This is Daybreak on 925 Fox News right all along. I'm your host, Jason Jay Jones, and Rob Stevenson here with me today as we are discussing Cape Coral. And the fact that they are somewhat having a $1.6 million shortfall, we talked to the city manager. He says they'll come up with a budget they always do. But right now, yes, there's some situations that they're dealing with when they don't raise any fees or millages. So one of the conversations they're having is raising. A certain fee. Here's Wink News with the story. Tonight, emotional parents say they're headed to City Hall. That's because Cape Coral is considering increasing fees for Parks and Rec. At least one league says they may have to shut down. They are talking about Cape American baseball and their fees at the park going from $2,000 to $24,000. Cape Youth Football will go from 1,500 to almost 12,000. Cape Coral soccer projected increases more than 53,000. And these are organizations that can barely survive. When you talk about like Cape American baseball, it's already like 150 to 200 bucks for these kids to play. If it went from 2000, up to 20. $24,000, it would be upwards of $1,200 for a kid to be on the team for one season. What would that cause to do? It would either cause undue stress on parents and their financial budgeting. And by the way, when it comes to youth sports and things like Cape Youth football and hockey to all these things, cheer as well as one of those things, parents will do everything. They'll still pay it. And I think the city knows that. bigger issue. And I think what we really got to really kind of dial this down to is that the parents are fighting a shift. They're saying that the fields should remain a shared public good. The way our taxpayers go to funding those fields to keeping those fields up, to keeping those fields good, and not turn it into a user fee system that now the taxes are going to get passed on to the, I'm sorry, the fees will get passed on to the parents. And what's that going to happen? These organizations could
Shut down, the parents could not be able to afford it outside of their budget. And when you eliminate youth sports, you increase youth crimes. And when you increase youth crimes, you're going to have an issue even more. So youth sports are vital to this country and to this country and to Southwest Florida. And as somebody who's been a part of Cape Youth or Cape Junior, listen, they won't survive if you take their fees from 2000 to 12,000. They won't survive. But taxpayers shouldn't indefinitely subsidize Private League's field time. Full cost recovery is honest budgeting. And I think that that's what the city of Cape Coral is being faced with right now. Each and every one of these players and parents that goes and plays on this field is a taxpayer whose taxes go to the maintenance of these fields. Well. Now. Lights water and maintenance aren't free and somebody has to pay. Right. And we have been paying it for many, many years. And now they want to tax the parent and ultimately hurt the kid when it comes to raising these fees because you're going to ask real quick, well, that kid used to play a lot of youth football. What happened? His parents couldn't afford it. Oh, so that's why his mugshots all over the 5 o'clock news? Exactly why his mugshots are. Well, let me offer a solution here. If the leagues can't cover the real cost, maybe. Maybe the model needs private sponsorships or fewer travel teams instead of just automatic underwriting. Right. Let's cut down on the amount of kids. And when you think about that, they already fundraises for thousands and thousands of dollars to support their mission. I'm curious what you think about it. Jose from Cape Coral. Go ahead. You're on daybreak, Jose. Good morning, guys. Great show. I'll tell you what I think. I'm projecting a lot of fat kids in the future. So you think without this you're going to have kids that get fat and lazy and sit on their computers all day? Yes, sir, exactly. Hit the hell on the head. You know, it's already about enough that, you know, 23 and a half hours of the day, they're stuck on the boob tube on the hand. You know what I mean? Electronics are just, yeah, they need to get active. They need to get out there, get some sunshine, you know, get back to nature. Right, thank you. You know, he's right. The other side of this spectrum that he just made me think of when we're sitting here talking about it. Cape Coral and when it comes to Pop Warner football, it used to be you had to live in the district that you play in, but they took that roll out. So now if Cape Youth and Cape Junior, which are the two Pop Warner football leagues in Cape Coral, can't afford their fields, where are those players going to go to the other leagues? you're going to lose the money. Cape Coral will lose the tax dollars involved in that. Those kids won't play there. They won't spend money there. They won't go to the restaurants there. They'll go to the restaurants in Fort Myers, the restaurants in Lehigh. I got Debbie on the phone right now. Debbie's calling me from Fort Myers. Go ahead. What's your thoughts on this, Debbie?
