65 segments770 a.m. 92.5 FM, WVNN. Dale Jackson here with you. Jeff Boer joins us on the Alabama A&M through a $50 million Bulldog Hotline. We always appreciate him taking the time to join us and talk with us. We always appreciate him spending any time he has with us. He is a host at FM Talk 1065 down in Mobile. He is with 1819. and Breitbart there in Washington, D.C. We got a lot to discuss on all sorts of fronts here. So let's start down in Mobile, Jeff. And again, he joins us on the Alabama A&M $350 million Bulldog hotline. Jeff, that bridge down there, wouldn't it be nice if we called it the Gateway to the Gulf of America, the Donald J. Trump? presidential bridge to the future. Isn't that delightful? What a delightful name for it. Isn't that something that seems rather appropriate for Barry Moore to be calling for? I mean, it sounds like it's just a way to get him to help pay for it. It's already done, though, right? I mean, isn't that already paid for? No. I thought it was part of the infrastructure bill. That's another reason they're attacking. This is a very, like, this is very expensive project. And it's all, it's all sort of patchwork financing. And a toll's got to be part of it. And, you know, they, you remember we, in 2019, everyone was up in arms over a $6 toll and killed it. Well, guess how much the toll is going to be now? 11. $8 at all. So, I mean, each way. Now, that's the baseline toll. There's a bunch of other workarounds to get the toll down. But it's just they just went and did it last week, the finance authority. And I think, I mean, I am not, maybe Barry Moore does have this undying affection for Donald Trump. But I could also see this being like, hey. You help us on this, and it could be part of your legacy. Okay, so let's just say that that is the case. I doubt the bridge will be done by the time Donald Trump leaves. I mean, I assume it will take much longer than that to build. Will we need other presidents on board? To name it after him or to get it built? To get it built. No. I mean, once that money's led, it's there, and it's construction goes. I think you should have after Nick Savant. That's my response. But your reasoning makes more sense than anything I've heard so far. I mean, I'm cynical, but I look at it's like, well, that's kind of smart because all of a sudden. One you have, the guy is going to be the next junior U.S. Senator from Alabama making that pitch. All of a sudden, he's kind of interested on this big, big, big, beautiful bridge, right? Yeah, I agree with that. I agree with that. I just don't like the name of things after people who are still alive. But name it after Mitch McConnell instead. That's what they should do. So that would probably be a bad. Yeah. I mentioned this. I got a video coming out at Yale here now later on. And it's kind of funny.
Because we'll name prisons after Kay Ivey, and we're going to name a bridge after Donald Trump. It's like, maybe just wait until these people are no longer with us or no longer serving before we start naming things after them. The Shelby stuff always bothered me. This is no different. Let's get into some serious stuff here that's happening in the state. Tuberville is, you know, politicianing. I mean, this is the most politician thing Tommy Tuberville's done so far here. RSA! No, that's perfect. It works. It's not like Social Security. Social Security's headed for trouble. RSA works, says Tommy Tuberville. And I think to myself, no, dude, they're literally very similar. Both of them are going to be, you know, in big trouble financially. One of them, well, they both are actually already. And we're just going to end up writing checks for them out of the Treasury. That's literally the same thing. But. I guess there's a scam going around that he wants to privatize the RSA, which I've never heard anyone say. Why is this now coming in just so they can tie it together? Fear mongering, trying to kind of blur the... The prospects and get people who are collecting from RSA all bothered about this, perhaps, and kind of set some boundaries with Tommy Tuberville. I mean, this is like politics one-on-one here, I feel like, and they're just kind of throwing this out there, and then all of a sudden it becomes a third rail. Yeah, and then Tommy Tuberville goes, yeah, I'm not doing that. And we know that's not going to be good enough. I mean, that we're just going to say he's against Social Security, therefore he's against RSA. I mean, I got to tell you, Doug Jones comes off as, you know, and this is just me saying this, stupid and desperate. I mean, he is, he is, I don't think he's a dumb guy, obviously. He's not, he's not dumb. I'm not suggesting that. But he comes off as, I mean, he is playing to like the most simplistic. stupid people in Alabama politics. And maybe you have to do that to win. I don't know. But he just comes off as desperate. This is just desperate. Do you think he's playing to people in politics or he's playing to crazed people who will send him money? You think it's a national play? Yeah, because I mean, it doesn't, I mean, he talks a lot about Alabama stuff. But there's a lot of ad hominem there, too, that may be a part of it. And I'm sure he's trying to play to, I don't know, the African-American vote, maybe. But there's also, you know, the wrinkle of the MS now sort of rhetoric. And that's what it feels like to me. Yeah, I don't know. The whole thing seems weird. It doesn't strike me. I don't know if he believes the stuff he's saying. I think that's probably it that I don't believe that he does. He just looks foolish. He won in 2017. Do you remember any of his policy pitches? Yeah, he liked abortion a lot. I remember that. I remember going on Chuck Todd's. But that wasn't like a stump speech pitch. You don't remember any of it because there was nothing to remember.
