Hi, Ryan Reynolds here for Mint Mobile. Are you looking for a beach read this summer? May I suggest your big wireless bill? It's got suspense, mystery, a slightly flat, emotional arc, and a shocking twist where you realize you've been overpaying the entire time. Fortunately, though, Mint's story is better. Every plan, $15 dollars a month a month. Every plan, even unlimited. That's it. Happy ending, zero tears. Give it a try at mintmobile.com slash switch. Up front payment of $45 for three months, $90 for $1.90 for $12 per month. Taxes and fees extra. Initial term only greater than 50 gigabytes, may slow when network is busy. See terms. This is Bonus Guy Benson. I don't want to sound stupid. Well, we can take that risk. Go ahead. Stuff we wish never aired. So sometimes, yes, my head is in the clouds. Gosh, you never know where these home stretches are going, but they usually lead to cookie and booze. Thank you. I don't know what just happened. Guy Benson.

And now it's time for your favorite segment of the day. Home Stretch. It's basically the only segment I'm on. So I've declared it the audience's favorite segment. Guy Benson. Guys, Paul Morrow here for Guy Benson, allowing me to sit in for him again. I'm very appreciative, but I'm a little less appreciative about our next segment because this is the point where I get up and close with our producers, most of whom are certifiable. How you doing, guys? I'm doing great. Thanks so much. All the meds kicking in. You feel okay? Listen, I took a week off. I had a staycation at home. I'm ready to rock and roll. And what did you do during this staycation? Can I ask? I decided for a week I was just going to be a stay-at-home mom. You know, like do all the volleyball camps and the running around. And I had almost every day six, seven kids in my car, trampoline parks. What I realized, Paul, is there are some people that are just not made to be a stay-at-home full-time mom. And that would be you among them, apparently? That's correct. Is that right? That's correct. So that great hissing sound I hear is to sigh of relief from your family. Now that you're back at work. I think everybody's happy. I believe my daughter last night said, you're going back tomorrow, right? I said, yes, Megan. Yes, I am. But thank you. But I didn't want to ask you, and you're actually the perfect person. Period. Actually, I just, that's actually how I describe myself. I'm the perfect person. I'm known widely as the perfect person. Well, two things I'm going to ask you. Number one, guess what I have to do tomorrow? I have to produce Jimmy Phala's show. You do? Do you have any advice for me? It's been a long time. Would Jimmy Farley? Pretend to laugh, all right? That's what I always do when I'm with Jimmy. All right? Makes him happy, you know. So he can be very funny, as I always say, sometimes intentionally. Are you surprised the bosses put us together, actually? I am, actually, yeah. I'm just surprised they didn't put you in a rubber room together. Two walking HR problems. Yeah, that's a lawsuit waiting to happen, those two. But the one thing that I was going to say is last week, I watched a lot of the Lindsay Clancy trial. And I know you spoke about it with your guest earlier today, but. Why do you think, and it's all I can talk about. And I was at a barbecue on Saturday and me and like four or five other girls. That's all we could talk about. From the minute this all happened three years ago, for some reason, this really, this case really, really got me. And. going through the trial was, it's probably one of the most heartbreaking cases I've ever seen. It is. It's awful. And thank you for bringing us all down, by the way. Oh, my, it's happy hour. Well, you're in a booth with this all day, huh? Paul, you have no idea. Anything would be excusable. It's good thing you're not armed. Listen, you know, the thing is there's no explaining it, no matter what side you come down on. This is one of those things where I'm not sure there is a truth. And there isn't a justification, certainly. It's just one of those things that almost transcends the legal system.

4:43

But look, I'll give you the metrics as they stand now. Prosecutions, remember, she can be mentally disturbed, even psychotic. The question becomes, at the time she did what she did, when there's no dispute that she did it, was she capable of telling right from wrong? Because under the law, if she could, even if she was really disassociated, that's the medical term, then she can be found guilty. She is liable. Prosecutions contention is that there is indicia that she did have that capability. First of all, she sent the husband out on these errands. The defense is contending. There was nothing unusual about that, but they do seem contrived, right? She sent them on a series of errands far from the house, gave her time to do what she did. She also has the kids sort of out of the way, the basement. Any noise that might have been produced, not overheard, maybe by neighbors and so on. She has them in different rooms, presumably, so that one didn't interfere with the other while she did what she did. And then afterwards, when the whole thing is done, she attempts suicide. And that appears to show a cognizance of guilt, meaning she recognized that what she did was wrong. Now, I'm not saying that that's right or wrong in terms of how this... prosecution should go. But that is, I think, the general basis of the prosecution's case. The defense will have to show, and I think there's going to be a sympathetic ear to this, at least among some of the jurors, certainly the mothers, that pretty much anybody who could do such a thing cannot be in their right mind to the extent they could tell right from wrong. And then on top of that, all these meds. And, you know, we do need to remember, though. She had nine meds that she'd been prescribed, but she only was apparently on three of them when she did what she did. And one of them was Ambien, just to help her sleep. She was an insomniac, I guess, because of her mental condition. So, you know, those are the metrics that are kind of blowing through this. And I've also heard that the pill bottles of the nine meds that she had been prescribed were, for the most part, full. And Dr. Siegel makes the point that she looks to have been hoarding meds, which sometimes people that are on a lot of medications do, and then they take them all at once. And so is that the doctor's fault? Is that her fault? Is she culpable for that? All of these things are going to blow through them. And the reason I say... that maybe this almost transcends the legal system is because just like Andrea Yates, I think she's going to go away for a long time either in some sort of criminal institution where she's going to get all kinds of psychological treatment or a mental institution where she'll be inside. Like Angela Yates is, Andrea Yates still locked up decades. By her choice, by the way. By her choice. She's got to be there. Now, these people do get out. And that's the fear. People are like, well, okay, you declare her okay. She's back to reality. The meds that you gave her are stabilizing her. And now she's out. It won't feel like justice to a lot of people if she gets out in five years. Okay. I understood everything you said.

