Yeah, you hear that in the top of the hour news break, that today is the big day, at least up at the National Cathedral, they'll be having the ceremony for Lindsey Graham there. Christopher Thompson, good morning to you, sir. Morning, Kelly. I imagine it'll be an emotional day for a lot of South Carolinians. The president is expected to speak down there, and they're going to have some sort of video tribute to Lindsey Graham. It's going to be a very emotional day. No doubt about it. Sean Hannity also speaking. I didn't hear that. Yeah. Yeah. Sean Hannity got the call. Yeah. So I'm wondering if that will be a part of Sean's show this afternoon. Probably. I would have to imagine so. You would think so. If the ceremony goes off at 2 o'clock at the National Cathedral, I don't know how long it's going to roll, but Sean Hannity goes live, if I'm not mistaken, 3 to 6. And then on Fox News on TV that night. So, yeah, I'm sure between the two, we'll get a healthy dose of his tribute to Lindsey Graham. So, yeah, so if you're not able to, I'm assuming Fox will carry a lot of this live today at 2 o'clock, I would assume. Maybe not go, you know, wall-to-wall coverage, but there'll be a bunch of cut-ins, I'm assuming, from the National Cathedral. But then tomorrow he comes to Columbia. And I was seeing some of the security measures that they're putting in place downtown getting ready for that as they're expecting some rather large crowds to, you're not going to be able to get into the church, but you'll be able to see the procession as it moves. Kelly, I got a call from someone, a member of that church, by the way, last week who said they're repairing a sinkhole in front of the church.

2:52

And apparently there are some ways around that. I guess the best way is to park in that parking garage that's adjacent to First Baptist Church and go in that way. But yeah, there may be some hurdles, additional hurdles, if you're getting into the church just to walk in the front door. Wow, I had not heard about that. So, well, thank you for that update, Christopher Thompson. Very valuable. That is the news you can use if you plan on trying to attend the service tomorrow here in Columbia for Lindsey Graham. And then it's going to be a busy day because if I'm remembering right and you might have it in front of you, that's going to start, I think, around 1045-ish or something is what I read. And then they're going to have a afternoon service they described it as up in Pickens County. And that's... basically for family and friends only. Right. But that, I mean, that's just to go from Columbia to Pickens County. That's a couple of hours. And, you know, you got all this going on in the interim. So there's going to be some exhausted members of the Graham team and family tomorrow. Today is not going to be easy on them either. So. And by the way, they're in the middle of a campaign. And I was going to just pivot to that. Darlene Graham is asking for grace and a little more time to discuss the issues of what's coming up in this campaign. And again, early voting starts like next week, right? That's right. Next Wednesday. So we don't have a lot of time, unfortunately, and there's a big fast turnaround going on. Now, yesterday I spoke with Mark Sanford. We're going to play parts of that coming up a little bit. Also, we're getting ready for, what are they calling it again? The Senate Stumps. Yes. And our first one will be in Columbia, this, well, actually in Lexington. This. weekend, Saturday. And then I think August 6th is the next one. That's in Charleston. So we'll be talking a little bit more about that. But there's a lot to get to this morning. And if you've got, you've got thoughts or you want to get on the air, whatever, we'd love for you to use the talkback feature. Maybe some stuff that we haven't gotten to in the past couple of days that you think, hey. You guys need to be talking about this. Let us know if we're missing something. Use the talkback feature on the iHeart radio app. Just a reminder. We're still off the air, I'm assuming, until further notice on the AM. The cleanup continues. The restoration continues where the fires were at the WVOC AM transmitter. This is in Columbia. Yes. The FM signal still works. The IHeart Radio app still works, but we are... working hard to get that AM transmitter back up and operating. So if you hear somebody saying that we're off the air, it's just on the AM signal. And just in Columbia. Just in Columbia. We're still rocking strong down on FM, 94.3 WSC Charleston and FM 103.5 FM in Columbia, WVOC. This is South Carolina's morning news. This is South Carolina's morning news with Kelly Nash.

5:40

And good morning, 612, yesterday spoke with our Attorney General, Alan Wilson, who is going to be hosting these Senate stumps, is what they're calling them, and started with the question, why are you hosting these Senate forums? I am trying to do everything that I can to provide venues and forums for the voters to be able to learn about all of these new candidates for the U.S. Senate so they can make an informed decision on one of those two election days. because I'm going to need a strong partner to run with in November. This is South Carolina's morning news, so we air in Columbia, and we air in Charleston. We've got two area locations for the listeners, and we got one this Saturday for people in the Columbia area. That's right. Saturday, August the 1st, that's this coming Saturday. We'll be in Lexington County at Riverbuff High School at 1130 a.m. We have a handful of these candidates already confirmed. We're still waiting on confirmations from some of the others. But I will be hosting a form where you will be able to get to hear from some of these candidates and what their plans are if they're elected to the U.S. Senate. And the second date will be August the 6th. It'll be down in Charleston at the Rifle Club, and that is from 6 to 730 at the Rifle Club in Charleston on August the 6th. And I see on the Facebook page from the South Carolina GOP that they're asking people, RSVP, by emailing team at SCGOP. So again, RSVP by emailing team at SCGOP.com. I don't know how this even started with you, but years ago, you started this thing where you were basically having one-on-one conversations with presidential candidates when they were running in the primaries in South Carolina. And you did a fantastic job with that. This is going to be a little bit different, though, because it's not one-on-one. It's like controlled chaos. These will not be debates. I'm not going to have everyone up there on stage. There will be sanctioned debates for the U.S. Senate. These are going to be basically opportunities for me to ask questions on behalf of the crowd, and obviously we will take questions from the crowd. Is this like a Phil Donahue thing where you're going to be reaching out with the microphone? We will probably take questions that I will ask. I will be the one facilitating the questions. We won't be having to Phil Donahue or the Herado Rivera. show where you get into a shouting match or someone gets up there and filibuster is a question because we want to move we have each of these candidates for such a short period of time and you know in the past there are people that get up there and they talk for five minutes and somewhere buried in there is a question we need to be able to give people the questions quickly and give as much time as possible to the candidates and so my intent will be to have a conversation that will allow you to hear from the candidate for the senate more than the person asking the question. The first one, again, is this Saturday. Like you said, Alan, this thing is moving very quickly. So Saturday morning at 1130, you're going to get a bunch of candidates at the River Bluff High School. And again, you should respond by sending an RSVP to team at SCGOP.com. And then you're going to have another one in Charleston. When is that again? That is August the 6th from 6 to 730 at the Rifle Club. What's going on, everyone? It's Bluff here, and we're driving through the States in the BluffMobile, and the best thing that we can do is play our favorite casino-style games on SpinQuest. They have over a thousand games, including Live Dealer Blackjack and Crops, with tons of slots and unlimited options. You can get a $30 coin pack for just $10 for new users. Sign up today. You know what your customers are doing right this second? The exact same thing you are, listening to me, which, let's be honest, is kind of flattering. But my point is, ads on IHeart Radio actually get heard. In the car, at the gym, on the couch, while people are walking their dogs. Who's a good boy? Who's a good boy? You're a good boy, that's right, you're a good boy. So why not make the next ad about you? Get started today. Call 844-844-Ehart or go to iHeartadvertising.com. That's 844-844-Ehart or iHeartadvertising.com. All right. And again, if you want to go to the one in Charleston, you want to email Team, T-E-A-M at S-C-G-O-P.com. So hopefully you get an opportunity to see some of these people up close and personal. And, you know, at this point, they don't even know exactly who's coming to these events, but... It's Christopher Thompson. It is a very tight window. And Kelly, there's still a filing. You can file right up until what today, I believe, yeah. Is it 5 o'clock? No noon. Noon today. So we're on the clock. We have less than six hours. And then we will finally know for sure who's in. Nobody filed yesterday as far as I know. I don't think so. But I wouldn't expect anyone else to file. I would think the field is pretty crowded as it is. I saw Mark Sanford. filed, I think, yesterday. Yes. And when he was filing, you know, there's video. There's, the local media is waiting for these people to come off the elevators and then they walk into the office. And one of the fellas who got off the elevator with him is, what is it, from the Post and Courier, Nick Reynolds. And so some of the local reporters were having fun with that. And Nick pointed out that he had gotten there late and ended up just inadvertently. in the elevator holding the door for Mark Sanford to get in. He was like, you know, hey, what am I going to do? Shut the door in his face? Of course not. So get the scoop on the ride down or ride up. Maybe so. Maybe good for you, Nick. Anyway, we'll have more on that. And of course. I did have a conversation with Mark Sanford yesterday. We'll play that a little bit later on in the broadcast. But anything you want to say about any of the stories we're talking about, you can use the talkback feature on the IHurt radio app. Thanks for starting your morning with South Carolina's morning news. You're listening to South Carolina's morning news with Kelly Nash. Wow, it is getting very ugly on the Democrat side of things. If you look at the... Wow. I can't believe they got him saying this because he's literally paraphrasing Lenin. I'm talking about the Abdul El-Sayed, who's the Michigan frontrunner right now for the Democrat ticket to be the next senator from the state of Michigan. Talking about John Fetterman on a conference call, he said, quote,

