Good morning and welcome to Daybreak on this Monday, August 10, 2000-26. I'm your host Jason Jay Jones, along with Rob Stevens. So. Congress and the race for Congress here in Southwest Florida. I'm talking about 19, not 22. We'll get into 22 later. But in 19, the one that we've been talking about so much with Jim Swartzel, Jim Oberweiss, Catalina Lov, Madison Cawthorne, Chris Susan Collins, Ola, Huatmae, Mike Pedersen, whom, am I forgetting anybody? Greg the Tacks, Bukowski, and Linda Sawyer, who jumped in way late, John Strand. And all these candidates are conservatives running for your vote. here in southwest florida you know it because you get five six seven eight text messages a day and yesterday i was uh in a zone i had my uh my headphones on and i was running around the house and doing different things that um just getting the house together it's one of our sunday traditions is like we get the house ready for the week and with school starting we're getting the week ready and my headphones are on and i'm getting but whom you've received a text message it's too long for me to read. Would you like me to attempt it? Or something like that. And I'd be like, no, political, don't want it, don't want it, don't want it. You've been sent to a long text message with a picture. I'm like, oh, here we go again. Now, I want them. I won't stop them because I want to be able to report on them and discuss them with you as we are so close, eight days away from making our way to the ballot box here in Southwest Florida. Now, as this race unfolds, you're seeing a lot of different people come out. You have those from Southwest Florida, and then you have those that are not from Southwest Florida. And either way is not a disqualifier from me. I'm not from Southwest Florida. Rob's not from Southwest Florida, but we've lived here long enough. And for me, this is my home. If someone said, where are you from? I say Florida. I don't say Ohio. I was born in Ohio.
I spent, you know, 12 years of my life in Ohio and a couple of years after here and there. But for the most part, the majority of my life has been right here in Florida. Therefore, I consider this my home. Now, when you move here, you can feel that same way instantly. But when you move here, after losing in the political world and other states, Jim Oberwise, Catalina Love, Madison, Cawthorn, those, Chris Susan Collins, all four of these who came from another state who came here to fight and try to become your next congressional representative here in Southwest Florida. Now, most recently... You've seen a lot of hit pieces go out against Jim Swartzel, one of them being saying that he mandated a vaccine mandate. Now, I didn't work here during the COVID era here at Sun Broadcasting, but I will tell you this. And those that I've talked to, including Trey from the drive, there was no such mandate here in the building. Like most companies, I'm sure there was, and we'll ask, Jim, we're going to sit down with him this week, and we'll ask him directly on this particular topic. But there were a lot of mandatory OSHA requirements for businesses during that error. And it was a lot of fighting and pushing back, but there was no mandate. No one in this building had to get the vaccine as we broadcast live from the Sun Broadcast Building. Now, that is me being completely... clear here and transparent that I do work right now for one of the candidates. But that doesn't persuade my vote. It doesn't persuade my content. And as a matter of fact, before he even ran for office and I took this job, one of the things I said was, and I think he was already running when I took the job, but one of the things I said is I don't want to do the bidding and I don't want anyone to control my content. And they agreed to it. So I know that you can always trust what we say here on daybreak because of the fact that I'm just going to give you the black and white. Most recently, there have been some major endorsements of Jim Swartzel. Now, before the show, Rob and I were discussing whether or not these hold any weight. He was endorsed by Steve Scalise and he was endorsed by Jim Jordan. The majority leader and Jim Jordan both just endorsed Jim Swartzel. They're picking the guy who's been here, owns the radio stations, been hammering. We don't need another politician who just moved here. And when leadership starts stacking up behind the hometown candidate, it tells you they're feeling the same pressure that you're feeling right now is that you want someone who has got your best interest for Southwest Florida in it. But one of the questions that Rob asked me, do I think these, go ahead and ask me again right now, Rob. Well, do you feel that these types of endorsements, like, I mean, granted, Steve Scalise and Jim Jordan are big names, you know, established conservative leadership, you could say the establishment, as we, you know, kind of try to define between establishment and grassroots. Does that really matter, though, in this race? Because.
