I remember, was it Monday, you guys were talking about a tornado went through Bordman? You know, well, yeah, went through part of Austin Town, Bordman, and Canfield, yes. Right, right. So I was a little oblivious, I said, a tornado. Because I live over here near Hubbard, Coitville, Youngstown area. And I knew there was a high winds, you know. And then I kind of did hear a tornado sounders go off. So today I took my mom out towards Bordman, towards the mall. And we got out there by that Brazier story, Derry Quinn on Market Tree, brother. And I'll tell you what, the first thing we came up on was all those telephone poles or, yeah, but the wires, all these electric trucks are lined up. You know, line up these poles. I said, holy macro, what don't happen out here? And then I cut down through Bortman Head toward Glenwood by the Brazier store out there. It looked like a bomb went off. I have never seen so many trees, and I'm talking big trees that were split, land of people's yards. And I'm just blown. I said, what in the world would happen? I mean, this was a wide area over there in the summer. Oh, yeah. It was just wild. It was interesting. It happened Sunday afternoon, as I spoke about yesterday. I took it head on over there at Verb Manor, and it was amazing. The rain it was coming down, the wind that was happening. And it was just amazing. And then you lost power. We were without power at our place for about 36 hours or so. So as I say to everybody, and I said it yesterday, I said it again, we have a generator that's nuts of the whole house kind, a rather large one. It's an inverter generator. So it protects your board. It's an inverter generator. that's a gas run, and so we started it up and plugged it in into the side of our house so that our sump pump would keep running. So many people in my neighborhood, this is what I find frustrating. So many people have their basement flooded and just total issues as a result of not being prepared. I mean, I mentioned it yesterday. I said it again today when I got married, my father-in-law.

It's an electrician, and she told me if you got a sump bump, which we had when we built Verb Manor, 1996, you must have a generator. He just emphasized because when does your power go out? Usually during a thunderstorm when it's raining and then your sum pump doesn't work. So consequently, I got a generator right then and there. And I told people yesterday, you can go to Harbor Freight. Sometimes they got a coupon. You can buy a hell of a generator for $1,800 or $2,000. That's a big, you want a nice size one, plenty of watts. so that you can run your refrigerator, your freezers, your sump pump, all the stuff that matters. So we started that up. We plugged it in. and did ran for 36 hours. So we didn't have to worry about a refrigerator. The food there are freezers. We didn't have to worry about the sum pump not working. And then I'm hearing from all these people, oh, man, I lost all the food and a refrigerator. Their basements has all this water in. They're just in for a ton of headaches as far as getting it fixed and as far as their insurance is concerned and all this kind of jazz because of lack of preparation. I mean, you... Right. You just got to be prepared for this kind of stuff. You should not. If you have a sump pump, you should have a generator. Period. If you don't, it's a big mistake. And hopefully you never need to use it. And like I said yesterday, if you have a generator, listen, the best kind is what Mike Craig puts in. You can have a whole house one. They're going to cost you $12,000 or whatever. But if you have one for a couple thousand and you just get an electrician to put a transfer switch in your house, it might cost you. It might cost you, what, $2,500 with the generator and a switch? Well, all you do is plug it in on the outside, and you don't have anything to worry about. Hopefully, you never have to use it. But if you do, it's there for you. One more comment, if I could. Yeah. It's interesting. Did you make the call? Do I have your voice right? Because you connected so well with so many people. Tell me if I'm right. Do you think I called me once and went to God to car for your mother-in-law or somebody? Yeah, yeah, and I came back and I said, what the? Yeah, and I said, this place looked like, it's just, it's just a dump. It's just a freaking dump around here. I mean, ICE can't tell you, folks, this guy's call has stuck with me, and I remember his call because.

So many of the roads that we have, and listen, county engineers doing a great job with the additional money he's getting on fixing more roads than we've ever had fixed. But so many of our roads around here are just deplorable as far as potholes are concerned or patching is concerned, and you're just bump, bump, bump, bump, and all this kind of stuff. So this guy told me a story. You were coming back from where do you buy this car at? I went to Apache Junction, Arizona, outside Mesa. He wanted to buy a used car that didn't have any salt damage and that kind of stuff. And he calls me, and he comes, and he's driving all the way back. And he says to me, I knew as soon as I hit my hometown. And I said to you, how did you know that? And you pick it up from there. Pick it up there from our listeners. I said, once I got outside of Akron and I got by Austin Town and 6-8 in the Youngstown, the roads. The roads were absolutely dismal. The town just, it was just overgrowth weeds. potholes. And I just said, now I understand why people come here and they kind of look around. I mean, because we, you know, when you live here, you kind of don't take it. So literally, I mean, I take care of my mom's home and everything. So it doesn't look like that and we get by. But we went, you know, I went out and I came back in. And I know the car was like, why did you bring me here? Because the roads were actually, there was absolutely destructive. So, yeah, it put me in a state of limbo. Like, I can't believe. It's like the shroud was pulled from over my eyes, Ron. That's all I can say. And now they seem to be wanting to try to clean it up as bad as they can. You know, they've been cutting shruggery and black copping like crazy. But, you know, it just took something like that going out west to come back in and see this. So it was like, the thing I remember about his call was, he said, you know, this is where I grew up, this is my home and everything like that. But once I went out to Arizona and was driving back, you know, and tell me if I get the quote right, he says, as soon as I got close to home, I realized it's a dump. Yeah. You know, I mean, I got pride. I grew up in the trafficking, funeral days, Don Hanna, and everything. And I mean, I got some pride for Youngstown. Yeah, Youngstown, to me at one time, was everything at Doorpark. But I came back and I just said, hey, there's an dump around here. Because, and it's, and then it goes to your mind is, what are these city people, these politicians doing with all the money that they're getting? It's absolutely dismal. Did you go by the park I told you about on Market Street? I think it's Market Street, Indianola. And tell folks about it. There's never anyone there at this park. It's always empty. No old people sitting there to see your citizens. No kids riding around nothing. And they must have spent $500,000 to develop this dumb park. And I thought they were going to put a senior citizen home there. So at least they could walk across the street.

