You and I were having just yesterday on your show. And you know that I'm fired up about this story. I'm really upset about what's happened in Chicago. There's a few updates that I want to bring to this audience and get your reaction. Number one, we did know yesterday that the suspect, the suspected murderer. of Sheridan Gorman in Chicago, this 18-year-old college freshman, is an illegal immigrant with a criminal history. We also knew that he was not able to show up for his first court appearance after this murder because he's being treated presumably on taxpayer dime for his tuberculosis at a local hospital. There's another angle to this, another twist that I had not seen. Paul Morrow actually alerted me to this. There's another crime that this guy had committed in Chicago, which was not showing up for his court date after the previous crime he had committed in Chicago. And they cut him loose, of course. And that, of course, was also after the original crime in the United States of crossing the border illegally. So that would be a list of three crimes before this man allegedly graduated to murder. Thrill kill murder. Prosecutors say that he shot this poor girl in the back. as she fled from him. That is what the authorities are saying in the city of Chicago. J.B. Pritzker, the governor of Illinois, who was speaking out early and often about every development in Minneapolis, for example, went to Minneapolis to lay a wreath and have a photo op.

He had not one word to say about this murder in his own state for more than four days until he finally got shamed into it. Here's a clip that we played yesterday of the governor trying to spin this thing and blame Trump and others. Cut 29. Well, this has been a terrible tragedy, and I know that the Gorman family has suffered mightily. I agree there have been real failures. Those failures, of course, extend. beyond the borders of illinois that's their national failures a failure to have comprehensive immigration reform, a failure of the president to follow his own edict to go after the worst of the worst. And in my view, we have a lot of work that we need to continue to do, but it is the job of the federal government to go after immigration enforcement, and it is the job of our local and state law enforcement to prosecute or to catch violent criminals and prosecute them, and we should continue. continue to do that both on the state level and the national level. Will Kane, a few things jump out at me in that soundbite. What jumps out at you? Said very well by you yesterday on Will Cain Country Guy, this is not a failure of policy. This is a success of policy. I think you laid that out very, very well to me yesterday on Will Cain Country. This is a product of soft on crime, sanctuary city policies, an open border policy under the previous president. And quite honestly, really a half century's worth of insanity when it comes to our immigration policy. What we got in Chicago is what the system was designed to produce. under men like J.B. Pritzker. So it's not a failure. It's a success of policy, a policy designed by Democrats. I thought you laid that out really well yesterday again, which someone can get to Spotify and Apple on Will Kane country. But insanity is the word that keeps coming back to me. We have... I think an increasingly obvious insane conversation about immigration policy at large. So what sticks out to me in that J.J.B. Pritzker clip is his usage of the term comprehensive immigration reform. So that is such an interesting phrase that Democrats use over and over again. And of course it was their escape hatch guy on ever enforcing the border. Well, we can't enforce the border until we get comprehensive immigration reform. And that always meant for them devising some pathway to citizenship for illegals. But again, something you and I discussed yesterday. Okay. I accept your terms. Let's have comprehensive immigration reform. That to me will include obviously the deportation of illegal immigrants, criminal, violent or not, the deportation of illegal immigrants. It'll be reformed to the legal immigration system, which went awry in 1965 with the Immigration Nationality Act, Hart Sellers, and a much more strict policy of controlling the people that come into this country under a simple, simple, simple question, a simple, simple banner. Do you love and want to be an American?

And if that's your question, if that's your barometer, you won't accept people from, you'll accept some very strict. quotas or numbers or filters of people from certain cultures from certain parts of the world. But I don't care if you're an Englishman and you don't love America. Don't come to America. I want to go into the policies of denaturalization. I want to talk about really the people in this country who are not born here who become Americans ensuring that they love America. So if J.B. Pristler wants to talk about comprehensive regression reform, those are the terms on which I will discuss this comprehensively. He does not. Spoiler alert, they won't. They would never have that conversation. They won't even support the deportation of criminal illegal immigrants. They won't even start there. Here's the thing that I want to just ruminate on for a moment, and I touched on it briefly with Paul Morrow yesterday. He said, he uses like this passive voice, there have been failures. And then when he starts specifying the failures, it's not his. It's outside Illinois. It's the president. who fails, quote, to follow his own edict to go after the worst of the worst. Okay, I want to focus on this. The alleged murderer in this case, an illegal immigrant, with a criminal history. was not under J.B. Pritzker's definition, the worst of the worst, until he pulled the trigger. He was in the country illegally. He committed multiple crimes in this country, but they were nonviolent crimes. So under the standard the Democrats pretend to care about worst of the worst and say, oh, Trump isn't actually doing that, they would have, and in fact did protect this exact guy until he became the worst of the worst. I don't understand how you can fault Trump. for not going after the worst of the worst, implying like this guy shouldn't have been here, when your policies let him in and let him stay. And he graduated to worst of the worst policy, worst of the worst status after you let him go repeatedly. That makes me think two things. First of all, you stood. J.V. J.B. Pritzker, at least symbolically, and many people stood literally in the way of ICE in Minnesota of deporting the worst of the worst, of arresting the worst, of the worst. So don't act now like the president is failing to his job while you lay your body on the line in front of him to ensure that he cannot do his job. But you make such a great point. And this also applies back to the conversation that I'm interested in having about legal immigration. It's just so hard. to vet who will become a problem. You know, four naturalized citizens in this country committed, in your description yesterday, jihadi terror attacks in a two-week period. They were all naturalized citizens. Well, none of them came under, you know, the banner of ISIS when they became Americans. That happened later. And one of them actually was convicted of it, and we still let him stay. Wait, but he didn't come in under that banner. No. He actually...

Flew that banner once he got to America. You're right. Convicted served time and we didn't pull his citizenship away. Correct. But it's so hard to vet out. quote unquote the good from the bad when you're not doing this with any type of real cognizant critical effort and we're just not an immigration the easy part is illegal immigration well i say it should be i say that it's the it's the easy part for most of americans for most of americans the harder part is where i'm trying to push this conversation however your point is very well taken I said this earlier today on Will King Country. If this immigration conversation is an A to Z conversation, I'm trying to get us to T. And we're stuck on A and B. We are stuck with Democrat freak out, a sizable percentage of the American population who theoretically supports deportations but doesn't like to see the nasty work of it. And some Republicans who won't get on board with simply deporting illegal immigrants. One more thing that J.B. Pritzker said in that clip that we played, quote, it is the job of the federal government to go after immigration enforcement. Yeah. Correct. Which he opposes. Yes. And his policies interfere with and obstruct that job. So he's wagging his finger at the feds to do their job on enforcement, which he actively opposes. He's assigned legislation to that effect, crazy pieces of legislation. And then he's like, well, that's not my job. That's their job. It is just shameless. I almost. I almost would have preferred, and I wrote this in my column today at the Washington Examiner, if this is what he's going to say after four and a half days of silence, maybe he should have just kept his mouth shut after all. Because saying something and it's this is worse than saying nothing. Not to make this sound like a plug continuously for Will King Country, but you said this as well yesterday, guy. When we have these conversations, you are very cognizant. And I am cognizant as well of the fact that there is a percentage of people out there, perhaps listening to Guy Benson, who think this is partisan or this is maybe radical or this is crazy. And this is imminently sensible. It really is a moderate position. J.B. Pritzker is the governor of what? The third or fourth largest state in the country? It keeps shrinking. It does keep shrinking while Texas and Florida keep growing. So a top 10 state. And I think for most of America, they don't consider him in the wing of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. And yet the position that he is espousing. Indistinguishable. It's crazy and radical. Correct. Will, we only have a few minutes left. I want to quickly get your reaction in two minutes to this DHS shutdown. It's a related story, actually. We'll be talking about it throughout the program. The Republicans offered the Democrats nearly all of what they've been demanding. Fine. fund all of DHS except for ICE. We can do that separately in a partisan bill later. This is what you've been demanding after 40 days of your shutdown. And the Democrats have said no. Yeah. That's their answer. No, they want now reforms to ICE.

