It is a June, no, it isn't. It is July 28th. You know what, here's the problem. I'm looking at CNN, and there was a story, and at the top of the right-hand story, it was June 9th. And the story was they were replaying a June 9 story. So instead I have to get away from looking at the screen. You just blamed it on CNN? I did. You don't know the calendar? That is correct. So then I'm looking down at the sheet, my rundown sheet. And there it is. Tuesday, July 28, 2026. I should actually put that up because at the top it's here's Amy King live from the KFI 24 hour newsroom so I know who's in the newsroom and I know that I throw to news and then under that Bill Handel show so I know the name of our show. It's time for Handel on the News with Amy, Neal, and me. Lead story. Get off the morning. Well, the president went to Supreme Court yesterday and has asked for basically an emergency order allowing his restricting mail voting executive order to go into place. And the president, I think he's going to lose big time because by law, Congress determines how elections, federal elections are handled. And he is saying that he has the right to basically overturn that provision using the Postal Service and a few other ways of doing it. And to me, it seems crazy. It was like his birthright citizenship. I thought he was nuts because his position was in direct violation of what the 14th Amendment said about birthright. What stunned at me is the court came six to three. Three justices agreed with him that birthright citizenship is not a right. Doesn't even matter what the 14th Amendment said. They're going back historically why it was passed, all of that business. And it really makes no sense. On its face, it says it. Same thing with this. It's the states that control elections, period, done in the Constitution. He's arguing that he can bypass that. He will get two or three or four. Justices on his side. That's the part that stuns me. Not his view. I think he's nuts, as you know. I mean, he believes the presidency is that the legislature doesn't exist. Okay, I get that. But it's the courts who are running in favor of him. By the way, he has lost in every single lower court across the board. So we'll see. I don't think the Supreme Court's good. Well, they heard it. So we'll see.

Or they will hear it, I think. Go ahead. Takebacks. So Brian Coburger is currently serving four life sentences for murdering four University of Idaho students in their home. Remember that happened a few years ago. He pled guilty to avoid getting the death penalty and avoid a trial. Well, now he's filed a petition challenging the conviction. He wants to take back his guilty plea. In a statement, he said, my actual innocence is my truth, and the plea hinged on by false promises and blatant disinformation must be withdrawn. Yeah, he's got a problem. First of all, the courts almost never overturn these kinds of guilty pleas. Because if you look at the trial itself, there's video, the judge straight out, did you do this? Yes. Was there any pressure? No. Do you admit the killing of this human being? Yes. Over and over again, he said that. And he confessed, I mean, right from the get-go. And now he is saying, no, none of that. I take it all back. I want my guilty plea, not guilty plea reinstated or I want to instate my guilty plea or not guilty. And so the court's probably not going to do this. And you know who's representing him? Nobody. He's doing it himself. He's nuts. He is because he's not entitled. Now, if he was dirt poor, he's entitled to state representation before conviction, not afterwards. Unless it's a death penalty. Unless it's a death penalty. And then the state pays for it. Other than that, nope. So we jumped from a murder case on to another murder case. A judge ruled yesterday that there is plenty of evidence to put David. No, no, you keep on mispronouncing his name. It's the for Vord. It's the forvid.

