46 segmentsThe lawyers asked us to read this. Rich Herrera is solely responsible for the opinions, the callers, the conversations, and whatever happens next. Management had nothing to do with it. Welcome to 9-3 Experiment. This is News Radio, WRVA. Okay, one thing I'm going to promise you in the 933 experiment, I am not talking about data centers and AI. Norm are going to talk about Dominion Energy and the merger. Don't call. Don't know. We're not going there today. I got something else I want to get off my mind. Something else I want to talk about something that might be a little bit more fun for everybody. Let's see. Super Dave. We've been talking about this this morning. It's on our Facebook page. Facebook.com slash news radio, WRVA. What do you say, RVA? Is the title of the post? Karoline Leavitt is leaving. And we can have a whole conversation about that at another time because I'm sure there's some that are going to make best decision you can ever make. Your kids are only going to be that big for so long, spend as much time with them as you can. There's others and are like, oh, look, she's not going to work anymore. That's what everybody wants to do. That's another discussion that I promise we'll have for you. But today, I just wanted to ask you, it seems like the White House press briefing. If you're a nerd like I am watching, watching cable news during the day before, you'd barely see the White House press secretary now. The White House briefing becomes carried live on all the cable networks because of the brawls they have in there, whether it was Jim Acosta, the first Trump administration, whether it was Peter Ducey going after Joe Biden. You have the CNN announcer going after Donald Trump. It becomes... It's voyeuristic is what it is. People want to sit and watch it because you just want to see the ultimate reality TV. So it's become reality TV. Here's my question. Who should be the next White House press secretary? I've got my ideas. Dave, yours was who? I said Dwayne Johnson. You said Dwayne the Rock Johnson giving him, you know. Caitlin Susan Collins from CNN asks a question, and all of a sudden the rock tilts his head, gives them the people's eyebrow, and just stares her down. I don't care what you think about that. I originally, you know, we've thrown out Stone Cold Steve Austin. I still like your idea of Gordon Ramsey. Gordon Ramsey. Donkey! Donkey! Just screaming at the press. Oh, and then just the look of disgust that he, when he yells at the chefs, he would be great. Phone lines are open right now. 833, 804, 1140, 833, 804, 1140 is the James River Air text line. And it's also how you can call into the program right now. We'll take your telephone calls. Dave will talk to you when you call up. Will you be friendly, Dave?
I'm always friendly. Okay, that's not true, but he'll be as friendly as he can when he calls. Dave, we're going to go look at steak later. That should make you happy. That's always great. We're going over to Tom Leonard's because they're having their big steak, their fillet sale today, 1299, 1290 or whatever it is, and they'll cut it up for you right there. So try to be nice to people. If you want, I'll stop and get you a Pop-Tart. All right, number for you to join us. Phone lines are open. 833, 804, 1140, 833, 804, 1140. Text, call, or you can now put it up on our Facebook page as well. Who should be the next? Oh. Sorry, somebody just threw something out and I'm completely thrown off face because this is the best one. Can't believe I haven't thrown this out yet myself. 833804, 1140. Phone lines are open. Adam Carolla for a press secretary. That would be a good one. That would be a great one. Somebody said Andrew Dice Clay. Wow. That's going back. Oh, someone said. I understand he's passed away, but I would love to see Sam Kinnison as the White House Press Secretary. Could you imagine? Yeah, Kinison would be good. That would be great. Somebody said, Clint Eastwood, go ahead, make my day. All right, let's go to Caitlin Susan Collins next CNN. You feel lucky today? That would be great. All right. 833, 804, 1140. Call in. Phone lines are open. Dave's answering phones. Then it'll tell me where to go. And then they're coming in hot and heavy right now in the James River Air text line. I had my top 10. And it's moving all over the place because people are throwing out some great ones on Facebook as well. My top 10 were Stone Cold Steve Austin, Charles Barkley, Kid Rock, Dwayne the Rock Johnson, Snoop Dog, Dana White, Shaquille O'Neill, Gordon Ramsey, Matthew McConaughey, Samuel L. Jackson, when we started all of this at 6 a.m. But there's been so, oh, so many that people have thrown out. There's a couple more that have come in. Well, we just got another vote for Charles Barkley. He couldn't come on the air with us. He said Charles would be a good one. And I agree with him. There's a big old woman at San Antonio. Charles, I'd like to know about the inflation right now, and families trying to feed them. So there's a big old woman at San Antonio. A couple more that have come in. Roseanne Barr has gotten quite a few. There was one I wanted to read you. Where is it? Where do you go? Matt Rife would be really good. Somebody said Stephen A. Smith, just screaming at everybody. Oh, this is it. You ready for the one somebody just sent me? Sophie Cunningham. Just have Sophie Cunningham stand there and point at the media member. Just do the point. Yeah, that's right. She is a good pointer. Yeah, just stand there and point. Just go like that and just like I'm pointing at the camera because we streamed the show on YouTube. I'm just pointing right now. The point, the Sophie Cunningham point would be outstanding.
