We'll be telling you about a school district employee in Kingman County arrested. I'm Rodney Price. Sedgwick County Commissioners put in some serious overtime on Wednesday as they heard proposals for two solar projects. We'll shine the light on this story just ahead. Currently in Wichita, we do have some scattered light thunder showers in the area. Some have already gone through Park City. We have some more, maybe approaching Derby and Mulvane at this hour. It is 72 degrees here on this Thursday morning, August 6th. It was a meeting that took nearly 12 hours yesterday. Sedgwick County Commissioners denied a couple of proposed solar projects. The Galena Solar Project was a proposed $615 million, nearly 1,500-acre solar farm and battery storage facility to be located west of OxyChim, southwest of Wichita. It was expected to generate 260 megawatts of energy. Meanwhile, the Branch Line Solar Project was a proposed $150 million solar farm northeast of Clearwater. It would have covered nearly 1,360 acres and generated 130 megawatts of energy. Chairman Jeff Bluboss cited several reasons to deny the projects, including nearby properties run risk of having the property valuations negatively impacted if the application would be approved. A study completed by Virginia Tech in 2025 indicated the residential houses located within three miles of the solar site would experience a 4.8% reduction in value. Each proposal was denied by a 4-1 vote. Commissioner Ryan Beatty provided the loan no vote in each case, citing landowners' rights. Rodney Price, KNSS News. A school district employee in Kingman County has been arrested on allegations of child sex crimes. An employee with Kingman-Norwich schools has been booked into the Kingman County Jail on suspicion of rape and indecent liberties with a child. According to the employee's social media accounts, he works as a teacher assistant at Little Explorer's Play School and as a bus driver for USDA 331 Kingman Norwich. In an email sent to families, District Superintendent Kip Wilson said that based on the information it was provided from law enforcement, the alleged crime did not occur on school property during school hours or in connection with any.

school-sponsored activities. USDA 331 said the employee was immediately stripped of duties pending the outcome of the legal process. Phil Hildebrand, KNS News. Warren Martin from Kansas Strong, focusing on oil prices. Down over $10 over the past four days. Here in Kansas, that oil price is $66 a barrel. But what we're looking at is we're looking at a market that has extremely tight margins right now. Our Strategic Petroleum Reserve is down to 304 million barrels. That's the lowest point in 43 years. Domestic inventories here in the United States overall are down. And so we have a very tight supply right now. Martin, appearing with an oil and gas update. Iran admits they are talking with officials from Oman, and for the first time, the regime is getting specific about what's in a potential agreement to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. The International Monetary Fund says the war and the U.S. blockade is crippling Iran's economy with widespread fuel shortages and inflation running at 70%. That was Fox's Chandley Painter with that story. Reports say United States cities that were promised money by FIFA for hosting the World Cup this summer say that the soccer organization needs to pay up. The U.S. cities that hosted World Cup matches say they were supposed to receive money from FIFA, and now they want soccer's governing body to make good on the pledge, according to reporting from the athletic. Matches were held in 11 U.S. cities, including Los Angeles, Seattle, Dallas, Kansas City, Miami, and New York, New Jersey. The Athletic reports that four executives at U.S. host city committees say FIFA management verbally assured the cities that each one would receive a $1 million contribution. It also reports that host cities were responsible for other things like having special traffic lanes and police escorts for FIFA designated VIPs, along with the cost of wiping any non-FIFA branding. The Freedom 250 Grand Prix is the first ever NTT IndyCar Series race around the National Mall. Officials extending in the distance to 147 laps to create a 250-mile race. A typical race is 125 laps, which is about 12.5 miles long. The drivers will zoom over the 1.7-mile 7-turned street racing course. with a front stretch along Pennsylvania Avenue framed by the Washington Monument and the U.S. Capitol. The new distance will change things for racing teams and drivers who are expected to make an additional pit stop before reaching the checkered flag at the finish line. CJ Papa Fox News. A Florida restaurant is offering diners an opportunity to have a meal completely. Oh, gosh. You would give me this one, Ted. Completely in the nude, giving a whole new meeting to strip steak. Ah! Class Suarez Steakhouse in the city of Hollywood is going to be offering the naked dining experience on the first Monday of