Well, good, not skinny. Lest back. Wasting away to nothing. Pretty soon it's going to be a phone call to Spielberg to see if he is doing another Holocaust movie. I thought you were going to say E.T. But no, you have to be vulgar. Okay. Of course I do. Is there any other way of doing it? Anyway, good morning. Will, Cole Schreiber. Good morning, sir. There you are. And Amy? Hi, Bill. Hi. So your eagle is not doing very well. Jackie's having a tough go of it, yeah. Is there a prognosis yet? Nope. They still don't know what's causing it. Her red blood cell count has come up a little bit, but it's still just critically low, and so far they're just saying they don't know why. Hmm. I wonder if any other eagle in these circumstances would be... put down or allowed to expire or because she is so well known and she's become a superstar. You know, they do this kind of rehabilitation all the time, and sometimes it takes month. And so I don't think this is out of the ordinary necessarily. All right. No, believe me, any information we're going to get about Jackie is going to come straight from Amy to say the least. Absolutely. Of course. And then Anne finally. Hello, Ann. Good morning. All right. There we are. Everybody's happy. I'm not. I went to a funeral on Friday. That's why I was out. Did you get Will? I got well. Okay. Yeah, I got well. So anyway, I'm back, raring to go, and it was dear friends of mine who lost their son, and it was, it was tough. So I'll give you a report on the food, which I always do, because one of the things that happen at these kind of funerals is, you know, Jews are all about money and food.

Basically, you know, the mantra is they came, they killed this, let's eat. So there is traditionally a meal. It was an Italian restaurant. And you know what? I'll give a review later on, a restaurant review about the funeral that I attended. Italian food. Very good ravioli, by the way. Chicken a little dry, I must tell you. You were at a funeral. Yeah, yeah, I was. I'm discussing the traditional fair after the funeral. It's a very big deal. Thank God you're going to die before the rest of us. Yeah, you have a meal. You have a meal of solace and condolences is what happens. So there we are. Okay, enough of that. Are we ready, guys, for a handle on the news on this Monday morning, August 10th as we start. It's going to be a lot today because it's been a fairly big weekend. It's time for Handel on the News with Amy, Neil, and me. Lead story. Well, Iran says it is not going to reopen the Strait of Hormuz without U.S. concessions, and I mean big ones. And that is, well, and was it a week ago the president said if the trade isn't open, he's going to bomb Iran basically into rubble. It's going to be the biggest attacks this World War II. And then he changed his mind. And then the week before, it was in three days before that, it was going to happen. And he changed his mind. And now it's, and the quote is, he is semi-negotiating with Iran. Low-key negotiations are going forward. I don't know what semi-negotiations even are. That description, I could say that I'm somewhat negotiating with. Iran right now too. Yeah, you could. And at some point, where is the credibility? Does it ever, ever become apparent? I'm talking about to his followers, to MAGA followers. But it's not like the Middle East has one guy that's speaking up for everybody. It's so scattered and... It's been complicated long before Trump got here. Absolutely. But the straight, if you go back to where it was, the straight was open. It was a free international waterway. It is no longer. The, it changed the... premise the reason of the war has changed completely from the um there was going to be regime change uh well the president still says it's regime changed that the entire regime has changed uh because now we've got people that are willing to talk to us which is a crock because they're less willing to talk to us uh or talk to the entire world i mean it is far far worse can we just bomb it enough along that coast there so that

it becomes the straight becomes separate from iran and then we just call that island area iran is still there unfortunately you can't move iran no but you can separate it from the a couple of well-placed bombs you could separate a little chunk of land and go eh it's no longer connected to you Boom. That's still rough to do, is separating a chunk of land with a big saws all coming in. No, it's a mess. The president has gotten himself into a mess. There's no way out on this one at this point. And still look good. There have to be concessions. It's going to be very rough. We'll do more about this a little later on. At 7 o'clock, I will share some of what's going on. All right, moving on. Moving on, we need to stock up. The Pentagon has asked defense industry leaders for plans to speed production of weapons. They've given them 21 days to submit plans to drive significantly faster, more aggressive delivery schedules and or increase production for critical capabilities. According to this memo, we must dramatically accelerate our program schedules and expand our production capacity. Now, this comes after Reuters citing anonymous sources. reported about a week ago that the U.S. Army has used up much of its stockpile of long-range precision missiles during the war with Iran, even though the White House says, nope, we got plenty. Right. We have unlimited amounts, and why do you want to speed it up? And again, it's what we know, who do you want to trust? You're lying eyes or what I say? And so the president says we have plenty, although he did say we can always use more. And, well, we'll see what happens. We are being hearing that supplies are low. Well, considering how the kind of munitions that have gone, both to Ukraine, which is stopped, and what's going on in terms of Iran, yeah, yeah, I can see it. But you can't admit it. Can't admit that we're running low. Can't admit that Iran has the upper hand. Can't admit that we're not bombing Iran. Can't admit that the Iranians are desperate to, well, admit only or say only the Iranians are desperate to have a deal and they're begging to come to the table. You know, at some point you go, all right? Really? And I think we're at that point. This is another one. We have all the munitions we need. We have unlimited munitions in one form. I think he said missiles. We don't have a little bit light on the other one. I don't remember what it was, but just a little bit. Okay.

