All right, because we're getting the photos of you guys, videos of you guys. And then you're going to have stalkers looking at Deborah the whole time. And it's, you know what our listeners are like, some of them. Welcome. We're here from 3 to 6 all the time. And then after 6 o'clock, John Cobalt show on demand on the I-Hard app. We're live on YouTube. We're live on X. And... That's all you need to know where to watch us and where to hear us. Now, we discovered yesterday on Sunday that there was a, I suppose, I'd want to be assassin that was stalking the... Trump Golf Club, the Trump National Golf Club, in Rancho Palace Verdes in advance of Trump's arrival last night to host a Republican fundraiser. And as the Secret Service started monitoring him, monitoring... The golf club, they eventually arrested him and discovered he had lots of weapons that he owned. And he looked really to be up to no good. And the guy's name, is he, are we still calling him Janine? Or is there some weird pronunciation for that? Yes, that is still what we're calling him. J-E-A-N-I-N-E. Janine John Taley? Is that the, I'm sorry, I'm interrupting lunch. I'm eating, but it's okay. All right. Janine John Taylor, he's 38 years old. He's from Downey. We have a lot of listeners in Downey. Anybody know this character? And he has been charged with a list of firearms crimes. It looks like he had an outstanding case, a robbery case. And let's get Don Mahalek on. He's with ABC News, the law enforcement contributor and a retired senior secret service agent. Don, how are you? Good, John. How are you? I'm really good. So first thing I was thinking of today. Because, you know, the Secret Service a couple of years ago was getting a lot of grief for missing the guy who took a shot at Trump in Butler. This time they, like when they identified the guy in Florida as well, they what do they notice? What are they looking for when they're doing one of these like perimeter searches?
a couple of days beforehand. Like, what, what kind of behavior are they looking for? And what red flags did this guy, Janine, trigger? So when the Secret Service advanced team was at Trump's course, the first day, they noticed this individual walking around who seemed to be taking videos and pictures of the advanced team. So that alerted them that there was some suspicious behavior going on with the guys. When they came back the second day, they got a report from the golf course that the guy was back, and this time he was walking around with an earpiece. and a camera and some other things. He eventually came up to the advanced team and said that he was with the Diplomatic Security Service, the State Department, for Marco Rubio, and he was part of the planning process, which the Secret Service agents knew was wrong. So they contacted the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. who came, they identified the individual. They found out he had an arrest warrant for a robbery case. When they searched him, he had some ammunition on him. They found a gun in his car. And then when they went to the house, they found more firearms, radios, body armor, and a bunch of writings had a direction of interest towards the White House. I think he had the White House switchboard number written on the wall. So he got, yeah, so he got charged by the DA's office. Yeah, he got charged by the DA's office for all the guns and for the... And of course, for the warrant. But then overnight, the U.S. Attorney's Office filed federal firearms charges against them because these days nobody wants to be to, you know, take too many chances. They file federal firearms charges against them while the Secret Service and its partner agencies are investigating the threat component of this to figure out, was this guy indeed a threat? Did he pose a threat? Is there mental health issues here sort of worked at investigation to figure out? if this guy was there for Trump or for Marco Rubio or for another public officials. And then if they do determine that, if the evidence supports it, they'll file more charges for threatening a public official. Yeah, so it was him coming up to them, claiming he was part of this diplomatic security team. Now, was there no such team, no such agency? He made up a position? No, the diplomatic security service is the State Department's version of the Secret Service. They're the guys that protect the Secretary of State, and they handle all the security at the embassies around the world.
So there is a diplomatic security service. It seemed to me he had a fixation on Marco Rubio more so than Trump. He probably thought Marco Rubio was going to be there for this, and I'm not sure if the secretary was or wasn't. But, you know, the Secret Service runs a pretty robust protective intelligence. division and on in advance, there is always a protective intelligence element that tracks threats within the local area that could impact the site or the protectee. And in this case, they probably worked with the LA Sheriff's Office and the LA police to look at these threats that were in the area. This guy, of course, was not on that list. He was unknown to everybody. So I think when they advanced teams saw them on the first day, that raised their alert and they're probably trying to figure out, you know, because it's a public golf course. One of the issues with Trump's courses is there's going to be people walking around the course for different reasons because you can't shut the course off. And they probably wanted to see on the first day, is this somebody that belongs there? Or is it not, including the second day, show that he didn't belong there? Right. Did they immediately see that he was connected to this robbery charge? Well, probably when they ran his name, my memory of the California criminal justice databases, they probably ran the guy's name and ran his license, and he pops with the warrant out of L.A. County for the robbery. when we're trying to identify him. How many incredible threats does a controversial president like Trump get in the course of a week or a month? Like just how crazy is it? In the world of, in the world we're in now, where you have social media, the internet, foreign actors, and this rise of mental health issues, Trump has seen a 40% increase of threats towards him. And I think the Secret Service has said they've handled thus far this year. 10,000 mental health-related cases. What? 10,000. 10,000? And a lot of this is the crazy stuff people post online, I would guess, right? A lot of it's that crazy stuff people post online, somebody who's got some mental health issues who goes off the rails on some chat room or whatever. So, you know, all of those cases get run down. All those cases have to be investigated because, as we've seen in the past, people with mental health issues that can be a component of somebody plotting an attack. So you can't leave any stone unturned. And in light of Trump's situation, you want to make sure that you cover all your bases. Do they all get a visit? Where do you get the staff for 10,000 crazy comments online? A lot of them get a visit by the Secret Service, including when...