Our voter base here, you, the listeners of this radio show, this radio station, the ones that are calling, the ones that are texting, the ones that are knocking on doors, asking questions, attending events. Like, our voter base is, I would say, arguably, probably more informed than perhaps most other districts, I would think, in the Florida, and maybe even around the country. Like, we're dialed in here. So does that endorsement really carry the weight that it... feels like it should. Yes, because their information is coming from the mailers. Their information is coming from the TV commercials. Some of it comes from us. And they get information from different places wherever they feel it necessary. And that information could easily be jaded one way or another. But this is, in your words, the old guard. And the old guard goes out. And later on, I'm going to get deeper into the races that are out. here inside you know the southwest Florida and both lee and caryer counties we'll get into that but understand that 30% at best will come out 30% of the registered voters will go out and actually vote come eight days from today of registered voters not of the population some of these races will be decided now who are those people those are the old guard That's who they are. They're the people that read something that says endorsed by Ron DeSantis and that holds some weight. Or not endorsed by Ron DeSantis would hold weight. Appointed by Ron DeSantis to me holds no weight. And I'm sorry, but it doesn't. It's not like he came here, interviewed 12 people and said, you're my person. It's usually some kind of appointment that is done through. some kind of email and then eventually an announcement. I don't feel like our appointment process here isn't the greatest in Florida. That's my own personal opinion. You can take it or leave it. But yes, I do believe these endorsements hold weight for that reason, especially when you have so many people that are coming here just to get that strength. Now, yesterday I was listening to The Drive with Trey Radle, and he started his show talking about this race, and he talked about Catalina Lof and her $5 million that a PAC has put towards her. The entire 2026 budget for a PAC has been put towards her campaign, her campaign, that PAC, Love America, Uph, Love America Uph Hold Freedom, PAC. Now, it can say that It's not authorized by any candidate or candidate committee. And yes, candidates that run for Congress cannot have a pack that they own or operate. They can't do that. But you can't own or operate the pack. But when it's called Love America Uphold Freedom, it almost looks like it's your personal pack. And to put $5 million, you have to ask a question, why would a candidate that has varied a little no to no chance of making it? Because Jim Swarchel, Jim overwised the clear front rudders, they are in polling, they're leading, they're doing their thing. A lot of people say Madison Cawthorne's in third. A lot of people say Catalina's in third. I don't believe Catalina's in third at all. And by the way, I will say it 239-479-559.
If you think I'm off base, please call and let me know that you think I'm off base. But when it... When it comes to Catalina Lough, why would she put $5.5 million? As I'm listening to Tray today, I go, well, I think it's because she thinks she can get it back, or maybe she's behind. If two or three candidates get together and team up against one of these front runners or one of these front runners gets a couple of others to back them or put their support or put their money behind them, it pushes them. Yeah, but PAC marketing is a part of American electioneering. I agree. That's why that money matters. And I have... probably more mailers from Catalina than anybody. Well, when you got $5 million, you can put them out of $40,000 a pop. Well, the problem is is a lot of them are coming from CD22, which she's not even running for. Right. And there are lies. A lot of them. More daybreak next on 925. Fox News.
Clay and Buck at noon right after Glenn Beck at 9. 925 Fox News right all along. Welcome back to daybreak here on 925 Fox News. I'm your host Jason Jay Jones along with Rob Rob Stevens. Now. TPS has expired and the deportation of anybody on temporary protective status should begin. And ICE was on Evans Avenue in Fort Myers over the weekend and apprehended someone, saw a... A news camera there and immediately took off, leaving a car right in the middle of Evans. A semi-truck had to swerve and honk to avoid it. Other drivers slammed on the brakes. About 10 minutes later, Fort Myers police showed up and dealt with the hazard. No public details yet on the man that was apprehended or his status. But that particular section of this shows that... where support turns into frustration. Listen, we're all for you grabbing the guy, but don't make it a hazard for those of us trying to get to work. Don't make it a hazard for those that are just trying to go from point A to point B, the regular folks out there, and leave it for the local cops to clean up. It shows where the cooperation still isn't there and the coordination still isn't there. It's the missing link. But we did get somebody off of the streets. Now, when it comes to the particular enforcement of Haitian... TPS holders. It has taken a whole other level inside the place where, Rob, do you remember where they used, they were said to be eating cats? The Haitians were eating cats? Springfield, Ohio, right outside of my hometown. And here's breakthrough news. Now, pardon the background theatrics that they put behind this, but listen to what this woman says on breakthrough news. Ohio has about 30,000 Haitians. Folks received a letter in the mail. that told them that they had to go to this facility. They had no idea that part of going to this facility would mean that they would end up with an ankle monitor. You would get two options. You get $2,600 and a one-way ticket, or you get this ankle monitor. When these folks are wearing these ankle monitors, it monitors them and limits them. They can only travel 75 miles within their address. First off, Great. Ankle mater, you put them on blast, they're wearing a, you know, they have the scarlet letter on him. You know that they're either a convict or a Haitian illegal that's being tracked and monitored.
