Yeah, the Patriot Games, the 2026 inaugural Patriot Games, underway, and the president will be on hand for the finale. That will be aired, by the way, on ESPN on Thursday. The president had this concept of having a boy and a girl representing each of the 50 states. The best athlete compete against each other that are all competing for $125,000. scholarships. So the president will travel first to Cleveland, and then from Cleveland onto Geneva, likely taking Marine 1 from Cleveland to Geneva. I'll be on this trip. So looking forward to that, looking forward to coming to Ohio. and the president, I think, is looking forward to this event. It's been on his calendar for quite some time. Speaking of trips, I've got to give you the accolade. John, you were one of those reporting. There's something going on when Air Force One in Turkey was going to Great Britain. There's now, of course, some other reporting. They got him off that plane because there was a worry about a threat. And you were kind of on top of that at the time. I was. Yeah, I was in Ankara, Turkey for the NATO summit. And as you may recall, the president announced that he'd be taking the backup Air Force one from Ankara to the UK. The reason is because of credible threats coming from Iran. Iran, just 1,000 miles from Ankara. Those missiles can travel 2,500 miles. And the Secret Service taking no chances, reporting today in the Washington Post.

that the president was secretly moved from that. back up Air Force One to a different plane altogether. And unbeknownst to the media that was traveling, they did not know the president was not on that plane. And that's the reason why the Secret Service decided to keep this underwraps. Sounds like it's out of a television or movie plot in terms of what it was that they did to protect the president. White House correspondent John Decker on this point. John, thanks. First Energy crews remain out throughout the area, restoring power to thousands of people left in the dark by storms early yesterday, and then a second round of storms that hit the region overnight. Outages are relatively scattered, but First Energy is reporting this hour. 11,050 customers without electricity. timetable as to when all service will be restored. Two Canton cops charged in the death of Frank Tyson avoiding trial with acceptance of plea deals. Tyson died while in custody in April 2024. His death was later ruled a homicide. Special prosecutor Ray Grogan says it was clear Tyson was having difficulties breathing while the officers were trying to arrest him. Mr. Tyson told these two officers he couldn't breathe no less than seven times. Officers Bo Schenegge and Camden Birch faced charges of reckless homicide. Birch pleading guilty Monday they would charge a failure to report a crime while Shenigee pleaded guilty to dereliction of duty. As part of the plea deals, both officers are required to resign their positions with the Canton Police. In battle, Representative Max Miller refusing to step down from the ballot. Congressman Max Miller has refused to drop out of his House re-election bid disregarding the state's official ballot replacement deadline. Miller's retention of his... 7th district run comes despite bitter resignation calls from fellow Republicans in the wake of scathing domestic abuse allegations from his ex-wife, Emily Moreno. Local opponents accuse the representative of deserting Buckeye working families, while the Republican National Committee has loudly signaled that it will withhold all campaign financial resources from his contested re-election bid. Wine sales are down and researchers say the industry may be in a little bit of trouble. Younger consumers are drinking less alcohol overall, and wine sales are now at a 20-year low. According to Impact Database, U.S. wine sales fell below 300 million cases last year for the first time in two decades. And that trend is worldwide, with sales falling by nearly 3% last year. California growers are now pulling out wine crops losing 40,000 acres last year and 38,000 this year, switching to olives, nuts, agave, and hemp. I'm Bree Tennis. Let me ask you about Google, a little trending story there. They're going to show up some new stuff tomorrow. Do we know what? Yeah, that's right. So this is their annual pixel event. Google has kind of their equivalent of the iPhone. It's an Android phone. It is designed to kind of be their sort of latest and greatest, you know, in hardware technology. And we're expecting a whole range of different devices from them, not just the pixel 11 lineup, but also a new pixel fold. They're still in the folding phone game and probably not a moment too soon for them to show off a new folding phone because Apple is heavily rumored to be showing off a fold. holding iPhone come the fall, Google seemingly getting in ahead of the game, you know, trying to capture a little bit of attention around now tomorrow when this event goes up. We could also get a new look at their latest pixel watches. You know, we're not expecting anything kind of radical on that front is going to look similar to what we've seen from Google's wearable efforts in the past. Circular