It was great. Too short, as they like to say. It always is. They seem to go by so fast. They really do. Yeah, unfortunately. Life goes by too fast if you think about it. Oh, my wife and I went out to dinner Saturday night with some friends, and it was just a wonderful time. It was absolutely a wonderful time. We had just a terrific meal and terrific time. So that makes life worth living, buddy. Yeah, amen. We had most of the family over yesterday, had dinners, did a little swim, and it was a great, great day. Yep. Thank God for, thank God you're alive and healthy. That's all it matters. Enjoy, enjoy life. Yeah, again, you know, and we take it for granted because you just never know. when, you know, you're, when the guy upstairs is going to pull your number. Absolutely. Incidentally, and it has nothing to do with anything other than I just tell you. Folks, I've gone through all my life without taking much, many prescriptions at all. I take singular for asthma and allergies and that kind of stuff. It's a great drug. I don't know. What's a, it's not, it's generic for singular. And I just, yes, and I just recently went on the,
lowest dose possible of Crestor, folks. You know, it looks like a dot. The pill is so small just to bring everything in line and it works phenomenal. I mean, it's, I mean, the pill is so tiny, Mr. Pharmacist. It's like, it's unreal. I mean, it's, but it works wonders. I mean, it's the lowest possible dose. And I was telling, I was telling Richard Pharmacist, I just started taking, now this is that. As you get older, you start taking more stuff. is what metformin after i talk with rich and everything like that and it's uh actually has a lot of positive things about it so i started taking my metformin uh rich after i talked to you after i talk to you not after i talk to my doctor and everything i talked to rich a pharmacist and so okay that's cool Yeah, no, I mean, you're being proactive, which is what you should be. You know, unfortunately, most people are. Most people wait until they have the heart attack or they've, you know, their diabetes is out of control. Their A1C's 8, 9, 10, you know, or higher when it should be under 6th. And if you're proactive and you start taking stuff, there's a lot of, we can put off, we can modify disease states. There's a lot we can do. compared to when our parents were our age. You know what I found... You know, and what I found interesting, and true or false, metformin was actually... It was used for something else before they used it for lowering your A1C, if you will. And mine is just slightly elevated. But when they... It was actually used for malaria. Did you know that? I was unaware of that. They used it for... I actually did not. That one... That was... Glucophage was the brand name of that. And that came out. I graduated in 91 from pharmacy school. That probably came out around 94, 95 in this country. It was probably out before that. But it was just old, it was just new enough that we never studied it when I was in pharmacy school. Metformin? But it's a unique drug. It's the only drug of its kind. It has no competition. There's nothing else like metformin. It lowers insulin resistance. It's a great drug. And it pushes back if you're pre-diabetic, if for anybody out there that has pre-diabetes or metabolic syndrome, you should probably be on metformin, 500 once or twice a day to start just because it will push back the onset of diabetes. It'll push back the metabolic, the onset of the, or progression of the metabolic syndrome. It's a great drugs. There's a lot of great drugs out there, and a lot of them now are generic and they're cheap. It is really something, how inexpensive they are. Like, Crestor used to be really expensive. Oh, when it was brand, yeah. Yeah, once it goes generically, you could, but you could probably buy a whole year supply. If you had your doctor rate you for, say, 350 or 400 tablets at Crest Store. 10 milligrams, whatever you're on, 5 milligram, 10 milligram. And you brought it in and we put it on Good RX. You're probably looking at, I don't know, 40 bucks for the whole year. Isn't that amazing? 50 at the most. Yeah, same thing. Metformin's the same way. There's so many. Anything that's generic typically, or I'd say 98% of what's out there generic is very inexpensive.