They suggested two days ago on most of the Sunday shows, well, we have offered to fund everything except for ICE and Republicans won't accept that proposal. Well, Republicans accepted that proposal. And Democrats go, no, now we also want you to reform ICE as part of this funding package. Cripple ICE, really. And they won't admit that this is what's happened. They'll continue to call this a Republican shutdown. And this blame game is so tiresome to me. But isn't this a very simple way to also understand it? What would the normal course of business be? The normal course of business be, to fund them all. That would be normal, right? Yes. Democrats are asking for the change. They're asking for an alternative to the normal, which would be to... As the minority party... To cut out ice from this. So by that very definition, if you're asking for a deviation from the normal, you're the one responsible for the shutdown. Isn't that simple and isn't that how it makes sense? Correct. And also, there have been multiple votes to fund it, and they have voted no every time and filibustered it. I'm Guy Benson, welcome back. What you're about to hear sickens me. So much about this story sickens me. Happens to be a Chicago story in our WLS audience, but it is a national story and a familiar pattern, unfortunately. You're giving you the details of this horrible murder of this 18-year-old woman, college freshman, Sheridan Gorman, her school. Loyola University, the student newspaper has published a piece about her murder. And they have published a groveling apology as an editor's note to the story. The college fix reported this. Jonathan Turley highlighted it. The editor's note, apparently, is almost as long as the original article itself about the murder of their classmate. This grovelling, prostrated apology is for referring to the accused murderer accurately as an illegal immigrant instead of a Rogers Park resident. So they reported about the killing of their classmate. They accurately conveyed in that reporting, this is the student newspaper, that the man in custody is in the country illegally. And the left-wing activists on campus got so angry at them that they started immediately bullying their friends in the newsroom who are also fellow left-wing activists. Look at the crime, the thought crime that you've committed. You better make this right. And so they laid down. in front of the community and begged for forgiveness for using the words illegal immigrant, correctly, by the way, in an apology that was almost as long as the initial news story. They declared no human's existence is illegal, and we quickly changed our wording to reflect that. As Turley points out, the reference illegal is to his status in the country, not his existence. But they are clearly much more upset about the accurate use of words to describe the killer than they are about the killing. And they talked about how much harm, how much harm was being perpetuated by using a term like illegal immigrant. Guys, it is not funny. It's not like, oh, these kids, wait till they get to the real world. Nope, we are way past that. They are reshaping the real world. If you think journalism is bad now, and it is bad, wait until this generation of quote-unquote journalists. are running all the newsrooms in the country. It is bleak. Student newsrooms are captured by this type of ideology, which often is anti-information, anti-fax ideology, which is not compatible with actual journalism. And you have...

activists ruthlessly enforcing their rules, their pieties, their language that's allowed and not allowed on the journalists. And the journalist, the student journalists say, oh, yes, of course, straightaway, thank you, sir, or ma'am, or Zer, or whatever it is. We're so sorry. I remember this at my own alma, my own alma mater, Northwestern, the Daily Northwestern newspaper a couple years ago, there was a violent attack at a public speech on campus. Student journalists took photos of the attackers at a public event, and the activist demanded that they take down the photos and not name the people who were quoted on the record in the story because they didn't want to get in trouble. And the journalist said, oh, okay, right away, we're so sorry. If this is the future of journalism, it is extremely uncompassionate. It is also anti-truth and anti-information, dark stuff. Kim, great to have you here as always. Hi, Guy. It's great to be here. All right. So we talked about this a tiny bit earlier with Will Kane. We will talk about it, I'm sure, next hour with Senator Joni Ernst. But here we are. I felt like yesterday there was a real opportunity that the Democrats' blockade of DHS funding was finally going to end at nearly 40 days because the Republicans, at least in my view, had kind of caved to the Democrats to some extent on what they've been asking for because the Democrats made it clear. They're just going to keep this going forever. They seem totally unbothered by all the things and all the harm that they're causing. And so the Republicans were like, fine. We will fund. All of DHS, except for ICE like you've been insisting on. And we'll try to fund ICE through reconciliation separately on a party line bill. So here you go. And as of today, the answer from Chuck Schumer and the Democrats is, we see your offer of what we wanted and we respond with no. Kim, they're rejecting what they've been asking for here on day 40 of their own shutdown. And they now, I guess, are feeling pretty good about themselves. They want more. Yeah, I mean, even I am really struck guy by the depths of the obstruction here and the obstinacy. And what I can only assume is blind field to a progressive base that wants them to keep DHS shut down. I mean, the new excuses that they are coming up with are remarkable. I saw.

One Democratic senator today say, well, you know, it's not enough that they're not going to fund the enforcement and deportation pieces of ICE because they've turned all of DHS into an enforcement mechanism. And so we can't give any money to any of DHS, apparently. And then I saw another Democrat complaining, well, you're not giving us any of the reforms you promised to ICE. Well, no, if you're not going to fund it at all, that was supposed to be the tradeoff to open all of DHS, was you want some changes to the way ICE operates. Okay, we'll do that, but you've got to give the money to open the department back up again, including ICE. They're giving them exactly what they want. We'll fund all of DHS. How many bills have we have from Democrats in recent weeks asking for just this? Fund all of DHS except for ICE, but now they've moved the goalposts. Why? I mean, like... taking yes for an answer, taking the win. We stared down Donald Trump and we got DHS open and we were able to get these lines at airports to come down and fund DHS without giving a penny more to ICE. We've won. That's the story that they could happily, I assume, have told. But instead they're like, nah, actually, goal post shift. Why? It's the election. I truly believe that. I mean, this is, if you are Democratic progressive, all you care about is making your progressive base happy. And right now, the only thing Democrats think will satisfy that progressive base is to show that you are in opposition and fighting against Donald Trump. So we had that entire last fall. It was over. The Obamacare enhanced premiums, and we had the huge government shut down then. This time, a slightly smaller yet extremely important hostage that they have taken in DHS, and they just seem unwilling to allow government to function the way it's supposed to. And can I just throw in how scary? The Department of Homeland Security, while we are on a war footing with Iran, they are keeping things like... the cybersecurity and infrastructure security agency shut down. The Coast Guard, I mean, we've talked about this, but it's really remarkable. Chad Pergrim, our colleague here at Fox, reported that a senior House Republican member was asked earlier on background what it would actually take to break the funding impasse from Democrats. And the answer came back, quote, a couple more shootings or the lines to get even longer. He's referring, Kim in that first part, he or she, is referring to the four jihadist attacks on the homeland during this homeland security shutdown. And my question is, and again, I don't want to sound like too frenzied or shrill about this, but if four jihadist attacks, including two that were successfully deadly,

have not caused the Democrats to even waver one bit. I'm genuinely asking why would a fifth or sixth jihadist attack on the homeland change anything? Yeah. I mean, this has been, I think, the biggest change I've seen in the Democratic Party in all my years of covering Washington, because it used to be the case, and you know this as well, that we played silly partisan politics on a lot of silly domestic issues. But there remained a sense of grown-upness, of seriousness when it came to matters of national security, of homeland security, of intelligence matters, the intelligence committee. You know, that was where you found the grown-ups in the room. That is no longer the case in the Democratic Party. They think all of this is just partisan football. They're not being serious about this. And, you know, you mentioned those domestic attacks. ISIS-inspired, but we also just had one of the largest cyber attacks on a private entity ever by an Iranian-backed hacker group. And again, the agency that we have that helps to protect our cybersecurity and physical infrastructure is based within the Department of Homeland Security and is shut down. The thing, Kim, and this is where I start getting extra cynical, I actually believe a lot of these Democrats absolutely would not care if there's another deadly terrorist attack. They don't care. If it's not them getting blown up or shot or someone that they love, it's just the cost of doing business. And if Americans need to die, they need to die because they've got more important things to do in Washington, D.C. And I think they have that clear demonstrated position because in their mind, If God forbid that were to happen, they will do what they always do and say Donald Trump's the president and this happened on his watch. They will take no ownership or accountability for what they've done to weaken the Homeland Security Agency by shutting it down at a time like this. And they'll blame Trump and they will expect their friends, minions, collaborators in the so-called news media. to run that story. Republicans run Washington, and therefore it is their fault. The Democrats say, dance monkeys, dance, and the journalists say, okay, we're dancing. What more do you want? That's the cynical view, but I think there's a lot of truth to it. Well, I think there's reason to be cynical, and there is certainly a human element missing from all of this. I mean, I not long ago dug up some quotes from... Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer probably from about nine or ten years ago in which they took part in a three Iran rally, and they were sending their wishes to the people of Iran to be released from the horrific regime that stones women to death and essentially, you know, treat has no human rights whatsoever. That used to be the Democratic Party. They used at least to care about things like that. Now look at the response in general to what's going on Iran. Like they could care less. that, you know, we are neutralizing a horrific, terrible enemy. And then I think that that is the same hereback, unfortunately, with regard to the health of the domestic population. You just met, since you brought this up, there was a clip yesterday, I believe it was yesterday morning. Chuck Schumer went on another network, and one of the hosts, Joe Scarborough.

