Hour 4: Troll of the week

I don't know if that's a big deal of them or not. I just think that it's ironic that the very first time we're electing a lieutenant governor, we could be re-electing a governor whose running mate isn't a Democrat. And it almost looks like it defeats the purpose. I don't know what's a deal breaker, but it certainly is a question. The other question, I think, for what the Andy Biggs campaign is going to do is they're going to say, first of all, Governor Hobbs is not a moderate. If you look at her veto record, if you look at what she's done in the past and the pieces of legislation that were passed by the legislature, she's vetoed more legislation than any other governor in history. That's not someone that says she's willing to work across the aisle because you can say certain things. And you can't, the one thing that I will say that she's not going to be able to do, no matter how much money they spend or how they try to control the narrative. If you label all of your political opponents as extremists, if you keep doing that, it falls on deaf ears after a while because you can't say I vetoed all that. I wouldn't, I wouldn't debate Kari Lake because she's an extremist. And I wasn't going to buy into the extremist rhetoric. I'm not going to debate Andy Biggs. Andy Biggs is an extremist. And so that's what they're saying, you know, all of that stuff. And then you're going to say when someone says, well, governor, you vetoed more legislation in one term than any other governor has ever done in two terms in the history of Arizona. Well, I had to veto extremist legislation. And you're like all of it, every one of those pieces of legislation was extremist. And so when you do that, I just think you are, it becomes myopic and that every reason, every excuse is just extremist, extremist, extremist. And you got to broaden that narrative. And I hope there, I mean, you know, I hope that there's going to be a point where people are asking real questions. And for Andy Biggs, Andy Biggs has got things to answer for as well. But someone said to me the other day, you know, the Stop the Steel thing that Andy Biggs was a proponent of. And someone said to me the other day in a message when I had Congressman Andy Biggs on, when I had Andy Biggs on the show when they made the announcement that seen occur and she was in studio with me as well. Why didn't you ask about this? And I said, you know what's really funny about that is if Andy Biggs. got the debate. And if Governor Hobbs debated Andy Biggs on the debate stage, the debate moderator would be able to ask him that question. And they would be able to clear the air on where he stands on Stop the Steel and the 2020 election. And you could ask him all the questions you want. But that's not going to happen. Not because Andy Biggs isn't going to debate, because Governor Hobbs isn't going to debate. Does that also mean that lieutenant governors won't debate? What if there's an invitation for a debate between Sina Kerr and John Giles? Does he debate?

And if he does, what does that say about the governor not debating? I mean, so all of these things are going to play a role in this. In the long run, it's going to be about, it's going to be about Hobbs and Andy Biggs. That's what it's going to be. Hobbs and Andy Biggs. And who the people in Arizona think is best equipped to lead the next chapter in Arizona. And I'm anxious to see how it plays out. It's a fascinating pick with John Giles. By the way, again, I don't know Mr. Giles very well. We've met on a number of occasions. We've actually shared the stage at speaking events together. He's a very, very nice man. That's one of the advantages, I think, for Governor Hobbs. He's a very well-spoken lawyer, very good man. He, you know, done a lot of policy work as the mayor of Mesa. He's been a chief executive of the city. I mean, there are positives for voters that are apolitical to look at and say that's a positive. I'm just curious about the narrative and which of these two campaigns is going to control the narrative better. That's what it's going to boil down to. Are they going to, is the Hobbs campaign going to be able to hang the MAGA extremist label around the necks of Andy Biggs and Kerr? And on the other side of this, will the Andy Biggs campaign be able to defeat the narrative that this is a moderate working for everybody across the aisle? And whichever of those two messages are most successful, I think wins that middle of the road independent voter and that's who's going to win the election. And we'll see. It's going to be a fascinating time. It always is. It always is when it comes to this. I want you to hear a little bit of the announcement. This is a little, this is what the governor said in her produced release of a video. I believe leadership is about who you're willing to fight for. And as governor, I've always fought for the people of Arizona by cutting taxes, securing our border, supporting public safety, and protecting Arizona's water. Now, for the first time in our state's history, we are electing a governor and lieutenant governor on the same ticket. And the first thing I looked for in a running mate was someone who shares that value of putting Arizonans ahead of partisan politics. So what's interesting in the policy conversation there are so many things there from my perspective because I'm such a staunch Republican that I want to pick apart all this stuff in policy when when this governor said she's proud of cutting taxes it makes me roll my eyes the biggest fight she had with the legislative leaders in the House and the Senate was over the Trump tax cuts that she changed her mind and didn't want There were some of those taxes. If it hadn't been, as a matter of fact, for the first time, both the Senate president and the Speaker of the House were on this show at the same time.