Well, I'm not saying that Tommy Tuberville at all is Roy Moore. Maybe that's what he's trying to make Tommy Tuberville out to be. It seems like you're going to go back to the well here. Why don't you do what you did in 17? Why do you need to do your Rachel Maddow's check? Well, the thing is this, Doug, I think you've drawn this out here, is that Doug Jones didn't really do anything in 2016. He was 17. He was more of a beneficiary of the smears against. Roy Moore. He didn't actually have to do anything. He didn't win because of who he was. Yeah, but he let all these other... All these other people do his heavy lifting for him. Yep. And he kind of ran to good old boy all shucks. You don't really, you know, know, I mean, I was kind of fooled for a little while. And, you know, he was just, he was like a Ron Sparks more than he was Doug Jones circa 2026. And, you know, that was fine. That worked for him. This isn't, this isn't working. This didn't work in, when you tried it in 2020. Why are you doing this now? Yeah. Well, maybe that there's a point there to be made. All right. Doug Jones also decided he's an anti-data center, a position which I guarantee you he just made up. Okay. I guarantee he doesn't believe the stuff he's saying on this. But it's working. I mean, I will just tell you, I think it is absolutely working. The Republicans apparently have a memorandum that has gone out that has said to these big tech CEOs, guys, you might want to chill out here, you're killing us. You're going to cost us Ohio. You're going to cost us Senate seats with this. Do you buy this? You buy that this is going to become a defining issue? I think it will. I don't know, maybe. A lot of it seems a little contrived with the data centers and I guess it just depends on how it's delivered. And, you know, this is an unforced error for Tommy Tuberville. I never understood why he needed to go jump in front of this train. But as such as it is, he did. And I mean, maybe it's just sort of, hey, you know, I got this thing wrapped up already. Well, I'm not even talking about the Tommy Tuberville side of it. I'm talking about elsewhere. I don't think, you know, Tuberville's going to win regardless. Like we all agree on that. Right. But the concern that I have is that this is effective politics because it's so stupid. You get the far left and the far right together on this. I've seen it. And again, the internet's not real life. I get that. But go look at any posts and what are you going to see?
I'm not voting for Tupper and Lowe. I didn't know that he was for these days. You're following for it again. Okay. Maybe says the guy. It's not real life. Yeah. I mean, we've seen this before, though. We saw this in the cycle with a lot of candidates and who ran. I mean, we saw it with like, I guess like Greg Albritton, he lost his seat. And he ran on a moratorium of data center. So I just, I don't know that it's people. People in our little bubble, yes, but you get outside of that. And probably most people are like, what's the data center? Yeah. I mean, somebody said it best. Josh Shapiro, the guy who's supposed to be running for president, came out the other day and said, we're going to do a moratorium. And if you're a big data center, you better stop trying to bully Pennsylvanians and all this other crap. And it's like, you know, if they came to him and said, hey, we're going to build a giant steel mill. He'd be like, hell yeah, let's go ahead and do that. We're a steel country. We're going to build a steel mill, which is far more damaging on every front that they claim they're upset about than a data center would be. But it's still effective. And it's effective because people are afraid of AI, which is stupid. People are afraid of tech companies. All these things kind of play into this. Flot cameras. That's another one. They're afraid of these things and they're playing into this stuff. I think it's somewhat effective. As much as I hate it, I think it's somewhat effective. And I think you're going to see a lot more of it. And Republicans like Tommy Tuberville have decided, nah, these things are cool. Because they're basically telling the truth and saying, no, we need these things. They're coming. And the Democrats are going, no, no, no. Data Center bad. Elect us will totally stop them, which they're not going to do. It's like a 5% issue. All that matters is the price of gasoline. And this is just very terrible. Okay, fair enough. Let's move on then. Let's talk about your former home state, my former home state. Yeah, he's former home state. The state of Florida. What happened down there? You got Democrats going all over the place. So let's go through what happened here. You have a new senator candidate for the Democrats running. She is a card-carrying Democrat socialist. You have a Republican running for governor, David Jolly, as a Democrat. He was a former Republican congressman. Now he's there. Alexander Vindman, the hero from the impeachment, loses to that Democrat Socialist candidate, Angie Craig, I want to say, but whose names escapes Angie Nixon, I believe it is, doesn't matter. But he loses to her. And then Debbie Wasserman Schultz, a Jewish person from a district she doesn't live in, goes over to a black VRA district, as Jasmine Crockett calls it, and steals a district from African Americans. Democrats had quite the day yesterday in Florida. Is Florida a lost cause for Democrats now? Is that just off the board? Yeah, well, I think, I mean, this is sort of the way it went for Republicans in Florida for a while. I mean, I'm not saying that like Ron DeSantis is the Republican equivalent of the DSA, but he beats Adam Putnam down there.