asked him like and he was getting kind of fed up with Chuck Schumer because Chuck Schumer kept dodging on this and it was kind of a yes or no question do you think it is a setting everything else aside do you think it is a good thing that the u.s military and the israelis are hugely degrading the military capabilities of the Iranian regime. Yes or no? And Chuck Schumer would not answer it. He said it's a premature question. We don't know what's going to come next. And Scarborough is like, no, no, you can answer the question. I'm not saying that everything's perfect or everything, you know, we need a crystal ball into the future. We're just saying in the moment what we are doing affirmatively to their missile program, to their nuclear program, to their evil leadership. Is that at least good? And Chuck Schumer would not say yes. I did not realize he was a big free Iran guy, not that long ago. I think talk is cheap, right? If they feel like saying free Iran is good for their politics and Chuck Schumer was supposedly very pro-Israel for his career, this would be an easy answer. Of course, this is a good thing that we're doing, despite some of the concerns that I still have and the president needs to articulate an exit strategy and the final goals here. Like there are ways to answer that, but Chuck Schumer, I think, fears. that an answer of, yes, it is good that we're doing this, will so infuriate his pro-Iranian regime base de facto, because it trumps against them, so therefore it, he cannot bring himself to say the words. And I just don't know how you can live with yourself, honestly. If you have given your career to an issue like supporting Israel, and now we are getting rid of an existential threat to the Jewish state and to the United States of America, On behalf of an Iranian population that supports our efforts, by the way, because of all the brutality that you mentioned, Kim, and then when someone is finally doing that thing that you have paid lip service to for decades and for your internal polls and keeping control of your little caucus and hanging on to your title, you decide that you can't even say that's a good thing? What a soulless pathetic performance. Yeah, this is the same Chuck Schumer. I would note that as recently as the end of Barack Obama's term when he was negotiating that horrible deal with Iran on their nuclear weapons where we were going to give them cash to keep doing exactly what they were doing, Chuck Schumer was among those senators. There were a number of Democratic senators that held out for a number of weeks and did not pledge their support because they said it did not go far enough. that we were not doing enough that, in fact, it was a bad deal, and that we were not treating the Iranian threat seriously. That's how much things have changed in the Democratic Party in a space of under a decade. You don't have a base that is implacably opposed to Israel. We just need to be clear about that. A lot of this is also because of that. Oh, yeah. This is reflexive hatred of Israel.

which by definition, therefore, apparently means that you need to be pro Hamas and pro the Palestinian cause and pro the Iranian cause, which is just nuts to me, by the way. And then you can, and then, yes, you can throw away your entire career, your entire history of acting. somewhat grown up on foreign policy things just because you are scared of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez primaring you in a future Senate race. Yeah. It's really shallow. Yeah. I might like look around and look at my friends and I party and say, you know, is this something I want to be a part of? And I guess the need for power. This guy, how old is he? 70 something, 80 something? Like you can't just hang it up and say, you know what? I don't want these people anymore and they don't want me. I'm not throwing. All of my beliefs on this stuff under the bus for a few more years, maybe, of this title. But that's apparently the number one priority that Chuck Schumer has, which is why we have the shutdown, by the way. DHS shutdown is totally Chuck Schumer being afraid of losing his leader position. I think that that's... He almost had a mutiny when he agreed to fund the government at a previous near shutdown. He almost lost his title. And he said, I'm not going to make that same mistake. Again, we're doing these shutdowns. And here we are. By the way, last point on this, Kim, you're talking about the way the Democrats have shifted. The Obama bros, right? These communications guys and podcasters. Very influential within Democratic politics. One of them is a guy named Ben Rhodes, who is Barack Obama's BFF on foreign policy, so anti-Israel that he was nicknamed by his own colleagues in the Obama administration. He was nicknamed Hamas. Ben Rhodes' nickname was Hamas. And that guy, Hamas, has now said that a new litmus test of purity within the Democrat Party needs to be opposing. what the U.S. and Israel and the Arab world, by the way, are doing to take away Iran's nuclear threat and missiles. And he said if Democrats are not vocally in favor, basically, of the Iranian regime position, then Democrats need to primary these people and throw them out of office. The new litmus test is going to the mat for the mullahs, according to... Ben Rhodes, aka Hamas, on like a mainstream now Democrat podcast that has a ton of traction in audience. Yeah, it's remarkable. And I think the thing that worries me most about this, though, guy, is that when you don't have leaders, look, there's always been a reflexive anti-Israel element within the Democratic Party, right? And the guard against that were the grownups, I mentioned. The people who stood up and said, no, this is actually good principle, but also good politics for us to stand in solidarity with our one Democratic ally and an incredibly important nation in the region. And once you have guys like that abandoning it, and then you have these activist groups saying that this has to be the new litmus test.

The fear is that the entire party becomes inculcated with that and that you begin to kind of weaken more broadly across the population the long time support for Israel, which is why not to turn this back around, but it's why I think it's so incredibly important that the president and his team be articulating. The strategy here, the importance of Israel, the gains and the goals, and bringing the public more along on this, to put the Democrats on the back foot instead of looking. Yeah, on Iran. Yep, I 100% agree. And a moment ago, you said the fear is this is what's happening to the Democratic Party. I don't think it's a fear. I think it is. absolutely here. It is a reality, and I think it is going to get worse before it ever gets better, if it ever gets better. I'm not in a terribly sanguine mood on the show today in this first hour for various reasons, but I think the universe is giving me some reasons to be very, very concerned on a whole host of fronts, some of which we've discussed here with our friend, our guest, Kim Strassel, the Wall Street Journal, and Fox News. By the way, just a little dash of political reality in all of this, too, because I find the Democrats' behavior absolutely indefensible and reprehensible. sickening in some cases that we've been talking about, we'll continue to talk about. Meanwhile, there were some special elections down in Florida, barely changed the huge Republican majorities in both chambers, by the way. But there was a move toward the Democrats, including in some Republican leaning districts that Trump had carried, for example, one of them by double digits, where Mara Lago is. That one flipped narrowly, but it flipped. And you have pretty Republican electorates, but the Democrats turning out in huge numbers and the independents siding with them. And so we have now seen this, and you can come up with all the caveats, but what about this? What about that? And I'm open to all of that. But, but in its totality, if you look at the Democrat overperformances in special elections since 2024, All the warning signs of a blue wave are there, all of them. And the fact that the economy has not gotten appreciably better and in some cases seems to be getting softer, that is an environment coupled with some of these outcomes that we've seen in special elections that makes me believe that not only is the House very likely gone in November, the Senate is absolutely not a slam dunk to hold for the Republicans either. So the Democrats are misbehaving and they feel like they are being rewarded for it, which I think explains some of their tactics and their decisions and their rhetoric. A couple immigration related stories that I just want to touch on here. Starting with this, you may have seen the video. In fact, I just saw we have the four box here in the studio where we have Fox News, Fox Business, CNN, and MS Now. And MS now was playing the clip. It's gone viral. of a woman being arrested or detained by ICE officers at San Francisco's airport. And I didn't have the sound on. I wonder if the fine journalists over at MS Now informed their audience of the actual context of the viral clip. Here's how the New York Times described it. A viral video showed ICE agents detaining a woman at SFO on Sunday. Documents obtained by the New York Times show TSA officials scanning passenger list tipped off ice. She was planning to fly to Miami. The woman has no criminal history. From that description, you would have no idea, many of you probably suspect, but they didn't write it down. They did not report it because this is anti-information, anti-journalism. The woman who is detained. was detained because she is an illegal immigrant. She had a standing final order of deportation against her, dating back to 2019. She did not show up for her for her mandatory appearances in court. And then she tried to flee. Thus, the public spectacle of her arrest. By the way, this happened before ICE was deployed to airports. This was ICE just doing its job. And yes, there is a job that they have to do. We have laws that have to be followed. And if you don't follow them, things happen to you. The New York Times might not tell its audience or bury the fact that this woman was an illegal immigrant. They instead said, oh, she has no criminal history. Well, she does. Because she's an illegal immigrant. And she didn't show up in court as required. So those are multiple illegal acts, actually, New York Times. You're not allowed to be here under those circumstances. You're not allowed to come here. You're not allowed to stay. She got her due process. She was ordered out of the country. She refused to leave or show up in court. And then she was like, oh, I want to take a trip to Miami. No.