to say that we are not wavering. This is what the governor put out. And it was a full, I guess a full compliance with the Trump tax cuts. So the Arizona state tax code matches the federal tax code with the Trump tax cuts. She said it. She put it out. It's on all the tax forms. This is a non-negotiable for us. And she then allowed it to happen. Does that mean she cut taxes? That's what made me laugh about it. Protecting Arizona's water. We had housing get shut down in the West Valley because the governor scared everybody and said, we're running out of water, that there's not enough water to develop land in the West Valley. So from a political strategy standpoint, I don't know how much that means to anybody. But that's the first thing I thought of is somebody that's been watching this for a long time. But in the end, the messaging, it is we are not debating. We are going to do this with commercials. We are going to do this with controlled videos. We are going to set the narrative. We are going to carry the narrative. We are not going to change from the narrative. It could be a very effective strategy. There's no doubt about that. And we're going to find out. Brumhead reacts to today's hottest news stories. All righty, Mike, sad scenes in Western Columbia were a 7.4 magnitude earthquake hit, damaging more than 1,600 homes and taking the lives of about 200. Rescue crews are hard at work. A Canadian tourist told his account to ABC. It's such a surreal feeling. And I turned around and I saw the cabinet smash and I heard people running through the hallways and doors slamming. I was like, okay, maybe it's time to stop this video. and get out of the building. Earthquakes are no joke, Mike. Have you ever experienced one? No, I've never been in an earthquake. I've never experienced an earthquake. I've been around hurricanes. I've been around tornadoes. Water spouts it in tornadoes, but never an earthquake. And it seems terrifying. The videos I've seen are horrifying when they're bad because there's nowhere to run. There's nowhere to hide. And they happen without warning. And that's the part of the gets me. Even with a tornado, there's warnings and watches out there. With these things, there's really not much. time to do anything and it can be devastating right yep

Our nation's local law enforcement agencies have echoed what the FBI has been saying for months. Crime is down in major U.S. cities. Here's ABC's Jim Ryan with more. According to the major cities chiefs association, murders alone were down more than 17% in the first half of 2026 compared to the same period the previous year. Robberies, rapes, and aggravated assaults likewise were lower. The declines continued trend that reversed the crime surge that came during the pandemic. That's a good thing. thing, right, Mike? What do you think is contributing to these low crime rates? A lot of things. First of all, yes, after the pandemic, post-pandemic, there's no doubt that a lot of the enforcement by ICE is driving people out. A lot of people that know that, again, don't tell me that I'm saying everybody that was in the country illegally is a hardened criminal. But there is no doubt that the criminals knew that they were going to be deported and many of them self-deported, that a lot of these arrests have been putting a warning sign out there that there are people out here that were in this country. illegally that we're committing crimes and with those people gone it has been a drop in crime i think that's a part of it it's also the way the cops are able to do their jobs and when you look at the phoenix p.d and how they have done things where they are and it wasn't just phoenix other cities in the valley they're sharing of information they are doing things that are targeted towards high crime areas and specific crimes and when they do those things with their resources it drives crime down in the short term so i think all that together, put together, talks about the decrease. A new study from Rent Cafe shows that 54% of millennials in the Phoenix Metro were homeowners, which is a near 80% increase over the last five years. This is the time when people start forming families, when we start seeing increasing incomes because people are stable in their jobs. So I think this is just the time for them. Do you have any tips for these young homeowners, Mike? Buy low, sell high. I mean, it's just, I think that home ownership, what you do is you, they always say that you marry the home, you date the mortgage. So when you're thinking about interest rates, if you can get in, get in, when the mortgage rates drop, you can refinance. It happened for me. I bought a house. It was at six, a little over six percent interest. Nobody even thought that was a big number at the time. I bought the home at six percent interest. Three years later, rates dropped to three percent. I refinanced at three percent. I'm a happy guy. Get the house, you can always pay things down a little faster, and when the interest rates get better, refinance. And this comes a week too late. A main lifeguard is speaking out after he says a great white shark dragged him six feet underwater. Shark week was last week. Greg Wilford, who works at Scarborough Beach, was on Shark Patrol when he says something grabbed the rescue buoy that was strapped to his body and pulled. I knew I was in trouble, so I slipped out of the harness. And then I...

