This Memorial Day, as America approaches the 25th anniversary of 9-11, the Tunnel to Towers Foundation paid off the mortgages on 26 homes for Gold Star families and families of fallen first responders across 13 states. In tribute to the 343 FDNY firefighters lost on 9-11, Tunnel to Towers has committed to delivering 343 mortgage-free homes this year. Their courage. will never be forgotten. Join us. Donate $11 a month at T2T.org. Hey, it's Ryan Reynolds here for MintMobil. Now, I was looking for fun ways to tell you that Mint's offer of unlimited premium wireless for $15 a month is back. So I thought it would be fun if we made $15 bills. But it turns out that's very illegal. So there goes my big idea for the commercial. Give it a try at mintmobile.com slash switch. Upbound payment of $45 for three months, $90 for six months, or $180 for $12-1 plan required, $15 per month equivalent. Taxes and fees extra. From the heart of our nation's capital, Washington, D.C., backed by the trusted voices of Team Fox, a clear, fresh voice cutting through the noise to tell the truth. It's Guy Benson with Guy Benson. Welcome to Guy Benson with Christine, Dylan, and Joelle. I am Harry Hurley. It's an honor to fill in today for Guy, who we will hear from, though, in the very near future on Guy Benson. We're going to start the next hour with your host, Guy Benson, on Guy Benson, of course, as it should be. On a busy news day, let's get into it. I think it's very important that all of us understand that if we have a shutdown... this Friday, which essentially means effective Saturday morning, that it is all over a contrived, fake crisis because there is no there there. It's all phony. The Democrats, in my estimation, they want to shut the government down because they're rooting, it's a terrible position to be in. They're rooting for America to fail. Who does that, right? No matter who is in office, you always have to root for your team to win. How can you root for failure? Here's what they know. They know that when there is a shutdown, that many bad things happen as a result of that. It depends on how deep... The shutdown is, I mean, the last shutdown was very brief over almost before it began. And I think that was to set up sort of, hey, we're the reasonable people when we're really, you know, against something we're going to tell you. But yeah, we can give you the votes you need to get this back open. That was also a fake out. The shutdown before that, which was record setting, the longest in American history, they wanted to degrade. the economy because here's what happens you go and shut down 80% of the country and you're going to affect GDP you can assign almost like a math equation how many billions of dollars you will choke out of the economy and they did it and we were enjoying what 4.5-ish percent GDP You might remember not that long ago, it's not exactly ancient history, when Barack Obama could not grow the American economy because Obamics goes against everything that this country was founded upon. Free market capitalism, the ability in terms of risk-reward, people will risk capital when there's an opportunity. to make profit you choke the life out of that then you see people shut down businesses or layoff employees get smaller rather than continue to grow and to grow the economy

4:32

Trump comes along, I said for a long time, change the president, because they tried to create this thing that we can only grow at like 1%, maybe 2% if you're lucky in a miracle. And that was called, quote, unquote, the new normal. It's not a new normal. It was abnormal. And my position was always changed the president and will immediately go back to robust growth. President Trump ran as a businessman, a free market capitalist that was going to open up opportunity, that everybody would be able to grow to the limits that they were potentially able to do, that if you work hard, you can get ahead. It just gave people incentive in the risk-reward model, and it worked. And every single demographic came along for the ride. And we were consistently growing beyond 4 to 5% and beyond. Because those are the kinds of policies Reagan-esque, if you will, that work. The ones that say, hey, you can open up a coal plant, but we're going to put you out of business, well, then nobody's going to open up a coal plant. That's just one example. Obama really actually said that. Told you you could do it, but that we're going to bankrupt you. So not many takers when you know that the government is basically going to come after you. So what can the Democrats do? We're back to growing over 4%. The Dow hit 50,000 and held it for the first time in history. So all the indices are way up. The GDP is strong. Interest rates are coming down. Inflation, to be fair, is not absent. But it's no longer 7, 8, 9% and beyond. It's more in the realm of 2.7%. They want to get it to 2% and below, and that's the hardest part. Very, very challenging. But it has come way down. You look at your individual states in Guy Benson universe, and you can tell that the cost for a gallon of gasoline in probably half the country or more. is below $3. And there are states President Trump said it during his Super Bowl interview with NBC that there is a state where it's under $2 a gallon. So if you use the model that for every penny, you don't have to pay for a gallon of gasoline, that you're going to put a billion to a billion and a half dollars back into the economy. Now imagine. The difference between paying 285, which seems to be a common price that I see in many, many states, 260 to 290-ish, as opposed to paying high 3, 4, and beyond. And, of course, you look at the worst model, California, and they have all these goofy blends, and it's so expensive. And their state sales tax on the gas is very, very high. They do everything wrong. So this guy thinks he can be president. Literally everything. People got burned out of their homes. They can't even get permits. President Trump had to go put a man in there. Good man, by the way. Lee Zeldin to get through their bureaucracy and to give out permits because it's been a long time now. We predicted it would be years and people would not be able to rebuild.

8:20

Think about that. It's unbearable. Our childhood home did burn down to the ground. It's one of the worst things you can ever experience is watching your home burn to the ground and you lose all your physical belongings. But you get through it because you're so grateful, but in some cases that wasn't even true, but you're so grateful because all of your children got out and you got out and you can go buy new stuff. But these folks have not been able to rebuild. So vote for Gavin Newsom to be president. Isn't that incredible? His record of failure is breathtaking. So what do the Democrats have right now? They don't have the White House. They're in the minority. It's close, but they're in the minority everywhere. They want the majority back like you need to breathe air. They want it that bad. They will say anything. They will do anything. They will call reasonable things Jim Crow 2.0. They will do all kinds of very, very damaging things, such as this Friday and a Saturday shutting the government down. And it's not just me saying it. Whoever would have believed that Senator John Fetterman would be one of the most reasonable people on either side of the aisle. Senator John Fetterman knows what's about to happen as well. Joel, cut number six. No, I absolutely would expect that it's going to shut down. I know that we, the Democrats, we provided, I think it was 10. 10 kinds of basic things. And then the Republican pushback quickly saying that that's like a Christmas wish list and that they're non-starters. I truly don't know what specifically are the Democrats' red lines that it has to be certainly not going to get all 10. But now, if I had to say now, they would probably expect that there is going to be a shutdown because things are just drunk, drick, drink, excuse me, drown down to committed to do that. See, John Fetterman makes a whole lot of sense there, and he knows. He knows what they're doing. And it's exactly what they're doing. They want to shut down the government. That was Senator John Fetterman on the Fox News Channel on Sunday Morning Futures with Maria Bartramo. And he continued, Joel Cut 7. Where we are now, trying to find a way. forward just trying to call balls and strikes, seeing what's unreasonable. Hopefully we don't have to do and pay the TSA people and everyone, secure our border and focus, focus on deporting all of those kinds of criminals wherever they are. That's the guy that votes for that and supports that as a Democrat. And I don't ever want to vote to shut our government down again. What a reasonable guy. Now he's from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. And it's a perfect example that when you have to do the right thing or you're going to get voted out the next chance they get. You see, the problem is a good number of these Democrats. They can vote against the wishes of their own constituents and they will vote to put them back in. It is literally a cognitive dissonance people voting against their own self-interest. It's unbelievable to watch it go down.

11:43

So you remember we had the four-day shutdown. It was basically the end of one week, the weekend, and then right back in business. This left DHS and the Democrats didn't want to fund everything. This could all be over. It should all be over because ICE, for example, is their big grievance. And they've made that their big grievance, but that also is fake. Because you look at the job they've done in states where they have been properly welcomed to work with local government. They're going into these places like Minnesota and other places where they're working against their own federal agents. So ICE already is funded for the next three years. This is a complete fake out. What it's going to do is affect funding for airports. Do you want to have that again? So they left the DHS unfunded, just putting a two-week patch, if you will, to keep it going so that they could have this showdown this Friday. And John Fetterman just told you how it's going to go. We'll be right back. We're going to share with you some comments from President Trump on the other side of this break. Thanks for tuning in on a busy newsday. This is Guy Benson. Welcome back to Guy Benson with Christine Dylan and Joel, Harry Hurley filling in today for Guy Benson, who we will be hearing from in just a little bit on today's. It's a busy newsday. So President Trump did what most presidents do. To be fair, Joe Biden did not for the last two years with President Trump. has done it for the last two years. And he basically understands that this is an obligatory type interview that at the Super Bowl, even though the president, he chose not to attend the Super Bowl, he did choose to commit. to this interview that they do as a part of the Super Bowl coverage. I'm glad he did. I think it's important. Take your message everywhere. He always does that, never afraid to speak to anyone. So he does this interview with the NBC Nightly News anchor Tom Lomas. And it doesn't take but a moment to see exactly where they're going here because they have an agenda. They all want Democrats. to be in the White House, in the House of Representatives, and in the United States Senate. So let's keep with this talking point of basically that the American people, you know, President Trump keeps saying that the economy is good, but the American people say it's not. It's the same thing they did with George, H.W. Bush, and they do it whenever it's a Republican. Nothing is ever allowed to be good. And then even when it's bad, they don't allow it to be bad for a Democrat. I'll give you an example. Obama blamed President George W. Bush for eight years. Everything was Bush's fault. Be honest. Joe Biden blamed Trump for everything for four years. And again, with impunity. Here's President Trump barely through the first year of his second term, split term. And he's got this guy Llamas asking him, at what point are we in the Trump economy? You get what I'm saying? Obama could be in the Bush economy for eight years. Biden was in the Trump blame game for four years. But at year one. Trump's got to own it. It's his now. Even though Biden broke it, it's your problem now. It's like health care. Democrats broke it. And then they tell you it's your problem now. So just take a listen because this is very revealing. And I thought that President Trump's answer was very good. He owned it, even though the other side never owns it. Super Bowl interview, NBC, President Trump, Joel Cut 19. Oh, I'd say we're there now. I'm very proud of it, 5.6%. You know, we have a GDP of 5.6 despite a shutdown. We had a 42-day shutdown and they caught the Democrat shutdown. And because of that, I lost a point in a half. I would have been in a 7 GDP, which hasn't been seen, I don't know, ever maybe.