8:01

But can I just ask you one thing? And I'm not just doing the blame game, but this was the one thing we were having a debate with the husbands at the barbecue. Me and a lot of the other women were saying, what responsibility does the husband hold? Because when you know how bad, how mentally bad, and she was crying out for help saying, I am not good. Why would you ever, ever leave those kids? alone with her. Yeah. I mean, look, all I can say is, you know, from outside, think of your own relationships. You never know what goes on between people. And it must have been such an just outlier, you know, something he never thought would happen. But let's remember the guy, apparently to the extent that he could, he was working, he was trying to work from home as much as he could, and he was doing what he could to keep an eye on things. And he had become the primary caregiver. Nobody disputes that. So this guy, you know, had stepped up to an extent, and apparently she had good days and bad days, and everybody is saying, and this is common in these kind of cases, one of the things they rely on is not even so much the meds because there's so much gray area there. But they go to what witnesses say about the apparent condition of the perp. And in this case, they were all saying, no, she was perfectly calm. She seemed completely organized. She was responsive to my question. So my point is, if she had good days and bad days, this was clearly a good day. And let's remember something else, or at least in his estimation, it was a good day. And he took her to McLean Hospital. which is the best psychiatric hospital in the country. Again, Siegel told me this. I interviewed him on this, and so, you know, I'm cleaning some information from a real pro. And he told me McLean is the best. McLean didn't keep her. And a lot of doctors feel like they should have. And what I was told by another analyst, I think Dr. Drew said that he smells maybe an insurance issue. And maybe she should have been institutionalized before she did all this because apparently she had said at point she was, she had fears that she was going to quote unquote hurt the kids. And herself. And herself. So, you know, look, I'm sure this is one that the husband liked to have back. But I mean, really. What are we saying that he's guilty of criminal stupidity? I mean, do we really think in any way, shape, or form this guy believed that the wife was capable of doing this? I don't know. I don't think that. But what I do think is that everybody knew she had issues. Mentally, she was trying her hardest. So I just truly watching this, don't believe that she. she did that because she hated her children. I think she was very, very sick. Undeniably. And apparently, and again, I'm getting this from Dr. Drew, I have to quote experts in this area because it's not my area of experts. I've dealt with plenty of crazy people, God knows, you know, especially, you know, hosting Guy Benson, excuse me. But that said, the experts are telling me that very often.

11:08

The feeling among the perps that do this kind of thing, and it's apparently not quite as rare as people think, is that they're somehow saving the kids. They have in their minds that they are saving the kids from a, they feel like, well, we're all going to die eventually anyway. And there is some horrible lurking evil coming for them. And by taking them out of this life, she is saving them and preserving them. I know it makes no sense, but that's kind of the point, right? I get it. But I know we've got to wrap this up and go, but are you surprised what I said to you, I can't stop watching and I can't stop reading about this case? I'm not surprised at all. Yeah, I mean, look, certainly from mothers, it must be an endless source of fascination because it's the kind of thing that's just a, you know, you say to yourself, so unthinkable, and then it occurs what, you know, it has the fascination of the unbelievably unique. But, you know, there's another thing, and it's no secret that the true crime shows are driven by women primarily, are interested in true crime. And the way it was put, I think my wife told me this, I was trying to plumb why, and she said that women instinctively scan for danger more than men do. And they are just sensitizing themselves and their antenna pricks up. And so these shows for them feels educational almost. My husband worries that I can fall asleep to Dateline. Like that's like, you know, I can just put that out and go to back. You're getting that, Jewel? She can fall asleep to multiple murders. You're locked in a booth with this person, you realize. You know, Paul, I just have nothing else to say. Nothing surprises me about cooking. This is probably why Dylan's leaving, heading back to Indiana. Yeah, that's right, actually. That is the reason. I'm terrified. Assuming you make it. Don't worry about it, guys. We'll give you a decent burial. There'll be some slash tires, maybe. I don't know. We'll see. Well, thank you, guys. And let me just close the segment by just saying, Guy. Hurry home. There are some people that are just not made to be a state home full-time mom. And that would be you among them, apparently? That's correct.