You know, here's the issue. I don't understand why we're taking the time to ankle monitor them and not apprehend them and send them on their way home. It seems like somebody in Ohio is trying to find a workaround to the system and figure out a way to let them still stay here. So when I saw this ankle monitor deal, I was like, this is something. that the Haitian should be excited about, but they're being dramatic. They're crying as it gets put on. They're making it seem like they're the scapegoat. And now what we're experienced is that being taken away from workers who have been here for 30, 20 years. Too long. We're talking about workers who developed a life in the United States and pay taxes in the United States, who are now being looked at as criminals. who are now being looked at as folks who are sucking the nation, right, who are being scapegoated for what is happening to working class workers. There's no scapegoating. There's a list of crimes that I could find within 30 seconds. If I spent four hours digging up crimes from illegal Haitians, I bet you I could give you a list that could go on from now until the end of the show, Rob. Robert Joachin, right here in southwest Florida, who hammered the mother and the convenience store worker with a mallet to her head. And apparently killed another girl six months earlier. Right. James Cherbin, a Haitian national in this country illegally, arrested in June of 2012. 26 tried to arrange a sexual encounter with a 14-year-old girl. Pierre Andre Jean-Louis at a Massachusetts, a Haitian illegal alien arrested by ICE Boston on charges including possession of child pornography. Michael Bond at a Pennsylvania. Michel Bond. I get it. They're French. Listen, here's what I... think when it comes to this. I think Florida will handle this differently than say Ohio and Springfield, Ohio. And how do I know that? Well, CBS Miami tells you. Oh, here we go. I voted for Donald Trump. The chef Creole restaurant in Miami's Little Haiti neighborhood is typically bustling with customers. Not today. People are scared. Owner Wilkinson Sejor says it's not just the clientele. After 34 years in business, he's lost his entire management team at seven locations and will likely have to shut down two stores due to the end of temporary protected status. The end of TPS means for me... that my future in the hospitality business.
is almost going to be non-existent. Right. Let me just say absolutely. Now, ICE was in front of his restaurant swooping him up left and right, and that's why he thinks he goes. Now, he's been here 34 years. I don't know this guy's status, and it doesn't say if he's a TPS holder, if he's a resident, if he worked out his process, whatever it may. It doesn't say inside the article. This is what I'm going to say. Rob, could you imagine going on vacation? Could you imagine if I went to France when I went to France? France, right? And I'm like, you know what? I'm going to start a business here. I'm going to get some, I'm going to get some temporary status. And I'm going to take this temporary status, aka the vacation. And I'm going to start a big business right here. And I'm going to make it a big business. And I'm going to put all my money into it. And I'm going to build a clientele just to be told that why are you here? You're not a citizen. You have to leave. And now what I do, I spent my wheels, wasted a bunch of money, and I got to leave it behind. You were hoping. that we would look at it or illegals, that we would look at you owning a business, paying taxes or whatever you want to say as justification for being in this country. Be in the country right or don't be in the country at all. Come through, assimilate, go through our process, and go the right way. or don't come at all. That's how I stand with it. I mean, I'm just kind of baffled that the guy built a whole business on workers that could lose their status at literally any time. It's kind of baffling, really. Right. No wonder your business is falling apart. But... Again, I know that there are a lot of Haitians in our community here. Not all of them are criminals, Jason. Some of them are good, upstanding citizens. Now that doesn't justify them staying here beyond the expiration of TPS or on a temporary visa. They have to follow the procedure like everybody else. I'm with you there, but I don't think it's fair to label them all as... Dark criminals. Well, that's fair to say, Rob. You know, I won't label them all as dark criminals, but your TPS has expired and you're in this country illegal. Criminal. I get that. All right, so as long as we understand that, they're all criminals if they're in this country illegal right now. As the law's written, yes. Absolutely. As long as we understand that, and that's just the way I stand at it. But there are, I guess, some outstanding... ones in some part of the country you're right about money by the way money does matter and we're going to talk which races matter coming up next you're listening to the daybreak right here on 92 5 fox news right all along
