A Rochester man who admitted killing a woman on the city's northwest side is expected to be sentenced today to 25 years to life in prison. 20-year-old Dimeer Bailey pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and gun crimes. Police say gunned down 39-year-old Sandra Blanding in front of a house on Spencer Street near Lyle Avenue back in March last year. It's not believed the two knew each other. Investigators have not mentioned a motive. Dave Debo, News Radio.

A WAM, 1180. An upgraded charge against a man accused of killing someone during an attack last week. A Monroe County grand jury has indicted 46-year-old Sean Raphael Warnock on second-degree manslaughter. Police announced on Wednesday the 53-year-old Timothy Carlton had died of his injuries. Raphael Warnock allegedly punched him in the head several times during an argument on Wood Road and Greece a week earlier. A suburban county woman ticketed in connection with a fatal Ontario County crash last month. Investigators say 41-year-old Morgan Gleadman crossed into oncoming traffic on County Route 12 in Naples, triggering a chain reaction crash. 71-year-old Brian Johnson of Naples died when his pickup truck caught fire. The sheriff say Gleadman was issued citations for reckless driving and failure to stay in her lane and will appear in Naples Town Court. Dave Smith, News Radio WAM 1180. Iran insists it must have control over the strait, effectively closed by Iranian attacks on Shep. shipping. Normally a fifth of the world's crude oil transits through. Talks between Iran and Oman on a reopening deal were said yesterday to be in their final stages. In an apparent reference to the United States, an Iranian spokesman warned against certain parties obstructing the process. Jonathan Savage, Fox News. President Trump signing new executive orders to restrict birthright citizenship and ban birth tourism. Speaking from the Oval Office on Thursday, Trump said the 14th Amendment applies to children of slavery. That notion is long outdated. Wealthy people are building businesses around birthright citizenship. That's not the way it's supposed to work. It's a disgrace. They're buying their way in, and we're not going to let it happen. The order restricts birthright citizenship involving children of foreign diplomatic staff, children of people classified as alien enemies, and children born in U.S. territories. The other order bans citizenship to children born of mothers who entered the U.S. for the sole purpose of having a child here. Both orders will no doubt be challenged after the Supreme Court already struck down Trump's attempt to end automatic birthright citizenship to children of non-citizens. I'm Mark Nefield. Governor Kathy Hochul signed the legislation aimed at evening the playing field for small licensed operators to sell weed at community events, including pop-ups and farmers' markets. Quality-high dispensary owner Matthew Nicoletti says the measure allows micro-business like his to connect with consumers and introduce them to their products while building brand awareness in ways that might otherwise be out of reach. There is a legal settlement ending the claims that egg distributors colluded to artificially inflate prices for supply contracts. State Attorney General Letitia James says three companies, Cal Main, Versova, Ed Hickman's coordinated bidding strategies starting in 2022 to drive up price quotes, then submitted phony bids at the higher prices, then with... drew the bids. Under the settlement, the companies are paying more than $3 million and delivering $53 million to food banks and nonprofits in New York and other states. The shooting happened at a high school on the outskirts of Thailand's capital Bangkok. The suspected shooter, a 14-year-old boy who was a student at the school, is dead after turning the gun on himself. He said to have killed his grandparents before going to Debsyrian Nontaburi school to carry out the attack. Both teachers and pupils are among the casualties. Several people have been taken to hospital and are critically hurt. Gun ownership is common in Thailand to as is gun violence. This is the country's second school shooting this year. Jonathan Savage, Fox News. President Trump dismissing concerns of U.S. munitions stockpiles running low. The president says the U.S. military has virtually unlimited supply of some munitions pushing back on reports. The Pentagon is running low on critical weapons. So we're in great shape. But with that being said, we always want more. We have to have more. Speaking with reporters in the Oval Office, President Trump conceded some weapons stockpiles are tighter than others. And we're getting them in on a daily basis. As you know, our defense companies are building more plants right now than at any point in history. A New Mexico judge ordered the owner of Facebook and Instagram to pay $567 million into a child mental health fund set up to address harms caused by social media. In Thursday's ruling, the judge called META's social media platforms a significant contributing factor to the current mental health crisis among New Mexico's youth. Good morning bond investors are bracing for labor market data which could cool growing expectations that the Federal Reserve raises interest rates at its next meeting in September. Economists expect the employment report will show about 80,000 jobs were created in July, with more jobs added than in June, but still among the lowest totals this year. Weakness in the labor market could cool concerns that it's fanning inflation with U.S. inflation data for July due next week. Oil has extended gains after a report that Iran attacked hostile targets in the straight of four moves. Brent right now is at $83 a barrel. WTI is at $77. Chipotle's stock fell 2% after federal health officials linked a multi-state salmonella outbreak to jalapeno peppers served at the burrito chain. Federal officials have traced it to a grower in Sinola, Mexico. At least 345 people in 27 states have fallen ill. Stock futures are mixed.

Trump told reporters negotiations with Iran are continuing and that in the meantime, the U.S. continues to blockade Iranian ports and have military control of the waterway. The American Civil Liberties Union is condemning President Trump's latest executive orders targeting birthright citizenship. One order restricts birthright citizenship involving children of former diplomatic staff, children of people classified as alien enemies, and children born in U.S. territories. Progress reportedly being made in efforts to convince Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. Fox is Steve Harrigan with more from Tel Aviv. Some Iranian officials are saying they could be close to a deal with Amman for the free regulation of shipping through the Strait of Hormuz. Here's Iran. deputy foreign minister. These fundamental agreements with Oman have mostly been completed, meaning we have made significant progress in our discussions with Oman, and this progress is on the verge of being finalized. Of course, violence in the region could get in the way. The Houthis once again attacked two Saudi oil tankers. They also killed 38 government soldiers in Yemen, so they could be facing retaliation. President Trump taking new steps to restrict birthright citizenship. Months after the U.S. Supreme Court rejected an effort by President Trump to deny birthright citizenship to children born the parents living in the U.S. illegally. An executive order this week now aims to rein in so-called birth tourism. They've taken birthright citizenship and they've made a joke out of it. President Trump is directing officials to deny visas of foreign visitors suspected of traveling to the U.S. to give birth. A second order expands the categories of foreigners who's

children would not qualify for birthright citizenship. We're cracking down very big, very big, big crackdowns. It's unclear if either of the two orders can survive likely constitutional challenges. Preliminary State Test results show a drop in school reading proficiency in New York last year and its slight improvement in math scores. The results were obtained by the City Reporter News Agency. The numbers show about 48% of students in grades 3 through 8 were proficient last year in reading, a drop of 5 points from the year before. At the same time, 57% of the students had a proficient score on the math tests. The biggest reading drop was in grades 3 through 5. District level scores are not yet available.

A new report from Prison Watchdog Group, the Correctional Association of New York shows. The mortality rate went from just under 2 per 1,000 inmates in 2010 to just under 4 last year. Toronto police say they've arrested a 19-year-old man and a 15-year-old boy as the suspects in the shooting. And they say they believe it was part of a gun-for-hire network. 19-year-old Zenul Abdeen Sayyad faces multiple gun arson and stolen property offenses as well as a charge of attacking the premises of an internationally protected person. The 15-year-old was also charged but cannot be named under Canadian law. This incident follows an attack on the consulate in March. Police arrested two people in June. Chief Superintendent Joe Matthews said investigators think shootings, murders and arsons are increasingly being commissioned through online apps, with suspects offered varying amounts of money depending on the crime.