16:37

Maybe ever. Yeah. And I think 26 is even going to be better. You know, we have hundreds of billions of dollars pouring into our country. Actually, trillions, $18 trillion is being invested in our country as we speak. And there are factories and plants and thousands of businesses being built all over the country. Nobody has ever seen any – I just spoke to President Xi Jinping of China. Nobody has ever seen anything like what's happening right now. When will we see those? I mean, keep pushing, keep pushing. All right, Tom, I'll bite. We'll get to that. When will the prices come down? Not that they didn't explode for four years with impossible 9% inflation and things weren't going up 9%. That was just the total. inflation percentage. They were going up unbelievably. But when are they all going to come down now that you've been in there for five minutes? Remember they blame President Trump for eggs after like the first day? When are you going to bring the price of eggs down? Joel, cut 18. Well, they've already come down. I think you've seen Tom when I took over eggs, poultry, all these things were through the roof. In fact, the first question I got, what are you going to do about eggs? It was my second day in office at a news conference, and they were screaming, what are you going to do about eggs? Eggs had gone up like four times. If you notice over the last few days, it's only a few days, but the Democrats have gone to another subject. I think they're probably saying dictator or something. They've got a new word. They don't use the word affordability anymore because prices are way down. Gasoline is, I just left Iowa, 199 and even $1.85 a gallon, $1.85 a gallon. That's in Iowa. Many states are cracking $2. Gasoline is way down. And honestly, everything is coming way down. Beef is coming down. Yeah, but yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, but, but nothing's good enough. Nothing's ever good enough. 2.7% inflation versus nine. Nothing's good enough. When, you know, manufacturing job numbers? When is all this going to happen? Will plants open up? I mean, on and on and on. It was not an unfair interview, but it's the kind of interview that only Trump in particular and only a Republican. in general, will ever be given that kind of interview. The other side, it would basically be, you are so fantastic that I can't describe how fantastic you are. How are you so fantastic? Could you please, could you please tell our viewers and listeners, please, you are so fantastic that I can't stand it? When we come back, We're going to welcome Matt Finn, Fox News National Correspondent, get an update. That'll be Dateline, Tucson, Arizona, just hours before this $6 million ransom deadline right around the corner. Update on Nancy Guthrie when we come back. This is Guy Benson.

I didn't think the pain from the shingles rash would affect simple everyday tasks, like bathing, getting dressed, or even walking around. I was wrong. Though not everyone at risk will develop it, 99% of people over the age of 50 already have the virus that causes shingles, and it could reactivate at any time. I developed it and the blistering rash lasted for weeks. Don't learn the hard way like I did. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist today. Sponsored by GSK. Filling in for Guy Benson, here's Harry Hurley. Welcome back to Guy Benson with Christine, Dylan, and Joelle. We have standing by on Guy Benson newsmaker hotline, Matt Finn. So you know if it's something that is really, really important with California wildfires and many of these other big stories at Fox News National Correspondent Matt Finn has covered over the years. He is there. His coverage has been, I believe, very, very important. Matt, welcome. It's Harry. How you doing? I'm doing well, Harry. How are you? Well, I'm doing well, and a heck of a thing there going on. Let me start with something that's going to sound a little bit parochial, but you're on the ground, so I think you have a feel where we're just, you know, gleaning it from far away here on the East Coast. The sheriff of Pima County... Chris Nanos attended a college basketball game where I think that that came off just off-putting. How is that playing, pun intended, in Tucson, Arizona area? I think some people look at it as kind of unprofessional and out of touch with everything that's going on. You know, that exact night, Saturday, Savannah Guthrie and her family released yet another video. We're talking to the people who are potentially holding their mother captive. And so, you know, at the same time, being at a basketball game just seemed a bit irreverent and unnecessary, considering there's, you know, an active investigation for a missing person here. Other people I've heard say, hey, you know, he's going to blow off steam however he wants, and, you know, there's other people working the case. But I'm going to tell you something that's being on the ground is, you know, the sheriff and his investigation is not widely respected. That's it. That's what I was going to bring up. It's not. And if he was, you know, gangbusters and if everybody was like, wow, this guy, you know, is just doing a bang-up job, I don't think anybody would even cared. They would have said exactly what you, Matt Finn, just said, hey, come on, this guy's going 24 hours a day, you know. And we don't even know. Maybe he has a relative. I don't even know. But, you know, a child or somebody important in the family or whatever. I would have taken the same. He's just blown off steam because you do, you do have to just decompress when you're doing something.

22:37

like this all the time, but he's not inspiring confidence, and then he goes and does this. It's almost like he welcomed the criticism, Matt. Yeah, I mean, obviously very intentional, and, you know, the timing just probably could have been worse because the family released to their latest video right around, you know, the same time of him being there that night. So it's like simultaneously a family's pleading for their mother to be returned in your jurisdiction and you're out of basketball game. But it's his decision. Yep. Yeah, I hear you, but, you know, it's going to open up the criticism, though, because he welcomed it with what he did. Everybody's a, you know, citizen journalist. He was going to get picked up on video, and oh, yes, he did. And even the person that filmed it did a narrative on how he didn't think it was a good idea. Matt Van Live from Tucson, Arizona. So we're in the Eastern Time Zone, as you know. You're two hours earlier there. Is this second demand, it's ransom demand? Is it a 5 p.m. Eastern time demand or a 5 p.m. your time demand? TMZ, who got that first letter, is reporting it's 5 o'clock Arizona time. Okay. So you've got a few more hours. It would be really close if you were doing it on Eastern time. I know that throughout the day people have been checking. I think TMZ in particular, I don't know how they have it, but they seem to be able to see if there's been any deposit. into this account. That's pretty wild that they know that, actually. So last time I heard, Matt, not long ago, was no money had been deposited into that account. Is that still the case, allegedly? Yeah, that was my last check. And, you know, TMZ says it got that first letter. So they, I believe, may have been given, you know, the link to the Bitcoin wallet, which is how they're able to check it. Wow. There's so many things swirling through my head all during... this ordeal and it's just got to be awful for the family whether this ransom is somebody that's just capitalizing not even involved potentially and i'm speculating i'm not saying this is true but any number of things could be true this ransom may go into the ether and and and might not even be associated with their mom or it very well could be kidnappers that is so so many things to consider whether to do this or not. Yeah, you know, I guess that's like the great question right now is are these ransom notes actually linked to whomever removed Nancy from her home? And, you know, you have to ask if the feds or the family were able to confirm. that these ransom notes or requests were real, would they have paid them by now? You know, something as simply as a proof of life or something that only Nancy would know. You have to imagine that the family would have paid. And apparently, at least what we know publicly, that has not happened, you know, there's been no update on that. And that really begs a lot of questions. Matt, how about this, though? The one ransom thing, just they immediately crushed. They got the person. They crushed it. But this seems to hang out there like there's some credibility to it. And in the last video that you referenced, Matt, on your arrival today on Guy Benson, is very intriguing because Savannah Guthrie said, quote, this is the only way we will have peace. Quote, this is very valuable to us.

