Check in with our good friend up in Delaware County. Republican strategist, it's Bob Clegg. Bob, how is the weekend? Oh, weekend was great, Mike. It was beautiful up here, had dinner with friends last night at Vittorias, which is a great Italian restaurant. Oh, yeah. Aaron Jerome Powell. So it was good weekend. Good. Glad to hear that. So we are 99 days from the midterm elections. It is coming at us quick, just a little more than three months away. And I see a lot of these reports and these analysts. People are now starting to predict how it's going to go. And right now they're saying Democrats will get an edge in the House. While Republicans will maintain control of the Senate, although we'll lose seats, it'll be a 50-50 split in the Senate, of course, giving Republicans the one-vote edge if both gets voted on party lines and JD Vance gets the tiebreaker there. Have you seen those speculations? Yeah, I've seen that speculation, Mike, but I've seen others, too. I personally don't believe it's going to end up being a 50-50 Senate. I think the most likely number that I think it's going to be is 5248. So the House, that's a different story. I'll tell you, though, six months ago, I would have said, oh, it's definitely going to, you know, flip to the Democrats. But now, you know, with the redistricting things that occurred in the last few months and just general behavior of the communist Democrats. I think it's going to, you know, I think things are going to be a lot closer than people think. Yeah, both parties have their issues right now for the Republicans. It's the war in Iran. I mean, that's really all it is. It's, you know, and gas prices, you know. The Democrats are going to bang this affordability thing into the ground, you know. And, you know, it's not all because of the war, but that's going to be their main focus. It's, it's, they're going to call it an unpopular war. And it's dragging on. And a lot can happen there between now and then, by the way, and that could change. That is their big argument. And for the Democrats, they've got a number of different things. First of all, they have no money. Yeah. And then they get this whole socialist problem that's cropping up. Talk about that for a second. Yeah. I mean, both parties, you know, have issues going into this election. And you talk about the Republicans. We're in charge. So people are going to blame us for everything. Okay. Right. But the Democrats have, I think, even a worse problem.
This branding that is occurring to the Democrat Party because of these socialists that are out there that have these crazy ideas and then put up crazy candidates. I mean, we saw what happened in Maine. It got so bad they had to have their guy drop off, and then they appoint another person just this past weekend that is equally as crazy as the guy they replaced. Then up in Michigan... They have, you know, a guy up there Abdul El-Sayed who, you know, just signed on to everything that the socialists want. And you know what? It's scaring Americans. And that's why I think... The Republicans have a fighting chance this fall is the Democrats are scaring Americans. But there's a certain percentage, and mainly the younger voters, and probably of that, young female voters under maybe 40, they're lapping this up, though. They're thinking, you know what, this is the answer. We saw it with Zohran Mamdani in New York City. and people just they're not getting the message that socialism has never worked nor will it ever work well it's that bright new shiny thing that's out there in the political world even though you and i know it's not that new it's old but they've cleaned it up They've dressed it up. They're trying to sell it as well. It's not what we have now, and what we have now is terrible. So we've got to do something new. But I think there's enough Americans that know better. And I think as we progress in not only this campaign, but in the years to come, you're going to see Republicans, once again, explaining to people what this all means. And you mentioned Zohran Mamdani. And the good thing about that is he's actually going to implement. those plans in New York City. And let's say a year from now, two years from now, three years from now, let's see how well those policies are working in New York City. Yeah, the Democrat Socialist Agenda includes abolishing jail, abolishing the U.S. Senate, Bob, abolishing ICE. No surprise there. I mean, like, really, you want to get rid of jail? Like, who thinks that's a good idea? They are crazy. And they had their vice chairman on Fox News, I think, yesterday, where she went down and explained very clearly what they want to do, and it's all of those things you said, and others like doing away with the Supreme Court. I mean, it's just... It's crazy how they're out there. And the Democrat Party is letting these crazy people to take over their party. Well, that's scary. And there's a lot of moderate Democrats that are too afraid to push back on these folks. There's only one that isn't.
Mike, and that's John Fetterman from... Imagine that. You know, we... He was not afraid. We used to, I used to, you know, kind of jab at him a little bit. And, of course, he... Oh, I did too. He, you know, he was elected right after, I think he had a stroke, and, you know, he wears hoodies to work. But, boy, talk about a guy that's got a little bit of common sense. It's John Fetterman. Well, and you know what? He's being crucified by his own party over that to the point where, I'll tell you, if it ends up being a 50-50 Senate, I could see John Fetterman saying, you know what, I've had enough of this. Switch parties. He may not become a Republican, but he'll become an independent that will caucus with the Republicans. He really understands it. He understands the hate for Israel that the socialists have. He understands all of that. And he's about the only one in their party that does. Senate race here in Ohio is going to be, are you starting to see money starting to flow for the John Houston shared brown race? They're both up on TV and running. The money, though, isn't quite as much as what's happening in the gubernatorial race, which is right at this point a one-sided deal, because the only one spending money is Vivek Ramaswamy. And, you know, Amy Acton, I don't think spent a dime yet on TV or anything. But she knows she's going to get outspent. But, yeah, the Senate race is going to bring in a lot of money, but, you know, John Houston should be able to keep up with... Sherrod. So I think, you know, I think John's going to be fine. Do you see that Amy Acton last week came out and said that, you know, one of her campaign promises is she's going to try to reduce property tax? It's like, what, what? I heard that somewhere else before. Oh, like this time last year when Vivek Ramaswamy said he wants to cut property tax. Like you're stealing his ideas. Well, of course she is because. She knows if she runs true to who she is, which is a liberal Democrat, she'll lose in a landslide. So what they have to do is they have to try to hide what they're really going to do when they get elected. And that's exactly what she's doing. The interesting thing, though, Mike, about that, is she never talked about, well, where's the money going to come from to make up for all that money you're going to lose with... lower property taxes. She doesn't get into any detail. No. Because she doesn't understand them, number one. And number two, she doesn't want to say the words, well, I'm going to have to raise taxes somewhere else.