To the urgent care, whatever the medical place is there. It's just the politician here are just absolutely, they're pitiful. All they're doing is wasting our money. That's all I can say. They're wasting our money. Yeah. Just don't know what they're doing, Ron. You would do a better job. I would do a better job. I'd be focusing on the road. I'd be focusing on, hey, take some of them jailbirds down there, put them on the cleanup crews, cleaning up the streets, you know, trash, all this and out. Give the police department more money to enforce the, you know, traffic laws around here and everything. I mean, you might be, I mean, I think I told you. I have a property in Coneyot. Connie ought to the depressed area, too. But you know what? They're strict with their traffic laws. They're clean, you know, clean policies up there. I tell you what, you got to give the city a county out a lot of respect. You know, they might tell you, yeah, we might be a poor town, but you would never know it because we make sure every home is taken care of, no trash and all that. So the same young town, I blame the politicians. They just don't care. And you're right. You're right. Some of the Astine spending that was done with this gift of this ARPA money that could have been used so much more wisely. And you're saying, here they put this money into this park and market and you never see anyone playing in it or doing anything. What a waste of money, which 100% correct. Don't we have a better need to spend that kind of money on? But, I mean, it was so eye-opening for this guy when he came back, when he went somewhere else. Well, many different states that he came back here, and he looked around and he said, I can't believe what I haven't been seeing until I left. And now I realize the issues that we have in this fine community. And I just thought that was a hell of a story when you told it. And any time I drive on a lousy road today. That is the flashback I have is to your call. That's why I brought that up. I can hear your voice now in my head, like about all the crappy roads. I go through Roswell, New Mexico. I stop at the little UFO museum and everything, and, you know, it's a little small, non-industrial town, and I came all the way through, and then it's, like I said, things changed. Like, I got to Columbus. It's okay, and I get to Akron, it's okay. Once I got it next 76 and crossed under 46 and hit that 680, it just went straight Twilight Zone.

And for the first time, Ron, he swashes the water and it hits me right in my eyeball, man. I'm trying to eat a parochial. I'm like, oh, you know. I said, Jesus, cruding, right in my eyeball wrong. And I told my mom, I said, well, Lisa, you know, I ain't the devil, because I didn't catch on fire anything, you know, but that was funny, man. That's a great event. I love the festival. I didn't know you were Slovak. Oh, not. But, you know what? When it comes to good food, brother, I don't turn it down. I can eat a good potato or a good parogi. I, you know, I'm an international flavor. Now, let me say this one thing, because I know you got to go to your fun fest, the little rascals, because I love when they all come on there. Listen.

They have what you call an EMP, electronic magnetic pulse weapon. Knock after electrical grid, but they can't do anything. Blind them totally leave maybe one city in operation. I guarantee you that'll bring them to the table. Send them back to the dark ages. And you know what? The buildings are still standing. They just don't have any more electronics. But I tend to disagree a little bit that it's... A dump? I think I said when he was driving back. Well, he lives here all his life, and he still lives here, and he said he just realized that it was a dump. That's all he said when he came up. He was driving back from Arizona. You can say that, you know, we do. We have your issues over here, but we're not a dump. But anyway, I thought it was... You know, kind of funny because I lived out west for quite a while, too. And when you look at, I lived in California for a little bit as a lifeguard. And then when you turn around and you come back here, then you go, you know, there is a little bit of a difference, you know, that in the environment and whatnot. But, you know, we've got a nice... City Park and Mill Creek Park is a pretty good university, pretty good people, and we do have our issues. I'm tired of flooding my tires also with the potholes, so I have to tend to agree on that end, and we have some spending issues that need to be rectified, and some deep pockets need to be taken care of. But I was wondering, I was wondering how many people went to the... the festival there in Washington, you know, during the, you know, to see the fireworks and whatnot. And I'm surprised you guys haven't brought anything up about that, you know, that. Well, I'll tell you this much. I'll bring something up. I watched it. I watched Trump's speech and I watched the fireworks. The fireworks were unbelievable. I mean, it was absolutely, absolutely unbelievable of fireworks. Just, I mean, When they said it was the biggest that you'll ever see, probably so. I mean, it was just really interesting. I found a coverage really cool. I mean, it's the United States of America, the 250th anniversary or birthday, whatever you want to say, 250 years. And I was watching it on Fox. I found it really interesting when they were interviewing people that were coming to the event from all over the country and that they showed up to. take into fireworks and take in all the activities that we're going on. City Park and Mill Creek Park is a pretty good university, pretty good people, and we do have our issues. I'm tired of flooding my tires also with the potholes, so I have to tend to agree on that end, and we have some spending issues that need to be rectified, and some deep pockets need to be taken care of. But I was wondering, I was wondering how many people went to the... the festival there in Washington, you know, during the, you know, to see the fireworks and whatnot. And I'm surprised you guys haven't brought anything up about that, you know, that. Well, I'll tell you this much. I'll bring something up. I watched it. I watched Trump's speech, and I watched the fireworks. The fireworks were unbelievable. I mean, it was absolutely, absolutely unbelievable of fireworks. Just, I mean, When they said it was the biggest that you'll ever see, probably so. I mean, it was just really interesting. I found the coverage really cool. I mean, it's the United States of America, the 250th anniversary or birthday, whatever you want to say, 250 years. And I was watching it on Fox. I found it really interesting when they were interviewing people that were coming to the event from all over the country and that they showed up to. take into fireworks and take in all the activities that we're going on. The crash happened just before 10 o'clock, as Matthew Gilmore is said to have overdosed from drugs. Both Gilmore and his passenger were given naloxone, but Gilmore later refused a blood test, and arrest warrant is active against Gilmore. I'm Lee Mauin. A suspect who tried to flee from law enforcement in Seneca County yesterday morning was fatally shot by police. Jeffrey Sargent of Bloomville was wanted on felony domestic charges when he was pulled over near Township Road 8 and State Route 67. That's what I think about watching the events. I wish there were things that just weren't political to people. I mean, it's 250 years. It's great fireworks. I just tuned in and watched the celebration. I were thoroughly enjoyed hearing them. talk about why they went to Washington, D.C., just Joe Bag of Donuts. And that's... I just remember when I, you know, years and years ago when I was younger, I remember getting in a discussion with my father. And as, you know, as a young person, I was, you know, kind of, you know, I felt that I, you know, I was trying to, you know, feel that, you know, I was, you know, questioning a lot about my country. And, and look, I was always been a very much of a positive person, but I'm going to be a blessed person to be living here. Anywhere else I, I am, every day I realize how blessed I am, and my family is lucky to be in this country and the freedoms and the liberties that I do, do have. And he told me, he said, you know, JJ, he said, you know, you never want to ever think of being anywhere else. you know, in this world, you know, you have it, we have it good here. And, you know, he taught me a lot of things, and I, I agree with him. And he was also, but he was also very, not his proud, I don't know how many times my dad probably won't, maybe in only a handful times, but he, you know, he said, well, at least you were, you know, questioning some things, and that's good. But, again, you have to realize that how lucky you are, and I totally stuck with me, but I, during that time that appeared recently with that day, you know, I don't want to get into it too many things, but, you know, those. Those guys went up on the, you know, they, you know, went up there with the masks on, and that kind of thing's kind of a little bit bothered me because that's not the representation of what our country's about. And quite frankly, you know, the fireworks were nice and the attempt to have the all 50 states being recognized with their little boost and stuff like that, which it was nice because you get to see what every state can contribute to the union here. So there was a lot of good, a lot of good things. I quite frankly thought that the president's address was very divisive, and in the sense that, you know, once again, it was, you know, if he, you know, like Nick said that one time that he, you know, I keep listening to that day that he had called in, I can remember the actual day, but he called in and was saying that, you know, that we're supposed to support the president, and people like me are supposed to support the president in the country, yet, you know, he never supported Biden in his. agenda, which I don't expect him to do so, but to career request people like me to fall in line is quite humorous. But nonetheless, I just felt that he was, again, being that we're the problem, the Democrats, the Democrats, he says, with the B, that we're the ones that are, you know, causing the problems and whatnot. And again, that's, you know, that's coming from a person who just, as I said, that's what he feels, then that's fine. But I, you know, I, the more thing.

