Authorities say Violet was crossing the street to visit a friend and is now in a medically induced coma. She had swelling in her brain. They were able to stop the bleeding as of yesterday. They did have to take a part of her.

The nation's salmonella outbreak slowly growing, and it's tied specifically to recalled jalapinos from Mexico, distributed to restaurants. The center of this investigation is around jalapinos at restaurants like Chipotle and Kudoba. So far, there have been at least 340 documented illnesses, more than 30 hospitalizations, and at least 27 states. Now, investigators are working hard to try to trace back exactly where this came from. And as you can imagine, that is requiring a lot of work as we see these numbers continue to roll in. ABC's Dr. Daryan Sutton. Colorado is on the list of states involved in this salmonella outbreak. The Common Sense Institute says Coloradoans could be foregoing a large chunk of money set aside for Tabor refunds if Prop NN passes. Over the next two years, the cut could be $850 million. The Common Sense Institute says taper refund reductions could lead to cuts in jobs and reduced GDP spending. CSI's DJ Summers says their data shows mixtures. when school spending goes up. Since 2013, real school district spending per pupil has risen 21%. But test scores have fallen at benchmark elementary school, middle school, and high school grade levels. He says voters will have to weigh whether more school spending is worthwhile in exchange for a permanent change to the Tabor cap. Rob Dawson, K-O-A. A new report finds Colorado is losing its homegrown workforce talents. The Strata Education Foundation study found Colorado ranked highest in the nation with 45% of college-educated workforce coming from other states, but on the other side of the spectrum for keeping local talents. Only about a third, 36% of the college-educated workers in Colorado graduated from both high school and college in the state. Managing research director Dr. Peter Barr says the state's public four-year colleges and universities. Universities are critical to keeping a homegrown college-educated workforce. Americans need to earn around $110,000 to comfortably afford a typical home for sale in the U.S. That, according to a new Redfin report that looked at the annual income, a household would need to purchase a medium-priced home, the necessary $110,000 income is just 0.5% lower than last year's record amount, while Redfin estimates that the median use... U.S. households earned nearly $88,000 in June up 4% from a year ago. Affordability has improved in 24 of the 46 major metro areas that Redfin analyzed. There are questions about whether the U.S. war with Iran is depleting its stockpile missiles. There have been some public estimates that maybe the U.S. had about maybe 2,500 Patriot missiles at the start of this conflict with Iran. We have heard from at least one U.S. official who says that the U.S. has gone through at least two-thirds of that.

The Westminster Store will serve as the company's new megastore, and the Westminster City Council already approved the first reading of an economic development agreement for the adaptive reuse of the building. And if approved at the second reading on August 10th, the store will receive more than $3.7 million in rebates from the taxes and fees it paid to get the store up and running. The nation's salmonella outbreak tied specifically to recalled jalapenos has grown to 345 cases in 27 states and 36 hospitalized. The fresh jalapenos from Mexico have been distributed to restaurants, including Chipotle and Kudoba. Here's ABC's Dr. Darian Sutton. So salmonella is a bacterial infection. It most often comes from contaminated food, foodborne illnesses. It's actually one of the most common foodborne illnesses. And the symptoms typically can start either six hours to up to six days after you've eaten that. food, and they can last from four to seven days. Colorado is on the list of states involved in this salmonella outbreak. The Common Sense Institute says Coloradoans could forego up to $850 million in taper refunds over the next two years if Proposition NN passes in November. Those in favor of NN say it'll allow the states to keep more dollars for education, but CSIs... DJ Summer says the latest report says fewer Tabor refunds could be enough to affect the economy. Money that would have flowed through the economy in a certain way no longer would. And the jobs that would have been created through that spend won't be there anymore. Yes, for Colorado kids says while they don't fully know the report's validity, they know the best economic investment people can make is in kids and the future workforce. Colorado's popular e-bike rebates returning later this month. The initial program helped nearly 8,000 Coloradoans save almost $10 million on e-bike purchases from 