing laws, aggressively and effectively against anyone who breaks them,

but it's like especially they are lax on illegal immigrants. So it's a welcome, Matt. These sanctuary jurisdictions talk about, oh, we're just here to protect the poor abuela who's been here for decades and has never broken a law and pays taxes every year. and all of that pillar of her community. That's the story that they tell.

And what ends up happening is people like this or these, because now there's two alleged murderers that we're talking about here, they are protected. They are enabled, they are empowered, they are emboldened, and then, as we've seen in both of these cases, or at least one that we know of, lower-level crimes graduate to alleged murder. I just want to look at the lethal blood-stained scoreboard in Sanctuary Fairfax County.

Just in the last approximately one month, you had the illegal immigrant who stabbed Stephanie Minter to death at a bus stop. In the country, illegally, 40 prior charges, the most serious ones dropped by Steve Descano and team. Then he kills Stephanie Minter. He was just put back out over and over and over again onto the street, over these strenuous objections and warnings of police. Descano and team did not care. Out he went and into the grave went Stephanie Minter. And when Nick Minnock catches up with the governor about this

and wants to get reaction from her about the grieving family's request that she change her crazy policies on this, she tries to blame ICE, just brazenly blaming ICE for the consequences of her preferred policies in Deep Blue Virginia that she is now emulating across the state. She passes the buck to ICE,

which is absolutely shameless and then gets into her SUV and they speed off. So that's February 23rd, was that murder. Then in late March, you had the murder that we just talked about, a man beating allegedly his own infant daughter to death. I cannot imagine the depths of that evil. Truly cannot. But that's what he's charged with.

Again, Fairfax County. In the country, illegally. Protected in a place like Fairfax, and now he has allegedly killed his own child. that was March 27th. And then March 29th was the machete hacking death by a man with previous run-ins with the law, accused of violent crimes in the country illegally, protected in Northern Virginia,

and now apparently has committed murder. Those are three examples of the fact pattern since the end of February. Just during that time frame, And I will remind you one more time that it is against policy in Fairfax County where all of these things happened to cooperate with ICE. And this is the reward. This is the reward that innocent people get for that politically calculated, I would say, depravity of these elected officials. And I guess the people of Fairfax County have decided the voters, if they keep electing these kinds of people, that they are perfectly fine with a certain amount of murder.

It's almost like a murder tax or a rape, maiming, and murder tax that you pay in order to feel like you are very progressive and pursuing progress in your community. And if certain members of that community have to get killed from time to time, or three times in the span of a month, for example, in order to make sure that you have these pristine feelings about your progressive bona fides, well, so be it. Let's just hope it's someone else, and not you or one of your loved ones. And I guarantee you, if they tried again to revisit these policies, these sanctuary policies in Fairfax, even after this trifecta, this deadly, lethal trifecta, they're not going to budge. They are absolutely committed to sanctuary policies, illegal immigrants, and criminals. I know it sounds absolutely nuts to say things like that, but it is their words, their deeds, their official policies that illustrate the point, not accusations from people like me pointing the finger.

The last couple of days we're learning about these murders in the last 24 hours. And it happens over and over again. Democrats try to avoid the story as much as possible. Nick Minox, like the only guy asking about it. And you get the blame shift. Oh, I should have gotten that guy. Well, follow up. No, thank you. In the SUV, bye, bye. In another example, the lieutenant governor averting her eyes trying to run away from Nick Minnock, not answer those questions. That's their general posture, right? They don't really want to talk about this, these terrible

inconveniences in the form of dead bodies that might complicate the story that they like to tell about what wonderful human beings they are. And if you'll notice, I ran through that terrible roster. One was a beating death of the baby. One was a machete death. And one was a machete death. stabbing of a woman, not a firearm in sight in the commission of those crimes. So the typical boogeyman that might perhaps cause a Democrat to comment on a murder like this is unavailable to them. They can't blame the gun. They can't because there wasn't a gun in any of these particular murders. And so best keep your head down and say nothing at all. And as the body count rises, Oh, well, apparently, that is the price, the cost of progress.

