Amazon Web Services, a major provider of cloud hosting that underpins much of the web and everyday online tools went offline due to a problem with one of its core database products around 3 a.m. today. Officials say the goal is to make streets safer and reduce crashes at some of the city's busiest intersections. All locations identified through a safety study analyzing crash data and red light violations. The city officials say that every new location was chosen based on that crash data and will be clearly marked before enforcement begins. The final vote on the ordinance takes place later today at Orleans. City Hall. If approved, installation of the new cameras could begin early next year, starting with intersections that see the highest number of red light crashes. We had some scattered downpours yesterday, but with that front that moved by, we are drying things out today. Temperatures climbing back to around 83. We're going to be even warmer tomorrow Tuesday back at 88 to near 90. And Wednesday also relatively warm. This front came in from the more of a Pacific origin. So it brought some rain, but no. cold air, so that's why we're not going to be cool for long today. Heading it to the end of the week, though, another reinforcing front comes soon, and it'll drop us back down to the lower 80s, otherwise a great stretch of weather this week. From severe weather center nine, I'm chief meteorologist, Tom Terry. And of course, that was our extended forecast brought to you by Universal Roof and Contracting, taking a look around the listening area this morning. We're into those upper 60s. I see 66 out by UCF, though. I've got 67 up in Sanford and 67 right here at WDBO Orlando's Severe Weather Station. Ed Torrance with those traffic updates. We've got a red alert. What's the latest, Ed? This time around, it's on the 528 again, but on the westbound side and innovation way you've got a left lane blocked. You're looking at a few miles worth of delays there, so do allow for extra time. Still going to find delays on the eastbound side due to an earlier crash approaching State Road 520. All lanes are open there. You've got vehicles on the right shoulder, but still need to allow for extra time because of those delays on the eastbound side approaching 520. This traffic report is brought to you by Universal Roof and Contracting. Want to make sure your roof is ready for the rainy season with a free inspection. Hey, good morning, and thanks for joining us here on Orlando's morning news. I'm Greg Rhodes, sitting in the big chair for Scott Innes this morning on 107.3 FM and AM 580, Orlando's news and talk. I feel like we just had a conversation about these protests, but the second round of the No King's protest happening over the weekend around the country and quite a few right here in central Florida, downtown Orlando, not excluded. And Steve John Roberts joins us this morning, ABC News Political Analyst. And Steve, there's been a lot of talk about these no King's protests and President Trump's reaction to them. But not all the polls and kind of the independent surveys of these have the same opinion as the president on the people actively protesting. Well, that's true. Look, Donald Trump, let's be clear here, Greg. Donald Trump has been extremely successful during the first eight or nine months of his presidency, at dominating the news, at using presidential powers in extraordinary ways, intimidating not only Democrats, but Republicans in Congress. He has been King of the Hill.
But under the surface, there has been a growing restlessness. Democrats were traumatized, even paralyzed for months. They're starting to find their voice. And the polls are showing that. You know, Donald Trump talks about having won a landslide, but that's not true. It was one of the closest elections in history. He's run three times for president, and he's never won. a majority of the popular vote. He's come close, but he's never won a majority of the popular vote. And right now, if you look at the best average of national polling, his popularity is only as 44%. But his handling of the economy, people are only 39% in support and handling inflation down to 33%. Folks in Orlando know that for all the promises Donald Trump made, prices are not down. And they never were going to come down. But they thought they would, and they thought he was promising that. And so what you're seeing now is the gathering of opposition, people who were paralyzed for eight, nine months, are now starting to find their voices. And that's what you saw in the streets of central Florida and all over the country over the weekend. Do we have any estimates as to how many people actually participated in these protests over the weekend, Steve? It's fair question, but crowd sizes are so difficult to estimate. You know, and it certainly was in the hundreds of thousands. And... It was much bigger than the No King's rallies earlier this year. But that's a reflection of the polls. That's a reflection of the fact that, you know, Donald Trump's very powerful and effective use of White House powers are now causing a reaction. And Greg, in politics for every action, there's always a reaction. And it's the very power of Trump. It's the very dominance of Trump. It's the very arrogance of Trump. that is causing this reaction because he is such a powerful force. The reaction is gathering steam. And he looks and he makes no pretense to be president of the whole country. He, you know, he talks about fighting the enemy within. He talks about hating his enemies. You know, he is president of Red America and he's proud of it. He's not president of the whole country and never has claimed to be. Now, in kind of reference to that, over the weekend, the president's sharing an AI-created video of him flying a jet fighter that was dumping liquids on top of protesters around the country in the ideas that, again, the president openly not...