2023 to 25. The Colorado Energy Office says they now have another $3 million for e-bike rebates over the next year to help about 2,800 people. Rebates will be available to those with a household income at or below 80% in the county where they live. The standard rebate will be $1,000 with extra savings available for e-cargo and adaptive e-bike purchases. Sam Spack, K-OA. President Trump says he's working to finalize the deal to completely reopen the Strait of Ormoos. The president says negotiations with Iran are continuing and that in the meantime, the U.S. continues to blockade Iranian ports. He says the U.S. has military control of the waterway. Trump also denies. The military is running low on munitions. The Trump administration proposing major changes to the federal head start program that serves low-income children. Federal officials want to reduce regulations governing the program with proposing. proposed changes that could implement class size limits, teacher qualification requirements, and other longstanding standards. The proposal would go through a federal review process and could take effect as early as next year. And hundreds of thousands are expected to gather in South Dakota for the 86th Sturge's motorcycle rally. The Sturgis Motorcycle Rally is one of the largest motorcycle meetups in the world and brings enthusiasts to the Black Hills of South Dakota. The rally dates back to the mid-1930s with the first Black Hills. classic race where just nine riders took part. These days, riders can explore sites like Spearfish Canyon, Mount Rushmore, and the Crazy Horse Memorial. Some of the events scheduled include demo rides and bike shows, stunt competitions, and concerts from Miranda Lambert, Laney Wilson, Sammy Hagar, Megadeth, David Lee Roth, and more. Taking a look at your latest business and money news with KOWA's Kerry Mack this morning as the FCC has voted to eliminate a decades-old rule limiting how many households a single broadcaster can reach nationwide. The previous cap restricted broadcasters from reaching more than 39% of the national television audience. But the FCC says the change will help TV networks compete with major digital platforms. The agency will now use a case-by-case review process when evaluating broadcast ownership. limits. Supporters say the move will strengthen local broadcasters, while critics warn it could lead to more media consolidation and fewer independent voices. The decision could have major implications for the future of television news and the media industry. And Ohio Governor Mike DeWine, he's speaking up to defend the owners of a Beaver Creek convenience store who have been sued by Texas-based travel center chain Buckees. The corporation has filed the suit against Beaver's Mini Mart claiming trademark infringement over a cartoon Beaver used on the store's sign. Mike DeWine addressed the issue while visiting the Ohio State Fair calling the lawsuit ridiculous and saying it should be dismissed. Beaver's Minimart has been open for more than 20 years. Buckees opened its first Ohio location in Hoover Heights back in April. I'm Monica Nelson. Currently, there's only one Colorado Bucky's location, but there is talks of a second one being added in the near future. And the new Bandemir Speedway project has reached another major milestone. Hudson Town Manager Bryce Lang says the Bandemir family is preparing to submit a formal site development plan. Before construction can begin, the town must determine whether nearby roads can handle race day traffic and whether the water systems in place can support the new facilities. The original Bandemere Speedway in Morrison began to be demolished in early June. One of the major concerns for people living near the future site in Weld County has to do with the influx of traffic and fears of the dragstrip disrupting operations for a nearby agricultural neighbor. Well, we are one week into training camp, but the Broncos are just trying to stay healthy. Jalen Waddle has a lower body muscle strain and will miss four to five days. He was seen hobbling during yesterday's practice as he rehabs from the injury. It works to get back onto the field. That's a critical injury because of how new Waddle is to the new offense under Davis Webb, all while trying to build chemistry with Bow Nix. We've seen the two connect multiple times through this first week of practice with Waddle showcasing his one-handed catching ability. The team continues camp this morning. before a scrimmage tomorrow. Head coach Sean Payton won't be in attendance tomorrow, but will be in Canton, Ohio to present his former quarterback Drew Brees, who will receive his gold jacket during the Hall of Fame enshrine. Larry Fitzgerald, Luke Keakley, Roger Craig, and Adam Venetary will also be inducted into the Hall of Fame. Another Hall of Famer from the University