I'm focusing on Fairfax County because it is like ground zero of this madness and the danger over and over again. But unfortunately, as we addressed yesterday, it's California. It's Illinois. Sanctuary jurisdictions often offer a green light to people who have no right to be in the country to commit various crimes. And when they realize they can get away with it and they've been granted basically impunity by local authorities, bad seeds, this is not all immigrants or illegal immigrants, obviously, but when you let 10, 12 million people cross the border illegally in the span of four years like we just did, you're going to have some very bad, dangerous people in that

group. And when you send the signal, we're here to protect and champion you, they're going to get the message. And so this is what, unfortunately, will continue to happen over and over again in these types of places. It is breathtaking to me that sanctuary policies are legal at all in this country, let alone how prevalent they are, given the consequences, the fallout, the heartbreak, the outrage. but the political agenda and the political performance trumps everything else it would seem on this issue. And if you think the Democrats writ large are moderating on the immigration issue,

you are not paying attention whatsoever because of examples like this and the fact that we're currently in a DHS shutdown because the Democrats don't want to give one additional dollar to ICE who would throw these kinds of, of alleged murderers out of the country. They don't want them operating. And also, by the way, they don't want to fund Border Patrol at the southern border either. They are not moderating on this issue. They have not learned the lesson at all. They are running in the other direction.

thelongdrink.com. joining us now is bethany mandel co-author of the bestselling book stolen youth she's a writer she's a podcaster and she's back here on Guy Benson bethany great to have you thanks for having me guy all right so i want to get your reaction to something and i'm sure you have some thoughts on it at a CPAC gathering recently a daily wire personality named isabel brown had this to say about family formation and having kids cut 21 if you're not encouraging your child to grow up and have the courage to get married and have kids, more kids than they can afford before they think they're ready.

It is high time to start. It is these choices like deleting our dating apps and quitting birth control bills and saying I do at the altar that ultimately trickle down into the political policies that we will see save our country. All right. So really not that hot of a take, Bethany, like, hey, get married, have lots of kids. You may not feel like you're totally ready and financially able to do it, but people have muddled through for many, many generations and having kids is great

and having big families is great. That's what her point was. The ladies over on the View, which is a daily, nationally televised insane asylum, they were very, very, very upset about that advice. Here's a little

tasting menu of what they had to say in response. Cut 22. What is she, what? What the? What? What? So, my ultimate beef with this, is that it wraps a woman's worth up in her ovaries. Bottom line, if you're not paying my bills, you don't get to tell me what I do with my uterus.

I think it's just really reckless to be suggesting that people should have children. When you now know in this country there's this affordability crisis, and for a two-person household, a married household, you need over $400,000 for child care. Over $400,000. Most people don't make over $400,000. So she's advocating for people to be born into poverty, people not being able to feed those children, people not being able to educate those children, and people not being able to house those children.

Okay. So they treated Isabel Brown's suggestion that people get out there, get married, have lots of kids. Like it was a stunning affront. You heard that montage, Bethany, including Sonny Hosten, saying that it's reckless to suggest that people should have chance. children at all in today's America. I think that she probably gravely misunderstood the child care cost study that someone put in front of her. I think she misinterpreted that dramatically, not surprisingly. But I want to let you break this down, because you have how many kids, Bethany? I have six.

Six kids. That's a lot. Okay, so I have one with a second on the way, and I'm nervous for two. But six amazing. Your family is thriving and messy and glorious and all the things. When you listen to Isabel Brown and what she said, and then that segment on the view, what comes to mind? What would you like to impart to this audience? So there's so many things.

First of all, the $400,000 figure is wild to me. She claimed, I don't think that you played the rest of it, but she claimed that it was annual. You had to make $400,000 to pay for child care. Every year. Every year. What kind of child care are these women? men taking part in. And they're saying this is the national average. So the math doesn't math. I think that's number one.

