This is Gary and Shannon, and you're listening to KFI AM 640, the Gary and Shannon Show on demand on the IHeart Radio app. Let's see. Did we get anybody today? What do you mean? Did we get anybody today? No, again. Do you have a trap set somewhere? Oh, I see. Your car. It's just somebody who's parked next to me. That's not, that's what the video shows. Now you're parked in the same spot where you got the letter yesterday telling you if you're lazy enough to park in this spot, this visitor spot and lie about it. What else are you lazy enough to do and lie about that as well? Something like that is what the note said. Yeah. It was very personal. Very personal. And I'm the only one who got it. Hence the personal part of it. And you're kind of the only person who would be offended being called lazy. Like you called me or Mark Ron or lazy. We're like, whatever. Well, I've, you call Gary lazy and you take it as a personal affront probably. I mean, Mark, would you care? Somebody called you lazy? It's the first line on my resume. I'm proud of being lazy. Yeah, exactly. Capital, L. No, capital takes too much energy. Lowercase L. Like, they called the one person who cares lazy. Yeah, I am. It was hurtful, really. I mean, here's the other part about it. I love practical jokes. If it's a practical joke, it was a swing and a miss. It just didn't make it. It doesn't make sense. It was a miss. We've spent about three hours talking about it. But is that the joke? Is that the funny part about it? It's like, I don't know. Hey, Gary and Shannon. You know, Shannon, as much fun as it is to rail on Gary for parking, like a D, didn't you? Park your truck into the back of another car on the way to Huntington Beach News and Brews. Oh. Just so the shots are equal. Just so the shots are equal. Love the show. Love you guys. Listen, we're not engaging in what aboutism on this show. What else is going on? Time for what's happening. Saudi Arabia has drawn two of the Muslim world's most formidable military powers into its defense. As the Iran War moves closer to Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Turkey have signed a NATO-style mutual defense pact with Saudi Arabia. I don't know why, but I've done that for 500 years and I can't stop. Saudi? Yeah, they signed that today. We'll get into what all this means coming up in Swamp Watch. There was a bomb threat this morning from what they described as an extremist group against... The Huntington Hospital in Pasadena this morning. Before 6 o'clock, it was called in. K-9, police, firefighters, everybody responded and worked to clear the building. They were given a... God bless you. They were given it all clear a couple years, a couple hours later, sorry.

6:32

A wildfire last night in the Santa Clarita area. This was in the hills above Santa Clarita. Happened about 10 p.m. late for a fire around Newhall Avenue, Needham Ranch Parkway. Oh, fire knows no time, though, does it? No, it doesn't. That was beautiful. It was poetic even. Fire knows no time. Fire is not lazy. Fire does not have, no, fire would not park in the visitor's spot, would it? A billionaire real estate developer and former candidate for Governor Stephen Klubeck is facing felony witness tampering and misdemeanor harassment charges. His fiancé, social media influencer named Advalavi. Or Mia Ventura, if you met her online and she robbed you. Depending. She stole cash, luxury watches, designer items from wealthy men. She met on dating apps. You know, we were introduced to this guy when he was running for governor. And my gut said run for the hills. And this is just a mess. He also gave some sort of comfort to... Eric Swalwell at some point, too. Eric Swalwell lived in his house after he was accused of the rape stuff. Yeah. In this case, they say Kleubeck is accused of using force or the threat of violence to dissuade witnesses. Also, misdemeanor charge for making annoying phone calls to one of the attorneys in the case. Big Bear Bald Eagle Jackie has gone into advanced testing for this mystery illness. This is not good. Her packed cell volume drop below 13%, which indicates her anemia has regressed. It's not looking good. We should all just kind of wrap our hearts and our heads around that. She is recovering well from the anesthesia, receiving extra oxygen and supportive care as they wait for more critical lab results. Their ultimate goal is to restore Jackie's health and release her back alongside her mate's shadow. Now, Shadow has a new woman eagle in the nest. And we don't know what's going on with that. But the friends of Bing Bear people are very adamant that we all stop talking about her as Jolene or Miss Flusi or whatever names the internet has given her. That that's not what this is. They're very protective. I don't know what it is. Is it like a family values thing? They're protective over Jackie and Shadow and like Shadow wouldn't do that or stop talking about this. It's distasteful. It's that we're soap operaizing everything. Yeah, but that's not how they work. You don't think he's going to be banging that eagle by the end of the week? I do think he is. Yeah, that's how they work. But that it's not because they're animals. Yeah, it's not because he's a bad person. No, or that she's a hooker. He has bad morals. Not that Jolene was a hooker. I think she was probably a really nice lady.

