This involved pairing the Chinese with U.S. citizens who were paid 100 grand to become fake spouses. Todd Blanche says the Chinese nationals got green cards after the marriage. The attorney general also confirmed that the DOJ's anti-weaponization fund no longer exists, reiterating what he said under oath that he rescinded it.

As columnist Matt Margolis notes for PJ Media, they're trying to rebrand themselves as moderates. They're trying to pretend that these candidates aren't so out of whack. They're just normal people with normal ideas, and that just simply isn't the case. It's not the case, and it can't happen. The easiest strategy that the Republicans will have is using these candidates' own words against them. They're radical views to speak from themselves, and that should do most of the heavy lifting. They're banking on the public being too stupid to understand inflation. They're spending on 2020, 2021 that was even advice against it by their own advisors that they went ahead and did, created this mess that we're in right now. Political writer Luis Gonzalez says they're hiding their failures behind the affordability term and they can blame whatever phantom they want, but they dug the hole. They couldn't find enough people to blame it on when in fact they were advised that they would create this problem before they actually did it. Yeah, the interesting here, mostly men play these games. So there's going to be a gender disparity. As a human woman, are you concerned? First of all, thank you for calling me that. It is 532, and our top story, here we go again. The mainstream media totally ignoring a success story that's unfolding from the Trump administration. The White House Anti-Fraud Task Force recently announced the discovery of $230 billion in fraud and more than $50 billion in new fraud prevented. Yet the three major networks devoted zero coverage to the story. DePaul University Media Studies Professor Jeff McCall says there's no way they missed this. It is worth noting Vice President JD Vance thought this topic about fraud was worthy of an op-ed that he wrote for a major newspaper. And that alone should be enough to merit coverage by the Big Three broadcast net. The network blackout of the story not only included their nightly half-hour newscasts, but their daily two-hour morning shows as well. Corey Olson, News Radio 740, KTRH. And we just had 11 other people arrested in a marriage fraud scheme involving the Chinese, so there's that as well. Now, before leaving on August recess, the Senate passed a funding bill. Cameron R. Kand with Townhall.com says, theoretically this would keep the government funded until December. Here's the problem. The House has to get on board. They had passed their own Republican-backed continuing resolution. I don't really see a world where it would be contested, especially with the White House's backing at this point of the Senate version of the bill. Yeah, the deadline for new funding is September 30th. Meantime, President Trump says Iran is all talk and no action when it comes to negotiations to end the fighting in the Middle East. Trump went on to say that the naval blockade of Iran is, quote, being called by everyone a wall of steel and there is nothing Iran can do about it. Amid the latest blockade, Sentcom says they've redirected 59 commercial vessels, disabled three and boarded two. Meanwhile, Iranian state media reports that Iran claims control of the Strait of Hormuz, but what is clear is that ships are staying away. Data from Kepler shows that yesterday only 14 ships transited the strait way below the pre-war average of 130.

30 ships per day. Max Gordon reporting. Two U.S. military members are dead after an Apache helicopter crashed north of Austin during a training mission. Bell County Sheriff's spokesman Cliff Coleman says they still don't have specifics about the training. It was a military helicopter, but I didn't specifically ask that question to criminal investigation division of Fort Hood. He adds it was a violent crash with the record sparking a fire that led to evacuations. 534 a win for gun rights this week as a judge blocked enforcement of parts of the National Firearms Act. The NFA was originally passed as a tax bill, but now that tax is zero dollars. So is it really a tax? The federal judge is doing what Congress should have done when they zeroed out the tax. They should have just said that these were no longer items regulated by the NFA. Chris McNutt with Texas gun rights says this is something the Texas legislature has worked towards for years. We passed the bill to decriminalize short barrel firearms and the state of Texas in hopes these NFA restrictions would no longer be in place at the federal level. He added that this should also help clear up the legal gray area when it comes to suppressors in Texas. Ethan Buchanan, News Radio 740, KTRH. Looking at your money this morning, Dow futures are up 113 points. The inflation numbers from July show that the annualized rate of 3.4% went down. from the annualized rate we had in June. A new report finds that nearly 7 million Texas households were priced out of buying a home as insurance costs went up. Economist Dr. JD Vance Ginn says Joe Biden's overspending didn't help things. Which contributed to another round of increases in inflationary pressure in the housing market. He says we need less government to loosen regulations. 535, another three school districts, including Leport returning from summer break today, Tombole and Pearland returned next week. Paying your bills, that's always the top priority for any budget, right? I saw this. I've heard a lot of different formulas, but a lot of people seem to like this 50, 30, 20 rule. as far as budgeting. 50% of your income to pay for your necessities, the things you absolutely have to pay, 30% for your wants, the things I want to do but are not critical that I do them. And the 20% is what you're supposed to save. See, I would reverse the order, though. I would pay myself first. I mean, that's the other thing they say. Pay yourself first, right? So if you decide you want to save 20% of your paycheck, then you put aside that 20% and then you make sure that the other things don't prevent you from doing that. Now, as far as what they put into wants and needs and all that good stuff, you know, the needs are things like housing, utilities, groceries, insurance, transportation, your monthly payments. Preferably not on a credit card, but on, maybe you've got a home equity line of credit or something along those lines or a car loan, things that you have to pay. And anything else that's an essential living expense. Under the wants, and this is the area that I always don't do well in, dining out, entertainment, travel, shopping, streaming services, and other subscriptions.