Well, it doesn't even cost $100,000 to send someone to Harvard for a year. Like, what are they talking about? That might be over the span of a lifetime. I don't know exactly what they put in front of her and she just spouted it off. But that was obviously a misinterpretation and distortion. Yes, 100%. And this is the disconnect that I think a lot of the women of the view have that reminds me of those clips of presidential candidates when you ask them a question that is as simple as how much does a gallon of milk cost? How much does an egg costs? What is the gallon per, like what is the per gallon price at the pump right now? And they have no idea. Because these women don't have children. They certainly don't have children in childcare.

But I find kind of weird, and this was not the only sort of anti-baby segment that they did. they did another one today, where a woman said, you know, let me know how your breasts are doing after you have babies. As in like, if you have babies, your body is just shot to, shot to heck, and that's why you shouldn't have children. I think it's weird that they're doing this while their co-host is on maternity leave. Yep. It feels like one of the many myriad of ways they've bullied their conservative, and I'm using that term very liberally, their conservative co-hosts. It feels like they're shading her with all of this. And by the way, it is the supposedly right-leaning host who's out because she had a baby, right?

And leaving all the apparently anti-procreated ladies behind to dump on having children and by extension kind of doing the same for her? Yeah, yeah, no 100. It's really catty and weird. And everything that we've come to expect from the view, you and I are both friends with Meg McCain. We've heard all the stories about the horror stories. Yeah, the awful way that they treat conservative co-host. And I think that this is them doing that to her again.

Over the course of her pregnancy, they did a lot of weird, passive aggressive stuff at her. One of them was Whippy Goldberg, asked her on camera, on air live, are you pregnant? And she wasn't. And she was having fertility issues. And it was a really cruel, awful thing to do to her on camera. So don't underestimate the fact. fact that this could just be the ladies of the view trying to torment the woman who is home on maternity leave.

Who, by the way, agrees with them, I think, far too often and doesn't really stand up for conservative points of view enough, in my view. That's my take on it. But she is not hard left with them, and therefore, I guess, sort of like the enemy or the person that needs to be shamed and treated this way. And exactly this type of woman also turns around and says, women's supporting women. They have all those slogans, but it doesn't apply to certain women. The other thing is, Bethany, like one of the hosts saying, this wraps a woman's worth up in her ovaries.

I don't think that was the point that Isabel Brown was making at all. I don't know, Varo chiming in saying, unless you're paying my bills, you don't get to tell me what I do with my uterus. That's an applause line, I guess, for the clapping seals in the audience at a show like that. But again, I don't think that's actually addressing Isabel Brown's point at all. and then Sonny Hauston, who might be the least impressive somehow of that bunch, saying, oh, what they're really advocating is for people to get born into poverty with no ability to eat or even have a roof over their head. What is you talking about?

You've had big families from poor households for all of human history, and those kids survived, and many of them went on to do amazing things in life, and they seem hostile to the idea that that's even possible. Yeah, they really have a distorted view of what it is to raise a child and what it costs to raise a child both financially, but also, you know, this idea that if every child, and this is a, this is something that's been going on on the left for a long time, the idea that if you don't have every penny of college saved, every penny of daycare saved, a five-bedroom house with live-in help, you're not ready to have a child. And so our generation, you know, late 30s, early 40s and down below are all sort of putting off childbearing until they feel ready financially. And what is Bill Brown is saying is you're never going to feel ready and you're never going to be ready. You're never going to have that much saved. And what's amazing about having children is that you're more likely to make more money because you have a fire under you all of a sudden.

And you're like, wait a second, I need to save for college. I need to pay for daycare. I need to pay for formula and diapers and all of them. those things, and it makes you a better earner. And so Isabelle is saying, and this is something that Dave Ramsey even says, it will come. The prosperity will come, but don't put off having children because you have a finite window, and they are such a blessing to you in every realm of your life. And it's a really feel-good, very innocuous message that they've decided to read as very nefarious. Isabel Brown wants to control your overemary.