Well, it's kind of along the same lines. I've had children in youth sports all growing up, and I have grandchildren now. But let's say, for instance, that these organizations can't pay the exorbitant fees, so they cease to exist. Then the city of Cape Coral doesn't have anybody paying these fees, which is what you kind of went towards. So how are they going to make up the shortfall? They're saying they have to increase these fees. to make up for the deficit, but if they don't have the people paying the fees, they're still not going to make up for the deficit. Right, and you can't, in no organization, you're right, Debbie, there's no organization that's going to be like, yes, right now, I am going to, uh, and I'm going to, uh, uh, uh, You know, pay this fee just because when you get to 2,000 to 12,000, you're going to put them into another level. And when it comes to the baseball, listen to what these parents said to Wink News yesterday. Listen to this. Be realistic. It's not about the project. It's about the kids. Like, do it for the kids. This can't happen. This just completely blindsided us and has put a big dent in our budget for next year already if this does go through. So I guess the city council meeting is going to be loaded with people that want to have a conversation about this. I certainly hope so. And what are the taxes for? Don't the city of, don't people residents pay taxes? Right. Well, they do already currently pay taxes, but they're saying now, based on this, that the water, the electricity, the maintenance is all going to be charged to the park, which will then have to pass it on to the fees. Well, they're still going to have maintenance on the fields. They're still going to have water. I mean, they may not have electricity because if there's nobody playing at night, they're not going to have the lights on. But they're still going to have to maintain the fields, I guess, unless they're going to let them grow over. But, you know, the point is, if they price these organizations out of existence, then they're still not going to have anybody to pay the fees. I agree 100%. You're right on point with what you're saying right now. Now, when it comes to this, you know, I do want to note that it has been told that Mayor John Gunter opposes the hike and wants to remove it from the agenda. It's going to be on the agenda today, but they're just going to discuss it. They're not going to vote on it. But the city stated the intent, full cost recovery for field lights, water, sewer, and maintenance, and more. And there are a lot of calls coming in on this. So I want to grab another call. Thanks for calling in. Happy. Joining me now on line five is Robert from Naples Park. Robert, go ahead. What do you think? Hey, how are you doing? I'm good. Robert, go ahead. I was play football in Youngstown, Ohio, and high school. And all we had to pay for was a physical. That was it.
Right. And now, just so you know, it's already like $250 for Pop Warner. Like it's not cheap to play. It's even more expensive for cheer. And all those fees are going to continue to go up as soon as they cut this. 239, 479, 5592 is the number. We've got a ton of people coming in. Lisa. All right. So let's grab Lisa on the phone. Lisa, good morning. You're welcome to daybreak. Go ahead. Good morning. Look, hey, I'm a big supporter of our youth recreation sports. We're not, we're investing in our future. And I mean, to have such a hike like this, we're basically canceling them out. I'm all for balance. But I think we need to explore other options such as grants and that sort of thing to make sure that we are fully supporting our youth athletes. For those who don't know, this is, I already recognize the voice. This is Lisa King. She's actually running for city council there in Cape Coral. Lisa, good morning. Welcome to the show. Thank you so much. You know, I heard you talking about this, and I said, I've got to let you know where I stand on this. You know, we're a growing city and to go in this direction, I think is detrimental. Right. I appreciate you calling it. Lisa, it's always great to have you on the show. Wow, there's a lot to unpack here. You want to or not? Bump? No, keep it. All right, all right, cool. More daybreak coming up next. We're going to jump into a conversation about Michigan elections here on 925 Fox News.
