All across the great state of Iowa, where it is the Simon Conway Show, it is Thursday, July 30th. You are very, very welcome in. We like to call it's Friday Eve, of course. Lots to celebrate today. It's National Chili Dog Day. Yes, National Chili Dog Day. And you could, you know, that could be dinner. That could be dinner. And then it's National Cheesecake Day. Dinner and dessert. I mean, come on. It's also a national father-in-law day, and all the way from Pensacola Beach in the great state of Florida, my father-in-law tunes in most days. So happy national father-in-law day, David. And I got a good one. He's a good one, so I'm very, very happy with that. Yesterday in the Oval Office, imagine, by the way, if your father-in-law was the president of the United States. I mean, there's some ladies in the Trump family that have that. There, of course, is Ivanka's husband, Jared. He has that, that's his father-in-law. I hope they're all celebrating Father-in-law Day with President Trump today. I hope they all send him a card or at least send him a message. Meanwhile, in the Oval Office yesterday, the president weighed in on the whole ridiculousness of Anthony Fauci. Well, the only thing you can really think about is the auto pen because the most powerful thing the president has, they say, is the power of pardon. So he was pardoned by Biden, and I respect that. I know how powerful it is. It's very powerful. They say it's literally the most powerful thing a president has. Now, whether or not I sign my things directly, almost everything, I sign directly. You're witness to many of them. He signed very few. The only thing I know that he signed was Hunter Biden's pardon, but I'm not sure that he signed. He probably didn't sign this one. So I can't tell you what the law is. I've heard that you have to have a lot of proof. You need to have letters. You need to have all sorts of things that the person operating the auto pen has to know exactly what it's all about. He didn't know what it was about because I saw him testify. So maybe there's something on the auto pen other than that. The power of pardon is very powerful. So there is President Trump talking about the power of the pardon. And hopefully you guys will all pardon me because I forgot to give you the word. Yes, I did. Gas prices. These grocery prices are cost of living. Inflation. The cost of everything going up. Escape. Get away. Always. Your inflation vacation is booked with a thousand bucks. Chances to win every weekday. And three times on this show, right now I need you to take the word rich, R-I-C-H-R-I-C-H-R-T, take that to the website of whatever radio station you are tuned into. Enter it where it's obvious. If the phone rings within the hour, pick it up. If it's us, you won $1,000. If it's not us, you made a new friend. That's pretty much how that works. Okay, let's get back to the president right now. So that was the start of his conversation in the Oval. And then he went on to, well, you know, he inherited Anthony Fauci. Well, I watched the whole thing today, but more importantly, I was a part of the whole Anthony Fauci. I inherited Anthony Fauci. He was here from the 1980s, so I had him for a period of time.

6:28

And I disagreed with him on a lot. I would have had it closed down the whole country if I listened to him. I went the Federalist way, which is basically let the governors decide. And generally speaking, the Republican governors did very well. The Democrat governors did not very well. But Anthony Fauci wanted to have nobody wearing masks, if you remember, and then everybody had to wear five masks, as many masks as you could get. I mean, it made a lot of mistakes. He wasn't a big factor for me. He was a very big factor for Biden. And if you remember, even though we were sort of prime time in terms of that whole disaster of COVID, far people died fewer in the Trump administration than in the Biden administration. We ran. We were in it. Well, Operation Warp's need was talked about as being one of the great success stories anywhere in the world, actually. And we did a good job. But many more people died under Biden than died in the Trump administration from COVID. COVID was a disaster, but Anthony Fauci did not help. There you go. Anthony Fauci did not help. I think that's absolutely true. And, of course, Anthony Fauci repeatedly lied to us. About so many things. And, you know, gain of function is a big one. Because gain of function research is literally illegal. What that is, hey, here's a nice little cold virus. Let's see if we can make this into something big and nasty. Send it to the lab. That's literally illegal. And then it escaped the lab. Everybody knows that. We're not idiots, but they thought we were idiots. No, no, no, didn't escape the lab. Somebody in China in what's called a wet market bit into a dodgy bat. Come on. Nobody believed that, really? Even the Democrats that said they believe that. They didn't believe that. Nobody believed that. And then, of course, I mean, there's some stuff that is truly spectacular because, of course, there is the time when Anthony Fauci went door-knocking, right? And Anthony Fauci went door-knocking in Harlem. And he was thought he was in very, very pleasant territory. And he was trying to get people to get the shot. Well, that didn't work out too well either, did it? The people in America are not settled with the information that's been given to us right now. So I'm not going to be lining up taking a shot on a vaccination for something that wasn't clear in the first place. And then you all create a shot. And miraculous time. It takes years to create vaccination. Well, it used to take years. Okay. You know how many years were invested in this in this approach? About 20 years of science to get us to be able to do it.