affiliates. They say midterm turnout for elections can be low. Let's prove them wrong, Southwest Florida. Primary election day is August 18th. Listen, decide. Vote. 92-5 Fox News. Election coverage done right. Welcome back to daybreak here on 92.5 Fox News right all along. So here we said eight days away from the primary. Lee County has nearly 500,000 registered voters, I think way more than it actually. Recent August primaries have notoriously pulled in 23 to 26 percent of the registered voters. I mean, that's a clear minority of registered voters. It decides a long list of races. I'll give you an example. Probably. The thing that I've never understood is that midterms are also the gubernatorial election and you have a low turnout and you have the lower amount of people that are voting for your governor during the midterms. I mean, you're talking 10 to 12% of the actual population will go out and actually vote for the governor because the governor's race is over August 18th. Whoever wins the Republican primary will be your future governor. I don't believe a Democrat can, in Florida right now, have the juice to get past a Republican in that race. That's just the way I look at it. I look at that about most races here, especially in southwest Florida. You've been saying it for a while that a lot of these races are going to be decided in this election. And we're going to jump into those, right? But understand this little turnout, it's not lazy voters. It's the system quietly handling the power to the most committed slice of the party because we talked earlier in the show. Those... party individuals that go out and vote, the old guard, registered ones. It's the ones that these candidates have been speaking to at all these meetings. I hate the fact that every one of these debates, what do they call them, where they come together and have a... Candidate forums? There you go. Thank you. Forums and everything is the same people. Everywhere you go, it's the same people. It's the same people asking the same questions. The candidates saying the same answers over and over again. Now, their early voting has officially opened.
So you can go out, or you may have already, and if you have, go ahead and let me know about that. 239-479-5592, 239-479-5-9-2 is the phone number. Now, inside these races, you have a few, like in Cawyer County, you have a county commissioner race that is going to be decided come August 18th. And it's incumbent Dan Cowell, someone has been on the show here regularly, and he's chair of the board of the county commissioners. He oversees District 4. That's the district that's out, which covers the city of Naples, parts of East Naples, and west of Interstate 75 and South Pine Ridge Road. Now, Dan Colaw is a former law enforcement, a veteran, a great man who has been on this show many times and has talked to us on a regular basis. Dan... Zagarak is running against him. We had him on the show as well. He's from Ohio. He served on city councils in Ohio. He is a Republican, including as president of a city council in Ohio. But all of his political... political backing is from ohio that's where he's from he moved to naples in 2021 so he's been here for you know for uh you know five years uh but and this is he had an earlier chance to run but he's only raised about twenty four thousand dollars uh and and and Dan is Dan Colewall is at $56,000. So their races are, you know, pretty equal when it comes to money. But there have been endorsements run out against Dan Coal, the Cawyer County REC endorsed Dan Coal. So that race has a lot of it. But Cawyer County voters? You're going to get to vote on that race. Well, Collier County voters in the single member district system get to vote on that race. So only if you're in District 4, you'll be able to vote in that race. Unlike Lee County so far, by the way, which also has a county commissioner race going on that will be decided. In eight days. Yeah. And that's the appointed by Ron DeSantis versus the second time running for this seat, Amanda Cochran. Amanda Cochran lost Mike Greenwell on the last election, but did win her district. So if it was Cawyer County, Amanda Cochran would have won that race and it had been over. And by the way, single member district coming up for you to vote on in Lee County in November. Yes. And that is that particular race. Jason talks about is Lee County Commission District 5. District 5. Oh, yeah, District 5. Amanda Cochran v. Did I say 4? No, I don't think you said it at all. Amanda Cochran v. Trish Petrosky. So, and there are actually three different county commissioner races, but the other two will go to the general. They are against a Democrat or an independent or an NPA, and that will go to general. And...
