Speaking of governors, the governor of Michigan, Gretchen Whitmer has... said she'll back Abdul El-Sayed in the general election, proving once again the enemy of my enemy is my friend, Powerball Jackbats. Jackpot is up to $856 million in preseason football starts today in Canton, Carolina, and Arizona. Well, we're looking at record highs for the Dow, you know, between the market and oil prices, back down again. I mean, there's no $10 gasoline. There's no market crash. It really begs a question. The Iranian conflict created so much uncertainty that it has become a stable certainty. And now a Wall Street boom, our economist who never falls for any of these narratives, David Guy Benson is joining us from the Guy Benson Financial Group. Good morning, David. Morning, Michael. Good to be with you. All right. Explanation for the market. Obviously, fact, they're at record highs. You would have thought between tariffs and the conflict in Iran, the ongoing fighting that we're supporting in Ukraine with Russia, that these would be uncertain times. But there seems to be a built-in certainty. Well, I don't think that that's true that there's a built uncertainty. I think that markets are hired despite the various uncertainties. Let's keep in mind there's always uncertainties. It's just a question of which ones they are. And I think the ones you highlight are accurate. I think there is uncertainty in Iran. I mean, obviously the Russia-Ukraine thing is now four and a half years old. So that's a little less. of a current event. And then the oil prices have not moved substantially, but they are higher than they've been. And gas prices are quite a bit higher. And that hasn't yet put any pressure on the consumer. But all of it, though, begs the question as to what it is to move stock prices, which is what we're talking about. How can stock prices go up with uncertainty? It's because stock prices don't measure certainty or uncertainty. They measure corporate profits. Corporate profits are up.

And stock price is always and forever, follow profits, and profits have grown, and so stock prices have grown. This is always, I'd love to ask this question of economists. What would happen to the stock market if America became socialist? I mean, a literal socialist nation, what would become of the stock market? Well, I mean, obviously, question answers itself. It would put downward pressure on corporate profits. And if you mean literal, like not the way people lie and say that Norway is, but if you mean an actual one where the means of production were centralized, then there likely wouldn't be a stock market. But if there was, like if you had a sort of hybrid, like the state-owned enterprises. of China, it would just have to, you know, trade it a five or six times multiple, not a 22 or 23 times multiple. So it would put every pension fund in America out of business. No public employees would ever get their pensions. But they're doing it all for the working man, aren't they? David Guy Benson, economists, joins us every Thursday. He also presides over the dividend cafe, which I highly recommend you read every Friday morning. I always say ignorance is bliss, and it is. I mean, that's why it's an expression. It must be painful for somebody that knows as much as you do. I mean, I can sit with what I know, which is just enough to be dangerous, somebody ignorantly in bliss and me and you are all watching these socialists pander and say, and it seems like they can just say anything. The latest is, of course. You shouldn't have to work. But if you do, you know, you shouldn't have any bills. So your housing should be free. Or the latest is you shouldn't have to pay any interest on a credit card. I mean, they just bring up all this crazy stuff. But they have real implications. There's reasons why you couldn't do that. I mean, yeah, you could say that. You won't have any interest on a credit card. But guess what? Tomorrow you won't have a credit card. So, but I mean, how painful is this for somebody that really understands these things to listen to these lies? You know, Michael, you're probably not, I think you've gotten to know me well enough to know that you're not going to be shocked at where I'm going with this. It isn't painful for me to hear it from the socialist because I've been hearing it from them my whole life and the notion that you shouldn't have to work if you don't want to was a very carefully articulated dogma from Karl Marx 100. 70 years ago. And I grew up reading the failed faculty lounge dogma of a far left progressive socialist. And so there's no surprise to me. I appreciate their consistency. I don't like seeing any of them get elected, but radicals are going to radical. What is painful for me, and I mean painful in a way that I pray about it daily. It pains me is that I increasingly see these things. if not to the same extreme, at least in foundation being embraced by people on the right. I sit here and hear us bash on the folks talking about no credit card interest. That was a bipartisan bill. That was supported by Donald Trump. That was Josh Hawley who co-wrote the bill with Bernie Sanders.