uh the the kind of establishment ad commission you know industry group guy i just i think this is what happens when you don't have a one party state when you do have like actual parties on the ballot And, you know, all the Democrats don't go vote in a Republican primary. And all the Republicans don't vote a Democrat primary, like in some states. And you get, like, very clear distinctions between the two parties. And I think that's absolutely what's going on in Florida to some degree that the people who are winning some of these races are just that they're more. They more identify with the modern Democratic Party. But they're all over the road, though. Because it's all different places, though. I mean, statewide, yeah, you know, but we, you know, congressional district and, you know, there's a lot going on. So here's my question to you. Let's go in the Breitbart world here for a second. She's a Democrat Socialist, a card-carrying member of the Democrat Socialist Party now, a Democrat Socialist of America, whatever we call it. She's a card-carrying member, no question about it. This is Florida. pro-cuba pro-communist i'm sorry i live there i know that's i was in a cuban family for seven years i mean this is crazy it's an it's an insane thing that they're going this far and i guess they're relying on young people and maybe this pays off five years or ten years from now uh but This is going to be, this is the equivalent of getting Francesca Hong on the ballot because Democrats, Republicans are going to be able to use her nationally, right? People don't vote that way. People don't go and say, okay, who's going to be the best candidate for right now in this situation? They go and they vote. They vote straight up ideology and party in primaries. They're not strategic in their thinking. That's not how this works in these states that, like I said, have a distinct two-party system. They go and they say, hey, this person identifies more with our belief system, and that's where these lines are drawn. They don't think about winning or losing. They believe that they are right, and right will prevail. Right, but when you get into the general election. But they don't care. Okay. Or maybe they think, maybe they believe this person could win, but they believe that this person is the, what we need is a Democrat. Because just put yourself in like on the Republican viewpoint side of it. That's sort of what happens on the Republican side. Like you have a, I mean, maybe Alabama's different, but it's not a game of like, okay, this gives us the best chance to win in November. Well, the reason I asked this question is, are they going to use, will they be able to use her as a weapon against everyone like they were thinking they were going to use Francesca Hong? And we've seen it with Roy Moore and stuff like this in the past where one of these races somewhere, they get a person who's maybe unacceptable or at least got damaged a little bit. You use them to beat other people with. Is that what they're going to do with her?
We'll try. I mean, she'll be the most famous person. Angie Nixon will be the most famous person on Fox News for the next month. But you and I talked about this. Probably doesn't matter. Okay, fair enough. Let's give us something that does matter before I let you go. The most overrated team in the college football playoff era is the Auburn Tigers. How do you feel about that? Based on what? Look, what am I supposed to tell you the answers here? They're based on their hype versus what they've delivered, the situation of overrated. Are they the most overrated team? I mean, I don't, I mean, they're not very good, but I don't recall like a hype train coming, you know, on the Auburnite. It's always like, especially like somebody who goes to most of the games, like. well you never know there's there's never been any any high expectations there i guess we we thought a little bit better if you freeze but i mean sitting here today before the season starts i'm kind of you know a hopeful best case scenario is like seven and four or something you know and i don't find that to be I think what this means here. I think the way they come up with this is since 2014, who has underdelivered more than anyone? And I think the answer is probably Auburn. Why did we pick 2014? Because that's what the official playoff era started. That's what they're going on. Somebody just said, hey, let's create a study that defines Auburn to be the most hyped team and let's pick an arbitrary date. This is the... quintessential Jeff poor conversation. Instead of engaging in the conversation, he's like, why are we engaging in the conversation? It's dumb. It's just like, well, 2014, like, why did we pick 2012? You know, like, I mean, who cares? I care. Anyway, back to the- No, you don't. You don't care. Don't why. You don't care. I wanted to bag on you and bag on Auburn, and that's the extent of the reason why I brought it up. Good Lord. All right. Number 11 is Alabama. Number 18 is Florida in this, but okay, we'll see. Florida. an anti-SCC thing? Well, the top two teams are Alabama or Auburn and LSU, so that could be something to it. Auburn versus Florida, who you got? Probably Florida. All right, I look forward to seeing you at the game. All right. Jeff Porth, thank you very much. Always appreciate him. What a fun guy. What a fun guy, Jeff Por is. Let's take a quick time out. We'll continue right here on WVNN. This is the Dale Jackson Show. Start your day with the morning jolt of Drake C. Toll. See, now it's on demand. My podcast is kind of a radio thing, I think, but also it's a bit of a TV show, and it's about whatever I want it to be. It's listening live as it happened, when it happened, with the instant reaction. You're home for talking sports. We go back, the Great Toll Show, Westwood One Sports Network, and there will be on demand on your radio. Anywhere in the country, I'll see you there. Westwood One Sports Talk, your home for Drake C. Toll. Follow and listen on your favorite platform. And I brought that up solely to bag on Jeff Gore and Auburn. And he's like, I'm not playing. I don't want any part of this. You don't care about this?
