The U.S. Soccer Podcast. I'm your host, Megan Klingeberg. And after interviewing so many dudes during this Men's World Cup, I'm so happy to be back with my U.S. women's national team players. I know the U.S. men's national team has changed how I think about myself, how I think about being an American, how I think about being on a team. It's one year out from that World Cup, and we're going to talk about the brightest prospects in U.S. soccer. You ready? I'm ready. Let's do it. The U.S. Soccer podcast. Presented by Henko. Follow and listen on your favorite. So who is ready for Woke 2.0? I don't know. We call it Woke XP, Woke Beta or something. Woke 2.0. Apparently is the thing being talked about. I'll have to discuss this. This comes from something Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez said, OX said, about Woke 1. You know, Woke 1 being crazy. You know, the Democrats. In some ways, I've been asking this since 2024. I've been asking have the Democrats learn their lesson because I really believe that President Trump was elected mostly as a rejection of the radical left. And really on the cultural issues, that was kind of the big one. A lot of the woke madness in the culture, cultural Marxism, too, is why Trump was able to win more than just people voting for him, they voted against the radical left. So the question was, will Democrats learn their lesson? Well, the answer is yes and no. What we're seeing is a shift towards economic Marxism now. They believe, well, we'll get back to the cultural Marxism later. And we'll just start preaching economic Marxism, socialism, because of affordability and everything else. And so that's radical too. That doesn't work. And we have to explain that. But, of course, the Republican Party needs to explain that. Two conservatives need to explain that. And unfortunately, there are some Republicans and some on the extreme right. They just believe in economic fascism. So in Europe before World War II, you had the communists facing off against the fascists. There were both forms of socialism, and they were both wrong. The real answer is individual liberty and free markets. So we'll discuss this. We actually have a pretty busy show today here on Yaffe Live on The Talk Monster. Also coming up with the show of the Tennessee Bullet Points, it looks like the incline has been saved for now, which is good. I guess look how Mountain has not basically killed the incline. But they're still trying to kill the gondolas. Don't forget that. That story came up too, but all of other details in the bullet points. The bottom of the hour will speak with Steve Abramowitz. He's with the Hartwayne Journal. And by the way, he's got a new show on Saturdays here on WGOW FM 7 a.m. It's called America the Beautiful. So you can listen to it on Talk Radio 102.3 at 7 a.m. on Saturdays. New show, so we'll let him promote that. But he wants to talk about the elections yesterday, specifically in Wisconsin, where the Democrat Socialists actually lost. And it was kind of a surprise to a lot of people. She was a dang bad. Yeah, oh, yeah, but she was up. In a big way. Yeah, and she was up in the polls by double digits, so it shows the polls were wrong. But, you know, it's funny because.
In some ways, it's good news because everything you said is true, Max. But Republicans really wanted her to win because they think she'll be easier to beat in the general. Yeah, well, and that may be so. But we'll find out. Who knows? But we'll talk about that. Quake, we'll come in for our sports monster segment of the day. It's been kind of our countdown to football when he comes on the show, basically what we talk about. Yeah. In the next hour, I will speak with Cameron Smith. He's a columnist for the Tennessean. You can read his stuff at Tennessean.com. We'll talk about the latest in Iran. Still in this economic warfare. We have shifted from actual warfare to economic warfare. I still not sure it's going to work to get them to cave on the Strait of Hormuz. But we'll talk about that. Then later on, Christopher Reed. He's going to join us a day early. He's host of the Daily Controversy. Often my felon host as well. He wanted to react to the elections yesterday. So he's going to join me about 235, won the show with the Effie's Monster Rewind. We always take your text messages on the text monster. 423-2671023. 423, 2671023, sponsored by Warner Griffin, Chattanooga's largest injury law firm, reminding you to never text and drive. Captain Max is here as well producing. Max, how are you, sir? I'm very well today. Okay, good. You believe that? Maybe, maybe, I don't know. I just talked to you right before you went on the air. I wasn't, you know, I thought maybe we, you know. I'm okay, but the cats had it. I thought you felt better. You know, you talked to me, you vent it out. You know, I did vent a little bit. I was going to say, if you work somewhere and you have trouble with your email. It's the company email. I've been here almost 12 years, and they just can't seem to get it right. Yeah, it's been causing you all kinds. And it has something to do with, like, you're under two different names or something. And they fixed that part, but on my phone, I got a notice that I needed to do some training. So rather than look at it on the phone, I go to my computer here in the studio, bring up my email. It's nowhere to be found. But somehow it's on your phone. Yeah. So I don't know what they're doing. I don't understand what's happening. And apparently they don't know what they're doing. I was going to say you were explaining it to me, and I was like, I don't know. I'm confused. Is that why there's a hole in the ceiling? Did you punch a hole in the ceiling over here? No, I think on the rain. You know, we've got a flat roof on this building. I thought maybe you threw the hammer. You always talk about the hammer? Yeah, well. You just threw that at the ceiling. You know, when I don't need this job anymore, I shouldn't say that. I was going to say, I mean, you didn't accidentally bump into it. No, no. You're not tall enough. No, that's about four feet on my head. Okay. All right, ready to hear about a. Woke 2.0? You're ready for Captain Red? I'm already frustrated. You know, my blood pressure is going to be. All right, this came up. I actually have some stuff you'll like here. Okay. I'll make you feel better. But this came up because Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ock, she was on ABC this week, and she had mentioned.
