James Talarico, I mean, James Talarico is saying that we have an affordability crisis because of corruption and that we need to reinstitute taxes on the wealthy because The false gospel, to quote him, the false gospel of trickle-down economics just does not work. To which you say, James. I say this is the line that Democrats have been saying since they first put in the income tax and promised it would only ever apply to the top 1% of people. Isn't that true? It absolutely is and so frustrating because, first of all, you know, how much is enough? The top taxpayers who earn less than half of all adjusted gross income already pay 70.5% of all federal income taxes. So when he says he's going to cut the discounts to the top pay. What does he mean? How much more than their share are they already going to pay? But even worse, as usual, the Democrat recommended solutions are going to make the problem worse, just like they have every time. Well, I find it ironic that he puts the affordability crisis on a corruption crisis. I'm not disagreeing with him, but if they want to find extra money to throw at programs, how about we clean up? The billions were made perhaps even a trillion dollars or more of welfare fraud and all these other social programs, many of them instituted by Democrats, and many of them in states that are run by Democrats, where we have people that are on the rolls that they're illegally and have gotten hundreds of thousands of dollars with the benefits they're not entitled to. Absolutely. The level of corruption that is that we are now seeing proven be present in government programs is off right now. And not just corruption, but waste. The money that could be helping the people who need it the most is instead being skimmed off the top and through the middle by numerous NGOs, numerous fraudsters, and yes, illegal aliens who are...
adding to their list of illegal things they've done by skimming, but by providing leaning centers, not learning centers, and providing daycares that don't actually care for anybody and Medicare services that don't actually serve anyone. And unlike raising the minimum wage, which would actually cost jobs and raise costs on the very people who can afford at the very least, reducing that waste would actually make sure that some of the tax money that we have been spending actually gets more to the people who need it the most. James, Dakey, while I have you, let me quickly ask you about another story that's related to all this that we've been talking about this morning and that it's just not enough to call somebody a communist because there's too many young people out there that don't know what a communist really is. That is absolutely tragic. And frankly, it's a reflection of the damage that's been done by the Democrat takeover and union takeover of education for the last. several decades. Fortunately, in Texas, we've just made gains with school choice, and we've seen that hundreds, over 200,000 people, families have asked to please have an alternative for education for their kids, and nearly 100,000 of them are already participating in the program. And thankfully, those kids are not going to be taught. that the very philosophy that killed tens of millions of people and made misery and poverty worse for hundreds of millions of people around the globe is actually a just fine alternative.