26:11

and we will pay. Don't you find that unusual language? Very cryptic. It doesn't seem personal. It doesn't seem like the way she was speaking in the first. It was the way she spoke in the first video. By any means, the first video seemed way more personal. It seemed like some of her own words. So yes, it seems like there was a definite change in tone. I think some people are interpreting. She also said, you know, return our mother to us so we can celebrate with her. Some people are interpreting that let us celebrate with her in person. Other people, sadly, are interpreting that possibly is a celebration of life with her. So she may not be with us anymore. But, you know, again, I think, I think if Savannah Guthrie or her siblings in those videos established that these ransom notes are real, they would have paid. And the guy that you mentioned that was busted in Los Angeles, he texted the family. He found out the... I believe it was the sister and the brother-in-law's bone numbers and texted them. So they were able to easily and immediately trace this guy. The other emails coming through, Harvey Loven has explained that the emails are, you know, coming from like an unknown sender. And then, of course, the Bitcoin itself, the wallet is kind of an unknown sender. So maybe they're not nearly as traceable as the guy who sent the text message. So, you know, one thing I talked to a federal prosecutor, also Nicole Parker, former FBI, who was on our air today, saying, you know, the wallet itself may be unidentifiable. But if you send money to a person's wallet, ultimately they have to provide some type of identification to remove the funds from that wallet. So, you know, Bitcoin is traceable. Once they try to negotiate, it's traceable. If you deposit money into that wallet, which TMC is saying empty, but if you deposit money into that wallet, it is everyone the opposite end, it has to provide some type of identification or information to remove it. So that's where you can be busted, you know. And so something changed, I think, in the latest video, in Savannah's demeanor, in their wording, in their tone, they haven't paid out yet. So you really have to wonder what's going on behind the scenes. On the ground here, a lot of activity over the weekend. investigators back at Nancy Guthrie's house up on her roof, looking down what appeared to be like a manhole or a septic tank. Also, they were at Annie Guthrie's, the sister's house Saturday night, taking pictures inside of a garage, and we believe inside the house. And I'm told that it's... Notable that investigators went there at night because a lot of times they like to use a black light, maybe to look for fingerprints or blood or something like that. So it's almost like two tracks. We have like this ongoing ransom demand, but there's also, you know, a big investigation going on behind the scenes and also public on the ground. Matt Finn, Fox News, National Correspondent visiting on Guy Benson. Do you know because we hear blood? And then it took a number of days before they said that it was Nancy Guthrie's blood. Is this trace blood, or was this a significant amount of blood? Do we know? So my friend, Brian Enten at News Nation, an outstanding investigative reporter, I believe he's the one who initially filmed the blood.

29:29

After the sheriff's office here cleared Nancy Guthr's house and said it's not a crime scene anymore, Brian explains that he went up to knock on the door to see who may answer. Maybe Savannah's in there, maybe people are in there. And that is when he filmed this now infamous blood splatter on the front stoop or like the front porch of Nancy's house. And Nancy Grace herself said, you know, the blood looks like a splatter, like it dropped. It doesn't look like it was, you know, gushing out in the midst of some type of, you know, altercation. So, you know, take from that what you will. Some people say perhaps someone had a nosebleed, perhaps someone was bleeding from another part of their body. It's just not clear. Ashley Banfield, another reporter, she said, has, you know, she has some information out there. And she has said on video that one of her sources tells her that there was blood inside the house as well. Well, you would think if she came out with it, then it didn't just start then. So I'll go with that just hypothetically. How about this, Matt? In terms of the house was turned over. very, very quickly by Sheriff Nanos, but then the FBI, you know, the Major League team comes in, and it's a crime scene all over again. Now, was there any concern about this, you know, people walking around this? It's been turned back, and now it's a crime scene again and taped off. It's pretty strange, isn't that? I was following this from home initially now I'm here, and I remember thinking, wow, you know, they clear to that crime scene pretty quick. And then what? They didn't clean up the blood? I mean, who leaves blood there like that? You know, and so oftentimes, like, what will happen is even if they remove, like, the crime scene tape, though, you have a deputy or security at the end of the driveway, you know, not allowing people on there. And so, yeah, I was thinking, gosh, that was quick. And then to your point, like, all weekend long, you know, at one point, investigators reclaimed the property. So they kicked all the media out of the area, pushed them way back, which is fine. And then, you know, did their thing for hours and hours. And then they went over to Amy's house. So, yeah, it seemed like the feds or another round of investigators, like, no, we need much more evidence from the property. Now, how about this? What are people that do this for a living and smart guys like you? When you hear that if it's a person or persons, they're in Nancy Guthrie's house for more than 41 minutes, I guess it is. The exact time you may know, I don't know, but it's over 40 minutes that they're in there. If you're just going in there to kidnap someone out of bed, what went on for 40-some minutes in that house? Yeah, right. And so it's like it begs so many questions, and there's so many theories out there. You know, if...

32:30

If this is a kidnapping, what took 40 minutes to do so? You know, you don't know. Nothing apparently was stolen, nothing of value was stolen. So if it was a robbery gone bad, you'd think they may have grabbed something about you, you know. Or if it was someone personal, maybe they were going through some personal items, personal records, documents, you know, just trying to get a little more information out of the house. And look, I mean, the ransom notes, you know, said that Nancy had left behind her Apple Watch and that there was a smashed floodlight. Both of those are believed to be true. They could be, like, pretty good guesses because she's pictured with her Apple Watch, and you probably could make out a broken floodlight on the back of the house. But it also could indicate that these ransom notes were coming from someone who was at least there or at least knows her property. I'm going to follow up on that, Matt. That's a really good point. Is there any evidence for the family because, you know, they're getting these communications and one of them was completely bogus. Other ones are being treated much more credibly. Have the person or persons reaching out ever said something which would convince the family that they were inside their mother's home and that they do have her? So in the last video, Savannah Guthrie says, we received your message. So it's not clear if whomever is doing this finally got directly in touch with the family or if Savannah's just referencing the two ransom notes that were sent to the media. But the local stations here in Tucson, they have given a little bit of information about what's in the letters. They're obviously protecting them for all the right reasons. But no one has, none of the reporters, like the news directors that I have seen doing interviews have said, oh, yeah, I mean, they definitively identified something in the house and the family. The family will be reassured by this. You know, that hasn't come out. Final question. Matt Finn is visiting with us, very talented Fox News national correspondent. He is live in Tucson, Arizona. He's been covering the Nancy Guthrie. issue very, very well and very, very closely. Early on, we've got about maybe 45 seconds for your response, Matt. Sorry about that. But I think you can do it. Because this was very early on. They said she needs medication to live. So that's scary. And they said the sheriff that her medication, her phone, and her wallet were left behind. But is there any evidence that people have... medication and pillboxes. Maybe it's one bottle. It doesn't mean she doesn't have her medicine, does it? No, but, you know, I don't have the answer to that, but, you know, the sheriff and Savannah Guthrie have said she needs her medicine. You know, there's no indication that, oh, yeah, if you have it, please give it to her. Like they're saying, we need her back, but she needs her medicine. So they're acting as if she has not had her medicine, which now would be eight or nine days now. Yes, right. No indication she has any medicine with her. We have a bonus 30 seconds. Is this gone? Matt Finn from...

35:50

optimism that she can be returned home to a more dour outlook as time goes on? Yeah, and it's just unfathomable anguish for this, you know, for Savannah and the family. My heart and my prayers grow out, so I'm constantly praying for this family. I just cannot imagine anything more cruel than the situation. You're, you know, your 84-year-old mother who lived this in late in life, and now that doesn't how it happens. But yeah, every day that passes, you know, it's less and less promising. Matt, thanks for the time. Keep up the good work. Stay safe. Stay well. And good to visit with you. You too. Thank you. Take care. We'll be right back. This is Guy Benson. That was Matt. Billing in for Guy Benson. It's Harry Hurley. I like that vibe, Joelle. Welcome back to Guy Benson with Christine, Dylan, and Joel. I'm Harry Hurley. Filling in today for Guy Benson. Let's close out this particular hour with this, because these seats, every one of them matters. Because basically the People's House, the United States House of Representatives, is about a one-vote proposition right now heading into the... coveted midterm elections. With New Jersey Governor Mikie Sherrill vacating her seat when she became the governor of New Jersey, that's the 11th District of New Jersey, that opened up a special election. You have now what looks to be soon, very, very close to being Congresswoman elect Mahia, who is leading former Congressman Tom Malinowski. All kinds of people thought that Malinowski had it in the bag. But I'm telling you, this is another proof positive that the farthest left side of the Democrat Party right now is driving the bus because Mahia. put on a heck of an election day. The apparatus, all kinds of things appeared to favor the former Congressman Malinowski, but he now trails by 868 votes with still several thousand when you count provisionals and remain uncounted and some of the vote by mail in several counties that remains uncounted. But she has a lead that's starting to look like it's going to hold up. We'll be right back. Don't go away. Stay close. Or this is Guy Benson. Stay with us.