That's never going to end, and I'll tell you why. It's because all the agreements and deals that he's speaking of, which I'm so every time I hear the word Gil, it's like nails on a chalkboard. But, you know, they're never going to pull into place, and I'll tell you why it's because Israel will never allow it to happen. And we always blame that to the Iran people, Iran, they bombed Israel, which they have done. And they've fallen quite short of their... their fulfillment toward the treaty. But every time that happens when we're getting close to it, they wind up going ahead and Bobbin Lebanon, and then there's, that's one of the general issues that deal for it to fall apart is for them to do that. So it, until Israel... falls in line too, and they fulfill their obligation by not trying to click genocide that, and that's a true statement, that we're not going to get anywhere. And quite frankly, even if we do get a deal, the deal is not going to be as good as the one, and everybody can argue the point with me, it's not going to be as good as the one that Obama had in place. Now, and again, you know, the weeks ago, before you were saying that, you know, that you felt that there was an issue going on with the war and that... I thought the bunker busser did this and did that. And, you know, quite frankly, I think that it's, you know, it's really until the Israelis make their sacrifice and stop doing that, because all they're going to do is continue to agitate the situation. And, you know, and I just find it, you know, it's going to continue to go on. And as far as the other thing, too, is bombing. Iran, do you know that, and I know you're aware, this is your smart man, that one time Iran was a Democratic... country. And until we decided that we didn't, they didn't, we didn't like them to have all that oil, so we had stole the Shah. And then the Shaw became a, he was a horrible, horrible individual. And then what it did is it just bred animosity court our country. So I'm not sitting on my country, but we should be expecting more of ourselves. And when we go and we do this, and there's innocent people over there too. And, you know, to go out through their, you know, to the government, that's one thing, and their military, that's another thing, but to want to take away their ability to put lights on or feed their people or other people have water, it's quite disconcerning. And, you know, I'm trying to be as level-headed and as even killed as I possibly can, and it makes you very, very difficult. Because, again, I think it's now 40 times he said about a deal. And quite frankly, he could tell me tomorrow is Thursday, and I'm not going to believe him until I look on the calendar. And I just find that, you know, just really was not a, you know, and there was $120 million that was allocated toward that, that our nation's birth. And if that was $120 million worth of putting toward some type of party, it was, I want to know where that money went. And, you know, quite frankly, again, I'm going to end with this. Everybody complains about, you know, people making money, Obama and everybody else making money. And, you know, right now it's, I see it hand over fist money going places that.

