From NHPR News, I'm Joe Bainline. Democratic candidate for Governor Cindy Warmington has taken to social media to defend her past lobbying work for Purdue Pharma, the maker of OxyContin. NHPR's Josh Rogers reports. The video features Warmington speaking directly to the camera, asking voters to see her work decades ago, fighting legislation to tighten prescribing standards for OxyContin as serving the interests of patients. I was fighting for patients to get access to the health care that their doctors thought that they needed. What I did not know at the time was that Purdue Pharma was engaged in this massive criminal fraud. Warmington says if she knew that then, she never would have represented Purdue. But that work has been a flashpoint in both of Warmington's runs for governor. Democrat choice Craig highlighted when she beat Warmington in the primary two years ago. And this year, Governor Kelly Ad's campaign has hammered Warmington's work for Purdue at every turn. Josh Rogers and HPR News. Two major celestial events will hit New Hampshire sky. Today, WBUR's Amanda Beeland has more on what to expect when you look up. New England will see a partial solar eclipse this afternoon, starting around two. Kelly Beattie with Sky in Telescope magazine says don't look at it without eclipse glasses. Or he says you can use this trick with a pair of binoculars. Cover one side. Let the other side be open. Put them on a tripod, point the binoculars at the sun, and let the sunlight stream through and shine that light, not on your eye, but onto a card. And you'll get a very nice image of the partially eclipsed sun. Then tonight, starting around nine, Beatty says you can watch the peak of the Perseid's meteor shower. As the sky gets darker, you'll see more meteors, roughly one every other minute. For the New England News Collaborative, I'm Amanda Bland. We should have pretty good skies for those events.