woke one is what she called. And this one viral. So here it is. She's moved away from it. And I have a local city councilman that has this saying, woke one was crazy. And I think that what's important is that we have to assess what a candidate is saying. Did the movement go too far with some of those positions? I mean, you briefly supported the idea of defunding the police. Well, you know, I think. I think that during this time and during, especially during COVID, there was a huge opening of the overtime window. We were shut down. There was some of the highest unemployment rates that we have seen because of those shutdowns. And I think that the doors were really open in trying to entertain any and every policy that was going to get us to a better place. Okay, I won't torture you anymore, Max. That's... Yeah, defunding the police. Put you in a better place. Right. A grave. Exactly. But then, you know, I'm the voice of reason of Tennessee, but I got to play a cut of here from Scott Jennings, the voice of reason of CNN. You'll like this better. He kind of responded. Did some of this or here's what he said. So I noted Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's comment this weekend, you know, Woke 1 was crazy. Let me introduce you to Woke 2, Electric Bugaloo. This is the craziest sequel in the history of politics. If you think what they were selling back in 2020, abolished police or defund the police was crazy, now it's abolished police, abolished prisons, abolish border, abolish the U.S. Senate, which really means abolish the U.S. Constitution. And it gets even crazier. abolish Thanksgiving because fundamentally they hate what the United States of America stands for. You cannot have a conversation about affordability with voters when you're out there saying, you know, this country really is rotten at its core and it needs to be ripped out, root and branch, which is exactly what these democratic socialists are doing. You can make all the happy, smiley videos you want, but until you solve the crazy problem of all of these supposed hot takes, How do you ever break through to average voters who are just looking for something normal? And the Democrats are saying, best we can do, cancel Thanksgiving. What do you say? That sounds a lot. Now, the person who was talking about canceling Thanksgiving... She got beat. Yeah, she got beat. So we can have Thanksgiving this year? I guess so, yeah. I mean, you know, Dale hates Thanksgiving. You know, did you know that? Well, Dale ain't normal. Actually, he doesn't mind Thanksgiving. He just doesn't like the food. He hates, I don't know, he's the only person I know who doesn't like Thanksgiving food. Well, like I said, that boy is normal. But outside of that, yeah, she ended up losing, which is a big deal. But what we're seeing Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez do here is she's trying when she wants to run for president. And she's trying to become more of a quote unquote moderate. But we have to understand the mom donies of the world. They're still radicals. They just are becoming radical on the economy right now instead of on the culture. They will say anything to get elected. Well, that's true, although Zohran Mamdani does more than say it. He implements some of this stuff. He is. I saw yesterday a big sign up in New York that it said something about moving to Florida. Oh, really? In New York? Yeah. Yeah.
So I do think, though, that Republicans need to do more than just run against the left. Because there is one area where the Democrat socialists are almost right. There's a grain of truth to what they're saying in that the status quo is not working as well. We actually do need reforms in this country. We need reforms in our government. Bold change can be a good thing. It's just it needs to be in the other direction. That's the problem here. The socialists are right. We need bold change, but they're wrong in the change that they want to implement. They're going in the complete wrong direction. And I wanted to read some of this from the National Review, the editors here. Make a really good point on this. They say conservatives and libertarians, more than anyone else, should understand all the ways modern government makes it harder to make ends meet. They should share and express the voter's anger and try to direct it toward constructive channels. rather than the dead ends of big government liberalism or worse democratic socialism. If stickier prices are high, that is in part because the Federal Reserve has expanded the money supply too much. Conservatives ought to insist on restraint here, especially when it comes to government spending. They continue on. The high cost of housing, especially in economically booming regions of the country. It's a significant challenge for young people starting their working lives and thinking about starting families. The chief culprit is over-regulation via zoning, building codes, and run controls, especially in some deep blue jurisdictions. Conservatives should call attention to that over-regulation and where appropriate and sometimes a coalition with non-conservatives who see the potential on markets to address this problem. They talk about health insurance here. The expanse of health insurance eats into paychecks. Conservatives should advocate lifting regulatory barriers to the sale of renewable insurance policies that protect owners from the risks of high medical costs. Additionally, the higher education cartel has become an expensive choke point to economic opportunity. While the Republicans' big tax bill last year made some progress in reforming the student loan programs, much more can and should be done to dismantle that cartel. It says many Republicans will unfortunately bulk at breaking with Trump on trade. But they ought at least to refrain from dismissing voters in happiness with prices as mere Democratic talking points or attributing it to their being spoiled kids. Unless that is, they want the voters to conclude that keeping Republicans in office is unaffordable too. So the point here that I'm trying to make is the Democrat socialists are destructive, dangerous for the future of the country. They're moving on to economic socialism, but they are tapping into something that is real for a lot of people. And we do need some bold reforms in our country and our economy, but we have to have an alternative vision that points us in a better direction based on private property and free markets. And that's what needs to be done. And Republicans in a lot of cases are not doing the best job of that. If you want to weigh in, you can. We have the tax monster. 423-267-1023. 423-267-101 coming up next all the Tennessee bullet points. Steve Obramowitz will join us at the bottom of the hour. This is Yepy Live.