Every election cycle has its big issues, and then there's the battle over where to put an RV resort. We'll try to cover it all. 92-5 Fox News. Right. All along. Welcome back. This is 92-5 Fox News right all along. We do have quite a few primaries that are happening today as we creep closer to ours. Today you have Kansas, Michigan, Missouri, Virginia. and the state of Washington. And we are going to get deep into a few of these races that are going on inside here. But I think the one that most people are going to be watching, and Rob, correct me if I'm wrong, it's the Michigan race. Is that not the one that everyone's going to be talking about? Yes, because Michigan has been a bastion for the progressive wing of the Democrat Party to rise. And progressive socialism. Communism is a popular topic in Michigan right now. But I think part of that is also based on your population demo too. So we have to consider the demo. Adule-Osaid faces a more moderate Republican, Haley Stevens in a race that's going to take on the Republican former Mike Rogers. The race is also implications of the extent of the end of 2000 to 28 and see where it goes. And like I said, this is another bellwether of where we're at in life. This will. This will be a bellwether. Michigan is a state that we do need to watch. Granted, it's not going to swing the election one way or the other. We know that Michigan generally votes blue, but Michigan will be a launching point for communists. And... Socialists that want to work their way, I love you, that want to work their way into the system and talk more about it. So to get us an in-depth look at this and to really get to it, we're going to be joined right now, joining us now, Fox News correspondent, Evan Brown, let's go ahead and get it. Evan, good morning. Welcome to the show. Primary is underway today, Kansas, Michigan, Missouri, Virginia, Washington. I need a clean breakdown. Which one do you think is going to be the one that everyone is watching today? So I think the big one that everyone's watching is in Michigan, the Senate primary, because you have a supposedly more moderate Democrat by the name of Haley Stevens, who's a representative, who is facing off someone who is not taking the title of Democratic Socialists, but certainly taking their support, Abdul El-Sayed. And so I think this is just another chance for the people at large, the country at large, to sort of take the temperature of the Democratic voter, electorate voters, because the Democratic Socialists of America have been asserting themselves pretty well over the past couple of years here. They intend to become the party.
They make no bones about it. They're no longer shying away from really what they want to do and who they are. They have come forward and basically said they are communists. They won't use the title communist, but they want to do things like abolishing the two house legislature for a super legislature that would have oversight of a Supreme Court and oversight, not just check and balance, but oversight of an executive, which is what, you know, communist China has, is what the Soviet Union has, what Cuba has. So some people may think that that's an exercise in civics. No, it really isn't. What it's doing, it's doing away with a government that's accountable to the people, which is the sort of basis of what we do here in this country. So, you know, on top of that, they want to do things like social programs, such as free groceries and free health care and all of that stuff. And you couple that with the fact that you have kids, you know, younger voters who. have not truly been educated on what communism is, coming out and supporting this stuff. And that's a problem. But it's really a problem mostly for the establishment Democrats who are sitting there going, how did this happen? Because you have the whole squad standing behind Abdulazid. And now they're all standing behind him. And that is going to obviously push him. You know, in Michigan, you have Deerborn, which is a... Deerbornistan. Deerbornistan there where a lot of Middle Easterns have settled into America there. So it's probably a big... push for him. If he would win and have to take and then actually make his way all the way through, this would be another one of those squad members that's going to deteriorate the Democratic Party from within. Are there any other one of these on today's primary or is this the only progressive? No, there are others. You know, what's interesting is that there is a primary. between uh... in which uh... former congresswoman Cori Bush in missouri could could get nominated again She was a squad person that was defeated last go-round. And now the squad is pushing to get her back in. To get her back in. So, you know, this is really a comeuppance, I think. For many, it's been decades now. The Democratic Party has been losing Middle America, slowly but surely, as they've pushed a little bit lefter and a little bit lefter. And to shore that up, instead of going after middle American voters and trying to explain themselves and maybe win their votes, they've been engendering themselves to extreme elements. And, you know, 20, 30 years ago, it was the environmentalists they were trying to attract, right? Right. And, you know, 10 years ago it was the Black Lives Matter types. And now it's the anti-Semites, the so-called anti-Zionists.