I mean, I don't know if I care about it, but I do think it's kind of interesting to see that Auburn has been picked as the most overrated team here by this list. And I like this list. I think it's an interesting thing to look at because for the list, if you go see it, you can see at Yellowhammer News.com. They talk about the overrated. teams in the playoff era. And the system that they use is basically this. You have a team where the expectations are high and they never live up to the hype. Now, the LSU Tigers are mentioned in this too. But they've won the national championship. They really have. Okay, Alabama's on this list as well. But that's just because the hype with Alabama is so damn high. And that's what I was going to get into with Jeff. I was going to say or ask him, you know, is thinking about the expectations here. And you're seeing those expectations come into play this year more than ever. You have a playoff team in Alabama where they're ranked number 13. and you have their fans always clamoring to get their coach fired because they only won one playoff game last year when guys like Jeff and I would kill from Florida and Auburn playoff win. I mean, I would love to see that. I would absolutely love to anyway. They've got a new coach down there and things could change. As to Florida. with what's going on there. The Democrat Socialists are not in charge by any stretch. However, and this is the important part I think, and what's going on down there, is that Florida's Democrat Party has imploded. There is, they're all over the road, all over the place. They have infighting and they have chaos. But. When this time comes, will they all coalesce around a candidate and try to make it a race? I don't know. It doesn't really seem like they are going to be much players in this at all because Florida continues to move a little bit more to the right even as their population shifts. And the broader issue with Florida is that they're about to pick up some congressional seats. And if it remains a Republican stronghold, They're going to redraw these seats. And they're going to redraw them in a way that's going to be very positive for the Republican Party. So, I mean, I hate to say this, but I am going to say this. Republicans need to hang on for a couple of years. Because if Republicans are able to hang on for a couple of years, the battlegrounds are going to get way, way different. And... electoral votes, the reason why Democrats want to do away with the electoral college, and they're going to try to do it. Make no mistake about it. They're going to try to do it. If they have control of the House, the Senate, and the presidency after 2008, they are going to redo the Electoral College.
They're going to do away with it because after that, they are going to have a very hard time with redistricting that takes seats from California, take seats from New York, and gives those seats to Texas, gives those seats to Florida. And if those states are controlled by Republican legislators, which it appears they will be in Republican governors. then you're going to see a very big sea change. That's the broader point in all of this, okay? That is the much broader point for it. Dale, you'd kill for a playoff win. Who would you kill? That's a good question. That's a very good question. Austin or Yaffy, if you want to hear an answer to that. Well, the best way to do that is to hang on to 10 with him. We'll put that in there. So if you want to get your questions in for 10 with him, you can do that right now. And you can get them in, and we will share those with you a little bit later on in the program when I get this voice guy situated. So you get your thoughts in there right now. Scout pest control.com, WVNM, hot take text line. That's one way to get in there. Another way to get in is to email me, although I can't check my email. You've got mail. Dale at WVNN.com. That is the downtown rescue mission.org email inbox. And there's the Coleman Furniture Market free speech phone lines. You can jump in right there as well. This person writes in and says, Auburn is always the stepchild. No expectation to be excellent. Expectation is to be a B minus team. The expectation is to be a B minus team. I don't agree with that. That may be reality, but the expectation is definitely not to be a B minus team. The expectation is far higher than that. So no, I'm not buying it. Have they always been the little brother? Yes. Will they always be the little brother? Yes. Even when they win national championships, they're going to be the little brother. That's just how people are going to see them. Are they the most overrated teams since 2014? Probably, yeah. I mean, that's probably a fair way looking at it. They've had a lot of high expectations and literally no delivery. It's the Dale Jackson Show. Start your day with the morning jolt of Drake C. Toll. See, now it's on demand.