You don't get to do that. You don't get to just travel freely around our country as an illegal immigrant with a final order of deportation order lodged against you from a judge after due process. You don't get to do that. ICE has a job to do. They focus mostly on criminal illegal immigrants. But people like this with standing deportation orders against them, final orders of removal, they do not get a magical pass. Because the Democrats and whomever decide that those are special illegal immigrants and their crimes don't really count. No. And the tell, again, is that... The viral content, the tweets, the posts on TikTok, that kind of thing, either downplayed or just completely omitted the fact that she was an illegal immigrant with the final deportation order against him. As I keep saying, either our laws matter or they don't, and either due process matters or it doesn't. They scream and they cry, due process, due process, when they think it might help an illegal immigrant stay. But when due process will not help an illegal immigrant stay, then they don't care about due process anymore. It is just an agenda in favor of illegal immigration and illegal immigrants. And I am sick of it if you can't already tell. One more story. It's a doozy. Here in New York City, the home of Alvin Bragg and Letitia James and Zohran Mamdani. A trans illegal immigrant convicted of raping a 14-year-old inside a bathroom at a bodega here in New York City. So this person is both trans and an illegal immigrant. And... raped a child. Would you like to guess what this person, I'm not sure what the pronouns are, would you like to guess what the sentence is for this person for the rape of a child here in New York City? Six months, including time served. This person is scheduled to be released. God knows if they'll be handed over to ICE. In Zohran Mamdani's New York, I doubt it. Sanctuary City, sanctuary mayor. This person is scheduled to be released from behind bars April 27th, like a month from now. Having spent five months behind bars over the course of this case playing out in which he slash she raped a kid. Six months, including time served. Tricia McLaughlin, formerly at DHS, she's been on this show. She tweets on April 27th, this rapist will go free after spending six months in jail for stalking, attacking, and raping a 14-year-old boy in a Manhattan bodega. So that would be the jurisdiction of Alvin Bragg.

Never mind that this illegal alien from Columbia was already wanted in Massachusetts on robbery, prostitution, and weapons charges. The boy's life will never be the same, and this guy gets six months total societal decay. Alvin Bragg is much too busy trying to dream up new ways to prosecute political enemies than to actually keep dangerous child rapists in prison. And by the way, I did not know the detail until Trisha McLaughlin tweeted it that this person was also wanted in another state for other crimes, including robbery and weapons charges. It's just a spree, a crime spree. And the consequences seem to be nothing or close to nothing. And I'm just going to say it. If this were an American citizen. a cisgender straight American citizen who did this rape, the leniency would not be to this extent. This is a special protected class privileged person, the privileged being trans and illegal immigrant in a left wing jurisdiction run by lunatic leftists. You want to come do kid rapes? If you're a trans person and an illegal immigrant, you are very likely to get a very weak sentence in a lot of these places. Congratulations on all the progress. I'm Guy Benson. We are back. I want to play some sound from a press conference in Richmond, Virginia. This was yesterday. So much of the so-called news media doesn't want to cover this, so they're not covering it. Right? Many Democrats in Virginia want to avoid this story like plague, just like we're seeing from Democrats in Illinois on another very similar story. This involves the horrible... totally preventable murder of a woman named Stephanie Minter. She was 41. She was at a bus stop in Fairfax County, Virginia, and she was stabbed to death by an illegal immigrant with a very long criminal rap sheet, including a rape charge. 40 some odd charges against this guy. He was so dangerous that the police locally begged the prosecutor. In that office, Steve Descano, left wing George Soros funded guy, an anti-prosecution prosecutor, a pro-criminal prosecutor. That's who the district attorney is in Fairfax County, very, very blue place. And the result is this sort of thing. They begged him in writing the police. Do not release this man. It is a matter of time before he maims or kills someone. They implored him to keep this dangerous, criminal, violent, illegal immigrant behind bars. But of course, Descano did not. His office released this guy. He was back out on the street. Dozens of charges deep. They had dropped the most serious charges. That's what they like to do. Or give insanity pleas is anything but really putting people away forever. They don't like that sort of thing. They're kind of like criminal defense attorneys, but in the role of the prosecutor. That's what you get with these Soros type figures. So those pleas went unheeded. Back out he went. And sure enough, he did exactly what the police predicted he would. He murdered this woman in cold blood. And the governor, Abigail Spanberger, more on her later, by the way, in the show. Mary Catherine Hamm will be here. Her office is still saying that they would not honor. an iced detainer on this man. Still, after he allegedly butchered a woman at a bus stop after the long criminal history that I just explicated. So the grieving, grief-stricken, heartbroken mother. of this woman, of the victim, held a press conference in Richmond, hoping that someone might care. The press conference also entailed and featured Jason Miaras, who was until just a few months ago, the attorney general, the Republican attorney general in Virginia. He was the guy who lost by six points to the Democrat who had said openly that he wanted to murder. a Republican in the legislature with his children, wanted to murder the kids too? That's the guy who won. That's the new attorney general, Democrat, in Virginia. The man he replaced, Jason Miaras, was there caring for this victim's family because they are like persona non grata not to be spoken of by the current Democrat regime because it's very just inconvenient for them that this woman got murdered.

under their policies. Policies, by the way, that Abigail Spanberger has now expanded statewide. One reporter who did show up, I call him the only reporter in Virginia, Nick Minnock, he sets the stage here in cut 14. I'm sure I'm inter Stephanie's mom. And I miss her so much. Hey, I'm Nick Monaco with 7 News. I'm outside the Capitol in Richmond because this is where Cheryl Mentor, the mother of Stephanie Mentor, held a press conference with former Virginia Attorney General Jason Mierrez. Stephanie Mentor was murdered at a bus stop in Fairfax County, allegedly by an illegal immigrant who has a lengthy criminal history. This is the man. Fairfax County police warned Commonwealth's attorney Steve Descano office about. on how dangerous he was, but Steve Descano office repeatedly let him back out into the community. Today, the mother of Stephanie Mentor demanded that Governor Abigail Spanberger veto a bill that is on her desk that would effectively ban local police and sheriffs from working with ICE, which is a policy Fairfax County has. Sanctuary policy. That's the sanctuary policy in Fairfax. The Democrats got right to it with their new majorities and governors saying, let's expand sanctuary to the whole state. Let's obstruct and inhibit the work of ICE when it comes to deporting people like this guy after dozens of charges and now a murder. This mother of the victim is begging the governor not to expand. This deadly, reckless, lawless, awful policy. Cut 15. Change. Change has got to happen with this. It's just got to. I don't know where all these political people are, I mean, they stop serving citizens. They've just stopped. I'm not quite sure how they get voted in. If they're doing this to all the people, how do they keep going? I mean, it's got to stop. So the fact is, I think a lot of these Democrats absolutely do prioritize illegal immigrants over American citizens. Their policies show us that. It's demonstrable. And a lot of their voters agree with them. I think a lot of other voters have no idea that this stuff is happening. And their friends in the media generally do their best to make sure that those voters also don't know about it. It's anti-journalism, which is why this did not make nearly the splash that it would if it were a grieving mother attacking Republicans in their policies for some reason. And I mean, it's just so transparent why that is the case. Cut 16, this went on. Tonight, the mentor family is calling on Governor Abigail Spanberger to reverse her executive order that blocked state law enforcement from working with ICE, which was one of the first things Abigail Spanberger did after taking office. Her first?

goal in office was not to protect Virginia citizens. It was protect convicted felons sitting in Virginia prisons and not to notify federal immigration authorities of where they were so they could leave this country. Miores and Cheryl are also calling on the governor to veto a bill sitting on her desk that would ban local police and sheriffs from cooperating with ICE. Right now it's their discretion. She wants to take away that discretion. So the sheriff of Bedford. or the sheriff of Gailax or Grayson or Washington County have to adopt the same criminal first victim last mindset that is adopted in Fairfax that has harmed so many innocent Virginians. You agree with them? Yes, 100%. That's the mother of the victim agreeing. This is the policy that Democrats not only implemented in Northern Virginia, now they want to impose it upon the entire state. With this mother tearfully pleading with them not to do this, not to expand the dangerous lethal policy, is there any response from the governor or her office? The governor in the office, by the way, have said almost nothing about this case. I don't think Governor Abigail Spanberger has mentioned it herself ever. Other Democrats have literally run away from this reporter asking them questions. Others actually tried to blame the murder on ICE, which is next level crazy. Any word, anything to say to this mom, governor. Cut 18. I reached out to Governor Abigail Spanberger's office and asked, is she going to sign or veto the bill on her desk that would prevent local law enforcement from working with ICE? And is she going to reverse her day one executive order? She has not responded. Reporting in Richmond, Nick Monarch, 7 News. She has not responded. Of course she hasn't. She's too busy trying to rig the elections in the state with this partisan gerrymandering scheme. Her other day one priority, apparently. violating what she said on the campaign trail, something that we will cover coming up in the next hour. But just a snapshot, a heart sick mother begging for change, almost completely ignored by the media and almost completely ignored by the party that controls her state. And they call themselves the party of compassion and progress. What a crock. We'll be right back.