And anything else that would come under the term discretionary. In other words, you don't have to do it. It's just something you want to do. Then the 20% is pretty obvious. Now, not everybody can do that. There's also, you know, some people who think that a more realistic goal is to go with more like a 70, 2010 kind of a thing. 70% go to your bills, 20% going to the things you want to do and the 10% going in the savings. The critical number is the last number. You know, for teaching any young person about budgeting, I think that's the most critical thing. You have to pay yourself. You've got to save. And most of us don't really learn that lesson until we're a little bit too late to really be an effective saver. 540, time for traffic and weather together. What's got, Sky Mike? So this Iranian thing has got to come to some resolution. Good news on the inflation front for Trump today. A whole bunch of things are cutting his way and Republicans' way because of the lunacy, and I mean that word literally, on the far left. This hung person doesn't want Thanksgiving. This is what she's telling her constituents in Wisconsin. You can't have Thanksgiving because we're such an evil nation. We shouldn't be thankful for anything. I mean, once you get into that zone, the regular folks, not the ideological zombies, okay? They're not going to go for you. Doesn't matter what party you're in, okay? So no one can predict, things will change. I don't believe the American public are going to buy the socialist communist lunacy. And that's hopefully what happened in Wisconsin, although it should be pointed out. that the losing margin for the socialist was less than 1%. So she may not have won. New numbers from HPD show that between April and June, police contacted ICE more than 100 times after coming across people with immigration wards. Six of those people were taken into ICE custody. Heidi Byrick, who served as the group's chief financial officer, is accused of helping funnel more than a million dollars in donor funds to a confidential informant to infiltrate a neo-Nazi organization. I'm repulsed by the story because under no conditions should this ever happen. But a new high school teacher in Houston ISD. at Wheatley High School, his name is Darius Williams, has posted. Now, what have we been in school? Two days? He said he couldn't get through the first class of the second day of school before his students' poor literacy skills were just too much for him to handle. He said, I just finished a three-hour class, and I literally broke down in the middle of class. He recorded this evidently during his lunch break on Tuesday.

He's a new education system career technical education staffer. He said he gave his class full of seniors two paragraphs to read and asked them to complete another sentence he had practically filled out for them. He filled out everything but the last four words. But was left stunned when they couldn't finish the task. He said, I basically completed the sentence for them. These are 17 and 18-year-old kids. And they couldn't fill in four words, four words. I gave them the scenario. I gave them the answers before we even had the problem, and they couldn't do it. I don't know. I simply don't know where the problem is. This is only day two, and I have seniors who simply cannot read and seniors who cannot write. They cannot write. And he's shocked. And I'm sure disheartened. And I guess my question would be, are you shocked? Disheartened, of course. How do you get to be a 17 or 18-year-old senior in any high school and you are not proficient at basic reading and writing? But we hear these stories all the time. This is an education system that continues to pass kids along. Especially problem kids. Problem kids, the quickest way to get to the next grade is to be a problem child if you don't want to study, if you don't want to learn. Because they'll pass you long, so they'll have to deal with you every year. But we simply have to stop doing this, don't we? Are we doing a service to anybody by graduating kids who cannot read or write? How do they fill out their test forms? How do they do the basics needed in order to be able to graduate? They can't. And there's no way the school doesn't know. There's no way they don't know. Love to hear your thoughts. Go to the IHRRH, KTRH, first name where you're calling from. What are the minimum requirements we expect from anybody who graduates from high school? I would hope that we would expect that they can read and write, even if it's not at... grade level that they can at least read and write these kids may be good at rational he said they're good at they can argue they can they can support their argument they can rationalize they're not stupid they just haven't learned how how to read or write 6-10, time for traffic and weather together. I want to know, do you think they're dumber now? That's what I like to hear from people. Do you think kids are dumber now than they were in our day? Because we had dumb kids in our day too, right, Jimmy? Oh, well, you had kids that don't think we had dumb kids. We just had kids that don't apply themselves. So that's what's going on here. They just, for whatever reason, they don't care. It's probably wrap. And the system just passes them along. Let's hit the toll bridge now. This is an overturned southbound. But if we're having a hard time getting the job done with the instructional hours we have now, how much more difficult is it for a four-day week? Or is this the future? If you look at it, it is mostly smaller districts that have done this. And you're