Calling out JOHN THUNE for lack of Action, Your calls, & an interview with a Candidate for County Commissioner

Guys, we need 60 votes to get this done. When are we going to have 60 votes in the Senate? And if the Democrats ever regain power, they're going to nuke the filibuster on day one, and they're going to add four more Democratic senators in D.C. and Puerto Rico. That's not a conspiracy theory. This is what Democratic leadership continues to say over and over and over again. From Nancy Pelosi to Kamala Harris in Nashville last Friday. So why don't Republicans have the stones to do what needs to be done? I thought we wanted to save this country. You know, we got Senator Haggerty and Marsha Blackburn, and they tell us that they're fighting for it. They don't want to go on this recess. John Thune says, we're going on recess. Yeah, the president's calling me. The president's upset, but sorry, we've done enough here. And I would argue, Mr. John Thune, you haven't done anything at all. And in fact, you were exactly who we thought you were going to be when you got the Senate Majority Leader position. Trash. Absolute hot garbage. And there's no getting around it anymore. You can't whip your Republicans into shape. Chuck Schumer doesn't have this issue. Is John Thune weaker than Chuck Schumer? Well, yes, by all metrics that we have available, he absolutely is. Awesome. Awesome. We need Republicans that will fight. And if John Thune's not that guy, get them out. Oh, guys, gee whiz. We voted on the Save America Act five times. Do it again. Do the nuke and the filibuster. Get people on the record. Let us know who we need to primary. Make it a matter of record for the public. Every conservative I know wants that filibuster nuked. But they won't do it. Can you guys just blame the Democrats for crying in the mud? I mean, we could. It would absolutely make things easier. But if we really want to fix the problems in this country, we need to look a little inward too. And that starts with Senate Republicans. I mean, we had Haggerty on the phone just a couple weeks ago, and I wasn't necessarily mad at Haggerty. But even Haggerty hit me with, we got to keep fighting so we can take this country back. And I'm like, from who? Who are we taking the country back from? We have the House, we have the Senate, we have the Supreme Court, we have the presidency. As voters, we've showed up and given these guys everything that they've asked for. So we got to do something. We have to do something. And it doesn't seem like John Thune's the guy for the job. So I think that the time to ramp up the pressure to get that five senators to call a meeting to oust this guy is now. I mean, I don't know if it'll help in the grand scheme of things because John Thune will still be in the Senate. Then he'll assuredly be a no vote on nuking the filibuster or on the Save America Act, just like Thom Tillis, just like Susan Collins, just like Mitch, Mitch McConnell, where's he been? But John Thune is a weak leader. Can we just make it about the Democrats? First is there are no Democrats. We're going to vote for this. All 47 voted against the SAVE Act five times. So let's make this an issue in the campaign. How about we go out and turn our fire on Democrats and make it about them opposing the SAVE Act? So we're not, that's the point. So we're not getting any Democrats. The second thing is, did they expect any Democrats? Did you walk in there thinking you're going to get some Democrats?

When their whole modus operandi here is Orange Man bad, opposite of what Orange Man says. My position today is the opposite of what the Orange Man says. We are not getting rid of the legislative filibuster. The votes aren't there to do that. I've made it abundantly clear many, many times. And it seems to me some days that I'm the only one here who can count to 50 in this town. Oh, so you're just going to belittle us, talk down to us. Got it. Got it. Remember the power dynamics here. He works for us, not the other way around. And I don't know if you know, maybe you saw this, maybe he didn't. But his own voters in South Dakota, he had a little, he had a little party there. He had a little cookout. They didn't seem too pleased with John Thune either. So let's force the vote. for the filibuster nuking, and then let's know which Republicans we need to primary, because it seems like a lot of Republicans talk a big game, but maybe they're talking a big game because they know that that vote's never going to come up. So let's force the issue. John Thune doesn't want to force the issue. He's like, guys, I've talked to everybody in the back, so we don't need to waste our time. Time is a commodity. That's what he said. He said that a few weeks ago. Time is a commodity in the U.S. Senate. And we just don't have the time to keep, keep doing this. But we have time for vacation. Got it. We don't have the votes to get rid of the filibuster. And there aren't, we aren't flipping 10 Democrats to vote for the Save America. First is, we don't have the votes. The Democrats aren't going to vote for it. Burper durper do. Deal with it, America. While we watch the Democrat Socialist rise, we watch younger voters get turned off by your weakness and your ineffectiveness. Mike Drop, hosted by former Navy SEAL Mike Ridland. How would you characterize your prowess? I'd say my style is that I just kind of outwork everybody until I get there because I'm not a quitter. It's just you. And that's yourself. Everything else is team-oriented. The motivation, it was a sort of anger at myself for being weak. That ends up being the driving factor. That anger, that pride, that ego, I think it's a muscle. Your favorite black-pilled Republican, conservative, calling back in. I heard you holler or shout me out the other day that I was the guy that called and kind of had a black-pilled take on everything. And I don't necessarily think that's the case. But what you're talking about, I called a little bit about Dejard, and we need to get rid of them. And if we're not going to get a good Republican, we need to vote for a Democrat or whoever, an independent, and reset the table. And I think John Thune, like you're singing the other side of the song today.