That's just a fact. So when it comes to this race, there is no Democrat, no MPA. So Amanda Cochran, Trish Petrosky, Trish appointed Amanda Cochran we've had on the show. Trish has repeatedly not want to come on the show. She believes she's not going to get a fair shake from me. She believes that my big events, it's my personal company that's done work for Amanda Cochran will jade my interview process with Trish, which I believe is completely unfair. paid by a congressional candidate, but I've interviewed all but one of those candidates. And when it comes to, and I wasn't unfair to them. A matter of fact, you can ask any one of them, do you think I was unfair to you when you came in? And I don't believe I was. So I would still encourage Trish to come on the show and sit down with us to get her points across because we've heard Amanda Cochran's, but we haven't heard Trish's. So I'm just curious what? where that race goes. Yeah, and it would be great to hear from Trish. I know that Trish has her reservations with us, but that'll be interesting to see how that race pans out. But I think here a strong case can be made that these races are less about ideology and more about whether voters want continuity. or a check on the current trajectory of both Collier and Lee County. I think Lee County is a more interesting, more volatile race than Collier County is. I think Dan Colwell is probably safe as an incumbent. I think he's good. And we like Dan Colwell down there. He does great work in Collier County. I wish I lived in his district. You know. There was a lot of a, I'm sorry, that's me, that's me. Hold on me. I'm sorry, I'm clicking on it something. And just for the record, I had Dan Zagorak here in the studio and a single guy who is living the single life and doing his thing. And it was, you know, it was. It was just wildly a little bit weird just being in the studio with him. I didn't feel like he had the political gumption that it would take to be a county commissioner. Well, the thing that just felt strange with him. And I'm not trying to dogg on a candidate here, but he didn't even have a website up and running. Like he had no way to steer people for information. And it's just like, I mean, I don't expect how anybody can run a race so blindly without being able to, you know, give somebody a place to go to look at your issues. Joining us now is Kevin from Cape Coral. Kevin, good morning. 239-479-5592. What's going on, Kev? Yeah, good morning, Jason. I'm glad you're talking about the importance of voting in the primary. You know and I know it's determined who's going to represent us in the congressional district. So it's critically important people understand. Get out and vote. Obviously, election day is August 18. But you can early vote right now. If you want to go out, early voting is open. You're more than welcome to go ahead and do it now. Now, I'm a person that likes to go out on the day. I am that principal guy. I like to get the sticker. I like to grab my kids. I like to take them to the polls. I like them to understand how the process works. It's just something that I've done for years, and I'll continue to do. It's something I like to do. But if you want to early vote, go right ahead.
Absolutely correct. I vote by mail. My wife's, you know, envelopes. She's in a wheelchair, so we do mail-in voting. But I will tell you that Zohran Mamdani won New York because the people of New York didn't get out and vote. And look what he's doing to their city. So it is critical people get out and vote in this primary election. And the only last thing I wanted to add, is there going to be three questions on the ballot for Cape Coral voters, and they're all housekeeping issues. I was on the Charter Review Commission, and basically the first one's going to talk about our ability to select a mayor pro temp. It's all just wording that because it was a mixed-up... in our charter, they couldn't even vote for a mayor pro-town. The other two are going to require that they sign an affidavit that state they live in the district and they have to live there for a year. The candidate. Correct. The candidates have to sign an affidavit that they live in the district and they live there a year so they don't run an apartment and end up running like one of our congressional. candidates they're doing right now. It's ridiculous. I wonder who you speak of. Oh, man, who is renting an apartment? Hmm. I don't know. I don't know. I'm not going to get that. But you're right. You move here and rent an apartment just to run. And I like the way that is. And you just pointed it out to all the Cape Grove voters to get out there. I appreciate you, Kevin, for being on the show. Also, I don't want to run out of time without talking about it. The only remaining Democrat in the Lee County School Board race. It's imperative that you get out because if 51% of the people go out and vote for one of the Republicans, and we've had Tony Cory Booker here on the show and we haven't heard from Carl Baxter or Giselle Gentile, whoever that is. If one of them gets 51%, it's over. 50% plus one vote, not even 51%. A lot to discuss. More daybreak and that mag a minute next on 92.5 Fox News.
