16 segmentsMike Drop, hosted by former Navy CEO, Mike Ridland. How would you characterize your prowess? I'd say my style is that I just kind of outwork everybody until I get there, because I'm not a quitter. It's just you, and that's yourself. Everything else is team-oriented. The motivation, it was a sort of anger at myself for being weak. That ends up being the driving factor. That anger, that pride, that ego, I think it's a muscle. It gets stronger. When you take that voice seriously, you start to change your life. Mike Drop, follow and listen on your favorite platform. They wouldn't let me in either one of them. Well, no, I'm not. What? Did you do you weren't in Boy Scouts at all? No. Did you do anything like that or anything? No, no, I was in a gang. Yeah, right. Maybe like an old-fashioned gang, like the Fons or something. Yeah, we rode our bicycles, you know, and put cards on the box on the stomach motorcycle. Oh, we were rough and tough. Yeah. Oh, man. Yeah, I was in, well, let's see, it starts with, what was it, Cub Scouts, then Bear Scouts, then Weeblows, then Boy Scouts. By high school, I was just kind of not. interested anymore, you know. Scouting's good for kids. Oh, yeah, I agree. I mean, I learned a lot from it. My, but you see, I have a twin sister, so she was in Girl Scouts. I was in Boy Scouts. And I don't remember I'm having a problem with it. What a novel idea. You know, I don't remember anyone ever caring. It's like, yeah, so, that's good. Anyway, let's end the show like we usually do. We have Yeffy's Monster Rewind.
That time of the show where I kind of recap what we covered on the show today and remind you if you missed any of it live with the podcast, we'll be up on the website wgow.com. Someone on the text line complained. I wasn't talking enough Chattanooga today. But at the beginning of the show, I was. I had talked about a specific church kind of near the church that I go to. I do not go to this one, but... I talked about how I was uncomfortable that one of the local Chattanooga churches has decided to just specifically endorse a Republican candidate in a Republican primary. And often I talk about the role of government in our lives and in this country. I think we should talk about the role of the church. If you are leading a church, is that the proper role of your church to start getting involved in primary politics? I would say no. Now, if you're a pastor, you can have an opinion. You want to endorse on your own time, but this is specifically at the pulpit we're really talking about. During a Sunday service, you can talk about issues. Of course. If there is something that is going on that is antithetical to the biblical teachings, then yes, talk about it. You should. You should fight back against the rot in our culture. But when you start getting involved in endorsing specific candidates, especially in a Republican primary or so, I just, now all that does is turn people off and distracts from the message of the gospel, I think. But we talked about it, the podcast of that segment's up. We have the Tennessee bullet points as well, the top stories from around the state, including Marsha Blackburn. She released a poll that shows her very much in the lead, not too surprising. So I had the details in the bullet points. We also talked about some. Some of the hypocrisy of the Democrat Socialists. As you know, one of our U.S. senators, Marsha Blackburn, very supportive of the Save America Act. And on X, she pointed out the hypocrisy of Zohran Mamdani, who they need an ID to buy in bulk at a government grocery store. But they don't want an ID to vote. And she said, look, that doesn't make any sense. Now, Zohran Mamdani did kind of back off from that. Here's what he said. And we're talking about a city-run grocery store, one in each borough, which, by the way, you do not need an ID to shop at no matter what you've just heard in the news of today. We're talking about actually addressing the question of skyrocketing grocery prices. So on Mom Dottie calls himself a socialist to believe him. I mean, he really just jumped right into the socialist stuff. All we're going to have, government runs stores. I mean, that's just like right out of the playbook. So we talked about that. The podcast is up. We had our sports monster segment of the day with Quake. So you can check out that segment. Sport talk coming up next 3 to 7 p.m. We have Victoria Coates on. She's a national security foreign policy expert with the Heritage Foundation. She thinks Iran kind of running out of time. The economic sanctions are working. I hope she's right. I hope she's right on that. We also talked a little bit about what happened in Spain.
where migrants flooded over the border there and what exactly led to that. So it was a good conversation. That interview is up. We also talked about, like I said, Sophie Cunningham. Now we have protesters showing up to our games because she said men don't belong in women's sports. And that's where we are in this country. The good news is I do think the backlash to a lot of that stuff has grown. And Cunningham will probably get more support. In the end, really do. As long as she sticks to her position, which I really hope she does. I think she will. I think she will. So we talked about that as well. The podcast of that segment is up. We took your text messages on the text monster. 423-267-1023. Thanks to Captain Max for producing today. Thanks to you for listening. Sport Talk, as you know, is coming up next.
