Major tech companies, including meta, Amazon, and Google, have told Governor Greg Abbott they're committed to incorporating his data center standards. News 887's Natalie Weber tells us more. Governor Greg Abbott is pushing for data centers to pay for their own infrastructure and bring their own water and electricity to Texas. The governor issued a temporary pause on data centers last week, calling for an audit of these projects. It's a reversal of the governor's previous stance after he called Texas, quote, the epicenter of AI development in November. Several major companies have issued responses saying they're embracing the governor's data center standards, and some say they already comply with the directives he's issued. The governor touted their responses as proof that his actions to rein in data centers are working, just days after President Trump criticized Texas, saying it was anti-data centers. I'm Nadley Weber, News 887. In state representative and Democratic Senate candidate, James Talarico spoke at a rally at the Pasadena campus of Sanderson O'Colle College Sunday evening. News 887's political reporter Andrew Schneider says Taloiko leaned heavily into his populist message as he touted his plans to address affordability. Tullerigo argued the nation's affordability crisis was the result of decades in which wealthy individuals and corporate special interests had corrupted politicians in both parties. and rigged the rules of the economic system in their own favor. It is time for us to come together across these manufactured divisions and take on the people at the top who have been screwing us over for far too long. Because the real fight in this country is not left versus right. It's top versus bottom. James Talarico called for hiking the minimum wage, rolling back tax breaks for the wealthy, and canceling medical debts, among other economic measures. I'm Andrew Schneider, News 88-7.