Generation of Conservative Talk. Right here, right now. Fair, fun, and backed by the trusted voices and reporting resources of Fox News. Fox News. You're listening to Guy Benson. And now here's your host, Guy Benson. Welcome to Guy Benson with Christine Dylan and Joelle. I'm Harry Hurley filling in today for the great Guy Benson. But how often does the fill-in guy get to welcome the real host to his show? So this is a treat for me. Guy Benson, welcome to Guy Benson. It's good to be here, Harry. Thanks so much for pinch hitting today. It's been a unique. I'll put it that way. I can imagine. But really, really grateful that you were able to step in for these three hours and to join the audience here for a moment. And then hopefully I will have everything scrared away and I'll be able to appear as scheduled on special report tonight, 6 p.m. Eastern hour on Fox News Channel. So fingers crossed. I am. I'm praying for you. I know you're going to do it. And I have to say that... You're on outnumbered. You're on Gutfeld, regular, of course, on the big weekend show. Guest hosting Fox and Friends. My friend, you are all over the place. Well, that's true, and I'm blessed and grateful for the opportunity. And, you know, I was on the big weekend show Saturday and Sunday, which both ended up becoming four-hour shows, five to nine, because we were doing some of this breaking news extended coverage on the Nancy Guthrie story. For that reason, I didn't head back to D.C. last night. I was coming back this morning, and without bogging everyone down on the details, I guess when it gets really, really cold, trains just kind of melt down the whole system and cancellations, delays all over the place. But it is what it is, and here we are, and just fired up to be here on the show, if only for a segment. Well, Guy, it's an honor to fill in for you, and my goal is always to not break your show. So that's the goal. And you never do. You always do a great job. Thank you, Guy. You have a gift that keeps on giving. You knew it in advance. You knew he was going to win. You knew what it was going to be like. Zohran Mamdani is just like a cornucopia buffet. You almost can predict. Maybe not the actual day, hour, minute, but you can almost predict that he will defend the indefensible, that he will do the incredible. So he is now under fire, as you know, for defending a knife-wielding suspect over police officers. Isn't that a wonderful thing for a mayor to do, Guy? Well, I mean, it's just so demoralizing already for a police force that I'm sure is bracing for impact and what's going to happen over the next. four years under this guy. I mean, you know, I'm just coming back to the capital city from New York, and having been there in the frigid, frigid temperatures, I mean, it is not an exaggeration that mounds of garbage bags just piling up for days. These are basic, like, services that people, I think, expect from their tax dollars and what have you, and you can't pin that back totally on a brand new mayor, but there's this...

42:04

This juxtaposition where, you know, his health department is holding these big committee hearings about Gaza and all these accusations against Israel. I'm sorry, you've had more than a dozen homeless people freeze to death during the deep freeze, partially because of the policies that you proudly announced while condemning the frigidity of individualism and embracing the supposed warmth of collectivism. While speaking of collectivism, the trash is collecting on the streets not being collected during this period of first a weather incident and then a bunch of cold temperatures, you know, that's going to get people bent out of shape. Well, people are literally freezing to death in the streets. Your health department is focused like a laser on the Middle East and, you know, Palestine and all that. It just seems completely off base for what a local government ought to be doing at its very core level. And then, Harry, you mentioned this incident, and we had touched on it last week a little bit here on the show, but I really went off about it on TV last night. If you watch the video of this body cam of the officer who was called to this scene of a domestic disturbance, and unfortunately there's a very violently mentally ill person at this apartment, at this home, wielding a knife. And the cop, I was actually keeping track of it, tallying on the air how many times. The cop instructs this person to put the knife down. And he doesn't. And he keeps, in fact, coming closer and closer to the cop. The officer actually retreats into another room, again telling this person to put the knife down. And then finally this person chases them into the new room and lunges at them. That's when the shots get fired. And Zohran Mamdani's decision after that, because surely he saw the footage, we all did, he decided. He made a choice. to go to the hospital, to visit in his mind the victim of this, which is the guy with the knife who lunged at the cop, which is, just sends a shockingly bad signal and just a completely warped moral sense of right and wrong victimhood and aggressor. You can say it's very sad and tragic that this person... was having a mental health crisis and has some sort of affliction, that's true. You can also make that point without kind of putting this victimhood status and bestowing that upon him, while kind of by extension, at least the implication is that the cop did something wrong. When the cop, if anything, was too lenient gave this guy many opportunities to stop. coming at him with a deadly weapon. And I think the point Zohran Mamdani's trying to make is that police with guns shouldn't be responding to these situations at all. At all, there should just be, you know, social workers to do this. But the thing is, because he's saying no family should have to go through this. Like, well, would you be at the hospital saying, or the morgue?

45:13

Saying no family should have to go through this to the cop's family, if the cop had just let him stab him, right? It's just a crazy mentality that I genuinely cannot understand. But even if I'm trying to be as fair and as charitable as I can to Zohran Mamdani's viewpoint on this, What's his position? That the social service person is going to show up, some sort of counselor is going to show up and diffuse the situation with the guy with the knife and do so unharmed while unarmed? Is that the alternative history here that Zohran Mamdani believes is possible? Because what happens if the guy with the knife lunges? at the social worker who can't defend themselves. I don't understand, like, what exactly is the plan then? And again, it was not like... Zohran Mamdani was told half of a story about what happened, and he didn't see the footage, and he just sort of got an incomplete picture, and he said something briefly like, oh, what a terrible incident. No family should have to go through that. That's not this. They knew the full picture, and he made a decision to go with cameras and do a photo op with the guy who tried to stab the cop. And as I said last night on the big weekend show, and I'll say it again here. That goes to a worldview, that goes to an ideology, that goes to instincts that I don't think can be fixed, and this movie is not going to get better. This is not required because his voice is like the signature, but it is Guy Benson visiting on Guy Benson. Now, Guy. What Zohran Mamdani did, he showed everyone in New York City, every police officer, every citizen in New York City, every citizen around the country. He showed a window into his priorities. Scary, isn't it? Oh, yeah. And by the way, we've already seen a lot of NYPD looking for an exit ramp from that force. We've seen people taking early retirement, that kind of thing. And when you see that sort of mass demoralization in a police force, unfortunately, the outcomes can be really bad. I mean, we've seen it in Minneapolis where, I mean, not only did the political leadership, the left-wingers in Minnesota, Minneapolis, not have the back of law enforcement just the opposite. in 2020, so more than half a decade ago now, that police force is in some ways a shell of its former self. We've had our friend Jason Rantz on this show any number of times out at Seattle Red. That police force has shrunk considerably in recent years because a lot of these cops are like, listen, this is service, this is dangerous. I put my life on the line every day. I'm going to do that, take risks.

48:07

and do this for what, for a political leadership that's going to sell me down the river at the first side of trouble or will do so gleefully because they're, you know, they hate cops and are reflexively anti-law enforcement. Forget it and they'll go somewhere else. Yeah, guy, this will actually escalate, as you know, you've spoken about it on your show many times. This will escalate. escalate what already has been happening, and that is police officers retiring before they otherwise would because they don't feel safe. They don't feel supported. And you know in that job, if you delay action because you are thinking in your head that you're going to get criminally charged for doing your job, you delay like that. That can be your life snuffed out in an instant. Let's – And by the way, Harry, like, none of this is to say – that there aren't dirty cops and that cops should have impunity and they're always right no matter what. That's not true, right? And when people are engaged in misconduct or corruption or whatever, they should be thoroughly investigated and punished, you have to have accountability or else the whole system is thrown into suspicion with good people. So that's not the argument. It's like, oh, you know, you back the blue to the hilt no matter what 100% of the time. That's not the lesson here. But the lesson from the other side is, The vast, vast, vast majority of cops are in it for great reasons. We need them to be safe. It is a very dangerous job. And if you're an NYPD officer, and look, I'm not saying this with any degree of pleasure because, you know, I spend a lot of time in New York and I want to feel safe in New York. I want to feel protected in New York. But if you're an officer... And you're like, okay, what's the two-headed monster that's now in charge of this city? That's going to affect me. You've got the mayor. I know they like the commissioner of police. We'll see how long she lasts. But you've got the mayor ultimately in charge. And then you've got Alvin Bragg, who's out there busy charging innocent people like Daniel Penny and doing everything he can to not. prosecute aggressively, repeat criminals who, you know, have a rap sheet as long as my arm. And you look at that and you're like, you know, that's the foreseeable future. The people of this city voted for both of these people. Maybe the protecting and serving that I want to do is going to be elsewhere. I wonder what, you know, Daytona Beach. is paying cops these days, or what have you. And it's a Boca Raton. I can't blame some of these officers for doing what they're doing and making, in some cases, changes that they're making. And I think, you know, it could end up being extremely tragic and quite dangerous. Couldn't agree more. Hate to say this, less than three minutes. Guy Benson, visiting on Guy Benson, we've got to get your take on this. You've been on it the whole time, but this deadline is Friday now. This whole, what I think, is complete fake out. How about these Democrats guy? On one hand, they say that you need to have body cams on these ICE agents. And so they do the body cams. So now they say, oh, no, no, we're not for what we were four or five minutes ago. Now you're going to surveil, surveil.

