The 9:33 Experiment-What's Your Most Important Issue?

It's time for the 933 experiment here on News Radio, WRVA. Thanks for joining us, everybody. At 933, I open up the phone lines. And when we open up the phone lines, I just throw caution to what. I have no idea what's going to happen. The show is semi-structured. I mean, Super Dave and I get together. We spend hours getting ready for the show, and we kind of block out. Here's what we're going to talk about here. We line up the guest. We line up this out. This is just a free-for-all. This I open up the phone lines to anybody who wants to call under the program. 833-804-1140, 833-804-1140. And we kind of come up with a topic and we just let her run. We let you chime in because, again, the only thing that fights bad speech is more speech and good speech, meaning letting people speak their mind. I remind people on a daily basis because I think we've lost our voice. I really, truly sincerely believe we've lost our voice in America because of the heckler's veto. You see what's going on with Sophie Cunningham? You saw the videos over the weekend of the protesters, just trying to silence people that were just saying, hey, listen, keep boys out of girls' sports. And they weren't out there being hateful. They were out there just, hey, listen, we support women's sports. And then you saw the venom and the toxic response, people trying to grab signs out of each other's hands, and just the anger that you see. And that's intimidated a lot of people for speaking their mind. And what's going to happen at work? Well, I lose my job. Will I get canceled? When my friends turn on me? In this job, I've lost friends. I've lost a couple friends. I've heard from a couple of people like, I didn't know that you were conservative and I don't know how comfortable it's going to be. I'm not sure if they're going to keep talking to me. I haven't changed who I am, but it's that liberal mentality of I'm all for free speech as long as your speech agrees with me. And now we see this. And that's why I think it's cooled a lot of the public discussion, because honestly, you can't have a public discussion anymore without somebody getting upset if I don't agree with you. I don't care. You can have any opinion you want. I don't care. Just all respect yours, but I demand you respect mine. So that's why we do this experiment, because I want people to start speaking up again and freely saying what's on their minds and not being intimidated. The more free speech we have, the better. So ask this question. What's the one single most important issue? that you have in your mind that's going to drive you to the ballot box. What do you think the most single, most important thing that the Republicans need to run on in Virginia? So Mark Warner's up for re-election. He's already the Democrat. Nobody ran against him. I got three Republicans that are jumping in and they want to run against Mark Warner. There is absolutely no passion that I've seen bubble up from the GOP. A lot of complaining, as someone pointed out, go to Mark Warner's Facebook page and you just have a bunch of people clouding on him.

Okay, but what good does that do? So I'm asking you, and I'll open up the phone lines right now, what is the one single issue that is the most important to you that you are passionate about when it comes to the next elections, the primary tomorrow, what's going to have you show up and vote, and what's going to have you show up and vote in November? So I asked a simple little question this morning at 6 a.m., and I'll ask it right now on the phone. 833, 804, 1140, 833, 804, 1140. Here's what I'll tell you. I've been calculating and counting the votes all morning long. Number one thing that people are interested in is the economy. Number one, the economy, by far and away. We had nine people say, economy is my most important thing. Again, sample sizes small because of those people that were texting in earlier. And after that, you are all over the place. And that's what scares me about the midterm elections. Democrats know what they're running on, folks. Democrats are going to say, economy's bad. Trump has taken us in the wrong direction. They have their whole... litany and bullet points of things they're going to hammer the Republicans on. That's going to motivate their people to come out and vote, and they're going to vote with a passion, and they're going to come out like you've never seen them before. They're motivated. They're ready to go. The Democrat Socialists of America have pumped in new energy into the Democratic Party, and they're going to come out and try to win with the vengeance. Then I got the Republican side. What is going to get you motivated to show up? What are you passionate about? What's the one issue that you can get people to rally around to show up and vote? And if you're the Virginia GOP, you should take note of this. Again, I got phone lines open and hear crickets right now, which tells me I'm on to something here. 833, 804, 1140, 833, 8041140. When you voted Glenn Youngkin into the governor's mansion, Didn't you all rally behind him as he stood up to Loudoun County and some other things that he got behind? When Jim Gilmore, you voted him into the governor's mansion, didn't he run on, let's get rid of the stupid car tax? George Allen had so many reforms. Republicans need to have an issue to drive them into the winner circle in elections here in Virginia. I've learned that here. Right now, what's the one Republican issue that gets everybody excited? If it's the economy, then you know what? Then Donald Trump's going to lose. And the GOP is going to lose, and you'll lose the Senate and you'll lose the House. If you're number one thing is the economy, you're the incumbent. That means people are concerned, and you're not doing what they need you to do. That's not a good winning issue for Donald Trump. But here's all the rest that I've got people. Gas prices. That can go back to the economy. Got a couple votes for that. Immigration, I got three votes for that. Cyber security, I got one vote for that. Taxes. I got two votes for that. Second Amendment, three votes. Communists, rising up in America. I got two votes. Data centers, I got one vote. Election integrity, I got one vote. Control of Congress, I got one. And now I have somebody saying, transgender dolls. We are so...