9:29

Now let's discuss what Jolene was. Second rupture on the same water line. The ruptured in the Hollywood Hills, the left residence without water again today. LADWP said they repaired the initial break and then a second leak occurred on that same 12-inch pipe. But that is nothing compared to what's going on in Puerto Rico. Hundreds of thousands of people in and around San Juan, Puerto Rico. are without running water today. They have done a massive water rationing program that starts today where they will turn off water for about 48 hours at a time to certain areas of San Juan Puerto Rico. San Juan had a huge pipe break at one point in June. And then they said July was also the driest month and more than 120 years, the second hottest on record. So they're having severe drought and their water system has been pushed to the limit. On top of the fact, they're having a massive power problems. They can't keep the lights on there either. There was a school shooting in Thailand. At least seven people killed more than a dozen injured police have identified the suspect as a 14-year-old student. Three students and three teachers were killed. This was in the outskirts of Bangkok. And that's really all we know at this point. But the shooter that they think is 14 years old killed himself following the shooting. Had more than 30 rounds when he died. So I guess it could have been worse, unfortunately. Awful thing to say. You're listening to Gary and Shannon on demand from KFI AM 640. This episode sponsored by She's Birdie. Every woman knows that feeling, and She's Birdie knows it too. The just-in-case feeling. And when I'm not kissing babies, I'm stealing their lollipops. Here we go. The real problem is that our leaders are dumb. The other side never quits. What are you doing in my swamp? I'm not going anywhere. So dumb. That is how you drain the swan. I can imagine what can be and be unburdened by what has been. You know? Americans have always been governed. Act presidential. But they're not stupid. A political blunder is when a politician actually tells the truth. Whether people voted for you were nice.

12:40

The president is trying a new move in an interview release today. A new move where he's distancing himself from Republicans before the midterms. I saw the headline on this. They were asking him about affordability concerns, the fact that you can't go to the market without getting bankrupt, the war in Iran, the fact that these two could team up to maybe see the Democrats flip the House and maybe even the Senate. And he said in this interview today that just aired, they're angry at Republicans, but they're not angry at me. It's one way to look at it, I guess. He was talking about the GOP facing these potential heavy losses this November. And the administration's guidance on campaign trail messaging has been tone deaf, according to fears from House Republicans. The president's approval rating has tumbled. Even his biggest supporters, they're claiming, have grown frustrated over what's going on with Iran. And that's why you're seeing this weird Tucker Carlson arm get traction. Yeah. Speaking of Iran, the president did say in an event yesterday that he expects there to be some sort of an agreement soon, that he has been personally involved in the discussions about what to do with the Strait of Hormuz. Now, Iran has said they've been talking with Oman. the country that is directly across the strait from them and trying to figure out some sort of a traffic pattern, for lack of a better term, and fees that would be imposed upon ships in and out of the Strait of Hormuz. There was also, at least in the Iranian parliament, a plan to restrict any American or Israeli... ships from the Strait of Hormuz. So this is what the president said yesterday. Well, I don't want to say it has been. It's sort of open right now. You know, we have a thing called the blockade headed up by the U.S. Navy, and we control it. And now we control it, but they can overshoot something. But I think we're doing very well. I just, you know, I'm involved in the negotiation. I think we're doing fine. It could be, it could be said. Secretary of former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo. was asked today on one of the news shows about, okay, we keep hearing that there is discussion going on, that Iran wants to talk and that we're trying. The reason why we haven't bombed them into 1914 is because... were waiting to get some deal done. And Mike Pompeo's question was, well, who are they talking to? I think one of the challenges that President Trump and the other negotiators have faced all along is that we talk about negotiating with the Iranians, and there's no such thing, right? This is not a unitary entity. And when you talk to the United States, you're speaking to the U.S., when you're talking to the Iranians, there are multiple groups, each with their own agendas, all of which want death of Israel and the destruction of the United States.

