But Aurora Waters manager, Marshall Brown, says they haven't seen many problems with the current QTS data center. The outdoor water use is pretty efficient per our requirements, and the indoor water use is even more efficient than the landscaping. The landscaping is using more water.

Now, the City Council did pass a resolution to create regulations for future data centers, saying future data centers will likely be even larger than the QTS facility. As the Colorado River volume declines and its flows struggle to meet the needs of 40 million users across seven states, the Trump administration is offering a proposal that allows Colorado to keep its current allocation. Under it, Arizona, California, and Nevada would take less water from the Colorado River through 2036, while Colorado, Utah, New Mexico, and Wyoming would be spared from cuts for now. Fox's Kristen Goodwin points out the water allocation among the seven states is based on a 1922 agreement set to expire at the end of the year. Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, releasing a new open source AI model that can run on a regular computer without the need for powerful central computing. Joining us on the KWA Common Spirit Health Hotline to explain whatever I just said is ABC News Tech reporter Mike Tabusky. Mike, appreciate your time. As always, the muse. Limmer model. What in the world is this? What is Mark Zuckerberg talking about here? Yeah, so this is actually a new range of models that meta is showing off. These are, as you said, kind of these lightweight AI models that can run on a computer. So the idea behind this is that it's meant to be pretty adaptable, right? If I want the power of meta's most advanced technology, well, I can access it right on my phone, right on my laptop. I don't necessarily need a huge computer setup. I don't need to, you know, go into the cloud or, you know, source this from these huge computer servers. It's relative. lightweight when we talk about, you know, kind of the power of these artificial intelligence models. And it's part of this larger strategy that Meta has been rolling out with this Mark Zuckerberg essay that we saw published yesterday alongside the release of these new models called The Future is for Everyone. And in this, Mark Zuckerberg kind of outlined his new philosophy for how we can best use super intelligence. That is to say, super advanced artificial intelligence. It's sometimes called artificial general intelligence. And basically his idea is to offer artificial intelligence either free or at extremely low cost everywhere, right? And this means both monetarily, these models are available for anyone to download for free, build things off of. They are not the most powerful models that meta has ever built, but they are kind of in that conversation. They are, you know, pretty advanced when we talk about what meta's capabilities are. But he's also talking in this essay about how AI really shouldn't cost. communities. You know, we are not, we're talking here about data centers, which have seen these huge pushbacks across the country for putting pressure on local electrical grids, water systems. He has committed to building energy generating infrastructure, wherever meta invests in data centers, ideally to give back some sort of low cost energy to those communities. He has also said that they're going to be investing a billion dollars to support police and firefighters in towns that are hosting its data centers. things to say on the regulatory front, he kind of wants to open up competition with China. There are restrictions on who can use what models that are built by Chinese AI firms. He would like those restrictions to go away because, you know, a rising tide lifts all boats. Competition should be fierce in the AI space and they would like to win that. Basically, this all boils down to this idea that AI should be accessible enough for everyone and it should be cheap. And of course, this comes against the backdrop of increasing competition out of China, a lot of big existential

questions about whether this will actually vaunt meta into the same tier as Open AI and Anthropic, especially when you consider that they are facing not just the existential AI challenges that are out there that we've discussed, but also some very acute internal challenges as well. Yesterday, at the same time that Mark Zuckerberg was publishing this big essay, a judge denied Meta's appeal of a group of lawsuits over its social media platforms, meaning they can now go forward. Yeah, Mike, I mean, I feel like a lot of people would hear what you just said in the essay and sound pretty good. I mean, for the most part, the data center community investments, we just had our story of talking about how a city here Aurora is rejecting one of the moratoriums of pushing back data centers. They're embracing the investments. Is this all something that Mark Zuckerberg is going to deliver on, or is this suggestions that he thinks this is how it should be done? I mean, these are commitments, right? He's saying that they're going to create this $1 billion fund for police and fire. You know, again, you kind of have to take them at their word when they say we're going to reinvest in this sort of, you know, energy infrastructure that will hopefully alleviate some of those elevated electricity costs across the country. I think it's notable that it's not renewable electricity. It is kind of just electricity of the normal sorts. But yeah, there is, I think, some skepticism that is definitely necessary here. You