51:14

you know, anti-ice protesters. And of course, they're for photo ID for federal agents, but not for photo ID for voters. Please, you're one of the best in the country at making sense of insanity. Please explain. Well, I mean, you can't make sense of it because it's nonsensical except through the prism of Democrats do whatever they think is in the interest of their partisan ideological ends and power. That's it. So if you want the motivation, there it is. And it is almost... Comical. I mean, if it weren't so serious, it would actually be quite funny. To see the Democrats, you know, they're out there with their demand. One of them is no masks. Or can't have any masks from the officers. Like, well, I'm sorry. They're only wearing masks because your mob is doxing them and chasing them and harassing them and attacking them. So, like, you can call off the dogs and maybe we can have a conversation when the huge spike in attacks dies down. Why don't you put the word out here? People stop doing this. They're not doing that. by the way, they're not discouraging. They're worse of the worst from behaving in this reprehensible way. But that's the reason why they're saying that they want no mask. Then they're demanding the body cams. I actually agree. I went on television. I went on radio. I said, this is sensible. We should have body cams. And what's interesting, to your point. Number one, a bunch of the left-wing activists, the pro-crime activists, that's what they are. They're now turning against body cams because so often they vindicate the officers. Exactly. And they disprove the lies that are told by the activist to whip up anti-police sentiments. So now they're like, oh, wait, this transparency accountability thing is actually creating transparency and accountability against our activists. So never mind. And then this other... point that, oh, well, we want the body cams as a way to hold the officers on us and potentially incriminate them. But using the body cams in any way to crack down on criminal harassment interference in enforcement exercises, never mind. They can't even stick with their own demands because their activists find some new problem with it to protect themselves. from any accountability. I mean, it's beyond parity. It is. They change mid-sentence and take both sides of the same issue to try to suit their cause. 30 seconds, Guy. The Democrats want a shutdown, correct? I think they probably do because it's a partial shutdown. It would be a very partial shutdown because the Republicans, frankly, have funded almost the whole government. I think they want to signal to their base that they are really, really fighting, fighting, fighting, fighting, fighting, against ICE and federal law enforcement. That is their number one animating issue right now in the country for their base, fighting the enforcement of our immigration laws, and they are going to do what they need to to signal that.

I'm Harry, and this is Guy Benson, and this is a Fox News alert. Savannah Guthrie has just recently released a new video. Joelle, cut 25. Hi there, everybody. I wanted to come on and just share a few thoughts as we... enter into another week of this nightmare. I just want to say, first of all, thank you so much for all of the prayers and the love that we have felt my sister and brother and I and that our mom has felt because we believe that. Somehow, some way, she is feeling these prayers and that God is lifting her even in this moment and in this darkest place. We believe our mom is still out there. We need your help. Law enforcement is working tirelessly around the clock trying to bring her home, trying to find her. She was taken and we don't know where. And we need your help. So I'm coming on just to ask you not just for your prayers, but no matter where you are, even if you're far from Tucson. If you see anything, you hear anything, if there's anything at all that seems strange to you, that you report to law enforcement, we are at an hour of desperation. And we're looking at two and a half hours before the $6 million ransom deadline. Hard to even imagine what Savannah Guthrie and her entire family are going through. When we come back, Fox News contributor Miranda Devine visiting on The Guy Venson Show on a busy news day. Stay with us. We'll be right back in just a little bit. Don't go away.

57:31

Benzson show sponsored by Previgin. Previgin, made for your brain. Welcome back to Guy Benson with Christine Dillon and Joelle. My name is Harry Hurley. It is an honor to fill in today for Guy Benson. You can catch him tonight. All of his travels go well and the freezing weather and all kinds of things have derailed. guy but he's going to get there uh... you'll see him on special report with brett bear tonight in the six o'clock hour eastern time on Guy Benson newsmaker hotline is one of the greats miranda divine fox news contributor new york post columnist extraordinaire the author of the big guy how a president and his son sold out america And Miranda, I think everybody in Guy Benson universe knows that Miranda has a hit podcast, Pod Force One, either her first guest ever or very early in Pod Force One's career of the show. President Trump either opened the show or very, very early on, was one of Miranda's earliest guests. Miranda, welcome the guy's program. Oh, thanks for having me, Harry. Great to talk to you. And I'm actually in Washington, D.C., in the Senate Heart Building, having just interviewed my next podcast guest, who is Senator Dave McCormick from Pennsylvania. Yeah, why am I not surprised? Miranda, you're everywhere. So this is a perfect jump-off point because this Friday... into Saturday. It all turns into a pumpkin from the Department of Homeland Security budget side of the equation because the Democrats purposely kept that only funded for a few weeks so that they can create a manufactured crisis. And of course, it touches on things that you have written about where they love to stir up racial division. And they ought to knock that out. because it does get people hurt, it gets people killed, but they don't seem to care because as long as they win, I guess in some warped way, the ends justify the means. I'll give you an example. We know that every reasonable person knows because even 71% of Democrats, and I believe that the other 28, 29% are just lying. 71% of Democrats even say we should have voter ID. Of course we should. There's no other place in the world where you just go in and it's illegal to ask somebody to show that they're a registered voter. It's unsurious and it's just crazy. But they don't just end it there, Miranda, as you know. Then people like Chuck Schumer, they call reasonable voter ID Jim Crow 2.0. That's their game, Miranda.

1:00:24

It's really quite sickening to see what they're doing. It's so nakedly political. And yet they're not above using minorities and blacks patronizing them, pretending that somehow they're not capable of getting ID, not capable of finding a DMV or using the internet is another great one or not having enough data on their phone or being in jail. stereotypes that clearly are just unconscious in the Democrat mind. And Miranda, the likely racist. It's the ones with the racist, you know, potty mouths that are calling the people who aren't the racist that they're not. Well, of course, and we know that because it's all projection with them. The person who, it's like, you know, the person who accuses everyone else of being a pervert who actually turns out to be, you know, the local pedophile. It's anybody who protests too much like the Democrats too and see racism around every corner. They're actually seeing it in their own heart, and it's their own guilt projected. And of course, the Democrats, everyone forgets this, but they were the party of pro-slavery. And so they, you know, I'm sure if you did a poll, most Americans say, oh, no, that's the Republicans, because they've been so clever the Democrats and the left have at painting the Republicans as the racist ones. That's true. The uncompassionate ones are people without any heart or soul. The truth is that it is much more compassionate to following Republican policies that actually lift all boats and actually allow economic growth so that people can be helped. So there is money in the coffers to actually give people who need free health care, etc. But with the Democrats, socialism, we know how compassionate that's been around the world. where it's been tried. It's a disaster. Every time, 100% track record of abject failure. How do you like this one? So they have their top 10 list. We really don't want to shut the government down. We want to work with you. They always want to work. Oh, we want to work with you. But just these 10 reasonable things. And they are willing in the same sentence and the same discussion to call voter ID Jim Crow 2.0, but in their top 10 list that Republicans have to meet these demands. to not have a shutdown this Friday into Saturday, they actually want the federal agents to have photo ID. And then, of course, they said early on on their top 10 hit list that they wanted, and I mean hit as in greatest hits, not any type of violent hit. They say that... We want body cams on the federal agents. So that's already being done. So now they're coming out, Miranda, and saying, we don't want body cams. They're all over the place here.

1:03:31

Well, you point out that delicious irony, which is that they're all against photo ID when it comes to voting, polling booths. But they want photo ID when it comes to ICE agents. And the only reason they want photo ID is so they can docks them. And that's what they're doing, to intimidate them, to try and make the agents be so despairing about their life, their job and how... insecure it is and how dangerous it is and then their families will start putting pressure on them that's why the activists go after the ice agents families it's it's quite sick the tactics they will go to but of course we know this through history the left will stoop to any tactic and we just i think americans are only just waking up to the fact that the democrat party has been fully taken over by the left there are a few good ones You know, there's John Fetterman, we've just been talking about in Pennsylvania, who has this lovely bipartisan friendship with Senator Dave McCormick. But for the most part, he's from a Democrat Party long gone. And it's been taken over by the radicals, and they are implementing the same evil tactics that were used by the communists of old. And he's come out in the last day on the Fox News channel and said that... they're going to shut it down. He even talks about them like they are going to shut it down. Like he isn't really one, which really he isn't. But he remains a registered Democrat. Really, I think, in name only because I could not agree with the great Miranda Devine anymore that the party is just completely taken over by the most extreme faction. You can see in New Jersey in the 11th district, a former congressman who was left of center, but not a maniac. Crazy Lefty is losing to someone that is just like the Zohran Mamdani profile that we see now where he goes and visits somebody that was wielding a knife against cops. Instead of saying, hey, are my police officers okay? He's going with cameras to visit the actual guy with the knife. I mean, you cannot make this stuff up. But you are very good Miranda Devine, Fox News contributor. at dispensing good advice. What would you say to Republicans to stop falling? It's like peanuts. You know, Lucy's going to hold that football for Charlie, and he's going to go make that kick this time. He's going to make that field goal. And every time she pulls the ball away, what can Republicans do to stop falling for these Democrat hoaxes? Well, I think to stop paying attention to the New York Times, the Washington Post. and all those big old media, left-wing media outfits that have set the narrative for so long. They're so dishonest. They haven't learned any lessons. You know, the New York Times currently has this new fandangled feature called the Autocracy Index, where every day it just lists, you know, how Donald Trump is turning this country more and more. into Nazi Germany and you know he is becoming more and more like Adolf Hitler it is such a ridiculous analogy it's laughable and yet there is a once