John Thune is an example of if the Republican Party runs John Thune in that state, I'm voting for somebody besides John Thune because he is a mess. He gets nothing done. He's riding a gravy train, and then he wants to go to recess. He's the same thing as Desjardle. Dejardle is the same thing as him. They don't do anything, but here's a talking point. Here's where we differ. Here's where we differ. If you replace John Thune with a Democrat... then that Democrat's going to nuke the filibuster. That Democrat is going to force a pathway to citizenship for all the illegal aliens. That Democrat is going to make D.C. and Puerto Rico a state. And then we'll have four more Democratic senators. We'll never be able to get the Senate back. So again, I would say as trash as John Thune is, as trash as Susan Collins is or Lisa Murkowski or even Mitch McConnell, they're still better than a Democrat. Then what's the solution? Because that's what keeps happening. The GOP keeps running these weak candidates, and there's never any consequence. There's never any accountability. The solution is grassroots mobilization. And I know it's not what you want to hear. But the solution is using your own social influence that you have, all of us, and creating and mobilizing a movement for good candidates. Now, I don't know what that looks like. I don't know what that looks like on the ground in South Dakota. But I would imagine this part of the solution here is I don't think replacing John Thune with a Democrat is going to help us. Just like I don't think replacing Susan Collins with a Democrat is going to help us because that leads them closer to their goals of ultimately impeaching Trump or nuking the filibuster, being able to push through whatever they want to push through. Then we never regain power. So, like, if the thought process is vote for a Democrat, so that way we can fix it, that'll be the last time that we get to vote and have power. Maybe not if they're still a majority, right? Because you put an awful candidate in, right, a Democrat, and they're so bad that the next go-around, everybody's like, well, we're not voting for that again, and they kick them out. I don't know. We'll be to see what grassroots looks like here tomorrow with Monty Fritz. But the vote blue, the vote blue, I'm really discouraged. The vote blue, no matter who, they don't care who the candidate is. They don't. But it's about the middle. It's about all the people in the middle that the blue policies make people's lives miserable. And so you deal with a little bit of that. That's why we got Trump back. Biden was so bad for four years. Everybody, all the middle of people were like, we're not doing that again. But during all that, you had Joe Manchin as a stopgap from them nuking the filibuster or they would have done it last time. No, you're not wrong about that either. I just think we're pretty far gone. We're pretty cooked. Everybody is too afraid to be more extreme with things on the right. They think they're going to get there by running through the middle. See, I would just say as bad as you think things are, they could absolutely be worse.

They could. They could. We'll see. We'll see what happens tomorrow with Frick. He should be governor of the state of Tennessee. I have a feeling because John Rose couldn't get out of the way that we're going to be stuck with Marsha Blackburn. I mean, that may be the case. And I would, again, I would just say Blackburn's going to be better than a Democrat. I guess. I mean, a Democrat isn't going to do anything on the illegal immigration front. Do you think she really is either? Or is it just a good talking point to get some votes? I mean, I think that we already have a micro experiment of what a Democrat looks in charge, what looks like in charge when you have Freddie O'Connell running Nashville the way he's running it right now. Oh, yeah, he sucks. And he's a moderate Democrat. He's got a moderate Democrat. That's how he positions himself. Well, that's a lot. That's the whole point, though. We agree on a lot. I'm just to the point where it's like if I can't win, nobody wins is kind of the energy that I'm at at this point because it's not working for me to keep putting these rich Republicans in power that bang their chest and beat on their chest and say all the right things and then get into control and do nothing. That's not making my life any better. It's just helping them out. But if we flip the chess board, right, because we're upset and we're angry, we're going to lose some pieces under the couch and then we're never going to be able to play again. I don't know. So they have to create ideology, wokeism.