12:10

um i have no problem getting people to primary losers like John Fetterman no problem at all ideally you just need to put one ogre on a pike and everyone else will get the message all of a sudden everyone will start sounding a lot different in this party That's what, uh, wow. Yeah, exactly. Put one ogre on a pike. Now, last night over on CNN, Abby Phillips was having a discussion, this almost the exact same discussion about how the DSA is becoming a problem. 99 days from the midterms, Democrats are facing a reckoning, disavow and disown the Democratic Socialists of America, or embrace policy positions like these endorsed by the DSA's co-chair. Abolish the Senate. True. Okay, replace the presidency and Supreme Court as we now know them. Yep. Abolish borders and give amnesty to anyone currently in the U.S. illegally. As a long-term plan, yep. Defund the Pentagon. Absolutely. Abolish prisons, at least in large part. Yeah, again, as part of a long-term program, yeah. Okay, so no prisons. Government or public ownership of most large corporations. Yeah, absolutely. You know, it was really interesting is that, you know, this is a person that has their own views, their own platform, and, you know, I think everybody has their own positions. But I find it really interesting that conservatives actually want to try to go and talk about this when they literally had Project 2025. Oh, in the last election, Project 2025, which was uniquely calling for the gutting of the Civil Rights Act, the Voting Rights Act, and many different things. What I know is that the Democratic Party is a big... party. We've got folks like Joe Manchin, folks like Zohran Mamdani. You would have to acknowledge Democrats ran against Republicans on Project 2025. You're acknowledging it's going to be a problem. Yeah, I mean, look, I don't support those things. But the point is, is that we need to talk about the things that people in elected office are doing. All right. That guy, by the way, I don't even know who he is. Isaiah Martin died up. Who is that, dude? I don't support those things, but we need to talk about them. Yeah, we're a big tent party. By the way, when he said to the Project 2025 called for the gutting of the Voting Rights Act, that's demonstrably false. But, you know, if it had, Republicans would be against it. You know, I'm trying to think of somebody hijacking a party. And then... you not disavowing them and saying that we're a Big Ten Party. For example, when I was doing my podcast this morning, I was thinking, Christopher, you know, what if there was a wing of the Republican Party that started calling themselves the originalists? We want the party to be like the country was in 1776, meaning only white men can vote, only white men property owners can vote, no women allowed to vote. Blacks, obviously, back in enslavement. If there was somebody calling for some sort of movement like that inside the Republican Party, I am very confident that we would say, get the hell out of here. I would hope so. When you hear what the Democrat Socialists, she just, and again, she's not some lady with a platform. She's not a podcaster. She is the co-chair of the Democrat Socialists of America. She, when you say I am a DSA member, like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez says,

15:22

That's what she believes. When you hear what Abdul El-Sayed said, this is what they believe. The ending of the borders of the United States of America. Of course, anyone living here illegally would now be, you can't kick them out. There's nothing to kick them out of. There's no more borders. You want to quote unquote defund the Pentagon. You have no more military. So I guess we're just expecting the largesse of China and Russia and everybody to be very kind to us moving forward. Sure. You would think that even a Democrat would say, well, I want to fight for the Ukraine. I want the military to do that. But not according to the Democrat Socialists. When you hear them say, we want to get rid of prisons. Yeah. I mean, this is not just the fundamental changing of America. This is the erasure of America. That's what the DSA is calling for. And if you're a Democrat and you're not beyond outraged and saying they're hijacking our party, we've got to kick him out. We can't even let them in our primaries. That's what you should be saying. But instead this guy says, no, no, we're the big tent part. And he pointed out, we have people like Joe Manchin and Zohran Mamdani, Zohran Mamdani. But you don't have Joe Manchin anymore. Joe Manchin said he's out. Yeah. And they're enamored with these high profile, I mean, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, for example. She's winning right now. She's gaining in popularity. So they think, all right, well, let's pin our hopes on her. Let's pin our hopes on all these leftists, far leftists, socialists. And that's where it's taking the party. I watched that interview with Shannon Bream, that DSA co-chair. I mean, Shannon Breen gave her every opportunity to explain her way out of this. And she just kept going. Oh, yeah, abolished prisons. Well, yeah, murderers might be on the street, but. we probably won't have as many murders because everyone will be in a better position financially. It's like a... A hardcore libertarian. I lean libertarian. I am not a full-fledged libertarian in the sense that like you'll see interviews with hardcore libertarians and they'll say something like all drugs legal all the time to all ages. What? You know, heroin for eight-year-olds? Sure, why not? Who are we to say that they can't do it? Well, we're society. That's who we are. Right. You know, prostitution running a muck in the streets? Absolutely. Let anybody do what anybody wants all the time. That's a hardcore libertarian, and thankfully Republicans distance themselves from that kind of insanity. The Democrats, you're being hijacked right now. And you're losing that battle because as a political outsider, that's always been where the heat is. That's always where the momentum is going to go with the political outsider. They need to do a better job of stepping up and distancing themselves. This big tent party, that's just the line of crap. And anybody who's a Democrat not disavowing the DSA, then I guess your silence.

18:08

is violence towards our Constitution. That's what I'm saying to Democrats who are not speaking out against the DSA. Your silence is violence towards the Constitution. That's what I'm thinking? What are you thinking? Use the talkback feature at South Carolina's Morning News. This is South Carolina's morning news on 103.5 FM, 560 a.m. WVOC and 943 WSC. Visit iHeartadvertising.com. Again, that's iHeartadvertising.com. Now, Kelly Nash. All right, the news is starting to try to report a little bit about Anthony Fauci. CBS News last night. Newly released diary entries by Dr. Anthony Fauci are shedding light on his soaring notoriety during the COVID epidemic. The documents released by Republican Senator Rand Paul include Anthony Fauci's reflections about being invited to A-list parties, calls with Barbara Streisand, but also some uncertainty about the origin of COVID, whether it started in a wet market in China or leaked from a Wuhan lab. That's all they gave you. And that's all they gave you. What I think you're going to see the media do in a further attempt to cover up for Anthony Fauci is focus on the fact that there are a lot of diary entries. And by the way, you can see all of Anthony Fauci's diaries thanks to the hard work of Senator Rand Paul, who was able to force them to turn this over. And he's published it all at Paul.com slash reading room. There's over a thousand pages. Many of which, I think it's over 500 pages are from Anthony Fauci's personal diaries. They're going to focus on the fact that Anthony Fauci is obviously obsessed. overwhelmingly just enthralled with celebrity status. Oh, no doubt. I mean, that's all he talked about is I was on CNN today. I was with Jake Tapper last night. Yes. But I think the point that most Americans should be concerned about that they're not really talking about is his open lying. Yeah.

