I'm Tennessee's Voice of Reason, Chattanooga's conservative conscience, and once again, we have a jam-pack show for you today. You know, I believe it was you, Max, told me the story yesterday, where I guess the state of Florida put up a billboard. In New York City, right? Yes. Is that what it was? I need to look up that exact story because do you remember what it said, what the billboard said? I don't remember exactly what it said, but it alluded to the fact that New York was doing a great job on getting people to move to Florida. It was really helping them out with their population. I mean, that's kind of true, isn't it? So to speak. Absolutely true. They're leaving in droves. Yeah, let's see. Let's look this up real quick. We have a lot to talk about. I do have to get into something. Speaking of New York, where Zohran Mamdani, now he wants to go after Amazon. So it's not enough. Man dummy, dummy. Man dummy. Cammy Donnie. We should have, yeah, let's rename him. Man, that's, it's funny. I can't believe I haven't heard of that one yet. Mam dummy. But yeah, now he wants to go after Amazon. But this is, you know, even though it's something that is affecting New York City, it could affect us here. I mean, you had the Chattanooga plant that ended up being unionized, the Volkswagen plant. When I was going after Amazon because he wants to team up with the unions there to give more power to the unions in New York. So, okay, I did find the thing real quick. We're here, by the way. Zohran Mamdani trolled Florida as Economic Developer of the Year. Yeah. He's doing a great job for Florida. So they put up a billboard. It says Florida Economic Developer of the Year, Mayor Zohran Mamdani.

Thanks for the jobs. The Florida Chamber of Commerce. You know, Tennessee could do this, right? I don't see. Yeah. Welcome to Tennessee. Leave your politics at home. I was about to say, I was wondering how you were going to react to that because, you know, in one sense, it's like, yeah, we're much better than New York. We could see why people would want to live here outside of New York City. But, I mean, you always say we're full. You don't want anything to encourage most of them to come. Well, I think we need to do like they did, you know, when all the people came from other countries, you check them, you make sure they're not sick, you make sure they work. Even at the state level? Yeah, yeah, yeah, I don't see a problem with that. If you're going to be from Tennessee, you're going to have to become a Tennessean. You know, it was a... It was kind of funny because, yeah, when I tried to move here, Max stood at the border of the state and he said, no, sorry, Yaffi. You got to live in Georgia. Nope, you can work here, but we don't want to live in. Yeah, right. It's like, but maybe I want to live in Tennessee and you're like, nope, nope, get to Georgia, yaffy. Okay, it's not really good. Your children are welcome at any time. Oh, okay, they can live here. My wife, too, but I have to live in Georgia. We can just work here. We can indoctrinate those two kids. It's not a problem. Oh, man. So also coming up on the show, I will get into that story of what he's doing now, what he's trying to do anyway, in New York City when it comes to Amazon. I mean, it doesn't matter what business you want to do. He's going to go after it. He's going to try to either tax it or put it out of business or make it harder for you to do business, whatever it is. That's basically what's going to happen. I don't understand what that man's thinking. Well, I mean, we're not communists. So, of course, we don't understand. We'd have to be communist. Well, here we go back to common sense, but you can't run all the businesses out of your city. Yeah, I mean, you said yesterday maybe he just doesn't last. I mean, there has been a backlash. A little bit of a backlash already on that. So we'll talk about that. We will have more Tennessee news with the bullet points. That's coming up in a little bit. One of the stories I have, the gondola debate, the great gondola debate continues. Oh, man. Oh, was there something you saw? No. You just assumed? Okay. Yeah, you know. Well, the Times Free Press, Rock City's kind of fighting back a little bit. Yeah. Against those who are against the gondola. So I kind of wish we could have. Can we connect a gondola from my house to the station? I guess I grew up at a different time, but if you own property. Yeah, what are they to try to get in the way of that? Yeah, yeah. You know, let them build what they need to. I mean, as long as it's not a definite detriment to the community, I mean, you wouldn't want to, you know, a cat house up there or anything. You know, it's funny. Maybe you would want a cat house up there. Well, I was going to say, I was about to say no, though. That's a whole different thing. There's a cat cafe. That's a kitty cat house. By the way, that place is awesome. I went in there once. It's been a while. Did you sneeze when you can't. Well, yeah, my allergies. We talked about that, so I can't go too often even though I have cats. But that place is something else. By the way, when I got home yesterday, I did not kick our cat.

