The U.S. soccer podcast. I'm your host, Megan Klingeberg. And after interviewing so many dudes during this men's world cup, I'm so happy to be back with my U.S. women's national team players. I know the U.S. men's national team has changed how I think about myself, how I think about being an American, how I think about being on a team. It's one year out from that World Cup, and we're going to talk about the brightest prospects in U.S. soccer. You ready? I'm ready. Let's do it. The U.S. soccer podcast. Presented by Henko. Follow and listen on your favorite. platform. Joining me on the show right now is Alabama's U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville also going to be Alabama's next governor. It looks like. Senator, thank you so much for coming on. Good morning. How are you? I'm doing good. I'm doing good. And I just really just want to start real quick to ask, how's your campaign going? How do you feel about the campaign so far for governor? Well, it's going fine. You know, I've got another job. So I spend most of my time up here in D.C. I was in Montgomery on Monday and Orange Beach Monday afternoon and then came back up and we'll work the rest of the week. And I try to do one or two days a week in the state of Alabama. And then, of course. four or five up here in D.C. So, but it's good. We've got a lot of good reception. And we had our GOP meeting last Friday night. That went well. And again, I think we've got a good ticket. We've got a lot of good Republicans that are going to be in new positions next year. And I'm looking forward to working with them if we can somehow get enough people to vote for us in November. Yeah, and I do want to talk more about your governor's race in a moment, but you mentioned you're spending a lot of days in D.C. You're trying to get the Save America Act passed, of course, but it looks like, and I know this frustrates you, it looks like the Senate Majority Leader John Doon is about to send you guys on vacation without passing the Save America Act. And I know you're not really a big fan of that. Yeah, no, we do things by habit up here. We should do things by what we get done. And we hadn't gotten a lot done yet in the last. And really, President Trump's year and a half that he's been in office, he's made progress, and we've done a few things. We've got the big beautiful bill, and we've been able to pretty much fund the government for the first time going to a regular budget. It took us forever to get DHS funded because the Democrats just, they hate ICE and they want more open borders. But at the end of the day, We haven't gotten a lot done. We've got some people confirmed. We're trying to get Todd Blanche, who was here in my office yesterday, trying to get him across the finish line. I saw where Susan Collins said she wasn't going to vote for him. I don't understand these people. You run as a Republican, but you don't vote as a Republican. That's really put us in harm's way. We've probably got a dozen people up here that are called themselves Republicans, but they lean more of the Democratic side. And we just can't get anything done for the America First agenda or the MAGA agenda. And it's a stalemate. And the Democrats are just trying to run the clock out on us. And again, this Save America could really save America. It could save a republic. It could save.

our kids and the future of our kids, but we can't get enough people to vote for it. It's just absolutely amazing to me that we can't get it done. Yeah, and you've been calling for them to get rid of the filibuster. It doesn't look like that's going to happen. I have to admit, I'm frustrated that he won't at least bring it up for a vote. I mean, what's the reason to not at least put people on record? Even if it doesn't pass, you can put people on record. Is it because of what you said that there are some Republicans that don't want to admit it, but maybe you wouldn't vote for it either? Yeah, we've actually voted on the Save America Act a few times, mostly in reconciliation. I know God bless Lindsey Graham's soul, but he had it on the floor about a month ago, and it was voted. We got 49 votes, and that's not even close to getting it done. Again, it's just... There's so much Trump derangement syndrome up here. Don't worry about the Democrats. Just worry about Republicans. I mean, we can't even get enough votes ourselves to even think about busting the filibuster. And again, the filibuster folks, if you're listening, in the Senate, you have to get 60 votes. But that's only been in the Senate for 40, 50 years. It was just a rule they put in to try to give a little bit more power to the Senate. It's not in the Constitution. So we could vote it out with 51 votes. Okay, we're going to do away with the filibuster because we want to get things done. The Democrats are not going to agree to anything. And if we could get 51 votes, we could go to 51 votes on anything instead of 60. But we can't, you know, we got four or five people that says, you know, we just believe in the tradition of the Senate. Well, heck, I don't work for the Senate. I work with the people Alabama and the people of this country. And they're not allowing us to get things done for the American people. And I'm going to tell you, it's going to cost us in the long run. You've got Thom Tillis and Susan Collins and Lisa Murkowski and John Cornyn. Bill Cassidy, people now that just, they despise President Trump. And so they refuse to give in to get anything done. Speaking with U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville, he is also most likely going to be Alabama's next governor, as he did win the Republican nomination for governor. Do you think, talking about getting things done in the Senate, do you think they actually will, this Senate committee will hold Dr. Anthony Fauci in contempt because he pled the fifth 111 times? Yeah. Well, I know Rand Paul is trying to get it done, hold him in contempt up here. I was in all those hearings. I'm on the health committee, which did all the hearings for Dr. Anthony Fauci back in 2021, 2022.