You know, quite frankly, and, you know, I'd rather go to USAD than to the people lining their pockets, the rich people. And I, again, you know, I really like you, Ron, and I can shoot you a friend. But, you know, again, I know you've been disappointed in me before, but I'm quite disappointed. You know, again, you know, I want to continue with your questions of Trump in his position, but also stand by him, what you were doing. And I admired that. But when you get people again, public interested it again the other day talking about how the Muslims don't have to fulfill their obligations like that. That's a lie. And it really just, again, it's putting the perspective on the people that are Muslim. That is not right, and it's not correct. If you want to be, you don't like them for a certain reason, that's fine. But they get the truth. And I just, as I said, it was a divisive thing. I felt very, very, not an American. And as I said, it's... You know, and I apologize just briefly about my, me hanging up on you the other day, but, you know, Ted could have made his point with my son one time, but he continued with it. And that, quite frankly, as I said, and, you know, I hope that they released that man. Because if you guys think about it, you know, imagine if a white man when my kid went into that tent, and there was a bunch of black people in there. You know that these tents are 6-1, 200 pounds, and he was 5'10, 150 pounds? We went in there, and then you're being pushed, and you're being told to get it. Why was it a problem for him being in that, anyway? It was thunder and lightning out there. I just really don't understand that he stabbed him one time, and you guys want him to do the rest of his life in prison? Yeah, he killed him. Yes, I do. No, he killed him, but the thing is he said, that's that my kid. And he was part responsible for his own demise. No, he wasn't. There would have been a one kid if you'd get that. He didn't belong there. Had he simply done, once again, this is what drives me up a freaking wall. had he simply listened to what he was told hey you don't belong here this is your group of students and he would have simply got up and left as he was asked to do

instead of starting to get in a confront you know confrontational thing of not listening and then the one kid says hey you got to go and pushes them well does that warrant the other that kid pulling out a knife and stabbing the kid in the heart and killing him yes or no it's okay so that's why so that's why he that's why he was convicted of murder he murdered the kid he murdered the kid Pure and simple. There was no black jury. There was nobody on the black jury. I don't care. I don't care. Do you think black people would say, oh, it's okay to stab them in the chest? I got a video this morning telling me I had won this crazy prize that I entered maybe 10 years ago. and they said I would receive $98,000, $312,000 would pay my federal tax. But to pay my state tax, I had to send $850. Now, I was a bookkeeper for many, many, many years. I mean, you're not stupid, right? You didn't fall for this. No, I didn't fall for it, but I tried to call Chase Bank and tell them that they wanted me to go in and open a new account at Chase Bank and send this woman money, $850. And he asked me, and I mean, I know I was on video, and I'm in a T-shirt, my hair is done. When I go out, people think I'm in my 70s. I'm almost 90. And it just made me so angry. And they said, now, when you go down to the bank, you get this check mail for your state tax to this woman. It gave me account number and routing number. And it just made my blood boil. For one thing, I hadn't entered this. It was publishers clear in house. I haven't made an entered. to entry to them for probably eight or ten years. And then they say, now, don't tell anybody. You tell them that this woman you're sending the money to is a friend. But I'll pause for just a second. I mean, this kind of stuff really gets to me because in many cases, they prey on older people like you, and they're successful at it because they just do stupid things. I mean, you haven't entered Publishers Clearinghouse. I got one of these myself. I think it was a text message or something on it. And, I mean, this is just... It's so obvious that these are just scam. Whatever. But to see what I look like. My hair is white. My hair is very nice. When I dress up, people think I'm in myself. Great. And I tried to call Chase Bank because they told me I had to go to Chase Bank and open a new account because that's where the check, you know, that's where my check had to be cashed and all this.