1:06:50

I guess a prestigious title stooping to that and unsurprised because actually I thought they got a new editor a couple of years ago and Joe Khan who had been a foreign correspondent in Beijing he'd written you know good pieces I thought he was a sound person but it seems that that newsroom is just too much for anyone to control. We were talking Miranda earlier in the program about the current state of New York City. The snow has not been picked up professionally and correctly. Trash is piling up. You know, it's almost like when Rudy Giuliani became the mayor of New York City, rats as big as cats, trash piled up to the moon. This is, I think, the Zohran Mamdani sort of message that... He's not, he's never done anything like this before. So you default to maybe your community agitator, cred, and do the things you want to do, like go visit the guy with the knife instead of going to see how your police officers are doing and stuff like that. What are your thoughts about the early days of New York City's Zohran Mamdani? Well, you can see from the way he speaks and spoke during the campaign that he sees himself as a great statesman astride the world stage and he's going to be, you know, laying that down the law to Benjamin Netanyahu. He's going to ensure that he's arrested if he sets foot in New York. You know, this is a guy who has much grander ambitions than kicking up garbage or, you know, plowing the streets of snow. And yet that's the role of the mayor. Exactly. And it's been a really good early slap in the face for him, I think. It doesn't matter who you are. If you live in New York and you had to, you know, for the first time in a very long time, the snow was not cleared off, it was cleared off the main part of the street. But where the cars were allowed to park, and normally what happens is they're moved, the car ever moved. And if they don't move themselves, they get towed. But for some reason, maybe it's the, you know, black law and order attitude. No cars were moved. So they're just frozen in place. And the snow piles up and it's full of all sorts of detritus and, you know, excrement and so on. It's all sorts of unmentable colors. And the garbage meantime is piled up because the fact that you've lost... Two lanes on the road, or at least one lane, means that traffic is slower. It means they just didn't get on top of the garbage. And, you know, even, I mean, Zohran Mamdani's own people are saying, oh, you know, we should have got onto the snow earlier. Rudy Giuliani, you just mentioned. the mayor with the moster. He managed to, you know, cut the crime and bring back law and order like never before and never since. But he also did just the bread and butter things that you're expecting a mayor to do. And he did it very well. And he's come out the other day saying, it's just unbelievable how incompetent Zohran Mamdani is that he allowed this first snowstorm of his reign as mayor to end up in such a shemozle.

1:10:13

So true. We are visiting with Miranda Devine Fox News contributor, visiting on Guy Benson. I was so happy about this what I'm about to say to you for you to take it away from here, Miranda. And it is that the usual suspects rooting for Melania. the documentary movie to fail. They were predicting its demise. They were saying in advance about low-ticket sales and just doing everything they could to ruin it before it even went up on its first big screen. Lo and behold, it has the biggest opening of any documentary in 14 years, and it has done very, very well. And of course, they don't ever go back and say, oops, we were wrong. But she's so elegant, she really knows how to handle these things, doesn't she? She does. And, you know, honestly, I see this documentary as just a middle finger to all those critics. You know, all the people who in the media who just totally trashed her in the first term, she tried to do everything right. And she did everything right. She was beautiful and elegant. She speaks six or seven languages. She was an adornment on the world stage. She was a good partner for President Trump. And, you know, and he's a big personality. It's a difficult role to fill. And she filled it so elegantly. She's the best dressed first lady we've had. Just a clothes horse, obviously a former model. And yet she was criticized for everything from her Christmas decorations to her clothing sets. They would not give her a fashion model criticized by these people. It's so on serious. Never on vogue. Right, exactly. They just can't help themselves. Miranda, we have to get this in. We've got about a minute and a half, and I wish we had more, but I'll tee it up. Associate Justice of the Supreme Court, Ketanji Brown Jackson. She went to the Grammys, and she almost like a groupie. She may be literally like a groupie. She's right in there applauding all of the anti-ice speeches. How does a supposed dispassionate judge do that, Miranda? Well, I mean, she's obviously not a dispassionate judge, and she doesn't even pretend to be. She sees herself, and you can see that in her opinions and in her voluble conversations when she has an oral argument, that she sees herself as a kind of representative of the far left, and she's proud of that. And that's why Joe Biden installed her, apart from his main criteria for...

1:13:04

installing for finding a Supreme Court judge was to fulfill the promise or the pact that he made with Senator Jim Clyburn during the 2020 Democratic primaries when he was trailing the pack and it was only the kingmaker of South Carolina Jim Clyburn did a deal with him that okay I'll endorse you which basically gives him the state if you put a female black woman onto the Supreme Court, and that is what he did. Nothing about merit, just about what her identity characteristics were. Miranda, great to visit with you. Be well. And good luck with the next Pod Force One. Thanks so much, Harry. Great to talk to you. Great to talk to you. Truly one of the greats, Fox News contributor Miranda Devine. We will be right back a little Olympics action when we come back. A few observations about how America is doing in the early going. And I suggest very, very well. This is Guy Benson. Filling in for Guy Benson, it's Harry Hurley.

1:14:18

Welcome back to Guy Benson with Christine Dillon and Joelle. I'm Harry Hurley. Honor to fill in for Guy. Quick Olympic Winter Games update. And they go through February 22nd. Norway has three goals right now, Switzerland three, United States, Japan, and Germany each have two. America off to a good start, and there's a lot of things that America is very, very strong in that will happen in this fortnight a little bit later in the Olympics. I love the Olympics, and I love rooting for our teams. And this... gold medal winning U.S. figure skating team of incredible young men and women. This Ilya Malanin. is unbelievable. He is the only one ever to land seven quads in one competition. He landed four last night, and he turned three other quads into triples. But he is called the quad god. And he came in. It was a tie for the gold between the United States and Japan. And it was going to come down to Ilya Malanin and Shinsato of Japan. And Malin scored 200.03. Shinsato 194.86. America wins the goal. This is Guy Benson.

Raise your glass. Raise your glass. To Guy Benson happy hour. Brought to you by the finish long drink. The finish long drink. Popular. Alcohol of beverage is taking a beverage is taking America by store. Visit the longdrink. Visit the longdrink.com. Filling it for Guy Benson. Here's Harry Hurley. Welcome to Guy Benson with Christine, Dylan, and Joelle. I am Harry Hurley. Honored to fill in for Guy, and it is an honor to present. One of the best. United States Senator Marsha Blackburn, visiting on Guy Benson Newsmaker Hotline. Let me take just a moment just to go through some of the... Important committees and some other things about Marsha Blackburn, and then we'll get into the important topics of the day. Marsha Blackburn serves on the following committees, Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee, Judiciary Committee, Veterans Affairs Committee, and Armed Services Committee, literally some of the most important committees in all of Congress. Marsha Blackburn is the author of her book, The Mind of a Conservative Woman, seeking the Best for Family and Country. And you can follow Marsha Blackburn. Her handle on social media is at Marsha Blackburn. Let me not forget to mention that Marsha Blackburn is also the prohibitive frontrunner to be the next governor of Tennessee. Marsha Blackburn, welcome to Guy Benson. I am always so happy to join a guy on his show, and I'm happy to be with you as you fill in for him. Thank you so much. Thank you right back, Marsha Blackburn. DHS funding, this just smells funny. It looks funny. The loyal opposition is putting out like a laundry list. Give us these 10 or 100 things, and then we'll be happy to vote. I don't think they want to vote, Marsha Blackburn. I think they want to shut down that ICE funding's already established for the next three years. Can't be over that. So then they say it's over DHS funding. They want to shut the government down, the Democrats, don't they? Well, they're trying anything they can do to stop President Donald Trump's agenda. And we know that the American people, by an overwhelming majority, want to see these criminal, illegal aliens, these bad actors deported. They want them out. of their communities, their cities, their states. They want them out of this country. They want the crime stats to come down. And they like the fact that your murder rate and your violent crime rates were lower last year than they have been previously. So.

1:18:44

Now they've decided to say, well, we want body cameras. Then they found out body cameras were in the bill. So then they said, well, we're against body cameras. And it doesn't matter what they bring up. There is an answer to that, a good common sense answer. But what we know is that they've come up with this crazy wish list of things that would basically turn the country into a sanctuary country. So we're going to have a debate, and they'll get the opportunity to vote as to whether they think we should defund these sanctuary cities, which are in violation of U.S. law, and are harboring these criminals and have seen their prime rates rise. And, you know, one of the things that is so important to note is you look at what happened in Minneapolis, and then you look at a city like Memphis, Tennessee. where the crime rate is down over 50% in the past 120 days, as we have had over 20 federal agencies there with the National Guard, the Tennessee Highway Patrol, and they have gotten this prime rate way down. They've made 6,500 arrests. They have taken over 1,500 weapons off the street, and they've recovered 148 missing children, and the mayor. and the police chief and a Democrat city elected, they have all worked with the federal agencies. And because of that, Memphis has the lowest crime rate it has had since 2000. And Marsha Blackburn, you just said it. Let me add another item. to compare to and then we can then compare it to what's happened in minneapolis where they resist where they make it very very hard on the uh... the ice agents washington dc is probably the safest it's ever been during your career in washington and again because we have had proper cooperation and they're able to get the result in minnesota not so easy because you have the governor you have the attorney general you have the mayor of Minneapolis all against the federal involvement. And so we see the difference. I thought this was also, it would be funny if it wasn't so serious. On the same day, in the same hour, the same Democrats in their 10 demands for this ICE funding fight to end, they want required visible ID. So they want required visible ID for our federal agents. But, Senator, can you explain why they don't want photo ID in order to vote?