No, she doesn't. She's just saying you should do things that can perpetuate our civilization and our society that also make you happy and more prosperous. It's really a win-win for you as an individual and, you know, the macro level, us as a society. Yeah, but it seems like the reaction, they want to don their performative, like, red cloaks and white bonnets and do the whole play acting thing. And just to make one more point on this, Bethany, you mentioned you have six kids. kids. I mentioned in your introduction that you are a best-selling author. Your co-author has, what, three or four kids? You guys managed to achieve all this success and be working mothers with all of these young kids at the same time. How is that possible, Bethany? Right, right. I, you know, I'm tired. But it speaks to this, you know, you have a fire under you. I have a fire under me

financially because my earnings pay for things like summer camp and all of that fun stuff. But I also have a fire under me because my book was about the political indoctrination of an entire generation. And I care a lot more about that. I care a lot more about America, a lot more about policy and politics and cultural, all these things. And the future? I am really invested in it now because there's six people that I want to make sure that in the future, they're going to be okay. and they're going to be in a country that is viable. And the women of the view only care about seeing it burn. And that is something that I think everyone needs to be aware of when they watch people like this

and when they listen to people like this. They don't have skin in the game the same way that parents do. And it shows. In the swamp, not of the swamp. Guy Benson. We are back. It's the happy hour. It's Guy Benson. Bethany Mandel is with us. Bethany, I want to turn to a very separate subject. Israel has passed a new law.

involving the death penalty for terrorists. Here is how Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib of Michigan lied about the new law. And she's very, very obsessed with Israel in every way. She will have crickets on her social media feed about all sorts of atrocities and horrors around the world. But if there's a lie about Israel to amplify, she is at the front of the line to do so. So Congresswoman Talib tweeted the Israeli government is about to pass a law mandating the death penalty only for Palestinian prisoners, mass execution by hanging solely on racial lines. This is apartheid and the next step in the genocide of Palestinians already systematically tortured

in Israeli prisons. So a lot of dishonesty in that tweet, which was responded to by many people including this guy Mark Goldfetter, who said false. The law establishes the death penalty for convicted terrorists who carried out murderous attacks. Death penalty is triggered by conduct, not ethnicity. The fact that you think it applies only to Palestinians, speaks volumes, and stop quoting specially designated global terrorist organizations because Rashida Tlaib's initial tweet was, quote, tweeting, a terrorist organization engaging in this propaganda.

Bethany, part of the problem that Israel has is they haven't executed convicted murdering terrorists, and then in these swaps, these totally lopsided so-called prisoner swaps, where Hamas, for example, will have innocent hostages, and Israel will have convicted terrorists, and they will exchange these people usually in totally disproportionate numbers. Part of the reason that these terrorist groups have the leverage is because Israel hasn't been executing these types of convicted, hardened, bloodthirsty terrorists. So this law would apply to murderous terrorists. And yet there is this international condemnation from a lot of these,

not just Rashida Tlaib to the world, but the Europeans and all sorts of other people who are in favor of any number of horrific moral atrocities, or at least are willing to sweep them under the rug, but the death penalty, especially if meted out by the Israelis against terrorists, that is a bridge too far. I wonder what your thoughts are on this. So it's a little bit of showboating when it comes to people on the right in Israel. It's probably going to be struck down by the Israeli Supreme Court. That said, Mark Goldthutter was totally on point.

He's a brilliant international lawyer who, this is what he does. This is his bread and butter is talking. and working on these kinds of issues. But the reason why on October 7th, so many hostages were taken, 250 hostages, was because they had value, because they knew that they would bring home a lot of Palestinian terrorists in the exchanges.