And so I expect more from people in my backyard than others. And the socialist DSA extremists we're seeing today is awful, but it doesn't shock me. But seeing JD Vance bash Milton Friedman, bash Margaret That shocks me. And I believe if the right does not, if the right wants to beat DSA with an echo instead of a counter that we got another thing coming, my friend. Yeah, I call it The Matrix. You know, we all end up in our little villages. And there's a big main one, which is the us versus them, left versus right. So the left watches, what it watches, reads what it reads. They're left with only leftist friends online and they're just repeating narratives. But the right is doing the same thing, which is to what you're speaking to. And it's amazing to me that the right can tell you. It can describe the left's matrix to a T, but they don't see any of their own. Well, and the problem is our founding fathers did because this was why we had separation of powers. It's why we had the form of government we had is that we recognized populism as an enemy. And right now, what I've become very convinced of is this horseshoe theory that left-wing populism and right-wing populism just end up in the same place. So you start off saying, I want a central planner in D.C. to determine where we're going to buy goods from. And I want them to go put their finger on the scale, what companies get taxed more or which ones don't so that we end up buying more American goods. And I think that sounds like a good idea. So they kind of open the door to central planning because something about protectionism sounds like a good idea. And if it's Trump doing it instead of Obama, what could go wrong? But it takes about five seconds for that to fall apart into... Hey, we may as well have Zohran Mamdani start grocery stores. And you may as well, at Bernie Sanders say, no more credit cards. And you may as well, you see what I'm saying? The slippery slope is real. And our founding father is Madison and Jefferson warned against the tyranny of the masses. You want the people to elect their elected leaders. We set policy based on things that will confiscate or redistribute or put the authority of economic decision making in central planners that don't have incentives or knowledge to do so. It's frightening. So I think the DSA moment is very likely going to prove to be a beneficial one because I think it's going to fail and it will mobilize people back to the first principles that we seem on our own side to have abandoned. And I'll tell you the best thing right now going on with JD Vance harping about free markets is he's totally taking my eye off of Trump. I don't even think about Trump anymore. I'm so bad at JD Vance all the time. Well, that may divide the audience. I get a lot of grief because I'm so impressed with Marco Rubio, and he seems to be the most consistent to me. I'd love Ron DeSantis. Don't get me wrong. I think he would be a great president. I just don't know if he can be a good enough candidate to become president.

I have a lot of frustrations with JD Vance. You know, nothing demonstrates it more than their hatred of the Electoral College. I was played earlier in the week, Pete Buttigieg speaking against the electoral college and how insane it is that we don't just go to, what's wrong? What is so outrageous about popular vote? I mean, this would cause, you know, Democrats to have to earn or, you know, earn Republican votes in places, and Republicans would have to earn Democrat votes. And of course, it's just the opposite. It's because the motive is party. and not people and not security and not prosperity and out of a more perfect union, they make it about them that has created all of this chaos. I do think we're headed to some level of a rock bottom. And I'm with you. I think it's going to lead to something great. Because if at the end of the day, the Democrats blow up their party in this whole process and it's coming because the Islamists want to take over the socialist and together they're taking over the Democrats. And of course, if the parasite dies, the host dies with it. But the Republicans got a big handoff in 2028, and I'm seeing a lot of movement in the backfield that looks like a fumbles coming. So both parties might be in trouble, and that means America might be on the verge of a miracle. Yeah, I agree with you. I love your optimism. And I want to say, Michael, that don't ever underestimate the Democrats' ability to screw this thing up for themselves. Because there is a lot of disarray right now on the right. There are divisions. There are, you know, unpopular things out there. But an Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, an Alcied, you know, some of these extreme things that they have going, they could just very well. snatch victory from the jobs to defeat or vice versa or whatever. So I think that the lane for normalcy, the lane for Reaganism, the lane for constitutionalism, it's there. And I pray for it. I think about it. And I just want those of us on the right who believe in the vision of the founders. to do everything we can to stay consistent. And the one element we haven't focused on here, left or right, the abandonment of character. And I think if you get someone, I love Marco Rubio for the fact that he's always advocated for that moral foundation, you get someone who's willing to advocate for that high character. I think that there are enough people in the country that are willing to say, this is a lane we have to return due. Maybe I'm overestimating the American people right now, but I do pray for it. I do think that Donald Trump is probably the leader of the Republican Party.