popped up to the surface and started swimming as fast as I could back to the beach. Moments after he broke free, a witness saw the buoy fly six to eight feet out of the water. Wilford wasn't hurt, and he quickly ran out and closed the beach. That's ABC's Hanna-Bata reporting. Being from Florida, Mike, what would you rather encounter in the water? A great hike or a gator? Gator. Without a doubt. Gators don't scare me. But listen, I'll tell you what happened. This is a real story. Now, Roller and I grew up on opposite sides of the state. On the Gulf side, the water is much more calm, it's warmer, and when the tide is getting going out, it's lower tide. There were guys fishing one night standing on the beach, and then they have sandbars, probably 60, 70 yards offshore. They were casting over the sandbar into the deeper Gulf water. Now, when we walked up, they had some fish that they had caught on the side of the beach. These were probably two to three feet long. baby hammerhead sharks that they were catching from the beach. Wow. So we asked him, what's up with this? He goes, Mama's here somewhere. Yeah. They were trying to catch Mama. Yeah. And so. I stay out of the water. Yeah, yeah. You've got to be careful, especially this time of year, because, yeah, especially the sharks, you know, up along the eastern coast there higher up. Yeah, this is their time of year. This is their time of year. And in the Gulf of Mexico, another thing you had to watch out for were stingrays. Because they are in very, very shallow water. And so you're taught to shuffle your feet when you walk. And if you step on one, they sting you. And it is no joke. I've watched people. People get really bad injuries from that. So stay out. Stay out of the water. That's their domain. They belong there. You don't. Don't mess with Mother Nature. Don't mess with Mother Nature is exactly right. The Mike Broomhead Show, KTAR News, 923, and the KTAR News app. Interesting debate happening today with people, both online and text messages from my friends, wondering why the conversation about Dr. Anthony Fauci and the shot. and pregnant women. And I don't know the answer. And neither does anyone else. And neither did Dr. Anthony Fauci. And this is where the problem for me lies. We were all told a bunch of information. And we were being told that by what the experts are that people trusted. And it turns out they either flat out lied or they didn't know or maybe both.

But Dr. Anthony Fauci, listen to some of the things we've been told. We were told by the president of the United States and the CDC director that if you get vaccinated, you can't get the virus. Then that was revised was if you get the vaccine, you can get the virus, but you can't spread the virus. So you will stop it. You can't give it to anybody else. And all of the people in the media. I shouldn't say all of. Many people in the media ran with that narrative because there was a segment of our society that said, I don't believe you. I don't trust you. So they were demonized. There was no tolerance for their doubt and their questions. And that's where we were so awful to each other. That it didn't matter what the legitimate concern or complaint was. So if a young mother or a young pregnant woman said, I'm worried about this vaccine and I don't want to take it while I'm pregnant, she would have been vilified, demonized. So I want you to hear a couple of things that are very important. Dr. Anthony Fauci was concerned enough about the data they had of women that were pregnant. in their first or second trimester, but this is specifically in the first trimester, that we're getting the vaccine and having miscarriages at a very high rate, 82%. He was concerned enough to tell the CDC director, And the future attorney general, I say almost said attorney general, the future surgeon general. So if behind the scenes, he was that concerned to say, hey, I just want you to know this is something that's to watch. It's possible. Why was he saying this publicly? Approximately 20,000 pregnant women have been vaccinated with no red flags, as we say. And this is being monitored by the CDC and the FDA. I don't think that's a fair statement. We do know that from journal entries and now text messages that Dr. Anthony Fauci had, did have some concerns. He did, he said there was a concern about the lab leak theory while publicly saying it was impossible. We know that's true. We know that Dr. Anthony Fauci had concerns about the efficacy of the vaccine and what they were telling the public. But he didn't want to warn anybody about potential heart problems or lung problems. He didn't want to warn anybody about anything because he thought it was a greater fear that people would say no to the vaccine. I don't think that that was his choice to make. That there isn't a medication out there that, as far as I know, that they're not required to tell you everything they know about their vaccine about their medication. side effects, possible serious side effects. And it's one of the reasons why they run through them very, very quickly at the end of a commercial. You know, after they're done dancing at the farmer's market to tell you how great their product is, at the end, they tell you what the side effects are. I don't have an ax to grind with anyone. I got the vaccine. I was not an anti-vaxxer. I danced right in the middle.