And this has always been brought together under this idea of communism or socialism, if you want to call it that, but it's really communism. And now it's gotten to the point that they're so dependent on these fringe voters that they can't alienate them. But at the same time, you're finally seeing some of these older establishment voices coming out saying, what happened to us? And, you know, James Carville being one of them saying you can't exist in this party anymore. But you existed in this party for 30 years. You made a career out of it without really any hesitation. So maybe there's some buyers remorse on the part of them. But the response by the younger Democratic voter to the James Carville isn't like, oh my gosh, what have we done? We've alienated James Carville. It's that simple, nihilistic, OK, boomer response. See you later, old guy. Exactly. Right. And you're seeing that more and more. And even Elizabeth Warren commented on it as well. And she was all like, well, I listened to him one out of ten times. She's also degrading James Carville and anything he stands for when it comes to the Democratic Party. It says a lot when the Democrats can't decide if they want to stand with Democrats or stand with communism when they go up there. And I believe that this is the split that doesn't unite them, although a lot of people believe it will unite. them. Thoughts? Well, traditionally, Democrats come together at the end of the day. Far better than Republicans do. Absolutely. For taking their ball and going home. And Democrats seem to coalesce. The question is, will they still coalesce this time? I suspect that they probably will because that's just how they are used to operating, but it's going to come at a great, great cost. And, you know, we're watching it happen in real time. And we'll be watching it tonight. Thank you very much. Evan Brown from Fox News hanging out with us today. You have a great rest of the time. We'll see you next week, buddy. All right. You too. Take care. There we go. The 5 at 835 is next here on daybreak.
expert opinion. It's your opinion that matters. Primary election coverage done right. On 92-5 Fox News. Welcome back. This is daybreak on 92-5 Fox News. Right all along. The 5 at 835 is presented by Southwest Florida, oral. and facial surgery, specializing in excellent care. Five, four, three, two, one. Number five. I don't really, I mean, it's a DMC. Who cares? I've been in Democratic politics since 1980, and I have not spent 10 seconds of my time obsessing or worried about it. Actually, well, pretty good, and I did too when Ron Brown and Paul Tully were there. But this is a minor distraction, and the DNC will have to unconstipate itself. I can't help them. That is James Carvel on the DNC and Hassan Picker and Moore. So just so you know, with a lifelong party operator, like... James Carville starts signaling about the DNC the way a frustrated customer talks about an appliance or a broken appliance. It basically signals that the professional class has already written off the formal party structure is useful, and you're seeing it happen piece by piece, Democrat by Democrat. And when you... When they're out there and they're saying the quiet part out loud, it means it's going to become a talking point for a lot of people throughout this election cycle. And I think, you know, there's some people across the country right now thinking that the Democratic Party needs it, Edema, because they're constipated, just like James Carville said, and he's probably right. Number four. Don't you think we ought to stock the reflecting pool with fish? I think we ought to put fish in there. Who's paying for that fish? And I love to fly fish, and I think... Those of us who like to fish, I'll chip in. It's shallow, it's fairly clear, scrape the algae off, and you can see where the fish are, so you can drop that fly right next to it. I, for one, would probably pay money to see Senator Robert F. Kennedy Jr. fishing in the flying, fly fishing in the reflecting pool. Listen, if they actually did this, it would be a fight to put every year to put fish back in the water. Everyone who fishes in Congress would have to participate in donating like we did the flag here in Cape Goral in order to make that happen. I'm not saying it's not possible. There's a lot of them. There's like, what, 535 of them? There's a lot that probably fish and would love to go fly fish in there and would contribute to the stocking of the fish. The problem is the homeless would steal them all and eat them and then there would be.
