Day formed deliberations begin later this morning in the case of three ex-prison guards accused of meeting area inmate Robert Brooks to death in prison. Jurors asked several questions Friday about each of the three defendants. David Kingsley, Matthew Gallowher, and Nicholas Kiefer are all accused of murder and manslaughter. On both Thursday and Friday, jurors asked more about how each of those crimes is defined. They also saw a replay of body camera footage of officers inside the Marcy Correctional Infirmary beating Brooks, but at the end of the day, they weren't close enough to a

verdict, so on Idaho County Judge Robert Bauer sent them home to return later this morning. Dave Debo, News Radio, WAM 1180. No one did in the name of the man killed in a motorcycle crash in Rochester's Maplewood neighborhood. Police of the 23-year-old was riding on Ridgeway Avenue Saturday night when he passed a vehicle, stopped at a light and hid a delivery van. He was rushed to the hospital where he later died, the crash still under investigation. A Rochester man critically injured after a car hit his bicycle just northeast of downtown. Police say the man rode in front of a car at SIO and Woodward Street shortly after 7 o'clock last night as he was trying to get onto the sidewalk. He was rushed to Strong Hospital and the driver has not been charged. Anthony Panazowitz, News Radio, Wham 1180. Meantime, an elderly man in critical but stable condition after he was hit by a car in Rochester's east side. Police said the man in his 70s was walking in the roadway at Merchants Road in Burwick Avenue around 2 o'clock. this morning when the northbound vehicle struck him. The driver is cooperating with police and has not been charged. Investigators say rainy conditions contributed to that accident. A confirmed finding of human remains in Wayne County. Troopers say the property owner discovered bones on Wednesday. On Champlain Road in SOTUS, investigators were able to find more bones during an excavation since then. The remains have been turned over to the medical examiner's office to be identified. Bud Lowell, News Radio, Wham 1180. Elsewhere, French police are investigating a brazen jewel heist at the Louvre Museum. David Chazan, the France correspondent for the Times of London, says the search is now on for those responsible. 60 police investigators are now trying to track down the thieves who made their getaway on two very powerful motor scooters. It's believed the thieves used a mechanical lift mounted on a truck to get entry through an upstairs window yesterday morning. French interior minister Laurentineau says two or three thieves were able to open two display cases in a gallery that held Francis Crown Jules and they got away with several pieces. And it's been a tough start to the week for many who have been frustrated by some popular websites that are experiencing technical issues this morning. Those issues started overnight with Amazon Web Services, the cloud computing company that provides the online infrastructure for a number of sites and services. According to Down Detector, users of Snapchat, Amazon Prime, Hulu, Alexa, Roblox, Venmo, and many others were all hit with tech problems this morning. News Radio Whamble, the meantime is now 805. Good morning, Americans. Hello, my friend. This phenomenon outdoors currently impeding your vision as you drive to work is called rain. It used to be fashionable around here, but we kind of took the summer off. Here's a deal. If you are a lazy, slob, bum like myself, this is good. A day like this, this is the first time my car has been washed since late June, right? No, this is good. This is very, and also, I guess, the grass and the wells and the lakes and the rivers and all that bullcrap stuff that like meteorologists believe in. I have found in life that our friends in the government do nasty, stinky stuff typically at close of business on Friday.

And so it was that at close the business on Friday, our man, Don Trump up in Washington, D.C., he announced the commutation on social media, of course, of George Santos. George Santos, formerly a member of the House of Representatives, briefly a member of the House of Representatives. who was, by the way, kicked out of the House of Representatives by a vote of his peers. I think the first such action taken since the Civil War against a member of the House. He, in April, was sentenced to 87 months in prison, a sentence which came about upon his conviction, pleading guilty to charges of wire fraud. and aggravated identity theft, and the 87 months in prison came about after a sentencing recommendation from the Justice Department of the current administration, President Trump. In April, when the sentence was imposed, The Trump Justice Department issued a lengthy press release that went through the various offenses and crimes of George Santos, detailed what he'd done, and described him in pretty despicable terms. He went to jail in July, and he had served 84 days of the 87 months that he was supposed to serve. Now, wire fraud and aggravated identity theft. What did he do? We know that he lied like a big dog. He was not, however, specifically imprisoned for that. Among the lies, he told, he said that his mother was killed in 9-11. She wasn't. He said that his grandparents were killed in the Holocaust. They weren't. He said that he had great educational achievements. He did not. He said that he had been wildly successful in business. He had not been. He said all sorts of things, dealing with fundamental aspects of who he was. What is your nationality? By which I meant heritage? What is your faith? What is your sexual orientation? And he seems to have given divergent answers to all of those questions. He's a big lion dog. But you don't go to prison for being a big lion dog. And what he did was he ripped people off. He, in my view, most egregiously, people made political contributions to him. Okay? He was a candidate, got to Republican nod. You know, some people support Republican candidates. Okay. So they donated money, as people will. Some of these folks, he went out and solicited their donations. They were elderly people, and some of them were in a state of mental, you know, they were a little bit demented, if you will. Well.

