To me, it was kind of an obvious case. I actually sent an email to our attorney general, Phil Weiser this morning, saying, I kind of felt a little bad for you having to defend a law that was so obviously illegal, so obviously unconstitutional, that even Sonia Sotomayor voted against the state, although Ketanji Brown Jackson, who, as I mentioned yesterday, is not very good at this law thing, voted in favor of the state, but she was the only one. Anyway, it's a pretty. big case. And we'll talk about more a little bit later, but Gina mentioned in a newscast that the state is looking at what they might do next. What might they do next that wouldn't involve trampling the Constitution yet again, although they don't seem to think very much about that. Another image appeared to show Byronome posing with large fake breasts in a tight, light blue t-shirt while making a kissy face. Kristi Noem said something like we are blindsided by all this. And my thought was maybe this explains why Kristi Noem had a boyfriend, Corey Lewandowski, even if she didn't know about her husband, this specific weirdness of her husband, maybe there was some other weirdness going on. And the other thing that occurred to me in all this is what if this is a hoax? Like what if this is not true? What if it's AI generated? At this point, it seems more likely true than not. But can you imagine how much this guy's life? I mean, the guy's life is kind of ruined if it is true, but at least it would be ruined for something that's true. What if it's fake and his life is ruined because of some kind of weird, twisted attack on something? But I don't know. But if you thought it was fake, don't you think that Kristi Noem's statement wouldn't have been like, We want privacy at this time. Don't you think she would instantly deny everything? That's why I think is probably real. It's just so weird. Was it for like Halloween or a dress-up party or something or just random Wednesday in April? It seems like a random Wednesday. And TMZ, which has been following around a lot of politicians. reports is reporting that, quote, Christy's camp responded to the story by saying that she's devastated and blindsided. My only goal was to stop them from getting a nuclear weapon, and we've done that. He's going to say, I didn't have a goal of regime change, but we've really done that anyway. Now, his argument is going to be, since it's different people running the government and it counts as regime change, I don't think of that as regime change as long as you still have an Islamo-fascist, Islamic Republic, Islamic Revolution, government still being supported by.

I do think that it is unfortunately, tactically sensible for Iran to keep attacking and keep talking aggressively through all of this because it maximizes their leverage during any kind of eventual ceasefire or peace settlement to demonstrate that they still have some offensive capabilities. So I think that that's going to keep going more or less until the last moment or until the last moment before some kind of agreement takes place that doesn't necessarily have to be the final agreement, but there could be an interim thing saying, all right, we feel like we're close enough to some sort of agreement that we are going to stop hostilities for now. So that's what I think will happen tonight, but you can watch it yourself at 7 p.m. and see what? see what he says. So we shared with you yesterday this story about The theft of 413,793 Kit Kat bars. You know, I put up little trees around my apartment at 12 foot ceilings so he can just like swing around from there to, you know, my cat's not a huge fan of him right now, but they're starting to, they're starting to kind of. There's also a photo that I've seen going around of a girl who's actually taking a hammer to Pete the bunny and whacking at it. It probably sits, you know, between her shoulder to the top of her head. I mean, Pete is massive. Yeah, okay. 10 pound, $140. Easter bunny. And Costco says that 10 pounds of smooth, rich chocolate turns centerpiece, basket showstopper, and eggstagram sensation. Eggstagram. So it looks like it's listed anywhere from 112 bucks to 140 bucks. And it's made of both milk, white, and dark chocolate. So you don't really have to make a choice. You got all parts of it with Pete the Bunny. And the box recommends that you quote, Wrap peat in a towel and give one bold whack with a mallet, hammer, or rolling pin. Or slice him apart with a serrated bread knife that's been heated up. That's clever. A hot knife. Yeah. So he's like a chocolate bunny pinata, right? Wrap him up, give him a big whack. Gina has been mentioning this throughout the morning. And Gina, first of all, Did you say Donald Trump is going to the Supreme Court? That was what is expected. Wow. Yes. And did you say no president has done that before? Wow. That would really be something. There have been former presidents who have gone in different capacities. I think there's two, but not a current sitting president to appear. But that was what we've been hearing as of late. Yeah.