And I just, I know you're very popular and I know you're popular with some elderly people. And I'm just hoping that nobody falls for it. And it was supposed to be $850 for state tax. Now is a bookkeeper for over 60 years. So I know out of a million dollars, the state is going to get a lot more than $850. I know. They think you're old and stupid. And unfortunately, we see locally, if you follow the news, some old people are old and stupid and fall for this stuff. I hate to say it. Well, they're not stupid. They just don't understand. And they want to do everything by email or video or something. They just want to cheat old people. No, let me back up on it. Let me go back to my original statement. They want to cheat stupid people. For example, they try to cheat these guys like, oh, some lonely guy, if you send me some money, I'm going to come and visit you. You know, I live in wherever rush or whatever. All of a sudden he finds some horny young woman that thinks he's the one for them. And she's going to come over here and be with him. If he'll just send her $5,000. to make the trip over. How many stupid guys fall for this stuff? Let me just tell you. How many stupid guys to this day you know when you go online and you're hitting on some of these... girls that are there that you're not talking to a girl, you're talking to some undercover cop, you're an adult man and you think you're talking to some 15 or 16 year old girl that's interested in having sex with some 55 year old guy with a pot belly, and you're trying to arrange a meeting with this girl and hooking up. And if you aren't cognizance that, first of all, that that's a bad idea to begin with. If you don't have enough standards to say that's stupid, to begin with. But number two, if you haven't seen over the years, and I mean years, that those are usually the cops, and when you get there, you're going to get arrested, then you truly are stupid, and you truly are an idiot. You don't have any morals, and you're stupid that you would fall for something like that. If you think a publisher's clearinghouse, and you say, gee, I didn't enter publishers clearinghouse, this sounds like a load of crap, but you follow through with it anyway. It's an act of stupidity. Elena Higgins, who runs the prosecutor's office Ohio Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, says the men thought they were communicating online with a child in their younger teens for sex, having sexually explicit online conversations. When they arrived at the house where they were to meet. The 25 men were arrested. I mean, we continue, not we, these people that are in charge continue to operate as so this debt and deficit means nothing, and it continues to grow at an astronomical number. I mean, when they brought them on stage and honored them, when you saw these original flags, This is during Trump's speech. I don't know how you didn't sit there as an American, and you weren't proud of those veterans that were on that stage and that history that was on that stage. And then, as you said, the military band and the military singers that did such a great job during the fireworks presentation. I think that's a lot of what is absent from our country today. I mean, if we had a war, somebody attacked us, what young kid is going to sign up and go fight for this country today? You know, like back in the day, one of my father-in-laws, I had a couple of them, but he signed up at 16 years old and lied about it just so we could go fight, you know? in World War. So, yeah, I mean, today these kids and their attitude towards the government, it's very disappointing. Is it? I thought they said military recruitment was way up. Why do these two gentlemen run for office when they don't want to serve us? They serve out part of their term, and then they're looking for other jobs. Elena Higgins, who runs the prosecutor's office Ohio Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, says the men thought they were communicating online with a child in their younger teens for sex, having sexually explicit online conversations. When they arrived at the house where they were to meet. The 25 men were arrested. Latest on the case of 16 kids found living in alleged horrible conditions in Vinton County, the kid's grandfather, Gary Sider, senior, out of jail now on a personal reconnaissance bond, and the kid's parents and grandmother remain behind bars after waiving their right to preliminary hearings. I know everything, everything. Okay, then tell me how I go down Mahoning Am, or a meridian, no, I went down Route 46, heading towards Niles, gas prices at sheets 355, Ohio, 379. Pilot 377, you get the nows, and you go to the get-go, and it's 302. Not once, but many times I've ended up going to the now's get-go to get gas, almost 60 to 70s cheaper. How does Trumbull do that? Well, you're asking an excellent question. It's just like often when I leave here and I see the Shell Station at the corner of 224 and South Avenue, it'll be like today, I think it was at 325, I think. I think it's at 325. And the reason why that one is so much cheaper than all the rest of them is because right up the road from that Shell Station is Sam's Club. And so they're competing with Sam's Club that has those low gas prices that you see people lined up for at Sam's Club, which is in the low threes. And I have heard this before on these varying gas prices and how it's cheaper in some areas than other areas. It doesn't make a lick of sense, particularly when it's the same brand gas up here that you're getting down there, right? chain station you're right i mean you're right couple weeks ago i was at uh what was the raccoon and 224 at the get go there yeah and i was getting ready and it was 324 and uh i said okay well i'll go get the cans but i'll go to get go at austin town austin town was 365 40 cents more for the same station. It's like Austin Town. We're paying, we are paying the most out of any area. Yeah, you've got to be cognizant of it. I mean, you can get it less at Sam's Club, and if you're probably a station around Sam's Club, it's less than that. You're saying when you go to Niles, you find it even cheaper when you go down there. Yeah. And I don't know. I thought maybe you might have a contact with any of these people lying or anybody. What seems to be the difference? There you have it. I can't tell you. I thought I knew everything, but you found something that I can't tell you why that oddity is taking place. Stay tuned. the biggest scam are gone. So therefore, all that gasoline and all that, it's a scam. But we're not going to get into that today because I want to talk about some other things. I, yes, I survived the storm, no big problems over where I'm at, and I hope you didn't get any trees on your home or anything like that. I did not get any trees on my home, but we were without power for like 36 hours, and we took the storm on, the winds, the rain, the tornado, and luckily everything was a-okay. And as I say, with the generator and the sump pump was running, so we didn't have to worry about a flooded basement or anything going bad in a refrigerator. So we had no power for, I don't know, 16, 17 hours, something like that. Does he have a sump pump? No, no, but he had a neighbor that helped him out with his refrigeration and all that stuff. Yeah, because, I mean, you've got to get a generator, I mean, gas start one or whatever because you don't want your freezer or your refrigerator going bad. Every time that you talk about retiring and going and going and hanging it up, you seem to add one million. One more year to that. You started out like six months ago. It was 38 years. Now, about three, four months later, it's 41 years. Right. I've been here 41. I just wanted to get a chronological upbeat. Tell me how many years it really? It's 41 on this radio station. 41 years. Yep. Is that right? Yes, it is. That's a long time. So do the math. Let's figure that out. It would be, uh, Jesus, uh, yeah, it means, it means when I started, I was 27 years old here. 27 years old. Yeah. And you had a four hours. show that entire time? Oh, yes, absolutely, that entire time. I used to be on 7 to 11 at night for many, many, many years, 7 to 11 at night, and then it's a switch to 3 to 7 in the afternoon. And I've always done a four-hour broadcast. And I always wanted to do a three-hour broadcast. There you are. But it never seemed to work out. But in some recent discussions where we entered some discussions, and I just expressed that I would prefer to do just three to six than three to seven. So it's just a little less of a grind. Let's put it that way. putting in seven, eight hours with the other job? Oh, absolutely. And I put in a ton here. You know what I mean? It's, hey, if you like, you know, if you enjoy what you do, then, then, then you're, then you're, then you're honestly a blessed man. I mean, you know, I, I, I, I, I, I love that and I, I've loved this. Make no, how many years have you been doing that? The other job.

Pretty much as long as I've done this one. Maybe longer. Really? Maybe longer, yeah. Oh. I mean, a long, long time. Let's put it that way. Never met a job I didn't like, you know. I mean, it's, I always, I never belly ached much about working. But, you know, as I've said to you, time goes by in a blink of an eye, doesn't it? I mean, I can't believe how quickly life goes by? It goes very quickly. Yes, it does. After the age of booze. 5560 look out the next 20 go that's gone and I think you're right you know I have older brothers my brother Paul is 10 years older so he would be 78 and I have another brother Brian and he would be let me think here you'd be 71 And I can't believe my brothers are that age. They're all healthy. You know, they live in Florida, but they're all healthy, and that's all it matters. Maybe they're going to, maybe they'll convince you to come down to the sunshine state. Well, they always tell me, they always, they always, they always, they love to Sanis. They always tell me, hey, if you live. What is the Santa's got to do it? Just the property taxes and just how they run estate. But they always say the same thing. The sunshine and the atmosphere, you live longer. I mean, they've told me that for years. You just live a lot longer with sunshine. There's a lot of truth in that, of course, of course. Yeah, you know, so. And by the, you know. Have you convinced the boss that that's what could be in the future? I don't think there's any need to convince her. Let me put it that way. I don't think I have to convince her of anything as far as that's concerned. bags already up in the attic ready to go. Yeah. Yeah, no, she'd be the first one that would tell you that's sunny weather makes a big difference in her world. Let's put it that way. All the little ones out, don't you? Just the two of you? Isn't that it? Well, you know, I mean, why, you want to move in? I don't know. I mean, I think it would make it a lot easier if everybody was, you know, out of the house, just the two of you and you could do it without any problem. Here's a strange thing. I don't, I like Ohio. I mean, the strange thing is, I like Ohio. I like the changing of the seasons. I don't, I don't dislike this area. You know, when people say, I think this is actually a wonderful community, very affordable place to live. for the most part, property taxes are getting out of hand. But I think in general, it's a wonderful community. And I don't, and I enjoy the Ohio weather. I enjoy springtime. I enjoy summer and I enjoy fall. I get it, same here. But, you know, that every day 65, 75, 80 degrees would be most welcome at this time, don't you think? Probably so. Yes.