Yesterday, we had your colleague, Senator Marshall from Kansas here opening the show, and he shared with us what seemed to be something of a breakthrough on this Democratic shutdown of the Department of Homeland Security, which is now dragged on for 40 days. Seemed like Republicans actually were making a pretty major concession that I was... at least had some concerns about to the Democrats in order to put an end to this logjam. And there was just a question about whether or not the president was fully on board. And it had not occurred to me that the Democrats might say no to this because they were by and large getting what they wanted. But as of this morning at least, I saw that Chuck Schumer had not responded to this offer at all and had called it unacceptable in some. setting or interview because it did not give the Democrats everything that they wanted when it comes to these crippling new restrictions on ice. So where does this stand right now, Senator? Well, what we saw roughly around probably noon or 1230 is that yes, the Democratic leader, Chuck Schumer, actually rejected what was close to being a breakthrough amongst the Democrats, the Republicans, and the White House, and instead insisted on additional demands.

You know, I was with Roger last night. I mean, we were all together, and it was like, wow, you know, we're voting. We're going to be moving forward. We'll have this thing wrapped up. We'll be able to fund TSA or Secret Service, the Coast Guard, FEMA, on and on and on. And it all fell apart. with leader Chuck Schumer. And what it brings home, I think, to all of us is that they love this issue, which is ridiculous of defunding the ice. They love this issue and they hate the president more than they love the United States of America and are men and women that are out there trying to protect the homeland. So just to make sure that we're crystal clear on this, Senator, the Democrats 40 days ago shut down DHS using the filibuster power that they have. They're in the minority in both houses of Congress. They don't have the presidency. They got wiped out in 2024. They might have a resurgence this year in the midterms. But right now, they are largely without power. But they do have the minority power of the filibuster in the U.S. Senate. And they've used it. Now for the second time in the last six months to shut the government down, this one is more limited because you guys actually funded 11 twelfths of the appropriations bills. Republicans were able to pass those, but this was the one last sticking point. A bipartisan bill had been agreed to and passed through the House, but because Democrats in their base decided we really want to stick it to ice, that's what our voters are demanding. They want us to fight on this. Chuck Schumer does not. want to lose his leadership position. He learned that lesson last year. So they decided, all right, we're going to shut down DHS. And using that filibuster, they have maintained that blockade for 40 days, over the course of which there have been four Homeland Security jihadist attacks. That has not made them blink. There are these horrible four-hour lines at airports all across the country. That has not made them blink. Their thing is we don't want to fund ICE. We'll fund DHS, but not ICE. And usually they shouldn't be able to make any demands. That's their own shutdown. framework, actually, when Republicans are doing shutdowns, they say we won't negotiate with hostage takers. You don't get to determine or dictate any of these terms. But that's what they're trying to do here. They said, we don't want to fund this part of DHS, but we will fund the rest of it. And then finally, the Republicans with so much harm and pain out there caused by the Democrats, Republicans said, okay, yes, let's do that. And the Democrats said no. You have got it absolutely correct. And what I want to emphasize as well is that when we're saying we're not providing those dollars for ICE, guy, you know this as well as the next guy. We've already pre-funded ICE. So through this entire 40-day shutdown of the Department of Homeland Security, the people that they want to hurt are getting paid.

The left-leaning politicians here in Washington, D.C., they so badly, whether it is ICE, whether it's our military engaging in operations in Iran, you know, no matter what the circumstance, again, they hate Donald Trump so much that they want to see our country lose. I mean, they want to see ice lose. They want to see our military lose. They want to paint us in this just awful, awful light. And I don't get it. What has happened to being proud of your nation and wanting to uphold the laws? I just had a tweet that was sent to me. And it was Chris Murphy, Democrat Senator Chris Murphy, talking about how the Democrats' goal is to protect... Their number one population, which is undocumented people here in the United States. Yeah, we played that clip yesterday. He said it in 2024. He talked about the population that they care the most about in his party. Undocumented Americans is what he called them. Which they're not Americans if they're undocumented here. You know, let's get that straight. They have entered the country illegally. They are not Americans. So when he's calling them undocumented Americans, it's a falsehood. It's trying to lead people down the wrong path by thinking that, oh, these people belong here simply because they crossed over the border. That's absolutely incorrect. Again, we are a nation of laws, and I know some people don't like that, but it's why we are an exceptional nation because we have laws and we follow and enforce those laws. That's what ICE is doing. They are following and enforcing our laws passed by not just Republicans, but Democrats and Republicans through the years. Senator Ernst stand by. I have to take a break. We'll do it quickly. And then they immediately said no. It seems to me that in their mind, they're going to go on TV. They're going to post on social media. And I've seen it. They say, well, the Republicans control all of Washington. So if there's chaos, it's their fault. They ignore the fact that they're the ones doing the shutdown with the filibuster. That's sort of this arcane detail. And they sort of wink at their friends, the journalists, like, we're not going to talk about that too much. Are we? Okay, great. So they're going to blame Donald Trump. They're going to blame congressional Republicans. Put it all on them. And you might say, gosh, we've had four terrorist attacks on the homeland, jihadist attacks in the last couple of weeks. What if there's a fifth, God forbid, or a sixth? I think their attitude is they'll blame that on Donald Trump as well. Yeah, they will try and blame anything they can on President Donald Trump. But what I would encourage everybody, go back and look at the vote tallies. Just look at the vote tallies. You see, every single Republican is voting to fund the Department of Homeland Security. And look at how the Democrats are voting, minus John Fetterman. God bless him. But look at how they're voting. They can't say it's Republicans shutting us down. And I know people don't understand the filibuster and that mechanism. But if you just ask them, just honestly ask them, okay, go to the Senate website. Look up the vote tally. Republicans. Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes. Democrats. No, no, no, no, no. Okay, tell me who is not funding the Department of Homeland Security. They can't ignore that. You just look at the vote tallies. So it's, especially now. This is what I'm kind of flummoxed by the Republicans. And I expressed some skepticism about this yesterday to Senator Marshall because if you're giving the Democrats what they want. And I understand the argument is Republicans would then try to fund ICE even longer through a second reconciliation bill along party lines, which I would support. But if you're going to allow the Democrats to dictate the terms on what part of DHS they're willing to fund, I thought that was rewarding, extremely irresponsible behavior that they themselves. have called legislative terrorism and hostage taking in the not that distant past. You're then giving into them to some extent. But the decision was made. Listen, we have to be adults in the room. We have to fund this. Let's fight another day and we can fund ICE in a reconciliation bill. So we're going to basically give the Democrats what they've been insisting upon. And so then that offer was made.