screen, you know, kind of nice chrome finished smart watches and that sort of thing. Potentially, you know, some new pixel buds, earbuds, and a new item tracker as well, kind of like an Apple air tag, could potentially be in the cards. Not reinventing the wheel here, Google, but still, you know, they are keeping, you know, up to date on, you know, their latest hardware efforts. And it's going to be an event in New York City tomorrow at 6 p.m. Eastern, hosted by Trevor Noah, continuing in a tradition they started last year of getting a relatively big-name comedian to come basically do a tech event, which is kind of interesting. So they've kind of pitching themselves as a little bit more of the fun. equivalent of like a Samsung or an Apple event, but we'll just have to wait and see for when all this is unveiled tomorrow. What hasn't changed is the fact that the division and the league still very mediocre and everything is still up for grabs. Meanwhile, Brown's back to practice today. Todd Munkin set the record straight. No one is in the lead for the starting quarterback. Dee Watson got most of the rubs Saturday to even out things. There's still a competition in as to will start Saturday in Chicago against the Bears. I have not. I anticipate the next couple of days. I'm kind of going through. They're each going to start a game. How do I want it? That makes sense. Like it's not, that's somebody who's going to start a game. We're not, we're still going to go through this this week and next week. We're going to have to decide when we practice against the bills because then you're not going to just give one practice. You're not going to give one of the quarterbacks the ones. You're going to have to rotate those guys a little bit in the preseason practice. And then after those two games, then I think we'll be closer to at least having a better idea. One's going to start one game and the other one's going to start the other. Okay, well, that kind of seems fair, right? All right, that's Todd Munkin. Guys, let's start with the guards. Terry, you wrote the piece, The Talent Upgrade. A week ago, we were excited, all the trades and the moves that were made by the team. They are three and seven now. What are we? Like four games back. We've had the team meeting. Where are we at this morning, you think?

Oh, yeah, the team meeting is always required when you're losing. And then if you win, you say, well, boy, start with the team meeting. And if you didn't, it's like nobody remembers you had one. So it's kind of one of those things, you've got to try it. I think the worst thing is it's a lot of something like 14 or 17 or I think going back to the All-Star break. So this is going on before trades. And the biggest thing of light is that just these bullpen blowouts and. guys walking people and you know one of the things that have saved the guardians over the years for a long time is a really good bullpen almost year after year they always seem to find different ways to put it together but uh boy this is a big mess now and it seems like uh i mean even kate smith is walking guys terry i i think If the offense stays as it is, it's going to be really hard to make up for maybe the downturn in pitching that we see right now, as you pointed out, especially from the bullpen. Before, the pitching kind of saved the lack of hitting, but now they could be in real trouble if they don't start to get some runs offensively, especially with kind of the shakiness at the back end of the bullpen right now. Even if you're, unless you're hitting like one of these teams that score six runs a game or whatever, if you don't have that bullpen at least average and slightly above, you're not going to roll a lot of games in modern baseball because. This is like you go to the bullpen a lot. I know as of about four days ago, the Guardian's still got the most innings out of their starting pitchers than anybody else in the majors this year. And you can still see how when the bullpen goes south, it shakes up everything. And, you know, one thing, Greg, most teams are usually better at one part of the game than the other. They either hit more than they pitch or they pitch better than they hit. And the Guardians forever has been a pitching driven team. And when that's not there, they're not suddenly going to turn into a bunch of masher. So they just have to figure out how to fix it or find somebody else in the miners that comes up. I don't have any lot of great answers other than you can see what the problem is. And it's well beyond the hitting to me. This might be a bit of a really hard philosophical question, Terry, because of the way baseball has changed over years from how we saw it when we were growing up to where it is today, especially with pitching. I just get a feeling that baseball today is really taking a huge chance, putting all the pressure on a lot of guys coming in after the starter goes out after five or six innings. At times, it just honestly doesn't make a whole lot of sense. What do you think? Well, that's very true, but the other problem that they have is that these guys, the amount of injuries to starting pitchers.

