An accusation of voter intimidation and absentee ballot misconduct in Bridgeport just days before Tuesday's primary election. Wait, hold on. I'm sorry. I apologize. That's my bad. No, no, no. Obviously, that's got to be from like 2019. Well, maybe from 2023. My bad. I got to look at these dates. I got to get better than this. Oh, well, no. This. Oh. This is right now, Bridgeport Police investigating allegations of absentee ballot misconduct. Not in Bridgeport? No. Nation, an absentee ballot misconduct in Bridgeport just days before Tuesday's primary election. And tonight, police confirming there's an active investigation into this. A woman claiming former state senator Dennis Bradley opened her sealed absentee ballot and instructed her to change her vote. News 8, Chief Political Correspondent. Mike Saruli is live in our newsroom with the details on all of this, Mike. Missouri and Catherine, good evening to you. First, some context here. As you said, Dennis Bradley, he's a former Democratic state senator. whose political rise was halted when he was charged by federal prosecutors with wire fraud. Though he found him guilty in March, his brother, Mark Bradley, is running for Bridgeport Probate Judge in a Democratic primary against the incumbent Paul Gannum. Paul Gannum is the brother of Mayor Joe Gannum, who is a federal convict. So two sets of brothers, two different federal convicts, and one Bridgeport woman who showed us a video, she says proves an attempt to steal her vote. This is Bridgeport. This is another Ganim. Gannum's still mayor. It's a mockery of the whole thing. It's a mockery of what people like Jimmy fought for are right to vote. It's embarrassing. It doesn't stop. The sitting governor, the incumbent, doesn't speak about it. Nobody does. I just saw Chris Murphy's endorsement of his friend Ned Lamont for a third term. He says he's earned it. due to all the business that he's brought here. I don't even know what he meant. Yeah, like was that a joke? And now we've got allegations of absentee ballot, because absentee ballots, he did a lot for that, Ned Lamont, misconduct in Bridgeport. Like, when is enough enough for any of you people? Alicia Dennis is the type of person who votes in every election. She says she got her absentee ballot for this summer's primaries and voted for the two Ro A Democrats, Governor Ned Lamont and Judge Paul Gannum. Gannum, the first top two, A. Then on July 30th, she says Dennis Bradley showed up at her door with an unidentified man and asked if she voted for the row B probate judge candidate, his brother, Mark Bradley.

Alicia said she allowed the two men into her apartment and showed them her sealed completed ballot, which she hadn't returned yet. We zoomed in on this video from a camera in Alicia's kitchen and highlighted the item that Alicia says is her sealed ballot. She alleges Dennis Bradley opened the envelope. If this doesn't give you pause as far as now our seniors, whoever, people are stopping by houses. You got your ballot all set up because there's not one day to vote anymore. We got a million ways to vote. Now there's going to be house calls. Sometimes they're going to be nice. Like we'd prefer other times that are going to be, you're going to do what I, or things are going to get real ugly. This is what you've made. This is what Ned Lamont was all about, too. You did a real good job. You let this one down. I don't reach in this pocket, hand me a pin and point to cross out where I marked and then circle the bottom one, the two beads. All you'd have to do is circle the same thing here. Then we're going to put it just across right there. That's balls, man. Circle right there. You go in a home to me do that. She complied with Bradley's instructions, switching her vote from Paul Gannum to Mark Bradley. I did it because I was intimidated, and I didn't know what was going to become of this anyway. I just wanted to do what I had to do until they can get out my house. They're going to be that who ties it by and blah? You know that you did it on your own. And everybody touched it. This guy saying right out, yeah, you want to change these. What are we going to do? The ramifications as far as those two men are concerned should be serious. This is an old lady. He's 90 years old. This is reaping what you sell. And it's Bridgeport again. Like, who could sit idly buy for this stuff? Were you inside an apartment on East Main Street while a woman was crossing out Judge Gannam's name and filling in your brother's name. Were you present when that happened? Sir, thank you very much for that opportunity. Let me say it again. Judge Ganim is going out of his way to create fake reports and fake news. Bradley kept up his criticism of Paul and Joe Gannum. Yes or no. Have you ever opened a sealed absentee ballot on me? Can I answer your question? You specifically said that a person made an accusation about me. And I'm telling you that time and time again, Judge Ganim has used SEC and the complaint system to make false reports and false allegations. Then we showed Bradley the video. Is that you walking into the apartment there? That's you dude. What do you do? It appears to be me. What's that that you're looking at on the table with her? I'm looking at a sheet. Yeah. And that is what in your hands right now? I'm looking at a sheet. I have no idea. Bradley contends there's no way to verify whether that item in the video is what Alicia says it is. Again and again, we asked him if he had ever opened another person's sealed ballot or if he has ever been present when a person fills out their ballot. Both actions are crimes with narrow exceptions. It's a straightforward question. Have you ever opened another person's asked the ballot envelope? I'm answering a street forward. These gentlemen have gone out of their way to make false reports. Now Alicia did call the police after that episode in her apartment. She told us she never mailed the absentee ballot, instead voted early in-person for Judge Ganim. She told us the detective came and put her absentee ballot into an evidence bag. And Bridgeport Police, as you said at the top there.

confirmed there was an investigation. It's Democrat against Democrat. And there's a whole lot of that in Bridgeport. This guy's got the audacity to be on a tear. And then Ceruley's got the guts. Let's watch a video together. He got all Chris Harrison. He got Catch a Predator on the... Is that you right there? It appears to be. Does it? Does it appear to be you? You're in the same shirt, dude. And you're strong arming a 90-year-old black woman. He showed up at her apartment and forced her to change her vote. The governor, any governor in their right mind, would have a press conference today about this.