13:30

And now it's time for your favorite segment of the day. Home Stretch. It's basically the only segment I'm on. So I've declared it the audience's favorite segment. Guy Benson. All right, so let me bring in producer Christine since this is her favorite segment and we don't want to deny her of that. Here's a topic that I have here on my show sheet here today. The bald face truth about beards. And I don't mean the kind of beards. I mean like actual facial hair, beards. I love that you had to clarify. I had to clarify that because, you know, just felt like they need to do that. So, JD Vance has a beard. Yes, he does. But he's really the only, and Markwayne Mullin has a beard, but JD Vance is the only really prominent 2028 candidate for president in the United States of America with a beard. We have not elected a president with a beard since like 1860 or something like that or 1885, whatever it is. Went to Lincoln president. Right, exactly. Might have been a couple guys of mutton shops after him, but. What's your take on the beard? Should more guys have a beard or not have a beard? Okay, here's the thing. There are people on television, especially, I'm not going to name names, but that looks so good in the news with the beard. Name a name. I'm not gonna. Oh, come on. Is it Guy Benson? It's Guy Benson. Guy Benson looks so handsome with a beard. There might be a very tall man named Nate Foy. That's very good. It just might be. And if Nate Foy shaved, it would not be the same. Oh, no, no, no. For him, it would be fine. Okay, all right. Maybe that's not the best example. So it's not the beard that's doing it then. Gotcha. All right. But I'm just, I'm not, I'm not, yeah, my husband doesn't have a beard. Do you want him to grow one? Would you love him more if he did? Okay. If we're going to do it, we're going to do like a very, very short one, you know, like almost scruff looking. We're not like, I don't like, there's a lot of people. Like, I can't grow a beard or scruff. I am an Italian who cannot do facial hair. I have no chest hair. Yeah, you look good without the, I'm not hitting on you. Sorry, I just came off. Nobody thinks that. Well, I was just producing Jimmy's. I've known you for years and I've never thought that you were hitting on me ever. You know what? I produced Jimmy's show for three hours today. And you know. Yeah. And did you take your top off as a question on Foxx of Ross America? That's what we all want to know. I literally said. I was a guest on there listening to Jimmy tell you. not to take your top off when we did the Aaron Rogers segment. I know, I know. Something that I don't. But the entire Guy Benson audience wants to know, did producer Christine, end up. Nope. Nope. Nope. I was warned about this before. I've been here many years. And, you know, the last couple times I did it, that HR wasn't happy. So they just said, please stop. One and done. But I've been filling in for a guy for what, five or six years now on and off. I mean, I couldn't for a while because I had my own afternoon drive show and competed technically with the show. We don't do that anymore. So I'm free to do it again. We're do a whole week. week and August together. Yes. But I've never once at any point thought you were hitting on me. So why would that thought even cross your mind? You know, your mind gets all whacked out over there. Over there. Yeah. And now you feel like you need to say all these things in case HR is paying. Correct. Really like if Maria or John is really listening in. I mean, they're probably a coming. So. Yeah.

16:32

I just am trying to put it out there to make sure I don't get myself in any more trouble. But I do, I do like a scruff. I do not enjoy the men with the really long. Like a zizi top beard? Yeah, I don't like that. My buddy Jay has one of those. You don't like those. No. Joel is going to grow one out. He's going to grow one. I can't. Physically, I cannot grow a beard. It's going to take him years. The most I can get is a five o'clock shadow, which is what I'm sporting right now. That is it. Anything else looks like peach fuzz, and it's a disgrace of facial hair for me. What about Dylan? I've had a beard since I was 17 years old. I still currently have a beard. I have been, I have looked 25 since I was about 16. So, I mean, it's, it's aged me up, but I like it. I feel like it. It's kind of like a comfort. It's kind of like a comfort blanket, I suppose. Like, if I were to get rid of it, I might actually have a mental breakdown, a minty B. Why? Why are men so attached to their beards? I don't know. I just don't get. You know what, Dylan, I've never met you. So I really wouldn't know. That's true. Yeah. And at this rate, we never will. And you know, here's the other thing, too. In every superhero movie or action movie, what does the protagonist do at the start of the movie? Think about it, Christine. What does the hero do after he's been a little bit set back? Could you get me the definition of protagonist? Yeah, it's like the hero, the hero. So in all these movies, what happens? He shaves his beard. It's like, right? He gets back into it. Oh. The hero who was sidelined, kicked out of the military, whatever it is. That guy, the first thing he does when he's ready to get back on the horse and ride it, for whatever reason, is shave. I've never understood that because most of the heroes in these kind of, like Western military movies, have beards. But that's what they do. In fact, I remember Team America World Police, the movie that was done by the South Park guys. They actually had a joke, like a song in there about shaving, a montage. Like, first you got to shave before you can go save the world. So. Does that apply to women, too, if they have a beard? I hope they don't have a beard. They're working at a circus. You're Italian, you understand. Last thing I'll ask you is this, JD Vance, the beard helps, because if not, he'd have a big, fat baby face. Am I right? I agree. Yes, I do. And if I, he just needs, like, he's a really good-looking man. I'm not hitting on him. I think it's important. You clarify that. Thank you. Because Ushah was very, very jealous just that. I'm not hitting on him. But we got to work on the hair. He needs a better hairstyle and then like... To go with the beard. Hubba, hubba. My prediction, he shaves for the 2028 run. That's my prediction. Yeah, you heard it here first. I just dropped the ball. I just dropped the hammer on that. All right, we can see it. All right, thank you so much for joining us here on Guy Benson. It's been always fun to fill in and hang out with you. And I hope you have a great rest of your day and night and evening. It's Rich Zeoli. Host of the Rich Zeoli podcast. We can get that in every podcast platform. Thank you for listening. Yeah, you look good without the be. I'm not hitting on you. Sorry, I just came on. Nobody thinks that. They call this one Bill.

