Federal leaders are now issuing warnings to water systems around the country after dozens of cyber attacks targeted water systems in Minnesota earlier this week. Sources telling ABC News the attacks may be linked to hackers connected with Iran. Water utilities in at least seven states have reported incidents. Officials say the hackers are targeting programmable controllers and are modifying passwords to lock out operators. The hack in Minnesota did not cause any water safety issues, but one town did have to... provide residents with water from a storage tank after hackers shut down normal water flows. ABC's Andrea Fuji reporting. The Trump administration making a push to attract military veterans to drive big rig trucks. More now on that story from Fox News Radio's Jared Halpern. As the Transportation Department claps down on commercial driver's licenses obtained by undocumented and non-English speaking immigrants, the Trump administration is simultaneously trying to transition veterans to become truck drivers. They're going to be given a very quick pass. We're going to teach them. They're going to learn. If they didn't drive a truck in the military, but they're going to learn, and they're going to learn very quickly. President Trump says the Freedom Hollers Initiative will connect military veterans groups with the trucking industry. I know that hiring can be challenging. You need someone to match your role perfectly. Well, now you can... Yesterday's second practice session of this training camp, Coach Primetime, the Hall of Famer, Dion Bernie Sanders, on hand to check out his son, Shador, who did most of the work with the first units at yesterday's practice. Brown's coach Todd Munkin had a chance to meet Dion for the first time, and he said this. That was really cool. I mean, that was a Dion Bernie Sanders. You kidding me? Forget that it's Sador's dad. I mean, first of all, first of all, he did an unbelievable job with Shadur, a great kid. And obviously, an elite football player, held baseball player. And that as a coach, I mean, wow, everything that he's achieved. That was awesome. Interesting that Todd brings up the baseball days, and I digress for a moment years ago when I did the... Canton-Ackren Indians games, Dionne was on the Albany Yankees, and I'll never forget how he'd play center field, and the ball would be a fly ball to one of the gaps, and you would see him just kind of standing still, took him a while to read where it was going, and then he would take off. It was absolutely amazing to see him track down the ball. And then, of course, when his playing days with Atlanta and then the Reds, I believe he was a 300 hitter in his Major League days. All right, I digress there. As Munkin spoke with him also trying to get some insights on, Shadur, and we'll hear what Todd said about that conversation coming up. We also got to hear from GM Andy Barr yesterday, who says that he's hopeful of bringing Jedevian clownie on board. Plowny, a free agent, was in town earlier this week. One guy who's locked up for a while is Grant Delpit signing a new three-year contract with the team. And Delpen was asked if he was wondering the direction of the team after Miles Garrett was traded. Miles is a generational player. It hurts to lose them. I won't downplay that at all. So, of course, trying to figure out, like, what exactly the organization was trying to do in that move. But it's not up to me. We got V8, he's an amazing player. We've got a new defense. I think it's coordinator. Everything going pretty smooth right now. Well, which is the way you'd like it to be. Two days into camp. Hey, fans get to check out the Browns today for the first time. That practice begins at 115 this afternoon. Around the NFL, Baker Mayfield in the news, feeling disrespected by the Buccaneers organization. He said all along, he either wanted a new contract with the team before training camp began or he would not sign. Didn't get a deal done, and he feels disappointed. that they would only offer him a two-year contract and there are other factors in it. Baker now 31. He's played with a large chip on his shoulder since his college days, and that chip will be a lot bigger this year. The Browns, by the way, play at Tampa Bay in week two. Can you imagine the boulder on his shoulder for that game? Guardians back home after a day off. First of a three-game series tonight at 7-10 against the Diamondbacks Tanner Bybee on the mound, and you can hear it right here and free on the I-Heart radio app. White Sox a winner over the Yankees yesterday.