Kathy Gifford, and I forgot who was Madonna. Cassie Grisisis, yeah. Kathy Griffin, right. She issued a, that Hank held up a whatever, right, Trump's head and, you know, they all get a visit. They all, they all get a visit from the Secret Service or a partner agency, you know, like the L.A. County Sheriff's Office. And all these investigations have to be run down to figure out, is this a valid threat? Or was it some guy in a bar who got really drunk and decided to say something stupid? Right. And do the people who just popped off? Do they quickly, is it quickly apparent that they're not really dangerous, but that they just had a bad moment or maybe they're, they're just a little loopy, but they're not actually a threat. I mean, I guess that's what the purpose of the visit, huh? How does that conversation go? They do a full investigation, look at the person's background, and everybody the individual, and then they interview everybody in their orbit to try to figure that out. Right. And they have the personnel and the time to take care of. Thousands and thousands of these? That just seems overwhelming. Mission first always. And again, they leverage sometimes partnerships with other agencies like our local departments. I see. Yeah. Wow. And it's getting worse and worse as social media becomes a larger part of people's lives, especially the crazy people who seem to live on it. Absolutely. All right. Well, listen, this is fascinating stuff. Don Mahalek. Thank you very much. Thanks, John. All right, Don Mollock, ABC News, law enforcement contributor, retired senior Secret Service agent. You ever want to know what goes on behind the scenes here to track a guy and then to deal with the incredible number of threats towards Trump? Certain presidents just get, you know, Obama got a lot of it. I imagine, well, I don't know anymore. I think everybody gets a lot of threats now because people can do it so easily. They do it for sport. And there's a lot of people sitting at home on drugs, and they're so wound up with politics and the algorithms and the idiocy that's fed to them by the social media companies. We'll talk more about this particular Trump guy when we come back. You're listening to John Cobalt on demand from KFI AM 640. All right. So this guy named Janine. I wondered, my first thought yesterday, is this guy another one of these trans people? Because some of the, no, I mean, some of the violent people have been trans or trans affiliated or furry affiliated. So, you know, I wondered if it was just somebody with a lot of issues. I haven't, I just haven't seen.
Any indication that he's, you know, got family who's talking or friends who are talking. Nobody seemed to know this guy. Although he lived in Downey. Well, he lives in Downey. A salmon-colored one-story home on a tree-lined block, according to the L.A. Times. And a Tesla and a vintage low-rider car sat in the driveway. They talked to a neighbor, Larry. Larry said he's seen Taylor's truck and reminded Taylor to move it for street sweeping. He's lucky he didn't get a bullet for that advice. Then on Monday he saw a swarm of police vehicles approaching the house. And he thinks Taylor was either a roommate of the homeowner or staying as a guest in the Downey home. And he goes, it's a quiet street. You never know who your neighbors are. I guess nobody talks. Nobody talks to each other there. Now, on Friday, Taylor was seen walking around the golf course, wearing an earpiece, and he was taking photos of agents while the photos were doing a security assessment. He drove to the course in a Toyota Tundra with a license plate that they found was expired since 2022. All right, that was on Friday. Then he shows up on Sunday, and that's when he told the agents that he was with the State Department, security detail for Marco Rubio. So they run a background check, and he's got a warrant in El Segundo, a robbery charge from 2025. He was out on $250,000 bail. This is why there should be no bail. You do something nasty like robbery. He is no bail. Look, he could have shot God knows who. Then they go into his house. Illegally modified AR-style rifle, 45 caliber pistol, body armor, high-capacity magazines, bulk pistol ammunition. And no, I was waiting for this part. Notebooks containing concerning statements. I guess that's his ranting and raving. Two radio signal devices, he had a badge that read Fugitive Recovery bail enforcement. Hmm. And military guy. He had quite the honorable record. He served eight years, 2008 to 2016, and toured Iraq and France. I love how they say he did tourists. Actually, he may have been killing people in Iraq. Iraq and Afghanistan, excuse me. He was at Camp Pendleton. He earned a number of medals, two good conduct medals, National Defense Service Medal, a global war on terrorism service medal, two sea service ribbon, the NATO International Security Assistance Force Medal. So, you know, I don't know anything about military and medals and decorations, but that seems like a lot. I don't know if that, you know, he was a corporal. That was his highest rank. His specialty was warehouse clerk. Hmm. You get all those medals from being a warehouse clerk? Again, I don't know this stuff. I probably sound ridiculously ignorant to military people, but I don't know. Warehouse clerk racking up all these medals? I thought you give it to the guys who do the shooting. Do the invading.