21:10

If you go back to his diary entries from January of 2020. Now remember, in January of 2020, most Americans hadn't even heard of the coronavirus, as they started calling it sometime in February. On a post in, I think it's January 12th. No, I'm sorry. January 26, he's talking about meeting with 12 scientists. And in that meeting, 10 of the 12 scientists told him it had to be manmade. It's impossible to come from a wet market. So he knew. On January 26th, 2020, this thing was created in the Wuhan lab. He knew that. And yet he continued to lie and lie and lie because for whatever reason, he didn't want to make the Wuhan lab look bad. Now, I guess at this point, we could speculate it's because Anthony Fauci was involved with that. We can also speculate that because when you look at like what Rand Paul points out, Anthony Fauci's side hustle. He received millions in prize money from American institutions, but the largest single cash award to Anthony Fauci came from a foreign institution that wired directly into his account. Anthony Fauci, Mr. Public Servant, I'm here for the good of everybody. That's all I care about is making sure that everybody lives long and healthy lives. He got $900,000 from China. Why? Why did Anthony Fauci get a $900,000 wire transfer? Was it to shut his mouth? Was it because he was actually involved in this? That's what it would seem. He hasn't said otherwise. All he's been saying is it's a conspiracy theory. But now we know it's not a conspiracy theory. When he went on and told Newt Gingrich and other people that it was a conspiracy theory that the thing was coming out of a lab and not from a wet market, that has already been debunked. By whom? Not your scientists. Ten of the 12 told you it's impossible for this thing to have come from a wet market. And you knew that. And you chose to believe the two who said, nah, I think it's possible. And then tell the other 10 that they're the conspiracy theorists. And then he's sending emails saying, read this, then destroy it. He's sending emails, he, a government official, to another government official saying, read this, then destroy it. And then in 2022, he's talking about how I. I never told anybody to shut anything down. Well, in your emails you did, in your emails to whether you're talking about Gavin Newsom in California, you're talking about Andrew Cuomo up in New York, you're talking about the mayor of New York City. You were sending emails saying, based on my upcoming television appearance, I'm going to say it tonight, you should get out in front of it, do the right thing, shut the schools, shut the bars, shut the churches, the synagogues, nobody goes anywhere. And then he brags about it later on. Oh, and the people they were thanking me because I was saving lives. You were killing people. People died in isolation. People, I know people. I know senior citizens who could not see their children, their adult children. They were not allowed to have contact with their adult children because of your stupid orders. And they died alone.

24:28

And I hope America never forgets what Anthony Fauci did to this country. He talked about his legacy in this diary. Your legacy is going to be a disaster. I'm not saying it's going to be Anthony Fauci is like synonymous with Hitler, but I am going to say that I wouldn't want the last name Anthony Fauci for the next 50 years. That's a bad last name to have right about now. Anthony Fauci is a liar who destroyed... large swaths of America, the damage that you did to the scholastic system, the kids that were stuck at home, the people who wore masks and the psychological damage that was done to them, and you're mocking them. You're literally mocking them and your emails to your friends about their wearing the masks. We saw that on display when you went to the Washington Nationals game and you wore the mask to throw out the first pitch. Then you go and sit in the crowd with your two friends and you take off the mask to chit-chat, proving once again that you knew masks did nothing. But now we know that you also put that in your notes. Thank you to Rand Paul for getting this out to the public. But I am furious about this. I knew it. Now that I'm seeing it, I'm even angrier. I don't know why. But I knew it all along. Anthony Fauci is a big liar who did nothing but destroy America for several years. And then... Who is it that he was excited about? Not Barbara Streisand. I know that one excited him, but I think it was Julia John Roberts. Julia John Roberts called me your hero. Can you believe that I am Julia John Roberts hero? Oh my gosh, shut up. All right. If you want to read more of the Anthony Fauci things, you can go to Paul.senate.gov slash reading room. We'll get the day back on the good foot. We're going to get happy again. Coming up, this is South Carolina's morning news. This is South Carolina's morning news on 103.5 FM and 560 a.m. WVOC, Columbia and 943 WSC, Charleston. Now. Kelly Nash. You know, everybody's talking about AI. Everybody's talking about robots. Everybody's talking about what will the future hold? And Sean Hannity is going to be talking about that as well in just a second with the morning minute because, you know, this Christopher is a crazy time in the world, isn't it? It is, no doubt. I mean, we're seeing AI jump forward in leaps and bounds. And at the forefront of that is the man who warned us against this. It would be Elon Musk. But now he's making money from it. Well, you know, he said it. How did he say it? Something about, you know, you can only hope against it long enough. At some point, you have to have to recognize that that door is going to be opened. And are we going to be a part of it and try to use it for good? Are we just going to allow it to go off the rail? So he's trying to control AI as best he can. But I'm not. You know, that story last week, it was we were talking about what happened with ChatGPT, getting out of the digital sandbox and launching attacks on competing AI companies. That was bizarre. We've also had the stories where the people went and...

27:27

Unfortunately, there are things with AI that are not so nice either. From the Midlands to the low country, this is South Carolina's morning news on 103.5 FM and 560 AM WVOC and 943WSC. Now, here's Kelly Nash. And waiting in the wings to join us, the former governor of the great state of South Carolina, and I believe the last man to enter into our current Senate race. Mark Sanford. We're going to play our interview with Mark Sanford coming up after the top of the hour news. So stand by for that. And, you know, maybe I'm going to delve into this Teddy Roosevelt proposal from years ago. Maybe it's time to bring back some more Teddy. Wow. The Teddy Roosevelt Doctrines. We'll look at that and more. This is South Carolina's morning news. Live from the state capital, this is South Carolina's morning news with Kelly Nash. And good morning. It's about three after seven o'clock. Hope you're getting a great start to your day. Yesterday got a phone call from the former governor of South Carolina. new brand new candidate to run for the senate seat um as we talked about the passing of Lindsey Graham and all the ceremonies happening today uh mark sanford i started recording uh right after i said something about you know i hope you're doing great or whatever and he said not as good as you what i'm hanging in there how about that Come on, man. Only one of us has a chance of being the next senator from South Carolina. Well, only one of us has a well-acclaimed, you know, radio show and podcast thing going. So, you know, we get all levels out. You were a little bit later than some of the other candidates getting in. Was there a reason why you waited just a couple of days longer? Well, there's a little bit of fear and trepidation that goes with this. Really? You talk about a daunting task in terms of trying to... begin to build a team and get organized. Had you, in your mind, kind of decided that you were going to be done with politics until this opening appeared? Totally. You know, if you'd asked me two weeks ago, was this even a remote possibility? I would have sort of laughed, and you would laugh too. But this whole thing has come up out of the left field, but we are where we are, and I believe so strongly in... My fear is on the financial trajectory of our federal government, but I've gotten into this thing. Yeah, we're talking with Mark Sanford. You have always been a legendary fiscal hawk. There has been nobody sounding the alarm louder than you when it comes to the national debt. And when you go to your page, marksanford.com, you give the record of results, and you've got an impressive history on cutting spending. At the same time, when you look at your issues page, there's more issues than just the national debt and the deficit and all this sort of stuff, which again is crushing. And when you look at markshanford.com, you'll see.