6:23

I was talking about it, but no, I know better. You always threatened to, but we know you're here. That's how we know. You're here today. The lovely Linda would take me out if I kicked her cat. I mean, yeah, you're actually at work today. So that tells us you didn't kick the cat. You got it. Either you would not be here or you would be a. in some kind of cast or something with black eyes or a big hole in my head right exactly um so yeah speaking of tennessee news and politics we'll speak with brandon louis he's the founder of the tennessee conservative what kind of recap some of the elections that happened last week since he'll be on we'll get his take on you know who won who lost what that means for the future of the state quake will join us for our sports monster segment of the day That's coming up. In the next hour, we have the propaganda press and the Democrat Party. Once again, trying to fuel an incident into us hitting ice. They're trying to get us to hate ice. Another incident out there. Video that's gone viral. And I'll be a voice of reason on that. We have to talk about the latest in Iran as well. That will come up. I have something that made yaffy laughy. That's always good. I've done one of those in a while. That's a good one. Hey, if we get some of those gloves that I have now, can I try that side on you and see how they work? On me? Yeah. How about on Dale? Well, you know. You know, I will say, you know, I could use a pair of them. To keep you guys in line around here, I could use a couple of those gloves. Yeah, well, yeah. You know, I'm not sure how much of it will work on Jed or J.R. or Dale or you, but we can test those out, those shock gloves, as they're calling you. Bless your soul. I feel so, sorry. Hey, by the way. I'm getting way off track here, but Jed came in carrying a 30-pound bag of cat food while I go. Why? This cat that's outside at the station. There's a cat out there? Yes, there's a cat living under the building out there. Oh, there is? I haven't seen that. Yeah, well, they can't get it to come out. Interesting. Well, yeah, I'm sure it's scared. You know, Jed's been feeding it, so. Oh, I have to say, I've done that. It won't. I've done that with straight. I've had cats that I've taken in before my past. You know, we'll come in and it'll be 49 raccoons out there eating with it. You know what I saw yesterday? Crossing the road out here by the station? No. A beaver. I actually saw a beaver. We've got them out here in the pond. I've heard. In the great swamp behind the radio station. I have heard there are beavers around here. Never actually saw one until yesterday. It was crossing the road. Yeah. There were a couple of deer out there yesterday, too. I don't know. I don't know what the animals were running away from yesterday, but they were outside the studio. I'm not sure what they were worried about. Maybe they're the show. I don't know. They're fans. Is that what it is? They're fans of the show. Yeah. Okay.

So let's talk about what's going on here, I guess, with Zohran Mamdani. The Wall Street Journal has a good thing where it says, Zohran Mamdani wants to deliver Amazon to the Teamsters, which is the union. It says sooner or later in today's America, if you're successful in business, you will be targeted as guilty of some alleged political sin. It doesn't matter how many jobs you create or what services you provide, ask Amazon. On Monday, New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani endorsed the Teamsters-backed Delivery Protection Act. Now, this is introduced by the Democrat Socialists of America and the council member Tiffany Caban. The bill would force Amazon to reclassify subcontractors and workers in its delivery network as employees. It could also potentially hit those of other delivery companies such as FedEx. The Teamsters and its left-wing alleys are using New York City to test drive the ban on subcontracting. So as I mentioned, this is something they hope to take nationwide. When you're talking about union pushes, yeah, it's happening in New York City. They want to test it there, but they want to push this nationwide. So let me play a little bit that Zohran Mamdani put out a video on all of this. Apparently we're mad. What amazes me about this, you're going to hear people in this video. And they're talking about being subcontractors. They themselves are subcontractors. They're wearing an Amazon vest. They're subcontracted out to do deliveries. And yet they go on this video and complain about it. And I'm on thinking, I'm like, I guess those people don't want to have a job? Like they're working the jobs themselves. What do you think is going to happen? You get rid of subcontractors? You think Amazon's just going to bring you on? Full time. That's not really how it usually works. But here is this. Special delivery. If it looks like an Amazon delivery. And it drives like an Amazon delivery. Then it's an Amazon delivery. Amazon is spending millions of dollars to convince you that this isn't an Amazon delivery. But all you have to do is see for yourself. My uniform says Amazon. If I don't wear this Amazon branded vest, disciplinary action will be taken against us. The workers' routes and hours are set by Amazon. So why isn't Amazon responsible for these vans? Because Amazon and other corporations have built a vast network of subcontractors that shield them from responsibility. Amazon tells these subcontractors where to drive, who to hire, and what hours to work. I do all the work that makes Amazon all the money. This is why I'm proud to support the Delivery Protection Act, sponsored by Councilmember Tiffany Kalan. Because if Amazon is delivering your packages, they should follow the same rules of every other delivery. When injuries and worker accidents skyrocketed, Amazon says they have nothing to do with it. They can't have it both ways. By shielding themselves behind these so-called independent operators, this trillion-dollar company is able to avoid regulations on our city streets. And that's why we want to pass the Delivery Protection Act. So they're going to pass a law that gets rid of subcontractors is what they're doing. Now, the Wall Street Journal put it this way. They said the Teamsters and its left-wing allies are using New York City to test drive the ban on subcontracting.

12:44

which they hope to take nationwide. Mr. Zohran Mamdani's office says Amazon and others use subcontractors to shield them from responsibilities, which leaves workers vulnerable and corporations free to avoid accountability. Wall Street Journal says that's a misdirection. Amazon's last-minute delivery network relies on some 40 subcontractors, which employ more than 5,000 workers. The sophisticated network is what can get the goods you order to your doorstop in hours. And it provides flexibility for workers who have irregular schedules, such as college students and home caretakers. Amazon requires its subcontractors to provide full-time employee health coverage and pay time off. Subcontractor drivers earn on average roughly $24 an hour. Many subcontractors offer additional benefits, including tuition assistance. Not only that, but the subcontractor businesses are small businesses. 25% are owned by black or Hispanic entrepreneurs. 10% are veteran-owned and 10% are graduates of a road to ownership program. So this is what this reminds me of. is you had Volkswagen, remember in Chattanooga, offering a pretty good deal to employees. And the union still said it wasn't good enough and wanted to hold out. So now you have people that work for Amazon as part of a subcontractor complaining, what are the thing going to happen? This bill's going to pass. And all these people are just going to be out of work? Is that the solution? Is that what they want? It's amazing. The more and more you attack business like this, you go after subcontractors now and you think, oh, yeah, well, that's not going to hurt business. Amazon will just stop doing last-minute delivery in New York. That's what they're going to. The price of everything you have delivered is going to go sky high. That, yeah. Well, yeah, or are they going to raise the prices? It's exactly right. If you want to weigh in, you can. We have the text monster, 423-2671023. 423-267-1023.