All right. So we've gone from the idiots that steal copper to the idiots that steal fiber lines, apparently. You've got Verizon customers across Southern California just yesterday experiencing all these service outages and all this garbage going on because multiple fiber lines were vandalized. So the damage was affecting some wireless and some internet and all of that with customers across Los Angeles, other parts of the region. a Verizon spokesperson came out and explained all this, but they got it up and running and explained what we already all know, and that is that these are not, you know, simple property crimes. They're dangerous and we've got to have a better system of. of keeping them protected. Yeah, how do you do that? You put electrical, you know, so if you touch it, you get zapped. Well, I was going to say gun turrets. Yeah, they're underground these fibers for the most part. Yeah, so just put electric fences around them. Exactly, exactly. So if you touch them, but what if you use, for example, kitchen gloves? that are, you know, made out of rubber, right? Now that doesn't help then, you know, because that's all you have to do. Now, I'm not telling you vandals to do that. Yes. It's domestic terrorism, period. It is actually, right? When you're causing that kind of destruction, whether it's copper, whether it's fiber, that that's domestic terrorism and you have to enforce it in very severe in public ways. Okay, one more before we take a break. Benjamin Netanyahu and Don don't agree on this one. Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, has announced that Israel does not accept the 15-point document. That's the U.S.-backed plan for Hamas to lay down its weapons in Gaza in exchange for Israel to pull out of the Gaza Strip. Hamas said in a statement, that it reaffirmed its own commitment to the plan, agreed to with the Board of Peace, which was created by President Trump, and called on all parties to help ensure that it is implemented. Yeah, well, they're up between a rock and a hard place. Hamas says, we're not talking to you until you pull out. Israel says, we're not talking to you until you disarm. And they're both struck between a rock and a hard place. I'll talk more about this at 8 o'clock with the rejection, because this is the most contentious disagreement that the U.S. has had with Israel in a long time. And a statement that Benjamin Netanyahu made, which... almost never happens. I'll share that with you. Rep Max Miller. He's accused of abuse. Not only Emily Moreno accused Miller of abusing both her, his ex-wife, and her daughter throughout their marriage, which ended last year. So couples going through child custody dispute and all of that. It's becoming public in recent weeks. And, um,

I don't know. That's that's an ugly scene regardless who you are, let alone a politician or a public figure. So he's saying that he's going to remain in the race for reelection despite the abuse allegations and. Um, there, you know, now you've got Republicans saying, hey, brother, you're going to cause us a seat. Yeah, well, it may be. This was a safe Republican seat. He did not back down, even though the Republican Party said, you've got to back down. You've got to resign. He said, no, you've got to drop out of the way. He says, absolutely not. I'm innocent and I'm going to go forward. And, uh, his name is going to be on the ballot come hell or high water now. He went past the date. the timeline in which he would have resigned and they would have the opportunity to name someone else. And now that seat is in play, which is going to be rather interesting. Do you vote? Do the people vote for a guy who has these kinds of accusations? And how much is the Republican Party? How much money do they pour into this particular race with him as the candidate? It's going to be very interesting. There's some weird politics going on today, but then welcome to weird politics going on today. President Biden's battle is getting tougher. In an interview over the weekend on BBC, Hunter Biden said that his dad's cancer has spread and metastasized into his bones. He says it's very painful and debilitating. The former president revealed his cancer diagnosis in May of 2025, less than four months after he left office. Yeah, the pain in bone cancer is extraordinary. Pain-wise, it's one of the worst cancers you can get. And it's terminal, obviously, because it's metastasized and has spread to other organs, the bone in particular. So he obviously is not long for this world. And he still says, I'm going to stay in the hot seat. I'll be there giving political discourse. And he will. There's no question about that. Well, Handel, you always talk about that Trump is going to not go quietly into the good night after he leaves office. He's going to be a part of things. Obama seems to be more active than any other president prior that I can remember on the other side of things. Obama now talking, but with both El-Sayed. and also talking with Ms. Stevens this past week in regards to bringing the party back together. He seems very, very hands-on. He has become that way because he is genuinely frightened of what Trump will do and has done in his power. I think he should be frightened of what the Democratic Party is becoming.