of Pittsburgh could have his enshrinement delayed if he returns to the field. Defensive lineman Aaron Donald has officially worked out for the Rams in what head coach Sean McVeigh calls the best tryout he's ever seen. Donald retired after the 2023-24 season, but a state in shape and could return to the Rams where he was still under contract for another two years, what he called it quits. If he does return, he would be paired with reigning Sack King and fellow future Hall of Famer, Miles Garrett, with the Rams acquired this off season from Cleveland. The Broncos hosts the Rams week three on Sunday night here in Denver. And look away, Buffs fans. We've seen this movie before. And the Rockies had the day off yesterday, but jump back into it tonight when they open a three-game series in St. Louis. Colorado is on a three-game losing streak after being swept by the raise and need a special run to get a sniff at a playoff spot, sitting 15 and a half games out of a wild card spot. The suspect accused of setting a wildfire in Spokane, Washington, now facing a higher bond of $2 million as investigators examined claims that he started dozens of other fires across the region. Court documents say Aaron Farinacci reportedly admitted to lighting 25 other fires since last July. Crews are continuing to battle three major wildfires in Washington that have forced more than 60,000 people to evacuate their home. and is burned over 900 structures. Meta is being ordered to pay a hefty fine for contributing to a mental health crisis among children. A New Mexico judge is ordering the owner of Facebook and Instagram to pay $567 million into a child's mental health fund to set up and address harms caused by social media. In yesterday's ruling, the judge called Meta's social media platforms a significant contributing factor to the current mental health crisis among New Mexico's youth. And Colorado will decide whether to put a right to natural gas in the state constitution when voters cast their ballots this November. The Secretary of State's office says Initiative 177 received enough valid signatures to go before voters. The measure from Advanced Colorado is designed to protect consumers' rights to buy gas for cooking and heating and the right of businesses and utilities to sell and distribute natural gas. Critics, though, say that it could wipe out years of progress on improving our air quality.

I-25 southbound, once again, is still jamming there at the 270 interchange. It's not that much of a delay, but it's hanging up I-25 a little bit as it builds a little bit heavier coming down from 104th Avenue. But we're still maintaining pretty good speeds into downtown to and from the tech center. 270, not too bad, I-76. We'll see the ramps backing up a little bit more here in the next few minutes anyway. Boulder Turnpike, Denver to Boulder on U.S. 36. That's about 25. and it's maybe just a little bit less than that. The west side of I-70 looks good out through Wheat Ridge and Arvada. The Broncos could be considering personal seat licenses to help fund the new Burnham Yard Stadium site set to be completed by 2031. PSL is the one-time fee that could be thousands of dollars, really depending on your seat location, for the right to purchase season tickets. the 20 teams in the NFL already have PSLs. Joining us on the K-O-A Common Spirit Health Hotline to talk a little bit more about it as Associate Professor of Marketing at CSU Todd Donovan. Professor Donovan, thank you so much for joining us bright and early this morning from Broncos training camp. Appreciate your time. Thank you for having me. I appreciate it. Let's talk first about what we see with PSLs because we've heard a lot of mixed reviews. We've heard some rumors about it. Do you think, I think I want to start with maybe the emotional aspects of this. Do you think that Broncos fans would keep their seats regardless of costs? I mean, season ticket holders have had seats for decades. They get passed on from generation to generation. And the emotional tie, do you think could possibly be too strong when it comes to the financial ties no matter the cost? I think you're right. People love the Broncos. It is, I argue it's the biggest brand in the state. That some, you know, people are going to complain. They're going to, you know, bitch about it and not be happy about it. But if you're not going to pay for it, someone else will, because there's a prestige, there's a status associated with being with Broncos. And, I mean, for this, the PSLs and the cost of just purchasing the right to purchase season tickets, what is it about teams doing this? And why do so many teams do this? I understand that they do revenue sharing with ticket sales, season ticket sales. But do teams have a loophole with the PSL where they don't have to necessarily share that with the rest of the league?