30:31

how it factors into defense, health care, social security, immigration, so on and so forth. When I look at the Heritage Foundation and their rankings, one of the things that a lot of South Carolinians had pointed out was that Lindsey Graham usually came in with a moderate score. He wasn't considered very conservative. I think his lifetime average was like in the 60s or something. He got like a 76 for the last session. What about you as a senator? would be maybe the same as Lindsey Graham and or different than Lindsey Graham. Well, I mean, he certainly got, you know, big shoes to fill in terms of representing the state. I mean, you know, if you look back since 1954, there have been two senators and Strom in his way and Lindsay in his way, I think certainly did there. What's up, everybody? I'm not unaware of the responsibilities that go with representing a certain part of... the country, and again, I think I've demonstrated that in work in governorship and work in Congress. But the reason I'm talking about the debt is all this other sort of fades away if you don't get that part right. I would feed the point that the responsibility to go with the office. I'm not in any way unaware of those. Yes, I think I would be a good steward in the office. but I would as well be an incredibly mighty advocate on behalf of people's pocketbooks and wallets that have been forgotten about in Washington, D.C. All right. There's a part of the interview with Mark Sanford from yesterday. It went about maybe close to 15 minutes. You can get all of it on my podcast, the National Briefing. I put that up on my Facebook page, Christopher, and I'll tell you typically I don't get a whole lot of traction on Facebook. Just honestly. I mean, I get a couple of comments here, a couple of likes, couple of your, I think I probably get more people telling me I'm a blowhard than anything on Facebook. But the interview with Mark Sanford, I just looked at it right now, has 196 comments. Wow, already. Yeah. And it just went up yesterday. Yeah. People are.

33:45

passionate on both sides of him. Some people cannot stand this guy. They talk about him. He's a traitor to the state. He abandoned his post. He's a loser. He did this, that, and the other people are like, best thing that could ever happen to us. Fiscal conservatives are going to save the democracy, all this sort of the stuff. So, I mean, I can't remember a guy who is more of a lightning rod than Mark Sanford. And that bodes well for his candidacy because there are a lot of candidates. I mean, this is a crowded field, and you've already got a lot of candidates that people either don't know about or they're lukewarm toward. You know, at least Sanford is drawing some fire, whether it's good or bad. I think I haven't heard any negatives about Ralph Norman other than his age. But I think he's got a very passionate base as well. Oh, no doubt. Russell Fry seems to be picking up even more steam as we talk. And again, the alleged frontrunner, what do we have five hours left for Trey Gowdy to file? If he's going to file, you've got to do it before. That was one poll, Kelly. And I don't think he's going to be a late entry. Well, we'll be watching. Yeah. Christopher Thompson will be on it. If it happens, breaking news, Christopher Thompson will be first reported. We'll keep eye on it. Yeah, until noon till day is when you have to file if you want to be in this Senate campaign. And again, we'll have a quick turnaround on that as early voting starts next week in South Carolina to decide who the next senator is. All right. More to come. You know, I am going to talk about the Teddy Roosevelt. not even a proposal, the actual policy that was implemented back in the early 1900s here in America and then why we changed it and all that sort of stuff. It's kind of fascinating as to what it's led to. We'll get into that and more as we take a roll through the morning on South Carolina's morning news. This is South Carolina's morning news with Kelly Nash. All right. So the chant on a lot of not just U.S. campuses, but a lot of just Western cultural, you know, population centers, whether you're talking about London, Munich, wherever, the last couple of years had been globalized the Intifada. And a lot of people on talk radio stations like this had been warning that that's a very dangerous slogan because the Intifada is actually calling for war against Christians. And they want to globalize it. And well, yesterday we kind of saw the fruition of that is starting to come home to roost as Friday you had a... Allah ala Akbar chant going on as you got a guy stabbing two people, one in the back with a knife, which he left in the back. And then they saw a Jewish guy leaving a synagogue and stabbed him with a screwdriver on the Upper West 57th Street.

36:32

or Upper West Side, I should say. Then the next day in Germany, you had a guy who had already been arrested for hate crimes against Jews, and this is bizarre, that in Germany, the prosecutors were upset that he had only gotten a year sentence. So they were appealing to the judge to increase the length of his sentence. Apparently under German law, when you appeal a sentence, They let you go. Wow. And so that guy, while out waiting to find out what his final sentence would be, rented a van, used it to run over a bunch of people at a gay pride parade, then got out with a machete and started hacking away. He ended up being shot dead at his apartment a little bit later on. And then yesterday morning in, I think it was Paris. You had another Allah-Aqbar chant going as the guy went and stabbed three women, including a pregnant woman, on the streets of Paris. So they are globalizing the Intifada. Years ago, Teddy Roosevelt had a change to immigration policy in 1907. We've already outlawed polygamy in this country. What he said and what became the law beginning in 1907 was if you subscribe to the belief in polygamy, you cannot become a U.S. citizen. And that was the way it was interpreted from 1907 until 1952. And in 1952, Congress changed it and said, you just can't say it's the belief in polygamy. That was specifically targeted at Muslims because the Koran says that the men can have up to four wives. That was his way of saying that the Muslim faith is a dangerous faith to Western culture. He talked about it in his book from 1916, Fear God and Take Your Own Part. So Teddy Roosevelt, back in the early 1900s, was concerned. that radical Islam was going to take over Western culture if we weren't careful. Well, 1952, we changed the law to say you actually have to be practicing polygamy, not just believing in it. And, well, now here we are in the year 2026, and the Intifada is coming to our country. I don't know if it's too late to go back and change the law back to the 1907 to 1952 era. It's tough to figure out ways to stop this radical Islam that is now sweeping, not just America, but the Western culture in general. Roosevelt had a lot of beliefs about immigration and about how you should come into this country ready to assimilate, that you don't carry your old ways into the new country. You come to America, you speak English, you, there are no such things as this. hyphen American or that hyphen American, you come to America, you are an American and you're expected to, you know, engage in in these beliefs rather than bring your old country's ways with you. And, you know, to that point, my grandfather is from Italy. He did not like the Italian American club. I played baseball.

