Kyle Siege is expected to change his plea to guilty in a court appearance this morning. In all, seven people were accused of holding Nordquist captive over several months and torturing him at a hotel and Hopewell. His body was found in a field in Yates County in February of last year. Three of the other seven defendants have already pleaded guilty. Dave Smith, News Radio Wham, 1180. Meantime, a Rochester man who admitted to a near-fatal domestic shooting is expected to be sentenced today to 17 to 19 years in prison. 45-year-old Robert Johnson pleaded guilty to attempted second-degree murder for opening fire on his ex-girlfriend inside a Willow Street home in May of last year. Police say the 32-year-old victim was shot several times while their child was inside. She survived after her emergency treatment at Strong Hospital. Prosecutors say the attack was deliberate.

A man who admitted to killing a Rochester bar doorman in a hit and run expected to be sentenced to five to ten years in prison today. 35-year-old Leonel Yuspania pleaded guilty Wednesday to vehicular manslaughter. Police say he had left Monroe Avenue Bar before he ran over 70-year-old Henry Brown on South Union Street near Buena Place back in June of last year. Brown was the doorman at Salingers in the East End. had five prior DWI convictions. He also may face deportation. News Radio Whamble at any time is now at 705. Former federal prosecutor Brett Tolman says Mangione's defense team might want a deal because the feds charged Mangione with stalking resulting in death. Not murder. Because on the federal system, there's quite a bit that they will be able to argue for a lighter sentence. Mangione is being charged with second-degree murder in his state case, and Tolman says his chances of life without parole are much higher there than federal court. Tolman says if there's a deal on the table, Mangione's lawyers will no doubt ask for state charges to be dismissed based on the double jeopardy rule. In New York, I'm Lizzie Radabali. President Trump says the US has total control over the Strait of Hormuz. Fox's Jonathan Hunt has the details from Tel Aviv. The U.S. naval blockade is still in full effect. President Trump says, quote, I think we will keep it. Our naval blockade is being called by everyone a wall of steel, and there is nothing Iran can do about it. Iran shoots back. It can do plenty about it and says, quote, the Strait of Hormuz, as before, remains under the full management and control of the Islamic Republic of Iran. No commercial vessel. or oil tanker can or will be able to transit the strait safely without the authorization and supervision of Iran's powerful armed forces. The city has taken over the buildings at 170 to 172 East Main Street. They intend to demolish them and turn the land into a new public space. The resulting plaza goes along with redevelopment work planned in the coming years for the adjacent buildings, all part of it. $20 million state assisted plan to revitalize downtown Rochester. Chief Judge Rowan Wilson made that admission to the State Commission on Judicial Conduct, which has now dismissed the complaint that was brought against him by some Republican lawmakers. Wilson was called out for telling those attending a law school forum to vote out judges who hand down what he called stupid tough sentences. In 2018 and 2019, two of its 737 max jets crashed within months of each other, killing 346 people. Results from the world's largest supplier of networking gear are leaving investors disappointed. In all, seven people were accused of holding Norquist captive over several months and torturing him at a hotel in Hopewell. The victim of a deadly crash in Wolcott has now been identified. Troopers say 23-year-old Delaney Murray of Lyons was killed early Wednesday morning when a car went off Route 104A and slammed into a utility pole. The impact was so hard that Murray's car split into several pieces. Luigi Mangione will plead guilty to federal charges in the killing of United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson. According to several reports, Mangione faces stalking charges resulting in the 10th of Thompson and could be sentenced to life in prison if convicted. Secretary of War Pete Hegseth is pushing back on reports that a record-breaking deployment at sea is creating a mental health crisis aboard a U.S. aircraft carrier. About 5,000 sailors and Marines have been on board the USS Abraham Lincoln since November, partly because of the war with Iran. Pete Hegseth says the reports are completely misrepresented. Kyle Sage will become the fourth of seven defendants to plead guilty. In July after the last plea, Ontario County Assistant Attorney James Noble offered a possible explanation. When people start pleading guilty, I think that certainly creates some momentum. There also is pressure from a federal investigation that would cause people to plead guilty. A Rochester man is scheduled to be sentenced today for a violent domestic attack that nearly turned deadly. 45-year-old Robert Johnson pleaded guilty to attempted murder. After prosecutors say he shot his ex-girlfriend several times inside a Willis Street home in May of last year. Investigators say the woman's child was inside during the shooting. She survived after being rushed to strong hospital. Johnson is expected to get up to 19 years in state prison. The man who admitted to killing a Rochester bar doorman in a hit and run is expected to be sentenced. to five to ten years in prison today. 35-year-old Leonel Yaspena pleaded guilty Wednesday to vehicular manslaughter. Police say he had left a Monroe Avenue bar before he ran over 70-year-old Henry Brown on South Union Street near Buena Place back in June of last year. Brown was the dormant at Salinger's in the east end. Yaspania has five prior DWI convictions. He may also face deportation.

The repeat domestic violence suspect of the heart of a February controversy surrounding a city court judge has another day in court in his felony assault case today. 40-year-old Arritsa bin Bemi Nana allegedly fought with officers during a domestic violence arrest on Trier Street just after Judge Van White released him without bail in another case. That released spark criticism from Rochester police officials, as well as County Executive Adam Bellow. A separate misdemeanor case will remain before Judge White. Marty Casper News Radio, Wham, 1180. Dr. David Anderson has passed away. He was a renowned Rochester educator, storyteller, and scholar on the life of Frederick Douglass. Dr. Anderson was a lifelong civil rights advocate. and he, along with his wife, Ruth, were honored in 2024 when the Rochester school number 16 was named after them. Accused killer Luigi Mangione is expected to plead guilty to charges inside a federal courtroom in New York today. Mangione's lawyers and federal prosecutors are all staying quiet for now, but multiple reports say the two sides spent part of this week trying to hammer out a plea deal. Mangione is accused of gunning down United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson in Midtown Manhattan in December of 2024. Beatty calls the development a transparent effort to circumvent a court ruling. She says the board approved a resolution to add restored and renovated by President Donald J. Trump to the building. The board made up of a majority of supporters of President Trump's also approved plans to close the Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Center for two years for a major renovation sought by the president.