I don't think the Democrats have one. Bill Clinton is ancient history. Barack Obama is ancient history and nobody's looking at Joe Biden. So they are leaderless in one sense. In the other sense, they have a leader, but it might be Hasan Piker. It might be Zohran Mamdani. It might be Abdul El-Sayed. It might be Bernie Sanders still. Two of them are socialist radically, and three of them are Islamist. It's a very interesting year. And we'll head into 2027, either at rock bottom or on the verge of a reawakening. Bottom line is the markets are doing well in spite of, maybe the better way to ask it is if we didn't have tariffs, if we didn't have the uncertainty from the Middle East, what would they be? First of all, the fascinating conversation is who's the head of the Democrat Party? Is it Bernie Sanders? Because he's not even a Democrat. Oh, no, no, no, it's not him. It's Hasan Piker. Oh, really? He's not a Democrat. Well, Zohran Mamdani and Al-Sayyad, well, they're Islamists. But nothing, you know, speaks more to that chaos within the Democrat Party. Like CNN, talking about Islamist Al-Sayyad's victory, which is really talking about James Carvel isn't that age in history. This was the strategist behind Bill Clinton that no one thinks of as a Democrat. let alone Barack Obama, let alone Joe Biden. And who is Carvel talking about? Hasan Piker. Who the heck is he? And who dropped dead and made him boss? But Carvel's comment is, if Hasan Piker is the Democrat Party, then I can't be in the same party with him. So what does CNN do? It goes to a non-democrat. independent slash socialist Bernie Sanders to comment on James Carvel commenting on Hasan Piker and how they can't be in the same party. And what's Bernie's answer? So when someone like James Carvel says he doesn't want to be in the same political party as Hasan Piker, which one are you going to take? No, that's not much of a choice. Mr. Carville doesn't want to be in my party, the party that I belong to that PICA, that Alas Sayed belongs to. He can start his own party. But, yeah. So Bernie Sanders isn't even a Democrat, and they allow him to run for the presidential nomination. Caucuses is an independent and is a socialist. And now it's his party? It's Hasan Piker party? Is it Zohran Mamdani's and Al-Sayyads too? And you know what? It might be. Lie upon lie upon chaos upon chaos. There's that sound. Proves it all in one. That's why we say always revealing. Not so entertaining. Actually quite frightening. At least for Senator John Fetterman, who finds himself an actual Democrat from Pennsylvania with these nuts running the asylum. Organizations like Jay Street have now made it okay for Democrats to vote against even supporting Iron Dome. Purely, purely defensive kinds of a system. Why would you not support that kind of a thing? And that's pushing us in the Democratic Party. You know, are we willing to turn our back to Israel? You know, history has demonstrated.

that if a nation or people will turn their back to the Jewish community that has some very tragic outcomes. Is that John Fetterman understanding, I will bless those who bless Israel, I will curse those who curse it? Is that John Fetterman understanding this is a proven ally of the United States, that this is a dot of democracy in the middle of an Arab Muslim? area of control. When I was listening to that clip, I don't know what made me think of this. But think about it. If you talk to Muslim voters in Dearborn, Michigan, and you bring up Al-Sayyad's support of a terrorist organization, they'll say, well, there's nothing wrong with that organization. What that organization does is if people try to rob stores or other government influences are trying to come into an area like where I'm from in Lebanon, you know, Hezbollah protects that. And then I'm thinking to myself, they all want to get rid of borders. They all want to get rid of the military. They all want to get rid of the police. So who would protect these businesses? A terrorist organization? Is that their ultimate vision? There are parts of this country that don't look like America. Parts of this country that may not be America soon. Remember, there is a dangerous side to all this chaos. I don't think it's going to end that way. I think it's a fun thing to watch and we'll talk about it for decades. The Democrats so obsessed with beating. Republicans playing the D versus R, blue versus red game, allowed open borders and illegals to vote. Whatever it took to win. Allowed socialists like Bernie Sanders to come in, whatever it takes to win. And then they grew the squad. And in that squad, half of them were Islamist.