39:39

I played for the Lions Club, by the way. We were very good. The Lions Club won the town championship one year in East Hartford. But one of the teams that we used to play against was the IAC, the Italian-American Club. He didn't like that. He did not like that the Italians were signaling themselves out as we are a people group. He was like, you're Americans. And, you know, his parents wouldn't let him speak Italian in the house. They said, you're going to be an American. You're not an Italian child. You're an American child. And you want to assimilate into America. I love the speech that Gene Simmons, oh, it wasn't a speech, but Gene Simmons was talking to Dan Rather one day, talking about why he changed his name to Gene. He said, because my name is Jewish. It sounds like you're coughing up, you know, fur balls trying to say my name. And I wanted to make my name as easy as possible for Americans to say because I could not believe how gracious they were in allowing me to have all the privileges of the native-born Americans because we would swear an allegiance to their country. They were going to let me. So why wouldn't I just change my name to make it easy for the Americans? So I became Gene. And I appreciate Gene Simmons patriotism. I believe that he's a great American patriot. And we are a very welcoming country. If you want to fit in, if you want to disrupt what we have going on here, I don't have any tolerance for that. Christopher, I don't think you do either. Yeah, I mean, I'm not saying you can't bring some of your heritage with you. I mean, you know, cooking and other customs, but you assimilate into what Americans think and believe. That's part of the role of when you come in. to our country when we welcome you in, when you take the oath of citizenship, that's what you're doing. You are taking on the role of an American citizen. Yeah. Teddy Roosevelt had some clever ideas on how to try to stop it. Unfortunately, Congress changed it in 1952. If you have thoughts on that, or maybe the interview we do with Mark Sanford, use the talkback feature and let us know on South Carolina's Morning News. You're listening to South Carolina's Morning News with Kelly Nash. And as I look around some of the local media in Charleston and Columbia, one of the... I'll say above the fold. That's the phrase they used to use when you used to get a newspaper. You know, you have the fold. And if you had your story above the fold, that meant it was big, big news. We don't have folds anymore, but we do have, you know, headlines that are kind of more prominent than others. I've noticed several television stations in Charleston and Columbia. The headline, the number one story, Jermaine Johnson, to hold special lieutenant governor announcement this week. He's been teasing that for over a week now. So, all right, the announcement's finally coming. I, yes, I can't believe that this is that big of a news. He's going to have a press conference, what is it, Thursday at the State House, 11 o'clock in the morning. How many people are going to be tuned in to find out who got the nod to come in as the first runner-ups in the governor's race? Well, I mean, it is news in a sense that, you know, we're all wondering, all right, who will be his partner going up against the Republican duo? So it is news in a sense. Do you think... And this is just Christopher Thompson, well-educated, well-informed person on the political scene, speculating. And I don't even know if I can get them to speculate. I'll try. Okay. Do you think that there are people in the Democrat Party who were offered this position and said, nah, I'm good? Maybe. Yeah, I mean, it wouldn't surprise me. It doesn't do much for your political future if you're on that losing ticket. Yeah. I don't know. And, you know, a lot of speculation has revolved around former Republican state senator Katrina Sheely. I don't know if she's seriously being considered or not, but there's certainly been a fair share of speculation on social media about it. I, boy, would that help the Democrats if Katrina Shealy popped up on their ticket? I think it probably hurts her more than it helps him. I mean, it's, you know, for all the talk about her thoughts about abortion, and, you know, she was, she was not necessarily pro-choice, but she was very much in favor of a woman being in charge of.

45:15

the choices that women make about their bodies. I just think this would take her in the opposite direction because she had some conservative bent to her otherwise. And, you know, if she gets on the Democrat ticket, it just, you know, you can talk about a balanced ticket, okay. But I think people would just immediately say, okay, that's, that's her true calling. She was a Democrat all along. You know, I'm just looking at Henry McMaster and his runs for either lieutenant governor or governor. And I guess basically the governor's position would be the one that's most applicable, although he did beat Bakari Sellers. And that's back when we used to elect lieutenant governors independently. Yeah. So Henry McMaster versus Bakari Sellers, that was a he 58 to 42 type of thing. Henry McMaster versus James E. Smith. That was his closest one as far as at the governor's level, Smith got 46% Henry McMaster 53. So again, handily won, won by almost 200,000 votes. Henry McMaster versus Joe Cunningham, who I thought was going to do better because Joe Cunningham, a pretty attractive candidate as far as how he speaks and presents themselves and blah, blah, blah, got his tush handed to him, 58 to 41. There was 1% for some guy named Bruce Reeves in that election. That's why it wasn't 5842. But, yeah, again, I think in this state, I've seen a lot of polling coming out for, what's her face, Annie Andrews. And she's polling and they have her beating everybody on the Republican side. And she's maxed out at about 45%. And that's what I'm saying to everybody. I believe the polls in the sense that that's as much as a Democrat's going to get in this state is about 45, maybe 46%. You're never going to get over 50. In other words, to quote, what's his name? Or even you can quote, what's her name, Rocky's wife? Why am I drawing a blank on... Adrian? Yeah, yo, Adrian. You can't win Rock. You can't win Democrats. So it'll be interesting to see who signs up to be the first loser in the governor's race along with what's his face here from Richland County. Jermaine Johnson. Jermaine Johnson. Thank you for correcting me. That'll be happening Thursday at 11. I'm sure we'll give you an update here on South Carolina's morning news. Your news, traffic, weather, and information stations. This is South Carolina's morning news on 103.5 FM, 560 a.m. WV.O. and 94-3 WSC. Now, Kelly Nash. And I am so thankful that Christopher Thompson is here because he is the calm, cool, collected, and someone with the insights as to what's actually happening. I tend to fly off the handle. So I'm going to fly off the handle. And you tell me, Christopher, if I'm completely out of line or where I'm out of line. All right. I might agree with you. My understanding. is that the president came to a settlement with the IRS after the IRS did not protect his returns and leaked them to the press. And that settlement was a $1.8 billion anti-weaponization fund that the president was going to use to basically...

48:32

make whole people who had been, in his opinion and a panel that he was going to put together, their opinion that people had been injured by lawfare under the Biden administration and the Obama administration, basically. And that this $1.8 billion had to be spent during his presidency. If it was not spent, whatever was left over at the end of his presidency would then be returned to the Treasury. But that is a settlement between the president. and the IRS. Is that your understanding of it? That is my understanding, yes. And there was a huge pushback on the idea about this anti-weaponization fund. And so then that was... Well, I think the pushback specifically was about it being used to defend those who had been a part of the January uprising. Yeah, but again, it's the, that is where the pushback came. Yes. But it is the agreement between the IRS and the president. So when they block the $1.8 billion anti-weaponization fund, all the president has now received is a written apology from the IRS for leaking his information. I see today that, yes, last night, John Cornyn told reporters that unless Todd Blanche signs a document saying that they will never bring up this anti-weaponization fund again, he will block Todd Blanche's nomination and it won't get out of committee. And so he want, and he's not specific, although he's alluding to he might want the president's signature on that as well, but I think he might think that if Todd Blanche signs it, that'll be enough. What do you suggest happens for the president who, again, by all accounts, the IRS acknowledges they were wrong, the justices admit that they were wrong, the president says I was injured by this. Everybody agrees. What does he get then? Could he take the $1.8 billion and then just hand it out to whomever he feels like giving it to? I mean, I don't think the settlement was originally written that way, but I'm not sure how John Cornyn can challenge it anyway. Well, he's just saying, I'm just telling you I'm not going to sign it. He's not going to get out of committee. We're going to kill Todd Blanche's career. Donald Trump, you're screwed. I don't care. I'm not running for office. I already lost. So I'm just going to be. this guy who doesn't allow you any of the settlement. And in the meantime, the Todd Blanche appointment gets hung up and nomination gets hung up and everything else and the Senate gets hung up. God, this guy's infuriating. There are so many guys like this in the Senate. You know, it's like, you know, I was talking about this yesterday. Typically, we look at the tradition of voting in America and we see that if a party has the presidency, the House, and the Senate, The last 100 years, it's almost 100% of the time that in the midterms, whoever has all of that loses the House and the Senate. That's almost 100% of the time. Because whether it's consciously or unconsciously, Americans vote in a way to kind of give stalemate to the way government operates. In this instance, we might win. The Republicans might win because we're stalemating ourselves.