How many attacks on Trump has there been now? It's like the fourth one, right? Yeah. Because there was the correspondence dinner a few months ago. There was the one in Florida where they nailed that guy. Right. They noticed him hiding in the bushes. And then the big one in Butler. And I can't remember a president having this many high profile. I was going to ask you that yesterday, and then I forgot. I was going to say, has any other president had any more of these attempts? No. I remember there were two attempts against Jerry Ford when we were kids. That I don't remember, John. That was a long time ago. I was an infant. Well, because one of them. Actually, I read a long story on one of them recently. She was a member of the Manson crew. What was her name? And, yeah, she got convicted. of trying to kill him or conspired to kill him or whatever the charges were. But it was two within a couple of weeks. And I remember I thought at the time, it's like, who wants to kill Jerry Ford? I mean, he was about as bland and inconsequential a president as you're ever going to. I mean, he wasn't even elected. And, but he wound up this woman, Sarah Jane Moore, I think. And I think the other one was named Fromer or something. And there was a story on one of these two women recently where she married a guy, second marriage. The guy's first wife had died. Somehow she shows up. He falls in love with her. Has no idea who she is. Can you imagine? But the family gets the creepy vibe as they're meeting her and having dinner with her. They didn't like her and they didn't know why. They just didn't. And then somebody finally did some research on her. It's like, Dad, she tried to kill President Ford. Oh, well, you know, that's just a little thing. We all make mistakes. We live and learn. She's learned. From her past. Can you imagine that? Everybody's worried about, you know, dad marrying some whack job after mom goes. And boy, he hit the jackpot there. Not too many people marry a presidential, a wannabe presidential assassin. I actually felt bad for the guy because apparently he was shell-shocked. And eventually this woman started exhibiting. weird behaviors and you started understanding how that would lead to an assassination attempt. And he, I remember reading the story, I think for his final years, he was just very quiet. Like he didn't talk to anybody anymore. I think he was afraid to break up with her. Do you blame him? So he just, he just shut down and, you know, just waited for his exit day.
Yeah, well, there's a lot of insanity out there, and the stupid social media stirs up more every day. Got to thank the morons like Mark Zuckerberg for that. All right, we've got more coming up. Oh, this is funny. One of the big debates going on in the world has been voter ID. We had Carl DeMaio on yesterday, and he's got a voter ID. referendum that's going to be on the ballot in November. And Rob Bonta wrote a really, that Weasel wrote this really awful title and summary to try to suppress the yes vote. And Zohran Mamdani announced his new grocery stores, city-owned grocery stores. There is a connection between the voter ID story and the grocery store story. And it was actually quite entertaining. And we'll play a little clip from Zohran Mamdani's press conference when we come back and you'll see how that works. You're listening to John Cobalt on demand from KFI AM 640.