16:01

So Cleveland, two back of Chicago, and only one in front of third place, Minnesota. They won on a walk-off grand slam by Cody Clemens yesterday, and the twins all in to win this season. After blowing up their team last year, they already made a deal yesterday, acquiring reliever A.J. Minter from the Mets for a couple of prospects. The clock is ticking on that Monday trade deadline. Hopefully the Guardians make a move. Home of the Guardians and the Cavs. Mike Snyder, WTAM Sports. They're trying to retrieve, rescue a satellite above us today. Maybe you've seen this headline on your smartphone. Let's bring in IHeart's Rory O'Neill to explain what is happening on this mission, and it may be in jeopardy, and what are they up there doing? Rory, set this up for us. What's going on? Sure, Bill. There's a thing called the Swift Observatory. It's been in space since 2004 and was only supposed to last a year. So we've been getting great sciences that looks for gamma-ray bursts across the universe. All of it's been gravy for the last 19 years. Well, its orbit is deteriorating. So NASA and a company called Catalyst Space came up with this relatively cheap idea to launch a robot towards the Swift Observatory, grapple onto Swift. and then boost its orbit. Now, it's a relatively cheap mission, cheap in government terms, about $30 million. But they say, look, this is high risk, high reward. If we can get this to work, we can use this perhaps on future missions. Problem is, the robot launching towards Swift suddenly started spinning out of control over the weekend before the rendezvous. They're hoping. Still, maybe they can correct it enough that will start to behave again. But, boy, it's going to be a long shot in order for this to be mission success. All right. Sounds like a movie script. I see what you mean. If it works, then we use it down the road. Okay, let's say it doesn't work. What happens to this satellite then? Well, then it seems that the Swift Observatory will just ultimately enter the atmosphere and mostly disintegrate. And that could happen just later this year. But this has been up there for, as I said, over 20 years, giving us almost two extra decades of service. Yeah. So the story, though, I guess it sounds like it's more important if we can save the thing than have it. I mean, just to know we'd have the technology to go up and do this again then, right? Right. This is all about testing new technology. The NASA administrator was on X about this last night. He says we're not giving up yet. He says a lot of credit goes to this Arizona company. He said this is high risk, high reward. He called it a very cool, very low-cost, high-potential, high-reward kind of mission. All right. I. Hart's, Rory O'Neill, puts a bunch of stories together to it. You can listen to your convenience on the weekend dive on the app. You got a show put together yet? Some ideas? Certainly do. Something still coming together. I'm talking to a retired lieutenant general about the situation in Iran and that talk about weapons shortages. Plus, did you know we're in a blood crisis right now? We are at almost record lows for the blood supply. So a reminder, roll up your sleeves, give blood, and you even get 20 bucks from Amazon as part of the deal. I-Hart's Rory O'Neill. Check out the weekend dive this weekend on the I-Hart Radio app. All right, good reporting. Thanks much. Have great weekend, too.

Fox's Tanya Powers, and I love that you pick this topic out. There's so much noise and going on in the world. It's Friday. Let's lighten up a bit. The Oscar Meyer Wiener Mobile is celebrating 90. I mentioned earlier, Tanya, I think you get excited when you see the Goodyear Blimp go overhead or you pass the Oscar Meyer Wiener Mobile. Those are two icons, aren't they? Yeah, I mean, it's Americana, it's pop culture. You know, it is something that, you know, we kind of, you know, it's one of our beloved little kind of happy things. Like you said, it's hard not to smile when you see something like that. Yeah, it's 90, huh? It's been a great promotion for him over the years. It really has 90 years. I mean, the – 1936 is when Carl Meyer, who was the nephew of the company's founder, Oscar, came up with the idea. Could you just imagine this pitch meeting where he goes into Uncle Oscar's office? He's like, hey. So here's what I think we ought to do. Oscar's like – Why did I hire my sister's kid? Right. And he says, let's drive a 13-foot hot dog car around Chicago and tell everybody about our hot dogs. Well, it, you know, it kind of worked. Also, it sort of grew. I believe it's a 27-foot-long hot dog on wheels now. It's, you know, it's evolved over the years. It has spawned. It's even got its own hot wheels car. You can actually get one on Amazon for like $32, which, you know, it seems insane for a hot wheel car. But apparently that this is a, you know, one's going for a lot. The little wheels and everything. The Wiener Mobile is also, you know, on the road. It is touring. There's a fleet of like six of these things. And they drive them around the hot doggers that they hire. That's what they call them the hot doggers. And. They hire these, like, kids straight out of college, not kids, they're adults. Sorry about that, guys. And they have them drive around, you know, the country. And, you know, you just had to be able to, you know, handle this entirely huge automobile. Now they've got to be really good at, like, social media because they're, you know, posting and doing fun, you know, kinds of things like that on social media. You can also track the WeinerMobile on their website. The Oscar Meyer folks have a whole WeinerMobile section where you can see where it's going to be this weekend. I think it's in Georgia as well as some other places. But yeah, it's kind of a fun thing. There's also a cake that is celebrating its 90th birthday this weekend. They're selling it here in New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago, and they've teamed up with Milk Bar, which does the birthday cakes. And it is. Oscar Meyer hot dogs in buns and they're standing up like, you know, lengthwise, and they're around each tier, like they surround each tier of this cake. That's fun.