I need to find out, did she look at each one individually, or was just this group signature, and we put them all back on the voter rolls? This is something that I think the people of Virginia need to find out. If that's your one, and I respect it. Listen, I respect the heck out of it. I will tell you this, that I've lived in states where the mail-in ballots were handed out like candy, and who knows what went on with the ballot harvesting. So I completely understand where you're coming from. I'll ask you this. Like I asked the last question, the last person, I asked Dawn, is election integrity enough to get people motivated to rally around and have passion to show up to vote in November? I don't think in this state it is. I don't know what people are thinking. I used to work for Dave Brad. He was actually too good to be in Congress. He was such a wonderful, honest human being. But I tell you what, I've left politics in this state because the Republican Party here is weak. All they want to do is have parties with cocktails and maybe send a small check. There's no mobilization of activity. There's no messaging. Most of my friends don't even know that tomorrow's primary day. So I think we're sort of in a very pathetic laissez-faire. It's not going to happen here. A state of mind. And I'm really ashamed. Our kids live in Florida and Texas, and my husband and I are considering leaving. It's disgusting. All right. Okay, I have to tell you this. Yeah, yeah. One of my biggest issues, I've tutored in schools, private schools. Okay. The version of history that our kids are learning is disgraceful. Middle school history book had a chapter highlighting Woodrow Wilson calling, oh, the progressive era. And I'm sitting there going, He was a huge racist. And, I mean, this is a private school. Listen, I get it. I sent my son to private school. I get it. But here's what I'm going to tell you, Ann. It's pathetic, though. And we are doomed if our education system doesn't get fixed. And then don't go to the Smithsonian because I just went a week from last Sunday. And if you went in, oh, would you're a blood boil? But here's what I'm going to tell you. I'm not ready to give up yet. I'm actually looking forward to the fight. So here's what I've done in. Reached out to the state GOP, and I'm asking questions. So I'm going to get some answers from all of us. Okay? I'm going to figure out what's going on over here because I see what you see. Do you remember when we were talking about gerrymandering? I'm like, people like, well, where can I go get my sign? Well, there's no signs. Well, I don't know what to. They go make your own sign. It's people that have to. We have to be. That's why I bring up. There's jaw bones, there's jaw bones, there's wishbones, there's knuckle bones, and there's backbones. You seem like a backbone that's becoming disenchanted. Keep listening to the show. We're going to rally people around to speak their voice. Don't give up on us yet. I'm not giving up in America. I don't want you to either. Well, and Mark Warner.

I'm going to vote for Bruce. For Bruce. You know. The Army General? USA and his name, it's a foreign. I'm going to vote for that person. And I'm a John McGuire. I'm in his district, and I'm definitely going to vote for him. I know he's going on. John's coming on the program tomorrow. Here, let me give you the names because people are asking me to give him names. Kim Farrington. She was a CPA entrepreneur, 33-year public federal servant, worked as a CFO First Responder's Network Authority. Then we got Bert. Meet, make sure I get this right, Mizusawa, okay? He is a former Major General in the U.S. Army, an attorney, national security official, graduated from West Point, has public policy degree from Harvard, includes Combat Command leading a task force in Afghanistan and working for the Senate Armed Services Committee. serving his deputy undersecretary of the Army and advising the CIA director. Then you have David Williams, who's a Navy Marine veteran, former diplomat, former CIA officer from Reston. The list of the Navy attended Morehouse College and our ROTC scholarship became a Marine infantry officer deployed twice to Iraq. Those are the three that are out there right now. And we'll see what happens in that race. But you know what? I live in Goochland, which you think, oh, the Republican County and Powhatan, here we are. There's no signs. There's nothing. There's nothing here. And we shouldn't have our primary August. People are out of town. People aren't paying attention. They're buying school supplies. The whole Republican Party needs to get its shit together. I mean, I've worked in it. Oh, we can't say that. Sorry. Oh, boy, we've got to hang up on her. Bye. And got passionate right there. cursing. I need to go to the doctor now, but I'm afraid I'm going to get a big deal, and I have insurance. So, I mean, if y'all want to run on something, run on health care. But it really isn't going to matter. Just to be honest with you, you can have those three candidates. But Warner's going to win at the end of the day because...

Just like with Kamala Harris, well Kamala Harris, whatever. Facts and feelings at the end of the day matters. Nobody cares about facts anymore. It's what you're going to do for me now later. We live in a short-term, short-memory life right now. Nobody cares about what, yeah. Go ahead. You're a genius. Did you hear what I said?