I love the, I love the, you've been working outside all this time, and I love the change, the leaves, and the colors, and all that, too, and so. You know, that's your decision. But you know, the thing is, here's what you learn when I spent a lot of time outside over all the years. And you might remember when I was young, there wasn't much talk about sunblock or sunscreen and that kind of stuff. So consequently, you know, I go to the dermatologist every six months to make sure, you know, all those years are getting... sunburned and all that kind of stuff can catch up to you, you know, and sometimes you've got to have some of that stuff cut off of you so it doesn't get worse. Well, after all, I mean, during all those years, I hope that you at least... had long sleeves and hats and all that. You were well aware of that 40 years ago. Well, the answer to that would be no. I would always know. The answer is no. And I've gotten all these lectures from these dermatology people that say, oh, you've got to make sure you wear your hat and all this kind of stuff. I mean, luckily I haven't had any major skin cancer problems or anything like that. So. So I'm blessed with that. But as I got older, I learned my lesson. You know, I learned, I started listening to them. Let's put it that way. But, hey. When you get older, you do start to listen a little more, don't you? Yes. Why is that? Yes, you do. You know, they would always say, well, you know, the stuff usually pops up as you get older. It's kind of festers and it pops up then. And so. The sun is great, but you got to be careful that you don't burn yourself too much. There's that old saying that youth is always wasted on the young. Yeah. And that's true. So you didn't see, I mean, you realize that there's. things that you should have done. Anyway, we won't get into that. But I think I think... You're all because you seem to... Year on, every time you say, oh, I've been here 38, then 39. No, no, no, no. You said 39 about six months ago. No, it's... It really is 41, huh? It really is 41, yes. Wow. And keep in mind, I was doing this in Akron Canton before I came here. Before you were... 27 when you started here, so you started up there, what, right after college? Even before that, I'll tell you the story.

My older brother, as I mentioned, who's 10 years older, he was in broadcasting. He was in the radio industry. And I was just a little kid at the time. And I would go with him when he would go to his radio station. If I spin way back, people wouldn't even remember this, the people that were there. But I go way back. And I would go with him as a young kid. I would be... what, 12, 13 years old or maybe even younger. Well, maybe even younger than that. And I would go up with him and he would teach me things. You know, I mean, he is the reason I got into broadcasting. He would show me stuff and teach me stuff as a little kid. And then the company was owned by the Susquehanna Broadcasting Company. I'll always remember that, the And then they hired me at 14 years old is when they hired me in Akron to run the control board when these, you know, when some great legends are really in Akron radio, big names at the time. At 14. They hired you at 14. I was the youngest employee ever hired. But I already knew what to do and everything like that. So my mother and father would drive me from our home in Medina up to Fairlawn and drop me off and pick me up. And I would run the control board for when they would be doing live broadcasts like from furniture stores and that kind of stuff. It was a music station at the time. And I did that for several years and loved everything about it. It was absolutely wonderful. And all of those guys treated me tremendously. I mean, all of the, all of the, they're well-known disc jockeys. They were all excellent guys. And they, and they would teach me things and they treated me tremendously. I mean, it was a great. young experience as a young lad to have. Let me put it that way. And then I was on the air as I started out as a disc jockey playing records and literally records on the weekends. And I worked every weekend, every holiday, because I was a young kid. And then they changed the format. Then they changed the format of the station to a talk format. And They hired a guy from Youngstown, a guy named Nick Anthony. They hired him. It's a talk show host of BBW at the time with Dan Ryan, and he was a program director, and Nick Anthony came, and the general manager was Alan Saunders, and Nick Anthony said, basically, I'll teach you how to do talk radio. And I said, okay, that's cool. So then I was probably... 17 or 18 years old, maybe in that ballpark when I started having a talk show at Akron. And Nick Anthony schooled me in how to do talk radio. And I listened to what he said. And I stayed there a number of years and did that. Then I went to WHBC in Canton. I left WHLO and I went to WHBC in Canton. And I worked there.

And you might have heard like a week or two ago. I came to Youngstown because Carolyn Pursutie, who I worked with in Canton, came to Youngstown. And because of her, and Pete Gabriel was putting a format together on this station. He had hired Dan Ryan away from WBBW, and he needed another talk show host. And Carolyn Pursuti says, I know a guy. And Pete Gabriel said, well, we're going to start this talk format. And so he hired... hired me away from the Canton radio station to come up here and to start here with Dan Ryan. And that's how that all came about. That's how that whole scenario came about. And so if it wasn't for... You had a gift of dad from that early age. If it wasn't for my older brother... I don't know that I would ever ended up in broadcasting if it wasn't for him. If it wasn't for Alan Saunders, the station manager at W.H.O. at the time had no problem with hiring a 14-year-old kid. And if it wasn't for Todd T. Taylor and Johnny Andrews and Carl Day and Steve Bannon and Nick Anthony and all those guys that mentored me. and help me along the way. And then if it wasn't for Rick Jacobs, who hired me at W.HBC and Mike Dorn, and if it wasn't for them, you know, I'm going to tell you, I'm going to tell you an interesting scenario if you stay tuned. But in some recent discussions where we entered some discussions, and I just expressed that I would prefer to do just three to six than three to seven. So it's just a little less of a grind, let's put it that way.