9:33

And nine months is definitely not enough for nobody to be taking no vaccination that you all came up with. The only reason I'm talking to you right now as close as we are is that I've been vaccinated. Right. But if... Now, let's just pause that there because remember the only reason, the only reason I'm talking to you this close is because I've been vaccinated. Except it wasn't a vaccine. A vaccine is you get the shot, you don't get the thing. That became, that's what she basically just said to him. I've had the shot. I'm not going to get the thing. If you got the thing, I don't care. I've been vaccinated. I'm not going to get the thing. Except that too was a lie because it wasn't a vaccine. I'm not editing this. I am backing it up a little bit and then we'll continue. The only reason I'm talking to you right now, as close as we are, is that I've been vaccinated. Right. But if it allow thousands of people like you don't get vaccinated, you're going to let this virus continue to percolate in this country and in this world. Something like the common flu then, right? And it's much more serious than the flu. Well, the flu kills a lot of people. You know how many people died of the flu the last year? I mean, not this year, virtually none, but the previous year. About 20 to 30,000. You know, how many people have done... You see that? Just like a 10,000... A 10,000 gap there. 20 to 30,000. How come that guy didn't have the number? By the way, I believe it was 36,000. How come that guy doesn't have the number? That's weird. Anyway, so that was the appalling doorstep thing, which obviously didn't go very well for him in Harlem at all. Not even a little bit. And then, of course, there is a Rand Paul. What's Rand Paul going to do about everything? Well... If you've been granted complete immunity, we didn't grant him immunity, but the president. President Biden granted him complete immunity with the grant of community, do you still need Fifth Amendment protections? Or do they apply? So, and telling that all he had to do today was tell the truth. If he testified and told the truth, even if he admitted to destroying thousands of records, which we think happened, there's no penalty that attaches. It would just be the truth. The courts will have to figure out whether or not, if you have a complete pardon, whether you have a liability against incrimination. Can you incriminate yourself if you have a pardon? I think it's going to be a question for the court. And of course there is the other thing, right, that we haven't mentioned. He gave a statement before he pleaded the fifth. We've had that case go down before. You can't do that. If you're not going to say anything, then you get to not say anything. That's it. 515-284-1040, 284-10-40. It's 417. We're all across the great state of Iowa, off and running on this Thursday. This is the Simon Conway Show.