51:45

We are the Democrats at this point. It's unbelievable how we have zero ability to even pass the Save America Act where eight out of ten people want it. John Cornyn is frustrating. That's the word of the day. Frustrating. But again, for those of you who don't want him to have the $1.8 billion, I would, I mean, to give out to basically people who he found to be offended by the, or not offended, injured by the lawfare. What is your remedy then? That's all he wanted was a personal apology and to help other people. Now, does he just take the one point? If he was a greedy person, like they say, he'd take that $1.8 billion, put it in his pocket and go on vacation or something. Yeah, but the bunny didn't specifically go to him or his sons who also had their. their tax information put out there. It went to this fund, which was going to be doled out by a five-member commission appointed by Todd Blanche. Yes. And now we can't even get that far. That's what I'm saying. So right now, Donald Trump got nothing. Right. Even though he, according to the IRS, we screwed Trump. And they're not going to. Okay, maybe you guys have thoughts on that. You can use the talkback feature on the IHeart radio app. It is South Carolina's morning news. This is South Carolina's morning news on 103.5 FM and 560 AM WVOC, Columbia, and 943 WSC Charleston. Now, Kelly Nash. And yesterday we were responding to the president's Friday night address at the... White House Correspondence Association dinner, and Christopher and I both kind of not very impressed with the comedic timing. Although I did appreciate the Bari Weiss joke. I thought that was funny. I thought the Robert F. Kennedy Jr. joke was pretty funny. The one where it got everybody talking is the Caitlin Susan Collins joke. And Caitlin Susan Collins last night went on to the Daily Show with John Stewart to talk about it and said, When he's insulting me, he's criticizing me. I think these and those moments, it's important to remember what put me back into this work and the non-answeres that we get and the answers that we get. But I want to just focus on he's insulting me. Is he insulting her by comparing Caitlin Susan Collins to Dylan Mulvaney? That was the joke that they're the same. They look the same. How could that possibly be an insult when all I've been told is Dylan Mulvaney is a beautiful woman? That was your... That was your spin on things, Caitlin Susan Collins? Caitlin Susan Collins says she was insulted that she was compared to Dylan Mulvaney. Why? If you believe that Dylan Mulvaney is a beautiful woman, and I believe Trump even prefaced it by saying, Caitlin, you should smile more, you're a beautiful woman. And then compared you to Dylan Mulvaney, who the rest of us in Reelsville recognizes as a man pretending to be a woman. Dressed as a woman. Yeah.

54:45

But you acknowledge her as a woman. So where is the insult? I'm waiting for the trans community to come out against Caitlin Susan Collins today and say you shouldn't have been insulted. You should be glorified to be compared to such a gorgeous woman as Dylan Mulvaney. Christopher, you're crinsing over there. I'm making a face. Yeah, that's not translating to radio. But yeah, I don't. And if I'm Caitlin Susan Collins, that's not the direction I would have chosen to go in anyway. There's plenty of other options that she could have out there. But, you know, you've got to try to make some buzz while you can. So there's, that's her hot take. What are your hot takes? Let us know on the talkback feature off the iHeart radio app in South Carolina's morning news. This is South Carolina's morning news on 103.5 FM and 560 AM WVOC and 943 WSC. Now here's Kelly Nash. Donald Trump has a leaking problem. Somebody in his administration is leaking stuff about Iran, and he needs to clamp down on this. I mean, it's getting ridiculous as to the kind of information that is either accurate information or it's just designed to weaken military presence in the region. We're talking about, you know, certain generals are saying that we're running low on ammunition, those types of things. We've got, we've also got private, quote, private Iran leaks coming out of the Oval Office, according to the Wall Street Journal. They're talking about some of the things that he's saying behind closed doors. I don't know how hard is it for the Trump administration to figure out who's leaking these things? There's only so many people that can be in these rooms, I would think. They've got to figure this thing out because it's getting dangerous. For the United States military, it's getting dangerous. For us as a global leader, it's getting dangerous. And... Christopher, when we come back, I think we're going to talk about... And even more shocking leak. I mean, yes, the Iranian leaks are crazy as far as what's going on with our military. But the other things that they're leaking about him personally, to me, it's unbelievable. Unbelievable insights into the president have now been leaked into the public arena so much so that they're using them as videos to threaten members of his family. You've also got Fox News Radio's Jared Halpern, who was on that trip to Michigan with the president. He's coming up at 803 with you. Yeah. So, and again, big rally yesterday in Michigan. We'll see what Jared Halpern's interpretation of that was. How did he do? From what I could see, it looked pretty good. It's weird because he's at a rally. just before the Democrats have their primary. I mean, Mike Rogers is already the nominee for the Republicans, but we're trying to get more support for Mike. Let's go, Mike. We've got to win. We've got to beat whoever it is that's coming out of the Democrats, whether it's the socialist or the lady with the fake accent. If you haven't heard that video, we'll play a little bit of her as well. That's comical. She's like an SNL bit unto herself on South Carolina's morning news. Live from the State Capitol.

57:47

Visit iHeartadvertising.com. Again, that's iHeartadvertising.com. All right, and good morning. It's free after 8 o'clock. Good morning. This is Kelly Nash. I got Jared Halper on the phone. Good morning, sir. Good morning to you. This is our first conversation, so it's an honor to have you on South Carolina's morning news. Thank you for having me. Absolutely. Yesterday, you were in Michigan with the President of the United States. How did that trip go? Yeah, I mean, listen, he's going to do more of these trips, I think, is he gets closer and closer to midterm elections, obviously going to a place like Michigan. He is able to talk about tariffs kind of with a community where they are pretty popular, these auto workers, these automakers who have benefited from kind of forcing foreign carmakers to produce more of those vehicles. here in the U.S. And so he went to the General Motors Proving Grounds, which is in Milford, outside of Detroit, a really cool facility where they test all of the cars. They have all of these different types of terrain and tracks. And the president, along with the press, took in four drag races, corvettes going against up against each other, an electric Hummer. going against an escalate. I was impressed by how quickly both of those get up to top. Sure. So that was fun. And then the president, again, giving what was supposed to be kind of economic-driven remarks, obviously with the president, not always off-prompter. And so it was kind of wide-ranging, much more of a campaign-style speech, where, again, he talked about the economic benefits as he sees the tariff. and his economic policy talked about kind of the contrasting of Republicans against Democrats. But, you know, this is a place where if the message is going to resonate, it would have to resonate in a place like Michigan. You have an open Senate race. You have a number of close house races. It is a state, really, that is critical to...

1:00:57

which party is going to control Congress for the final two years of President Trump's term. And so I would anticipate the president probably will not be a stranger in the great state of Michigan between now and November. We're talking with Fox News as Jared Halpern, who was with the president in Michigan yesterday. The polls that I've seen, maybe you've seen different, it appears that if Mike Rogers is the GOP nominee, but it appears that if the traditional Democrat, and I'm drawing a blank on her name right now. Haley Stevens. Haley Stevens, the one with the fake voice. I don't know if you've seen that video of her speaking normally. And then now she's talking like she's all Missiganda, but that's not really who she's. she really is. But her, she would actually probably beat Mike Rogers, according to the polls, where the Democrat socialist, Abdul El-Sayed, would actually lose to him. So we're in a kind of a weird thing where we don't want the Democrat socialist to win, but that would actually be the best chance for the Republican to win. You know, I think regardless it's going to be a close race. Mike Rogers lost the Senate race two years ago in a very close election against a more sort of mainstream establishment type of Republican. And so I think the conventional wisdom is that Haley Stevens would fare better. I think a lot of the Democratic leaders in the state believe that as well. The governor, Gretchen Whitmer, who is very popular in the state, endorsed. Haley Stevens in the primary, which was a bit of a surprise. Oftentimes, governors will kind of stay out of primary races, kind of see how that plays out, but clear that she believes that Haley Stevens is a better chance against Mike Rogers. But you're right, it is going to be a close race, I think, regardless, there is a lot of name recognition for somebody like Mike Rogers served in the U.S. House for... a number of years before running for Senate two years ago, losing in a pretty tight race, running again now. And we'll see how that plays out. I think that was another reason you saw President Trump make that trip up to Michigan. Michigan has a very late... primary. That primary is in August. Early voting is now underway, and so it is one of the last kind of contest we'll see if the ascendancy of the Democratic Socialist, the more progressive wing of the Democratic Party can knock off, to your point a more establishment kind of mainstream Democrats. This will kind of be the final test now. of the strength of the DSA. Oh, yeah. If they win there with Abdul El-Sayed, there's no stop in the Bernie Bros. They are going to roll.