Let's see who's next. We'll go to MS now. Yeah, I wonder why is the president Orange and she just stands there and points at them. That would be great, Super Dave. That would be great. Let me go back over the text line because now they're really coming in. Oh, all right. People say Dana Lash. Okay, Dana Lash would be one. But we're looking outside the box. Come on. Think. Well, Dana Luscher would probably have to take a pay cut to do it. Yeah, to do it. So I don't know if she wouldn't. Because she ain't going to get Anthony Fauci money. No. Like Anthony Fauci made $400,000 who's the highest paid government employee. She's not going to get Anthony Fauci money for doing that. I didn't know he was making that much. Oh, yeah. You didn't know he was the highest paid government employee. Well, the president makes $400. No. Does the president make $400,000? No, I don't think so. Congress makes $125 or $150,000 or something like that? All right, let me figure out what does the president make? You guys talk amongst yourself, 833, 804, 1140, 833, 804, 1140. I used to know this. You talk and now, I'll find it. All right, you don't look for me? How much does the president make? Because Donald, well, you know what? I can tell you Donald Trump doesn't take a dime. He donates his salary for this. I knew what it was, and I don't think, I don't, maybe you're right, Dave. I just want to make sure. Yeah, base salaries $400,000. Oh, he does, okay, $400,000. Plus he gets an expense allowance and that kind of stuff. But I'm talking just base allowance. Yeah, Trump doesn't take that. He actually donates it. All right, it's $400,000 per year in salary, paid monthly in a federal law. The president also received $50,000 annual expense allowance for official duty. So basically the package is $450,000. If you're president of the United States. It's amazing. We spent a billion. Kamala Harris spent $1.5 billion to try to get a job that makes $400,000 a year. Interesting. 8338041140, the number for you to join us. Who else do they have? Oh, this is the one that I was thinking of. And somebody just said it. Al Bundy. I think. I think Ed O'Neill would be great, but I'd rather him be Pritchard from Modern Family. To be the Modern Family Dad, as the Press Secretary, would be great. That would be fun. Somebody else said, Chris Berman from ESPN. All right, let's go to Back, Back, Back, Back, Back, Back to the end of the room. Okay, now Dave's telling me, shut up, a talk. All right, we're starting to get the telephone calls coming in. Let's go to Don online one. Hey, Don, who should be the next White House press secretary? You're on News Radio, WRVA. How about Amanda Bines? Amanda Bines. The actress? Isn't that the jeans? What's that? Isn't that the jeans girl? No, no, no, that's Sidney.
Sidney Sweeney is who I mean. Yeah, Sidney Swinney. Amanda Binds is an actress, but Cindy Sweeney is the one who did the good jeans commercials. Yeah, shit. I thought she was an actress too. Sidney Swine is actress. So you're right on. Yeah, but Sidney's who I'm thinking about. Yes, you'd be perfect. Yeah, you don't want, are you trying to get me in trouble here, Don? If I comment one way or the other, I'm in trouble because my boss is listening and my wife is listening, but I do think you have a wonderful idea. Yeah, and have her wear the jeans every time. Are you trying to make people's heads explode? I'm just trying to get a reaction. I'm just, I'm right there with you. If you were here, I'd high five you. Yeah, man. All right. Hey, oh, by the way, can I just, can I put this little plug in while he's answering phone calls, Don? What are you doing a week from Saturday? A week from Saturday? The 22nd. I might be coming out there and playing. I might be coming out to Hutton and Hawking playing some golf. Oh, very good. Okay, so that's our golf. A week from Saturday is August 22nd. I am going to, I'm going to be grilling. All right. All right. So, you know, Tom Leonard's over on the West End? I was just over there, yeah. Okay, because they have the big sale today. I'm going to go over there and get some flames on the show's over. But TJ's got this big grill, seven-foot grill, and he said, Rich, I'll let you go out there and grill. So I'm going to cook Santa Maria-style tri-tip sandwiches. It's a sirloin cut with the fat cap on top so it renders into the meat. I'm going to be out there cooking. We're going to slice them, cross against the grain. on a roll with some salsa on top. It's something they only do around the middle part of the coast of California. I grew up with it. It's delicious. I'm going to grill them. We're going to serve them, sell them that day, and then the money I make from that. The proceeds we're going to give to reads across America. So if you're around, you want to come by and hang out with me, maybe you can help me grill or something. Well, I've got to go work on my golf game today. Yeah, you know what? I'm going to be out there for the golf tournament. So old Jeff Katz. Make sure you represent us well. All right, man. All right. Hey, you have a great day. Thanks, Don. Appreciate it. Don trying to get me in trouble. Like, hey, Sidney, I'd love to say, oh, Sidney. Be careful. Bossas are listening. I'm going to go to Allen on my two next. Hey, Alan. Welcome. You're on News Radio, WRVA. Hello. Yeah, I've got a good one from the past. Hank Kimball County Extension Agent from Green Acres. Say that one more time. Hank Kimball from Green Acres, the county extension agent. Oh, I was thinking of Hank. I thought it was Hank Haney, the one who would always come up and talk to Mr. Haney. I was thinking Mr. Haney when you said Green Acres. He'll work, too. He's the one who wants to sell everybody. Right. Hank Kimball or Mr. Haney.