WD4D, they're going to be able to put him on trial. No crap. Oh, yeah. Dismemberment of a 14-year-old Celeste Rebus Hernandez. Authority said that she had threatened him. I guess there's a text that says, I will end your career in life and a text message before the night before she. was killed and she said she was going to expose their relationship. Keep in mind she was 14 years old, I believe when it started. And Crater, this wing nuts life and his career. It started when she was 11, I think. 14 is what she was upon her death. And the bar to being held over for trial, binding someone over for trial is very, very low. And so, I mean, just that text alone would probably do it. And then, of course, finding her body in his car up the street because he's such a genius. killing her and putting her parts of her in plastic bags and then leaving it in his car and parking three blocks away. Hey, Bill, I have a question for you. Yeah. So if the bar is that low and you say that just that one piece of information, I would think so, yeah. Why did they need to do four days of testimony? And it was graphic. I don't know. I don't know why they went that far. I really do not. And maybe it's because the defense was attacking and putting up some kind of a defense. And so the prosecutors know that, you know, which way the defense is going to go four days on a preliminary hearing. Man, that is a long, long time. So I don't know the answer to that. Do Teslas have cameras? I wonder if even if you. delete the images somehow if they still are somewhere? But is a camera on when the Tesla is off and parked? Yeah. Yeah, because that's how they're catching the guys who are keying and vandalizing the Tesla. Huh. The guy in Orange County right now is free painting them or something. Okay, so I've got to really rethink what I do in Tesla's. No, no, the cameras can't capture that. Thank you. Yeah, thanks very much. I have to go back and ask for a refund. Not of the test slip. Never mind. Let's just move on. Proof of life. But Mitch McConnell yesterday released a statement and a picture. Actually, his office did. Of him and his wife sitting there smiling with him still in what appears to be a hospital bed. He says he is still working hard to get back to his full schedule of work in the Senate. And also in Kentucky at Kentucky. And he says keeping up with intense physical therapy for his doctor's orders, he remains at that rehab facility says he's not ready to come back to Congress yet. And newsflash, he's going to miss the upcoming 2026 fancy farm picnic. Yeah. A staple of Kentucky politics. Right. Which number one, he never missed. And number two, the birthplace of that great periodical barnyard love.

Am I the only one that that wants to go to that? No, there are a few people as soon as they get out of prison would love to go back. I mean, just like a farm festival with like pie and stuff? Yeah, I think so. I think so. It's one of those old. Yeah, it was one of those old-fashioned county fairs. I like county fair or Orange County Fair is pretty good in that regard. But it's not that flavor, that old Midwest flavor. That just doesn't well. It's going on now, as a matter of fact. All right. So more on that, Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear has a message for Mitch McConnell. Either the state senior senator should explain his long absence from the Senate and give details about his health or resign. Very blunt letter just said, hey, man, it's been 43 days since you've been, you know, hospitalized. You haven't been. doing your job and you have to you have to give details and how how can you blame that i mean well he's it's your job but he is in a rehab center uh and he is rehabbing but do we know what he has do we know anything about the sickness it's it I mean, let me ask this. I mean, do we have a right to know? I think to a certain extent we do. I don't think we know, we have to know specifics. There is a statement from his doctor or actually the statement is from the doctor who handles the Senate. I mean, I think there's an official Senate doctor. And I think they got an okay on that one. So it's one or the other. But I think I had surgery back in June. Yes. Five days I was out and I got a note from HR saying if you're out more than five days, you have to go on leave. I'm like I couldn't, I would have to shut down my email. I couldn't have contact. Oh, that's stupid. Yep. That's what I'm saying. Yeah, that's just dumb. I'm like a third banana on morning show. And if I'm out more than five days. Okay. First of all, you're not giving yourself enough credit, Neil. You're the fourth banana. Okay, that's for starters. Second, you know, five days you have to shut down. I can't imagine. You know, when I had my back and heart surgery within two weeks of each other, remember I was out for five months? Yes, we all remember. I knew, and I remember that too, sort of. I was in and out of all that wonderful drug, you know, the litany of drugs that I was taking. And they shut me, I don't have an email. Okay, so that makes it easy. So I don't. You're not an employee the same way we are. That's also true. I'm technically not an employee of the station. That is absolutely correct. Okay, one more, and we keep on going. We got a 15-year-old killer, allegedly.