It happened with Gilad Shalit, who was an Israeli soldier who was taken hostage and traded for 1,000 Palestinian prisoners, including the mastermind, of October 7th. So it is, if this were to go through, which it won't, I don't think, it would disincentivize that kind of behavior. Unfortunately, that means, you know, if someone is captured, they're going to be killed. But there's going to be less incentive to try to capture people. Lord knows, terrorists in Israel all try to kill as many people as they possibly

can anyway. That's their, that's, you know, what they do. But. Well, they murdered a bunch of the hostages, right? They kept some of them for this leverage, but they murdered a ton of the hostages, including those poor Bebis babies, right, who were innocent children taken hostage by Hamas. They were not convicted terrorists. I mean, it's, again, this moral equivalency between innocent people kidnapped versus terrorists who have been captured and tried and imprisoned for acts of terrorism and murder. this is not morally or ethically the same at all, but a lot of people are trying to conflate these issues to, as usual, paint Israel as the inhumane bad guy.

And it's really, it's really craven. The, you know, babies were taken, people were taken from their homes. That was the vast, and, you know, from a music festival, for God's sake, that was the vast majority of the hostages who were taken. And what was really disturbing was, you know, there were a lot of dual citizens who were. taken, both, you know, Americans and French and Venezuelan. And there wasn't an international outcry in response to that from the governments, the people who had their citizenships.

And one would think in a perfect world where everything made sense and Israel was treated as a country just like any other, that the countries who had their citizens abducted on October 7th, like France, like the United States, like Canada, speak up and say this would disincentivize the kidnapping of people that share our citizenship. We have skinned. But they haven't done that. Instead, they're denouncing Israel for this. And other people have also pointed out nearly all of the Muslim countries in the region have the death penalty.

But you don't see these Western countries going after them for that. It's just one double standard on top of another, which is how Israel is treated as the Jewish state. There's a term for that. and we've talked about it a lot here on this show. Bethany Mendel, we've got to leave it there for now, by her book Stolen Youth, along with Carol Markowitz, especially relevant in the conversation that we had to start today's interview. Yes, they are unstoppable. Well, I mean, we'll see how long it lasts. But right now, so good. Very pleased with the pitching. And I'll leave it at that. I'm trying to be more optimistic about the Yankees this year than I was last year for various reasons. and let's just check back in in like July and then again in September.

Fair. All I would add is, you know, the only reason I brought it up is you're watching this as a fan. I'm watching this as a guy who might be turning tricks behind the stadium if they don't cover the spread or win the bet. Well, that's a choice, Jimmy. Yeah, because to be honest, guy, even when they do win, sometimes I'm just out there for the love of the game. Thanks for calling me on that. That's the kind of friend I need more of. I do see that you're at a lot of the games in the Bronx.

So at some point, you're going to have to like invite me to come with you. I would know, listen to me, and I owe you that, because you care so much about me. You invited me to Newark, New Jersey, to watch the Devils. A couple times. Was Tehran booked? Why Newark? Wow. I'm kidding. I love it. I know. Thank you. But, yes, let's get to a game at the stadium sometime this year.

A couple things I want to talk about here and just get your reaction to. It is April Fool's Day. We're not doing a bunch of that nonsense on the show. Are you a fan of the April Fool's Day prank? Does it annoy you? Have you ever been victimized or victimized? others in a memorable way. Any thoughts there? Yes. So I love pranks to be clear. But the only one I ever pulled was not April Fools. It's a pretty viral. I don't know if you know this. When I was a cab driver,

we filmed a video, a prank called Snakes in a cab that got 50 million likes before YouTube took it down. And the New York City Taxi and Limousine Commission hold me in for a hearing that was featured on TMZ Live. I'm not even making this up. You probably don't know this, G. No. Oh, wow. You're going to love this. So it is on YouTube right now, but it's like the fifth version of the video that's been posted. So it does not have 50 million views. It might have a few hundred thousand. But I once did a prank where I was interviewing people in my taxi with a 14-foot Burmese albino python riding shotgun. And the minute they got in and said they were going to like 86th and fifth, I'd hit the meter and let the snake go.