And now it's time for your favorite segment of the day. Home stretch. It's basically the only segment I'm on. So I've declared it the audience's favorite segment. Guy Benson. Well, there's no doubt. It is Christine's favorite segment of the day. And it's also my favorite segment of the day as well. I'm Pete Mundo in Kansas City filling in for Guy Benson on Guy Benson. And you may have heard, but maybe you haven't. Yes, Guy Benson and... Christine are coming to Kansas City here in just a few weeks for the second straight year. It's amazing, Christine. I love it. But I'll tell you what, a lot of people would not have taken the odds that we'd invite you back for a second straight year. I'm still in shock when guy called me up and said, hey, we're heading back to KCMO. I said, me too. He said, believe it or not, you too. Well, let's be honest. Everybody loved you. It was a great time. And last year, we did a Royals and it just so happened to be a Yankees game, which, of course, are you a Yankees fan or is that just guy? Huge Yankees guy. Okay. All right. So you're a Yankees fan. I'm a pathetic Mets fan, so I have no leg to stand on here. Gosh. Yes. It's very sad. Do you actually watch? No, you know, I bought. the MLB package because here in Kansas City, I can't watch the games, obviously. Right. And I have probably watched a total of seven innings of baseball this year. It's really bad. You probably should cancel that. Yeah. I already paid for it up front, though. You know what, Pete, I can't say much. I'm like a huge Jets fan, so I don't have anything to like a stand on. Here's the good thing. Instead of watching the USFL, which is basically what you have with the Jets, you will get to watch real NFL football because you and Guy are also going to be here on September 14th when the Chiefs kick off the season at Arrowhead Stadium and take on the Denver Broncos. So you, I promise, Christine, you are going to get the sports experience of a lifetime. Okay, but Pete. Can you just confirm something because guy would not confirm? I'm actually able to go in the stadium with you guys and sit next to you? Or am I in a parking lot somewhere? Well, that's up to you. You have a ticket. whether or not you make it into the stadium after the tailgate is going to be your decision. Well, I don't even understand, I was asking friends over the weekend. I've never been, I've only been to one football game with Guy and it was in San Francisco, so we did not do any tailgate and we were working before. What do you do? You open your trunk, get out of grill, put some music on, and drink and eat before you go drink and eat? Correct, yes, but it's a much better deal, right? I mean, that's part of the fun. And I'll tell you what. The San Francisco 49ers crowd, God bless them. That is a wine and cheese crowd. That is not what you have here in Kansas City. This is unlike any tailgate experience you will ever see. It is unlike anything you will ever experience. And I'm saying that as someone who, you know, I've been here eight and a half years now, but I had as a diehard sports fan never experienced anything like a Chief's Tailgate, Arrowhead Stadium, big Monday night football game.