John Cobelt Show, KFI, AM 640. More stimulating talk radio. We are on from 3 to 6 after 6 o'clock. John Cobelt Show on demand on the IHeart Radio app. And if you want to watch us, we're live on YouTube. And live on X on your Twitter feed. You can subscribe, become a member at YouTube.com slash at John Cobalt Show. So watch us on YouTube, watch us on X, listening to us on KFI and the streaming. Listen to us on the podcast after 6 o'clock. Just listen somehow, sometime today. This is so funny. Zohran Mamdani, the communist mayor of New York City, wants to open communist-run grocery stores, which I have seen up close in Cuba. And this will be entertaining. He's trying things that have never worked for 100 years. But go ahead. Waste the taxpayer money. He's going to spend tax money. And he's going to sell groceries at a 30% discount. And he had a press conference to announce this. And during the press conference, a reporter asked Zohran Mamdani, well, how are you going to keep people from buying large quantities of goods and then sell them at a markup? And... Also, still undercut privately run grocery stores. See, when you have a 30% discount, you could buy large quantities at the communist grocery store. And then sell them in a 10% discount or a 15% discount. And you undercut the private stores. So it's a stupid idea. So anybody can walk in there. You could send, you know, your assistant manager or a stock boy in to grab as much as he can fit in his car. You could start selling this crap on the street, or you can sell it on eBay. Okay. So Zohran Mamdani gets this question from the reporter, and he's standing with... New York's chief financial officer, Jeannie Pack. And this question was uncomfortable from, from Zohran Mamdani, and you'll see why. So he turned the answer over to Jeannie Pack. Play Cut one. How are you going to keep people from taking advantage of that, you know, that? deal, basically, and is there going to be a limit on the number of items that someone can take that are discounted at that level from that essential basket? So our RFP makes very clear that this is a program for New Yorkers to be able to put food on the table, not a program for people to be able to make a quick buck through reselling. I'm going to pass it over to our EDC head GP to add some additional details. Yeah, so if you look at our RFP for the operator, we are looking to make sure that we target New Yorkers, whether it be at sort of a library card,
So we manage who's buying and that is focused on everyday New Yorkers. So we are mindful of that. And so we're going to make sure that we have all the things in place to make ensure that that does not happen. She's talking very rapidly. And she blew past a three word phrase there that explains how are they going to keep people? from buying large quantities of this discounted food and then hoarding it and reselling it. And can you, Eric, can you go back to the phrase library-esque-esque? We target New Yorkers, whether it be sort of a library card-esque thing. Okay. She says library card-esque, which means similar. Which means ID. Voter ID. Food ID. Zohran Mamdani is very, very much against voter ID. That's racist. It discriminates against poor people, women. It's Jim Crow 2.0. For some reason, there's belief among Democrats that black people don't have ID and can't figure out how to get ID. So no ID for voting, according to Zohran Mamdani. But yes, you need an ID to go to his communist grocery store to make sure you're not going to buy in bulk and hoard the food and resell it. Play that line again. Listen how quickly she goes through it. We target New Yorkers, whether it be sort of a library card, and also we manage. I mean, she swallowed the last word. He was started talking fast. after that question, and he quickly got off the stage because he didn't want a video clip going around social media of him saying, well, we're going to require ID. And there's a couple of reasons for that. What is he looks like the biggest stupidest hypocrite in the world? Screaming about no voter ID, but all right, yeah, if you want to buy a lot of bananas, we've got to have ID. He was also involved in an embarrassing episode earlier this year. They had a huge blizzard in February, New York City. They had a lot of snow all over the place. So Zohran Mamdani asked New Yorkers to sign up to become emergency snow shovelers. Now, I grew up in the Northeast, and this is something a lot of kids did. In fact, a lot of kids had businesses. You would shovel snow for your neighbors, especially if they're elderly. I used to shovel snow for the family. And so getting volunteers to shovel snow, that's a normal thing. And he was asking, you know, people to help out. The thing is, if you wanted to shovel snow for New York City, you had to sign up and you had to show not one, not two, not three, not four, but five forms of ID. This is Zohran Mamdani. No voter ID, but you're buying groceries, ID. You want to shovel snow. You're a volunteer to shovel snow ID. In fact, five IDs. This was on the New York City Sanitation Department website. In order to register as an emergency snow shoveler, an applicant must provide two small photos.
Sised one to one and a half square inches. Two original forms of ID plus copies and their Social Security card to shovel snow. Zero ID required to vote. Now, who is Madame Zohran Mamdani's older sister politically? Nithya Raman. Nithya Raman. is only in the runoff because of a massive homeless voter scam here in Los Angeles, where mysteriously, thousands and thousands of homeless people outside her district voted for her and all the votes were counted at the last minute, and she surged past Spencer Pratt. I guarantee you that's what happened. I guarantee you that that's what happened. Thousands of homeless people. signed up and voted for Nithya Raman, the leading proponent to continue all these expensive failed homeless programs. She doesn't want voter ID either. They don't want voter ID because the Democratic turnout would drop significantly. You wouldn't have these last-minute surges anymore. You wouldn't have all these candidates coming back. and Nithya Raman's place from third place and making the finals. And now she could be mayor because Karen Bass is just as much a failure. And this is very common among the Democratic politicians. In 2024, the Democratic Party required a photo ID to attend the Democratic National Convention. Georgia Senator Jon Ossoff and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez have required people who attend their campaign events to show government-issued photo ID, even though they oppose voter ID. But again, it's all racist, it's discriminatory against poor people, against married women. It's just...