15:33

So I don't know who he might be speaking with. You can see these comments come from the foreign ministry. You should just ignore them. They're meaningless. The only individuals that can control the outcome here is the IRGC, and I've seen no evidence that the IRGC is prepared to give up their pathway to a nuclear weapon. Also in D.C. today, Senator Bill Cassidy out of Louisiana, has said that he will vote for Todd Blanche to be the next attorney general. He kind of said all along that this was going to happen, despite all the political theater. Two other Republican senators said they would oppose him. He lost his reelection bid to a Trump-back challenger, said in a speech on the Senate floor that he had deep concerns about the lawfare. phrase he uses to refer to the Justice Department's targeting of the president's political enemies. But he said, basically, after much consideration, this guy isn't as bad as it could be. Yeah. And he was emotional when he was explaining this on the floor of the Senate today. This is not a referendum on President Trump. It is a decision regarding Mr. Todd Blanche in very specific circumstances. All considered, I will vote for Mr. Todd Blanche. I'll be criticized for this vote. What's new?

16:54

But it looked like when I was watching this this morning, like he was holding back tears at this point. People of Louisiana can be assured that I worked hard to understand the issue and to make the right decision. He was also the one credited with the deciding vote making Robert F. Kennedy Jr.. the head of Health and Human Services. The president issued some new executive orders aimed at birthright citizenship in order to try to get that back in the game. We're making adjustments because it's very unfair. This was done for a different reason. This was done right after the Civil War. This was for the babies of slaves. And what's happening now, people are building businesses around it from wealthy people are building businesses around birthright citizenship. That's not the way it was supposed to work. It's a disgrace. They're buying their way in. And we're not going to let it happen. So there's two, like I said, two executive orders. One of them would target people who engage in what he referred to as the commercial birth tourism. We've seen that here in Southern California quite a bit. and deny them access to the country. The other executive order works would expand the definition of someone that would be ineligible for birthright citizenship, which would be someone the child of a foreign citizen who would lobby on behalf of a foreign government. Obviously somebody whose parents were listed as belonging to terrorist groups. Children of foreign government employees, children who are born in the U.S. territory where citizenship is not conferred by federal statute and on and on and on. It seems like this would go to the Supreme Court again for, I don't know if you'd say clarification or if it would simply be shot down before it even gets to that point. So we'll see. How are we going to do all of these nuggets? Feels like we have extra nuggets. We do. I paired them down. Oh, you did? Yeah. All right. Don't worry. Everything's under control. I've been at the controllers here of the plane. Well, you've been parking illegally in the back. That's not terrifying. Hi, Shannon and Old Yeller. I just wanted to give you my take on this note. Yes. I don't think it was personal. I think this person literally... sat down, designed in this flyer, super proud of it, and made multiple copies and has a stack of them in their car and passes it out whenever they're having a bad day, which is probably often because they probably have no life, no sense of fashion, no friends, and they're probably very unattractive. Oh, wow. Yeah. Well, when we get the video, we'll be able to see. She has a point. It's more about the person that... leaves that note and it is about the receiver of the note. Like, I feel like we should take them out for lunch or something. Maybe, you know, bring them flowers. Something to give them an attitude of gratitude as opposed to targeting people for parking. Right? Yes.