There was the shooting in Seattle near the Space Needle at a food festival over the weekend. And police say that the person that they have arrested in connection with that shooting is... 15 years old, they are now looking for three total shooters. So there's two other potential shooters. Three people were killed. At least four others were hurt, including a two-year-old. The good news is the ones who were hurt have all been released from the hospital. But still three people are dead. And they are saying that it may have been gang-related and it appears that the shooters were shooting at each other. Isn't the two-year-old still in the hospital? Yeah, but it's going to be fine. Everybody's released. I mean, the, at least the ones that are still alive are, it looks like they're going to survive. There's no life-threatening injuries. Do you see a video of them carting this kid away? Baggy pants, really wild hair, big kid. I mean, for 15 years old, he was a really good-sized kid. And then if you listen to the 911 calls, you'll hear that there was rapid fire. It sounded like on an almost automatic fire. They were shooting at each other in this crowded place. This is when, I love it, 15-year-olds are going to be held to juvenile standards, which means you basically do almost no time in prison. You know, in California, it doesn't matter how heinous a crime that you commit under the age of 16. If you're 15 and you literally take a gun and mow down a kindergarten class, you're out of jail, you're out of prison at 26, no matter what happens. Yeah, but you know what gets me is if I'm cornered by three 15 year olds and I, and I defend myself. I'm probably going to jail. Oh, yeah. I mean, it's just completely nuts. It is. But nowadays, what's a 15-year-old packing a gun or a knife or anything like that? Yeah. U.S. President Donald Trump, he's hosting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, not in New York. He doesn't want to get arrested there. And Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky today. There's obviously wars in Iran and Ukraine. Then they're both at critical stages. They're both, both leaders, very different tact when it comes to defending themselves originally. Trump and Benjamin Netanyahu being incredibly close, but not so close anymore. He's upset with him. Yeah, look at what's happening. And Benjamin Netanyahu is pushing, pushing, pushing the United States to go against Iran under any circumstances. Trump has all kinds of problems in terms of the United States and his approval level, his approval rating based on what's happening on the war to some extent. Volodymyr Zelensky, who was on the outs.

Volodymyr Zelensky's on the outs is now on the ins with President Trump. And why is that? Because Volodymyr Zelensky is winning. Because it has turned the corner and Trump loves a winner. And it is that simple. I don't think politics has anything to do with it. But the president has some doing some real juggling here. You know, what do you do with Israel? What do you do with Tehran? What do you do with Ukraine and Russia? I mean, he is juggling a lot of balls to say the least. Hey, yo. We have a settlement. Johnson and Johnson has agreed to pay $5.5 billion to resolve the remaining lawsuits that claim talcum powder causes ovarian cancer. It ends litigation that has been going on for more than a decade. We were talking about this during wake-up call, and I'm like, didn't this already happen, but they still had these pending lawsuits, and it has been going on for more than 10 years. If the deal goes through, It will put an end to a long-running source of trouble for Johnson and Johnson as the litigation hung over the company. It's offered to make settlements before, but they were never able to finalize them. Yeah, I've always wondered about this because the agreement, according to this story, Wall Street Journal, is conditional. 95% of remaining claimants participating have to basically have to agree to the settlement. What happens to the 5% that don't agree? Well, I guess they're going to, they're decided they're going to go to trial. And so they're still looking at trials, but not very relative to the number of people that they're going to settle with. This thing is going to go away. But man, what does talc used for? I remember it like for baby powder. It's basically baby powder. And people, people use it all the time. People use talc all the time. I'm themselves. And I don't know if there's a real connection between. baby powder and the cancer. I don't know if that's been proven. Remember, A-LAR that was used on apples to keep apples fresh? Do you remember that? And there was an argument there. Yeah, there was a huge settlement there, and it turned out there was no connection. So it's, yeah, I don't know what to do on this one. I don't use baby powder, so I don't care. A lot of women did and a lot of women got ovarian cancer. But yeah, that's a kind of hard thing to ignore. No, I understand, but it was, there really was no, from what I understand now, there was an incidence of an increase, but they really couldn't explain it. It was causal increase. More people got cancer who use it than didn't. Does that mean that that was the cause? You know, that argument, it wasn't a direct A equals B equals C. And that is usually the case when you're looking at these suits against drug manufacturers and food manufacturers for that, for that matter. We moving on? Yeah, one more.