no fish, and it wouldn't work out well at all. And then somebody would steal the fish, and Janine would, never mind, I'm not going to go there. Number three. I want to give them every last chance before decapitation. Very tough to do what we have planned, still planned. I'm very proud of the fact that I will give people a chance. This is a big move. To do an attack that big? On a contrary, I'd rather not do it. Now, we've already threw lots of large attacks, but they were normal large. But hopefully they'll come to their senses. So they called me, and they said, please don't attack. We'll make a deal. That's the real truth. And everyone knows it. And everyone knows it. But will the deal be made? And how many times have we heard from our president that they called me, they said they want a deal, they don't want to be attacked? And then two days later, we're bombing a hell out of them again. And the oil price goes up through the roof and we're all sitting at $4.5 at the pump. It is time for resolution of this. I am over diplomacy. I'm more of a, hey, come meet me in the backyard real quick. I got something I want to talk to you about and handle it. And that's the way I kind of feel like we should be handling it. But if President Trump wants to hold off on the decapitation, I'm cool with it. But then when he's needed, just let me know I'll bring the gay team. Number two. I just hope that the Congress, for once, will use the power of the purse and defund sanctuary states and defund sanctuary cities. Money talks, and if you do that, you'll change the behavior. Boy, Ron DeSantis, he was on with Life, Liberty, and Levine. Hey, let me ask you a question. Is he politicking for another one, Rob? Do you think he's politicking for the next job? Do you think he is setting himself up? Yes. He seems that, yes, I agree 100%. I think he is setting himself up to be a cabinet position. I think he would be great in so many different roles within the cabinet. And I hope that they get him a job there one way or another because I feel like he's doing exactly what we want someone to do who would be on that cabinet. And he's right. We should be punching down the sanctuary state. in the sanctuary cities to the extreme that we can do it. When Ron DeSantis goes out there and he tells everyone, hey, look, this is what you need to know and this is what's going on. Stop writing those checks. And then you stop writing those checks. You might get real reform. But as long as they can keep up doing the standard operating procedure and you keep on floating them a check for whatever they need, they're not changing nothing. Number one. All the rappers we watch were so careful. At least dreaming.
The ones who were singing back up should have done main vocal. And the person, Martha Reeves, by the way, Motown recording artists, was out there singing at the first ever women's baseball professional baseball game. And she was out there and singing the national anthem. And I just want to make sure you never forgot it. That was hard to listen to. What do you mean hard to listen to? It's America's anthem. She was singing from the heart and soul. Want to hear one more time? Was she a Democrat? Of course. Why do they always sing? Ha ha ha ha. The five at 835. Oh, man. Only marmas. Only marms, by the way. Yeah, let me give you this story right now. Only marms. Could you imagine a only fans, but instead of only fans, it is only marms. Here is ABC, New York with the story. We love this story. You have probably. probably heard of only fans. I mean, who hasn't, but have you heard of only marms? My favorite story of the day. Only marms. That's right. A UCLA research team is posting adorable marmot videos on the platform to help raise money after federal funding cuts threatened decades of wildlife research. You heard it right. It's marmot video on only fans. We are talking about the furry stars of only marms and the serious mission behind all of this incredible cuteness and just a great story. It's G-rated. We want to make sure to let you know. It's all G-rated Marmad video. But it's fantastic. A great story. But what it really tells you is that the standard way that we have raised money and got grants has turned. UCLA professors to porn. Well, I mean, if they're not producing porn, that's a very interesting way to try and race money. All right. I feel like he did it just so that he was like, great idea. Someone pull up Only fans. Let's check this out right now. Now it's national headlines and everybody's talking about it. So their page is about to get up. bunch of money i agree i agree i hope my page on only fans gets a bunch of money too um uh oh wait i wasn't supposed to reveal that i wouldn't do that brother i can't even go to that website ever in my life there's things i would never go to i don't ever want to go there only fans is one of them tender is another and i think the last one would be any one of those uh plenty of fish hookup blah blah blah dating sites i don't even want it in my browser i don't even want to think about it in my browser we don't i also don't like snapchat because it's basically on the same level i'm anti snapchat too so you can we can talk about this all day long if you want but when it comes to this organization resorting to only fans to raise money so that they can get the things that they need. They post videos of these things and hoping to raise the tip money. And some say they're already going there to donate. And like you said, Rob, a lot of people are going to.