They have to create something that isn't there. They use Marxist ideas or try to convince your audience that men can be women or that Cunningham is wrong because she stands for women. Well, guess what? If I was a woman, I would not want anybody competing in the NCAA or in professional women's sports with men. I don't care if you were born a man. God made you a man. You are going to always be a man. You could take whatever manly, earthly drugs you want. You will never be a woman, period. God made you either a man or a woman. End of story. Okay? You can believe in the Bible or not. And Chris, you know, I listen to you, and I get annoyed with the guys that call you up and attack you. Not... on your ideas, but they attack you on your character. You're not a racist. You're saying what they are saying. They are telling us they want to overtake the United States through immigration. How many videos do I need to play of them saying this in places like Dearborn or in places like Texas or in New York? I mean, Sneko, a popular live streamer is like in New York. They're doing a big Muslim prayer. He's like, inshallah, this will be all of America. It's like, okay. I mean, I just believe them. I believe them when they tell me this. Listen, I got a nickname for that guy in New York. I call him chicken nuggets because that's what he has. He doesn't have, he's not a real man. He's a chicken, he has chicken nuggets. And you know what? If he met some pure believers, Christians. And he was surrounded by 1.5 million Serbian Christians, and he was chanting the way he was chanting in New York, he would look for the closest hole to crawl into because he's a coward. Okay, he's a coward. And Zohran Mamdani's another coward. And Brendan Johnson's a coward. And what's your name, Francesca Hong or Chung, she's another maniac. Imagine white supremacy is the cause of everything that she dislikes, even including her own marriage. She can't stand her husband, can't stand her kid because he's half white, can't go a restaurant. Listen, I got message for all you guys that hate the United States. Leave. Go to Cuba, Venezuela, Russia, China. You'll enjoy Mongolia. Go. Take all the leftists in Canada with you. You're absolutely right. I was on the radio. I tried to get on the radio this morning. The accusation out of Toronto was that a conservative MP, that's a Republican in Canada. He said all of you liberals are linking us to the Trumps. You're saying that conservative Canadian politicians are Trumpists. So the lady in Montreal, Trudy, she says, well, the conservatives are MAGA. I'm like, yeah, so is that Biden? It's good. They're a conservative movement. The policy is conservative. It means limiting the borders. Stop giving out freebies $80,000 a year to people that show up here that have no political reason to be here other than economic. Stop with the DEI. Stop with the wokeism.

Just stop. Just go back to where we were. We were happy before. In the 60s, the 70s, the 80s, the 90s, even 2000. None of this was an issue because the conservative movement has ideas. We want to build a better country. We want to build industry. We want to build trade. We want to be able to create industry within our own countries. We want to trade with Canada. We had a great agreement. What is the left ever produced? ideology. So they know, but the conservatives are pushing an agenda to make you, Chris, and me, richer, better, happier, safer. That means that I believe that we should have a military. I believe we should close borders. I believe that the government should remain as is. The president is there for a reason. You had a revolution in your country that the British would have killed the founding fathers. Had they lost that, had the founding fathers lost, and your armies had, your colonial armies had lost, they would have killed all of you guys. You will be subjugated by the British. The British are no friends. So if you want to talk about colonialism and the control of people, why don't you just focus on the entire planet? And by the way, I'll just see this one thing. This issue of BLMism, accusing white people of being racist all the time, go back in history and learn what type of slave trades commenced in the turn. Like in the, we're talking 2,000 years ago. People from Northern Africa and the Arab world were... subjugating the Europeans and enslaving women and bringing them to Turkey and elsewhere around the Middle East and selling women from Europe into that type of slavery lifestyle. And in Africa, we have the same thing. Who was selling their own people to people that were in the slave trade? I'll leave that up to all of your scholars that call you a racist for this thing. You know, history, Chris. I'm a history major. History. History is a little, it's a little problematic to those on the left, Tony. We've got to leave it there, man. I appreciate you, as always. We want to switch gears real quick, still on the same election thread. But I want to talk about county commissioner. Most people in Sumner County, they could name the mayor. They could probably name the sheriff. But if you ask them what the county commissioner actually does, you just probably get a blank stare, right? I may be one of those people that gives a blank stare. So we want to fix that today. Donya Kent is joining the show. She's friends with a friend of the show, Joanna Daniels, who's been on a lot. She's fighting to get a lot of the books out of the libraries in Sumner County. Donya Kent, welcome to the show. How are you?