But, I mean, there's outside the Supreme Court. Yeah, you can see the press pool of people out there expecting it. This is an issue that a lot of people seem to care about. And by the way, today is not when we're getting a decision. Today is the day of oral arguments. Gina explained this already. The court is going to hear the oral arguments today and the actual decision probably won't come down for two or three months. But in any case, I'll just elaborate on what Gina said already. But this is about an executive order put out by the president a while back that effectively orders the government to not confer citizenship on children of. illegal aliens. And he says that the 14th Amendment, which says all persons born or naturalized in the United States and subject to the jurisdiction thereof are citizens of the United States. He's saying that the clause there and subject to the jurisdiction there of does not apply to illegal aliens and therefore their children are not citizens. Now, let's just be clear about not everybody. born in the United States is automatically a citizen of the United States, but almost everybody, okay? So who is not a citizen of the United States even despite having been born here? The children of foreign diplomats who are temporarily in the United States, right? Let's say an ambassador and his wife come over from the Czech Republic and the wife is pregnant and have the baby here. That baby is not an American citizen. Children born to enemies, and I don't know that you would often have women here, but if you imagined a situation where there was a foreign enemy occupation of some part of the United States or all of the United States, and one of those women had a baby here, that person, that baby would not be a citizen of the United States. And also, And also, you know, folks who are part of a tribal nation, a Native American tribal nation, not necessarily citizens of the United States. There have been a few court cases about this. The most famous one is something like 150 years ago called Wong Kim Ark. This has been interpreted consistently as meaning that essentially anybody other than those categories that I just named, If you're born here, you're a citizen. Some folks have argued, and I will say, I don't think it's a crazy argument. that if you are an illegal alien, you are in some sense, not subject to the jurisdiction of the United States of America, because you're here illegally. Maybe we don't know you're here. Maybe if you got in trouble, you would leave, right? Maybe your allegiance is somewhere else. And so again, it's not a crazy thing.

to suggest that illegal aliens are not under the jurisdiction of the United States. But I thought Phil Weiser made an interesting point about this. When I had him on my previous show, gosh, this is probably a year ago or so when it was clear that this was going to the court. And he said, look, the difference between. a foreign diplomat and an illegal alien, if you're thinking about it in terms of subject to the jurisdiction of the United States, is that I, meaning the state, Phil Weiser, prosecutors and so on, cannot prosecute. a foreign diplomat who has diplomatic immunity. So they are clearly not under my jurisdiction. Such a person could commit a crime and I can't charge them. But if an illegal alien commits a crime, I can charge them. And I can imprison them if convicted and so on. And therefore, by that measure, that person is under the jurisdiction of the United States. So I think that Trump loses this case. It's just a question of will it be nine nothing? I could on the extremes, on the absolute extremes, potentially imagine Samuel Alito. and or Thomas going along with Trump on this. I think the best case for Trump is getting two yes votes. And I think more likely is one and most likely is zero. Again, it's not to say that I think the argument is ridiculous. But I just don't think there's a basis for it in our tradition. And our current Supreme Court cares a lot about our historical tradition. I will also say that my policy preference would be that children of illegal aliens not be citizens of the United States. I don't like, and I don't know if this happens as much as it used to, but I don't like. People coming across the border, having a kid here, and then the kid is entitled to government benefits, and maybe the parent is entitled to government benefits because a pregnant woman crossed the border and gave birth here. And not just across the southern border, but there's a whole birth tourism thing, especially from China, where these groups would buy a hotel, usually in Los Angeles. They would buy a hotel, and it would just become this big sort of birthing ward. And these women would come across from China, have their babies in this hotel.