I protected my friends that were anti-vax and said they have a right to ask questions. They have a right to not put it in their body and demonizing them is the wrong thing to do. And I was right. I also got the vaccine because based on the medical information that my doctor had, the doctor I still trust with my life, literally. said he thinks the Pfizer vaccine is the best option for me. So I went and got the vaccine and the booster at State Farm Stadium in the middle of the night with everybody else lined up. So why is it now when I'm asking questions that everybody wants to know why I'm asking questions? I'm asking questions because it looks like Dr. Anthony Fauci contradicts what he said privately with what he said publicly. And he was the guy everybody trusted. He was the guy everybody listened to. And what's outrageous about this is the people in the media that listened to his words like they were gospel are the ones that should be the most outraged because you were lied to. You weren't given all the information and you were given marching orders to tell the American public they must get vaccinated. There were people that wanted, I played it before, I'm going to play it again. This is Jimmy Kimmel. Jimmy Kimmel and what he said about unvaccinated people having a heart attack. Dr. Anthony Fauci said that if hospitals get any more overcrowded, they're going to have to make some very tough choices about who gets an ICU. But that choice doesn't seem so tough to me. Vaccinated person having a heart attack? Yes, come right on him. We'll take care of you. Unvaccinated guy who gobbled horse goo. Rest in peace, wheezy. Yeah. And that was the sentiment. That we created the good and the bad. And if you weren't getting the vaccine, they don't care about you dying. He obviously said that. Have a heart attack. Go die. See you later, Weezy. But you were going to kill other people. Here it is. When asked about the vaccine, I want you to hear this. When asked about the vaccine, the CDC director. was asked about it. And she said that it is perfectly safe. But she also said that you can't get the virus or you can't spread the virus if you get the vaccine. She said it. She said it to Congress. If you get the vaccine, you can't spread the virus. And the CDC's website said differently. The CDC's website was saying that if you do, if you get the vaccine, it diminishes your ability to spread the virus, but it never said it stops you from spreading the virus. She said emphatically, it does. It stops you from getting the, or spreading the virus. So we were told by the experts one thing while they debated the others behind closed doors. Of course people had questions. They had a right to. So all of you that bought the science as gospel, you were lied to. And you demonized your fellow citizens. And I understand why you did it. If I thought, if I thought I could save somebody's life and I decided not to, I'd feel horrible about myself.