know, META has kind of gone down an unusual path when it comes to its focus in the last several years. You know, obviously they started as a social media company, and that is where, you know, they make all their money. But now that's facing this kind of threat of, you know, these lawsuits that are coming for their business, saying that they've designed in these addictive features, which harm children. They're on the hook already for almost a billion dollars because of lawsuits that they've lost on that front. That hurts their ability to focus on and invest. in artificial intelligence. And now, on top of that, a lot of the corporate responsibility stuff that they are committing to as well. So, yeah, I think there's maybe a reason to raise your eyebrow a little bit here, but that is also a hugely profitable company, and they make a fair amount of money. So, you know, they certainly can afford to do this. I think whether they will remains to be seen. And of course, on top of that, the threat of MySpace coming back. Former DPS board member Aante Anderson says that the council isn't considering the impacts to low-income neighborhoods. When the environment is under attack, it is impacting black and brown people more so than it is the white neighbors that live in Francois district. But city staffers say they're not seeing any problems with the current QTS data center already operating in the city. The Garfield Sheriff's Office arrested Tyler Lauren Boebert on various felony charges, including sexual exploitation of a child. He was taken into custody on Sunday, released on a $10,000 bond. Prosecutors say he videotaped himself having sex with a 17-year-old and then posted the video on Instagram. His next court appearance is scheduled for next Wednesday. DIA's search for a new CEO is going global. Denver is selecting global executive search firm Corn Ferry to carry out an international search for the airport CEO after Phil Washington retired in June following five years in the role. A community advisory panel will assist Corn Ferry in the search. Then Mayor Mike Johnston will interview finalists and nominate his leading candidate for the city council before the end of the year. Douglas County resumes classes tomorrow. Superintendent Aaron Kane says they'll notice some changes. For one thing, Friday's schedule will be different. We're putting in a 45-minute delayed start on Friday mornings so that our teachers have some time to collaborate altogether to really study student data and decide exactly what they need to do in order to further every single student on their instructional trajectory. Other districts starting classes this week include Adams 12, five-star schools, Boulder Valley, Westminster, and Englewood. At least those students won't have to suffer through the heat much longer because relief is on the way. Thursdays, the real game changer, a 90% chance of rain is what we currently have. Friday and Saturday looking fairly stormy and widespread at that. So that's going to be some great news. This is not just a one and done. I think this is going to carry into the weekend. Fox 31 meteorologist Jacob Woods says those rains will come with cooler temperatures and high forecast around 80 degrees on Thursday and through the weekend. Sometimes protecting the president means being a little bit sneaky. We're learning more about President Trump's quick departure from the NATO summit in Turkey last month after getting threats from Iran. According to the Washington pose, Trump boarded the older Air Force one in front of the cameras, waving from the stairs, and then slipped out a door on the other side of the plane into an airport catering truck, which then drove him to a smaller military jet. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said reportedly flew with him, boarding separately to make the flight look routine. That's ABC's Karen Waugh. President Trump now ordering changes to vaccines for children. A new executive order recommends reducing vaccines from 18 to 11, and he wants the biggest one split up. The MMR, we want to have separate, separate visits, separate times. The vaccine being broken into three separate single doses and vaccines being administered in separate visits. The president getting plenty of pushback from pediatricians and former CDC director, Dr. Richard Besser. I think it's absolutely ludicrous. The MMR, the Muslim's Rebellishat, has been given for decades and has been shown to be safe. He worries parents won't take the time to get their children vaccinated if they have to make three separate visits to the doctor's office. Iran now demanding reparations from the United States to end the war. President Trump responding by saying that Iran should pay the U.S. for the deaths of Americans. He says he's instructing his negotiators to put this demand firmly on the table in future talks. One way to read this is to say the president is not taking seriously the Iranian demand for reparations that he's rejecting it out of hand by making this counterpropos. That's ABC Stephen Portnoy. Desperate searches this morning in Columbia. A massive 7.4 magnitude earthquake there is now being blamed for more than 130 deaths. Realtor.com is out with a list of the most in-demand zip codes for homebuyers in the first half of 2026. With a $600,000 median list price, Peabody, Massachusetts is the hottest place for U.S. home shoppers right now with views per property in the area receiving just over four times the U.S. average. For the fourth year in a row, the website's top ten hottest