I'll tell you, though, there's something that's worked to, like for allergies, if you've ever had allergies, pollen or whatever, whatever the case is, or cat for and that kind of stuff. And that's how I got on monoglucose or whatever. Yeah, singular is basically it's. And I have two cats. I remember going to the Northside Hospital. I got this test, you know, and I was allergic to cat dander and cat stuff and this kind of stuff. You know, they do those tests. It's kind of cool, actually. So then I got on singular. This is several years ago. And boy, it's done wonders. And it seemed to take care of any type of allergies you might have as far as pollen and that kind of stuff. So no side effects on that at all. But I've been on that for a while. And then I just recently went on that. I mean, you know how tiny that pill is. It's a... Crestor. It's like a pinprick. Yeah. It's like five milligrams. It's the lowest dose. I think it's five milligrams. But it's absolutely amazing what that does as far as your numbers are concerns. I mean, it's with that tiny, tiny, tiny bit of a pill. It's the most out of all the statins that are out there. And there's probably a dozen of them if we added them all up. It's the most potent. On a milligram per milligram basis, you get the best cholesterol lowering with Crestor. Yeah, and then I stopped, folks, I stopped drinking pop and all that kind of stuff, sugar and that kind of stuff. And my sugar was just slightly out. I'm right at the, I'm on the borderline, to quote Madonna, I'm on the borderline. And they said, well, you know, it just ticked up slightly. It's still below six, but it should be maybe a little bit lower than that kind of stuff. So they put me on the lowest dose of metformin. And before I took it, true story, who did I call and who did I ask about? This guy right here who explained it all to me. And then I looked, there's a lot of positive things that it does outside of what it's prescribed for. I mean, it's really something. So I just thought I'd let you know. I listened to you. I listen to you. Well, it's nice somebody does. A lot of people do. But that's enough. You know, that's about all I should take. Because, you know, I'm healthy for the most part. I'm honestly blessed at this point that I don't want to take a bunch of prescription stuff. But this stuff is more preventative, I would say, than anything. Yep. Yeah. And like I said, you've got the beginning stages of what they refer to as metabolic syndrome. And which probably 70, 80% of Americans do. It's just part of getting old and having the diet and the habits that we have in this country. It just develops. And if you don't treat it, and if you're not proactive with it, it will eventually, over time, become diabetes, type two diabetes. How does that, how does that good RX card even work that you were talking about? So many people say, well, if you put it on good RX or whatever, the price comes down, why is that? I mean, it's not a prescription card. You know how you go to the doctor? Let's see if an office visit and you get the statement, you know, the explanation of benefits from your benefit provider. And the doctor billed 120 or 150 for the offices. And it says your cost is 65. And then they deduct, you know, your co-pay or whatever. Sometimes, you know, if it's a preventative, it might be free.
And so it's the same thing with us. To maximize what we're getting on insurance, because insurance, almost nobody today doesn't have some type of insurance. So nobody, when I first started, I worked for Farmore. That was my first job. And they catered at that time, 80% of the people were paying cash. They had no insurance that picked up their prescriptions other than they could turn. And once you hit your deductible, you're 80-20 deductible, you could turn in your prescription expenses and your insurance would reimburse you. 80% of the cost. But, you know, only 20% had a copay card where you came in and paid $5 or $10 or whatever. So now it's the complete opposite. It's 95% of the people have some type of a copay, you know, prescription card. And so all the chains, you know, everybody else, it's just like the health care industry, they charge an astronomical rack rate price. because they know they're only going to get reimbursed what the insurance wants to. So you're trying to do it to maximize your reimbursement. What good RX is basically doing is saying you as a consumer who is paying cash and not using an insurance, we will give it to you for the same rate that we would buy it for for Blue Cross Blue Shield or whoever, Anthem or whoever. So you're getting the insurance company's price is basically what it comes down to. And anybody can get a good RX card for free, right? Just go right online. Go to good our x.org.com. You can put in your drug, your strength, the quantity you want. And I would tell people, if you're buying something on a good or X card, and you go to Goadrxart.com, you look at the quantity. At the very last one, there's something called custom quantity. You can put in whatever quantity you want if you click that. So I always do your supplies, and you will save a lot more if you buy a year at a time. If you buy, let's see buy 90 days or 100 days worth of Resuvastatin 5 that you're on, it might come up, you know, $12 or $15. But if you put in 400 tablets, it might only come up $35. And it's just so I, I'm on a lot of medicine. Unfortunately, I ate myself into diabetes, but now you're skinny. But I worked hard at it. I tell you, it didn't, it took me a long time to get the diabetes. I earned every bit of it. But yeah, I mean, I got on a GLP. I've been on four or five of the different GLP since they came out. I'm on Manjera now. And they're phenomenal drugs. They're absolutely phenomenal. One in 10 people in this country, I just saw a stat is now taking a GLP. And we should probably get it up to four or five people out of every 10 in this country because it's going, it will change disease states. You will see people get healthier. You're going to see people that nobody in this country. I'm not going to see nobody. Probably 95% of the people in this country that are fat or overweight don't want to be. They would love to be skinnier, but just metabolically and with our diet and everything with our culture, it's very difficult. And I struggled with it since I was a young kid in elementary school. I started ballooning up after first grade. Nobody wants to. With the GLPs, it's almost impossible to be heavy after you start taking one. I think I've lost. At my height, I think, was up to about 285. I'm down to around 215 now. And my numbers, you know, my A1C is under 6, my cholesterol, all of it. I mean, the numbers are phenomenal. They're great drugs. I wish they're stupid expensive.