Because, come on, let's be honest, it is kind of a theater of absurdity when you see some of those media people and they're asking these questions on both sides because it's just, hey, what kind of viral clip can I get? Do I ask real questions or am I just trying to make sure that I get somebody to pay attention to me on TikTok? Yeah, it'd be great for somebody to be asking questions. Like, who are you? Who am I? I don't wear my head. I don't know. Well, and you know what? Okay, so I've been in press conferences before I've never. I'm like, you know what, I should apply. They have one seat for new media at the White House press court. Maybe I'll apply for that seat. They've invited me. I just haven't done it. But I've been at plenty of press conferences where you sit there and. What happens a lot of time is, you know, if you cover whatever the beat is and you're there every day, you know the people, there's a relationship, and then every once in a while you'll get somebody who's never been there before, and they ask the dovest question because they have no idea what any of the rest of us have been talking about for the full year. Perfect. Perfect. I could be that guy. I could be that guy. All right. Thanks to the call. Appreciate it. A couple more. Dennis Miller. We've got a couple of those. His esoteric language would confuse everybody, I think. This is a good one. You ready? Super Dave. Cameron from Modern Family. Eric Stone Street. He's hilarious. That would be great. Somebody else said, Stephen A. Smith, then he just yell at everybody. He'd yell at everybody. I'm not sure I'd enjoy that. Morgan Freeman, just looking, would be pretty good as well. It's got to Pete. I'll like the one. Hey, Pete, welcome. You're on News Radio, WRVA. How about Ann Hester from Sanford and, son? So somebody had thrown that out, and Dave almost fell out of his seat. Ann Esther from Sanford and Son would be outstanding. Absolutely. Listen, sucker. Yeah. That would be a great one. That would be really, really good. Or how about Danny DeVito from Taxi, Louis De Palma? Oh, that'd be good also. Because he wouldn't be able to see over the, he wouldn't be able to see over the lectern, and then he would just yell at everybody. He just see the top of his head. Sheldon from Sanford, I mean, from the Big Bang Theory.
Or the young Sheld, work with me here, the young Sheldon, they would just look at everybody go, that question makes no sense. That would be... You have a great day. I enjoy your show, buddy. Thank you. I think you're on to something right there. Oh, all right, there you go. You keep answering the question on our Facebook page, Facebook.com slash news radio, WRVA. Dave, I think we need to start doing the, what do you say, RVA question during the show. I had fun with that today. All right, that's going to wrap up our program for today. What am I going to tell everybody? Dave, I'm exhausted. The only thing keeping me going right now is I'm going to go get a flay mignon. Yeah, we still got work to do. We got to get flays. We got to go to the track. We got to go down there. That's a full day right there. Wow. All right. I better go get you some Pop-Tarts as well. I'm going to have to stop at the convenience store on the way home. For Pop-Tarts? Yep. I think we get Pop-Tarts before we go to the track. Are we going together? Are you going to make me drive? Of course. Okay. You know I'm a bad driver and you're still going to make me drive. Oh, you just want to save gasoline. No, it's your wife that says you're a bad driver. I don't think you're that bad of a driver. Okay, good. Then I'll drive. And I've never felt unsafe while you've been driving. Yeah, I'm very safe driver. She just says I drive like a little old lady. She drives like Mario and a lady, but you're getting there. Yeah. Today's program is brought to you apart by Freedom Services of Training the Biggestle Gunstore and Town Located Mechanicsville. Tomorrow on the program, tomorrow on the program, let's see, Governor George Allen's going to stop by the program. I haven't caught up with him. in a week, so we'll talk with Governor George Allen. That's going to be fun. Dave Saunders will come by and we'll get everything to do in Richmond over the weekend. Also, oh, Greg Warren's coming on, right? The comic? Yes, he'll be on tomorrow.