You think it's bad. Had they not put in that rule where a reliever had to face at least three hitters, these games would never end because they would just keep going. That was part of, at first people didn't like that, but we're used to it now. You go back and look at some of those games before. I mean, Terry Francona, that was back when you could call up a certain number of. More people after September 1st and now. I mean, they would have 15, 16 relievers out there in a bullpen or pitchers total like 10 or 11 relievers. And he was going to him like every other batter. this is what they look at and I mean part of it is we find a guy that throws 97 miles an hour and it seems like everybody throws 97 to 100 come out of the bullpen you just bring them in right but there also is a reason most guys end up in the bullpen because they're limited in some way whether it's control or they only have one pitch or mentally, they're not just tough to start. You take your pick. So you've got a bunch of guys that are kind of at least semi-flot in some area in the bullpen pitching, however, situations. We've been spoiled, basically, Greg, is what I guess I'm saying. Yeah. By this last more than a dozen years, a good relief pitching. Thousands more First Energy customers, as you said, Bill knocked offline when a second wave of storms made its way through Greater Cleveland. On top of the storms that greeted the region Monday morning, knocking out power to tens of thousands of First Energy customers. That second wave of storms overnight now has a total of 9,001 First Energy customers in the dark. Crews are out. in force working to get everybody back online as soon as possible. Toledo Congresswoman Marcy Captor Monday releasing a video the first time she's spoken publicly since last Sunday when she and her campaign director were injured when their car was totaled by a hit and run driver. First of all, thank you so very, very much for the thousands of good wishes that are coming from our community, across our region, our state, our country, and even around the world. Really, it's made a huge difference in... in my very rapid recovery. Captor says she'll continue recovering from her injuries during the House recess. Toledo police say they have a number of leads in the search for that hit-and-run driver. Two Canton cops charged in the death of Frank Tyson are in voiding trial with the acceptance of pleadials. Tyson died while in custody April of 2024. His death later ruled a homicide. Officers Bo Schenegge and Camden Birch faced charges of reckless homicide. Birch appearing Monday before visiting Judge James Kimpler in Stark County. in the police court. You did, knowing that a felony had been or was being committed, knowingly failed to report that information to the appropriate law enforcement authorities. Do you understand the nature of that offense? Yes, sir. Birch pleading guilty Monday to a failure to report a crime while Shenigee pleaded guilty to dereliction of duty. As part of those plea deals, both officers required to resign their positions with the Canton Police Department. President Trump says Iran should pay damages for the harm the regime has inflicted on the world for the past half century. Trump was asked about Iran's latest demands on Monday as negotiations continue with the U.S. They asked for money for the damage that we've done. And I said, that's a good idea. Well, we're going to ask for money for the damage they've done over a 50-year period. Whether you go SS-Cole or whether you go all of the people that were so badly hurt, so badly wounded or killed. Over the weekend, Iran had a number of demands of the U.S., including that the United States must completely compensate Iran for damages from the five-month-long war. The President told White House reporters he thinks Iran should pay for all the people that they have killed over the last several decades. The President added that the U.S. controls the Strait of Hormuz. More than 160 people are now confirmed dead after Colombia's most powerful earthquake in years. Many of the deaths are in and around Pereira, a city in Colombia's... coffee-growing region. Around 1,600 buildings have been damaged or completely collapsed. Many people are still trapped in the rubble. Soldiers, rescue personnel and families are searching for bodies and survivors. The Chocco region is one of Colombia's poorest and is often plagued by warring armed groups. Colombia's new president, Abelardo de la Espritia, only started work on Friday. He's declared a national disaster, creating special powers to react to the emergency.