right, it seems to be driven by adults who are looking at this from a teacher shortage. How can we hire teachers? How can we keep? To your question, I would say in the 10 years that we have done this since the bill started passing in 2015, Texas to implement. four day weeks pretty much because we went from a 180 day requirement now to look in at 75,600 minutes too. So that allowed the shift to happen. And since then we have, like you said, close to 200 ISDs out of roughly, you know, just over a thousand that have done this. But if you look at it in terms of students, it's a still small percentage. Between two to three percent of Texas's, you know, 5.5 million public schools are. in a four-day week too. So, you know, that number has steadily grown to close to, you know, 200 ISDs or, you know, about one in seven here in Texas. But I would say the data is inconclusive. We, when I talk to superintendents and principals, they have seen marginal to no student achievement gains because of this. And they really haven't seen a whole lot of cost savings in terms of, you know, are we leaving the lights on less? Is it fewer bus routes and that sort of thing, too? A lot of them do use the buildings for professional development. So in terms of cost savings, I would say they're negligible, but to your point, we're keeping teachers. A lot of the ISDs around the Houston area, in the Liberty County area, for example, too. They're very small districts, and they see this is an opportunity to appeal to teachers. Okay, so it's not saving us any money. We're not seeing any appreciable difference in student performance. It really comes down to just one issue, and that's teacher retention.

From my perspective, it's just about the teacher retention issue. I think one other area that it does help is with professional development because you do have a day where teachers are still under some sort of contractual obligation. And a lot of cases they're able to have, for example, that Friday as a professional development day, as a former principal, I know how hard it is to schedule in this time. So what that does give is a little bit of flexibility. for that too. But we are not seeing huge gains in student achievement. We're not seeing huge gains in cost savings. We're not seeing a whole lot of attendance issues or gains either, too. So those are the things I look for in terms of data. How are our students, student, student achievement, cost attendance. I can see how it would help with burnout. But you know, the complaint, Dr. Starrett that I hear all the time from teachers is they sense a lack of support. From the hierarchy, from their vice principals, their principals, from their superintendents, they feel like they're kind of out there on their own, that they, in an order to try to keep parents pacified, management in schools is always concerned about just keeping the parents happy or keeping them from complaining and not worried about supporting the teachers. Lack of support is the biggest complaint I hear about. It is true. And Texas does, like a lot of states, have a teacher retention issue too. Right before the pandemic, we were seeing about 10% leave on average. Around the high of the pandemic is closer around 13%, maybe 14%. Now it's back to about 12%. So in other words, we're still having replaced about one out of eight teachers every year. So, you know, attrition is a key. point to what you're saying, yes, we have got to find ways to support teachers when they are there and we got to find ways to hire really good teachers. So if you're a teacher and all things consider the salary is the same and you're looking at two ISDs, two independent school districts side by side, one is a four day week, one is a traditional five day week, that suddenly becomes a piece you can weigh in between. Like, do I want to go where I can have some flexibility in my time? So, again, it is a teacher attention issue. Okay, Dr. Starr, thanks for your time. Appreciate it. They stated that any suppressors that were made in Texas and stayed in Texas were not subject to NFA regulations. The ATF quickly sent out a notice to all FFLs across Texas saying that they would not recognize that law. Chris McNutt with Texas gun rights says this is a great step towards cleaning up the legal gray area here, protecting the Second Amendment. Looking at your money right now, overnight futures are up across the board. The inflation numbers from July, by the way, showed that the annualized rate of inflation was down from June. That said, nearly 7 million Texas households have been priced out of homeownership by the rising cost of insurance. Texas housing has climbed almost 75% due to homeowners insurance since 2009, according to a new report. Economist JD Vance Ginn says America was coming off a housing market crash and the Obama administration began pumping up the economy. With a lot of new regulations, government spending, money printing under the Obama years. Ginn says less government regulation can lower insurance costs. What we're seeing is too much government control over the housing market and too much influence. He says removing those hurdles will increase affordability. I'm Erica Smith. As college costs rise, more students are choosing shorter programs tied directly to the workforce. Trade school enrollment jumped 10.2% this spring, while master's enrollment declined. I'm not sure that when I was a kid that I liked the color green. Well, you can hide like zucchini in like vegetables and stuff. I mean, it's a prep thing. Different segment, but we can blend zucchini into