1:21:36

You know, it is, it just makes no sense at all. They are wanting to docks federal law enforcement and force them to present an ID. They're also wanting to force them to go to a court and get a judicial order when there's already an order of deportation against these individuals that they are apprehending. So their objections make no sense. And you're so right about this. You have to take an ID with you to go to your child school, to go pick up a prescription at the pharmacy. You use IDs everywhere. Got to have it to board a plane. But they don't want you to have it to vote, and they are very much opposed to the Save America Act. And I will say this, the Democrats are truly on the wrong side of this issue. We have seen the polling on this. 80% of the American people think you should show an ID in order to cast a ballot. And I've seen reports about the Democrats requiring IDs for people to pick up tickets to political events and be admitted to those political events. But then they don't want them to take an ID to the poll. Republicans continue to say, let's make it easier to vote and harder to cheat. And the Democrats are easier to cheat. And remember in Georgia a few years ago when they said again this, they love this Jim, everything's Jim Crow 2.0, even though none of it is Jim Crow 2.0. What happened in Georgia with their appropriate election reforms, they had record voter turnout. So not only was it not Jim Crow 2.0, it was not voter suppression. They had a record turnout. But Marsha Blackburn, as you just said, they made it easier to vote, harder to cheat. That's exactly right. And people responded because it was easier to vote. And there's no objection to people showing an ID. And the fact that the Democrats continued to say, well, you know, it would disenfranchise people. Individuals that are receiving government benefits have to present an ID. Yeah. And like you named a few of them. You need an ID to get Sudafed. You need an ID to check into a hotel. And you also raised a very good point. You need photo ID to check into their major Democrat events. But again, with this fake out, they try to insult the American people's intelligence that somehow someone's not going to be able. We're in the course of natural events that we see going on. If anybody. is is handicapped in any way physically or otherwise an ID will be made available to them and you need an ID in basic societal just life so why do they make the voting like it's separate and apart because it's my feeling they want people who are not eligible to vote to be able to vote what else could it be

1:24:58

And it is, they continue to try to make it easier to cheat. Yeah. When you look at the millions of people that illegally entered the country under Joe Biden and the places that they... chose to go. Then they went to sanctuary cities. They went to blue areas. And then now what they're trying to do is give them the opportunity to basically be franchised into the benefits of American citizens. And one of those is casting a vote in our elections. Senator Marsha Blackburn visiting on Guy Benson. We know that about 80 some percent of the government was shut down recently, and it was short-lived. And I believe it was a Democrat fake out. They wanted to make it look like, hey, look, when you're reasonable, you rascally Republicans, when you're reasonable, we'll work with you. That was just a weekend when we got it back by Monday because I think they had it set on their sights on this vote. on DHS so they can pander to the radical, most radical, hard left portion of their wing, and they get away with a shutdown, and they get to blame Republicans for the reason the government is shut down. How do you like my theory? Well, and yes, remember, the last time they shut it down, it was because... They wanted to give health care to illegal aliens. Correct. So now this time, it's all about ICE and DHS funding. And I will add to your reasons. Bear in mind, ICE is about 9, 10% of DHS budget. And as you said in your intro, that funding is taken care of for the next several years. We did that in the working families tax cut, big beautiful bill. Right. But what we have to make certain we do is get the proper funding to FEMA. Because you've got states like Tennessee where FEMA is very active because we have had a generational ice storm. And we're now 15 days past that storm. But we have people that still do not have power. And they don't have water. So we have emergency assistance that is there. So why would you cut the assistance? on people when they've just come through this type storm. Yeah, it's true. It's shameful, and it's really inexcusable, and people have died during this cold streak. You're absolutely right. Even though the snow has stopped, the cold has not, and so people are still hurting very bad. Could you also explain that if they get away with shutting the government down for any length of time, significant length of time, like the record-setting one?

1:27:56

of the one before last last one was short the one before that was a record setter thank you democrats but that dramatically affects our economy our GDP doesn't it senator Well, yes, it does. And when you do a shutdown like this, we know that the last shutdown in actual outlays cost us $11 billion. That was the Chuck Schumer shutdown. Yeah. So there is a cost because you have to keep government services running. Now, when it comes to the GDP, it will hit the GDP by a percent, percent and a half because you have stalled. all of your government contracting and work for government, for people that maybe are civilian military. And the pay for them is restricted. Or people that are contracting for the federal government, they are not able to do their jobs and continue their work. Senator, I know we only have about two minutes, but let's try to do at least something of equality nature with this. Arctic Frost. For those in Guy Benson, Universe, you all know this is the code name for the FBI, the Department of Justice investigation that was led by Special Counsel Jack Smith. Marsha Blackburn, your thoughts about Arctic Frost. Well, tomorrow I will lead and chair the first of the Arctic Frost hearings that we and the Senate are going to do. My hearing will focus on the telecom executives from Verizon AT&T and T-NT Mobile, and we will ask them why they did or did not take certain actions that enabled Jack Smith to weaponize. the federal government against sitting U.S. senators as well as 400 conservative individuals and groups by going after their phone records, after bank records. We want to get to the bottom of this, so this federal government will never, ever be, so they're never going to do this to another individual. And this will be focusing on the phone records that they got. They say they only got tolling information. We want to make certain they didn't get emails, content of conversations, text messages, other components that may be on your device. It certainly violates your privacy. It violates the speech and debate clause also. Your committee work here is going to be very, very important. Great to visit with you, Senator, and good wishes with the next election as well. Take care. Thank you so much. You're welcome. Pleasure. That was Senator Marsha Blackburn visiting on Guy Benson. We'll be right back. Filling in for Guy Benson, it's Harry Hurley. Welcome back to Guy Benson with Christine Bill and Joel. I'm Harry Hurley filling in today for Guy Benson.

1:31:17

If you missed it, please catch the podcast at Guy Benson.com. If you heard what we just did a moment ago, it was a really good interview with United States Senator Marsha Blackburn. And I mean her content was the really good part of it. It was important at the level of the DHS funding debate. that looks like the democrats want to shut the government down so they can blame republicans for it and then we got in to the hearings they're going to be starting tomorrow and the importance of this investigation into code name arctic frost operation arctic frost you hear it called sometimes sometimes arctic frost investigation but arctic frost is the code name for years 22 2022 through 2025, the FBI and the Department of Justice led an investigation that they appointed a special counsel by the name of Jack Smith and you know all about him. And they were looking at only Republicans for some reason. Now, an investigation that's wide open, huge net, all that, you would think somewhere in there. there would be a profile other than a Republican. But it turns out that it was over 400 Republican individuals, Republican entities, Republican members of Congress, that they even did things that have never been done to members of Congress before. And that's going after their phone records. And they will tell you it's only some kind of metadata. And you can't know anything. Well, what do they want it for? If they don't know what it is, if it's nothing. then why do something? So I don't believe anything that they say. I believe that it was a total fishing expedition that they targeted for political purposes, only Republicans, and they were looking to damage and or end the career of Republicans and otherwise chill the atmosphere. Because you get an atmosphere going that, oh my gosh. Everybody you know is either under investigation or whispers that perhaps they're under investigation. So don't believe them. Do not believe them. For they do not tell the truth. Coming up next on Guy Benson, we will be visiting with your host, Guy Benson, so don't miss that. And before the end of the hour... The Super Bowl halftime entertainment, a roundtable discussion with Dylan, Joel, and myself. This is Guy Benson.

1:34:20

in for Guy Benson here's harry hurley welcome back to Guy Benson with christine dillon and joel i'm harry hurley filling in today for Guy Benson however earlier in the program we spoke to your host Guy Benson here's a part of our interview You have a gift that keeps on giving. So he is now under fire, as you know, for defending a knife-wielding suspect. over police officers. Isn't that a wonderful thing for a mayor to do, guy? Well, I mean, it's just so demoralizing already for a police force that I'm sure is bracing for impact and what's going to happen over the next four years under this guy. I mean, you know, I'm just coming back to the capital city from New York and having been there in the frigid, frigid temperatures. I mean, it is not an exaggeration that mounds of garbage bags just piling up for days. These are basic, like, services that people, I think, expect from their tax dollars and what have you. And you can't pin that back totally on a brand new mayor, but there's this. While speaking of collectivism, the trash is collecting on the streets not being collected during this period of first a weather incident and then a bunch of cold temperatures, that's going to get people bent out of shape. And while people are literally freezing to death in the streets, your health department is focused like a laser on the Middle East and, you know, Palestine and all that. It just seems completely... off base for what a local government ought to be doing at its very core level. And then, Harry, you mentioned this incident, and we had touched on it last week a little bit here on the show, but I really went off about it on TV last night. If you watch the video of this body cam, of the officer who was called to this scene of a domestic disturbance, and unfortunately there's a very violently mentally ill person at this apartment, at this home, wielding a knife. And the cop, I was actually keeping track of it, tallying on the air how many times.

1:37:15

You can say it's very sad and tragic that this person... was having a mental health crisis and has some sort of affliction. That's true. You can also make that point without kind of putting this victimhood status and bestowing that upon him while kind of by extension, at least the implication is that the cop did something wrong. Saying no family should have to go through this to the cop's family, if the cop would just let him stab him, right?