23:49

I promise you, you are going to be in for a treat. I am so excited. And at what part of the game do you take me to go meet Taylor? Why are you laughing? You know, my wife and I, Kate, we were at a game last year. Maybe it was two years ago now. Gosh, dang, it might have been two years ago. We were at a game and we got in to a suite and she was two suites over. And we still have a video of Taylor at the game two suites down from her usual spot that she sits at. But it's amazing because she sits there in the suite. But, like, fans, they don't, but they theoretically could, like, reach their hand into her window and shake her hand. That's how close she is to just the regular people of Kansas City, which is a massive testament to her and what she's been all about since she started dating and now, of course, is married to Travis Kelsey. So you're saying the people of Kansas City are civilized and you want me to act the same way? Yes, that would be preferred. Now, I will tell you. If you think you're going to bum rush her suite, it will not happen. There are many security guards and police officers in the stadium outside of where she sits. So you will not be able to just sneak your way into the Taylor Swift seat. I promise you that's not going to happen. Okay. I understand what you're saying. And I will be respectful. But I'm just saying this. If there's one person that probably could get to that suite, it's going to be me. I don't deny that. And that's why I want to see you try it. Just have some bail money with you or maybe Guy can take care of that part because you might need it. Well, here's the problem. Obviously, you haven't heard home stretch in a while. Guy has repeatedly said that he will never bail me out. So don't ever make him. the one phone call, no matter what. So he's not the one phone call. No, you are. I am. Or should I, should we go with Vince? Yeah, I mean, Vince Colon-Ais is going to join us. McGraw-Millhaven, our night guy's going to be there. You know, I guess we can all pull together some money. Would Guy be in if we split it five ways, would chip in 20% for his own producer? Absolutely not. Joel, do you think he would bail me out with money? That's a hard no. A hard no. I mean, this has been spoken about, actually, sadly. Many, many times. Wow. Okay. I mean, I feel like I've heard it, but I didn't realize it was like steadfast, no doubt about it. Even if he's trying to potentially get to meet Taylor Swift through you? Because I think I would want to meet Taylor Swift. Of course he would. Okay. Of course he would. Yes. Yeah. Well, listen, I got to think about this a little more, but I am so excited for the event. And as Guy always says, if there's alcohol involved in a station event, cookie's going to be there. So it seems to be happening that way. But your event last year was so amazing. The audience.

26:42

They could not have been nicer. So lovely. It's very funny to see a lot of the wives wind up coming over to me being like, are you, Christine? Yeah. That's amazing. One of my favorite, favorite interactions ever was one of your listeners came up to me and said, come on, this whole home strategy, all your stories, your antics and everything. That's all put on, right? And I had to sadly tell him, no, that's just my life. Sadly or proudly tell them. That's what I want to know. Yeah, proudly. I think there's a little bit of pride in there. There should be pride in there. And, you know, you and I go way back. It was funny. I was talking to a few people around the building saying that you were hosting today. And they were like, oh, my gosh, he used to be here with us. I know. I knew you before you were cookie, all right? I know. It's hard for you to say cookie, right? That's why I say Christine. And I don't want to step out of line when I do that because people probably don't know who Christine is anymore on the show. But it's just, it's natural to me because you and I were working together 10, 11, 12 years ago now. Oh, gosh. That's a long time. Yeah, it will be 21 years in October. I've been here. That is amazing. Amazing. Well, we look forward to seeing you out in Kansas City, Christine. It is on September 16th. We'll be here in Kansas City. Tickets are on sale now. at KMO TalkRadio.com. We had 200 for sale, and there's like, as of this morning, there are 30 left. So if you want to join us in Kansas City, Christine, Guy Benson, Vince Collinace, myself, it is going to be a great time. Tickets are on sale at KCMO Talk Radio.com. Christine, thank you for having me. We'll do it again tomorrow. Looking forward to it. I'm Pete Mundo, in for Guy Benson on Guy Benson. Have a great day. But I'm just saying this. If there's one person that probably could get to that suite is going to be me.

28:42

And now it's time for your favorite segment of the day. Home Stretch. It's basically the only segment I'm on. So I've declared it the audience's favorite segment. Guy Benson. Headline here from USA today this week. People are going on cheap dates and they're calling it inflating. How the heck did we get here? Pete Mundo in Kansas City filling in for Guy Benson on Guy Benson. All right. So first off, I saw the story and I thought to myself, you know, I kind of love this. And then right before we got on the air. I heard from producer Christine, also known, of course, to this audience as Cookie, but since I've known her for 12 years now, I still go back to, you know, your real name. And I find out that you basically dumped a guy after a first date because he took you to Outback of all places. What a snob you used to be, Christine. Some may say I still am. Just maybe ask my husband. He would never take me to Outback. Oh, my God. Well, here's the thing. Do you have, before I want to get to the story. But Texas Roadhouse is like Outback on steroids. It is a much better version of Outback. And I didn't really go to it until we got here to Kansas City. And I kind of like looked down on it. Then I went and I was sold. Yeah, I don't even know what that is. I love Texas Roadhouse. It's so good. Do we even have those in Jersey? Yes, we do. You go to Texas Roadhouse? I've gone to it a few times, and it is incredible. Okay. Oh, okay. Well, wow, I can sense the snob in your voice, Christine. You're going to Texas Roadhouse and coming back and reporting to me if you don't mind. I mean, I wouldn't even, I can't even fathom Bobby and I even, okay. Let me not be so snobby here. But can I say something in my defense about that? Yes. In the tri-state area, we have so many great restaurants. So, like, chain restaurants are not... And maybe I'm wrong. Chain restaurants are not as a big of a deal or appealing. You know, like I'm not running off on a Friday night to go to Applebee's. I'm going to our local, like, you know, establishment that's like higher end. Your local Olive Garden, as you said, is one of your favorite restaurants. So, yeah, guy calls me. Dylan. Dylan. I'm sorry. You say Olive Garden is your favorite Italian place. You can't say that you don't eat at chain places. I don't. I've never been, I don't think I've been inside of Alvagan, but we have at work ordered it from time to time, and it's tasty. But, like, I'm not going there, you know, on a Saturday night for dinner. I'm just not. Like, Pete, you know what I'm talking about around this area. There's just so many great restaurants. I do. There are many great local restaurants. You're absolutely right. And Texas Roadhouse is for the kids. It's not really for date night. You go with the family. What is it?