Okay, so audio clips that we've been hearing about for a while, former President Joe Biden's conversations with his biographer appears to support what former special counsel Robert Hur found in his 2024 report, that is, Biden disclosed classified material, was forgetful and continued to possess classified material after leaving his post as vice president. So he says things like they didn't even know I had this and stuff like that. But the audio tapes Biden can be heard cavalierly discussing the notes that he kept as vice president. Which is illegal, which is completely illegal. Now, theoretically, can he be tagged for this? Yeah, I think so. The point is, you know, would the Trump administration go after him? Because if he did disclose classified material, that is a crime. Not allowed to do that. So I wonder what the politics would be. I'll tell you what the defense is going to be. He is so old and decrepit, he doesn't even remember. I think it's legitimate. I think that's. Didn't they already say that they wouldn't, is it was it her who said we're not going to prosecute him because he's going to come across as an old guy who is compromised? Yeah, well, that's her. But that doesn't mean that the Trump administration is going to go the other way. It's mercurial. I just think the politics of it are so gone and dead. But, you know, remember, the election of 2020 was still rigged, rigged, rigged. So. And I don't know the answer to that. I really know. But there was nothing militia. There was nothing. No. It was not him. And it didn't harm us in any way, right? No, I don't think so. I don't think so. It was just the disclosing of classified material. And I don't even think the argument was that it harmed us in any way. Not dismissed a judge. has ruled that a defense request to dismiss murder charges is denied. Frazier Bome is the person charged with murder. Defense attorneys had asked the court to throw out the charges against Bome, who was allegedly speeding on Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu in 2023 when he lost control of his car and hid. It's parked cars and those parked cars then crashed into four sorority sisters from Pepperdine University, killing all four of them. Yeah, we're not talking about guilt or innocence here. It's simply a technical discussion and argument whether that crash met the standard for murder or did it not. That's the technical argument is that under these circumstances, did it meet those standards? And the defense is going to argue it did not. State of mind. There's a lot going on here. But this is when they talk about technicalities in the law. Well, and could this be one, too, where, you know, like sometimes you'll come back with a not guilty verdict and then they'll say they overcharged him.

Yeah, yeah. And they'll go, what usually happens is that a bunch of charges, manslaughter and murder and and and and and the jury comes back and only goes to the lesser conviction. Because if the prosecutor goes just one, go for murder and the defense argues this wasn't murder, then if the jury buys that, that's an acquittal. Thank you. It was not murder. You walk. Now, if you include all of the lesser charges, then the jury has the ability to choose. It's like going to an old-time Chinese restaurant. You take from column A, you take from column B, column B, and if you have enough people, then you get to add another order of gung-pow chicken. That is the legal definition. This was what I taught in law school, which is why I didn't last very long as a professor in law school. I just wanted to point that out. Moving on. Did that help, by the way, Amy? Yes. Thank you. Wow. I don't see how. California has got an uptick in COVID-19. You remember that? That fun time we had? So health officials, they do a couple of things. They see the rising test positivity rates go up, emergency room visits, those types of things. And then they go through the poop. They go through wastewater and they test the wastewater. I guess, you know, urine and your poop have the tail tail.

Signs of COVID in there. So this has been happening, though, during the summer months that it's hard to believe that COVID is still around, but it is. It's become, now it's become basically endemic as part of life every year. It's like the flu comes in. And it's certainly not what the extent that it was or the, the, the. seriousness that was, of course, during COVID when over a million Americans died. Free tickets. Free tickets. Question. After watching NFL games, growing up on NFL and college football, flag football? And I don't care how good players are. Doesn't that seem just a little bit of, you know, not real football kind of football? I don't know. We'll have to wait and see. I've never watched a professional flag football. There isn't a professional flag football team out there, not that I know of, or league. You still have to be athletic and run real fast. No, no, I'm not arguing that. No, I'm not arguing that. You have to be athletic and strategic standing on your hands. Does that mean you're going to do Olympic hand standing on your hands races? So now they can not get brain damage. Yeah, that's half the fun of football is watching these guys get brain damage. What's football? A day without brain damage in football is like a day without sunshine. Okay. Okay, we're done.