And the answer was no anyway. Because now they're like getting super greedy. They're like, no, no, no. Actually, we want to fund none of DHS. until we get quote unquote reforms that would defund and cripple and handcuff ICE's ability to enforce federal immigration law. That seems to be what they are now tripling down on after insisting that's not what they were doing for weeks. No, exactly. No, you are absolutely correct. You know how to read a room. So we did decide to go ahead and move forward with. what we thought was the offer on the table last night. And then they came back today and said, oh, just kidding. Kind of like Lucy in the football, you know, if anybody has ever looked at the peanut comic strip. So, you know, they yanked it away and said, oh, so sorry, we've got other demands. So lesson learned there is that just simply don't trust the Democrats. Just. don't do it. We'll go ahead and fund ICE through a second reconciliation package. And believe me, if you want us to do a second reconciliation package, we're going to find other things that we can do in there too and make sure DHS, you know, if you're looking at TSA agents, make sure they're funded for the long term. Look at maybe the Coast Guard making sure they're funded for the long term. If we need to move all of that to mandatory spending, hey, great, we can do that. So we're looking at other ways that we can make sure that we are able to protect our homeland and protect those really incredible men and women that have put up with so much pain and agony through these shutdowns. Let's protect them as well. We've also had discussions about, okay, well, let's revisit some of the bills that we've had in the past where we prevent government shutdowns. You know, if we can't fund these departments on time at the end of the fiscal year, then let's immediately roll into a continuing resolution. I mean, there could be arguments made against it as well. But I think there was also a push, if I'm not mistaken, to withhold the salaries of senators and members of Congress during shutdowns. If you are withholding paychecks from federal workers because you refuse to do your job and your... playing your political game, fine, but put your money where your mouth is and you're not going to get paid at the same time. The Democrats block that as well. They want to get their paychecks flowing, but they don't want like the frontline Homeland Security officers getting their paychecks. And the sad thing is, you know, honestly, if you look at the federal wages that are paid for different jobs, you know, the TSA agents, the men and women that are working security at our airports, they're not getting rich. They are not rich federal employees.

These are men and women that are really just getting by, especially if they live in areas like Washington, D.C. You know, they're not making a lot of money. And we've lost about 400 agents during this particular shutdown, this 40-day shutdown. They've quit because they've had to take other jobs. And in the last government shutdown, I believe we had about a thousand agents then. that left federal government employment. Well, I mean, you can't count on your paycheck coming in because of these games that get played. And now it's happened multiple times. So it's hard to blame them for that. Hammer on social, best friend of the program. Mary Catherine, welcome back. Thank you for having me. I would like to start in Virginia, and I'm going to be pounding this drum through April 21st. I think it is a national story, not just a Virginia story. There are four House seats that could flip automatically with this gerrymandering from a six to five map that the Democrats have a slight advantage on in a pretty split purple state to 10 to 1. as egregious and brazen as they could possibly get. And as I've talked about several times on this show, it has been an avalanche of propaganda being shoveled at the voters of Virginia for months at this point. I remember watching the Olympics. We were bombarded with all these ads starring various Democrats and Barack Obama all the way through March madness. I still. To this day, have not seen one single ad cutting in the other direction against this insane scheme. One of the latest ads, of course, on the yes side from the Democrats are the only ones doing this apparently, features Abigail Spanberger, the newly elected supposedly moderate Democrat governor of the state. She said before the election that she was not going to do redistricting. And now she is endorsing and pushing. The most aggressive gerrymander in the country, six to five to ten to one. It is on the ballot up or down across Virginia, April 21st, early voting already happening. Here is governor moderate cut 19. I'm Governor Abigail Spanberger, and I'm voting yes on Virginia's redistricting amendment. It's directly in response to what other states decide to do. And a president who says that he's, quote, entitled to more Republican seats before this year's midterms. Our approach is different. It's temporary. It preserves Virginia's fair redistricting process into the future. At this extraordinary moment, I urge all Virginians to join me in voting yes.

by April 21st. In response, the very recent Republican governor of Virginia, Glenn Youngkin, tweeting, this is a lie, a blatant lie, not to mention a complete reversal of your campaign promises, this unconstitutional power grab will permanently rig Virginia's congressional maps and disenfranchised millions of voters. Virginia vote no. That's the argument, Mary Catherine. Voters seem to be getting... Only one side of the argument. And yet there was an NBC story just recently that they're sweating. They're not sure that they have this in the bag because of some of the early voting trends and the people that seem pretty pissed off, frankly, that they're doing this. Where does this stand in your mind? Well, first, I do want to emphasize that it is neither fair nor temporary. We have a fair process that gave you the 5-6 that was voted on in 2020, not very long ago, by Virginians at a rate of 60 plus percent, almost 70, that they wanted this bipartisan redistricting commission combined with the Supreme Court created this 5-6 situation. Democrats are overriding that and calling it fair and temporary when it is neither. outlandish how opposite of the truth this is. I'm glad to see Yon get in the game and comment on this. He is a popular figure. He can't have two terms in Virginia, unfortunately, back to back. So we can't have him as governor, but his voice on this is needed and a lot more money on ads is needed. Because I think the voters of Virginia are inclined to say, what are we doing? Why are we changing things? We kind of thought this was a fair map as it is ranked one of the fairest in the country. And we voted for that. And so they're a little confused. And I think people are a little ticked off as you see these early voting numbers go way high in some Republican areas of the state. But that doesn't mean the no will win. Right. Here's the thing. On the fairness, the fact that they are using the touchstone of fairness is the extra spit in the eye in my mind. Because as you said, Virginia is currently ranked as one of the fairest district map scenarios in the country, state by state. It is one of the most representative maps across the 50 states based on the people and the criteria who rate these things. They want to take that. throw out the nonpartisan bipartisan commission that people voted for by more than two to one margin, just a few years ago, as you point out, and replace it with a partisan gerrymander, which Virginians rejected overwhelmingly a couple of years ago, that would become the least fair map in the country. According to a lot of these experts, if you look at proportionality of the vote versus representation. And then Abigail Spanberger in the clip that we played the new ad, she claims it's temporary. I don't believe them. And I believe that Mark Warner just decided he's running for reelection for his, what, fourth or fifth term? When he swore up and down, he was only going to max out at two. Politicians lie all the time. That's not just a Democrat thing. Politicians do that.

But she said in that ad, quote, it meaning the ballot measure, preserves Virginia's fair redistricting process into the future. And I think what she's saying, because that comes right after the word temporary, I think she's quasi admitting that this gerrymander isn't fair. But don't worry, we'll go back to the fairness in the future once all of this has shaken out. If that's what she's saying, the way that it's worded, I think is ambiguous. She's kind of echoing another Democrat in the state, Don Beyer, who's a hardcore lefty Democrat congressman who is defending this whole thing saying, well, yeah, it actually is unfair if you look at it in Virginia, but nationally it is fair and is, quote, the most significant thing we can do to stop Donald Trump. That is the quiet part out loud admitting the unfairness and saying, we just want to stick it to Trump. Yeah. the plan, right? And he's sort of saying the quiet part out loud. Hers is a little more subtle. But you know what wasn't subtle? Was her answer on the trail when she was asked about this while running for this office that she is currently in? In October of 2025, when she's asked if she might redistricting, she says short answer is no. Virginia by constitutional amendment has a new redistricting effort that was put in place and first utilized in the 2021 redistricting. Short answer is no. No ambiguity there. She also attacked Jerrymandering. She attacked it as bad for democracy, dangerous, stealing people's votes. She's hardcore against it. She was in favor of the bipartisan commission just a few years ago. She told voters in Virginia, I'm not going to do this. We're not doing this. She ran as a moderate and an institutionalist. And now look, look at what they are doing. Just weeks they started this process after winning that election. That is a brazen, shameless, about face lie, power grab, period. I think the lesson is there isn't a moderate Democrat, particularly one who has national ambitions. They will do this to you every time. We need to win on this. Those of us who like the fair map teach them a lesson for overreaching. But it's going to take some money. It's going to take some commitment and work to hit the ground and do it. Yep. And to actually tell the voters who are against this or who might be against this that it's happening, first of all. and that the crazy language and verbiage that they've put on the actual amendment itself. I read it out loud on the air when I went to go vote early. I took a photo of my ballot. It was wild the way that they framed the whole thing. And they're trying to, again, wrap it all in democracy and fairness and just a response to what Trump is doing. And they are leaving out intentionally, Mary Catherine, the reality that Texas went.