in support of these protests saying that they are anti-American, that they hate America in these protests. What's been the reaction on the Republican side to these types of videos? This isn't the first time that the president has shared these types of AI videos. What's been a reaction from Republicans of these types of videos and conversations that the president has started? Look, I think Republicans think it's funny, and Republicans are cheering him on. I don't think there's any doubt that he has been very effective at using the most advanced media techniques, and Democrats have been very slow to understand the power of the new media ecosystem, and Republicans have had an enormous advantage in tapping into those systems. But what you saw over the weekend was Democrats starting to understand. how you have to counteract that. And so, you know, there were people in dancing. There were people in frog suits. They were, for Republicans to say this was a hate America rally, they loved the fact when you get protesters in a place like Portland wearing, you know, black masks and throwing rocks, that can sum up and demonaut the enemy. But the folks in the streets of Orlando or anywhere else this weekend, How do you call them the enemy when they're dancing around in Mickey Mouse and Frog suits? And so what you saw, I think, was Trump using AI and using memes and using modern media to, he's been very effective at doing this for months. The Democrats are starting to understand how to fight back. And there's one Republican said, over the weekend you know this was not a crowd of purple-haired people throwing rocks at the president and it was very hard to say this was a hate america rally given the whole street carnival vibe that was there in central florida and all over the country Steve, thanks so much for your analysis on this. The King's rallies over the weekend. That was Steve John Roberts, ABC News Political Analyst joining us this morning to discuss those rallies and protests that happened all over the country over the weekend, including right here in Central Florida, multiple locations, including downtown Orlando to land up the coast, up into Daytona during Biktoberfest. They had some. It's a very wide-ranging central Florida protest that was going on. That all seemed to be connected through this 50-51 movement that has been a part. of the organization of these here over the last year and we'll continue monitoring as I'm sure that they have plans for continued protests here. before too long. It's now 814 here at WDBO. Let's go ahead and check in on our weather and traffic we've got for you here every six minutes. A cool front moving through the area early this morning helping drop temperatures ever so slightly. We've got some of that drier air moving in as well. So comfortable through the day today with partly cloudy skies. Just a limited chance for an isolated shower, keeping that rain chance at around 10%. Datum highs and the low to mid 80s. Orlando today getting to 84 degrees and overnight, mostly clear with a low of 60s.
From Channel 9, eyewitness news, I'm meteorologist Cassandra Crummy. And Cassandra, looking around the listening area, we are in those mid to upper 60s right now. I've got 67 up into Barry. I'm seeing 70 down in Hunter's Creek. I've got 68 now here at WDBO, Orlando's Severe Weather Station. Ed Torrance with those traffic updates. Red Alert on the 528 again this morning. What's the latest? Yeah, it's westbound and innovation way. You got rescue crews on the scene now. All westbound lanes are blocked. Traffic is getting by on the right shoulder, but those delays continue to grow. So it may want to consider taking State Road 50. Heading westbound as your alternate. Still going to find those delays on the eastbound side as well, but they are starting to thin out nicely. As you approach State Road 520, due to an earlier crash that's got vehicles on the right shoulder. Also got a crash on I for eastbound. Approaching Maitland Boulevard, the right center lane is blocked there. And delays from that now extend all the way back to Fairbanks. If you have a transponder, take the express lanes as your alternate. Renewal by Anderson Windows and Doors. Is it time for new energy-efficient windows indoors? The three big things you need to know. Powered by Hard Rock Bed. Three. A child injured after a shooting in Seminole County. It happened yesterday afternoon at an apartment complex in Castleberry. Castleberry police saying that an eight-year-old boy was shot in the leg. There's no word yet on what led to that shooting, but the CPD says that it was not an accident or a case of domestic violence. No arrest. has been announced. Two. Amazon saying that its cloud computing service has recovered from a major outage that disrupted online activity around the world on Monday. Amazon Web Services provides more remote computer services to many governments, universities, and companies around 6 a.m. this morning, the company saying that it had identified the root cause of that issue. One. And it is our top story this morning as the FBI now leading the investigation into the discovery of a hunting stand near the Air Force Landing or rather the Air Force One Landing Zone down at Palm Beach International Airport. A spokesperson for the U.S. Secret Service confirming agents made that discovery last week. No individuals were found at the location, but officials noting that teams identified items of interest. Thanks for listening to Orlando's morning news. On WDBO. The NTSB now investigating after United Airlines flight from Denver to L.A. was forced to divert.