And we just had a series of reactions to people noticing the snake and screaming all kinds of wild profanity. Now, to be clear, I don't like snakes. I'm not comfortable in their presence, so I was just as scared as they were. But if you haven't seen this prank, it will change your entire outlook on humanity. We had to go through the underworld layer of animal handlers. And we had to find a woman who showed up in a belly dancer costume. And it wasn't until we were a day into shooting that I saw all the bite marks on her hand. And it dawned on me that this prank could, in fact, go wrong.

But so. So it did not occur to you that there might be a liability? problem subjecting your passengers to snake. Guy, the reason you wind up driving a taxi on your 40th birthday is not because you've given a lot of valedictorian speeches over the years. I wasn't exactly a proactive thinker. I owed a bookie 40. Hey, the snake will be fun.

I owed a bookie $43,000 that I didn't have and I had a five-month-old at home. I was like, you know, this prank could go viral. It did. Did it get you paid at least? You want to know what it did do? I'm not making this up. I once got a pilot that paid not much money for taxi pranks. So I was heavily invested in the prank world early on. It didn't go anywhere.

And I continued to drive my cab and do stand-up. And then, of course, Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s Cory Booker is the reason I'm on Fox. They saw me and put me on a Fox business show. Is your presence on Fox News an elaborate prank? On society. Yes. people came here with some expectation. It's basically like a dating app.

You've been told you've got this great, profound thing showing up, and then, you know, I walk in. I'm the intellectual equivalent of a dating app lying to you. Yes, you got me there. Good for you. I have not covered this next story at all. You can explain it as you wish to my audience. I'm just going to say three words and you can respond however you see fit.

Kristi Noem's husband. Well, it's funny because if you really wanted to reduce this to the most communic- You know, the easiest to communicate take on the situation. He was obviously into, I guess they'd call cross-dressing is what he was into and had these. We just learned this. Large breasts and everything. Many of us learn this against our will, by the way. Yeah, thank you.

But, you know, long story short, she's just the latest and a long line of politicians to be hurt by inflation. Good night, everybody. Gotta go! And usually I'm on pretty high alert for various pranks that are played. Sometimes in following tweets and stuff online, I will lose track of what they, you know, and what they're date is and will at least briefly fall for certain things. I try not to.

Christine, I feel like April 1st has to be a nightmare scenario for you because I'm not sure gullible is the charitable term, but I feel like you believe things reflexively and then react very strongly to things on any given day. So you must be a very popular target. on April Fool's Day? I definitely am. I already fell for two things, one on Facebook and one on Twitter. I had sent you one I fell for already.

Well, I almost fell for it. But one, I fell for on Facebook, and I was ready to write, like a comment underneath it, like seething, angry, and then I had to stop myself. Because didn't I say in the show planning meeting, I have to be careful.

This day was made for people. Wait, so the things that full, you happened after you gave us that little speech on the call? Yeah, huh? Because it was part of like news, so I thought. So I wasn't, I don't know. Yes, yes, I have no explanation. I fell for it.

There was one thing that was on Facebook. It was from like a local Jersey paper. And it said that we had to start tipping in New Jersey at New Jersey. stations because they're self-served. And like, I almost just lost my mind. Well, aren't they not self-serve? Yeah, full-serve. Yeah, full-serve. I'm sorry, we're full-serve. Like, you can't actually pump your gas here. So it said that, like, lawmakers just passed the law that said, like, you have to tip. Like, it's part of the law now. And I was like, wait a second, gas prices are ridiculous as it is. This was a bad time to do that. And that's what I almost wrote. And then I was

like, oh my goodness. And then I looked at the comments and everybody's like, that's not funny guys. And I realized it was April Fool's. And then I also on Twitter follow the state of New Jersey Twitter handle. And they had mentioned something about like no longer being full serve in New Jersey. And then I realized, I'm like, nope, I'm not falling for it. April Fool's. Even though you.