tell that's been converted. and get American birth certificates for their kids. And then take the kids back to China and raise the kid in China. But the kid can get an American passport, come to the U.S. and get whatever an American citizen gets, maybe even get some kind of job that usually would require American citizenship, maybe be working as a Chinese spy. I don't want to sound paranoid, but you get the idea. So I really wish that there could be a way where children of illegal aliens weren't citizens. could not become a citizen through birth tourism, come over, have a kid and leave right away. But that doesn't seem to be what the Constitution says. And I do think that President Trump is going to lose this by a wide margin despite. what he might think is some kind of implicit threat or pressure by showing up at the super. So, right, we've been trying out different folks broadcasting in Rockies. preseason with Jack and the official announcement as to who got the job will be at 10.30 today. I am not, I got to say, I. I think it's an April Fool's joke. The rumors going around of it being Dave Logan. I don't, I just don't see that even though, I'm sure you know this dragon. What does Polly Market say? I mean, is it Logan, Lewis, or Mark Johnson, Alan Roche? I mean, it could, yeah, I mean, Gina tried out for the job. I don't know if you were aware of that. It's supposed to be a little hush, but since you're, you know, telling secrets about me, maybe it'll be Gina. But I just, you know, Logan. Logan can do anything in sports. Logan was drafted by the NBA, the NFL, and major league baseball. And only a couple people have ever done that. I think it was just him and Dave Winfield. There are other people that were drafted into three sports, but I don't think it was those three leagues. So Gina sent me this story. Alamo Draft House Sloan's Lake employees. announce strike. So, Gina, first, can you give us more detail? And the other thing that I really kind of interested in, is it only that location of Alamo? Right now, it's only that location, which I thought was interesting, because it is still communications, workers of America, local 777. So it is still a union in that Sloan's Lake location. So I don't know if other Alamo draft house in our area. also have that union tied to them. I'm not sure. But right now from what we've seen, it's just the employees at the Sloan's Lake location. What are they mad about? Well, the plot thickens because I think we talked about this a couple months ago about Alamo Draft House changing. their system of how you order food and drink at the movie theater. So Alamo Draft House, if you've never been, is a unique experience because it's not just like sitting down having popcorn and pop and enjoying a movie. You can actually have a full meal. You can have, you know, alcohol. You can enjoy like an entire sit down experience at the movie theaters. And then they change to a QR code system.

So. And you and I talked about this when they announced it. And yeah. So at first, Elmo Draft House, how you ordered was you had a paper and pencil. You had a menu. You would write down what you want from their menu. Yep. You'd put up a little flag or sometimes a little light. And then the server would come around discreet, not even ask anything. They could just pick up your piece of paper, see what you wanted to order. And then. Put it in and then bring it back out to you. So now we're even hearing from Elmo Draft House employees who are not happy with this new QR code system. So think about like a restaurant nowadays that doesn't have a paper menu. You scan a QR code. You look up their menu on your phone. You plug in what you want. You order it. And then the server just brings it to you. There's generally no interaction whatsoever. That's what Elmo Draft House was hoping for. But now you're talking. phones in the movie theater. Right. And they said, oh, we're going to have this brightness thing. So when you open the QR code, your phone will be, you know, not as bright and stuff like that. But people are still saying it's as distracting as can be. You're trying to watch a movie. You should not have your phone out and you should not be talking when you have a movie playing. So now this. Like I said, communications workers of America local four sevens will begin an unfair labor practice strike on Friday at the Sloan's Lake location of Alamo Draft House. Following the rollout of this QR system, they said that workers think that the QR codes are leading to confusion, frustration, longtime moviegoers are not happy with it anymore. They say that they won't come back. And of course, the biggest question is the possibility of staff reductions because you have. Fewer people that need to grab the tickets, go run the order, come back. You're just doing everything on your phone. The kitchen gets it and then you just need someone to run the food. The other thing that occurs to me a little bit from the, and I've never been in the food business, I think you said you worked in a restaurant at some point. And I don't know if this is really a thing, but it occurs to me. Like, if you are really doing an order and maybe you're talking with the person, the employee, although you don't tend to talk with them very much, versus just doing a QR code, I wonder if in your mind it would almost be the difference between. eating at a restaurant and ordering takeout in the sense that when I order takeout, I tip very little or not at all. Whereas at a meeting a restaurant, I tip. And so I wonder if for that worker, even if they're serving the same food, I wonder if the person there at the theater will be in a different mindset and tip less. I didn't even think about the tipping idea. Because yeah, you have the interaction, even though it's paper and pencil back. When Alamo Draft House did it that way, you still have someone that's picking up your order and then coming back and checking up on you. They do a quiet thumbs up walking through the aisles, making sure everybody's good and that. But now with the QR system, not only...