20:04

Like, go enjoy the sunshine. Go outside of the garage and hear the beautiful birds. Maybe Nicodemus the owl is out there today. Could you imagine? There's beautiful flowers out there. Go enjoy those. Go take your shoes off and walk in the Burbank Nature Park over there. Go down to Star Garden. Get yourself a nice noontime lap dance. You know, enjoy yourself. That does not sound. I know you might think that that does not sound good. Maybe Fridays. But you don't know who we're talking about. You know, this person might enjoy that. That's true. Slopier, the better. Mark Warner perked up. Well, who wouldn't? See? Just toss that out there like that. News nuggets. Who doesn't need a lunchtime lap dance? Exactly. From Star Gardens. Please. Listen, if they have to give coupons out, that's not that good. Close your eyes. You're listening to Gary and Shannon on demand from KFI AM 640. Do you hear about the man charged with attempted murder in the lobster diving incident? Lobby Joe? No. Oh. I don't think Lobby Joe's still with us, Gary. You don't know that. Well, that was a lobster that was rescued from a grocery store about eight years ago. I don't know what the... Life expectancy of a lobster is? In the wild? Could you imagine? No. 200 years. This is a 51-year-old man's accused of turning off the air supply of a teenage lobster diver because he was also diving for lobsters and was greedy. He says it's just a devastating story and it's untrue. Guy's a former Florida boating safety task force member. I was being crazy. But apparently not that crazy. How long did they last? In the wild. Large American lobsters can live over 100 years with some specimens estimated to be as old as 140. Holy hell, I'm going to stop eating lobster. That's some old ass meat. The usual lifespan. Not that I eat lobster. Average lifespan is much shorter. The average is somewhere around 30 for males, 50 for females. And a grocery store lobster is nowhere near that old. The grocery store lobster is only about five years old. Uh, that's still some old ass meat. It does sound old. A big mountain lion, by the way, found in a San Demas neighborhood today, uh, spotted right near northern San Demas in the shade beneath some trees along foothill Boulevard, walnut out of the circle K. Not at the circle K. Was that a dumb old joke? I don't get it. Okay, good. It's time for the nine news nuggets you need to know. These are stories that fell through the cracks of the news couch. They're like little crumbs of hot, fiery Cheetos. And we like to search for them. And then why is your face doing that? Because I'm like visioning, eating a nasty Cheeto that I found in the couch cushion. You've done it before. I'm not saying I haven't. That's why I'm making the face. I know what it's like. I know. Those are the good old days. Here's your honorable mention. Honorable mention.

23:13

supposed to mention. I'm going to mention it when the time was right. There's never a policy not to mention it. It's been an honor serving with you all. Didn't I mention it? What an honor it is. Great and honorable Moses. So today we're holding auditions to become the newest member of honorable mention. Bill and Ted's excellent adventure was the reference of the Circle K and San Demas. Oh, okay. Because I couldn't let a 1991-ish reference go without an explanation. I don't have picked that apple. A man admitted using motor oil and detergent to kill his neighbor's fish because he was driven completely insane by the noise of a water pump in the pond. 76-year-old Jerry Duffy of Hadley Road, North London. Pleaded guilty on the day of his trial. Three counts of damaging property, one count of unlawfully destroying fish. Did you know that's a law in England? Unlawfully destroying fish. Yeah, crimes against animals while are esoteric in the codes, they do exist. I think that's exactly what Jerry Duffy sounds like, by the way. I think you nailed it. The attorney says the man has been completely driven insane by this noise. He's spoken to the complainant several times. Well, when you're trying to sleep and you can't because of a noise like that. Of the water. A water pump in a pond? It can drive you a little crazy, I think. Don't you hear like neighbors air conditioners and stuff like that all the time? I mean, fish die every day too, right? There is that. They do die. Here's number nine. Number nine. I did nine plays. If a cop's dirty, nine times out of tennis partners, 32. And I speak nine languages. I stay up till nine o'clock. Basically everybody at table nine. I feel ready to go another nine in. Nineer. Did I catch a nineer in there? Were you calling for my walkie-talkie? I love this story at Broward County. Is that Florida? Hey, Florida. Hey, girl. How you doing? Looking good. This is a great story. A guy who works at Planet Fitness and Coconut Creek stole a customer's credit card. Remember, this is a guy who works at a gym. Stole the credit card. What did he buy? A workout gear. No. Barbecue and beer. Oh. Now that is a true American. That's a good workout. I see your workout credit card. And I raise you some real food and some suds. $28 purchase at Barbecue Boutique located in the same shopping plaza. That's too bad. That's too bad. It's too bad. He got caught. It's too bad he got caught. Right. Because he was wearing his orange Planet Fitness shirt. Oh, was he? At the time that he did it. Oh, you got to take off your shirt to go eat barbecue. Yeah, you hear that? You hear of that, Elmer? Take that shirt off. You're going to get some barbecue today. You go to Bill Gates' barbecue. You know, if you didn't learn from Ted Lassow, episode four, season one. You go to Bill Gates' barbecue. You got to take off your shirt. I'm cool with that. Here's another. It would be great. If you could make a figure eight. A child is bold every eight seconds. Listening to eight different bosses drone on about mission statements. Amazing.