Although Trump RX and a lot of the stuff he's doing is bringing the cost down substantially over what it was. Because before that, if you wanted to buy them, even on a good RX card, because there's no generic, you were looking at, you know, $13,400. Now with these new programs, these new bridge programs that the seniors are getting, because it's typically not, if you're not diabetic, they don't cover it for weight loss. But they've got that bridge program where I think you start out at around $150 a month. The longer you stay on it, it progresses up at Michael up to $250 or $300 a month, which is still a decent amount of money. But if you're getting yourself healthier and your health is getting better, your weight is coming down, you're getting your diabetes under control, you're probably going to live longer, you're going to have a better quality of life. There's a lot of things out there now that the orthopedes are worried. Because if you start getting people in their 30s and 40s to lose all the weight, by the time they hit their late 50s and 60s, they're not going to need nearly as many hip replacements and e-replacements. So there's a lot of long-term benefits to that class of drugs. But the same thing with the cholesterol drugs. When they first came out, they're really expensive. Now they're cheap. They do a good job at... arresting cardiac block you know development cardiac blockage development and things like that they're not a hundred percent but it's better than what it's been one of the only things we have that works really well and they're cheap so I mean if you can tolerate it why not give yourself that advantage I was reading where they said how expensive these, what the shots are that people are taken. For the people who have type 2 diabetes, it's necessary for them. Then people started taking them because they were overweight. But they're saying it's expensive. And if Medicare would cover it, it could be the end of Medicare. But the price is coming down. But they also said there's the other side of it. that if more people got on, I'm like you did, it might save Medicare because a lot of the procedures that people need wouldn't be necessary because their numbers would be in line. They would be healthier as they got older. Yeah, my one neighbor, I was talking to him. He's an engineer, and he said he read an article that the airlines are actually finding out that the average weight of their loads now is decreased because so many people have lost weight. The average weight of a passenger has gone down the last couple years. So they're burning less fuel and things like that. And that's just an economic advantage. The health advantages to them are tremendous. For the right person, if you're... Tall and skinny, you don't need to be on a GLP. Right. But if you're, you know, if your body mass index, your BMI is over, you know, 30, 32, you're going to get tremendous health benefits from getting on one and dropping the weight and getting, you know, getting yourself in shape. Especially if you start to exercise and combine it with exercise and modify your diet a little bit. It's almost hard not to modify your diet because you just don't want to eat.
