Three Mile Island reactor restart progresses through environmental review, public comments

Three Mile Island is on schedule to receive nuclear material by the end of the year as it progresses toward its reopening. The nuclear material will be held in storage outside the reactor for now. The Christopher M. Crane Clean Energy Center Three Mile Island's rebranded name, is working toward its operating license, expected by regulators and the company to be granted in May of 2027. The project has political support from the Trump and Josh Shapiro administrations, from local unions, and from pro-atomic energy advocacy groups. Eric Epstein is a local activist who has watchdog Three Mile Island for four decades. He says he's not convinced by the emergency response plan currently being rewritten by FEMA. I think you should plan assuming that it's a Friday night football game, snow, and that Route 30, Route 81, and Route 83 are caught. Epstein spoke at a meeting run by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, which expects to have at least one more opportunity for public comment before deciding whether to allow the nuclear power plant to restart.