Yeah, I believe they are able to keep that and it's basically a revenue generating avenue to help build brand new stadiums. The big thing though, and maybe you were going to ask me about this anyway, but is yes, you have the right to buy the tickets as long as you buy the tickets every year, but you also have the right, you have the first right of refusal for any event in that stadium. So if Garth Brooks comes to play in the stadium, you have the right to buy your seat. That's a privilege. That's a benefit. You don't have to wait in line. You don't have to get, you know, go to get a ticket master and try to get a ticket in another way. You have that right to get that ticket. Still have to buy it. But for all other events there in the stadium, you've got a privilege of first in line to get it. And that's where I'm a little worried, Professor Donovan, because I'm a big concert goer. So let's say I do want a good seat for Garth Brooks. Does that mean that some of these Broncos fans that have PSLs will have first dibs when it comes to the concert tickets? And then if they do want to sell them to try to offset the price of their PSL, will I be paying double the price for Garth Brooks? That is a possibility that they could do that. But it's part of the game right now in, you know, and colleges are doing it. Dallas Cowboys did it back in, I think it was like 1960. They started doing that. What another interesting thing about this is the cost that can. You know, you say thousands of dollars, Dallas Cowboys sold some of theirs. for $250,000 a piece. And you don't buy one seat. You buy at least two seats. Yeah, who's going to a game by themselves? They're going to be like, I've got to get two. Is the value there for someone to do that to spend upwards of 50,000 like we've seen for some of those premium seats with the new Bill Stadium? We've seen some of those numbers up to 85,000 at the new Tennessee Titans Stadium. Is that worth it for some people to actually spend that type of money? In some way, I would guess that it's really corporations buying them. You know, most of the luxury boxes are bought by corporations because they're selling, I don't know, the current number. The last number I heard was $280,000 in a box, and that was several years ago. I'll bet they're $350,000 a year. You've got to sign a five, seven, or ten-year contract to actually buy those. Those are corporations by them. Maybe those seats that are going very, very heavy, very expensive as well are bought by corporations because then they can take, they buy four seats. Let's say they pay 50,000 PSL for those, but they're taking a couple of their clients with them to each game. They're able to schmuse them and, you know, hopefully convince them to do business with them. It's a business investment at that point, and they're able to ride off that cost of those seats as well. So you talk schmoozing, you talk businesses. I talk worry about can this change the environment of the stadium? Are you going to have a little bit more of a snootier crowd of people that are able to pay these prices and then bring clients that maybe not be as invested in the game as they are in the business aspect?

Exactly. Yeah, the rabid fan that's going to dress up and paint their face. And that's part of the color of games is watching some of those fans do that. It's more than just what's going on on the field. It's also those fans. And if they're just corporate, that takes away from that. There should be, I have not verified this with the Broncos, but. Typically, the teams will set aside X number of seats that are just for, like, General Mission, and you don't have to pay any PSLs for that. I think it was the Panthers, save 7,500 seats back to make sure that the common man still got into the stadium. But you're right. Are all those seats, all those good seats, just corporate people? Now, they love sports as well. But, you know, there could be a side that they're not the rabid fan that we're accustomed to. Do you think just quickly here, last question, do you think that any fan who maybe showed up to watch Russell Wilson and had season tickets in those years should be exempt from paying a PSL? No, I think you've got to do it for everybody. You know, this isn't a, we're not paying taxes to build the stadium. You know, Walton Penners are, you know, going to pay for it. But, you know, they have the right to, you know, say, hey, we're going to also charge this extra fee to build this. So I think that. Even if somebody's had tickets for 30 years, I hate to say, but it's part of the business anymore. If they want to continue having that, they're going to have to pay that upfront fee or maybe move to a less desirable seat than what they had before.
