Like I always do when we're talking about polling, let me lead with the caveats. Take these polls with a grain of salt. They're not perfect representations of what the electorate thinks. They're snapshots in time, and there is a margin of error. That being said, let me run through what this University of North Florida poll found when it comes to Florida's property tax amendment. Support for it ranged from 61% supporting it to 45% supporting it depending on how its effects were described to voters. So support reached 61% just over that 60% threshold needed for passage when voters were told cities and counties would be required to fund only core services with remaining tax revenue. Support fell to 45% when voters were told the amendment would create an almost $12 billion shortfall for Florida cities and counties over two years. So basically, how the amendment is worded on the ballot, which is already the subject of lawsuits, and you can see why, that could play a big role in whether or not it passes. That makes a lot of sense. I mean, if you think that it's going to be good for you, you're going to save the money, but everything's still going to be provided, then you're good. If you think, if you just hear about the money. I thought it was notable that even with it worded in a way that would lead to more support, it's still... hits 61%, which, again, just over that 60% threshold, which makes it real tight there. I think this is going to be pretty close. You've got a lot of money pouring in on the no vote side, not as much pouring in in support of the amendment. And then a big factor is Ron DeSantis coming out and saying he's not going to really campaign for it. He was a critical... part of the amendments on abortion of marijuana going down in the last election. He was all over the state and he was...

Doing some things with state funding to get ads on TV to kind of shoot down those amendments as well, saying that he's not necessarily going to be campaigning for this amendment because he didn't like some of the changes. The legislature made to it changes, I think, especially, you know, exempting the school portion of property taxes. I think that that only helps potentially get it over the finish line. And then you've got some differences in opinion among... Republican candidates for governor. You've got Lieutenant Governor Jay Collins. He wants a state fund. to help rural towns and counties who are going to be really impacted if this amendment passes. And then you got Byron Donalds, who doesn't want that fund because he doesn't want those towns and counties to have to go before the state legislature every year. And like he said, kind of sing for their supper. I have to make the case for why they should get some of those grants and some of that funding. We'll have more on that tomorrow when we talk some more Florida politics on the show. Listen live to the Ryan Gorman Show on IHeart Radio every weekday morning on WIOD in Miami.
