Vote 2026: Meet Hennepin County Attorney Candidate Cedrick Frazier!

We're continuing to analyze the results of the primary last week, so many different races. The one for Hennepin County Attorney has narrowed to Cedric Frazier and Anders Folk. Cedric Frazier took first place in this primary, so the first two candidates who finished top first and second move on to the general election. And Cedric Frazier got 36% of the vote. Joining us now on the John Schuster Coldwell Banker hotline is Cedric. Good morning to you. Congratulations on being the top vote getter, but there's still a lot of work to be done. How are you going to convince some of those people who didn't vote for you that you are the choice to replace Mary Moriarty? Well, thank you for having me on and thank you for covering this race. You're right. There's a lot of work to be done. We're going to head into November in a good position with momentum from the over 30,000 people that put us in the first place going into November. We feel really good about that. Look, now we're opening up to the broader electorate. We're going to continue to do exactly what we've done this entire campaign. That's meeting voters where they are, having conversations, answering questions, and continuing to build a countywide coalition that will take us through November for another win. We had a chance to talk to Anders Folk, your competitor, last week, and he outlined how he would be different than Mary Moriarty. Are you going to be a continuation of what Mary Moriarty has done? How will you be different? Well, I'm bringing over a decade of experience as a molecular official with the relationships that I've built from that, not to mention my lived experiences are quite different than more realities and also honest folks. Look, I am proximate to the issues that are impact, that people have been impacted by a system that, quite frankly, they haven't trusted in decades. That's why I'm the only, I'm the DFL indoors Canada in this race, and that's why I'm the only labor indoors candidate in this race. I think people want a leader that they know has been there with them, will be there with them, and will continue to be there with them to build a system that works for everybody and not just for some of the people. We are here for the people. We are here for the working families. We're here for the working people. And we're going to continue to do that work and show that case and to communicate with folks as we drive through November and win this thing in November. Are we tough enough on criminals in Haddepin County? Has Mary Mori already been tough enough? And what would you do to be tough on crime in this county? I will continue to make sure that if people are committing terror or harm in their communities, we're going to hold them accountable. That means some people are going to go to prison. I mean, that's just that that's the fact of the matter is what this office does. And what I like to remind people over 90% of the people come back into the community at some point? I think we need to think about what do we do to make sure that those people don't commit crimes again, that those people come back into the community and are able to meet their full potential to be productive members of society. I will continue to focus on and make sure that we keep all of our community safe. And the one thing I want to focus on, I want to say is like, look, even when we talk about crime numbers going down, we have to make sure that everyone within the county are feeling safe. And I've got to tell you, from conversations that I had, even when we talk about the crimes that ticks that's going down, there are people in certain communities that are saying, look, I still don't feel safe. I am still experiencing the things that I experienced years ago, and I want to make sure that I have a leader that's going to make sure they're talking with us.