What George Santos did was he took, after you donated to him, he still had your credit card number, your debit card number, he still had your little code off the back of the card, and he saved those, and he subsequently used them without your permission, i.e. stole money from you. In the aggregate, something in excess of $1 million. Right? And then, just, you know, insult to injury, there was a guy whose dog needed surgery or the dog was going to die. So George Santos said, I will help you. I will lead a GoFundMe, which will collect money. And GoFundMe was set up. George Santos, the name on it, donate money to get surgery and save this guy's dog. Well, people donated lots of money. George Santos took it and you got it. The money did not go to the man. The money did not pay for surgery. The dog did not get the surgery. And the dog did die. And George Santos kept the money. This notion that he was a political prisoner, that he got a sentence longer than other people is just simply false. Cornell University. If you take, they've got online a list of federal offenses and what the sentencing range is. One count of the aggravated identity theft to which he pled could have gotten him as much as 10 years in prison. He had multiple counts, plus he had the wire fraud, and he got 87 months, about seven years. This man was a victim of absolutely nothing. And he got turned loose, which I will never make any sense in my life. I won't live long enough to comprehend this. Time for trafficking weather on the tens on news radio Wham 1180.

And, you know, a lot of it pulls the horse, pulls the cart in the right direction, some other not so much. But this release of George Santos Friday night was deeply, deeply disappointing. Two things in the present social media post that had me scratching my head. One is he said that George Santos had to be released because he is being treated so unfairly in prison that the prison warden or whatever else like that was being very harsh on him. Well, George Santos was in prison for federal crimes. He was within the Federal Bureau of Prisons, which is overseen by the Trump administration. The Trump administration was able to... like that, get some very comfortable conditions for this Chislane Maxwell woman. Why could not, if George Santos was being unfairly targeted in prison, why could not the Federal Bureau of Prisons similarly taken care of him, right? Also, the president cited in capital letters in his explanation for why he was turning him loose and why he deserved to be turned loose. He listed the fact that George Santos in the House Representatives had voted every time the Republican side of bills. And, you know, with respect... That's swell, no doubt, but how you vote in the House of Representatives or anywhere else in life has no bearing whatsoever on whether or not you have criminal responsibility. And to insinuate that being a faithful Republican voter ought to allow you to be relieved of criminal penalties is not the way our system works, right?

And George Santos, I think, you know, I realize it was four or five, six months ago beyond the realm of memory. But George Santos was a sad illustration of just how venal and morally bankrupt American politicians can become. And to wave off criminal money, this man stole in excess of a million dollars largely from elderly people. Right? By using their credit card numbers without their permission. So he stole that and he spends 84 days in jail and he walks free. And there's no way that that makes sense. 222180's number. I think it's going to be a great day. This is news radio. Wham 1180. It was a week or two ago we first mentioned this issue out at the airport of, I guess, in the management at the airport, they've taken a burn to the deputies out there. I think there's a part-time Monroe County Sheriff's deputies who are at the airport. And I think that one of the bosses at the airport doesn't like cops or whatever else like that. So there's been a pushback to use the deputies less. And they have brought in a private security company from New York City, which put up a recruitment center on Lyell Avenue. And, you know, when we brought this up, the county of Monroe said nothing's changed. Everything's just like it was. And that's all bull crap. You know, we saw the video.