I took my shot. I think it's once a week. I think I took mine Saturday. I don't think before 1 or 2 o'clock today I even ate anything. Really? Some water or stuff like that. You're just not hungry. I never eat because I'm hungry. I only eat because I maybe I want to eat. Stay at a down. Wait a minute. Stand by. Hang on. Back with Richa Pharmacists. Some of your calls ahead. Ron Verp News Radio 570 W. QVN. transform your bathroom. News, weather, and talk station, 570 WKBN. All right, bank, a rich pharmacist, so you think a lot of people are on these, what Trump calls them the fat shot. Well, I mean, if you're taking it for weight loss, that's what it is. I mean, you're using it to reduce the amount of body fat, so that's not a bad thing to call it. And like I said, nobody, how many people you know that are overweight want to be, do you think are happy that they're overweight? Not a one. Exactly. It's just very difficult. You know, if it was easy, everybody would be skinny. It's hard. It's really hard because I tried it most of my life. And you yo-you-up and, you know, because it's the lifestyle change you have to make. The GLP makes the lifestyle change for you because you just can't eat. And if you do, if you start to eat within a couple bites, you fill up. And the only bad thing is, is I love food. I mean, don't get me wrong. I love food. And you just can't enjoy it as much because you just can't consume nearly as much as you used to. And a lot of times you look like, you know, this time of year, there is nothing better to me that a good steak on the grill and some corn on fresh corn on the cop. There's a little Mennonite farm, Catulpa Grove farms out in Columbia, phenomenal corn. It's like eating candy. I used to be able to eat probably four or five, six years of corn. If I get one or two and maybe half a steak now, I'm done. And I love it. I love it, but it's just, there's not that enjoyment of having this fulfilling big meal anymore because you're done halfway through, not even halfway through it, a third of the way through it. But on the other hand, you're not, you know, I'm not 60 pounds heavier than I used to be. So you lost weight and all your numbers got in line. And that's the whole thing. With type 2 diabetes, it's almost exclusively weight driven. If you drop the weight, you know, I think Drew Carey, if you remember, Drew Carey probably, what, 10, 15 years ago was diagnosed, dropped all the weight and you got his diabetes in control. Mm-hmm. And that's something. So, you know, I would tell people, you know, if you look into it, if you can afford it. you know, it's definitely worth giving it a shot because it will, if you can tolerate and you're successful with it, it's going to improve your quality of life. It will prevent long-term problems that you're going to have. Huge. Yeah, the Medicare, you're not going to see the Medicare savings in five years, but 10 to 15 years down the road, you can see substantial decreases and the cost of providing, you're not going to be doing the hip replacements, the knee replacements. A lot of, you know, the treating the diabetes, the dialysis, get rid of the diabetes. Just the amount that we spend on dialysis in this country is astronomical, and it's terrible. I mean, if you've not able to go through dialysis, it's a horrible, horrible way to live your life. You prevent that, and you're saving billions and billions of dollars. So there's a lot of benefits to them. And you think a lot of people are on it already.
The latest I saw, I think it was on CNBC last week. They said the estimate is 1 in 10 Americans are taking a GLP right now. I can tell you what we sell every day. I mean, we're going to probably have to buy a bigger refrigerator. We've got a big full-sized refrigerator. Probably going to need another one because we're running out of room to put the things. Isn't that something? And so the price is coming down as time goes on, right? It would get less expensive. Oh, yeah, absolutely. And I think, Ozempic, I think, goes generic in a year or two at the most. And it's a great drug. I mean, are there newer ones coming? I just read this morning. The next one that Lilly comes out. Ozymp works on GLP works on GLP plus another site that it blocks, and the new one's going to work on GLP, that site, and glucagon. And they're seeing, I think, within, I forget how many months it was, but I want to say like 10 or 15 months, you're seeing a 20% weight loss. So if you've got somebody that's 250 pounds, that's 50 pounds. that you drop. If you go from 250 to 200, you're going to have a much healthier life. You're going to breathe easier, less pressure on your legs and all that kind of stuff. You're going to be, now you're not going to get his winded going up the steps. I mean, you're just, your quality of life, I can just tell you, because my quality of life today is way better than it was six, seven years ago when I first started taking a GLP. It just tremendously better. You feel better. I feel probably as good now as I did when I was in my 20s and 30s. I mean, a little wear and tear because I'm going to be 59 years old. So, I mean, you know, there's something bending down, obviously. It's used to being getting ups even harder. But compared to what I would be, you know, even what I was just five, six years ago, it's made a tremendous difference. Just what they want, people living longer. Well, what they're going to do is make you work longer now. That's how, you know, unless they fix Social Security, you know, it's going