But I would like to do this one. Yeah, I know. I know. Yeah. Yeah. You had a really bad one when you were growing up. I know you've told this story before, but Dylan hadn't heard it. They did you dirty. Was it high school? It was so sad. Like, poor cooks. Yeah, I was in high school. I think I might have been 16. And I had this huge crush on this really, really cute football player. He was like this popular guy. And I was friends with him, but like I really wanted to date him. And some of my girlfriends went up to. him and said, like, you should ask Christine out on a date. It's April Fool. It'll be hysterical. So he did. He came up to lunch. I remember he came up to my lunch table and he asked me if I wanted

to hang out like that weekend. And I was like freaking out to my friends. And they all started laughing. And I was like, what? And they're like, April Fool's. And one of them I didn't speak to for like a month, like my very best friend because I was, I was so sad. I was so sad. And mortified. I was so embarrassed. I think that's a low blow. It was bad. It's like one of those things. Like you know, you have those core moments like growing up.

You're like, ooh, like that will always stick with me. That was a bad one. Yeah, I think that goes beyond just like the fun, silly nature of April Fool's Day pranks that can actually mess with someone. Maybe that's what happened to you, Christine, or were you like this before that event? No. No, I was like this way before. Oh, that, no. Okay, not formative. Not formative. Traumatizing, but not formative. Got it.

Correct. Yes. Okay. Meanwhile, I got to talk about this. I tweeted the other night, in fact, I had to look up, it was March 30th, so just a few nights ago. 10.45 p.m. I was just on the couch, I think, watching sports. And I saw on my Twitter or X feed, Guy Benson, a tweet that was either retweeted into my feed or had been served to me or something. And it was about something that I just don't really care about at all. Very little interest. But it was from an account about entertainment news that said the show, Gray's Anatomy, has been renewed for season 23.

Season 23 of the, I believe, hospital drama, Gray's Anatomy, which I remember being all the hotness with some of my female classmates when I was in college, which is not recent. They would talk about Gray's. Did you see the last episode of Grey's? So they've apparently just kept that show going, and it was just renewed for season 23. And the photo that came with that tweet was a picture of the star of the show. her name. I've never seen, I have to confess, I've never seen a single episode of this show. I'm not interested. It's not my genre. I don't think I was the prime audience for this show, but I recognize her. She's relatively famous because she's been on TV doing this role. She's a doctor for decades. And the photo of her, she just looks kind of forlorn and exhausted in the photo in her lab coat.

I guess this is a screenshot from the show, but she just looks like spent. And so I just retweeted the tweet about the renewal for season 23 with that particular photo of her. And I wrote, even she looks exhausted by this. And I hit send, I published it, and did not think about it again. And I didn't see a bunch of retweets or anything in my notifications because apparently this tweet took on. with a bunch of people who I don't follow, right? My normal audience of political Twitter and things that I normally am engaged about,

stop watching because it was like really getting to me. Like I would come to me like this was like a life altering episode and like I would say I'm like changed just because of this show and he's like, okay crazy. I think it's time to stop watching the Grey's Anatomy and I did and I never watched it again. But that look that Meredith had on the tweet that you posted, like that's just such a, I haven't seen it in 20 years and that's just such a Meredith look. Is Meredith the character or the actress? Meredith Gray.

And they would say, oh, yeah, welcome to season 50 or season 60, whatever, of Grey's Anatomy. So I got a kick out of that. The last point I will make on the subject of viral. tweets because this reminded me. I sent it to my cousin. We're on a text chain together with a few other people. He had my cousin one of the best viral tweets of all time. It still pops up occasionally on Instagram and other channels because it's that good. It was a tweet. I want to say from like 2022 thereabouts. And it was Delta Airlines trying to get engagement. and Delta Airlines asked the question, name a city that changed your life to get people talking about international travel and destinations and all that.

And my cousin replied, Wuhan. So good. So, so good. And that went everywhere. And like, I wish he could somehow get royalties for that because he deserves it. That is one of the chef's kiss viral tweets of all times. in a one-word reply, oh, just absolute perfection. My Gray's Anatomy observation pales in comparison to the Wuhan tweet.