of the fight between a guard and somebody who was stopping to pick up a passenger. It turns out there's more to that video. I'm trying to figure out who you have to freedom of information law request to get that video. Also, just on social media, I think taking pictures of the security guards at the airport has become something of a sport. There's one photograph where a guy is sitting there and he's leaning back in a chair. He's sound asleep, right? He's a pretty good size, heavy set man, and he's got his hand down the front of his pants, right? Just lay in there, sound asleep in a chair at the airport, and that's, you know, the airport's security force there. And then there's another one, and this is unfair to say, but there's another picture that's popped around. And it shows a gentleman in, he's got the security shirt on, and he seems to be wearing one of those scarfs on his head that you see at the pro-Palestine anti-Israel demonstrations. And, you know, anybody can believe and wear whatever they want, of course, but you got to understand that that does up the pucker factor and, you know, denying that is being dishonest. And I'm, you know, these may well be wonderful, fine folks, but I would like to know in as much as they have a responsibility for some aspects of safety and security in the function of the airport. I think that it would be useful for Monroe County to explain, one, why it chose to use private security as opposed to just sheriff's deputies. And I say just sheriff's deputies. Many of the people who are at the airport are retired deputies or something like that. All of them are certified police officers. Most of them have decades of experience. They all are trained three ways from Sunday. They're the very best you can get in terms of badge wearing folks. And we've sort of pushed back against that to bring in people, you know, one, why is it that you've decided to use private security, Adam Bello? Two, what is the training of these individuals, right? And, oh, the New York State certified, well, tell us what that means. And tell us how that applies to the security situation at the airport. Also, what are the rules for their conduct? If we have the man sleeping with his hand down his pants, I mean, what was, do they, was he on, do they take their break there in the lounge or what is that? Are they allowed to sleep on duty? And the guy who, you know, gets in the fisticuffs thing with the other fellow, what became of that? And if, when I get the other video, if it shows him striking the person who come to pick up the passenger, is that then a chargeable offense? And did he get ridden up? I wonder, the airport is a gem. And keeping it that way is important. And, you know, when you go to the airport, you want things to be quick and smooth, and you want them to be safe.

It seems to have, probably from the standpoint of Democrat organizers, been very successful and gone very well. I'm not sure if there are reliable estimates, but realistically, they may have had two or three million people around the country in total who participated. I haven't seen accounts of violence or vandalism, mostly in towns across America, including several in our region. People just stood alongside the road holding up signs or flags or whatever like that. And people exercised freedom of speech and peaceful assembly. And, you know, folks who felt that way were out there with them. And the rest of us who maybe didn't share their view or didn't feel like playing politics on Saturday, we just went about our business. And it was another day. And I think that that's an illustration, you know, whether you agree with the no kings people or not, that's a reminder of who we are. I mean, we are told that we are deeply divided and certainly, you know, we are stepping on each other's toes. There's no doubt about that. But that there's some kind of calamitous schism or fissure in our society from which we can never recover. I think that's bull crap. I am not in agreement with most of what the No Kings people were saying. And yet, hey, they're Americans doing their thing, pursuing their happiness. And I think that it's important to remind ourselves that we are all partners in freedom. And while you may use yours differently than I choose to use mine and vice versa, we nonetheless are partners in freedom. And we each have a shared interest in supporting each other's freedom. Now, at the No Kings, A lot of it was the traditional, you know, mantra of the Democrats, gay and trans rights, abortion, and what's the third one? Remember, oh, illegal aliens should be able to stay here. Those messages came through a lot. But I think that organizers were focused less on those, you know, traditional Democrat priorities and more on the autocratic governing style of Donald Trump.