Because they are separating two into factions. They are. And that is a real problem because now you have these, quote, progressives who are, the Democratic Party is swinging to a great extent. You've got the progressive part of it. This is the playbook that the MAGA folks and the right wing, hard right wing, where they co-opted the party. There is no question. Now you're seeing the same thing with a Democratic Party going the other way. It should have been a cautionary tale. Yeah, I think we should have, you know, it's gotten to the point where I think the winner is going to be a moderate. At some point, we are, those of us who are independents say, you know what, I'm done with one side, the other, with this pendulum swinging so far in either direction. When do we sit down? And the problem is El-Sayed is not. a moderate, who he was running against as a moderate Democrat, but that doesn't seem to fly, does it? And this is not due well, by the way. Stevens was the one he was running against. And this does not do well because I think independents are not going to vote for El-Sayed. They're going to go, wait, we don't want a left-wing, hardcore left-wing representative or government in play. It's really interesting. Elon Musk. is infiltrating the cell phone industry. Elon Musk said during a recent earnings call that Starlink's terrestrial cellular network will probably offer better connectivity and higher bandwidth than cellular providers like T-Mobile, Verizon, and AT&T. Elon Musk went so far as to say that he envisioned Starlink will ultimately deliver a majority of the world's internet. Of course, that's a big threat to the U.S. mobile operators like AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile. Team Mobile CEO is saying, what's the gap that he's looking to serve? And they want to know why you're not in. Yeah, here is the quote. I love this from the CEO, Srini Gopanian or Gopalan. Gopalan. He said, I always prefer starting these conversations after your quote. What is the gap in the market that are looking to serve? I always prefer starting conversations with the customer. Why would a customer buy a new cellular service? Where do they go? What's their differentiation? Is that what you're doing in your commercials when you want to switch, you're asking people to switch services? Why would you switch services? Why are we better? That's the conversation we would have. Huh? They're always hustling and saying the other service sucks. So I don't understand this at all. I guess he's saying this on behalf of all of the current cell providers.

Don't know the answer. I think they're all scared. They're going to lose a lot of business. Yeah, they are. They are because today we can do a broadcast. Starlink is doing an incredible job. And it is as crazy as Elon Musk is, which he is crazy. He is doing an incredible job with Starlink. You know, in my travels and I'm going to try at the end of the year when I'm out of the country, I'm actually going to try doing this show on Starlink. because I'm going to buy a little Starlink package. So we'll see. We'll see how good it is. You and your little packages. Thank you very much. The typical American paycheck, this is good news, has grown faster since 2019 than any stretch since the early 1980s. However, it comes the bag news. Prices climbed nearly as fast. So consumer costs rose 30%. The raise basically went up about 38%. And so it's eating it. So you could look at that as, oh, it's eating the money. Or you can look at it going, okay, well, I got a raise that covers what comes with life. But here is the question and the problem. You get a raise and it disappears instantly. Your check goes up 25 bucks a week, let's say. And you look at that and you go pretty good. Now, food going up, that hits you in the face every single time you shop. And even though in many cases, people have gotten more money in terms of wages, the perception is that food is far more expensive and the inflation is baked in. Now, you're going to hear the administration saying, see, see, you have more money, you have more money. Now, when you go to the store today, you're going to... You have about 8% more, which is between the 38 and the 30. You have 8% more. But the reality is that's what those 3% and 5% life... raises used to be back in the day anyways. Yeah. You know, you get those life bumps. They don't do them anymore, but you used to get a 5% raise regardless. Right. Those things aren't. Here's an interesting, according to Yahoo.com, over the last seven years, there's been a gain of less than 1% a year in terms of wages. And let's look at over the last seven years, how much is inflation gone up? It's already baked in. The perception is done. And I think the administration Republicans are going to have a hard time telling people it's good, it's good. Inflation is under control. You're not buying more expensive goods. Matter of fact, I'm going to do a story later on what families are doing to buy basic needs like groceries. what they're spending on groceries. Everybody freaks out about inflation. Nobody freaks out about taxes, which is equally as inflated here in California. It's all very tough. It's already, it's all baked in. Things are rough, and I think the Republicans are going to have a hard time, and you're going to hear the administration talk about how great this is and how wonderful our economy is now and point to the fact that Wall Street, the Dow is up at record highs. I think it's almost at 54,000.

