HACC's new president focusing on students' needs, workforce development

Central Pennsylvania's Community College has a new president, and the college is evolving to meet students' needs. Hack, Central Pennsylvania's Community College, is no exception to the changing landscape of higher education. The college saw a 3.1% decrease in enrollment in the last year as a demographic cliff looms, and more students are interested in online learning. President Daniel Lufkin says HACS board approved the sale or lease of seven campus buildings in order to accommodate the changing needs of students. We are not closing any of our campuses. We will continue to serve our communities. We will right size our footprint because we don't utilize the facilities as we did. 15, 20 years ago. So it only makes sense in terms of our facilities, long-term sustainability, to look at the sale or lease of those buildings. In his first year, Lufkin says he plans to learn and listen and build on pre-existing relationships with employers in the region to identify and fill gaps in the workforce.