But it turns out that that might not have been the case and that there's much further digging that ought to happen. And if you're an American and you don't think that those questions should be answered, when 102 miscarriages happened out of 127 pregnancies, an 82% rate, I'm sorry. Why was Dr. Anthony Fauci saying we haven't seen any red flags? And privately, he was saying to these other doctors, we've got some red flags here. Well, don't you want to know if those red flags were valid? I do. Coming up, we're going to end the show with our story Roundup. We'll get to it here in just a moment. Asia Huckleberry. I don't know if you thought of this roller and the story you're doing now about the misdirection that the White House pulled to get the president off of Air Force One and onto something else because of a threat. Yes. I don't know who was in on it because we know the reporters had no idea. But how would you like to be the people left behind an Air Force one? I was thinking the same thing. If I'm the pilot and they say, all right, we're going to sneak him on, then we're going to sneak him off because there's a legitimate credible threat against this airplane. And you've got to fly it. Yeah. That's my ride up there. Where you going? Well, the fact that they had them keep all the shades down on the airplane. So as a reporter, you're sitting there going. Okay, is this my last field trip? Yes. They all looked around and realized that they're reporters that Trump doesn't like. And they're like, huh? Well, and he usually comes out. You know, you see all the video where he comes out like mid-flight and talks to the reporters. And they had to be asking themselves, hey, where did he go? Oh, my gosh. Look, it's only CNN and ABC on this play. I just, but I thought of that this morning. We did the story. If I was a reporter or not that, anybody on the staff that had to know what was going on, we're going to shut off our tracking systems. I don't know, man. There goes my story for the day. Yeah, there it is. All right. The luckiest golfer in the world. This one's for John Roller. I don't know. Have you seen this? This is so much better with video, which is dumb. We can't play the video, but you got to go and find it. Do you know what I'm talking about? Do any of you have any idea what I'm talking about? No, enlighten us. This guy is in Ohio and him and his buddies are out golfing.

And I'm trying to see what town, because I know you'll know, Roller, but he's taking a video because it starts to rain like crazy. Okay. And his buddies are out trying to push their golf cart or something, and he's behind a tree. And he's laughing in this video. Lightning strikes a foot and a half from where he's standing. No way. Yeah. And then the video shuts off. Apparently the guy lives. But he's videotaping his buddies, and he videotapes himself getting struck by lightning. Well, you know, Lee Trevino, very famous golfer, was hit by lightning. And it actually knocked him out of a tournament years ago. And after that, he said, I always carry a one iron. You know why? Why? God can't hit a one iron. That's nice. It was Cincinnati, Ohio. Cincinnati, Ohio. Cincinnati, Ohio. This one is dumb criminal. This is an Arizona story. Scottsdale, Arizona, a man from Phoenix robbed a shake shack. He robbed the shake shack that he worked at. Oh, that, yeah, genius. Think anybody recognized him? He robbed the store he worked at. This one I just thought was funny because it's snarky. Florida has named their developer, economic developer of the year. New York mayor, Zohran Mamdani. They are heading to the Sunshine State, are they in record numbers. So I just, I saw this and I thought that's kind of a snarky thing to do, but man, it's pretty funny. But, and back to the lightning thing, Roller, you know, I got struck by lightning. Is that, is that, is that what it's all about? That's a true story. Wow. I was, I didn't get a, obviously a direct strike would have killed me. What was football practice, you know Pop Warner football in Florida. I was, so we had a really bad thunderstorm roll in. So we all ran in the concession stand. Well, all the appliances and all the sinks and everything are stainless steel. Right. Well, everything is grounded outside of the grounding system. Right. Lightning struck outside of the. uh concession stand i was leaning against the stainless steel sink and it threw me across the room wow whoa yeah so it explains that twitch that i have well yeah did you ever get shocked when you were an electrician yeah twice bad twice bad where I was I couldn't I I was cutting some wire and I had it in my hand and it makes your muscles contract and I couldn't let go you can't let I had to jump off a ladder to pull me off scary stuff it well and because it was at my faculties I could see clear it wasn't like your I could everything was I just couldn't let go

I had to jump off a ladder. Yeah, it's a muscular reaction. You cannot let go. This one is, I'm never getting in a waymo, nothing against them. I'm just never getting in one. But it happened again this time in Miami, Florida. Did you see the video of this? Two Waymoes were in a standoff. So there was a Waymo waiting to turn right at a T intersection. And there was a Waymo coming toward him turning right down the same street. So they got face to face because the Waymo that was turning made too wide of a turn. So they sat there for almost two minutes, not knowing who should go. And eventually they worked it out. But it could have been a crash. There was another incident of one driving again into a fire scene. So I'm not. I'm no way I'm doing this. No way. Yeah, I'm with you, man. I mean, if I see something coming my way and I just see the steering wheel turning by itself, I'm going to freak out. That's for sure. All right.