Is it confusing and frustrating to moviegoers when everyone has their phones out ordering food? But you're right. And the idea of you have less interaction with the actual servers at Alamo Draft House. Maybe you get the bill at the end. Maybe you pay you the bill on your phone. I don't know. I haven't been since they changed to the QR code system. Maybe you have zero interaction except with a single person that runs your food, runs your drink. And then... You just don't tip. Yeah, or not much, and then they can't make a living anymore. It sounds like a lot of people are supporting the Sloan's Lake locations strike. I saw a lot of comments of people saying they're just as frustrated with the QR code system, and they'd like to see more Alamo draft house locations do the same. This starts on Friday, and we'll see if anything really comes of it. But yeah, right now it's only one location as far as I've read. I don't know if really much else is going to come out of it. It'll be really interesting to see whether the outcry from the workers, if it's matched by customers to a certain degree, whether it causes Alamo Draft House to change their policy a little bit or go all the way back or something. But I think that you and I, Gina, have thought from the beginning of this that that policy change had the potential to be a real problem. I just don't understand how you go from a no talking, no texting policy to now pull out your phone. Now it's mandatory to use your phone. Don't worry. We'll make sure your phone is dim. The governor of Florida signed a bill that renamed the Palm Beach Florida airport where Moralago is, Trump's other, Trump's main property these days, but renamed that to the Donald J. Trump airport. And recently we learned that for, I think, the first time ever, and certainly the first time in a very, very long time. They're looking to have Donald Trump's signature on American paper money. Now, usually for many years, for my entire life, the signatures have been the secretary of the treasury and the U.S. treasurer. Those are two different jobs. But if you look at your money, you'll see those two signatures. They are talking about now putting Trump's. signature on there and secretary of the treasury scott besent is running around trying to justify it and i think it's moronic there was just a poll on this 48% of american adults asked this question strongly disapprove 11% somewhat disapprove 11% somewhat approve and 12% strongly disapprove so the somewhats are even at 11%. The strongly disapprove is four times as many as strongly approve. Who would strongly approve of this guy putting his signature on our money when that has not been done? Again, I don't know if it's, I don't know if it's never been done, but it definitely hasn't been done during my lifetime. And I do think that's a little frustrating. We will see if he actually does it. Now, um, Dragon, as long as you're outing me on my upcoming minor surgery, you know, I promised that I wasn't going to talk about this on the air, but you started it. What the bleep? I know. Now, here's the thing. I think the headline is a little deceiving. I don't want to say it's deceiving in the way of dogs are not getting sickened by hot dogs that have drugs in them. But. It does seem like it's an isolated incident. So sometimes I get a little concern when I talk about stories like this because people always say, well, are you going to have more bad actors? But this has been a story that has been ongoing for several months now. So Broomfield police are now asking for help after a series of incidents where they have found hot dogs laced with drugs. In a neighborhood. This is along West 6th Avenue near Highway 287. And there's now been three times this lady has found hot dogs in her yard. Back in November, late December, and the most recent just happening like a week ago. And then what? The dogs are acting funny? Yeah. So you hear about like the... you know, blades in candy on Halloween and things like that. Which isn't even really a thing. People say that can't be true or whatever. Yeah. Well, this is one where her dog was acting unusual, checked out her dog by the vet, and her dog tested positive for meth. Okay, which