And, you know, in that, you know, there may have been something that Republicans might want to listen to a little bit. Think about this when you have a few minutes sometimes. Sometimes our critics and our opponents, even our enemies, can be useful to us if we are humble enough and honest enough to listen to what they say and give it serious consideration. Now, I think mostly our critics and our opponents are full of crap, right? But sometimes at the core of their full of crapness, there might be a particle of truth, an observation or something. When our critics criticize us, you know, our tendency, my tendency, is to say, ah, screw you. You don't know what you're talking about. But, you know, you think about it for a couple days and you go, well, maybe there's a little bit of truth in that. And if from that little bit of truth, you could learn something that you're humble and smart enough to use to make yourself better than good. But if you're too proud or I'm not going to listen to them and you don't end up making yourself better, then missed opportunity. And here's the thing. Donald Trump is not going to become different, I don't think. But this accusation that he sometimes acts, or acts rather, in an imperial fashion, like he's the end all and be all, you know, there may be a kernel of truth in that. And maybe if you are up there, chief of staff at the White House or something like that, you might think about that and say, well, maybe we should try to present ourselves a little bit differently. That might be taking criticism and using it as an opportunity to learn. And, you know, you and I aren't going to be President of the United States. I mean, especially you. But, you know, we are going to live life and we are going to have critics. And that same principle applies.

Right? Sometimes our critics are able to see us in a way that we can't see ourselves. I'm not saying always, not by any means. Sometimes our critics are just full of crap and they're saying jerky stuff because they're jerks. But you should, you know, think about it and weigh it out and then be honest enough to say, no, they don't have a point or, you know what, maybe they do have a point and maybe I could modify myself and improve myself just a little bit. And, you know, there's that. But one thing I would point out to Republicans is that this is a very large event. It was very well organized, which demonstrates a capability on the part of the Democratic Party and its fellow travelers, if you will, to organize large events and mobilize large numbers of people. And while Saturday was not democracy, it was freedom. It wasn't democracy. Democracy takes place at the ballot box. If they can organize that many people, get them out, they know everybody's names and phone numbers. And next year, as it comes into midterm election time, as they're looking for donors or volunteers and ultimately voters at get out the vote time, the ability they had to put on all those demonstrations probably indicates that they'll have a pretty good ability to... put together the campaigns and the efforts and necessary to improve their chances of electoral victory. So, you know, to the Republican Party nationally, you probably, they should be thinking, well, hold it, we're going to have to up our game. Because right now, I think the Republican Party is sort of in this interesting world where we think that Trump is God, and as long as we have Trump's approval, we're okay, and that's all we need. But maybe, you know, that may not always be correct. And so if the Democrats are ramping up and improving their ability to motivate their folks to come out and stand up for what they believe, the Republicans may want to try to do similar things. and try to ramp up their ability to be well organized next year as well. I said, I'm sorry that he dashed my hopes about becoming president. But anyway, the reason I called was this. Those events had to cost George... How many people out there. Now, I know that there were many folks that were there that honestly believed in why they were there and what they were doing. But I'm a certain a great number of those. A certain number of those were paid to be there. Yeah. He's asserting, it's a real poor connection. He's asserting that the protesters were paid. Is that what happened down? Was it like at 12 corners and at Bill Gates and Brighton, Geneseo, Livonia, Henrietta? Was that it? They're all paid. So they gather up homeless people. Here's the deal. As unlikely as it seems, it is possible that there are people who disagree with you and me. I can't imagine how that could be, but I think it's possible. You know what I'm saying? And maybe those people got together. And yes, I think there was George Soros money in the organization of the whole deal. But I think that probably handled like, you know, emails and such. I don't know. I suspect that the people who showed up. on our streets did so because they believe that stuff. And, you know, that's cool. We have that diversity of viewpoint. And, you know, that's why we have elections every year or so to see where collectively we together stand. And, you know, they've had their deal here. and said, this is where we stand. But I would remind everybody that about a year ago, we actually asked the American people what they wanted to do. And in their collective votes, Donald Trump was elected president. Collectively, the Republicans were selected to retain control of the House of Representatives. collectively Republicans were selected to retain control of the United States Senate. And that's fine. And next November, we'll ask America again. And there'll be a collective decision about the Senate and the House then. And we'll see what the country thinks at, at that point. I'm not, yeah, I'm not that bothered that people have viewpoints different from mine. And here's the thing I want to point out. Attendance was far greater than I thought it would be around here. And it seems to dump a bunch of sewage on top of these no king's demonstrators. That's one thing I don't like, because the deal is that... he's the president of everybody and everybody's his constituent. And whether you're president, governor, mayor, dog catcher, whatever else, you have a responsibility to, I think, respect and try to serve all your constituents, including the ones who didn't vote for you. And maybe you've almost gotten an obligation to go out of your way to show, you know, cordiality to people who didn't vote for you.