1:03:36

I think that's right. I mean, and listen, I think a lot of it is kind of built upon the same thing that propelled Donald Trump, you know, 10 years ago against a slew of more conventional mainstream Republicans. I was covering politics then. I remember the hand-wringing about what's going to mean if Donald Trump wins. Are we going to be able to win any races as Republicans, right? And obviously, we know how that turned out. But it is certainly a kind of populist, a kind of the system isn't working. a frustration that kind of manifests itself into oftentimes unconventional candidates. And you're seeing that play out now on the Democratic side in the same way that it has played out over the last decade or so in some conservative circles. Jared Halper, and we certainly appreciate making some time for us here on South Carolina's morning news and wish you an awesome day over at Fox. What's going on, everyone? Again, that's 844-844-I-Hart. Thank you very much. Have a great day. You as well. Hope to have him back on soon. In the meantime, yes, it is the outsiders that usually have a better shot at winning. And to his point, Donald Trump did run as an outsider. And we have seen Barack Obama run as an outsider. We saw Bill Clinton call himself an outsider. You want to be on the outside and come in and change things. The difference being with the Democrat Socialists, as we've already heard from the co-chair of the party, they don't want to just change things. They want to end things. They want to end things like the Senate, the presidency, the Supreme Court, and borders. So it's a little bit different this time around. But anyway, we'll be back with more. This is South Carolina's morning news. This is South Carolina's morning news with Kelly Nash. Just before the top of the hour, I was talking about how Donald Trump has a leak problem. And we were talking about the, you know, the... private conversations he's allegedly having with generals being put in the media and stuff. But it's far worse than that. The Tasnam News Agency, which is apparently the basically, this is the, you know, it's like the Democrat Party using our media. The Tasnam News Agency is affiliated with Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, has published an AI-generated video Monday, which talks specifically about.

1:06:46

Quote, and now I can't translate it. The Daily Mail is the one who published this. Melania's obsession with fashion has become her biggest weakness, according to the narrator of the video. She has a special interest in luxury department stores on Fifth Avenue, and they start naming some of the addresses of Bergdorf, Bergdorf, Goodman, and others. These places could be suitable for operations by our global freedom fighters. It then goes on to note that Melania has changed her code name with the Secret Service. She's now using Muse instead of the traditional code name Mockingbird. Also, the hospitals in the areas are always contacted before she arrives so that the Secret Service can make sure that if there is an incident, they will have her blood types and other things standing by. Knowing that we have freedom fighters working in all of these hospitals would be a great way of eliminating the First Lady. The AI generated video goes on to not only list places that she likes to shop, it also talks about, in order to contaminate her clothes, one of our agents can use the nerve agent VX. Now, I don't know what that means, what VX is, but according to them in the video, this will kill her within two to 18 hours. And then goes on to name three of Melania's personal stylists by name. and says offering them large sums of money could tempt these individuals this is just the beginning the video concludes adding baron trump just wait for us you are next and the video ends with both of them dead It's frightening, Kelly, what politicians and our elected officials are facing these days in terms of world threats. And we always see it ramp up during a conflict like this. I mean, George W. Bush and his family faced the same thing after 9-11. I mean, where there were constantly up and down the steps to the bomb shelter because they didn't know what was coming next. But yeah, to go this deep into Melania of Trump and her personal uses of stylists and. You know, I mean, she's always going to have security around her, but is it ever enough? Well, in the fact... Sorry, this comes on the heels of, you know, JD Vance, the vice president, there was apparently a leak in his secret service detail about his travel plans, his travel schedule. That investigation's underway right now. There are already too many leaks happening at the top in a time when we can't afford it. And the story in the Daily Mail mentions that they currently have several billboards throughout Tehran. talking about death not to Donald Trump, but the entire first family. So these people are savages. They want to murder women and children, and they would love to start with Melania and Baron Trump. That's where they go. Now, the indication is being given by some in Tehran that this is the reason that Donald Trump has backed off the last few nights, that they have won. This is the point where Donald Trump needs to open hell on Tehran. I mean, he's been president now for, what, six years overall? This is not the first time he or his family have been threatened. I doubt he's made a military decision based on a threat from a country.

1:10:06

Exactly. I don't think that he would be cowering to this. But the fact that they're using this to say that the reason he's backed off the last few nights is because we're now naming his wife and his child. And we now know the code name that she uses with the Secret Service. We know the names of her stylists. And we know her shopping habits. And we know the stores. And we know that we can get to her. We're using these types of agents on these types of clothes. And we know people who work in the hospitals, specifically these hospitals. This is. This is scary stuff. But if I was Donald Trump, I would unleash hell all over them. I would show no mercy on Iran today. But again, that's how I would handle it? How would you handle it? If somebody started threatening your family that way. Interesting to contemplate. Thankfully, neither one of us, Christopher or myself or probably you will ever be in that position. But it's just stuff to think about as we continue on South Carolina's morning news. You're listening to South Carolina's morning news with Kelly Nash. Well, well, well, we started listening to it yesterday. 70 hours of audio recordings made by the then-former vice president in 2017. Joe Biden. were made public yesterday, and I'm not going to play them because it's almost incoherent. I will play you a snippet. This is CBS News. How do you say her name? The lady who is the White House Correspondent Association president until the other night. Waysha Zhang, I think is how you say her name. Anyway, she is the CBS White House correspondent. This was her report last night. Well, Matt, the newly released audio shows that in 2017, when former President Biden was writing a memoir, he told his ghostwriter on several occasions that he had classified documents in his possession. Biden can be heard saying, I just found all the classified stuff downstairs in reference to volumes of notes Biden kept in his home. He also said some of this may be classified, so be careful. Biden, who fought for years to keep these recordings private. would later publicly criticize President Trump for his handling of classified documents. We have the pot. Hey everybody, Lady Luck here, and we're celebrating America's 250th birthday. Now, all summer long, I'm going to be celebrating by playing on SpinQuest.com, which is an American-owned social casino. Is it real?

1:12:51

But with iHeart, everything you hear is guaranteed human. That's why 78% of listeners trust their favorite radio hosts product recommendations. And if you own or manage a business here or need to drive sales, that trust goes a long way in creating your future customers. Make iHeart media a part of your 2026 plan today. Call 844-844-I-Hart. Again, that's 844-Ehart. Being called black right there. But more importantly, I think that what is of, of. greater interest is not just the fact that Joe Biden had the classified documents that he literally just found downstairs and that he was willing to share them with a ghostwriter who clearly does not have classified. And Joe Biden couldn't declassified this, unlike what the president can do. As the vice president, he didn't have that power. More importantly was the fact that going back to 2017, Biden is showing very, very clear signs of cognitive decline. There is a moment on that tape where he doesn't say anything for about two minutes. He just sits there for about two minutes. And then the guy who's the ghostwriter says something to him and he's like, oh, okay, I'm back. And then there's another point where he's trying to discuss something and then he gets himself off track and he says, this is confusing me. And then an assistant has to come in and remember, sir, you were talking about this, that, and the other thing. So going back to 2017, almost, well, it is nine years ago now. Joe Biden was in a state of cognitive decline. And that would have been obvious to anybody who worked with them. So the lie, the weekend at Bernie's with Biden began literally nine years ago. Kelly, it's sad to listen to. And remember, this is a ghostwriter. This is someone who's aiding Joe Biden in writing a book. This is not a deposition where you're almost coached sometimes to say, I can't recall or I don't remember. This is different. Yeah, and this is him trying to sell some books. Yeah. Joe Biden's like, hey, you know, I got some classified information, pal. Let's get that out there into the book. Maybe we can make some money off of it. I don't believe that any classified information ended up in the book, if I understand the reporting on that correctly. Robert Hur, though, H-U-R, not H-E-R. He's the guy who was the special counsel who in 2024. said that, look, I can't prosecute this guy. There's no jury in the world that would want to send a guy like this to prison. He doesn't know what he's talking about, basically. And he was raked across the call. Are you kidding me? This is the sharpest tack out there. There's nobody smarter than Joe Biden. Go back to 2017 and listen to him for 70 hours, struggle to get through these interviews for somebody else to write his book. Now, again, it's a ghostwriter, to your point, which means that Joe Biden claims he wrote it himself.