would probably lead to police to go search the owner's house to see if the owner had drugs. Right. Yeah, actually, that's a good point, right? So they did find the hot dog and had that tested. And that was also what tested positive for meth. There was also, they said ecstasy and meth. Oh, my gosh. So they're now asking anybody with information to contact Broomfield police. They do believe because, I mean, they spend three times with the same lady and a couple dogs. Wow. Is she being targeted? Is somebody angry about the dogs in her neighborhood or whatever? It's really sad story. The dog is fine now. Yeah. But just keep this in mind because sure, it sounds like it's a case that is an isolated incident, but it's just something to keep a... be aware of at any point because people are bad people. Yeah. And part of the reason this is interesting is that China has a lot of business connections with Pakistan. I'm sorry, with Iran. China has a lot of business connections with Iran. They buy a lot of Iranian oil. They do a fair bit of trading there. So China has some significant. influence over Iran. And if China is involved in in a suggested framework for a ceasefire or peace plan is probably going to get a little bit of attention with whoever is running Iran right now. And and also it's it's fairly likely that Pakistan would even be talking about this out loud and talking about working with China on this if President Trump hadn't sort of given them a wink and nod, yeah, go ahead and work this thing with China. So it could potentially also be Trump trying to build tighter relationships with China. So this is what's going on right now. We will see it. Theoretically, it's a five-point piece plan, and I'm not going to go through all the points, but I will just say it's something that does appear to me to be a framework that could actually work out. I drove 12 hours from Sioux Falls, South Dakota for the very first game. Because when we were kids, we didn't have a team, you know? I mean, originally. My parents from Cincinnati where I was born. So we followed the Reds all through the 70s when I was in grade school. But I just can't. I mean, I get choked up about it. Still, I do. Is that a real, is that a thing where? Are the Rockies like the home team for South Dakota or is it parts of the state and you go east to Wisconsin or Minnesota or something? It was the twins. No, I was living there at the time, but there was no way I was going to miss the first Rocky. Yeah. How cool. Do you remember who the pitcher was? Yeah, it was Kent Bottenfield against Bryn Smith for the Rockies. And Eric Young stood up there, 80,000 plus and hit the – First at bat, hit a home run. The place went, I mean, can you imagine? No, I can't imagine. I can't imagine. I wonder was everyone in their seat at this point? I mean, I would hope so. It sure felt like at the National Women's Soccer League. you know, inaugural home opener in Powerfield. People were ready for it. People were sitting down. But could you imagine if you missed that first at bat? Oh, no. The place was stuffed, I would say, 45 minutes before the game. I mean, there were people throwing baseballs around outside the stadium for tailgating. Sure. But, I mean, the electricity was. off the charts. That's so cool. And the one thing I remember is one of my brothers married a girl from New York City, and so he had gotten used to the New York culture for baseball. And it's half an hour before the game, and the place is packed around us, and he said, I'm going to deliver the first taunt in Rocky's baseball history. And Bruce Smith was the Rocky's pitcher, and my brother stood up, and he waved his fist in the air, and he said, hey Smith, hey Smith. Yerabum. So he claimed the first taunt in Rocky's history, which fits New York more than it does here. But yeah, looking forward to Friday. Yeah. See you guys down there. I'll be there. And her website describes her as a visual storyteller, a professional photographer and a social strategist, the latter of which sounds very interesting. Calla, welcome to K-O-A. And we do so through neuroscience-backed framework that we've proven in a lab. And one of those foundational pieces of a happy life.