go there and donate. I mean, I would have probably tried GoFund me first over OnlyFans, but... Nobody trusts that anymore. You can't, you can't discount their ingenuity here. Not at all. Leveraging a platform that famously makes a lot of money. Right. And now it gives every man listening right now, you now have plausible deniability. Why were you at OnlyFans? I was giving money to the Marms, bro. Why are you mad, honey? I'm helping the wildlife survive. The only reason I went there. I'm sorry that you saw that. I didn't want you to have to see me going there, but I just wanted to do my civic duty and support the research of these beautiful, warm, fuzzy animals. Do you have a problem with that, honey? What's she don't say to you? She'll hit you across the face, call you a liar until you was on there watching Jessica. You know you was? You know he was? What a great time. What a great time, man. But you're right. What a great way to do things and handle it the best way they can. You know, one of the things that we've been talking a lot on this show and you may be listening whenever you got the 925 Fox News app in your hand. is these arcades that you might see. And a libertarian will say it's their right to go do it how they want and wish how they want. But the laws of Florida say something different. But when our sister station, Wink News, goes out and does a wink listens with people who are supporting and are patrons to these arcades and were there during one of the bust. It makes me want to talk about it. And it's coming up next on Daybreak on 92-5 Fox News right all along. Cut through the static with the new 92-5.
Fox News app the right way to listen live or on demand download it now text listen to 479 5590 order Welcome back to Daybreak on 92-5 Fox News right all along. Now, Florida has been shutting down illegal gaming arcades for pretty much my entire broadcast life here at 92-5 Fox News. But Wink News does a thing called Wink Listen, and they go out and talk to different groups of people. And this is them talking about what they went to next. Listen. For months, Wink Investigates has followed the state's growing crackdown on illegal arcades across southwest Florida. Tonight we hear from customers of these illegal operations. They tell Wink Investigates they feel like victims, not at the hands of the arcades, but the enforcement against them. They feel Florida should look at different ways of regulation. Well, they think that these 12 people who say that they're all. older people of the older stature. I don't know if they're senior citizens or not. Although they basically say that inside their conversation is they call this more like a social club. Here we go. Who wants to sit in front of the TV for eight hours. It's more like a little social club or community of people. Why would the state of Florida take away from the small businesses and take away from... Us elderly people, most of us are not going to run out to a mockily. It's not going to happen. It's because they're smuggling drugs and running illegal operations. Oh, there you go. In so many of these cases, we connect these illegal operations with illicit money laundering, embezzlement, trafficking, large-scale drug sales, retail theft, you name it. That was the Attorney General. So for Miss Ignorance is Bliss, that's the truth. Well, what about this one? Wink asked the hard questions out loud. So no one's felt unsafe in an arcade. No. No. Not at all. No one has seen any drugs deals. No. No one has seen any, like, guns out. No, no. No one has seen any human trafficking. No, no. Oh, good Lord, no. Nothing like that. I mean, we're all elderly. What kind of trafficking can they do? We're all elderly. What kind of trafficking can they do? There's the back room, first of all. Second of all, they all sound like they have patterns of addiction. Because anybody who's addicted is going to say, I'm not addicted. What are you talking about? This is great. Right. This is the greatest thing I've ever done. I go here. They give me free drugs, alcohol, and I lose all my money and go home poor. Yeah, so you don't want to sit in front of a TV, but you want to sit in front of a slot machine that, you know, is also a screen staring in your face for eight hours with zero daylight coming through the windows, by the way, because that's how casinos keep you in. Wow. You just put it. You just set it right there. You don't want to watch the screen, but you want to press a button all day long and nine cents a pop, right? That's what they do. Listen, the operations sunset stakes and Lee and.
Collier County 11 rest 479 machines and almost $300,000 in cash. We have laid out what the law says and what this does. But as soon as they shut them down, they come right back. The one in Norfolk Myers that was in the old 7-Eleven that I talked about was in my own backyard that got shut down and rated. It's opened right back up. And I've got a picture of a Lee County cruiser sitting in the parking lot of this place, why it's operating an illegal operation. And he just drives off. I really got the picture because I saw a person making illegal left turn that. I've once been ticketed for that that guy didn't get ticketed for. I was mad. Well, he probably can't take the action just by himself. But maybe he was collecting information. I can only hope. And I can only hope that the Florida legislature decides that they want to make it a felony instead of a misdemeanor so we can elevate that crime and make it a bigger deal. The bottom line is I don't think these listeners are from Wink listens. I call them, that's why I called them listeners.