every month. The chef told news outlets that he got the idea for the stripped down dinner after a nudist group rented out the restaurant and ate... totally in the buff. The prefix meal includes appetizers, hors d'oeuvres, a surf and turf dinner, and a champagne toast. When diners enter the restaurant, they're given a robe, and at the table, a seat cushion, and a lap towel. Guests will have to dish out $250 if they're a man, $150 if they're a woman, or $300 if you're a couple. But now it did not head straight east, kind of headed southeast, and now it's all kind of hugging the Kansas, Oklahoma border. Harper County is getting some nice rain right now off to the southwest, even some severe weather, a little further south in northern Oklahoma. But it looks like a lot of that is missing us right now. He had one of the best seasons ever in a Wichita uniform in 1982 with the arrows. 466 home runs, 141 driven in, 108 walks, a 469 on base percentage, and a 33 batting average. Ken Phelps, one of the best home run to at-bat ratios in Major League Baseball history, better than Hank Aaron. Ted Williams, Mickey Mantle, Willie Mays, Lou Gehrig. He hit a home run every 14 and a half at bat. With the 82 arrows, he hit a home run every 10 at bat. He played 11 years in the big leagues, including six seasons with the Seattle Mariners. Got a World Series ring with the Oakland A's in 1989. And, of course, during his time with the Yankees, Ken Phelps did achieve immortality when he got referenced on Seinfeld when Frank Costanzo is yelling at George Steinbrenner. The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating an incident involving Marine One and an aircraft taking off from a nearby airport in Washington, D.C. Here's Fox's Mike Emmanuel with the latest. There are questions about why commercial air traffic was not stopped here at Reagan National Airport for Marine One. Video from journalist Dave Statter sets the scene a jet taking off. Then a short time later, you see Marine One flying into the area over the Potomac River near Reagan National Airport.

The president's helicopter does not appear to be in danger, but clearly Reagan National's air traffic was not stopped, which is the protocol. The FAA says it was not a serious close call. A White House spokesman downplayed any danger to Mr. Trump, noting, quote, Marine One flights are piloted by some of the best aviators in the world, and at no point was the president in harm's way. The FAA has restricted airline and helicopter traffic near Reagan-Washington National Airport following a fatal mid-air collision that killed 67 people in January last year when a commercial plane en route from Wichita to D.C. collided with an Army helicopter. Wichita police say two people were shot near 8th and Poplar in north central Wichita Wednesday afternoon. Officers then responded to the 9th and Hillside area just before 5.30 p.m. after reports of a shooting and a crash. Police say the two victims were possibly driving themselves to the hospital when they crashed near 9th and Hillside. Multiple vehicles were involved in that crash. Both victims are 18-year-old males. One was transported with critical injuries. The other sustained minor injuries. Police described the suspect as black males between 18 and 20 years old, approximately 5 feet 11 inches tall, with a thin build, longer hair, and dreadlocks. He was last seen wearing a black hoodie and black jeans and carrying a black bag. The suspect remains at large. A heavily armed would be assassin arrested outside Trump National Golf Course in California. According to the FBI, Janine John Taley was spotted walking the golf course wearing an earpiece and recording Secret Service agents. He allegedly walked right up to agents, in fact, and claimed that he was with the State Department. He even told them that he had a loaded gun. Well, thankfully, the agents weren't buying his whole shtick, and they eventually searched him, and they found that, yes, he was armed to the teeth. A 16-round magazine loaded with hollow point bullets, he had... binoculars, a fake badge reading security protection agent. Now, feds eventually also searched his home and they found an AR-style rifle, body armor, earpieces, and notebooks. And that's Fox's Kevin Cork with that report in the nation's capital. Goodwill Industries of Kansas will open its first urban store in downtown Wichita this fall, according to the organization. The store will be located at 126 North St. Francis Street and will occupy the first floor of the building. Because of its smaller footprint, the downtown store will focus on clothing items. says the location offers several advantages. A couple of pros to the location. One is downtown is meant to be walkable. And so this is really in a truly walkable space with some great restaurants around us, also interest bank arenas just down the street, NASCAR Park. So we don't foresee any issues with that. Goodwill says it does not foresee issues with paid parking at the location. An inactive SpaceX rocket