24:02

Bringing Cleveland 3 News Meteoraldas Matt Wins. It's a nice start this morning, but it's going to warm up today, huh? Yeah, it's going to warm up. Mid- Upper 80s this afternoon, Bill. So a little warmer than where we've been with that refreshing north wind this week. Humidity is going to start to rise as well. And most of the day is going to be dry for most areas, but can't rule out a lake breeze-induced pop-up downpour, kind of like what you have in Florida. We get it every now and then. So maybe some downpours this afternoon, a little bit inland. Oh, okay. All right. How about the weekend? Yeah, well, we've got rain coming. Timing's not all that awful. You'll see this low pressure that's out towards Iowa this morning. It's slowly going to spiral its way through Illinois and Indiana. We'll have clouds with a couple showers during the day Saturday, but much of the day will be fine. It's Saturday evening that the main plume of moisture gets here. So turning rainy Saturday evening, Saturday night, and then rain at times with thunderstorms. You'll get some breaks as well on Sunday. And that might continue through much of next week as that low stalls over us. So much needed rain coming, but just the timing's not great for the weekend. Yeah, I hate for, you know, stuff the mess up. It seems like that we're getting a little dry around here as far as the years. So dry. Yeah, so we do need the rain. We just hate if it messes up any planes. Okay, all right. Our grass matches fall colors already. It's dormant. Yeah, it's that time of the year. Yeah, I need some rain. Very brown. Well, Bill, the Browns will get on the practice field today for the third time of this training camp. For the first time, they will have fans. That'll put a little juice into the practice, although they get to put the pads on. Of course, the main storyline of this Browns training camp is who. will be named the Brown starting quarterback for week one at Jacksonville. After two days of practice, it really is too early to tell. The fan favorite, of course, is Shador Bernie Sanders and his dad, Primetime. Yeah, Dion was on hand yesterday. Brown's head coach Todd Munkin had a chance to visit with Primetime briefly, and Todd was asked if he got any extra insights into what makes Shador tick. He gave me a little bit of insight, but we were up against it. Andrew Bari Weiss was next, so I had to give him up to Andrews. So there was some back and forth as to being around Shadur in terms how he processes personality-wise. And I think, you know, competitive-wise, he got into it at the end, you know, in terms of what makes him tick that he'd been around, which was good. It was all good. So a good session there. Of course, Dionne is going to head back to Colorado. College football season is just around the corner. Now, Brown's GM, Andrew Bari Weiss, also met with the media yesterday, and he indicated that he's hopeful that they will get a deal done with Dewey and Clowny. But Clowny is exploring other options right now. The veteran defense event was in town two days ago to meet with the team. They did get deals done, of course, with Denzel Ward and Grant Delpit and the veteran safety. is very appreciative. The trust that the Browns organization has in me, teammates, coaches, it says a lot to make it to this third contract and to be locked in for the long haul. City of Cleveland behind me, you know, it's an amazing feeling. So, you know, I can't say, can't really put it into words, but it's just such a blessing to have that. And, you know, I'll definitely take advantage of. So the Browns, yeah, they're spending some dough on that defensive backfield. They're optimistic about the defensive line. They think it would be better with Clowny as they look at the defense. And, of course, a very young offense with a big question mark at quarterback. Former Brown's quarterback Baker Mayfield isn't happy about the way things have gone in contract talks with Tampa Bay. In fact, he's broken off any more talks. He said unless you get a new contract with the team going into camp. that he would not negotiate during camp, and Baker indicated that he feels disrespected that the team has offered him what they have to this point, and no more than a two-year deal. The Browns do play at Tampa in week two of the regular season. Guardians had a day off yesterday, and they're back at it tonight, first of three, with the Diamondbacks who are fighting for a wild card spot in the National League, 10 or by beyond the mound for Cleveland. 7-10 game time tonight, and you can hear it right here and free on the...