with the other job oh absolutely and i and i put in a ton here you know what i mean it's hey if you let you know if you enjoy what you do then then then then you're then you're honestly a blessed man i mean you know i i i i love that and i i've loved this make no how many years have you been doing that the other job um about pretty much as long as i've done this one maybe longer maybe longer yeah I mean, a long, long time. Let's put it that way. Never met a job I didn't like, you know. I mean, it's, I always, I never belly ached much about working. But, you know, as I've said to you, time goes by in a blink of an eye, doesn't it? I mean, I can't believe how quickly life goes by. It goes very quickly. Yes, it does. After the age of 55, 60, look at the next 20 go. And I think you're right. You know, I have older brothers. My brother Paul is 10 years older, so he would be 78. And I have another brother, Brian, and he would be, let me think here, he'd be 71. And I can't believe my brothers are that age. They're all healthy. You know, they live in Florida, but they're all healthy, and that's all it matters. You know, I would be. Maybe they're going to, maybe they'll convince you to come down to the sunshine, the sunshine state. Well, they always tell me, they always, they always, they always, they love Ron DeSantis. They always tell me, hey, if you live. What is Descentia? Just the property taxes and just how they run estate. But they always say the same thing. The sunshine and the atmosphere, you live longer. I mean, they've told me that for years. You just, you just live a lot longer with sunshine. There's a lot of truth in that, of course, of course. Yeah, you know, so. And by the, you know. Have you convinced the boss that that's what could be in the future? I don't think there's any need to convince her. Let me put it that way. I don't think I have to convince her of anything as far as that's concerned. She's probably got those bags already up in the attic ready to go. Yeah. No, she'd be the first one that would tell you that's sunny weather makes a big difference in her world. Let's put it that way. All the little ones out, don't you? Just. Isn't that it? Well, you know, I mean, why, you want to move in? No, no, no. I mean, I think it would make it a lot easier if everybody was, you know, out of the house, just the two of you and you could do it with that any problem. Here's a strange thing. I don't, I like Ohio. I mean, the strange thing is, I like Ohio. I like the changing of the seasons. I don't, I don't dislike this area. You know, when people say, I think this is actually a wonderful community, very affordable place to live for the most part. Property taxes are getting out of hand. But I think in general it's a wonderful community. And I don't, and I enjoy the Ohio weather. I enjoy springtime. I enjoy summer and I enjoy fall. I get it. Same here. But, you know, that every day 65, 75, 80 degrees would be.

Most welcome at this time, don't you think? Probably so. Yes. I love the, I love the, you've been working outside all this time, and I love the change and the leaves and the colors and all that too. You know, that's your decision. But, you know, the thing is, here's what you learn when I spent a lot of time outside over all the years. And you might remember when I was young, there wasn't much talk about sunblock or sunscreen and that kind of stuff. So consequently, you know, I go to the dermatologist every six months to make sure, you know, all those years are getting sunburned and... and all that kind of stuff can catch up to you. You know, and sometimes you've got to have some of that stuff cut off of you so it doesn't get worse. Well, I hope, well, after all, I mean, during all those years, had long sleeves and hats and all that. You were well aware of that 40 years ago. Well, the answer to that would be no. I would always know. The answer is no. And I've gotten all these lectures from these dermatology people that say, oh, you've got to make sure you wear your hat and all this kind of stuff. I mean, luckily I haven't had any major skin cancer problems or anything like that. So. So I'm blessed with that. But as I got older, I learned my lesson. You know, I learned, I started listening to them. Let's put it that way. But, hey. When you get older, you do start to listen a little more, don't you? Yes. Why is that? Yes, you do. They would always say, well, you know, the stuff usually pops up as you get older. It's kind of festers and it pops up then. And so. Sun is great, but you got to be careful that you don't burn yourself too much. There's that old saying that youth is always wasted on the young. Yeah. And that's true. See, I mean... should have done anyway we won't get into that point but i think i think because you seem to get it a year on every time you say oh i've been here 38 then 39 no no no you said 39 about six months ago no it's 41 it's it really is 41 yes it's and keep in my and keep in mind i was doing this in acron canton before i came here before uh you were 27

Even before that, I'll tell you the story. My older brother, as I mentioned, who's 10 years older, he was in broadcasting. He was in the radio industry, and I was just a little kid at the time, and I would go with him when he would go to his radio station. If I spin way back, people wouldn't even remember this, the people that were there. But I go way back, and I would go with him as a young kid. I would be... what, 12, 13 years old or maybe even younger? Or the late 60? Well, maybe even younger than that. And I would go up with him and he would teach me things. You know, I mean, he is the reason I got into broadcasting. He would show me stuff and teach me stuff as a little kid. And then the company was owned by the Susquehanna Broadcasting Company. I'll always remember that, the Susquehanna Broadcasting Company. And then they hired me at 14 years old. is when they hired me in Akron to run the control board when these, you know, when some great legends are really in Akron radio, big names at the time. I was the youngest employee ever hired. But I already knew what to do and everything like that. So my mother and father would drive me from our home in Medina up to Fairlawn and drop me off and pick me up. And I would run the control board for when they would be doing live broadcasts like from furniture stores and that kind of stuff. It was a music station at the time. And I did that for several years and loved everything about it. It was absolutely wonderful. And all of those guys treated me tremendously. I mean, all of their well-known disc jockeys, they were all excellent guys. And they would teach me things and they treated me tremendously. I mean, it was a great... young experience as a young lad to have let me put it that way and then and then they then i was on the air as i started out as a disc jockey uh playing records and uh and literally records on the weekends and i worked every weekend every holiday because i was a young kid and uh then they changed the format then they changed the format of the station to a talk format and uh