31:25

It's a good time. You know what I think of, Texas toast? No, no, no, no. It's a better outback. You will get the best bang for your buck on a steak that you can find. And it's a pretty darn good steak. I'll just leave it at that. But I get your point. You want to support your local small business. And it doesn't have to necessarily be high end, though. That's where I'll disagree. It doesn't have to be a high end. It can be your local bar. It can be your local. Oh, I support them. I'm sure. I know you do. I know. I know that's part of what you do. I get it. I support them. Yes. You keep them in business from what I do. And listen, I mean, I love me a dive bar. So, you know, the dive year, the better. So you can't say I'm a total snob. So what happened, though, I mean, now that people are going on dates that are not high-end restaurants on the first date, which I like, I like the idea of that. What happened when you were 21 and you got taken to Outback on a first date? I definitely pulled the, I called my friend from the bathroom and was like, you need to call me right now and say like, I have to come meet you with an emergency. I'm like, I'm out, out back. And she's like, I'm on it. Oh, my gosh. What? You didn't even finish. You're acting like he took you to McDonald's or Taco Bell. What do you want to do, sit there and be like, I'll have the awesome blossom, mate. Like, no. You don't need an accent. Don't order it. Gosh, you are such a snob. Jeez. Hello there. Oh my gosh. Bobby is on. I don't know how he's made it. How many years now? Oh, boy, 15 years married. God bless him. God bless him. No, we all say that here. God bless. God bless Bobby. Oh, stop. You know what? The beer's ice cold at Outback. I'll tell you that right now. Well, like, okay, another thing, I'm not ordering a beer at a restaurant. Like, a beer, to me, okay, Pete, maybe I have to teach you everything. A beer is really just a facilitator for your shot. Do you understand? Oh, okay. I see how this goes. All right. So, like, that's another thing. Like, I'm not going to the outback and asking, how's your best cosmo, you know? Yes. So you're a drink snob, too. Well, you and Kate do have that in common. I'll say that much. Girls are very snobby, especially with their cocktails. Yes, that is absolutely true. Okay. So you just, so in this world now where people are kind of scaling back first dates and they're going to parks or meeting for coffee. Would that be okay on a first date, or are you saying, no, that first date's got to be a nice sit down, couple hundred dollar dinner, no doubt about it? It doesn't have to be, I guess, a couple hundred dollar, I guess. I mean, you have a couple drinks. You're 50 bucks in already. Yeah, I'm not strolling in a park with you. I'm just not, you know? Really? No, like that's cute after, like, you know, but no, I'm not going to go meet you in a park and so we can go get Dunkin' Donuts. I can do that with my friends. I'm good. I'm good.

34:18

Oh, my goodness. Okay. This is probably why it's best I'm married, and we all pray it stays that way. Please, Bob, please. Inflatating and deflation, not going to happen. All right. Joel or Dylan, I don't know if either of you guys are single, married, settled down, what the deal is there. But is this really a thing as far as you know? I mean, I've been married now, Pete, for a little over three years. And, I mean, inflating. I mean, it just sounds like. I mean, it just sounds like a first date. I mean, my first date with my wife, we went to Chipotle and went and saw a movie. Are you gagging at the fact that we had Chipotle together on a first date? Really, Dylan? I mean, come on. We went and saw a movie. It was cute. You know, we took her to the movies. Was she allowed to get a Coca-Cola and a popcorn? Oh, my gosh. We should too fall from the burrito you bought it. Well, I would say it's worked out pretty well, Christine, actually. And for your information, I took her to a place that has bistro in the title on our second date. and made homemade dessert for her on a picnic blanket out of the park afterwards. So we, I think I, I think I won. I won. Yes. Okay. All right. I mean, I would have skipped the burrito bowl, but sure, sure. Love was made at Chipotle. Joelle. Joelle, please tell me it was better. Well, because I wanted to set off a good impression on my now current fiancé of four months, I took her to an upscale Italian restaurant in Greenwich Village. Oh, there we go. Oh, I'm not gloating here. I'm not roasting Dylan. I'm just saying because I was so worried about making this good impression. But as we've pursued this relationship for now five and a half years, I thought... Okay, it would have been fine if we went somewhere simple, like a picnic or like even a coffee shop. It doesn't matter if you want to go all upscale. What matters is if the date is good or not, if the connection is there. Okay. That's right. We'll go with that. Okay. Well, you know, my, my, my meeting, my now wife of 12 years at this point. would kind of be in between all of you guys. I think Christine would like it. We met and were set up as a blind date for my fraternity formal at Villanova in 2008. So that's how it worked for us. So, you know, to your point, Christine, the party was on, drinks were flowing. It was a very good time. And it actually amazingly worked. How many of those blind date fraternity sorority events actually work in terms of like a happy marriage? But hey, 18 years later, here we are. Oh, I do love that. And I mean, your wife is wonderful. You hit the jackpot. You really did. I did. You're right. I mean, I'm going to get roasted for this, aren't I? Like, roasted. But I stand by everything I've said. That's fine. I will accept it. You got to stand for something, Pete. I know. You got to stand for something. Oh, my gosh. All right.