Now here's some breakfast for your brain. New Harvard University research finds it following certain healthy diets may help support brain health over time. Researchers looked at several popular eating patterns, including the Mediterranean diet, dash diet, and the mind diet, all ways of eating that emphasize fruits, vegetables, whole grains, healthy fats, and lean proteins will limiting red meat and ultra-processed foods. People who most closely followed these diets had lower rates of cognitive decline as they aged, including from memory, concentration, and thinking skills. Experts say following a plant-based diet may help reduce inflammation and support healthy blood flow to the brain. The study also suggests... consistency over time matters, and maybe the key to reaping long-term benefits. So the bottom line, healthier food choices today may help support memory and brain function in the years ahead. With this medical minute, I'm Alex Stone. Also on your diet, cholesterol numbers have moved. Have you heard about this? Dr. Joe Galati with me on News Radio W-T-A-M-1100. This is Bill Wells. Hey, doctor, good morning to you. Cholesterol numbers. What's the latest research and are they giving us, are they allowing us more cholesterol or not? What's going on? No, Bill. I think the problem is that what the American Heart Association... came out with recently is that we really have to tighten up the numbers. The in particular, the LDL cholesterol, which most people think of as the bad cholesterol, that number has to be even lower than the guidelines that were established before. And based on your risk, it should be somewhere between 50 and 70. And I see patients every day walking around with LDL cholesterol of

45:59

150 or greater, and they're just not being attended to. It's sort of being ignored. And the research will show one out of three patients are following the guidelines. So there are a lot of people that think their cholesterol is okay, but they're walking around with a high risk for having a heart attack, stroke, or heart failure. All right. So the LDL, I've got to be 50 to 70. How about the HDL? Isn't that the good one? Well, the HDL certainly should be higher, but the attention really is on the LDL cholesterol. The other thing is there is a, I don't want to say it's a little known cholesterol test. It's called the LIPOA, L-I-P-O-A like Apple. That should be tested pretty much once in a lifetime because this. cholesterol elevation, the lipoA is driven by genetics. And if your lipoA is elevated, you're carrying a significantly higher risk of heart attack. And again, you're silent, you won't know you have it. So just the routine cholesterol screening, triglycerize, et cetera, doesn't include the lipo A. So you need to talk with your doctor and get the lipo A to see if you're genetically at risk for. more complications. All right, two questions here than to follow up. One, why the change? Is this more long-term study about where we allowed it before compared to where it should be? Is that what they came up with? Oh, yeah. Yeah, actually, absolutely. You know, the research will show why are people having a heart attack? What do we need to do? And you're looking at all of these people that have been on statins in the past or lifestyle change. And certainly you're looking to say that people that may have been on a statin, And the LDL was above that threshold that they thought was normal are still showing up with significant coronary artery disease. So this is what's driving down the the LDL requirements. And there are very potent, very effective drugs that will drive the LDL cholesterol down and really save lives. I know statins over the past, you know, 20 years have gotten a bad rap. But when you look at the risk benefit, they tremendously outweigh the potential risk that you should really seriously consider a statin. All right. Get you out on this. Full disclosure, I'm on like 20 milligrams of a statin, but I'm trying to do the other stuff, the exercise, and the fish oil. Is the fish oil helping me, Doc? Is that something we should all be doing, the fish oil? You know, fish oil and an assortment of other supplements and herbs have been studied like crazy. And they are not showing that it is reducing the risk of heart attack or dying. So in some cases, especially with triglycerides, the fish oils may improve the profile. But really what we're looking at is not just fixing the number, but reducing, you know, your chance of having a heart attack. Unfortunately, the data does not really support all these supplements. All right, Dr. Joe Galati, a lot of good information. Check out his podcast, too. There's some great work, Dr. Joe Galati.com. Good information on the change in the look at cholesterol numbers, at least on the LBM. All right, we'll try and do better. Thank you, Doc. All right, man. Take care. Take care. A minute till late.