13:03

News Radio. All across the great state of Iowa, it is the Simon Conway Show, and well, we're talking, we've been talking a little Anthony Fauci. The big question is, will he end up? going to jail. You heard Rand Paul saying it's going to be up to the courts, and it is going to be up to the courts. The first thing that's going to happen, well, actually, he may not even get to the courts, up to the DOJ first. So the first thing that's going to happen is the committee is going to find him in contempt of Congress. No doubt in my mind that's going to happen. They're then going to refer him to the Department of Justice. If the Department of Justice decides to prosecute him, and I think they might, then he will fade a... face a court and it will be up to the court as to whether or not he gets jail time. He should. You can't do what he did and then have a pardon going back to 2014 and then not answer questions. You can't. What color is the carpet in front of you? That was the real question. It's actually my favorite one from the day, I believe. And he pled the fifth. What color tie are you wearing? He pled the fifth. But he'd already given a statement. That is absolutely key. You can't start the day opening the mouth, flapping your gums, attacking people, and then zipping it. especially if you've got a pardon, especially if the only questions you were receiving were about the time of the pardon. On the text line, listening to Dr. Anthony Fauci saga the past few days, I've come to the understanding that the good doctor's wife was and is the manager of the agency, the doctor ran. Question, is this any way to run a country? No. No wonder nobody goes to jail in D.C. That's from Rick. The most important thing to a narcissist is saving face. That is Anthony Fauci's only goal. He would rather be prosecuted for contempt of Congress. That way he... saves face and can claim victim status a win. Simon, the best part about the rona shot is at first they said if you get the shot you can't get the rona and then when people are getting the rona after being vaccinated they said you can't spread the rona if you get the shot and then they had to come out and say well you can still spread the rona. They just lied to us repeatedly. And of course, the biggest lie was, hey, here's the vaccine. No, it's not a vaccine. It's a shot. And like the flu shot, sometimes it'll work. Sometimes it won't. Sometimes they got the mixture right. Sometimes they don't. That's the reality with the flu shot. The flu shop also not a vaccine.

16:15

So anyway, before we leave this particular subject, is going to get interesting. It should get interesting. The 111 times that Anthony Fauci pled the fifth felt like about 611 times to me. It was so ridiculous. I am absolutely amazed nobody was laughing in his face. I would have been laughing in his face. I'd have actually got up from behind my little... deus there and uh you know i wouldn't quite got in his face but i'd have got you know sophy cunningham pointing distance from his face that's that's how close i'd have got and i'd have just laughed at him i'd have asked my questions from there what color is your tie and i'd be staring at him as he pled the fifth did you notice by the way he read that a hundred and eleven times My goodness. We're supposed to believe he passed doctor exams? He read that sentence 111 times. Apparently he couldn't remember it. Astonishing stuff. Truly astonishing stuff. Meanwhile, before the president was done in the Oval Office, he was asked about Iran. In the meantime, we're going to be hitting them very hard because it's our term to hit them. They know it's coming. They're asking us not to do it, but, you know, they tried shooting it last night. So we had five rockets shot going 8,500 miles an hour, and all five rockets were knocked down to the ground. But they nevertheless took a shot, so it's our turn. And we'll see if we get there with an agreement at some point, but we're going to hit them very hard. There you go. That's what the president told us, and of course we absolutely did that. Now, right now, we have a new secret weapon as well, which has been unveiled to us. And it's called Hammer of the Gods. It's an upgrade to US power. And if we don't actually manage to do what we just did with five missiles last night, which was knock them down, this will make those missiles miss their targets. So if it gets through, it'll miss their targets. If you want to see what that looks like, it's up on my Facebook right now, Facebook.com.com, forward slash, simon.comway. 1776. Please do click the like button while you are there. Now, all this craziness happens in Washington, D.C. Coming up next, we're going to talk to Chris McGowan. He will be the next congressman for Iowa's fourth district. No one's going to argue with me on that, are they? No one's going to say, well, you know, it's an election first. The Democrat could win. I couldn't even tell you the name of the Democrat. He hasn't even reached out or she. Chris McGowan is going to be the next congressman for Iowa's fourth district. And I'm wondering what he's thinking right about now, looking at the insanity that takes place in that place. We're also today going to be talking to Brenner Bird, our Attorney General. Iowa had a big win today. A law passed in 2024 has been on the back burner due to an injunction. Well, that was lifted today and that law is now the law in Iowa. So we're going to talk to the Attorney General. And also is Bucke's going to sue somebody that appears to be playing with their logo.