zip codes are all in the northeast or Midwest. That's largely because fewer homes have been built in those regions, leaving buyers to compete for fewer properties. Meanwhile, buyers competing for homes in these areas tend to be financially well prepared. as the average down payment was 17.1% across the top 10 compared with a 13.1% nationally. The existing building, Valor on the Facts, offers supportive housing to people with brain injuries. Brothers Redevelopment purchased the land for the new building for $800,000. The president of Brothers Redevelopment says Valor on the Fax filled up quickly as there's a lack of support of housing for people with brain injuries. North end I-25-270, I-76 ramps are backing up a bit, especially southbound 25. The ramp to eastbound 270, that's actually backed up quite a ways now onto I-25, so it is starting to slow things down. The search is on for the next CEO of the Denver International Airport. Denver is using the global executive search firm Corn Ferry to lead it in its global search to replace DIA CEO Phil Washington after he announced his upcoming retirement. A community advisory panel made up of community stakeholders and aviation experts has been assembled to support Corn Ferry throughout the selection process. Denver Mayor Mike Johnson will then be interviewing the finalists and make his nomination by the end of 2026. And we're learning more about why a wolf was shot and killed in northwest Colorado back in January. A statement from Colorado Parks and Wildlife say that a hunter accidentally shot the wolf thinking that it was a coyote. That wolf was part of the pack reintroduced from British Columbia last year. Wolves listed as state and federally protected and dangerous species. Killing one could lead to fines or possible jail time. Coming up, fewer annoying phone calls for those in Europe. Well, that is if you live in France. As of today, those unsolicited calls are now banned in that country. Joining us on the KUA Commons Spirit Health hotline with the latest is Fox News Radio's Jonathan Savage. Jonathan, appreciate your time as always. Explain a little bit about the specifics of this law that's now in effect in France. How did it really come to be? It came to be because of years of campaigning from consumer groups and individual French people who were fed up. According to a parliamentary report, 97% of the French population said they were annoyed by daily telemarketing calls. And other statistics suggest that three quarters receive at least one unsolicited sales call every week. Now, in the past, you could opt out, much like people try to do in the United States. But the opt-out basis has been scrapped. The presumption has been reversed. You cannot call someone to try to sell them unless they have opted in to telemarketing in the first place. Or else, what happens in this situation? Is there fines? Is there penalties if you continue to receive these calls? Yeah, these are pretty strong penalties. I think most people believe individuals who make illegal calls could be fined up to $86,500. For companies, the maximum fine is $430,000. But there are even tougher penalties. where vulnerable people are targeted. So in the most serious cases, you could see up to a $575,000 fine and up to five years in prison. Wow. So when we're looking at this situation, Jonathan, I mean, are we going to see maybe people lose their jobs? If they have call centers, if this is their sole responsibility is to reach out to people and do some of this cold calling in France. Well, yeah, there is, of course, a telemarketing industry, and it could certainly have an impact, but not just in France. Across the Mediterranean in Morocco, they've got a huge French-language call center industry, and France is the main market for them. The Moroccan employment minister thinks that this French change could put more than 40,000 jobs at risk. Any likelihood that we could see something like this approved here in the U.S.? There's no obvious reason why it couldn't be brought in. You've got a do not call system in the US which has been challenged constitutionally and survived. And you've got federal regulators that have significant enforcement powers. But by changing it from an opt-out to an opt-in system, you might see that the American telemarketing industry gets involved in the lobbies to prevent that from happening. But also, it's quite a complicated system in the US. There are exceptions for political organizations and charities, and robocalls are governed completely separately. So you'd have to not all this stuff together.

Now, when it comes to just looking at technology nowadays, is it pretty easy to track down where these calls come from? Because you talk about some hefty fines, are they going to be able to target these people in France, in the areas that they're banning this, and be able to contact them and say you can no longer have these unsolicited phone calls? According to the lawmakers and the people involved in France, they think that the calls in France shouldn't be a problem in terms of tracking down. But, of course, a telephone call, as we were saying, can originate almost anywhere. And they can spoof numbers to make it look like it's called, like it's a call from France, but actually it's a call from abroad. So that could be one of the most important tests of the law. One lawmaker who's involved in changing this say that calls from abroad. will also be illegal. But then how do you enforce that law against a foreign company? Oh, Fox News Radio is Jonathan Savage.
