I'm Josh and Shana with the five things you need to know for Thursday, September 18th. Jimmy Kimmel has been taken off the air. Disney's ABC has yanked his late night talk show indefinitely after comments he made about Charlie Kirk's suspected killer. We hit some new lows over the weekend, with the Maga Gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it. Next Star, which operates about two dozen ABC affiliates, issued a press release saying it, quote, strongly objects to Kimmel's remarks. And just minutes later, ABC said the show was being removed nationwide. The stunning decision came just a few hours after the Trump administration official, who's responsible for licensing ABC's local stations, publicly pressured the company to punish Kimmel. Here's what FCC chair Brendan Carr had to say to right-wing podcaster Benny Johnson yesterday. Look, we can do this the easy way or the hard way. These companies can find ways to change conduct and take action. frankly, on Kimmel, or there's going to be additional work for the FCC ahead. Free speech groups immediately condemned ABC, calling the suspension cowardly, while President Donald Trump, who frequently sparred with Kimmel, celebrated the decision on social media. A representative for Kimmel did not immediately respond to a request for comment. And a source familiar with the fluid and fast-moving situation told CNN that Jimmy Kimmel Live has not been cancelled, but added there is no timeline as to when the show may return. And in another crackdown on opposing voices, Trump says he will designate the far-left anti-fascism movement, Antifa, as a, quote, major terrorist organization. He announced the move in a truth social post, though it's not exactly clear who or what would be targeted, a point which House Democrat Dan Goldman made to CNN yesterday. I hope he can first define what Antifa is, because there is no Antifa organization. So maybe that's good for social media, but it really is non-existent. But the point is that he's using the Charlie Kirk murder as a pretext. to go after people that he disagrees with. So we're now entering the second day of Trump's state visit to the UK. And it follows a first day filled with pomp and pageantry, which Trump called one of the highest honors of my life during a state banquet speech, as he hailed the special relationship between the two countries. Together we've done more good for humanity than any two countries at all of history.

Together, we must defend the exceptional heritage that makes us who we are. Today, the focus will switch from Royal Splendor to something more pragmatic, as Trump heads to British Prime Minister Keir Starmer's residents at Chequers for a day of talks. CNN's Nader Andy Beshear has more on the agenda. Among those key topics to be discussed is trade. We have seen the announcement of a multi-villion dollar investment by the United States into the United Kingdom. The war in Gaza is expected to be a key topic of discussion. Of course, the US's involvement in the war in Ukraine as well, and NATO's involvement is expected to be discussed as well. Back to the U.S. now. This kind of violence isn't okay. We need to do better as a society. That's Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro, after three officers in the state were killed in a shooting and two remain in critical but stable condition. According to the state's police commissioner, a suspect opened fire as officers attempted to serve an arrest warrant yesterday afternoon in rural central Pennsylvania. Officials say the shooter was facing a charge of stalking and criminal trespass, and sources say the suspect appeared to be lying in wait when officers arrived, although they say it's unclear if he was waiting for officers or his ex-girlfriend. Authorities say the suspect died after being shot by police. A judge has ordered the deportation of pro-Palestinian activist Mahmoud Khalil. More on that next. Back to School starts now. A US immigration judge has ordered Mahmoud Khalil to be deported to Algeria or Syria. Court documents show that the order is over claims that the pro-Palestinian activist left out information from his green card application. But Khalil's lawyers said they intend to appeal the deportation order, and they say separate orders from a federal district court are still an effect, which prohibits the government from immediately deporting or detaining him. And that's all for now. Our next episode drops at noon eastern. What's your story? Do you know it? Where your family came from and who they were? We help you discover those answers.