19:46

We'll talk about that before today is done as well. It is coming up to 4.30. We'll make way for the news and continue the conversation after that. This is the Simon Conway Show. Des Moines News, traffic and severe weather station. It's the award-winning WHO Radio News on the Voice of Iowa. News Radio 1040, WHA. It's 430, 83 degrees in cloudy. I'm Eva Basinger. Here's what's trending on WHO. Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson has reportedly asked police chief Sean Barnes to resign. Claudia. Cowan has the details. The move comes after Sunday's mass shooting at the Bite of Seattle Food Festival, which was followed by intense criticism over the city's delayed public response to that incident. Barnes then faced additional scrutiny after a tense exchange with a reporter about his travel schedule. According to one report, Barnes has spent at least 47 days out of town this year. The police chief has also been out of town during the shooting. Testimony from first responders has been heard in the Lindsay Clancy murder trial. in Massachusetts, Clancy claims she was suffering from postpartum psychosis when she strangled her three young children in 2023. A Des Moines Man has been identified as the person found dead in Lake Hallis last week. Urbandale Police say the body of the 37-year-old was retrieved from the water June 24th. The medical examiner's office says the cause of death was drowning. His name was not released. Today is the National Whistleblower Day and Senator Chuck Grassley of Iowa is backing new legislation aimed at strength protections for whistleblowers nationwide. Whistleblowers who shine light on waste, fraud, and abuse and get back a lot of taxpayers' money as a result of knowledge they know that would never be known if they didn't report it. Chuck Grassley says the bill would update and enhance protections for whistleblowers who report wrongdoing to the Federal Commodities Future Trading Commission. It is 432. Traffic, Weather, and Simon Conway next. Do your feet hurt? Get back to... Our next update at 5 o'clock on News Radio 1040, WHA.

22:19

All across the great state of Iowa, where it is the Simon Conway show, you are very welcome in. It's 436 on this Thursday, July 30th. And before we do anything else, let me remind you, you can still win a thousand dollars this hour. Yes, you can. All you have to do is take the word rich, R-I-C-H- Rich. Take that to the website of whatever radio station you happen to be tuned into. Enter it where it's obvious. If the phone rings in the next 20 minutes or so, pick it up. If it's us, you want $1,000. It is that simple, my friends. Oh, such an easy segue, but I like Chris McGowan, so I'm not going to do it. Chris McGowan is on our newsmaker line. He is going to be the next congressman for Iowa's 4th District, but he's still fighting hard. He's not taking anything for granted. at all. So, first of all, welcome back. How are you, buddy? Hey, Simon, thank you so much. I'm doing well. I appreciate the opportunity and building upon your open. We are taking nothing for granted over here in Iowa for. We're going to max out turnout to support the other statewide candidates. But we started this morning in Sioux City, spent a little time in Orange City, then went to Sioux Center. And right now we're speaking live from the Plymouth County Fair in Lamar's, Iowa. Have you had a corn dog? Not yet, but dinner is about an hour away. Okay. All right. You know, we like to deal with the important stuff first, Chris. So you've been watching the insanity that has been taking place in our nation's capital this week, right? We all have. You still want to go? Well, it's not a matter of wanting to do so. It's a matter of wanting to make a difference. And that's where you have to, if you want to make a difference in our federal government, if you want to bring some common sense to some of the insanity, that's where the center for our federal government is. And so it's not a matter of wanting to go. It's a matter of wanting to make a difference. Well, I know you do. And you know that wasn't really a throwaway line. It's very difficult to make a difference up there at all, frankly. It's really about five people, fundamentally. And it's just a very difficult place to go. I've told you repeatedly, there's no way. You couldn't pay me enough money to go and do what you're about to do. So I have nothing but complete respect for you. And you know I mean that, right? I do. Very kind of you. Anyone... Anyone from any party that sticks their hand in the air and is prepared to go to that place? Nothing but respect. Absolutely. How's the fam? Because they must, you know, they must know you're going to go there, right? Do you say how is the fair? The fam, the family.