I'm well. How are you? I am good. All right. So give me the rundown. I want to walk through the job. I want to talk about the real power it has. And I want to talk about why you want it. But can we start with who you are? Who is Donya Kent? Oh, gosh. I'm just me. I'm a mom of three boys. I work in the medical field. I started going to library board meetings, and then I got really mad. So that's a little bit about me. It's like I just, you know, I have a mom. I work, you know, just a regular person like anybody else. So, yeah. How long have you lived in Tennessee? Oh, yeah. So I'm a native. I'm a unicorn as what people would call me because I was born when Baptist Hospital was Baptist, I believe. So, yeah, it was born in Nashville. And then I was raised in my elementary youth school years in Dulitzville. And then my high school years in Sumner County. So I went to Beach High School and got married in Hendersonville. Like I married a guy from Hendersonville, got married and all the things and did life with him. And then I moved to Portland after our divorce. So, yeah. Like, yeah. And now you want to be the county commissioner for District 5? I do. Okay, so walk me through this because you're running as an independent, correct? Yeah. Okay, and you're going up against the incumbent Republican. So why are you running as an independent and why do you want this job? Okay, so I'm running as an independent because the GOP has saved that like because the way I voted on the primaries, because I didn't vote in two primaries, I'm not allowed to run as a Republican, even though my voting record ever since I was 18 says I'm Republican. the voting red ever since I could walk, I think, or talk. So, yeah, so they, because 93% of Sumner County is not bona fide people, nobody can just go run for office. So therefore, I have to run as an independent. And what made me want to do this was I see how our leadership is and how they vote for themselves. Like, for instance, this past, the past time that we had a budget. Pass or whatever a meeting, a budget meeting. My commissioner voted to give himself a raise. And he voted for, you know, for the library situation. You know about that. So he appointed members onto the library board that vote in favor of the explicit materials in the children's sections, you know. And so it just angered me because that's how I got started with library board meetings. And I just was so angry because... Why would people not want to protect our children? Why would people not want to stand up for the innocent? And I'm strong in that. I'm a mom. So like any mom would know to defend their babies. And I just felt so passionate about that. And then when people would talk, it was like it was still on deaf ears. Like when people go up there and they want to talk about term limits or they want to talk about the library board or they wouldn't talk about whatever. It's falling on people who don't respond or care. And it just angered me. So I want to give people a voice. We're talking with Donya Kent. She is running for Sumner County Commissioner, District 5. So you said that they wouldn't let you run as a Republican because you didn't vote in the last two primaries, correct? Correct. So what made you sit out of the last two primaries? And then from there, what changes today? Why should people be voting in the primary tomorrow? And how do you kind of resolve that? Well, I think number one is people don't really know about the primaries and when they're going on. They're not really well advertised, you know. So sometimes you miss it because you don't know that that's going on. And what's really publicized is the general elections, right? Those are fully pushed. So if you miss a primary, it's because you don't know about it or you have to know somebody that's in it. Or, you know, for me, like life is happening. So I didn't vote because life was happening. But I won't do that anymore. I'm learning my lesson. Let's just say that. So what does District 5 look like to you day to day? And where and how can you, do you think you can improve it? Oh, well, I think day to day, just our growth. Like we are, I call, like, where I live in the community, a farm town. Like, you know, you have Best Page, Westmoreland, Portland, you know, we're farmers, like, right? They're all farmers. And... Farmers, if you know anything about them, they, you know, they don't make a whole lot of money. You know, they make what they can to get by. But sometimes, you know, on a bad season, they don't make a lot. So it's like, why would you tax our farmers? Why would you annex the land? Why would you do that? Because you're only going to raise our property taxes. And so I see the growth as a problem. I see the grant, the water grant as a problem for our community because that's not getting fixed.