He led this country down the wrong road, and he lied to us. And it's not that we're saying he's lying. It has been proven. It has been written. We found all the evidence. And, of course, why did Joe Biden pardon him? Because he sided with the Democrats. And the Biden administration on closing the country down, closing their schools down, you know, forcing people to take this vaccine that's probably kill more people than the virus itself at the end of the day. So he'll be held in contempt. He has a federal pardon. Now, he does not have a state pardon. And I've visited with Steve Marshall. Monday about possibly given an opportunity for people, the families of people that lost loved ones from Alabama to put a state lawsuit from Dr. Anthony Fauci. I think whether he goes to jail or not or has they ever pay any money, he should pay the price of having to go in a courtroom day in and day out all over this country and listen to the people's talk about losing. people that they really loved, couldn't go to weddings, couldn't go to funerals, all the things that he created. And he should have to go through that. And again, hopefully we can do that in the very near future in our state. Because Steve Marshall thinks there's a good opportunity to get some lawsuits going. Yeah, and I know he's not the only one, Louisiana, Florida. They've also announced investigations into that. Most likely he's just going to keep pleading the fifth. And I'm sure, you know, I'm sure you've called Dr. Anthony Fauci a complete joke. But I also saw, and I loved your post on this, he called Zohran Mamdani out of New York City a complete joke because he wants some type of ID so people don't buy in bulk when it comes to his government-run grocery stores. But he doesn't support voter ID. So you were kind of pointing out his hypocrisy there. Yeah. Democrats say you step all over themselves. When they come up with a rule for one thing and then contradict it with another, as you just said, you're going to go get some of this free groceries in these very cheap grocery stores. You've got to show an ID. Well, come on. But one of the most important things that you can do in this country is catch your ballot. There's no voter ID in a lot of these states. And the reason we need this, people, is. is this. In our state, we have voter ID. So it's not that big a deal. But there's 15 states in the states in the United States of America today that a Republican cannot win. because the fix is in. They have these voter ID machines, I mean, these voter machines, no voter ID, mail ballots. They vote for about a month. It takes forever to count these things, and they're going to have enough votes to let the Democrat win. It's just unfortunate. And so we will never have an opportunity to get a Christian, a Republican.

American citizen in any kind of position in about 15 states. And it's growing every year. So that's the reason we need to say enough's enough. Everybody is going to have to do voter ID, one day voting, no mail in balance unless it's absentee. You have to have it notarized, just like we do in the state of Alabama, and get to a fair election and let people really know where this country stands when it comes to voting in this country. I'll tell you that people ask me in our state all the time, Coach. You know, we didn't have a lot of people vote. And I believe that we didn't have a lot of people vote in the primary because they don't think their vote counts because they think that, you know, illegals are going to cancel their vote. And in a lot of cases, they're right. And not as much in our state, but some other states. And so we need to keep pushing this. Try to get this across the goal line. We're going to attach the Save America Act to the next reconciliation, which is a 51 vote. Now, as I said earlier, we don't have 51 votes, but at least we can try. At least we can try to get it across the goal line. Speaking with U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville, also running for governor in Alabama. On that note as well, I kind of want to move on to Alabama stuff real quick. But you have your opponent, former Senator Doug Jay Jones. He wants to phase out school choice. He also wants to have a moratorium on data centers. And I guess he's against bringing the National Guard of Montgomery and all of this stuff. What are your thoughts? I mean, it sounds disastrous for Alabama, what your opponent wants to do. Oh, yeah. Well, I'm not running against Doug Jay Jones. I'm running against an ideology that is sweeping the country, and it's socialism and communism. And it starts with, number one, open borders. They want to open the borders. They want more people here where they can remain in power. Doug Jay Jones is one of those. You know, when I beat him, he went to work for a law firm. He didn't move back to Alabama. He worked for a law firm up here in D.C. in a sense been fired for some reason. I don't know why. But now he's running for governor. And he is totally opposite of anything that I believe in. I believe in our state and our country. I don't want to change it to socialism. And I want law and order. And we're going to have that. That's going to be my first thing on the agenda. We're going to have the better education. To be able to choose the school you want to go to, to me, that's an American idea. And that is freedom of speech. That's freedom of doing what you want to. I used to tell all my players, Happy, that, listen, the country doesn't owe you anything other than an opportunity. And that opportunity is to have an education, especially where you feel like you fit in. And so I am all for having an opportunity. Kids go to the school that they want to go to. But there's so many things. that we have to do in our state to get us on track. But, you know, this socialist, communist agenda that all these Democrats have now, all of them do, and he's one of them, it's not going to work in our state. And, you know, he can keep pushing it all he wants. But, again, it's just, it's not him. It's the ideas that are behind him that would just overwhelm the state of Alabama. If he were to even have a chance to get elected.