This is their second one opening, right? It is. This bar opened back in 2018 in Kent, very much a college-oriented college-themed bar, very retro nostalgia. It's not that long ago, but, you know, the 90s and early 2000s. They're really going after the pop culture and music of the era. They've recently opened. They did well enough in Kent, so they've opened a second location. up in Cleveland in the former Inferno location. Think retro music and television. As I wrote to a not that long ago pop culture past, there'll be a lot of, there's a lot of photos on the walls of TV shows and movies at the time. Friends, Napoleon Dynamite, the West Wing, Baywatch. They even have a replica of Friends' couch that's there. A lot of Ohio college logos hang all over the wall. I talked to Brittany Garner, the general manager there. She said they also are trying to keep costs down. There's a lot of places. that things can get pretty pricey, pretty fast. Sure. And she said, we're trying to stay on the cheaper side of things. So don't expect really fancy drinks or anything like that. They want a dance club for people to go out. If you're interested in heading out there, they are open Thursday to Saturday, but check for the times and also check for their dress code. They have a pretty extensive... prohibited a tire list, and people should check that out. So if you like nostalgia, retro music, TV shows, and pop culture, barfly in the Flats East Bank is the place for you. So on the pricing, you can't quite go back to your college days as far as maybe what you're paying for a drink, but they're going to try their best, right, to keep the prices low. They are, and I wish I could go back to the prices from when I'm in college.

This is in the former Lakewood Melt location over on Detroit Avenue. And, you know, we're a long way away from the old days, the old man corner bar where all you could do is sit at a bar and you might have a TV to stare at and nothing else to do. There's plenty of places like that, and that's great, and there's a lot of sports to watch. But you could also do things at a lot of places. Speed trap racing is open, and their thing is they have racing simulators. So my colleague Alex Dara took a look and interviewed Andrew Almanar, the owner there. And it seems pretty interesting. These are basically high-tech racing simulators. You can get into a range of vehicles from Formula One cars to Lamborghinis across road and other. Basically professional style disciplines and tracks, you know, it's something to do. The owner said, you know, he is a fan of racing. He liked driving, and that's what he built the concept on. One of the story you guys posted, I found very interesting. Great Lakes Brewing, who, I mean, they're one of the first when it comes to Brewers and all. We've talked about that over the years. They've teamed up with this company, I believe, before this watershed distillery on a bourbon. They've worked with them now on a new ready-to-drink cocktail? Yeah, this is interesting because you and I have spoken a lot about the challenges and changing climate, the changing landscape in the craft beer industry. And breweries have done a very good job of keeping up with the Joneses, so to speak. Years ago, they got into the hard-seltzer business. Some of them have embraced ciders. Many of them have looked at the non-alcoholic sector. They're doing a lot of things and they're hosting a lot of events. Great Lakes Brewing Company has teamed up with Columbus-based watershed distillery, and you're right. They've teamed up with them before, but this is the brewery's first canned RTD that's ready to drink cocktail. These are very popular.

especially among the young drinking crowd. They call this a splash. This is a long drink. So this is a gin-based cocktail, low to moderate alcohol. They actually have an extra low-alcohol version of this as well, but the original recipe will be 6%, which is... which is pretty moderate to low for a beer. And these are refreshing drinks. You don't see a lot of them in the market. I've had them, and I like them. If you like gin, you'll really like this. They're not overly strong. And it's an interesting thing. The brewery has also collaborated with a partnership with Cleveland-based company called Cleaner, which is opposed to microplastics pollution. And some of the proceeds will go to their efforts as well. Clean water initiatives has long been an initiative for Great Lakes Brewing Company for obvious reasons. That's the main ingredient in their product, and they really take time to want to preserve the water and Lake Erie. So A-Splash will be revealed. Well, it's out this month. And they're going to have a couple launch events, September 3rd at North Coast Yard and September 19th at the brewery over in Cleveland's Ohio City. So a splash, the first ready-to-drink cocktail out from Great Lakes Brewing Company. Interesting. CEO Chris Brown over there is not standing still. This pattern, it's amazing. If you look at the radar like regionally, it's just wave after wave after wave of storm. And they blow up whenever they want. That's why your phone app is useless today and really in this pattern. And even every model, like our model this morning and all the models we look at say there's no storms on radar. Well, look at Ohio. It's lighting up like a Christmas tree right now. It's all south of Cleveland. This wave, this cluster of storms will push out. We'll deal with a lot of clouds off of that throughout the day, and then we'll see if more storms refire this afternoon. But warm and muggy today, up near 80 with that storm chance and really continues the next couple days, although most of the actions should start to shift south down towards the Ohio River Valley. So a bit of a drier tone in the Cleveland area itself. National Weather Service has much of us under a flood watch. We've just had a lot of rain in spots since Sunday, haven't we?