And so the payphone project came about because we wanted to connect to different kinds of people. And I don't know if you saw, but our first iteration of this was actually call a Democrat and call a Republican. And we had pay phones up in San Francisco and Texas. And so. That went really well and there was a lot of great connection and common ground being found. And so we were like, let's connect younger people with older people because those are two demographics that experience a lot of loneliness. And loneliness, it not only is bad for our brains, but it's bad for our physical health as well. And so this is our attempt at helping people be happier through connection. So tell us a little bit about the setup of these pay phones, the caller boomer, and I like how call a zoomer has a little description by it saying like a young person, because sometimes the boomers might need an idea of what the zoomers are. But explain where these are set up and the connection between the two. Yeah, so one of the phones is in a senior living facility in Reno, Nevada. and it's in their game room. And then the other one is out on the sidewalk outside of a place called pavement coffee on campus of Boston University, so on the East Coast. And we picked Boston because there are so many universities there that it just is a hub for young people that might be open-minded and interested in doing something like this. And we picked Reno because, well, my colleague that actually put the pay phones up, he. had a connection to volunteers of America who run that facility. And it was harder to get a senior living place to kind of go along with this interesting pitch. It's a little easier to like put it outside somewhere. Like having it inside is a little bit more of a cell. And so we landed on Reno because he had the connections there. And also just geographically, it's so different than Boston. So that's kind of like a good talking point for people to get going there. But yeah, so we picked those two. And the phones are. internet phones so originally you know they're so you pick it up and it calls emergency services but my colleague and his friend reprogram them so when you pick it up they only call each other and so it picks up and it rings and if someone's walking past they can answer it and if they don't they're able to leave a voicemail and we are the ones that get the voicemails though and so at the end of the experiment what we share the voicemails and during we've you know we've been sharing to our social feed at matter neuroscience on instagram some of our favorite conversations so you you were talking about this repeatedly as an experiment and as science right it's not a it's not a gag or and it's and it's definitely not a gag but it's more than just setting up a couple phones so that people of different ages can

can talk with each other. Just talk briefly about the science and research part of this and what you do with whatever data you gather from these calls. So I would say matters. You know, peer-reviewed in the lab studies are things we've done in partnership with Stanford University and Maastricht University in the Netherlands. And those we've identified biomarkers for happiness, which essentially we mean when you experience a positive emotion, we've mapped where in the brain the neurotransmitters light up. And through that, we've established this framework. So this experiment... It's not a gag, per se, but it's more of an anecdotal experiment. We're not, like, gathering evidence in, like, an actual scientific method way. It's more just seeing how people act. And, you know, online, it's easy to leave an anonymous comment. And the algorithms promote like anger, you know, whatever gets the most engagement. People are angry and commenting on that's what gets propagated and put onto our feeds. And it's an anonymous black hole, it seems like. And in this case, I think it's much harder to be. rude or angry when you're when someone that's human on the other end is picking up and you're face to face with an actual person and it's just we've been proven correct with that hypothesis that people are polite and open-minded and it's been a really positive feedback that we've seen so anytime we have a fun new experiment like this, you always have the criticism of, well, this is why we can't have nice things. And you may have just answered the question there, but for the most part, no prank calls, no, you know, people trying to scam older people, nothing that you have to be worried about between the two, because unfortunately today's day and age, you have to worry about that. For sure. No, I mean, we've been so pleasantly surprised during the first iteration, we had some, overwhelmingly positive responses. We had like 350 connected calls and 400 voicemails left. And a negligible percentile of those calls were negative. And if they were, it was more of a voicemail. So you're not actually getting connected to those people. And we didn't share like the negative stuff. But we really didn't have that much to sort through. Like everything was very positive, which is maybe unexpected. You don't necessarily. think people getting along these days is super common. Just a few seconds left here, Kala. I'm curious whether you find the older people seem to be benefiting a lot more or the younger people benefiting a lot more in these connections or whether it's kind of close to equal and the younger folks and older folks are, you know, both getting a lot from these conversations.

I would say that positive social interaction benefits everyone regardless of their age when you have a good conversation, even if it feels a little surface level or short. If it goes well, you're going to get a boost of those feel-good neurotransmitters to your brain and you're going to benefit and you're challenging yourself to talk to someone new and get out of your routine. Just completely your thing. Let me do one very, very brief news thing that I promised you earlier in the show. The Trump administration had sued the state of Colorado and Denver over quote unquote sanctuary city policies. And there have been a couple other lawsuits like this against. Illinois and New York, and a federal judge named Gordon Gallagher basically threw out the lawsuit saying the federal government does not have the power to direct the Colorado legislature or Colorado state and local officials in such a fashion. The fashion that he means is. is telling the state or the city that they have to do this or that thing to help enforce federal immigration law. This is pretty clear in federal law that the federal government cannot commandeer local officials and force them to cooperate with the federal government in things like enforcing federal law.