after New York went. So New York actually went first. The Democrats here in New York went first with the mid-decade redistricting. They got stopped by a court. We'll see if the Democrats do in Virginia, by the way. They've done this illegally in multiple ways. I don't know if these judges have the courage to stop it. They kicked the can till after the election and after the referendum. But. It is clear cut in my mind, and several of the lower courts have ruled. This is done illegally. So the New York Democrats got scuttled. Then the Texas Republicans did it, trying to make up for the blown 2020 census, which gave Democrats six to ten seats that they don't deserve based on population. Then California came in to settle the score with Texas five to five, roughly five seats each is the goal. And then other states, Republican red states, took off ramps, de-escalated, and what the Democrats in Virginia are now doing is escalating, pretending like the California thing never happened, and Donald Trump is the bogeyman in every single ad that they're running, and they are running a ton of them. Well, and that works for a certain sector of the state, right? The part of the state they want to run the rest of the state, which is the problem with this map. It essentially takes away representation from the rest of the state and gives it all to Northern Virginia where a bunch of blue Democrats will never have to leave their local country club to go out to the rural areas of this state. to meet people because they can get enough votes right where they are. And I think that is a bad way of doing business. And by the way, Abigail Spanberger thought it was bad up until a couple months ago. They have said at polling places they cannot show voters what the maps would look like, the new maps. That is illegal. You cannot show them what the maps would look like. And part of the reason for that is the maps are... transparently crazy and unfair, just eyeballing them. You were talking about Northern Virginia. The way that the map is drawn, Mary Catherine, you could have five, basically half. of the Virginia delegation, five Democrats, all living in Fairfax County alone, and all living in their own districts if they chose to be in that little part of Fairfax County that they've been assigned, five districts running through one county in Northern Virginia. Districts, which, by the way, they openly, while drawing them, were promising them to people slash naming them for individual people. Yep. It's crazy. Fairness. Fairness and democracy is what they call that. I want to turn Mary Catherine to the national scene. A couple stories out of California specifically. Let's get to them when we come back on Guy Benson. In the swamp, not of the swamp. Guy Benson.

Mary Catherine Hamm is our happy hour guest here on Guy Benson. All right, Mary Catherine. I don't know if you saw this story, but Axios had a piece. I'm just going to read you the headline. Dems-Eying White House lean into their childhood traumas. Here's the lead of the story. Some potential 28 Democratic presidential candidates are introducing themselves to voters in a striking way. by documenting their childhood resentments, family chaos, and fights with their parents. I'll just stop there for now. Mary Catherine, I know that grievance and victimhood is the coin of the realm on the left and increasingly generally in our politics, but... Is it not a little bit weird to be like, hello America, I would like to lead you. Let me tell you about all my family baggage and dirty laundry immediately because I too am a victim. Isn't this gross? It's gross. I don't want a trauma-informed presidential campaign. I just want you to tell me what you'd like to do for the country. Now, part of this is that a bunch of people who've lived pretty easy lives and pretty rich lives have to get some cred by saying, hey, I had struggles too, just like you. But the problem with the Democrats is that they don't frame it as resilience. Like I overcame something and now I'm here. They frame it as I was diagnosed with dyslexia. And by the way, I'm still going to blame anything on that from now on forever, just as Biden did with his stutter, right? You haven't overcome something if you're still blaming it for all your mistakes. Well, especially when you're saying that someone calling you economically illiterate is making fun of your dyslexia. which conflates various things and does not say anything good about you or your resilience or your understanding of the meaning of words, which is actually not affected by dyslexia. And there's others like J.B. Pritzker is a billionaire family guy. He's got his story and the list goes down. Now, I will say JD Vance, our sitting vice president, definitely introduced himself to the country through trauma in his book. Hillbilly elegy, but he also was not a career politician seeking elective office at that time. That was a searing memoir. I see that Andy Beshear, the governor of Kentucky, who comes from a powerful, rich political family, is actually mocking JD Vance for that, saying that he's attacking Appalachia because apparently like the genteel, sophisticated city, Andy Beshear. understands the real people of Kentucky better than the guy who grew up in Appalachia. But anyway, that's neither here nor there. You know when Republicans mock Democrats for this kind of trauma dumping while stumping, they're going to point to JD Vance, right? Yeah. Well, yeah, of course. But again, JD Vance, like, framed as a story of resilience.

of these are the chances that America gave me. Not I'm a rich guy who had some people be mean to me when I was a child and I remain rich and even richer and more powerful. JD Vance had some like legitimate, hardcore, deep trauma. And he shared it with the world in that book and then it became a movie before he was running for office. I just want to point that out one more time. By the way, speaking of this. kind of bizarre set of rules and this hierarchy of grievance and the things that animate the left and their activists. This could very much be a woke tale story. But did you see that out in California, a gubernatorial debate? at USC has been canceled because activists and others criticized it for a lack of diversity. And it just happens under the rules that were established that the candidates who qualified are too white in their mind. So rather than saying those are the rules, sorry, this has nothing to do with skin color. USC and the organizer said, ooh, too white, never mind, it's canceled. Yeah. Look, if they were capable of being embarrassed, they would be, but they're not. And this is the thing. They can't hold standards because their standards are the diversity, right? The standard was, if you hit this certain percentage, you're in the debate, but now we've got to change it because the debate's now too white. It's ludicrous. It doesn't deal with people's actual qualifications. It deals solely with their skin color, which is like, you know, racist. And it makes you look dumb. It makes you look out of touch with voters. Yesterday, in this very hour, I was playing an old clip of Gavin Newsom's wife just from a couple years ago, talking about her struggle with the term First Lady, and she had pitched first partner, but she wasn't sure if the country was ready for that. And she was talking about women and men, then she caught herself and added gender non-conforming individuals to the list. That plus this canceled debate. Mary Catherine, these people, like the country has moved on from 2020. These people, the base of the Democrat Party, they are rooted deeply in the 2020 woke mentality. They have not budged. Yeah, they don't know how to get out of it. And they're lame and weird. And their behavior is lame and weird. And people don't like it. And when they communicate that they're still very into this lame and weird behavior that's often turned into bullying, by the way, speaking of trauma. People don't want anything to do with it, but they don't know how to get out of it because their base is so wedded to it. So, so wedded to it. Mary Catherine Hamm is not lame. She is not weird. Talking about the issues you care about, Guy Benson. At the very top of today's show, Will Kane, our friend in Kali here at Fox News, joined us in studio here in New York. We had a lot to talk about. Here's how we kicked off today's program with Will Kane. J.B. Pritzker, the governor of Illinois, who was speaking out early and often about every development in Minneapolis, for example, went to Minneapolis to lay a wreath and have a photo op. He had not one word to say about this murder in his own state for more than four days until he finally got shamed into it. Here's a clip that we played yesterday of the governor trying to spin this thing and blame Trump and others. Cut 29. Well, this has been a terrible tragedy, and I know that the Gorman family has suffered mightily. I agree there have been real failures. Those failures, of course, extend. beyond the borders of illinois that's their national failures a failure to have comprehensive immigration reform a failure of the president to follow his own edict to go after the worst of the worst uh... and in my view we we have a lot of work that we need to continue to do But it is the job of the federal government to go after immigration enforcement, and it is the job of our local and state law enforcement to prosecute or to catch violent criminals and prosecute them. And we should continue to do that both on the state level and the national level. Will Kane, a few things jump out at me in that soundbite. What jumps out at you? Said very well by you yesterday on Will Cain Country Guy, this is not a failure of policy. This is a success of policy. I think you laid that out very, very well to me yesterday on Will Cain Country. This is a product of soft on crime, sanctuary city policies, an open border policy under the previous president. And quite honestly, really a half century's worth of insanity when it comes to our immigration policy. What we got in Chicago is what the system was designed to produce. under men like J.B. Pritzker. So it's not a failure. It's a success of policy, a policy designed by Democrats. I thought you laid that out really well yesterday. Again, which someone can get to Spotify and Apple on Will Kane country. But insanity is the word that keeps coming back to me. We have... I think an increasingly obvious insane conversation about immigration policy at large. So what sticks out to me in that J.J.B. Pritzker clip is his usage of the term comprehensive immigration reform. So that is such an interesting phrase that Democrats use over and over again. And of course it was their escape hatch guy on ever enforcing the border. Well, we can't enforce the border until we get comprehensive immigration reform. And that always meant for them devising some pathway to citizenship for illegals. But again, something you and I discussed yesterday. Okay. I accept your terms. Let's have comprehensive immigration reform. That to me will include obviously the deportation of illegal immigrants, criminal, violent or not, the deportation of illegal immigrants. It'll be reformed to the legal immigration system, which went awry in 1965 with the Immigration Nationality Act, heart sellers, and a much more strict policy of controlling the people that come into this country under a simple, simple question, a simple, simple banner. Do you love and want to be an American? And if that's your question, if that's your barometer,