I see the taxes that are too high, they've doubled, and they say property taxes hasn't risen, but... How is that so when you, you know, raise a school budget or you do, you know, raise another budget or you raise something else? That all affects our property taxes. We then have to pay for that in the county. So I see a lot of that. And pinching pennies is what we're doing and as a community. And they're suffering. Like, you know, so I see that and I want to be able to stop that. Will you have the power when it comes to the budget, the taxes, the zoning, the roads if you win this election, this primary for District 5's County Commissioner? I don't know if I'd have the power because I'm only one of 24, but I can definitely let the people talk, right? So if the people come to me and if I win this, they can speak to me about things. And I can bring it before the other 23 commissioners. And I can allow discourse to happen. And I can allow those things to happen. Whereas the county commissioner that we have now, he always calls the question. He shuts down debate. He shuts down solutions. And it's... It's very upsetting. And I just sit here and I'm like, Charlie Kirk, you know, I look at him and he was a man of discourse. He was like, we have to have conversation. If we don't have conversation, that's when violence happens, right? And I'm not saying like this is volatile or anything like that because that's not what it is. But it's like when you shut down discourse, though, you can't find a solution. And Charlie Kirk, when he was speaking, he would help people see solution and rational reasoning. Yeah, so I look at this and I'm like, why would you shut that down? Because we need to be able to find solutions to problems. So I'm going to be a solution to a problem. Now, I don't know if I can make it happen, but I'm going to try. So when you're looking at the issues in Sumner County, you know, people hear County Commission and they just think of it as another layer of government. Where do you see the real power sitting in Sumner County? Oh, gosh. So in Sumner County, I see the school board director, you know, and I see how he works and I see local governments. So like when people are wondering about what our local governments do, they control all the power. You know, like people are like, oh, the federal and the state, they do, you know, like our gun rights and things like that. But when it comes to your taxes, when it comes to your education, when it comes to your roads and your infrastructure, it's the county that. that has that vote, that has that say on how you get taxed, how things fluctuate. Commissioners do have the most power in that. But, yeah. So with Sumner County growing so fast, what's the biggest land use or infrastructure pressure you see in District 5 and the county? Well,

Okay, so we have a water issue, but I feel like we're building so much that we forget about. So the instances, we have to approve the budgets and everything, but we have a development issue. So what that means is like all these people are coming in, they're building, they just sold, they just annexed some land, and they're building a new store or something. And that's fine, you know, that's fine. But then at the same time, we're having this water. issue. So it's like our water, we don't have it. So we're giving our resources away to things that we can't support. And then we're having to pay for that. And we get taxed for that. And so it's, it's very frustrating. Very frustrating. We're talking with Donya Kent. She is running for Sumner County's commissioner for District 5. Can you name two or three concrete things you'd push for in your first year if you got elected? Oh, term limits for sure. My opponent has voted 13 times against term limits just to go on the ballot. I want people to have their voice. Definitely taxes. I don't want to increase taxes at all. And I want to push for annexation reform where they annex the land and they tax us for that. Then the city then sells it or builds on it and then we get taxed that too. So it's just really gross. It's just gross the way that it's. being developed in the way that they're pushing things through. And it's like you forget about us. Like we're the people. Like the Constitution said, we the people. We the people have a right to have our voice, not taken away from us. We the people have a right to stand up for what is right. And we the people, when we're united, we can do amazing things. when you're not self-seeking in office, you need to serve. Like, your job when you're in office is to serve, not to be self-seeking. And when you don't have term limits, I feel like if the president and the governor have to have term limits, then you, you yourself become a leech. Like, if you don't, if you don't do term limits, like you become leit. Like, look at what's happened in Congress and in the Senate, you know. It's like they want to die there. I don't want to die in office. Good God. Like, let somebody else come in and have a new idea. I don't want that. I just want to try to make an impact and change something and make something better in a broken society and a broken system. So, yeah. Donya Kent is running for County Commissioner, District 5.