25:06

Oh, the fam. Excuse me. My family is doing quite well. Simon, as you know, my wife, Kathleen, and I have been married 27 years. We're blessed with six children. The oldest five, as you know, matriculated at the United States Naval Academy. Three are serving active duty today. Two are students at the academy, and we have one teenager at home. She'll be starting high school this fall, and the family is very, very supportive. You know, I'm blessed with a very patriotic family. My dad's a Vietnam veteran. I served. My children have also chosen to serve in the armed forces. And so we're blessed. And they understand that this is part of the process of protecting and defending freedom. Just as they're doing it in uniform, I'm going to try and do it in Congress. Are you going to try and come home every weekend? Absolutely. I'm going to do the very best that I can. You know, I'm no stranger to these flights to D.C. And I know that there are many members that fly out on Monday and fly back on Friday. And you have to be back in the district. And quite honestly, Simon, I will argue that I think that our members of Congress spend too much time in Washington, D.C., and they ought to spend more time back in their districts with their constituents. and learning about what's most important to them and what issues are emerging, what issues are arising, what kind of challenges we're facing, whether it's an ag, education, health care, defense, what are the most important things to the constituents in Iowa for? And you can only do that if you spend considerable time meeting with the constituents. I'm all over this district campaigning right now. But when I, when, and hopefully I will be successful and go to Washington, if I'm out there Monday through Friday most weeks, that takes away from important time with the constituents. So I'll be one of those people who argues that members of Congress should be spending more time at home. Right. Absolutely. Look, if you are successful and you end up there, some of your new colleagues will be Democratic Socialists. They're very open about the fact that a democratic socialist. They are enjoying the notoriety that comes with that. And they're saying some bizarre things. I mean, the chair, Megan Roma, she was on Fox. I'm sure you've seen this, but this is what she said. So we're going to put up on the screen a few of the things that are part of your platform. And I want to ask you, just give me sort of a true or false on these. Abolish the Senate. True. Okay, replace the presidency and Supreme Court as we now know them. Yep. Abolish ICE. Absolutely. Abolish borders and give amnesty to anyone currently in the U.S. illegally. As a long-term plan, yep. Defund the Pentagon. Absolutely. Abolish prisons, at least in large part. Yeah, again, as part of a long-term program, yeah. Okay, so no prisons. Government or public ownership of most large corporations. Yeah, absolutely. So there you go. Chris, there are people in districts that are going to put those people in that chamber with you if you are successful. Well, Simon, I will tell you that first and foremost,

28:41

Someone is going to have to explain to me the difference between a democratic socialist and a national socialist. Okay, well, wait a minute. Let's actually do away with both of those. These people are communists. No, no, that's right. But the point that I was attempting to make is the difference between a Democratic socialist and a national socialist, I think, is basically a distinction without a real difference. And the national socialist were the Nazi party of the 1930s in Germany. Oh, trust me. I know. Yes, of course you know. It's an autocratic dictatorship that takes individual liberties away. and that condemns an outlaws religion and the practice thereof. And it always, in every instance, leads to the mass murder of its own citizens. So when people say, oh, no, no, no, we have to consider democratic socialism, or as you and I call it, communism, and they give you, as I've said in the past, some flowery language about how we have to give it another chance. because people misapplied Marxist principles previously. No, we do not need to give it another chance. We need to kill it. We need to destroy it. Yes, that was the chair of that organization. And she's clear. We're going to get rid of the presidency. That's gone. And we're going to get rid of the Supreme Court. So we're going to a parliament. is what she's saying, which is going to be the only supreme authority in the country, a parliament, no Senate, no United States Senate, no presidency, and no Supreme Court to restrict its power of the parliament that she wants to create. That's where she wants to go, clearly. And it's beyond dangerous, and I don't know how you do it, actually. Well, I don't know how they accomplish that objective either. It's pure and simple lunacy. Let's call it what it is and let's not tiptoe around it. We're not going to abolish the presidency. We're not going to abolish the borders. We're not going to abolish the Senate or ICE or prisons or any of those other things because we know that that leads to societal chaos. That should be the – should that be the Republican Party's ad that they just play on repeat? everywhere across the country? It wouldn't hurt, but what this election is shaping up to be is common sense versus communism, and I'm confident that America is going to choose common sense every single time. Well, Chris McGowan is running for Iowa's 4th District. It is likely he will win, but he absolutely is pedal to the medal. I promise you he is. He is running like he's 10 points behind. And he's to be congratulated for that because as the last Republican standing, as soon as he became that in Iowa's 4th District, it was, I said, I've introduced him this way. Here is the next congressman for Iowa's 4th District. But he is not taking that for granted. And as I say, he is running at full steam ahead. Always good to talk to you, Chris.