37:15

Before we get out of here, final couple of minutes, Dylan, listen, I heard a story this morning that you were attacked by a goose. And the crazy part is it was not the first time that you have been attacked by a goose. What are you doing to be on the receiving end of goose attacks? See, I'm living my life. And I mean, hashtag don't tread on me. These geese are like stepping in front of me and then attacking me. I mean, this morning I enjoy playing disc golf some mornings in the week. And so I was out at our local disc golf course. And there was a herd of geese in the middle of the fairway on the fourth hole. And I said, I mean, I probably could have made a better decision, but I said screw it and I threw my disc and it landed in the middle of the flock of geese. None of them moved. And so I had to wade through this flock of geese to pick up my disc for my approach shot. And there were quite a few gosslings in this herd. And I, I mean, there was a guy mowing the lawn on a riding mower, probably, I don't know, 30 yards away. And he got to witness me, like, sprint into the middle of this group of geese and then have probably seven or eight of them sprinting at me, hissing, you know, flapping their wings like they do. And I just. I didn't even play the rest of the hole because I was too embarrassed because I saw him over there mowing. So I just left. I just went. I like just skipped three holes so I didn't have to look at him anymore. But not the first time. So is that what we call the walk of shame in disc golf? I don't even know what disc golf is. But like, Dylan, I have another question for you. All these geese around and you just didn't duck. Oh, that's very good. I don't know. Well done. Should we go now? Well done. We're out of time. You guys are great. Have an awesome rest of the day. I'm Pete Mundo, in for Guy Benson on Guy Benson. I love me a dive bar. So, you know, the dive ear, the better.

39:18

And now it's time for your favorite segment of the day. Home Stretch. It's basically the only segment I'm on. So I've declared it the audience's favorite segment. Guy Benson. And I will never argue with executive producer Christine. Never, never, never. This is Guy Benson with Team Christine. That's Christine Dillon, Joelle, and yours truly Harry Hurley filling in today for Guy Benson. Now, what a topic. A $100 hot dog. And before you scoff at that, which it does sound ridiculous on its face, when you learn what's in it, there's a lot of value within this 100 hour hot dog. It still sounds ridiculous to me, Christine, your thoughts. Well. I can't, I mean, it's obviously some sort of novelty. I can't imagine most people paying that amount of money. Let me guess, though. Is there caviar on this hot dog? Yes, there is. Yes. Is there gold flakes on this hot? Oh, I'm just making this up. You are so on point. Is there some crem fresh on this hot dog? There is. Am I missing anything? You have done your show prep. No, I think you've got it covered. It's just, why would you waste that to put it on a hot dog? Like if you're going to have caviar, you know, like have caviar, I don't understand why we would spend all this money other than just like it's fun to say, hey, I spent it. It's actually embarrassing to say, hey, I paid $100 for a hot dog. It is the $100 golden glizzy. The caviar dog, a lot of names for it. You know, you think about hot dogs. I think about baseball games. And a hot dog seems to taste the best at a baseball game. And there's just something about that. Now, we know the things have gotten even expensive at professional sporting games, but my goodness, a hundred-hour hot dog. Now, I will say this. I would not pay... for this 100-hour hot dog. Christine, would you? Absolutely not. Dylan, would you? I mean, I wouldn't, but I mean, I'm surprised Christine. I mean, Christine loves hot dogs. She's been known to flout around Times Square in a hot dog costume for fun. Oh, Dylan, okay. Hold on a second. Oh, okay. I see what's going on here. It took me a second to catch up. Harry, I'm going to explain to you what's going on here. Yeah, you're getting picked on. As... You know, I was over producing Jimmy Phelis show this afternoon. So Dylan had taken it, you know, he was taking over the rundown for our show and he was picking the home stretch topics. Now I see what we did. He literally found an article just to bring the words hot dog onto home stretch so then he could jump in because he knew you're going to go to him and he was going to just.