26:34

Are you going to stop parking there, do you think? No. Are you sure? Walk down there today. I'll show you where I parked. I know where you parked. I clocked your car when I came in. I saw where it was. Did you see? Was there a note on it? Not yet. A 45-year-old guide up in Portland is accused of shooting and killing another man in southeast Portland. He has offered an unusual line of defense. It wasn't the bullets that killed him in his torso. It was the overdose. That's the problem when you kill someone and you claim overdose. The problem being the bullets. You got to do it a different way if you're going to claim that somebody OD'd. Could you strangle them all he's ODing? No, because you'd leave marks. Smother. Smother? Smother would work. I don't know. I don't bring a smothering pillow with me, but I guess maybe I should keep one. That may have been how Marilyn Monroe was killed. They said that the medical examiner's office found that the man died from a bullet that pierced his aorta. That'll do it. That'll do it. Not the overdose. Number seven. The seventh son of the seventh son. We're on for seven days. With the government, sector seven. Five seven, seven a.m. Seven years of college down the drain. Seven, seven, seven days. Well, this is embarrassing. You go to the beach there in Ruskin, Florida, and dressed in your finest Superman beach cover-up. I have one. And you get popped by the cops. You ever put on your Superman-themed beach cover-up and steal from people, though? I bet you haven't. Other than parking spots that you steal. Usually when I dress up as Superman, I try to act like Superman. Now, walk me through your Superman get up. Well, if you know this... How do we say this? He wears briefs over the tights. I'm not a tights guy. Ah, so you just wear the speedo. Are all your costumes just that speedo for the most part? Aquaman. Right. Also briefs over the tights. Got it. Batman, Robin. I mean, I feel like it's pretty clear. Okay. This guy got popped for stealing stuff from a boat and several power tools as well in his Superman outfit. Which, by the way, he wouldn't need if he was Superman. That's true. Good point. Here's number six. I got six, you got six, she got six. Number six. Dude, there's six more weeks a winner. What if a picture of me, a rabbi, and six drunk and longshore money? Why don't we just stick her in a nursing home closer to us, so I don't have to drive six hours? Drink another six pack. Number six. Welcome to Florida once again. JetBlue employees discovered a man in a plain bathroom in Fort Lauderdale.

29:21

The plane had been parked at an airport facility that's operated by a company that does maintenance. One of the rear doors was left open. Portable stairs were left placed against the aircraft to allow access for, you know, people to go fix the plane. And in this case, this man, Samuel Prescott Lackey. What a great Southern name. That's pretty good. Mr. Lackey, you'll see, entered the stern of that airplane and found a nice comfortable spot and took a... took a took himself to the bathroom as they say He wasn't supposed to be there, though. He was not supposed to be recreated in the Quarto de Bano. Also, Broward County. Huh. Hey, reminder that your official home for Dodger baseball AM 570 LA Sports this afternoon, the back-to-back champion Dodgers take on the Diamondbacks in Arizona. First pitch 640. Listen on AM570 LA Sports. Brought to you by Sapporo. Great moment. Start with Sapporo beer. Good with sushi. Great with baseball. More nuggets when we come back. You're listening to Gary and Shannon on demand from KFI AM 640. Here is number five. For five minutes. I have five rules. We begin bombing in five minutes. Five little monkeys. This is the year five point five. I'm leaning on type five for anaheim. Give me a favor and lose five pounds immediately. Sometimes you get cold feet before the wedding. A woman was arrested and accused of setting fire to a house of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Caysville. Where's Caysville? Salt Lake, Utah. Oh, shocking. In Caysville, Utah this month, she was setting up her own wedding when she just burned the place down. How? She was, she's 25, and she stole a lighter. And she used a tampon to start the fire under a chair inside the house the night before she was set to be married there. There's a lot going on in that. There's a lot of ways to get out of a wedding. But the pressure is so strong. Like it's so true. The pressure is so strong. How many people do you know that like leading up to their wedding they were going, ah? But the balls all, once that ball gets rolling, man, it's a snowball. And it just picks up snow and more snow and mothers are involved. And it's a freaking beast. You can't pull the plug on that snowball. There's mothers stuck in there. That's, you know, that's Chevy Chase on one of those metal discs sliding down the mountain. You can't stop it. So I get where she was driven to start the fire. Here's number four. One minute. He's probably on his fourth tranquilizer by now. Commandment number four. There goes the Fourth Amendment. This isn't the same world you left for years ago. You know, we've been doing these news nuggets for years, right? I find the older I get, the more I side with the people in the nuggets. That's how it happens.