to be able to afford to retire. Yeah, with this inflation. It's crazy. So, now what's on your minds? Well, if I could give kudos, you know, I think we focus so much on the negative. And today I had one of the best, just a fantastic customer service experience. And you forget about all the neat little places in town that you can go to. We have a tendency to focus on the big boxes. You go to Walmart or you go to Target. You go to Home Depot and Lowe's. But I've been cutting a lot of woods. So my neighbor had a big branch go down. I like to cut wood, split wood, burnwood. I love a fire in the winter. stack it up. So I've cut probably about two and a half cords, cut and split and stack, two and a half cords of wood. Now, wait on, because I got a break from my headlines. But before I do, remember this, just remember this. Nothing attracts ticks more than a wood pile. Just keep that in mind as I'm talking, all right? Okay. Then we'll come back, and I want to hear the rest of this. That's true, folks. Back in a minute. News Radio 570, WKVM all calls ahead. And all I'm saying is be careful when you stack that wood up because ticks are attracted to wood piles. Now, my wife, are you ready for this, Rich? Here's the advice. She says, a walk into woods will attract more ticks than a wood pile. I learned that in my tick class. She actually took a class. She's taking classes, and one of them was all about, one of them had part of it was about ticks. And she said, I always heard a walk in the woods was worse, and it is. So there you go. Well, the other thing I would tell people is if you come inside and you find out a tick has bit into your skin, after you remove it, call your doctor because I think you only need two or three days worth of treatment with doxycycling. as a preventative, and you won't get Lyme disease. It'll kill the organism that causes Lyme disease. So if you get that, call your doc up, tell them to put you on doxycycline, we'll give you two, three days, and you'll never get Lyme disease. Okay, so wait a second here. So you wanted to give a compliment. And anyway, so I cut the first court I split by hand with a wood mall. I was a little tired, so I got one up to my mother-in-law's got my father-in-law's old wood splitter brought it home. And I'm cycling this thing, and it'll go, the splitter will go forward or not back. And I look in the control mechanism, there's a bolt that fell out. So I pull the other bolt out, and I'm looking at it. It's a hexagonal turn-in machine screw or something. I can't.
I'm thinking, like, what size is it, whatever? So I run up right here in North Lima. You've got Krause True Value hardware, John Krause's place. And I walk in with this bullet. I said, John, I know you probably don't have anything. Hold on. Takes me right back, finds the size. There's a little measuring thing, finds the size, goes to a bin. This is it right here. I think it was like 94 cents later. I walked out of the store, fixed my machine. I'm thinking, what are the odds you could go into Home Depot or lows or a lot of these places? I used to live in Howland. There's a little store in the corner of old 82 and 46 Andrews Shopping Center. Another fantastic little place. You know, Krause, they have the Lionel Trains. They're probably the best Lionel Train collection in the United States where you want to collect Lionel Trains. Just all these neat little businesses. Where you're going to go in, you're going to get good customer service. You're probably fine stuff that you can't find other places, unique little items that you need. And that's the thing that I think, unfortunately, is starting to die in our community. It's the little mom-and-pop shops. that used to be around that just, you know, the kids don't want to take them over in a lot of cases or the owners die and go away. You'll see bakeries or see. How many times you read an article in The Vindicator were somebody 50 years in business and they shut down because nobody wants to take the business over. Right. I was thinking handyman hardware in my neck of the woods in Austin. Handyman's another great story. These people went up in Niles that I'd go to when I was over in my in-laws and we needed stuff. So, you know, before you just go rushing into these, to the boxes. Try some of the little local guys. Price-wise, they're usually competitive. Oh, yeah. You might be, you know, five or ten, fifteen percent more. But, you know, it would have cost me more in gas when I paid for the bolt to run up to Home Depot. And, you know, you walk in, and the owner's right to Harry takes care of you. They just do, they just provide great service. And patron, you know, if I could encourage people, patronize local businesses, locally owned businesses if you can. Or at least give them a shot. You know, most of the time you're going to have an experience that's better than what you're going to find at all the big box stores. Now, I leave you with this because this was email to me. I'm just reading it. This is a special meeting agenda, July 28th. That's tomorrow, incidentally. This is for Poland Township, okay? Yeah. All right. It's Poland Township. And it says here, let's see, approve, you know, call to order, pledge of allegiance, roll call, approve previous minutes. Line item number five, Township Resolution, if needed. Resolution 26-23, a resolution determining to proceed with the submission to the electors of the question of levying a tax in excess of the 10-mill limitation. Yes, so they want to collect your inside millage.
