Live from NHPR News, I'm Julia Barnett. The New Hampshire ACLU is renewing its legal fight against the White House's latest efforts to limit birthright citizenship. President Trump signed an executive order last week that said federal agencies would not recognize the citizenship of a baby if one parent is deemed, quote, an alien enemy or employed by a foreign government. It comes after the Supreme Court rejected a different Trump order that sought to limit birthright citizenship in June. ACLU attorney Sang Job Kim has been part of the legal battle since it started last year and was in court this week seeking to halt the latest Trump order. We filed a motion to stop the enforcement of the second executive order because the second executive order is unconstitutional. It's not certain when the judge will rule on the ACLU's motion. New Hampshire Democrats are marking the 91st anniversary of Social Security by telling voters that electing a Republican to the U.S. Senate will lead to program cuts. Former U.S. Senators John E. Sununu and Scott Brown are running for the GOP nomination in next month's primary. Concord State Rep Mary Jane Walner says Democrats will be reminding voters of the two men's records. I can't say for certain whether it'll be Sununu or Brown's name on the ballot, but I know that Medicare will be on the ballot, Medicaid will be on the ballot, and Social Security will be on the ballot. Sununu previously sponsored a bill to partially privatize Social Security, but is now campaigning on a promise to preserve benefits. Brown has said he's open to making long-term changes to entitlement programs and Social Security.