And so corporations are doing great, and that means you're doing great unless you go to the supermarket. Eggs were $1.77 last week. I'm sorry? Eggs were $1.77. Exactly. And here is, and that's exactly the point. This is the president has used this over and over again. Prices are down. You're paying less for goods. Look at egg prices. That's what he has used. Egg prices. Well, that's because they were such a big thing for a while. That is right. So the, and it's true. One thing is better. Yeah, now the question is, does it matter that egg prices are down when everything else is through the roof, unfortunately? All right. Well, it was supposed to be a fun sightseeing adventure, a 22-foot bayliner speedboat. flipped over about 10.30 Saturday night near Liberty Island. That's, of course, where the Statue of Liberty is. Twelve people were rescued from the water before police got there, and then police divers later recovered the bodies of a 27-year-old woman and a five-month-old girl in the water. 46-year-old Manuel Hernandez has been charged with 13 counts of reckless endangerment. Authorities are now investigating whether the boat was an illegal charter. Yeah, who, think about this. Look at the numbers. 22 feet of boat. 14 people on that boat, sightseers. I mean, that seems an awful lot of people for that size boat. And I'm thinking, how does that capsize? Does everybody go to one side and the boat capsizes? Don't know the answer to that. And is, uh, uh, I mean. This is it was a hot tub boat. I don't know what that means. Other than maybe there was a hot tub on the boat. Does that make sense? Yeah. And then where do you put the rest of the people? I mean, if a hot tub takes up space, I, this one's very strange. And unfortunately, I mean, the horror, of course, is that a mom and her infant ended up dying. Taylor Farms, we've heard them in the news. They're the ones that were at the heart of the lettuce issues that was at cyclo support. Amy, you want to take a run at that? Cyclosporiasis. So that's the one. Yeah. I don't want to use my tongue that early in the morning. It's a tough one. Yeah. So including now they've got more items, including salsa, guacamole, and this is all due to salmonella risks or weeks after it was linked to that other outbreak. So fresh fruit producer is saying it's pulling dozens of prepared items.

including jalapenos and things like that over this possible sell. Bottom line, you go to Taco Bell and order a taco. There is very little chance you're going to survive the week. Not true. Between the salsa, guacamole, and lettuce. It's going to be a tough one. They have pulled out of buying from this provider for right now. This is going to kill their business. This is all sourced to Sinaloa, Mexico, which I would imagine is a huge source of revenue for that area. Oh, yeah. How does a company like this? How does a company like this survive other than its lettuce and its produce is simply a cover for this drug? that's drug division. And I don't mean a pharmaceutical drug division. I mean the drug division. By the way, I have no idea if that's true or not. That hasn't stopped you for 30 plus years. That's absolutely correct. Is it chilly in here? Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is freezing her eggs. Oh, she should jump in there with them. Yeah. She posted a series of videos on social media over the weekend. She says this is a decision she made to feel more in control of my life. She says, I think it's important for us as leaders to have these conversations and share these processes, especially for working women across the country and to normalize them. Oh, and by the way, I haven't ruled out running for president, which she also said during that interview. Yeah, excuse me, why not? Now, the egg freezing. And I had one of the first egg banks out there many, many years ago. And this, it does make a lot of sense. You have a woman in the 30s who is not married, does not have significant other, wants to still have kids. Well, after about the age of 32, the viability of eggs collapses. Sperm for men viable right through your 70s. Tell me God isn't a man. And so women do this. Egg freezing is all about being able to have biological children. More and more people will do this. I had clients like crazy who did this. It makes a lot of sense. Oh, it's smart. Yeah, that decision is smart. Exactly what she said. It's women who are taking the smart choice 100%. Now, very few women who go in, I remember all my clients who had their eggs frozen would come in and we would talk about how smart it was and why they were doing it. Not one of them says, and I'm considering running for president. Well, something. Yeah. Yeah. California may find content creators and this has to do with, again, with. disclosing when you're being paid for posts, but specifically this is dealing with political posts, being paid for political posts. And.