They hired a guy from Youngstown, a guy named Nick Anthony. They hired him. It's a talk show host of BBW at the time with Dan Ryan, and he was a program director, and Nick Anthony came, and the general manager was Alan Saunders, and Nick Anthony said, basically, I'll teach you how to do talk radio. And I said, okay, that's cool. So then I was probably... 17 or 18 years old, maybe in that ballpark when I started having a talk show at Akron. And Nick Anthony schooled me in how to do talk radio. And I listened to what he said. And I stayed there a number of years and did that. Then I went to WHBC in Canton. I left WHLO and I went to WHBC in Canton. And I worked there. And you might have heard like a week or two ago, I came to Youngstown because Carolyn Pursudi, who I worked with in Canton, came to Youngstown. And because of her, and Pete Gabriel was putting a format together on this station. He had hired Dan Ryan away from WBBW, and he needed another talk show host. And Carolyn Pursuti says, I know a guy. And Pete Gabriel said, well, we're going to start this talk format. And so he hired... hired me away from the Canton radio station to come up here and start here with Dan Ryan. And that's how that all came about. That's how that whole scenario came about. So if it wasn't for... You had a gift of dad from that early age. If it wasn't for my older brother... I don't know that I would ever ended up in broadcasting if it wasn't for him. If it wasn't for Alan Saunders, the station manager at the time, had no problem with hiring a 14-year-old kid. And if it wasn't for Todd T. Taylor and Johnny Andrews and Carl Day and Steve Bannon and Nick Anthony and all those guys that mentored me. uh and uh and help me along the way and then if it wasn't for uh rick jacobs who hired me at at w hbc and uh if it wasn't for them you know i'm going to tell you i'm going to tell you an interesting scenario if you stay tuned hang on a minute fifth avenue i'll tell you something interesting in a minute

In this edition of the marketers report, Scott Meen. Are you Youngstown's News, Weather, and Talk Station, 570, WKBN. All right, Fifth Avenue, are you there? Yeah, when you took over when you were a young kid at 14 or 17, was it, were you, was it politically flavored like you do? Most of yours is political. Yes. When you were younger, was it a lot of political? What kind of talk show did you run when you were younger? Political. It's always really been political for the most part. Really? Okay. Yep. You know what I mean? And they used to say to me at the time, because as a young man, he used to say, hey. You sound pretty good for a young guy, so don't give out your age, right? Because I was so young. And now they're saying the same thing to me. Hey, you sound pretty good for an old guy, so don't give out your age. But here's the hitch. I mean, you know, when I look back on this kind of stuff. So I was doing a talk show in Akron when I was very young. Like I said, it wasn't for my brother. If it wasn't for Alan Saunders, if it wasn't for those guys that I mentioned that gave me a great childhood, and if it wasn't for Nick Anthony teaching me about talk radio and all of that kind of stuff, I don't know that I'd be here today. And if it wasn't for Rick Jacobs hiring me in Canton and Mike Dorn. And Paul Gilmore, who was the general manager at the time, I don't know that I would be here today. But here's the rub. When I was in Canton, so much revolves around girls for some reason. When I was in Canton, I decided at one point that I was going to leave broadcasting. And I applied at United Airlines, not to be a pilot. You know, I applied for a job at United Airlines. I remember I went up to Rocky River. to be interviewed and i went up there and these guys interviewed me in rocky river and they offered me a job right there on the spot you know they says uh which i thought i was kind of shocked you know so they said we're prepared to offer you make you an offer right now for this job and it was a good job and good pay and all that kind of stuff and uh i says really and uh so i accepted it And then when I came back to the station and I told them that I accepted this job, they said, you know, they thought I was pretty good at what I was doing in broadcasting. And they said, we'll kind of hold a spot for you for a period of time. And you go see if you like it. And if you don't like it, then come on back. And so I went up. They must have seen something there that they really liked. So I went up there and I did that job for a while. And I said, I don't know if this is for me. It didn't seem like it was exciting as broadcasting. So I left that and, you know, part on good terms and went back to broadcasting. And that's how I ultimately ended up here because Carolyn. How long do you stay with you?

Carolyn Pursudi came here and she paved the way for me to come here. So women have always done an important thing. You know, there's many people I thank for what they've done in my life to make it, make magic happen. You should always thank those people. You know, I always would thank Pete Gabriel, God rest of soul, because, you know, he hired me and took a chance on me as a great man. You know? All right. Are you done? I think I lost it. All right. The president also met with Ukraine's president Volodymyr Zelensky and Turkey along the NATO sidelines about the war in Russia, making a commitment, he says, to help Ukraine make patriot air defense missiles, something Ukraine's leader has been requesting. Immigrant rights groups are demanding an independent investigation after Tuesday's fatal shooting. of a Mexican national in Houston. Ice agents are calling the shooting of Lorenzo Salgado Aroujo. Self-defense. Here's ABC's John Kenyonis. Ice claims the man was evading arrest and that his car ran into another ice vehicle. Aroujo's family, though, says he was simply on his way to work. He was a construction worker. He was on his way to pick up some workers. And that he had spent decades in this country pursuing the American dream. for his three sons. President Trump, though, still hoping the courts will step in to prevent him from having to pay $5 million in damages to a woman who claims he sexually abused her decades ago and then later defamed her. ABC Stephen Portnoy has the latest. A federal jury in 2023 found the president liable for sexually abusing writer E. Jean Carroll and defaming her. Last week, the nation's highest court declined to hear Trump's appeal in the case, and a federal judge has now ordered a $5 million award plus interest to be released to Carol. But Trump has filed another appeal, challenging that. In Texas, a bizarre situation in Harris County involving a child who was inside a home and apparently injured... by lightning. It's always been kind of understood that if you're inside of your home, you're safe from lightning because a home is grounded, but an investigation is underway after a child was injured in his family's home in Harris County, Texas. The home, deputies say, was hit by lightning and an electrical current went surging through the home's wiring and electrocuted the homeowner's son who was using a computer inside the home. They say the child was evaluated by EMS. His condition is not known. Alex Stone, ABC News. A 70-year-old California man recovering after being found alive six days after going missing in the wilderness.