42:24

randomly tell you that I dressed up as a hot dog. Now, Harry, it is a true story, but I may have to explain some things to you. Please. I lost a bet. Oh, I remember this. The guy, correct? No, this was my old radio show, the John Gibson radio show. Okay, yeah, yeah, I knew John. And... If you remember back in the day, Anthony Wiener was, I think, thinking, or did he run for mayor? He did run. He did run. Okay. So this was a long time ago. And I had made a bet to John saying that I believe Anthony Wiener was going to be our mayor. And he said, okay, if you're wrong, which of course you are. You will dress up as a hot dog and you will go into Times Square. What a bet. And you will buy hot dogs and then you will ask anybody if they want your wiener. Oh, my gosh. Now, I took the bet because obviously we know here I always take the bet. Yep. And I lost. Christine, I have to say there was a point in time where Weiner was in the race. Weiner was the leading Democrat candidate, which meant he was the leading candidate also to win the general election. And there was a moment in time where you had a shot. And this was after all of his, you know, photos and all that embarrassment. Yes, yes. of Anthony Wiener's pictures. I'll just leave it at that. Which, do you know right now, we were talking about this on a Jimmy's show because, like, what constitutes as something where a candidate would have to drop out or would be a disgrace? I honestly think now, if that happened to him, it would not be that big of a deal. No. No, just like who's the guy, he was a comedian, Al Franken. Al Franken would not have had to leave for what he did. But then when people were getting canceled and it was really sensitive and he just, he had no chance. See, he was gone. He would be still here today. I totally agree with that point. And even with that scandal, until they really worked him over during the campaign, he was leading the race to be governor, to be the mayor of New York City. You had a real legitimate shot of pulling that out. He was in it and he was leading. Well, he lost, Harry. He did. And you had to wear the suit. And I, it was the most. Now, I got to know, because I know you, you know, you are a very strong woman. You're a leader. You're a classy, elegant lady. Pillar of the community, Harry. Yes, respected. Everywhere. I mean, and here you are in this wiener suit. Correct. Were you totally mortified? Yeah, because I had to put it on. while we were on air in the radio studio. And then I had to get into the elevator and go down to the lobby. And it just so happens. I wound up on the elevator with a very, very high up person at Fox News. I'm talking like the suits, you know, like pretty really high up. Like the worst luck you could have. Completely. And I looked at him and I go, hey, you know, I lost a vet. Isn't this funny? And he looked at me, I swear, hand to God, he looked at me and he goes, I don't do hot dogs.

45:45

I wanted to die. You wanted to melt? I wanted to melt. But I did it. I'm a big girl. I made a bet. And I went out to the middle of Times Square. I took some pictures with people. Yeah. Yeah. So. Don't let Dylan fool you. He tricked you just to make fun of me, Harry. Do you feel used at this point? I feel, I don't feel abused. I feel slightly deceived, but I have to say in a delicious funny way. But am I wrong, Dylan? Exactly. I saw, I was looking at home stretch topics today and I just saw the word, I saw the word hot dog in an article and I was like, you know what? This is a perfect segue for me to throw this story back on air. It really took me a second, Dylan. It's funny, you probably heard the wheels in motion on air and live. I did, as I usually do. I heard the wheels. I heard the gears. They got a little WD40, and they started to turn. We got there eventually. Yeah, I did. Hey, Dylan. Dylan, you want to play Truth or Dare with the guest host? Sure. All right. Here we go. If you were staying for six years or 60 years and not six days, would you have done this to the executive producer? Oh, a thousand percent. Oh, yeah. I could have answered that. Love, love, love it. And I'm just kidding, too. Oh, that's so good. We're off the rails, officially off the rails, because this is not a serious topic, but it does qualify as happy, happy hour. It is the home stretch. We do have a hundred-hour hot dog, but I do have to ask Joelle. Joel, would you pay $100 for the golden glizzy? Harry, listen, my man, I know times are tough in his economy right now, but $100 for a golden glizzy ain't it. It's a no. We have a unanimous four-for-four-four that we would not be customers for the $100-hour golden glizzy. Christine, because of the abuse that you took during the segment. I want to take back my vote. Oh, you would buy it now? No, I don't want anything to do with it now. Now I'm angry. You're going to abstain. Yeah. I'm annoyed. Thank God it's Friday. I mean, normally I don't do this, Harry, but it's been a day, and I might just have myself a cocktail. I know. It's a little crazy of me. So the official vote for Team Christine is three, nay. No one voted yes and one extension. One, not angry, but one disgusted. abstention. Yes. Can we go home now? We can go home now. You're the boss. It is the end of the show. Thank you for listening. And Christine, thank you for having me. This is Guy Benson. Hand to God, he looked at me and he goes, I don't do hot dogs. That was this week's edition of Bonus Guy Benson.
