Police say someone slashed a 38-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman on Hudson Avenue near Pulaski Street shortly before 8 last night. Both victims are expected to survive, and no one has been arrested. Dominic Chicorelli News Radio, WAM 1180. Three Roaches men charged after two of them shot each other. Police say 45-year-old Earl Wright and 26-year-old Sincere Lane opened fire on one another last Friday during an argument over marijuana and a home on Newcomb Street in the city's northeast side. Both men are recovering and both facing gun crimes while Wright is also charged with assault. 51-year-old Fondale Henderson is also facing a gun crime for allegedly hiding Lane's gun.
Two people are under arrest after a large crowd through bottles and RPD officers. Police say it happened late last night on North Clinton Avenue, ranging from Upper Falls Boulevard to Avenue D. It took several hours to break things up, and there was another mass gathering a few blocks away at Morrill and Remington Street. A couple of people there fired several shots hitting nearby cars and a home. No one was hit by the gunfire. So far, no arrest related to that gunfire. A Rochester man who admitted to a fatal shooting on the city's west side sentenced to 20 years in prison. 37-year-old Terrence Wright pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter last month. He admitted in court to gunning down 36-year-old Richard Gullwitzer in the wooded area off Orchard Street in May of last year. Police believe the shooting was drug-related. Dave Smith, News Radio West. 1180. A Rochester man who admitted to a fatal shooting on the city's west side sentenced to 20 years in prison. Greece police have charged a man with assault and another man was critically injured in an attack on Wood Road yesterday evening. Make that Wednesday evening. Officers found 53-year-old man unconscious. Police followed evidence to a nearby home on Mason Avenue, where they arrested 46-year-old Sean Warwick. Police continue to investigate, and anyone with information... is asked to give them a call. A woman who took a plea deal in her seven-year-old son's death is due in court today. 28-year-old Sianna Badger pleaded guilty to criminally negligent homicide back in February. Her son Akeem was hit by a U-Haul truck and killed while trying to run across Westridge Road in Greece against the light back in July 2024. Badger was given one year of interim probation. If she completes that, she can withdraw the plea and plead guilty to only child endangerment and have to serve two more years of probation. That process was expected to begin this month, but the prosecution and defense are still working through pretrial motions. Picking a jury could take a month or more, likely pushing the expected start of testimony from October to much later in the fall. Peyton Gendron is already serving a life sentence on state charges for the mass shooting that killed 10 black. people, a conviction in the federal case could result in a death sentence. In an early Friday release, the offices of Governor Kathy Hochul and State AG Letitia James announced a suit calling Calci an illegal gambling operation. This, after a pair of federal court rulings this week against the online prediction market that cleared the way for New York's suit. The state AG says Calci is not a licensed gambling venue and lacks age restrictions. President Trump announces that his Board of Peace has reached an agreement with Hamas on a phase disarmament plan for Gaza. Fox's Madeline Rivera has more. The president saying this agreement is a critical step towards Gaza finally being governed by a new Palestinian government that will work closely with the Board of Peace to help the Palestinian people. At the same time, Israel will have the security it deserves with Gaza no longer use as a base for terror attacks. The president says the agreement will be carried out in structured phases. As Hamas gives up their weapons, the Israeli forces will withdraw. The international stabilization force will then work with a new Palestinian police force. to keep Gaza safe. If the plan comes for fruition, it would Marco Rubio major milestone in the 20-point Gaza peace plan, President Trump unveiled last October. In the meantime, President Trump is suggesting you could poll Todd Blanche's nomination for Attorney General. In a post on Truth Social Thursday, Trump said he has no objection to temporarily withdrawing the nomination if senators John Cornyn and Thom Tillis do not do the right thing. John Cornyn and Thom Tillis both have expressed reservations about confirming Todd Blanche over Trump's proposed anti-weaponization fund.
Trump's post came after the Senate Judiciary Committee postponed a vote on Todd Blanche's nomination that had been planned for Thursday. John Cornyn responded to Trump in a post on X, saying, POTUS is mistaken if he believes concerns about the provisions in his tax lawsuit settlement are limited to me and Thom Tillis. I'm Mark Nefield. A Trump administration is ending a Medicare subsidy that could result in higher drug prices. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid announced an end to what was supposed to be a temporary subsidy for Medicare Part D that kept prescription drug costs lower. While Democrats criticized the decision with Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer calling it cruel and heartless, Dr. Mehmet Oz, the CMS administrator, said the subsidy was costing $3.6 billion and the money was just being funneled to insurance companies. That in the end, most beneficiaries would see an increase. of less than $10 a month, but he points out that getting most favored nation status for many drugs has reduced costs more anyway and notes the recent promise made to get seniors GLP1 drugs for $50 a month. Amazon shares are jumping after the company's cloud computing revenue ramped up for a fifth straight quarter, but the e-commerce business still generates the biggest share of revenue. An online sales surged 15% to just over 70 billion beating estimates. If you're an Amazon customer, then you might be in line for refunds. Amazon is pledging to automatically reimburse consumers after getting about $600 million in tariff refunds in the second quarter. Apple shares are lower in pre-market trading after competing. Opponent shortages weighed on the company's sales forecast, but Apple's biggest moneymaker, the iPhone, was a bright spot last quarter. Police say hundreds gathered along North Clinton Avenue between Upper Falls Boulevard and Avenue D, throwing bottles and officers and taking hours to disperse. A second gathering near Morrill in Remington streets turned violent when gunfire was reported. Several shots struck nearby cars and a home, but no one was reported injured. No arrests have been made in connection with the gunfire. Rodsterband, who admitted to a fatal shooting on the city's west side, sentenced to 20 years in prison. 37-year-old Terrence Wright pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter last month, admitting in court to gunning down 36-year-old Richard Galwitzer in a wooded area off Orchard Street in May of last year. Police believe that shooting was drug-related.
Greece police have charged a man with assault and another was critically injured in an attack on Wood Road. Officers were called for a report of a fight Wednesday evening and found a 53-year-old man unconscious and seriously injured. He was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital and was in critical condition Thursday. Police followed evidence to a nearby home on Mason Avenue where they arrested 46-year-old Sean Raphael Warnock. With the state ready to legalize physician assisted suicide next week, Bishop John Benici of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Rochester urging Catholics to oppose the law. In a letter to the faithful Bishop Benici says every human life is sacred and he calls on parishioners to respond with compassion, prayer, and support for vulnerable people. He also wants them to support those facing serious illnesses through hospice and palliative care. It is set to go into effect next Wednesday. She says gun dealers are on notice as state responds to the rollback of several Biden-era rules that expanded background checks at gun shows and other venues outside traditional gun stores. Bad actors who think these new federal changes will give them cover to sell guns to anyone without a thorough background check. A background check is everything. Kathy Hochul says state police will ramp up on-site compliance inspections at all gun dealers, and that she plans to introduce legislation requiring all gun sales in New York to be conducted face-to-face. Recently, the governor and the Attorney General sending letters to 12 sheriffs across the state saying they have to terminate cooperation agreements with ICE. Madison County Sheriff Todd Hood received one of those and tells her Bob Lansbury that he remains defiance. They can't tell me that I can't cooperate with another agency. they can get rid of the written agreement. You know, they make that illegal. We're still going to make the phone calls when they come in. We're still going to work with them. Hood, who is running for a lieutenant governor with Republican Bruce Blakeman, says a lawsuit to block the state law has been transferred to Buffalo from Albany. The U.S. declared the disease eliminated back in 2000, thanks to high vaccination rates. The numbers have dipped below 95%, which is considered necessary to prevent outbreaks.