31:57

We need to get you in the Crystal Studio at the Iowa State Fair, buddy. Well, we will definitely plan on it. Thanks for the opportunity and signing off from the Plymouth County Fair in Lamar's Iowa. I look forward to seeing you soon. Yep, you take care. Be safe out there. We look forward to seeing you as well. There's Chris McGowan. He will be the next Congressman for Iowa's 4th District, but I assure you he is running like he's 10 points behind. He isn't. So let me talk. We just mentioned the Iowa State Fair. You know, the Iowa State Fair, it just happens once a year, right? But hearing every moment shouldn't just happen once a year, which is why Audio Nova is bringing you the State Fair Special, which is available throughout the month of August. 35:40

All across the great state of all across the great state of Iowa. You are very, very welcoming. Thank you very much for being there. Right now, we're going to have a chit-chat with our news anchor today. It is Eva, because, well, Dave has got a gig. That's the bottom line. And, you know, he's our musical best-dressed man in the building, regular afternoon news anchor. But when he is playing the saxophone, he's not here. So that means we get an upgrade. Hi, Eva. Hi. How are you? I'm doing great. See, I think that he picked the short straw today because I get to sit in on your show. So thank you for having me. Oh, you're very welcome. I love it when you're here. So it's not going to happen while we're on the air, or if something weird did happen, we would stop what we were doing anyway. But in theory, starting around midnight and going overnight, we're looking at severe thunderstorms. How severe, Eva? Well, we're at a moderate risk. It's not a very high risk. However, the National Weather Service is warning that it is a possibility. Flash flooding is a possibility overnight. The risk is for much of Iowa, actually, tonight into tomorrow. And they say the system will move west to east across Iowa, bringing a lot of rain. They tell us that there's a slight risk for these storms to be severe, mostly in western Iowa, possibly damaging winds. So we'll keep an eye on that to see how that develops overnight. Okay. It's, you know, it's never an exact science, but they do say the risk of flash flooding is higher tonight. Right. So I'm looking at the, you know, what we refer to on this show as the Oracle when it comes to weather. That would be weather puppy. Have you ever seen the weather? I have seen weather puppy. We love weather puppy on this show. You get the weather and a puppy. I mean... How cute is that? It's fantastic. Yes. Weather puppy says it's going to start raining around midnight, and it's going to keep raining. In fact, by the time we get to 3 a.m., there's a 90% chance of rain. But the totals are not really that high. No. I saw 1 to 3.3. That's what we were looking at is one to three. And I know that ranges, depending on which part of the state you're in, I think it was a bit higher in northwestern Iowa. However, because I was looking at some graphics earlier today that they had put out. But that was this morning, and obviously that changes. They have different graphics at different times a day. And then is it just going to rain steadily through the day tomorrow? Because that is what weather puppy is telling me. producing one to three inches of swaths by midday Friday one to three inches so that starts overnight yeah and we could get that amount by Friday right I mean day Friday so it's going to be it sounds like it's going to be and it says higher amounts are possible yeah all right so nothing too severe no which is which is good and you know I am I'm looking at a a lassie dog jumping

So you've got the National Weather Service, and you've got Weather Puppy. It's entirely up to you. By the way, Weather Puppy, I am available to endorse your very fine product. Eva, thank you very much. I keep calling you Ava. Why do I do that? I don't know. It's weird. I don't know. Maybe you should change your name. No, no. It's always been Eva. Just for the three hours of my show. Just Eva. Okay, if you want to call me Avai, you can do that. Hey, you, we'll maybe go with that. She who must be obeyed, that's a good one. We have hour number one in the can, my friends. That means hour number two is straight ahead. We are all across the great state of Iowa, and this is the Simon Conway Show.