crashing into the moon as the company vows to prevent similar incidents in the future. SpaceX says a combination of solar activity and gravitational forces pushed a discarded Falcon 9 second stage rocket booster on the collision course that resulted in an unintentional but predicted crash landing on the moon early Wednesday morning. The company says it's working with NASA to create more reliable trajectories. But NASA administrator Jared Isaacman shared this perspective with Fox News. First, it's very infrequent to have the things like the Falcon 9 second stage crash into the moon. Second, it's not a big deal right now. The moon has clearly seen better days. Isaac Men says as SpaceX replaces Falcon 9 with its fully reusable starship mega rocket, space junk will become less of an issue in Atlanta, John. Sirie, Fox News. Eh, the moon has seen better days. Hong had ranted on X that Thanksgiving should be axed because it celebrates colonialism and should have been canceled in 1621. Speaking on the Politico Playback podcast, she said, I don't want to cancel it. I actually love it. Recent polls show Hong leading the Democratic field to succeed Tony Evers by a wide margin heading into the August 11th primary. Well, good morning, Ted and John. Wednesday, the live cattle and the feeder cattle started once again with two-sided trading. There was 11 to 17 session highs made yesterday, and the closes ended with triple-digit gains. Now, hearing of some higher trade in our feed yards on a few hundred head, and also feeder options were higher yesterday. Lean hogs traded mostly lower yesterday and closed with mostly triple-digit losses. On the close, October live cattle, $1.57 higher at $2.29. September feeders up $2.22 at $348.37, and October lean hogs $1.32 lower at $8302. Now, Wednesday the wheat closed positive but came well off the session highs. Weather premium was taken out of the corn and the soybean futures as they traded in closed negative yesterday. Also selling pressure came from Stone X estimating the corn yield now at 184.4 bushels per acre. USDA is currently at 180. At the moment, September KC. Wheats a half a penny higher, 7.14, December corn down a quarter of a penny at 459 and three quarters. November beans down a half a penny at 11.74 and a quarter. September crude oil trading 61 cents higher at $75.83. December gold. $16 higher at $4,321, September silver, down $0.26 at $62.3, September S&P, 14 points higher at $7,764. September dollar index, $7, higher at $99.61, and September Dow Jay Jones futures 114 points higher at 54,608. The IPA seems to have developed out of an idea from, get this, I didn't know this, Ted, and maybe we are guised over at WBC could have told us more, but actually comes from the 1700s when shipping ale to India added hops to the beer, increasing the longevity of the brew. I didn't know that. 1700 is it actually. Brewers thought that hops preserved the beer for long voyages to hot climates. One London brewer gained attention for his ability to brew this particular style of beer. George Hodson shipped many casks of pale ales from India to London. However, no one knows for sure when or who coined the name of India pale ale. So brewers fermented barley. making India pale ales, and that's actually where it started, the IPA. So raise your glass on National IPA Day. Get yourself a cold pint. Are you a fan of IPAs, Tom? Are you a beer guy, an IPA guy? No, I am not much of a beer drinker, and I never gave much of a, my taste buds don't really care for, you know, craft beer that much either. Ted, do you like a craft beer? The root beer float, by the way, the national root beer float comes back to August of 1893. which I did also not know that root beer floats go back to the 1800s. So there you go. So there you go. Well, I just knew that there was no way possible. USDA was being fooled by somebody circling cows around a barn. Now, it done a little checking because there's a lot of rumors out there about USDA surveys and stuff like that. And supposedly, that's nothing more than a folklore. It never has really happened. The Army unveiled the first two of 10 new 3D-printed barracks at Fort Bliss, Texas, marking the Pentagon's largest deployment of robotic construction ever. The project built by Austin-based tech startup, Icon Prime, consists of 10 open-bay barracks. The barracks were built to withstand the harsh Texas climate while providing durable, energy-efficient housing for soldiers at a ribbon-cutting ceremony last week. Major General Curtis Taylor, the commanding general at Fort Bliss, praised the 3D6. printing process for offering a faster, more efficient, and cost-effective way to build high-quality barracks. The testament to the incredible synergy between the Defense Innovation Unit, the Army Corps of engineers, and the trailblazing technology developed by the Eichron. Together, you have to just build barracks, but you have fundamentally changed the way the Army built for any of this. The printing phase for all 10 buildings took just 58 days.
