20 segmentsIt's all talk on a Thursday morning. I'm Kevin Deeds coming to you from the Golden Tower of the Fisher Building. The number is 1-800-859-0-9-7. 1-800-5-90 W-JR. What do you do when lawmakers won't pass something that the overwhelming majority of Americans support? That's exactly where Republicans say they are with the SAVE Act. The bill would require proof of U.S. citizenship to register to vote in federal elections. Supporters say... It's common sense. Only American citizens should vote and proving citizenship protects election integrity. Critics counter, though, that non-citizen voting is already illegal and argue that the bill makes it harder for some eligible citizens to register to vote. The House has already passed it, but it's stalled in the Senate, and Republicans don't have the 60 votes needed to overcome a filibuster. Now some Senate Republicans are considering attaching the SAVE Act to a must-pass government funding bill, raising the possibility of a showdown before the September 30th funding deadline. This was Donald Trump talking about maybe we just have to get rid of the filibuster. They should terminate the filibuster to prove everything. Because the Democrats are going to do it. The Democrats are going to terminate the filibuster as soon as they have a chance. And then they're going to approve Puerto Rico and D.C. as a state. So Donald Trump was pleased with Speaker Mike Johnson for getting this through the House, but the Senate, it won't make it. This was Speaker Mike Johnson. And the budget resolution that unlocks our third reconciliation bill, which of course is Republicans' best shot to get as much of the Save America Act into law as possible, in addition to funding our national defense and our farmers. Republicans support our troops, our farmers, and election security. We're the only team in Washington that does. Despite nearly every Democrat voting against everything I just read you, House Republicans delivered. So what do you do when lawmakers won't pass something that the overwhelming majority of American support? Let's bring in Joe Gruders, RNC Chairman. Good morning, sir. How are you? Hey, doing great this morning. Thanks for having me on. Yeah, I appreciate you being here. Mike Johnson is doing his job, but what's going on in the Senate? Listen, we're pushing in the Democrats are completely united against anything. And I always say it's common sense versus basically communism. That's what you see not only in the Senate, but it crossed all these nominations, all these elections moving forward. We're fighting hard every day. But I'm glad the House passed some common sense things yesterday, including the ban of basically insider trading for members. Yeah, they've done that, but that's going to get knocked out too probably by Democrats, isn't it? Yeah, listen, they don't want to pass every single Democrat voted against it yesterday. So, yeah, they're not supporting it. So here's what the Democrats want. They want chaos. They have no policies other than the fact that they want zero momentum.
I always say it's not Trump derangement syndrome. It's America derangement syndrome. They're rooting against the country. Why would you go against stuff like the Save America Act and basic comments and things like voter ID? Right? You have to have your ID to go get pasta at the never-ending pasta bowl at Olive Garden. But you don't have to have an ID to vote. I mean, these guys are, it's crazy. But that's where the Democrat Party is heading. I actually think they're in a death spiral. I think we have a chance for a transformational election this November. I think we could take it on to 2028. And once we redo the census with no illegals in it, I think you're going to see a shift of seats. and even a bigger margin for Republicans. Is Donald Trump correct in saying that maybe we should think about getting rid of the filibuster because the Democrats would do it first chance anyway? Or is that too far? They've already proved it. We know that's what they're going to do. The only two Democrats that said no were the two guys that they primarily, they basically mentioned they forced out. And then they got Sienna and they primaried her. And so she had to drop out. Yes, the Democrats are 100% going to do it. The Democrats are cheat, lie, and steal every day to try to win these elections. That's why we have 150 lawsuits against them and 36 states from coast to coast. You know, we don't do that because we want to. We do that because we have to because the Democrats are trying to fundamentally change our country. They lost the working man, and so they're going after these illegals. trying to have tens of millions of illegals come across the border, give them the amnesty and give them voting rights so they have some new voting base. We're not going to let it happen, but that's why we're fighting so hard. You know, the polling shows that the vast majority, over 80% support requiring proof of citizenship to vote. The Senate won't pass. this bill. Why aren't they being punished at the polls or will they be punished at the polls? Chuck Schumer every day comes on and says this is going to disenfranchise voters, but voters, including Democrats, want this. Listen, of course they want to. I don't know if you saw that 50% plus the Democrat voters have a positive opinion of socialism. You know, this is what happens when you have Zohran Mamdani running your party. You have Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Zohran Mamdani, Bernie Sanders. Now you have, they've inspired all these leftist radicals to run. And these mini momdamis are winning all across their country, not just in big cities, but in middle America. And like I said, they're trying to change your country. And believe them when they tell you what they want to do. They want to have open borders. Forget about the disaster policy that cashless bail is. They don't want criminal policies. They don't want jails. This is, I mean, they're actually saying this. It's common sense versus communism.
We have to do everything we can come together as a party to make sure we reelect parties for the president so he could finish and we can continue on. Listen, if somehow they win the House of the Senate, it's going to be investigations, it's going to be obstruction, it's going to be impeachment, it's going to be total chaos, exactly what the Democrats want. We have about a minute left, but explain the strategy of attaching the SAVE Act to government funding and will it work. Listen, we're trying to do everything humanly possible to make sure it passes because we think that a safe and secure election system is the only... way to guarantee the future of our country. The fact that they're fighting it so hard, and yes, we have to try different ways to try to make it happen. And we're going to continue to fight it. And yes, I hope it does happen. And if not, we have enough Maga Warriors and the Hopper that are going to come back in November, new senators that will make sure that it passes along with some of the other proposals the president wants to see. in office. And so we're excited about our candidates. We're excited about the future. We're going to defy history this November, but we need everybody go to GOP.com and give us your time and treasure. Volunteer. Make sure we win, save the country, and help save the world. Joe Grunters is the chairman of the Republican National Committee. Real honor to have you on this morning. Thanks so much for your time. Thank you. It's All Talk. I'm Kevin Deetz.