Township Resolution, Resolution 26, a resolution determining to proceed with the submission to the electors of the question of levying attacks in excess of the 10-mill limitation. What does that mean? I think what they're trying to do is, my take on that is the 10, well, in excess of the 10-mill limitation. So 10-mills is the inside millage amount, correct? Yes. They're guaranteed to get as 10-mills. So they want to put on an additional levy, it sounds like, or a renewal that's in excess of the 10-mills. Yeah, I don't know what that means. It's either that or they don't want to give up to 10-mills. All of these entities, all these government entities right now can say they do not want to take the increase they're going to get from the inside millage. They can say, nope, we choose not to have that until Ralph Meacham, take it off their tax bills. Don't assess the increase on the inside millage. This is on the current reappraisals. On the current reappraisals, basically, you're saying that that's the... that's the part that will go up without you voting on it each entity has the ability to say we don't we're not going to take it to give the taxpayers some some relief whether that's austin township boardman township whether that who's ever who's ever in that pool Yeah, because that first 10 mills, if your house went up, let's see your house one up 20%. That first 10 mils isn't exempt. So you're going to see the amount you pay on that first 10 mils of your property valuation, which is about half, because I think my millage is around 20, I think, or ballpark. But anyway, that first 10 mills is going to get assessed, is going to be taxed higher. You're going to get assessed on the new value on that first 10 mils. The political subdivisions, school districts, townships, villages, cities, county can all say, let the taxpayer keep it. They can tell Ralph don't assess these people that increased. I think Dave Thomas may have gotten that put in. And like I said, I went a week and a half ago to the South Range Board meeting, and I told them that, and they said, yes, we are looking at whether we can afford and to not take that increase. We are definitely going to look into that. They didn't say they were promising not to, but they were at least going to look into it. I'll be curious how many people actually exercise that option. It's the right thing to do, but it's definitely the right thing to do. Here's the problem. If nobody goes and asks them to do it, they're probably not going to do it. But if five people show up at that poll and trustees meeting tomorrow or village, whatever it was, and say, we don't want our taxes to increase. We're expecting you not to increase the millage, not to take the increase on the first 10 mills. If people start showing up and demanding that and say, you know, if you do, I'm going to support whoever's going to run against you in the next election.
Because, God forbid, a lot of these public elected officials could not keep that job, that elected position, and suck at the public trow. I got to play a clip. I think I sent it to you the other day, Ron DeSantis, eliminating property taxes. It's a short clip. Let me see if I can bring this up. All right, thanks, Rich. Take care of calls. News Radio 570, Doody, Q. Listen to this. This is from... Graham Bensinger's show, I guess. Listen to this. This is a clip from Rhonda Sannis, if I can bring. What are you looking to do with property taxes? Well, we're looking to give people relief from the high cost of living. I mean, we've had a major inflationary period in American history, one of the most inflationary, groceries, all these things. Who knows what's going to happen with oil? The one thing we control is tax. And so in Florida, local governments get property tax. We don't get at the state. We've got a plush rainy day fund. We've paid down half our debt since I've been governor. I've got all this great stuff. We're doing great. Local governments, when I became governor, we're taking in $32 billion. Now they're taking in $60 billion. So the revenues almost doubled in seven years. Why? Because they're assessing the values higher. And the values have gone up. And so we're saying, okay. If you're a Florida resident and you're homesteading your property, that's your primary homesteaded residents. We think that should be excluded. Now, that's about 30% of the overall property tax revenue if you just did it on day one. So it's got to go on the ballot in November of 2026. And it would be something that would be phased in, most likely. But we could get to a point very quickly in Florida where 90-some percent are not paying anything. And eventually we'd phase in the elimination. So it can be done. And if we don't do anything. They're going to have $84 billion in revenue in 2013. So that's 12, 13 years to go from 32 to 84. So when people will say, you can't do it, you're not going to have any services, just ask them, did we not have schools in police in 2019 when they were taken in $32 billion? Of course we did. Now, give them inflation, give them population growth, give them a couple percent just for kicks on a Saturday night. That takes you at about $46 or $47 billion. It doesn't take you to $60. So how would you want to do that? Maintain the growth of these governments or give Floridians really historic property tax relief. There you go. There's the philosophy that you don't see and you don't hear in Mahoning County. There is Ron DeSantis in Florida talking about property taxes. It's a philosophy that you don't hear. from elected officials in Mahoning County, and it is what our problem is. When you're taking a look at local property taxes, what were you taking in a few years ago, and what are you taking in now? The amount of money has changed dramatically in this community, and as that money continues to increase, we continue to grow governments, as opposed to saying, do you really need that much?