32:26

You've been broken down so much. In Lexington, Kentucky, a woman's been arrested after an alleged incident. She pointed a gun at an employee at a KFC. She became angry about how long it was taking to get her order in the drive-through line. Here's the thing. She exchanged words with staff and then drove around. parked, gets out and removes the AR-15. Yeah. When you're hungry and you're at a KFC, that's a distinctive hunger that you have in your belly. And if it's not met in a timely fashion and you have an AR-15 in the car, I can see this leading to that. They used to make a sandwich there. Oh, I'm so glad you bring up something of the past because whenever we talk about KFC, I remember the cup of popcorn chicken used to get. Now, popcorn chicken wasn't really chicken. It was just the fried skin, essentially, that they called popcorn chicken. So you're just essentially eating fried skin, a whole bucket of it. And my God, it was delicious. Yeah, I agree. What was the sandwich? Is it the 99 cent one? Yeah, the little one, right? It was a slider almost. It was called like a clucker. I'm not mistaken. Something like that. All it had on it was man. Yes, sir. And man, what a... What more do you really need to do? Speaking of chicken, here's number three. Three shall be the number thou shalt count. And the number of the counting shall be three. They were dead within three hours. Three. Security clearance level three. All three of you. I got all three you guys. The rest of your natural born lives. After about three days, they both start to stink. Three. Sometimes things can go sideways when you're creating content, Matt. A content creator who filmed himself cooking poultry outdoors at a chicken theme park had the event shut down because the chicken was undercooked. He was setting up an attraction that saw dozens of chickens being cooked while strapped into mini theme park rides. That's good content. It was called the chicken amusement park. That's good content. Like a little chicken strapped to a ferris wheel. And being cooked at the same time. Yeah. Here's number two. What's going on, you two? Pick our two fingers. One, two. There are two people. There's two sons and no women. Two ringing, dingy. Yeah, this is a couple of things you never want to hear when you're on a Zoom meeting, Microsoft Teams. One of them is you're muted, you're on mute. I think you're on mute. Or can you meet yourself? Why don't you go ahead and mute yourself? The other one is, I can see your body. Yeah. This woman in New Zealand was in a meeting at the Dunedin City Council. The mayor points to the city council member. You might want to move your camera. We can see you washing. Yes. She was in the bathroom. I don't know if she was actually using it for its intended purposes, but she was in the bathroom, and that was unbecoming. One of my girlfriends sent me a meme the other day, and I thought of you. It was like, should I take this team call or should I just jump directly off the roof? I immediately saw you in my mind. So she immediately grabs a gun and goes downstairs and confronts the guy, later identified as a 30-year-old named Jeffrey Bartamus. My only problem with Jeffrey is he helped himself to vodka and then the tequila. And Jeffrey, that is a bad move, bro. You got to pick one. You can't do both. Especially not right in the morning. You got to pick one. Are these good Svedka vodka? Yeah. And Milagro tequila? Yeah, those are good, I think. Okay. Yeah. It's got some taste. It did not get shot. It's like super cheap. Oh, it is? Yeah. I mean, vodka's vodka. That doesn't mean it's bad. No, it's good. I put down some spedca. I'm not classy. Monks and Merrill up next. It was like 25 bucks a bottle, right? I mean, it's not like pop off. No, I feel like it's less. Is it a plastic bottle or a glass bottle? That's, to me, that's the decider. It's a glass bottle. This is KFI.