sauce. We can use spinach and meatballs. But you said meatballs are okay. You got a nice setup here. It's a beautiful setup. This is our. leftover lunch bento box. We're going to get there. But I want to talk about the lower sugar, higher fiber jam. You could buy this at any grocery store. You just want to look at the label and make sure that there's no sugar added. But Ashley, you may get it at home, which I'm so impressed. Yeah, you can make it from scratch too, and you can make it in batches and the kids love it. And if you get them involved, they're more inclined to eat it also. Tell us really quickly about eggs. You said we're saying we're from eggs, but only for one particular reason. Well, eggs are totally fine. There was a small recall on a certain batch of eggs. So you just want to go to the USDA or the FDA site. And if you're worried you have that batch in your fridge, look at the, look at the details in your fridge, reference it with what's on the USDA. But typically, if you buy local, which you do, you're totally fine. And small, like educational sound bite. Organic. Organic. Okay. Okay. What you want to see? That's enough of that. The demand will just go straight up. And, you know, I live very close to Canada right now. And we see Canadians come across a border to get health care here in Michigan. And we don't have to do, we don't want to have to do what they have to do and have to get in a long line for something that we can just. walk right in for right now. Yeah, why would you? An HISD teacher is going viral for revealing that some of his students, 17 and 18 years old, literally can't read. He's a 17 and 18-year-old kids. And they couldn't fill in four words.

Four words. Darius Williams on Instagram in a statement to a local TV station, HISD said, quote, we know some students enter high school significantly below grade level. In helping those students accelerate their learning is among our most important responsibilities. Close quote. This is one of the largest marriage frauds prosecutions in United States history. Attorney General Todd Blentz said nearly a thousand sham marriages took place. Over the last 10 years, the scheme involved pairing the Chinese with U.S. citizens who got 100 grand to become fake spouses. Todd Blanche says the Chinese then got green cards after the marriage. Todd Blanche also confirmed that the Department of Justice's anti-weaponization fund no longer exists. 705, the socialists took a hit this week when Francesca Hong lost the Wisconsin governor's race, but conservatives said the threat of socialism is far from over. I'm thinking Dave Dudley knows a little English 724 here in Houston's morning news. All right. The Texas House Transportation Committee taking up a big hearing, as I said, coming up on Monday. They're going to talk about foreign holders of commercial drivers licenses, CDLs. Terry Hall joins us, founder and executive director of Texas turf, which stands for Texans United for what's the rest of it, Terry? Reform and freedom. There you go. Reform and freedom, not to be confused with turf companies that sell artificial grass. Correct. Welcome to the show. With transportation, yes, well, thank you. How big of a problem, I think Texas was really one of the first states to really get on board as far as checking these CDLs for these foreign drivers, weren't we? Absolutely, because Secretary Sean Duffy, who is the Secretary of Transportation nationwide, actually did an audit and found that Texas is one of the top five offenders of issuing these commercial driver's licenses to foreign drivers. So, obviously, being the only red state on that list, you could bet that Governor Greg Abbott jumped into the fray very quickly and stopped issuing the CDLs to foreign drivers. But the problem still remains. What happens with all those that they've already issued them to? And we've seen a 17 car pile up in Austin killing Texans. So this is a huge problem. It's a national problem, but it's also a Texas problem. And it's not enough to just stop issuing them. They have to go back and do some enforcement actions to hunt these folks down. And they really just need to be, if they're here illegally, They need to be deported. I think a lot of people would be surprised to hear that, Terry. I think they probably assume most Texans assume that in addition not issuing them anymore, they were going to revoke the licenses of people who didn't qualify. That's not what's happening. But states like Oklahoma and Florida have been very good about enforcement actions. They actually are going after the people revoking their licenses as well as working with ICE to deport them if that's what's needed. So, you know, this is dangerous. This is not about the public safety issue. If somebody can't read or speak English well enough to be behind the wheel of an 18 wheeler that can have 85,000 pound loads on Texas highways. That is a weapon. It is very, very dangerous, and it is killing Texans. And Americans across the country, it's a problem that needs to be dealt with. And I'm grateful that the House Transportation Committee is going to take it up on Monday. Well, assuming that they do the right thing, and we start revoking those licenses. Florida has already done it, as you said, Florida has been very aggressive about doing that. But there are still other states that you know are not. California issues just tons of CDLs. And I know that I know. Yeah, and I know that the Transportation Secretary, Sean Duffy, has been trying to play hardball with states like California. Has he been the least bit successful?