It's just so, it's so phony and transparently phony and so ridiculous. And people fall for this stuff or don't realize what's going on. But that's, that's, you got to flash your ID if you want to buy a head of lettuce at Zohran Mamdani's communist grocery store. All right, more coming up. You're listening to John Cobalt on demand from KFI AM 640. KFI AM 640 live everywhere on the IHeart radio app. John CoBelt Show continues. Ron from 3 to 6. We got the moist line coming up on Friday. What is today? I have no idea what today is Wednesday. I should know. Friday, two days from now, 877 moist 86, 877 moist 86, or do the talkback feature on the IHeart radio app. There's a lot of news about these. New Age communists, these democratic socialists. We were just talking about Zohran Mamdani and his stupid communist grocery stores claiming he can sell groceries to New York residents for 30% off. And Mr. No Voter ID when he asked, well, how are you going to stop people from buying in bulk and hoarding the food and reselling it and undercutting other grocery stores? He got nervous and he skittered off the stage, put some bureaucratic hack up there who said, well, we're going to use a library-esque thing. Library-esque thing, which means an ID card. Like the same ID card that you cannot use to guarantee the integrity of the voting system in New York City, but you could use to buy avocados because you don't want people hoarding avocados and reselling them. Now, we have our own version of this nonsense in Nithya Raman. And she has a lot of the same views as Zohran Mamdani. And I'm going to get to this after the news, Bruce Bielaski, who we had on the show recently. He's a long time. It's got involved in politics, and he's a writer. And he's written another piece in the California Post about the similarities between Rahman and Zohran Mamdani. And if she wins, you know, what she represents. Now, the DSA people, a few of them won elections around the country, Democratic primary elections. And one of them was Abdul El-Sayed. It's interesting how many of these people are foreigners or they have foreign-sounding names. And I'm telling you that's important because they don't seem to have any respect or any affection for the American system. They want to tear it down. And if you read the DSA platform, it is about tearing the whole American capitalist system down. I mean, they're about abolishing the Senate, for example, and the Supreme Court and ICE, of course. And I want to play you a little clip of DSA members. Now, these, somebody flagged this online. I guess this was from a Zoom meeting. There's three young women talking on the Zoom meeting.
And Justine, I'm going to get her name right. Justine Bateman is a filmmaker, and she posted the video clip. And she said, looking at it, I feel like I'm watching young women being indoctrinated into the Manson family. And if you look at the women, they're young white girls with long hair parted down in the middle. And they do look exactly like the Manson girls, if you've ever seen video. of what those girls were like when they got indoctrinated into the cult. And so this DSA is now the modern-day cult, minus the Manson murders. But it's the same thing. It's the glazed eye look that they have. And here, one of the DSA members had been to the DSA conference, and she's now explaining to the other two girls. the requirements that endorsed candidates have to adhere to. So play cut number two. This is actually something that we committed to at convention having. are endorsed candidates supporting the program. It's a requirement now. And so that'll be incorporated into our endorsement process. It sounds so radical, like abolish the Senate, abolish the Supreme Court, like, et cetera, et cetera. But it's really, it's not. Like, those are the things that need to happen. So whenever people are like, oh, my God, they want to get rid of the president, I was like, well, I don't know what we would call it in the future. We could call it the head honcho of whatever, you know, like it's like we might not have a president. The head honcho of whatever. That's one of the DSA girls, newly indoctrinated. 20-somethings, dumb as rocks. And they're discussing these new DSA requirements that if you run for office, you want the DSA endorsement, you have to agree to, I want to abolish the Senate, which is impossible to do practical. And abolish the Supreme Court. and really abolished the presidency. And so one of the girls said, yeah, yeah, yeah, we don't have to, well, you know, he wouldn't be called the president. He'd be called the head honcho of whatever. Now, the energy for this DSA movement, and this is real, is largely from young people, especially young women. The money is coming from... older, wealthier women as well. And then you have this foreign contingent of transplants or first generation who have absolutely no regard at all for no respect at all for what America is. And it's a strange brew, but there is vapid and as stupid. I can't believe they're able to stand up and talk at the same time. So I'm done they are. And we're going to talk more about this Abdul El-Sayed in Michigan because he got a lot of headlines. He's now the Democratic nominee there. And also I want to talk about this Bruce Bielessky column on Nithya Raman.
We have to deal with this. We're already dealing with it because the DSA has four seats on the city council. That's coming up next. Deborah Marks live in the KFI 24-hour newsroom. You've been listening to the John Cobalt Show podcast. You can always hear the show live on KFI AM 640 from 3 to 6 p.m. every Monday through Friday.