You won't accept people from, you will accept some very strict quotas or numbers or filters of people from certain cultures from certain parts of the world. But I don't care if you're an Englishman and you don't love America. Don't come to America. I want to go into the policies of denaturalization. I want to talk about really the people in this country who are not born here who become Americans ensuring that they love America. So if J.B. Pristler wants to talk about comprehensive regression reform, those are the terms on which I will discuss this comprehensively. He does not. Spoiler alert, they won't. They would never have that conversation. They won't even support the deportation of criminal illegal immigrants. They won't even start there. Here's the thing that I want to just ruminate on for a moment, and I touched on it briefly with Paul Morrow yesterday. He said, he uses like this passive voice, there have been failures. And then when he starts specifying the failures, it's not his. It's outside Illinois. It's the president. who fails, quote, to follow his own edict to go after the worst of the worst. Okay, I want to focus on this. The alleged murderer in this case, an illegal immigrant, with a criminal history. was not under J.B. Pritzker's definition, the worst of the worst, until he pulled the trigger. He was in the country illegally. He committed multiple crimes in this country, but they were nonviolent crimes. So under the standard that Democrats pretend to care about, worst of the worst, and say, oh, Trump isn't actually doing that, they would have, and in fact did protect this exact guy until he became the worst of the worst. I don't understand how you can fault Trump. For not going after the worst of the worst, implying like this guy shouldn't have been here, when your policies let him in, that full discussion with Will Kane available online at Guy Benson.com. I posted on Instagram at Guy Benson, a photo of our son in his crib surrounded by all of his little stuffed animal friends, including the bumblebee, very important. You can't see all of him, but Mr. Hippo is there as well. Big, big star of the show, Mr. Hippo, and the bumblebee. I do a bumblebee sound effect for him on a regular basis. So he's sitting in his crib and in between his legs, his little chubby baby footsies are a few sonogram images of his little sister. And if you look carefully in the photo, he's giving a little thumbs up. to these pictures. Now, that is a complete coincidence. We could not have possibly gotten him to do that if we tried. Getting this photo was difficult enough as is, but it just so happened that he's looking down at the photo and giving a thumbs up to these images in utero of his little baby sister. Do again. this summer. And so my caption on the Instagram post, Guy Benson, big brother status loading, baby sister incoming summer 2026. And it's funny because we've been telling him about her now for a while. And we keep kind of laying the groundwork that there's a baby sister coming. You're going to be a big brother. You're

kind of repeat back some of the slogans to us, but I'm not sure if they've penetrated what it means exactly. And so he will look at us from time to time and say, I'd be gentle with a baby. Or I'm a big brother, right? He'll say these things and he'll look at you sort of for affirmation, but it's clear he doesn't quite get it yet. That will change, obviously, God willing, here, in a number of months. But we've been kind of keeping it under our hat, not telling almost anyone, small circle of friends and family and a few others. We wanted to make sure that everything was going as well as possible. And we're now significantly past the halfway point in the pregnancy. You might remember some of you who listen every day, and thank you for that. I was off on a random Wednesday a couple weeks ago. That was because we were physically attending the 20-week ultrasound. So again, looking like a clean bill of health, thank God. And we're just praying that that continues. And any prayers to that effect, of course, very, very appreciated. So yeah, that's the news. You can look at that cute little photo if you want. On my Instagram, Guy Benson, we're just over the moon about it. And people have already started asking me, do you have a name picked out for your daughter? And the answer is yes. And I'm not going to tell you what it is. But I will tell you what we were strongly considering and decided against. We were this close to naming our sweet little girl carousel as I look to the heavens and think of the pony that we all lost those years ago. But it was just, it's too traumatic, frankly, to name her that. And so we decided not to Christine. How far down on the list was Christine? Far down. Really, like really far? Yes. You figured while I'm making her the godmother, so that's good enough. We do have some godparent choices made as well. It's not you. Sorry, it's once again not you. But you did know about the existence of this little girl before almost anyone else. Like a very tight group found out our parents, a few others. But I kind of had to tell you very early in the process because. When I'll be out for a little while on parental leave over the summer, like, you got to get that ball rolling kind of soon. So I told you, and I told the big boss here at work. I mean, I have a few very close friends at work like Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Kat Timp, but I think you knew before even they did, Christine, because of the planning element that was needed here. So that was months ago, I told you. I haven't planned one day yet. You've done no planning? Okay. So I made a mistake. And here's the story that we have to share. And you can hear Dylan giggling in the background here. Dylan, would you care to share the text messages from a couple weeks ago and read for the audience how this went down? Wait. Sure. Why? Because it's very funny. We have to. So what date was this, by the way? This was March 11th. Okay. So a few weeks ago. Yeah, right around the ultrasound. Right. Yes. And the whole reason that this came up is, like you said, you were off and you were texting about having some travel issues related to going to this appointment. And you had said all of these things. And then- Because, by the way, we got rerouted mid-flight because of weather to a different city, had to rent a car and drive for hours, the whole thing. Anyway, go ahead. Yes. So miserable. And Christine replied, OMG.

The joys of parenting already starting with your new little one. You do anything. Very sweet sentiment, except for the fact that she said this in a group chat with me who had not been informed of this news yet. That's correct. And you replied in parentheses, Dylan, we are having a second child. And that was how I found out. And we had had. private conversations in the past that you guys were considering so considering having a second one so i wasn't totally caught off guard but that was my reveal of how i found out that uh baby Guy Benson number two was was on the way it was christine spilling the beans and she then jumps in right because she realizes what she's done yeah she replied gah with like maybe 15 ages and said, OMG, you of course replied, she's a steel trap, folks. Christine then said, I'm so sorry, I thought you told him since you texted here. Oh, M.G, no. And I said, oh, cooks. Well, thankfully, I am a steel trap. And she said, oh, God, oh God. Wait, I swear you told us together. No. No. Yeah, I sure hadn't. Just Christine. And went straight in the vault and that vault did not close. It did not close. She said, and correctly predicted, well, here goes a week of home stretch. Cookie spills the beans. OMG. I went to crawl into a hole and die right now. And then she subsequently called me and said, she said, oh my God, please tell me that you actually knew. And I was like, I'm. I'm sorry to report that this was actually news for me. And yeah, so that was the whole saga of me finding out this news. A very, very cookie moment in this very exciting stretch of news. And I was tempted to tell that story as soon as I could on the air, but we had to wait until the time was right, which is today. So that is the good news with somehow. A crazy Christine angle to that news because of this. I still haven't told the big boss about this. He is going to lose it when I tell him. I don't think we need to tell him. Oh, it's part of your lore now. It's on national radio now. I do enough things around here to make him shake his head. That's true. He laughs and shakes his head. Every time he sees me. Yeah. Every time. This will add. This will add to the fun. Well, in true cookie form, Dylan, if you remember, I did spin it. Very well. I thought so. What was your spin? It was so good that we don't remember what it was. What was your spin? Well, my spin to Dylan was, I'm impressed that I never told you. Oh, yes. You tried to. Then it was like your dry January's where you get to like January 8th and then you start drinking again. And then you celebrate yourself for going more than a week. Like, you were so impressed that you went this long without sharing a deeply personal secret. And then after that didn't work, I went on to the next step that Cooks does, the blame game. I blamed you for putting it in the group chat.

Because then I just assumed he would know. Yeah, but I didn't mention what we were doing. You were just telling your staff. I was just updating you about my whereabouts. That's it. That is all it was. And then you're like, well, he opened the door. Let's tell Dylan. I really did. What does Bobby think about this? Did you tell him? This one, he was like, that's bad. He's like, you're lucky he's as chill as he is. Because when I told Bobby, he goes, oh, I didn't even know. I'm like, oh, my God, see? Look how good I am. Steel trap. Joel, did I tell you? No, I didn't. Surprisingly, no. Because I'm a good secret keeper. Until I'm not. You are not. Yeah, you are not. Yeah. Yeah. So. Oh, Auntie Cookie's so excited, though. Congratulations. I cannot wait. Is baby Conrad getting booted from his nursery now? No. Oh, he gets to keep his room? He's going to stay in his room. And then we're actually taking a separate bedroom that is my current home studio. moving the home studio, and that will become the nursery.