1:15:51

But the ghostwriter wrote it after suffering through this interview with Joe Biden. Again, the 70 hours, I'm not going to listen to all 70 hours, but the stuff I've heard is painful. That's why I played her version of it. But it's nice to see CBS at least reporting on the fact that Joe Biden was just doling out classified documents to whomever could possibly pay him a nickel. Coming up next, the current Attorney General for the state of South Carolina, Alan Wilson will join South Carolina's morning news. Your news, traffic, weather, and in... information stations. This is South Carolina's morning news on 103.5 FM, 560 AM WVOC, and 943 WSC. Now, Kelly Nash. There is going to be a ton of coverage on Lindsey Graham today at the Capitol, then tomorrow. down here at the State House and then ultimately in Pickens County late tomorrow afternoon. In the interim, South Carolina is scrambling to replace Senator Lindsey Graham. Who's going to get it? Well, today at noon is the last opportunity you have to file if you want to run to be the next senator for South Carolina as a Republican. And starting this weekend, we're going to be doing these things called the Senate Stumps. Alan Wilson, the current GOP nominee for governor and the sitting attorney general for the state of South Carolina is going to be the moderator for that. I got Alan on the phone yesterday. Why are you hosting these things?

1:19:18

show where you get into a shouting match or someone gets up there and filibuster is a question because we want to move when we have each of these candidates for such a short period of time and you know in the past there are people that get up there and they talk for five minutes and somewhere buried in there is a question we need to be able to give people the questions quickly and give as much time as possible to the candidates and so my intent will be to have a conversation that will allow you to hear from the candidate for the senate more than the person asking the question. And again, you would email team at SCGOP if you'd like to go to the one in Charleston as well. All right, we're going to see if we can squeeze in a little snippet of our interview with former governor Sanford coming up. This is South Carolina's morning news. This is South Carolina's morning news on 103.5 FM and 560 a.m. WVOC, Columbia and 943 WSC, Charleston. Now. Kelly Nash. Currently, just on 103.5 FM in Columbia, as we continue to have problems with the AM transmitter here. But thank you to the IHurt Radio app. You can still hear us on WVOC or on 94-3 WSC Charleston. In the meantime, yesterday, the former governor of South Carolina, Mark Sanford, called in, talking about his new campaign to run for the Senate. I started the recording right after he, you know, I said, I hope you're doing great. And he said, well, not as good as you. What I'm hanging in there. How about that? Come on, man. But this whole thing has come up out of the left field, but we are where we are, and I believe so strongly. My fear is on the financial trajectory of our federal government that I've gotten into the same. Yeah, we're talking with Mark Sanford. You have always been a legendary fiscal hawk. There has been nobody sounding the alarm louder than you when it comes to the national debt. And when you go to your page, marksanford.com, you give the record of results and you've got an impressive history on cutting spending. At the same time, when you look at your issues page, there's more issues than just the national debt and the deficit and all this sort of stuff, which again is crushing. And when you look at markshanford.com, you'll see.

1:22:38

how it factors into defense, health care, social security, immigration, so on and so forth. I mean, you know, if you look back since 1954, there have been two senators and Strom in his way and Lindsey in his way, I think certainly did their, you know, perform their role in watching out for the state. And it would be no different for me. I'm not unaware of the responsibilities that go with representing a certain part of... the country. And again, I think I've demonstrated that in work in governorship and work in Congress. But the reason I'm talking about the debt is all this other sort of fades away if you don't get that part right. I would feed the point that the responsibility to go with the office. I'm not in any way unaware of those. Yes, I think I would be a good steward in the office. but I would as well be an incredibly mighty advocate. on behalf of people's pocketbooks and wallets that have been forgotten about in Washington, D.C. And we had about 15 minutes with the former governor, Mark Sanford. If you'd like to hear all of it, you can look for it. I've posted it on my social media pages at Kelly Nash Radio. And Christopher Thompson and I were talking about that earlier. I've not received as much feedback on a conversation as that one because Mark Sanford is basically a very divisive person in this state, apparently. Well, a lot of people remember the way, you know, he. operated but i mean people remember the the the trip to argentina and the appalachian trail but i think i think he's put a lot of history in between himself and that including you know a separate trip to congress and ran for several seats since then. My only question about Mark Sanford at this point is, you know, are you in it to win it? Because, you know, he was again running for Congress down in the low country and then suddenly stepped out of the race and really didn't give much of a reason why other than he said he was through with politics. So I know you asked him about that. It's just it, it makes you wonder. You don't want somebody. you're going to elect who then decides you know a couple of years in well this isn't really for me anymore

1:25:25

I hadn't considered him, you know, kind of midterm, you know, resigning. But I also recognize there are the Ralph Norman crew believes, and I say crew, I shouldn't say anybody in an official capacity. What I'm seeing from the Ralph Norman followers is that they believe he's just trying to spend up whatever money he has left in his campaign fund to employ some of his former. You know, the people who are good to Mark Sanford in his career, he's got this money that's been left over in a campaign account. That's all this is about. They want him to get out and endorse Ralph Norman. That's where they are. So there are questions about his commitment just in different ways. In different ways, exactly. I believe after speaking with him, and again, like I said, I went about 15 minutes with him. I think he's completely earnest in the sense. It's an opportunity that no one expected to be presented. He has been energized, Kelly, since he decided to enter this race, even before he filed yesterday. I mean, he's been all over the campaign trail these last few days. So I'll give him credit for that. He seems to be fully in it to win it. Yeah. And I was trying to get him to say he would be a big difference between him and Lindsey Graham as far as the fiscal policy. Because Lindsey Graham usually came down as a very moderate person on fiscal policy. Obviously, that would not be Sanford's position. His number one issue and almost his only issue is... cutting the national debt and the deficit and all that sort of stuff. But if you want to hear the whole thing, like I said, it's on my social media pages or just look for the national briefing on the iHeart. radio app. All right, back with one more break. This is the South Carolina morning news. From the Midlands to the low country, this is South Carolina's morning news on 103.5 FM and 560 AM WVOC and 943 WSC. Now, here's Kelly Nash. Short time ago, I got an email from Taylor Reedy, who is the communications director for Lindsey Graham, basically talking about the funeral services tomorrow. It's first coming. first served at the First Baptist Church tomorrow. Doors will open at 10 a.m. The service will begin at noon. That is a clear bag policy in order to get in. Also, the funeral services will begin with a final visit to the State House. at 1045, the public is invited to pay their respects along the procession route making their way to First Baptist, and there will be a flyover, an F-169th fighter wing from McIntyre Joint National Guard Base at approximately 11 a.m. So I've posted this up on our social media pages. I'll get it up on all of them. Christopher, I hope you have an awesome day. I hope you do as well, Kelly. Thank you. All right, and we'll see you all tomorrow morning for South Carolina's morning news. You know what? It sucks to be bored. But when I get on my phone and play real casino games on SpinQuest.com, the time flies by. That two-hour wait at the DMV seems like 10 minutes. Play your favorite slots.
