Jared Fox Matthews back in the studio. Good to see you again, brother. All good. Good to see you. Oh, yeah. Life's good. Well, the last time I saw you was here, I believe. I think we were doing a crawfish boil last time. Crawfish boil. You don't get to hear that very often. That's all good. All 1,200 pounds got eight. So, yeah, it was a lot. You are the proprietor, the proprietor, the bar keep, all those things of... Dishwasher, too. The Fox Den, billiards, bites, and brews. The fifth annual Fox Fest is coming up, and we're pretty excited about that because I know it's a good time. Jacob Lockstone's also in the studio with us, a musician with the band Hooker. Good to see you, Jacob. Good to see you, too. Isn't this fun to be on a bill with a whole lot of bands? Absolutely always, yes, sir. Tell me about your band, Hooker. Hooker. We are from Central Kentucky, been together 20 years. We're going to be a little different than the other bands. We got a little twang mixed in with hard rock, but I think it's going to be pretty special for us. And we always love doing stuff with Jared. Jared's a big proponent in the Louisville music scene and supporter. He's an all-around good guy. We all know that about him. Absolutely. So what happened? You were a kid and you heard a certain type of music, you thought, that's for me. And then you got a little older and you heard some other type music. You thought, let me mold that in. It's just an eclected group of musicians. Man, went to school together and been playing together for that long. And whatever comes up is what comes out, you know, all the influences. Don't you love that? Yep. That's something like that is just organic anyway. You and your friends, you all know how to make each other laugh. And if you can create music together, that's even better. It's pretty special, yes, sir. Right. Hey, Jared, tell me about the day coming up. Yeah, so it's this Saturday. I talked to Jesus earlier. He told me it's not going to rain, so you don't have to worry about that. That is so awesome. And it's very thoughtful of Jesus. Yeah, he's going to take the temperature down, too. It's amazing. Actually, that is happening. Yes. So both of it's happening. I'm telling you'll see. You'll see. So it's this Saturday. It's at Fox Den, which is in the heart of St. Matthews. It is the fifth annual Fox Fest. So we do... Two different stages, 11 different bands, a lot of Louisville local bands. And we also have a couple national acts. One of the national acts is Flaw, which is a band that is from Louisville, who kind of made it to the regional level, and they're coming back for a hometown show. The doors open at two. Music starts at 3 o'clock, doesn't stop until about 1 a.m. Two different stages. We have... six different food trucks coming out of one kitchen. So it's really cool. So we have like a burger shack. We have an Islander noodle shack and it's going to be great. So and then the portions of the proceeds are going to go to Love City Inc. I love that that mission. Yeah. It's amazing. So it's a it's a organization in the Portland neighborhood basically just.

teaching the community how to empower them. And there are schools there, their gardens there where we sell fresh produce to farmers markets. It's great. That couple that dreamed that up is they're fantastic too. They're, Sean and Inga are fantastic. Yeah, I've been here in a studio before. Well, this is fun. Everybody likes the festival. And you're right. The weather is going to improve for Saturday, August 1. Yeah, it's August and it feels good. Again, we'll learn that after these. I know today's brutal out there. You almost melt walking down the street a little bit. There's a whole lot of bands. How do you decide? How do we line them up? So if you go to the Foxden, Louisville.com, if you go to our Facebook page, you will see all the set times. So, like, if you're wanting to come see a certain band, it'll be there. But, yeah, we just kind of go. one stage on, and then you can listen to that band for 30 minutes, and the next one will go on, and you can just kind of alter. So you can catch all bands, a little, not the whole set. Jacob, you know, when you're involved like in a roast, you know, a comedian roast, you know, a comedian roast, whatever, you want to, your placement in the order is important because you don't want to be last because all the good stuff's been said. Oh, okay. How do you feel about music when they post you at a certain time there? Do you like to be like in the middle of that or because late at night sometimes people, they lose focus? I'll tell you what, Terry. To be honest, as cliche as it might sound, just to be on the bill is great. I like to hear that. Just to be on the bill is great. We're lucky enough to play dead men. Are you running for office because that was deft? No, sir. We're in a great spot. Thank you, Jared, for that. We appreciate it. Well, you know, it's so funny. I have some bands that are playing like at six or seven and they're like, Where they used to like playing like 10 or 11, they're like, dude, I'm old, man. I'm going to raise my hand for that. You know what? I'm going to raise my hand for that. I mean, Jacob's been blaming me, what, 50 years, 40 years? We're not that old. Not that old. It's at least 16, I think, though. It's like 16. That's great. Way before he was at the level he is now. But you're with your buddies that you've been with for a lot of years. Yes, yeah. And you do everything without even having to look at anybody. Everybody just knows that everybody else does. There's some clairvoyancy going on, some things where you're just reading each other's minds. That's the special stuff. You're always chasing what happened in the garage when you're 14. That's right. But an improv group is the same way. It's just once you get everybody's rhythm, you don't have to even see him. I don't even have to look at Jared. I know what he's going to roll out next. And then boom, I come back with whatever I'm going to do. Yeah, sounds like you've been there before. Well, in this context. The Terry Meiders band. Have you seen that long? It's all good. We're smoking. But Fox Fest is a big deal. I know a lot of people love it, and it's this Saturday and a chance for people to celebrate because not everybody's away on vacation. They get a chance to come out in a good weather. I just realized what your shirt is. That is fantastic. For those of you,

It's the fact I'll have to post your picture online. It says Jesus has your back, and then it shows Jesus, and he's got Satan in a chokehold. That's a jitzy reference there. That is fantastic. Yeah, you don't see that at Walmart. It's custom-made there. All right, Fox Fest is Saturday. Doors open. Two o'clock. What time's the music start? Three o'clock. Food everywhere, you know, cold drinks, of course, too. That's important. And the community impact is of huge importance. Yeah, partying for a reason. Good work. All right, where do we send people for tickets? So you can go to the Foxden, Louisville.com or ticket web. Tickets are $20 in advance. They're 25 day a show, but I would recommend getting them early because it could sell out. So, yeah, it's going to be great. It's a... A lot of fun, good music. It's not just hard rock. There's a band called Throwback Thursday. They are fantastic. They do like Backstreet Boy covers and a pop rock too. They're fantastic. That's a great idea to throwback days. All right, Jared, appreciate you as always. Jacob, great to talk with you as well. It's Fox Fest on Saturday. Doors open at 2 o'clock. Give them the website one more time, Jared. The Foxden, Louisville.com. Boom, that was easy. Back in a minute on News Radio 840, WHA.