You can't function on slight increases from where you were 10 years ago. When you listen to Ron, that guy is just absolutely visionary. So in November on the ballots, as a Florida resident, you can be homestead exempted. I mean, just think about that. Do you hear that philosophy from anyone in Mahoning County? Do you hear it from your Mahoning County commissioners? Do you hear it from your trustees? Do you hear anyone like you hear Ron DeSantis, whose prime focus is on the numbers and the taxpayer? As he said, the only thing we in government can do to assist the individual is would deal with taxes and lowering taxes for people. And we still have more money coming in, but we're not taking this gross amount of money from them. What an outstanding governor that guy is. It would make a terrific president. Why? You know, there's things about Ron DeSantis. He's a lawyer and he reads. Before he makes a decision, he reads. He's a lawyer and he reads. He educates himself so he knows what he's talking about. He doesn't accept what he's told. He actually reads. And you could see that when it came to COVID and what was going on with the COVID situation, why Florida stayed open. And when you hear him talk about what a refreshing outlook it is when he's just talking about where they're going. Ron Furb News Radio 570WKVN and you're on the air. Yeah, so the Poland Township meeting agenda, I don't know what conclusion to draw from it other than it sounds like they are broke. Why do you need to go in excess of a limitation on a levy? Now, according to Rich, that might be the inside millage. I don't know. I mean, I don't know. Let's see. Well, let's see. Who would know? Eric Ungero would know. So Eric Ungero, Poland Township Trustees should call the program and explain that. Let's see. Well, let's see. There's Eric Ungaro, Frank Demaine, he's vice chairman, and Edwards Kemper's trustee. Mm-hmm. Any of those people? I mean, they're there with Poland Township. Perhaps they should call and explain this to the residents of Poland Township. So this is a special meeting on the 28th. And it's a fair question to say, what does that mean? Resolution 2623, a resolution determining to proceed with the submission to the electors of the question of levying attacks in excess of the 10-mill limitation. I don't know what that means. But they can explain it. Yeah, Thursday they had some kind of emergency meeting, but I didn't go to that, and I don't even know if the audio is out there or the video or anything. So that's what makes me think it's a bigger problem. I don't know. Eric Hungaro always seemed to be very Pat and Garrow like his father. I mean, Pat and Garrow was an outstanding great mayor. I think Eric Enger has some similar qualities to his dad. Perhaps he'll call and explain what that is about.