You know, it's always hard to do hardball with California and New York when you have the kind of governance that they have out there. But no, I don't think we're getting very far, although I have to say he is starting to put some teeth in it with taking some of their federal transportation money away. And maybe that's what needs to happen in Texas for us to finally go after these guys and revoke their licenses. We shouldn't be any different just because we're governed by a Republican governor. How do we get in this mess to begin with? I guess they always like to blame a shortage of drivers, but is that what the real problem was? No, I really think it goes back to all the way back to NAFTA, honestly. You know, we've been opposing these foreign drivers on our roads for a long time back when they had the Mexican trucking program start under Bush 43. Okay. All right. Do we find that... this has caused any particular issues for the trucking industry themselves. They've been kind of quiet about all this. I think they just kind of looked, they kind of looked in the other direction for a long, long time. And they thought, okay, well, this is keeping us supplied with the drivers that we need. And as long as this continues to happen, we'll just kind of keep on going on. But now the pressure I would think is on them as well. It sure should be. You know, even in New York, let's take that as an example. They actually issued one of these licenses that said driver had no name, like no name given. So some of these trucking schools that are issuing these licenses also are part of the problem. And when you're issuing it to somebody that doesn't even have a name listed, we have a problem, a big one. So I don't think there's even proper vetting going on. I don't think there is English proficiency being tested. They're just handing these things out like candy. And, you know, I have a lot of teen drivers that come online. I've got 10 kids, so I've got a new driver every two years. And I can tell you how they grill and put these teams through. I mean, it's crazy what they put the teams through to make sure that they're safe to be on the road. And yet we're going to put these foreign drivers behind the wheel of an 85,000 pound truck and unleash them all across America's highways. Well, we've seen what the damage is. We have people that are dying because of it. So it is a huge problem. It's the trucking companies that want the cheap foreign labor. There's the other, you know, trucking schools that get out these CDLs. like candy, and then you've got government that looks the other way that's not revoking them and acting like they've solved the problem. So I think that the House putting some light on this on Monday is going to help pressure the governor to go back in and start revoking the licenses of those that have already been issued. A new report finds that nearly 7 million Texas households were priced out of the home buying market last year. Economist Dr. Vanskin says Joe Biden's overspending didn't help, especially with rising insurance costs. Which contributes to another round of increases in inflationary pressure in the housing market. He says less government is needed to loosen regulations tied to buying a home. Overnight futures this morning are up. 119 points on the down. Inflation numbers from July showing that the annualized rate of 3.4% ticked down from where it was in June. We've got three more school districts, including Laporte ISD, coming back from summer break today. Tom Ball and Pearland returned next week. Only one local district, that would be Crosby, has gone to a four-day week. That's not the case, though, in many other parts of the state. Around 180 districts have made the switch. They're mostly small and rural district. Professor Belstrand at Baylor says that having Fridays off is a sales tactic to attract teachers who want a day for professional development. We're seeing a slight uptick in teacher retention, so it's helping that teacher turnover as well. But he says the jury is still out on whether this is cheaper or good for kids. Four-day weeks are so new in Texas, there's not enough data to show an impact on test scores. That's KTRH's Michael Board. As for institutes of higher learning, family spent an average of $34,000 on college last year. Enrollment in trade schools jumped more than 10% this spring. The beautiful part about trade schools is a lot of times people are able to be learning the trade and working at the same time. Jim Dunton with the Texas Home Improvement Show on KTRH says the jobs are there and the federal numbers back it up. 734, here we go again. The mainstream media totally ignoring one of the most most noteworthy success stories of the Trump administration. The White House Anti-Fraud Task Force recently announced the discovery of $230 billion in fraud and more than $50 billion in new fraud prevented. Yet the three major networks devoted zero coverage to the story. DePaul University Media Studies Professor Jeff McCall says there's no way they missed this. It is worth noting Vice President JD Vance thought this topic about fraud was worthy of an op-ed that he wrote for a major newspaper. And that alone should be enough to merit coverage by the big three broadcast networks. The network.

Amid the latest blockade, sent com says they've redirected 59 commercial vessels, disabled three, and boarded two. Meanwhile, Iranian state media reports that Iran claims control of the Strait of Hormuz, but what is clear is that ships are staying away. Data from Kepler shows that yesterday only 14 ships transited the strait. way below the pre-war average of 130 ships per day. Max Gordon reporting two U.S. military members are dead after an Apache helicopter crashed north of Austin in a training mission yesterday. Bell County Sheriff's spokesman Cliff Coleman says they still don't have specifics about what the mission was. It was a military helicopter, but I didn't specifically ask that question to criminal investigation division of Fort Hood. The record sparked a fire that led to evacuations.