1:40:24

That goes to a worldview, that goes to an ideology, that goes to instincts that I don't think can be fixed, and this movie is not going to get better. This is not required because his voice is like the signature, but it is Guy Benson visiting on Guy Benson. Now, Guy. What Zohran Mamdani did, he showed everyone in New York City, every police officer, every citizen in New York City, every citizen around the country, he showed a window into his priorities. Scary, isn't it? Oh, yeah. And by the way, we've already seen a lot of NYPD looking for an exit ramp from that force. We've seen people taking early retirement, that kind of thing. And when you see that sort of mass demoralization in a police force... Unfortunately, the outcomes can be really bad. I mean, we've seen it in Minneapolis where, I mean, not only did the political leadership, the left-wingers in Minnesota, Minneapolis, not have the back of law enforcement just the opposite in 2020, so more than half a decade ago now, that police force is in some ways a shell of its former self. We've had our friend Jason Rance on this show any number of times out at Seattle Red. That police force has shrunk. considerably in recent years because a lot of these cops are like, listen, this is service, this is dangerous. I put my life on the line every day. I'm going to do that, take risks. and do this for what, for a political leadership that's going to sell me down the river at the first sign of trouble or will do so gleefully because they're, you know, they hate cops and are reflexively anti-law enforcement. Forget it and they'll go somewhere else. Yeah, Guy, this will actually escalate, as you know. You've spoken about it on your show many times. This will escalate, escalate what already has been happening, and that is police officers retiring before they otherwise would because they don't feel safe. That was part of our interview with Guy Benson for the full interview. Go to Guy Benson.com. Coming up next, it's the home stretch, Dylan, Joel, and yours truly will be talking about the Super Bowl 60 halftime entertainment. This is Guy Benson. Billing in for Guy Benson, it's Harry Hurley.

1:42:53

And now it's time for your favorite segment of the day. Home Stretch. It's basically the only segment I'm on. So I've declared it the audience's favorite segment. Guy Benson. Well, well, well, welcome back. It is Guy Benson with Christine Dillon and Joelle. Our topic is the Super Bowl half-time. And I'm going to confess I did not watch the network. Super Bowl traditional halftime show with Bad Bunny. So I should probably speak the least on this, although I am very conversant on what President Trump had to say about Bad Bunny calling it. I think the nicest thing he said was absolutely terrible. And that is a quote, end quote. So let's give Dylan, and we're going to also, it'll be the three of us, Joel. Let's give Dylan the opening comment. Did you endure? The Super Bowl halftime show, Dylan? I did. And I don't know how you other two will weigh in on it. I might be a little bit of a contrarian opinion here. But I will say my wife's family are all from Ecuador. And so we had all of them over to our apartment to watch the Super Bowl this year. And I actually really, really enjoyed the Bad Bunny halftime show. And, you know, his songs were entirely in Spanish, obviously. He's a Spanish artist. But, you know, I really, really liked it. I thought the show was a really great celebration of Puerto Rican culture. And, you know, it... It felt like it was just, it was a celebration of, of Spanish culture. And I know my family members that are Ecuadorian and our Spanish speakers, I speak a little bit of Spanish, but I'm not super, super fluent, but they just absolutely loved it. And they loved the ending. I think my, my main critique of the halftime show, honestly, was I wish he would have brought more people out. I thought that. Obviously, the Ricky Martin feature was a cool, like, fellow Puerto Rican artist. Shout out, and then also Lady Gaga joining him was pretty cool. I would have liked to have seen more features. And he wrapped his last song. My favorite song by Bad Bunny actually is debi at Armas Photos. And it is... I love that song, but he wrapped it super, super fast at the end. I know it's all super, it's super quick. They have to get in and out. I've actually been to a Super Bowl. So I got to see when I was there how fast they set up and tear down the halftime stage. And it's crazy. So I know they probably had to get him out of there. I was a big fan. I know not everybody was and not everybody likes Bad Bunny's politics. And that's fine. I think my personal opinion. is if we have to judge every single artist that we listen to based off of their politics, I think that a lot of people, especially people that lean conservatively, probably aren't going to listen to a lot of music or are going to have a very...

1:46:06

defined music taste, I would say. It's a really fair comment. And it's also what we criticize the other side of, that they do that kind of thing. Sure. Things they like, they say they don't like once they find out, God, if somebody likes President Trump, then they say, oh, I don't like that person anymore. Well, you did five seconds ago. Let me give a contrarian point of view from the president of the United States, Donald Trump. Quote, there is nothing inspirational about this mess of a halftime show. And watch. It will get great reviews from the fake news. media because they haven't got a clue of what's going on in the real world. And by the way, the NFL should immediately replace its ridiculous new kickoff rule. Could not agree more on that point. Make America great again, President Donald J. Trump. Joel, are you with... Dylan, or are you with President Trump? Ooh, you know, guys, listen, I will say from an artistic standpoint, I'm teaming up with Dylan on this one. I just thought it was a big celebration of Spanish culture. And as somebody who is Puerto Rican, I've said this on the show before. As someone who's actually Puerto Rican, it was just one big party. Now, look, I understand the viewpoints from some people who were against it, saying, oh, he's only going to perform in Spanish, blah, blah, blah, what's the point? I totally understand that, and I respect the opinion. But you have to admit, though, Harry, his music is pretty catchy. You could dance to it. You could vibe to it, as the kids say, you know? See, I'm opposed to him, but I didn't watch it, so I won't criticize the performance. And I can listen to artists that I don't agree with politically, but will honestly, objectively state they have talent. I don't want them if I'm at a concert. to be doing their politics at the concert i'm very opposed to that you pay a lot of money for these tickets and nobody should have to you know go through someone's political speeches like bruce springsteen and some of these other artists do uh... however there is a caveat with bad bunny did he not say not long before the super bowl asked him to be the half-time entertainment didn't he say he would never perform in america I think he did. I believe so. Yeah, I know he did. So it is fair to not like what he said there and not be thrilled that he's the Super Bowl entertainment. Because if you think about it. The NFL is the greatest show on turf. It's the biggest sport in the world. Some will say soccer, which they also call football, but it's the NFL. It's now worldly, and it doesn't get much bigger. So there are people that genuinely do not like that Bad Bunny was selected after he basically trashed America. Thoughts, comments. I mean, I think that's fair. And I think people have, you know, they have the right to criticize Bad Bunny for his politics. I think that's totally fine. I just, I think I'm of the opinion that, you know, I enjoyed the culture of it. I enjoyed the celebration of Puerto Rican culture. And even though I didn't understand every single word, and I don't know all of Bad Bunny's music, I'm really only familiar with his most recent album. But, you know, I think...

1:49:18

If you haven't heard it and if you haven't seen it, I highly recommend watching it. It's fair to critique the politics. Just, it's always fair to. critique the politics of whatever you're watching, right? Everybody's opened up to that with what he had said. It's not like he said it 100 years ago and he had a conversion over time where you evolve and things like that. He said it like five minutes ago and then boom, he's here. So that has a lot of people not thinking too well about that. Here's what I love about music, though, because I absolutely agree. with the point that you just made, Dylan, you don't have to be able to understand. I mean, think about American music that's played around the world, and folks don't know what it, they don't know English. They can sing the songs because they've learned. I listened once to a concert that was in Hong Kong, and they didn't speak much English in that crowd, but they knew the words, the American words, to the performer songs. So music is beautiful like that. uh despicito i mean there's a lot of different songs that are really cool have a great vibe you don't have to understand if you don't know spanish if you don't know whatever language how about beautiful songs that andrea bocelli sings in italian you don't have to know uh the words to enjoy it i think bad bunny bought just a little bit of bad sort of karma with him That's what I think happened here. And then, of course, you have the alternate show that I think, depending on how the NFL continues to choose their halftime selection, I think you're going to see this alternate show. Closing comments, let's go around the horn, Joelle, and we'll give you the final word, Dylan, about 30 seconds each. I mean, again, I'm just going to reiterate what Dylan said. I just saw it as a big celebration of the Spanish culture. I do understand some of the political opinions on the performance. I completely understand and respect it. But again, just a big celebration. Dylan, your Spanish pronunciation of the song was better than my Spanish. It was terrific. What you did, Dylan. I noted that as well. Wow. It puts my Spanish to shame. Yeah, you know, I've been practicing and I've been trying to learn a little bit of Spanish, you know, to be able to converse with that side of my family a little bit more comfortably and their native tongue. But, you know, I think... Music, and I think you're right, Harry, music is for everyone. Yeah. You know, it crosses borders. It crosses languages. So leave the politics out of it, like the award shows that they ruin because they can't help themselves, ice out, and then they say all these terrible things. Did Bad Bunny do anything political during his set? No. That's good. I don't believe it's about.

1:52:11

It was all about unity. He ended. There was a billboard behind him at the end of the performance that said the only thing more powerful than hate is love. And that's just about as political as it got. And that's it. It was pretty apolitical. Well, that is on a happy note. That's a good way to end the happy hour. Thanks for listening to Guy Benson.