Yeah, that would be good. So any of you out there that know Eric Ngerro tell him to call the program and explain this and give them the phone number, and perhaps we'll find out, as opposed to speculates. How's the signature drive going these days to get rid of property taxes? Yeah, it's going good. I've already printed out 500 petitions for the Canfield Fair. I went and bought a lot of pens today, you know, for the event. So getting all my volunteers in order. So, yeah, we're ready to collect at the Canfield Fair and the other pop-ups that we do. And we have a new signing station in Lisbon. Frontier's Unlimited. So for people who are out in Lisbon. So, yeah, it's going good. Do you think they'll make the amount of signatures they need by the deadline? I would think we could. I mean, we just need to double what we have, you know, so I think we could. Because you want a pad, and there's substantial pad so that if ones are... Yes. I mean, you don't want to just have the, here's the bottom line. You want to go substantially above that to make sure that you have the pad there that's needed to have the... Right. Some breathing room, I guess, is what I'm saying. Yeah. I think Brian Thomas Massie would feel comfortable submitting $600,000. But less than that, I don't know. But we'll see. We've got to do it. It is. So anybody out there that want to help can just go to our website, ax.0.H.tax.com and, you know, download it and get 10, 20 signatures for us. Even Brian Thomas Massie knows that you're doing the best job around. I mean, you are really doing the best job. I've gathered these signatures. And here's the bottom line. You can see, did you hear that Ron DeSantis clip I played? The difference, the mentality of Ron DeSantis, who's embracing. getting rid of property taxes in Florida, versus a mentality around here on what you hear from all of these people here who don't even want to double the homestead exemption for a poorest senior citizens. It's unreal. So as they continue to get all these increases, substantial increases, they seem to be able to find a way to spend it all. Well, yeah. Yeah, I don't know. But, I mean, they did the owner occupancy. I think Humbiana, Trumbull and Mahoning all did the owner occupancy. I think Erie County was the only county that did both. So I don't know. I thought Lake County did both. No, Lake County only did one. They voted against Commissioner, no. They wouldn't do both. Really? Yeah. Yeah. I got to get him back on. I just got to make a point to call him. Yeah. Yeah, having me back on. Appreciate it. Keep up the fights. She's doing great work. News Radio 570, W. Kian. I mean, there's somebody who just spends a lot of time champion this cause. You can't help but sit back and admire her in all she does. Denise, you're doing a great job. Gather no signatures. Hey, it's Ron Verb from the Kingdom of Mahoning. Stay tuned.
Your one stop. Radio 570, WKBN. 354, it's 85 degrees, Monday, July 27th, News Radio 570 WKBN, and you're on the air. Hey, Ron, when G2 said that inflation was up only 2.21%. My girlfriend had just walked in the door, heard what he said. And she said, that guy on the talk show you listen to needs to start going to the grocery store. Well, I tried telling him, Matt, listen, it was exciting. I really, I just disagreed with what G2 was saying because he's doing the same thing that the Democrats did when Biden was in office. Would you agree when we had all this inflation and they were trying to act like it was not as bad as it actually is? And they were trying to statistically try to tell you how good it is and we don't realize why you don't feel it's so great. You remember those days. Well, he was trying to do the same thing that the Democrats were doing, and it's just nonsense. Well, you know, Ron, gas is only $4 a gallon. It's off. It's high of five-something. Well, I don't care. It's still higher than it was a 250 a gallon before the war started. I'm with you 100% on that. I mean, that was not registering with me at all from a standpoint of as a consumer. I'm with you. And I'm with your girl. I guess I'm not with you, Frank. I'm with your girlfriend. I got enough girlfriends, so I got a couple to spare. You want one? No. I got a wife. That's all I need. Okay. Hey, I don't know where G2 gets his numbers from, but according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, inflation was actually down four-tenths of a percent for June, seasonally adjusted, but it's still up 3.5 percent for the past 12 months. And also... We both know government understates the rate of inflation, so the true inflation rate could be double 3.5%. Now, as far as the stock market, another down day, here's the headline financial news on one website. Dow up... S&P 500 and NASDAQ lag in final hour at start of big week for Decker earnings and waiting on the Fed's interest rate policy. And another one says stock market only briefly rallies on Iran war pause. It used to skyrocket when there was any hope of the war ending. The market, I think, is realizing this is all bull crap. Let me quote you from George Orwell, 1984. He said, wars are not meant to be one. They're meant to be continuous. So, you know, all these multi-billionaires can make even more money on funding both sides of the war.
And if I said to you, I'm not optimistic when it comes to this entire situation when it comes to the economy. I mean, this whole time we've been tapping into the strategic oil reserves as China has done. China's cut back consumption. China's cut into theirs, which is larger than ours. So we've done all of this to try to keep the price of oil and gasoline down. But guess what? We're running out of that option because we're depleting all the reserves. So all of these oil experts that everybody was poo-pooing are saying, hey, you've got a serious problem coming here in August, end of July, August, because you're not going to be able to tap into this stuff. Very much longer. Stand by, Frank. All right, hang on. Back with Fort Lauderdale, Frank. Other callers in line standby. Ron Verb, News Radio 570, WKB. Hey, good afternoon. Glad you tuned in.
