President Trump announced the move on social media, adding Levitt will be a trusted outside advisor and an influential voice inside the Republican Party. Levitt recently returned to the briefing room following the birth of her second child. In a statement, she says since her daughter was born, she's felt she cannot be the best mom or two young children deserve while devoting constant time, energy, and attention required of the White House press secretary. A replacement has not yet been named. This is New Hampshire Today. Trump went on to say that the naval blockade of Iran is, quote, being called by everyone a wall of steel and there is nothing Iran can do about it. Amid the latest blockade, CENTCOM says they've redirected 59 commercial vessels, disabled three and boarded two. Meanwhile, Iranian state media reports that Iran claims control of the Strait of Hormuz, but what is clear is that ships are staying away. Data from Kepler shows that yesterday only 14 ships transited the strait way below the pre-war average of 130 ships per day.

Trump claims that Iran's military in leadership have been severely weakened by the war, though an alleged Iranian plot against the president forced a secret plane swamp after last month's NATO summit in Turkey. Where the Granite State turns to get all the latest news and information. This poll shows longtime Republican Senator Susan Collins trailing Democrat Troy Jackson 48 to 46 percent. That is within the poll's margin of error of plus or minus three percentage points. It reverses the lead of 50 to 47% that Susan Collins had on former Democratic nominee Graham Platner. With each party staunchly backing its nominee, the current separation may come from independents who in this poll favored Jackson, 46 to 42%. Another factor could be the state's opinion of President Trump, 39% favorable, 59% unfavorable. Now, you Hampshire today. Good morning. This is New Hampshire today. I am Chris Rod. I'm joining us for the show, this hour of the program, presented by New England College and NEC.edu. Karoline Leavitt, New Hampshire native, Sanez grad, making the decision to step aside as White House Press Secretary after a year and a half on the job. And the reasons she gave? Good one. She wants to spend more time with her family. Obviously, she just gave birth to her second child and wants to focus on family instead of a role which takes up all of your time and energy. And to me, that's, you know, refreshing. That's, you know, an individual in such a high profile position would turn away from the intoxicating power of that position and say, you know what? I want to spend more time with my family. And I think it's a good lesson for everybody to spend more time as a mom, dad, grandpa, grandma, aunt, uncle, whatever your role is. And to step away from some of the intoxicating elements of our society. So good on Karoline Leavitt. for that. Here's more now from Fox's White House reporter Jackie Heinrich. President Trump announcing one of my most trusted aides, Karoline Leavitt, will be departing her role at the end of the month so she can spend more time with her beautiful young children and family, a decision I totally understand and respect. Leavitt became the youngest press secretary in history, taking on the role at 27, and later also became the first woman to hold down the demanding job while pregnant. Leavitt called the decision bittersweet, but said President Trump has asked me to continue serving as a top advisor to him on the outside. My fight is entering a new phase, but it is far from over. So going back to the 2022 congressional campaign and that Republican primary, then the race against Chris Pappas. Something that was really clear to me from moderating the debates to our conversations here on the show and through the years is that Karoline Leavitt was a huge talent and that she could do basically whatever she wanted in politics or media. Just has that ability. And we're going to see that obviously progress here moving forward.

where she can go into a political advisor's role. She could go into a role at Fox News. She could do her own podcast. She could do all these things basically at her will in the time schedule that she wants. And then, you know, later on in her career, she could run for governor here in New Hampshire. She could run for Congress again, run for U.S. Senate. All those things are on the table for Karoline Leavitt, who has the... good mix of talent and ambition. But taking a step back when it comes to an ambition to, you know, to have family time and to be the best mom skimmy. So that's pretty... Pretty cool story that she is stepping back and from the intoxicating power of being the White House press secretary or trying to do better than that and continue to move up the ladder. And is saying, no, I want to be a mom at full time. You know, mom instead and kind of pick my spots in terms of where I'm going to go from here, an advisor's role, media role, wherever that may be. Patriots tonight open up the preseason. We will not see Drake May. out there but one of the dynamics that we will be watching is the Patriots wide receivers where there's a lot of them and a lot of talents a lot of top end talent a lot of depth talent and who is going to do what and how does Drake May go about trying to keep them all happy he says he's not too concerned with keeping them all happy he's concerned with running the team I asked him about that at Patriots training camp Yeah, on Tuesday. The amount of weapons that this group has and other challenges in that as well as the quarterback and trying to make sure that everybody's happy, everybody's engaged, everybody's getting the football in addition to obviously all the positives of the different groups you can put out there. It's, I think it's the best thing, you know, for that is winning. I think nobody really. You know, try us to complain when you win games. And I think nobody's, you know, really, you know, that, you know, prideful in this sport about, you know, personal stats or achievements when, you know, we're winning games. So that's our job as a team and, you know, come together and try to win games. So that's the biggest thing that coach is preaching. And, you know, we're trying to, you know, be second voices of him and knowing that, you know, protect the football team and, you know, do things the right way. But, no, I think. You know, my job isn't to try to make everybody happy. You know, I think my job is to have the offense, you know, move up and down the field and score points. So the Patriots have. As I mentioned, a number of really good wide receivers. Guys are capable of being number ones. A.J. Brown is a number one. Kishon Booty is right there. Romeo Dobbs, a number one. Mac Susan Collins, great depth receiver. Kyle Williams in his second year has shown promise. Demario Douglas was the number one wide receiver for this team in some of the down years. And Eftum Chisholm, the third looks like, you know, the second coming of Wes Welker and Julian Edelman, perhaps. So.

9:14

A lot of depth at that wide receiver room. Eptem Chisholm, we'll probably see him tonight. And he talked about the Patriots joint practice and the competition within the wide receiver room on Tuesday. How do you feel like the offense came out of today? What impressed you? Yeah, I thought we did good. You know, I thought we played hard. You know, that's kind of, we're trying to, you know, build that identity. And, you know, I think every year's a new year, so we can't just go off of last year's identity. So just try to build a new one and continues to strive to try to build. I think that's what we're trying to, you know, we're still trying to figure out. I think it's trending in the right direction. But, you know, that's up to us to, you know, kind of figure out and for, to put on display so everyone can see. How would you describe the balance between the wide receiver room and also, you mentioned, relationships and. Yeah, I think that's kind of the cool thing we got about our room is that, shoot, everyone cares about each other. You know, obviously, we all know it's a competition at the end of the day, but we all want to see each other succeed. So when we see each other making plays out there, you see everyone celebrate. And I think that's the cool thing about this room. And is Afton-Chisholm the third here on the show. I am Chris Ryan. This is New Hampshire today.