Decision. The Magam Minute on 925 Fox News is presented by Provident Jewelry. Find them online at providentjewelry.com. Welcome back to daybreak here on 92-5 Fox News. Right all along. I'm your host, Jason Jay Jones, along with Rob Stevens. How about the number one America first story you need to know right now? Hey, everybody. It's Karoline Leavitt, press secretary for the White House. It's time for the MAGA Minute on 92-5 Fox News. Do you, MAGA Inc. Super PAC, that your allies control has a lot of money and a lot of people. Not my allies, I control it. Okay. You and your allies. $800 million. Are you going to spend it? It's funny, nobody ever, of course, I'm going to do. You're going to spend it in the midterms. I could spend it on pretty much anything or what. I'm going to spend it for, I'm going to help Republicans. Yeah, look, I mean, I could. do a lot easier. I don't have to be away in Nevada yesterday. I didn't have to be in Los Angeles yesterday making speeches. I didn't have to be supporting all the people. I have a lot. I have a busy schedule. I said to somebody, wait a minute. You don't understand? I won. I'm not campaigning. Now, that's the other thing. I get a tremendous vote. I have records in many of the states, the most votes ever in Texas and Florida and many, many states, Alabama, the most votes ever. The question is, if I don't run, will those people go out and vote? And that's the one thing I can't tell. I'm going to ask them to because a lot of them are very angry at Republicans, to be honest with you. They're not angry at me, but they are angry at Republicans. Well, there you go. That is President Trump. He was on Punch Bowl News, and he said that MAGA Inc. has $800 million to use to help Republicans, and he's got to spend it. He's going to help Republicans, he said. And this is the first midterm cycle where you're not going to see, like, it's in a while that you won't see Trump's name on there. Like, it's something to think about. Like, he is out there pushing for the candidates that's... basically supporting his mission. But understand, imagine if the rest of every Republican candidates worked as hard at President Trump, at raising money, at supporting each other, at going out there and making sure that you spend the money to support each other. A whole lot, a whole lot see him as a useful tool instead of the reason that they're even in the game. Listen. He's the reason a lot of people have decided to come into politics. He's brought a lot of people to the Conservative Party. And by him, I mean President Trump. And when you have President Trump out here with an $800 million pack ready to push it, it really makes me say, listen, there it is. That's what you need to see.
You need to see candidates that work that hard, candidates that go out there and meet you. And if you're talking about on a local level, on a MAGA local level, you know, I was talking to one particular candidate, and I'm not going to use this to boast up their things. But he told me today that the last door he'll knock on will be today. And he said every door in his, every door in his district. I don't think I've ever met a candidate that said they've knocked on every door in their district, ever. ever. And so when I heard that, I was like, wow, that's hard work. This type of work ethic will push Republicans to where you want, but those are who you want to vote for, the ones that are working hard, not the ones that are being evasive for interviews or those that are being evasive to even talk to us at the museum. And that was Kali Loff who ran from us. Like, it's... Those are the people. I just believe this. You want the hard workers, the ones that are out there doing it. And we're going to get more into this coming up later on the show. Well, it's been a pretty ugly primary, but I would also kind of align with Mercedes Price Harry, too, in saying that maybe we as Republicans should put a check on the hit pieces. And, you know, the primary is close. And it's going to be a... gritty week. And maybe that's exciting, but at the same time, that can also be very divisive. For the party, we have to make sure that we stay focused on the issues. Figure out who the best candidates are and we need to vote on how we feel. I would encourage everybody to go and vote no matter the candidate, but you just need to step up and go vote.
